Terrible experience The hotel is very old and needs a renovation We couldn’t use the AC because it stinks

We took the filters out and they wasn’t cleaned for at least a few years, and it helped a little bit No windows so we basically had no air The last night at 4am our room filled with smoke and strong smell of something being burned, we were it’s fire but no fire alarm was on The smell and smoke was strong so we couldn’t be in the room since 4am We had to check out and move outThe room was also very dirty and full of previous guests hairThe area around is full of homeless people but it’s a downtown so it’s kinda as it should be in AmericaVery bad experience with this placeThe stuff was very helpful and nice tho That’s the only good thing about this hotel – the stuff

pafadul

Stayed here last week with my wife and chose this hotel because it was closer to the capitol and the palace In theory it sounded good but was a big mistake The area around the hotel (and I understand that this is out of their control) was not tourist friendly

Lots of homeless wandering around, people sleeping on sidewalks, abandoned looking buildings (the longs drugs at the bottom of the hotel was shuttered), and generally did not look safe The hotel itself does not have a restaurant or room service, so you will be forced to look around the hotel, which is fine unless you want to eat after 3pm (most of the restaurants close after this time) Now for the hotel itself The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but they could only do so much There is no fitness center at this hotel (a first for us since even the holiday inn has a basic setup) but they can sell you a one use pass for the 24 hour fitness nearby for $12 The view in the room was great, but the room itself was dated No comforter on the bed, and room service only comes by after 4 days of your stay You can request housekeeping or more towels, but we never actually tried this The tub had jets but as others had mentioned, the nozzles were black and quite dirty In our room the caulking at the base of the tub was not present, leaving a nice gap between the tile and the tub that looked unsettling when walking around with bare feet The carpet was well worn and the wallpaper was peeling in several places The a/c diffuser was placed on top of the door to the bedroom and ended up blowing directly on us as we tried to sleep, which was annoying It was nice that the rooms have a kitchenette with utensils, mugs, etc That actually came in handy a couple of times We did like the fact that there was a small table in the bedroom as well as the kitchen area and a loveseat as well Lots of room, but everything was just so old and worn down Overall, i think the hotel could be great if they just renovated the rooms I feel like this would have been an awesome hotel like 30 years ago

Stephanie Chase

Spacious room with a full small kitchen, a bathroom with a large tub and a washer/dryer, and a large bedroom with a view The neighborhood around the hotel has many AMAZING restaurants, and it is very easy to access Ala Moana and Waikiki beaches (in fact, much of Honolulu) via the multiple bus lines that come right by the hotel Keep in mind you are in downtown Honolulu, and not the tourist-filled streets of Waikiki

Spent a week with my kids at this resort and i honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about it From our arrival, the customer was some of the best i have ever experienced It is a beautiful resort that is super kid friendly

Multiple pools for the kids to enjoy and a reflection pool for the grown ups The lagoon beach out front was perfect for laying out, building sand castles, and just relaxing in the water There were different activities to keep everyone entertained including an outdoor movie night My only real issue with this resort is that it’s on Oahu, so any time you venture off property there is horrible trafficI would highly recommend this resort!

Karen Scott

The resort is beautiful and well kept Our villa is spacious and has plenty of space for the 7 people Even the pull out beds are comfortable

The kitchens are equipped with more than enough tools to cook a full meal or a simple snack The view from the balcony is gorgeousThere are a ton of activities daily for kids and adults The restaurants are good and the food is delicious and comes out piping hotThe beach is gorgeous and because it’s in a cove there are little to no waves and very calm You can float in a tube and fall asleep it’s so calmThe pools are refreshing and offer something for everyone A quiet pool (reflection), a toddler/volleyball pool with a beach sand entry, and another pool with varying levels that has a waterfall, cave and separate slideThe ocean is clear, you can see straight to the bottom There are fish everywhere as well It’s amazing!Fabulous resort and worth the trip!

This is a gem of a hotel Location is perfect – Waikiki beach is 5 minutes away on foot and everything else (restaurants, shops, etc) is within close proximity The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable

They even provide beach towels, umbrellas, etc free of charge so that was one less thing to worry aboutBest of all, the staff especially Reese and William are amazing We arrived quite late and the front desk had already closed, but Reese waited for us to make sure we were good They were very friendly and we felt at ease asking them for recommendations In fact, they were so friendly that we would just come to the front desk to have a chat and learn more about Hawaii and its cultureOverall, we would gladly stay at Waikiki Central Hotel again when we return to Hawaii, and can confidently recommend this place to anyone as long as you’re not expecting something luxurious Definitely bang for your buck!

Bradley Henn

A lovely small Inn Service is excellent with some fantastic counter staff It’s warm and welcoming

Rooms them selves are simple but offer everything you need, from microwaves to coffeeOnly downside, is while most rooms are pretty sound proof, some noise does get in from around the door

Kat M

Wow I feel like we lucked out on this place and would absolutely book again Place was newly renovated and super clean Front desk is always friendly and helpful

And what a prime location to the beach!! Place was secure, convenient, and well kept Minimal noise from the street (minus the garbage trucks that seemed to come most mornings)

We are enjoying our room with partial ocean view They do not clean your room unless requested 24-hour prior notice and you pick the time they can clean When you need more towels, shampoo, conditioner, or coffee you just go ask the front desk and they give you more

Beach towels are included upon request, just make sure you let them know when you are returning them because they are checked out with your room number, There is a basket you drop them in when entering the lobby They a very big nice towels Very happy with are comfortable soft bed The stove top is a plug in the wall kind it’s not like the picture on the counter top Overall we are happy and thankful we choose this hotel

Shawn Corkum

Overall we had a good experience here I think the company had this listed as a 4 star, which it certainly is not 3

5 at best That being said, the room was clean and very spacious We had a one bedroom with a kitchenette AC was in the living room, and it was a bit challenging to keep the bedroom as cool as we would have liked but there was a ceiling fan Not a huge deal It was very nice to have a kitchenette The hotel needs some Renos, the hallways are very worn But, we paid far less for our stay here than other hotels, so overall were satisfied The service was excellent, especially the lady at the front desk (sadly I cannot remember her name) Nice to be able to use the towels as well If you can get past the wear and tear, it’s a good hotel in a great location (really short walk to the beach)

Roger Hollingshead

The hotel location is everything! 2 blocks to the beach and the best poke place in waikiki right across the street! You don’t need a car here unless you are going to explore the whole island We had a car and the parking was a good price for the areaThe pool has an amazing view and was empty most the time

The rooms are decorated a bit old style but clean

Most of the staff is friendly, but not everyone Room was not that clean There is a kitchenette, but only one chair

So one person should be standing while eating? When requesting for another chair, there were no extra chairs Also no table or chairs are present on the balcony Beach towels also ran outThe location is very good The bed was comfy

Melissa Nichols

The hotel staff were phenomenal One of our party had a mobility scooter, but the elevator was too small to accommodate it The front desk staff kept the scooter in a closet downstairs, and kept it charged and secure when it wasn’t in use

They were so accommodating of our needs, it really made our stay much easier than it could have been The room was clean, but otherwise pretty basic with a small kitchenette The location was ideal for getting anywhere in Waikiki, or catching transit to go farther out All in all, this is a great place to stay

Bea Giron

My friends and I stayed at the Polynesian Residences for 9 days when we went to Hawaii for our vacation Excellent amenities and friendly staff! Good value for your money as their rooms has everything you could ask for such as a kitchenette, bidet, spacious bathroom, kitchen utensils, and many more! Very clean lobby and room service is available upon request Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in Hawaii as their rates are reasonable and close to lots of popular landmarks!

Laura

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel, the staff are all very helpful and nice, there are some surf boards for rent and some beach equipment you can use as well The kitchen I didn’t really used but look okay, maybe a little messy The rooms and bathrooms were clean and beds were comfortable

The whole vibe was good and there was a big range in ages of people staying there Really good location

Llorenç Antón

The hostel is really good They clean every day everything The kitchen can be better but if you don’t need a lot is enough for cook

There is a chill area with hammocks The stuff is nice and they try to help us every moment If you are travelling alone is not a problem, there is friendly people, is not difficult to make friends and join them with some adventure

karrie Weddle (Sylestia)

Never done a hostel before, but had a semi-private room You go through a dorm to get to it and you shared the same bathroom with the dorm, but you had a separate locking door The semi-private room had a ceiling fan

It’s no frills, you get a place to sleep and some towels to take a shower Bed wasn’t the best Great for people on the go All the rooms were on the 2nd and 3rd floors, no elevator My cruise luggage for the remainder of the trip was a bit much They did have a storage room if you needed a safe place to keep your stuff after check out

Simply the best, cheapest and cleanest hostel to stay at when traveling to O’ahu Great bus service to downtown Honolulu or Waikiki and a relaxing patio to socialize with other travelersThe hostel is run by Sue, Paul and Joanna, three wonderful hosts to which you can ask all your questions

I thoroughly enjoyed my 22 days stay here and would gladly come back again! To Sue, Paul and Joanna, THANKS!!

Kaye S

This is a great no-thrills spot whether you’re passing through or staying a bit It’s a small operation run by a hardworking family, so I recommend calling them directly to book room Locked dooms with clean beds, lockers and a shared bathroom

There is parking available at the hostel and on the street which was nice for so close to downtown

Filip Rejmus

The hostel is a bit outside the busy areas of Honolulu but still pretty close to Waikiki and a couple of dining options It’s really small, having maybe 5 rooms and a really diverse crowd of visitors across all ages The rooms are clean and comfortable

Honorable mentions: Sue is the funniest person!!!!

Hands down this property is the best place to stay in Waikiki Beach! Every room is basically a one bedroom apartment with a balcony and some great views The kitchen is fully loaded with a full fridge and oven Literally one block from the heart of Waikiki Beach

Tons of restaurants within walking distance Great pricing and the staff was awesome Jennifer the GM knows how to take care of business travelers and Jonathan at the front desk went out of his way to help with local suggestions and amenities I will definitely be back Such a great place for the price!!

Felix Martinez

I booked this place from Bookingcom and the pictures of the room were nothing like the pictures on the website The room I got was in really bad shape

Everything was old, the carpet was dirty, and hallways were in bad shape too As soon as I seen my room I went back down to the lobby and told them that I was expecting a room that looks like the pictures in the website They said they could move me the next day to a more modern room I took their offer The room I moved to was remodeled more recently and was in better shape I had a better view too I think they should be more honest with their potential customers so that you know what you are getting for your money before you get there The staff was friendly

Candice Maroney

I liked this place when I first came to Hawaii some years ago, that was why I recommend we stay here for my Birthday this year It has good prices, a full kitchen and enough space for the family but the quality sucks Only 2 out of 4 of our room keys actually work

The ceiling and carpet have stains in them The mattresses on the bed are very hard Closet space is very limited Last night there was a Cockroach in our room!! Which made me very paranoid, I could barely sleep The store downstairs is very overpriced I wouldn’t recommend buying anything The security staff are friendly but the others were not I won’t be back

We had the most wonderful experience at this hotel The service they provide is next level incredible! The concierge has so much knowledge and were amazing at helping us book cars and restaurants and giving us a tons of options on what to do The hard part was choosing from the list

The facilities and room were perfect and well maintained I also enjoyed that there was a kids and adults only pool The view from our room was amazing They are also extremely diligent in following Covid protocol (even though that sadly means no buffet breakfast!) An expensive hotel that’s worth every cent!

Dea Logsdon

The best! We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon The staff were all so kind, housekeeping were so sweet and thoughtful We even had a washer/dryer in our room (awesome for not having to come home with a bunch of dirty laundry!) The food was amazing and it was just so lovely!! Definitely worth the price tag

We felt so comfortable and so well taken care of here We absolutely plan on staying here again if we get the chance!!

Dominik Lee

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and it was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at From the amazing service from all their friendly staff, to the clean and modern rooms, The Ritz at Waikiki Beach was above and beyond all expectationsThe rooms were clean, modern and had extremely comfortable beds

There was a full kitchen and even washing machines in the suite! Really felt like a home away from home Not to mention the views were absolutely breathtaking!Room service food was excellent The service provided by all staff was absolutely unreal From the valet on the ground floor, to the front desk staff and the housekeeping staff – everyone was so friendly and really went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay When we were leaving, we had a late evening flight and the staff were able to accommodate us to check out late so that we could still explore the city during the day and come back to our room to shower and change Usually hotels are extremely stingy about their check-out times, I’ve never experienced such exceptional serviceTo top it all off, the location was excellent You’re within walking distance to everything in downtown Waikiki Lots of good food and shopping close byWe will definitely be staying here again the next time we’re in Waikiki!

This was my first time staying at a hostel and loved it so much I just booked a second stay The rooms were cleaned and were kept clean throughout my stay Staff is super friendly and answered all the questions I had

Parking spots are available for a reasonable daily fee compared to all the other places nearby Location is great! Walking distance to the beach and anything else you might need They offer daily tours for about $30 that includes transportation and are a great way to meet other people especially if you are traveling solo Kitchen is available to cook your own meals Great for those on a budget Rooftop was a nice place to hang out There is a staff member available 24/7 which is really convenient Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting and planning to stay near Waikiki Counting down the days for my next stay!

Joey Clark

The staff and management are great Great location Most of my week I stayed in a 6 mixed dorm

Met lots of interesting people from all over Then stayed a couple days in a semi private room in the next building, which was much more comfy Their tours are very affordable and have a lot of variety Only did one with them, but very much value The parking they offer is a good deal for the area, but there is also free parking by the zoo within a few minutes walking distance The 20 bus can get you there right from the airport one way is $275 or a day pass that you can buy at an ABC is $550

steffy malayil

Great place for a good price! Rooms are cleaned daily Has a refrigerator in the room as well as a common kitchen area Tours were awesome and the hostel is a great location close to the beach and plenty of food options! This was my first hostel experience and it was very memorable

Met some great people here! I stayed for a week until I left for Maui and chose to stay at this hostel again when I got back! Highly recommend!

JC Holcomb

The rooms are so so They don’t do room cleaning unless you pay for it, however you can exchange towels and such at the front desk The staff is great and very helpful

The location is at the far end of Waikiki, really good for families (proximity to zoo/beach/aquarium) If you’re looking for night life, most of it will be a half mile walk, doable but there are better places to stay for that The assigned parking is nice if want to pay for it

German R (Elegate)

To Roxy thank you very much for your hospitality and for going above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable one The location is great I liked it The prices are pretty competitive and parking is not too bad

Word of advice if you have a rental please call the hotel in advance so they can reserve a spot for you On the second floor they have a bar, Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand, which does gives a nice view of the Diamond Head The next time I go to Honolulu the Waikiki Grand Hotel is most definitely the first spot I’ll check out

Ying Li

My conclusion on this place: 1) You got what you paid for 2) I would not recommend this place 3) Location was the only good thing

Reasoning: 1) the whole shower set broke, cant shower at all Front desk personnel was not willing to change room (allow me to go to another room to shower) until the Wi-Fi was not working in that room 2) front desk personnel seems busy all the time, no patient with attitude Made a big deal of getting a blanket and bringing back a blanket

The rooms are EXTREMELY outdated but clean For the price, it’s a great deal The pools are disappointing, we didn’t even bother spending time there They are extremely small and located between two buildings Might be the saddest pools in WaikikiOverall, if you are looking for a budget option, it’s an decent choice But if you are looking for resort type of property, with nice pool and view, this isn’t the one

I booked my trip through beachbound I was very impressed with the service I received I brought back a lot of sand in our bathing suits and accidentally made a beach in our room

I called room service and they were very quick to come up and vacuum for us and with a smile The front desk was quick to answer any questions we had and very polite The room was spacious but simple which was perfect for my taste The staff made me feel like we were not guests but visiting family that they care about This made my trip easy, at home, and very welcomed I’ve never felt this well treated even by a higher end hotel I was very skeptical at first due to reviews I read but for my experience they were very very wrong Thank you for everything

The staff make the difference here, they were great! We picked the Malia for reasonable prices and weren’t looking for frills Room was clean and comfortable Location was central for walking but the street can be noisy if you’re a light sleeper

We were happy with our stay and thrilled with the staff!

The hotel was in a great location

walking distance from shops, restaurants, & the beach The front desk staff was very accommodating to us as we were a family group of 14 They gave us a free cot for 2 different rooms The rooms were large enough for each group The breakfast didn’t have a lot in the way of variety but it was enough for us The lobby area was great for our group for the evenings when we liked to play cards The rooms were cleaned nicely each day after our activities One night there as a lot of noise from the street until like 3am but certainly not the fault of the hotel The guy getting chair’s/luggage was kind of grouchy but I attributed that to the fact that he was always working–day & night with no day off that I noticed throughout our 8 day stay We thanked him for all he did putting up with us & tipped him our last day He did apologize although no apology was necessary If you’re on a budget & want a nice enough place to stay with free breakfast & close proximity to places I recommend it

This is a very nicely located hotel in the middle of everything you need The accommodations are very good, a little above the 3 star rating they have Everyone is friendly and the continental breakfast is also very good

After a fun filled day, I would enjoy sitting by the pond and relaxing with my wife before we went back upstairs to our room I highly recommend it

NOT AS DESCRIBEDI am not one to write a review but this place was so bad that I felt compelled to warn other travelers There are many places to stay in Honolulu, don’t choose this one Not as advertised

The pictures must be from 20 years ago We arrived in Honolulu at 11:30 pm, was told their parking lot was full and there was no street parking The hotel clerk gave us directions to a public lot which he said was a 5 minute walk away and they would validate the parking I asked him if it was safe to walk that distance at night and he said just be aware of your surroundings The parking garage was a 10 minute walk at best but because we found ourselves in the company of multiple people that appeared to be very intoxicated and several looked to be living on the streets, the 10 minute midnight walk felt like an eternity When we finally arrived to our room, it was dated, dirty, the sliding glass door wouldn’t lock and the air conditioner over our bed could not be turned down Just below our room on the street, people were partying until after 3:00 in the morning When we picked up our car the next day from the parking garage, we were charged an additional $2000 with the validation We were very disappointed in this property and if you are considering staying therecontinue your search

It is easy to go anywhere on the island from this location We had a very nice condo on the 13th floor Great sunset views and sunrises over Diamond Head

Reserve parking was a big plus, tight but very convenientWe would definitely stay here again Nice staff and security (Vincent) Absolutely made a big impression at check-in We felt safe coming and going at all hours

Ramona Hill

No services, you can use the pool next door but no one tells you that Noisy, run down, small room Currently under major construction and we were not warned

Rented through Newport Travel Slow elevators and when one of the 2 was shut down for the day they didn’t even bother to put signs up to tell guests it was out of commission Kitchenette included but wasn’t equipped with sufficient supplies to cook much and we had to clean things before we used them Washer dryer combo is nice, but it was dirty and is noisy to the point it sounds broken TV remote control numbers and volume didn’t work and the maintenance man just said to use the arrows and deal with it Furniture and surfaces are stained and old Mold on the shower ceiling Pros: On the plus side the bed was comfortable and the view was gorgeous You are just a few steps from the ocean We enjoyed our stay despite the place

The staff and location is what makes this place great! This is not a 5 star hotel but has a much more local feel The breakfast cafe in the lobby is just the right mix of local flavor and atmosphere and food We miss it already! The staff is outstanding from the front desk at check in to room service

I forgot a whole drawer of clothes and they boxed it up for me and sent it back to the mainland The rooms are older and the beds are really double beds that really won’t sleep two adults so take note They were more then accommodating with a role away but after traveling to Hawaii, probably don’t want to sleep on that The pool was closed but that gave us access to the other property pools that were right on the beach! Can’t complain about that for sure! Rooms need a remodel as showers are smaller and older but worked just fine Overall I’d stay there again for sure just because of staff, the cafe, and the location!

Okay so everyone at the hotel was great and friendly and the hotel itself was very clean Now for some of my complaints… the windows to the rooms appeared to be missing their seals or in need of replacements Because of the seals not being replaced we heard loud trucks, people outside yelling, ambulances and my favorite and the reason I am writing this post, construction

I’m sitting here writing this at 6 am because I can’t sleep with all of the beeping noises coming from the construction trucks down on the street below My next complaint would have to be the water temperature in the shower, whenever we did want to shower you’d have to let it run for at least ten to fifteen minutes to get it to a bare able temperature Lastly, something to consider before staying at this hotel is all the extra little fees You have paid for everything, then they hit you with $25 resort fees every day, but I’m not even sure what you are actually getting out of that when we are already paying hundreds to stay here Then if you want to park a car it’s $35 a day for guests and $50 for everyone else I guess I’m not understanding why there isn’t a better rate if we’re already paying that other fee We had an awesome time here in Hawaii but needed up spending the majority of our time in the north shore away from the crowds and loved it even more This hotel otherwise was not bad to stay at and it definitely got the job done for the little bit of time we spent in the room Again not a bad hotel but you ought to know these things before you choose to stay here

Jacob Martinez

Our stay here was top notch Such a perfect location to the beach, less than a 5 minute walk Staff was friendly, they provide beach towels as many as you need, and the rooms were clean and comfortable

Shower is small so be aware, and don’t leave your balcony doors open while you’re out, birds do fly by/in the room sometimes You’re close to all the best spots in Waikiki and the parking is pretty easy I’d highly recommend staying here!

We loved our stay at the Imperial Hawaiian! The staff were amazing from the moment we arrived We utilized the valet service which was excellent They had fresh towels for us when we needed them, a pool, sauna, and two outdoor hot tubs

The view of the sunset from the top floor was amazing We were within walking distance to almost everything in Waikiki, which was super nice since parking can be an issue at times Overall, our stay was great and we would definitely come back!

I’m not one to give reviews regularly; I hope this review helps We booked this hotel (2 adults, 2 children (14 and 18) I was nervous because the amenities and the price didn’t line up

We arrived and were not disappointed at all The room had 2 bedrooms with a pull-out bed Each kid got their own bed The staff was excellent The hotel has an ABC convenience store attached ABC has everything you would need (food, alcohol, coffee, Coke fountain machine, coffee and memorabilia)The room itself was nice although a little outdated but still nice (especially for the price) The location is great Walking distance (4 minutes) to the beach Restaurants and stores are literally next doorI highly recommend this resort

Staff was wonderful, kind, and incredibly helpful Rented some chairs for the beach at a bargain The rooms were spacious and very clean

My only complaints about the room was my pillows were a bit lumpy and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable Too firm for my liking The view from the owners lounge was spectacular and worth being an owner just for that Would definitely return to this resort next time in Waikiki if it’s available for my timeshare

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at! It has a really chill and friendly atmosphere which is great for relaxing or meeting new people It’s a great location – close to a lot of great restaurants, bars, the beach and shopping The staff and owners are quite friendly and helpful
