I had a great experience with this hotel The room was clean, it didn’t smell like mold, mildew or anything else funky The front desk clerk was nice and helpful, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious

Yes, the tub had a little rust around the fixture but it’s not a big deal The water was hot, the bathroom was clean and the service was great Some of the people complaining about things like that probably have little things here and there in their own homes that need a little maintenance The parking lot was spacious and it wasn’t crowded when i was there It was easy to park my truck and trailer in several spots without inconveniencing the other guests No complaints Well, there is one and it’s not the hotels fault, it has to do with Google maps Google led me to the parking lot of Best Western on Overland Trail The entrance to Hampton Inn is on West Lake That is really annoying when you are pulling a trailer and have been traveling for 9 hours Overland is a one way and the hotel parking lots do not connect so i had to go back out on the access road and make a big block to get to Hampton Inn I made an edit to Google maps, hopefully they accept and highlight the entrance to Hampton Inn

This was a horrible experience!!! It started at check in and just got worse!!! I booked and paid for our room on 5/9/22 and the payment cleared our account on 5/11/22 I get to check in on 5/16/22 and was told (in front of other customers) that my card had been declined and that I needed to pay for the room – see the above – PAYMENT CLEARED MY BANK ON 5/11/22 – 5 days before our check in I was humiliated

Thank God for mobile banking I was able to prove that the payment had cleared – I don’t like strangers looking at my banking info!! She had to call her manager to see what to do while my husband and I waited and others being held up with check in She came back and said that it had been fixed and checked us in We took our bags up to the room and left We came back and when we got into the bed it dipped in the top of the bed so that you felt like you sloping down toward the headboard We ended up sleeping with our head at the foot of the bed The mattress was very lumpy and hard to sleep on I have always bragged on Hampton Inn and Suite hotels but no more The good points were that they offered us free bottled water and had great coffee

We were so disappointed with the room We stayed in room 209 and didn’t expect the smell of old dirty wet socks when we walked in There was a strong mildew smell as we walked off the elevator

The bed covers on the bed also smelled of mildew The bed covers were stained as well There was rust stained on the tub We were there visiting the ACU campus and were staying just for 1 night So hotels were booked and we were stuck with this roomThe lobby was super clean and the breakfast area was clean and the food was greatI am a Hilton rewards member and expected more and my next visit to Abilene in August I will not be staying here

Responsive staff to our requests I really appreciated the Ice cold fruit- infused water dispenser in the lobby- that’s so much better than plastic bottles Great breakfast included scones and crisp make-your-own fresh waffles, and even gluten-free muffins

Exceeded our expectations They are renovating but it wasn’t really an issue In fact, the beds are brand new and super comfy

Seems a little dated There’s a single elevator to service the 3 floors – it’s on the small side and is a little slow, but it’s still faster than the stairs The room was OK – no USB plugs, so bring your chargers

Breakfast is separate purchase only – no continental breakfast The sausage was raw, so we ended up getting a refund and moving on down the road OK experience, but lots of room to improve

My daughter and I were traveling from Phoenix, AZ back to Madison, MS I decided that I would drive 13 hours and spend the night in AbileneThis hotel need a serious remodel; tubs are very old and have dirt in the groves used to keep you from falling and also had a ring around tub

We changed rooms and the next was better but you could still see slight brown color in the tub There was no lotion or Kleenex Actually they had a box on Kleenex hanging on wall in hallway 🤔Whomever is managing or owns this hotel is cutting corners I sat a box on floor that had my shoes in it When I picked it up I could see white dog hairs on it It’s not the worst place to stay but I won’t ever stay there again if in the areaIf you are use to staying in very nice updated hotels this Courtyard is not the one The staff was friendly but the hotel is way below Marriott standard

Christina Bove

Clean room and nice courtyard with pretty pool, but the bar service was some of the worst in that the bar tender poured my wine in a tall beer glass because of no wine glasses and he didn’t know scotch from ginAlso, the breakfast service was extremely slow They only have one person taking orders, making drinks, making food, and who knows what else

Abilene is a half way point for our busy growing family to meet for a quick get together Melissa is so kind, and shared in my excitement to plan a surprise getaway! The house is perfect, and so much attention to detail We were a party of 6 adults and one toddler

The best thing about our stay in Abilene was the Whitten Inn The cleanest hotel you will ever sleep in Super nice staff and lots of little touches that make it feel like your home away from home

Not fancy, but just right We loved that we had a view of their pretty courtyard Extra points for having bedbug proof mattress covers on their very comfy beds Highly recommend!

B H

They have relaxing cats and a nice pool But, come on, not even an outlet by the bed to charge your phone? Or an alarm clock? No breakfast despite being advertised on the Google listing No coffee in room

Furnishings look dated and damaged Room feels minimalist and cheap overall Next to Greyhound bus stationAnd what is with the religious paraphernalia in the room, is this a hotel or church?

Bonnie

This will now be my favorite place to stay when we pass through Abilene The staff is so kind and helpful The room is absolutely immaculate

The beds are comfortable and clean Great water pressure in the shower and a waterpik shower head! They accept pets with a reasonable fee There’s parking for large vehicles Room service is also available and if you don’t want that, there are 3 other restaurants who will deliver to your room No bugs No dust bunnies I am one happy guest and we’ll recommend the Whitten Inn to anyone stopping here Thank you, Whitten employees for a wonderful place to stay!!

Could not have stayed at a better location for a high school reunion this weekend Beautiful setting–the decor in these homes are first class On seeing our property for the weekend, one friend remarked that she would love to tour them all

So happy that we opted to stay in Cottage Clare instead of a hotel We got to spend so much more time laughing and catching up and loved every minute of our stay

William Curran

One of the most pleasurable travel accommodations I have had First, Terry is an amazing host Second, the place is really cool, quiet, comfortable, historic, and has a killer pool

As a traveler I hate corporate digs The Sayles house I stayed at, not only had a pool view, it is the family home of John Sayles, founder of Baylor Law School The room had a king bed and was so quiet Best night rest I have had in a while No BS I only woke to Terry himself making a real breakfast No Continental breakfast crap He is priced extremely competitively against local hotels If you come during the week he has specials It is a must to stay here if you are in Abilene Plus he knows some good local spots and history

Ben Hewatt

What an AMAZING place! Nestled among the beautiful historic homes of Abilene Sayles Blvd, this incredibly charming house has everything you could need for your get-away or photo shoot The Western theme has a magical touch to each room The beautiful pool, washer and dryer, full kitchen, and jacuzzi tub are just icing on the cake of this gem

The hotel was clean inside and out The staff was extremely welcoming upon arrival and very attentive all throughout our stay I love that they used text to communicate if you choose! Bed was comfortable, thermostat worked great, shower was good

Conditioner wasn’t provided but I usually pick mine so it was fine Overall I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Christine Tucker

Love the decor and thoughtful design of the rooms The curtain divider and the kitchenette are great Room was very clean

Sheets were super soft and the bed was very comfy Donna at the front desk called to let us know the room we wanted was occupied and moved us to an equally great roomThe breakfast was small but perfect with lots of to go items like biscuit sandwiches and frittatasWould totally recommend this hotel!

Yadira Maust

Great hotel They had a very nice breakfast and the rooms were very clean The entire staff was very friendly

I only deducted one star for the pool being a bit dirty It doesn’t seem to be filtered or cleaned There were a lot of dead bugs and leaves/twigs Our room was also next to someone with a yappy dog It woke our entire family before 7am We have a dog at home so we did not call and file a complaint but it meant a crabby 4yr old Overall, I would definitely book here again The clean rooms, kind staff, and location are great

This hotel was okay at best The elevator was on the brink of breaking down The floors were gross

The toilet was fixed with a piece of cardboard under it They told us the pool was open which is why we booked here and they said someone threw a beer in so it was closed It was green that’s definitely not from a beer They did let us use the pool next door though Also was dog or cat hair on the bottom of the bed on the bed skirt pretty bad Definitely wouldn’t recommend but it was ehh if you need a place to stay it’ll work

Tanya Anderson

After driving 7 hours to drop my kid off at college this hotel looked decent enough so we checked in to sleep and head back home the next day Upon entering the lobby I was pleasantly surprised to see a newly renovated entry with modern furnishings I reserved the room online for $100 so I feel like you get what you pay for so can’t really complain about the accommodations

Check in: The front desk clerk was quite nice but was quick to apologize about the “last room available with 2 beds” She explained she would need to let us into the room because the lock was broken 😳 Ye you heard that right She had to let us in and every time we went in and out she said we would need to just have someone let us into the room Totally not her fault but definitely not something that should be required when renting a room While I was off put by this I was beat down by the drive and unloading my son’s room So we took it and just agreed to sleep and not make the “no key” situation an issueThe room: nice enough, fairly clean but strange It looked like they partially renovated the room New floors and new bathroom vanity but all the furniture was really old and beat up The AC worked well but was extremely loud And the TV was probably a 20 inch The good thing about this room is it was huge! If you have a large family you will love it Lots of room for the kiddos to run around And there is a microwave and refrigerator in so what of an armoire type piece Another good thing is the beds The mattress slept well and the sheets were clean from what I could tellThe bathroom: It was basic, clean enough but again……strange The tub and shower were not renovated nor was the toilet but the vanity was clearly new Towels were basic, not hotel quality but they did the jobAs stated earlier in this review we stayed 1 night after a very long drive so we dealt with the issues To be clear, if it was anything more than checking in to sleep for 10 hours and get back on the road I would not have stayed a 2nd night It wasn’t gross but it was a disappointment given how nice the outside was in comparison to other hotels in the same areaThis hotel is actually a good option if you are short on cash or will only be in town briefly But if you are looking for a nice place to stay this is NOT your spot

Ashley Tatsch

Our stay was less than pleasant, which makes traveling with a young cold hard Our first room the AC was broken And when I went to the front desk about it, I was given attitude like I didn’t know how to adjust a thermostat

Finally we got a new room, and I had to move my child at 11:30pm My 4 year old immediately brought up a moldy smell when we walked in the new room I walked to the AC to check it, and the floor was soaked AC was leaking all over the carpet They brought me towels to lay down for the wet carpetThey had no ice machine, but a door where it should be was left open that was disgusting They had hotel paperwork on the deskAfter everything we went through they offered nothing to make our stay better! I tried to talk with the front desk, but after two “disconnected” calls and a trip to the front we left They just had a sign saying front desk was away I had to drive around town with my small child and dog trying to find somewhere else for us to stay the remainder of our time in town Would never recommend them!!

The Sovereign Life

I attended a meeting here I did not stay in a room With our meeting we had breakfast included

Breakfast was really good and made quickly They had potatoes, bacon, sausage, and biscuits & gravy for sides They would make eggs how you wanted them like scrambled, fried, or omelettes The meeting room was very nice with a large conference and water I would recommend the meeting rooms It was a great experience!

Emily Spotts

This is a nice hotel for the area A little outdated, and if you don’t mind the religious decor (for example there’s a 10 commandments statue in the atrium dining area), but it’s nearby several businesses and the mall and it’s cheaper than many other hotels Plenty of free parking, and the free breakfast is nice

Found the bed comfortable and the suite I was in had a microwave, mini fridge, and a TV in the living area as well as the bedroom The property is nice just older Would recommend you bring a little cash to tip the breakfast staff and housekeeping

Jason Lindsay

The Elegante provides good rooms with lots of amenities, all for a decent price When you walk into the lobby, there are brick vaulted ceilings and stone floors and a large open atrium beyond The atrium is styled like a Mexican hacienda with plants and a big fountain in the center with lots of tables and chairs – there are almost always groups of people there socializing

The rooms (at least the few I’ve been inside) have a small living room with a couch and dining/work table and television and a small kitchen The bedrooms are separated, so the unit feels like a small apartment Every room opens out onto the atriumThey have an indoor pool and hot tub, a workout room, an arcade, some pool tables, and the big atrium Every person that stays there is given four drink tickets per night of stay Adults can use those tickets for free booze until 7pm, which is served out of the atrium There is another large atrium towards the rear of the building that could hold events, wedding parties, stuff like thatThey have a full bar, the Remington Lounge, that stays open until 10pm The restaurant, the Remington, had a small fire recently and is still closed (at the time of this review on 4/2/22) The menu (see on their website) has a decent variety with fair prices Every morning they cook breakfast to order (also included with your stay) out in the atrium – coffee, juice, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, oatmeal, and many other choicesOverall, it’s a pretty good hotel Good luck finding another one that offers that much at that price point

Slept on springs, ac hummed up&down all night Hair on counters and items in bathroom Staff never greeted, recognized, or thanked us as guests as we were in&out or at checked out

Breakfast tasted stale, eggs&sausage links rubbery, coffee tasted watery and only basic creamer option for us coffee drinkers Pool was not operating Did not mention in website when we reserved Our family was disappointed That was the point of choosing here and not our usual

Slin S

Long check in process (I was only one there), b/c front desk was one person (Friday 4pm) and force to answer multiple phones loaded with multiple questionsLobby was hot, like the A/C was not working Room was adequate, but dated

First trip to the bathroom led to NO water being fed back into toilet after flush After adjusting water feed behind the toilet unsuccessfully, I requested maintenance Quick response and took about 10 mins to fix When I inquired what the issue was, I was instructed when it happens again, lift toilet back lid and reach into tank, shake some tubes, and should be good to goObviously I’m not interested in sticking my hand in the toilet every time we flush, on top of the overall oddities of this less-than desirable of Hampton Inns, we immediately checked outNaturally, there was no manager and the phone number I was giving went unanswered, while ‘backup’ number was a fax machineI reached out to Hilton Honors for assistance and literally 90 minutes later, had no resolve or money backStill deciding to leave, the front desk agent was finally able to reach GM The GM was defensive, combative, and unwilling to refund our money (we’ve been at the hotel for 2 hours, 1 hr 45 mins of that in lobby), but GM was upset that I was pursuing a refund Obviously, the cause of all the issues (A/C, low staffing, dated decor, questionable toilet operations, etc) is due to bad management The GM seems to forgotten customer service is supposed to the primary goalWe’ve since avoid Hilton brand hotels, after being allegiant since 2010

A great place to stayThe hotel is a delight for a great night’s sleep The room I stayed in was spacious and well appointed

The bed was very comfortable and the shower hotThe hotel is pleasing to all the senses and especially to my nose in that there is a neutral scent throughoutThe staff is very friendly, and they came up straight away when my TV wasn’t working and they fixed itBreakfast was wonderful To my surprise, the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy and delicious! The bacon was real bacon and also fried just rightIt’s conveniently located to many restaurantsA few detractors: Getting in to the hotel could be easier, the shower head is too low, there was hair in the tub, there could be more overhead lighting in the room and electronic connectors for my phone and tablet that workThe pool looks great but it’s closed for the season (why?), and the fitness center is small but you could still get a good workoutSo overall it’s worth the price for all the wonderful things that you get

My dear sweet mother in law pass away and we had family coming in from out of town I called the hotel and they were very nice and blocked some rooms for us We also rented the meeting room for a luncheon and everything came out perfect

Great rooms, and great service from the staff Especially great service from a girl named Trinity at the front desk We had trouble getting the tv working for my daughter to watch cartoons

I called the front desk, and she didn’t hesitate to offer to come up to the third floor to fix the issue herself She come to our room and resolved that, and even called after she got back downstairs to offer our little girl some ice cream Give this kind lady a raise
