Overall it’s wasn’t bad Rooms and bathroom were clean and beds well made Want to give 5 stars but except for Kevin, front desk staff can be more on top of things and better trained

I also appreciated Kevin’s knowledge of getting around Midway Airport Had to pickup my family at airport at 1:00am and preferred not to get lost like in O’Hare

F F

Alyssa checked us in she was super sweet and helpful made us feel welcomed The room was clean and housekeeping even gave us extra towels Maria checked us out she was super busy but she took the time to make us feel important and made sure we had everything we needed before we left to the airport

With customers service like these two ladies gave us we would always choose doubletree

James Milks

This was a last minute choice due to flight delays, but it was enjoyable and conveniently located near Midway airportThe free shuttle was also convenient and appreciated, as it is less than a 10 minute driveRooms were clean and quiet, hotel restaurant was ok but not spectacular

Lots of airline crews checking in, which I considered a good sign

This place is absolutely fantastic It’s so well designed, Beth is kind and friendly, but also gives you your privacy The house is so incredibly charming, and each little detail is anticipated

We stayed in the Jimmy Stewart suite, and from the towel warmers to the lovely bed linens, every inch of the room was relaxing and comfortable We will definitely be staying here anytime we come to Chicago or Oak Park

This place is not worth the price The smoke detector was missing, the mattress pad would slip off the bed, the bed had a huge stain, they are pet friendly but have no grass for pets (you have to trespass to a school across the street), they’re next to a busy road where you can hear the traffic all night, and they’re in a low income place that feels sketchy The only compliments are the breakfast is good and the customer service is mostly okay

The place doesn’t feel clean at all Definitely not worth it And there are no good food places around

Corey Gregory

I stayed there on business to which the company I work for has a contract with them It was a very pleasant stay Great rooms with no issues

I work nights and it was fairly quiet during the day Good location with lots of restaurants in the area The only issue was parking was a little tight Great hot breakfast Employees were amazing I rate hotels fairly hardly and I really was surprised by this places overall experience I would have to highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a room in the area

Heather Monroe

Stayed here for two nights while in town for a concert Location isn’t bad but the hotel itself is nasty Our room was filthy

The bathroom was even worse The room was very old and outdated Carpet was nasty and dirty Bathroom wasn’t cleaned or sanitized before our arrival There were balled up pieces of trash stuffed in the corners of the bedroom and bathroom walls For the price we paid we should’ve at least received a cleaned room If your looking for a “cheap” hotel to stay at while in town, do yourself a favor and spend the money on a nicer hotel This place made me feel so dirty Never again

Bobbie

Truck driver friendly We were able to Bob tail here and park Breakfast is delicious

Hot foods include sausage patties, fried eggs, potatoes, hot and cold cereals, bagels, donuts, yogurt and make your own waffles For 6 floors it’s very quiet You get 3 king size bath towels along with hand towels and wash cloths Kevin at the front desk is full of information and very helpful! You’re surrounded by restaurants (Texas rd House) I highly recommend it!

Samir Atiya

The room was fairly large and the bed/bedding was comfortable but the fourniture was dated Everything from the entrance to the room was clean (surprisingly more and more of a rarity in hotels nowadays) The staff was friendly and they do offer breakfast (didn’t try it)

My main concern is regarding the price which I think it’s a bit high for the quality of hotel I’d give it 35 if I could

Jay Michelle

Front desk ‘Andrew’ was super nice and understanding! Great hot breakfast and comfy beds with no bed bugs Had to change rooms soon after due to ants all over the table near air conditioner

A few of them accompanied us to Navy Pier Ewwww Once we switched rooms all was fine and dandy until we turned on the AC which sounded like an old broken-down air compressorI chose to stay cool with no sleep rather than sweat Believe it or not I would stay again Manager ‘Josh’ is supposed to chat with me especially since I spent almost $400 We’ll see 🤔

Clean hotel, good breakfast We ended up needing a room overnight for an unexpected flight delay so we didn’t really check out any other amenities The shower had the best water pressure I’ve had in a hotel in a while

When we checked in the lady didn’t seem super enthused to be there, but it was late The guy at checkout was super friendly Overall it was a nice hotel

Cory Whigham

My family was stranded by a cancelled flight out of midway around 1am the morning of august 11th with 2 little kids the moment I called the front desk clerk(wish I could remember her name) she was more than accommodating, friendly, and helpful When we got there she had already had new sheets on a pack and play for our son

She offered toothbrushes and necessities since we didn’t have our bags with us She made our bad night much better The front desk lady in the morning was just as great and helpful with everything as well along with very friendly The rooms were comfortable and breakfast was decent as well with that lady being very helpful and friendly as well Would recommend this hotel simply due to the customer service received

Blayre Millard

Do yourself a favor by saving yourself a headache and night of sleep Don’t stay here The traffic is so loud (even on a Sunday night at midnight)

The beds are not queen beds Our shower drain didn’t drain well so the tub filled up as you were showering The door to the bathroom was so heavy, good luck closing it or opening it The attached restaurant has excellent food but was so slow And prepare to pay $20 a night for parking…yes this is just a standard holiday inn with a normal parking lot

My partner and I recently stayed here for a small weekend getaway and I’m so happy we did Everything was lovely James went above and beyond to make sure we knew all the services the hotel provides

He recommended meals for us to try and helped us with any questions we had David our server at the hotels restaurant was kind and attentive It was wonderful to see people who truly love their job, working at such a wonderful place

I stayed here for a few nights (passing through for work) and my whole experience was amazing! From check-in to room service to the lounge to dining! ALLOF IT

The staff in all departments are so friendly Iris and Christopher were especially helpful and hospitable during our dining and lounge experience The rooms are beautiful The amenities are plentiful! Highly recommended! I’ll for sure return next time I’m in the area

Stephen Cullen

I had an excellent experience with Joshua I checked in late at night in the early hours of the morning due to travel He was able to help me quickly workaround an issue with the 3rd party online reservation company I used, and put me in a beautiful room

The room was gorgeous He also recommended a nearby restaurant that delivered late, after I had been at the airport all day Both the service and the rooms are A+ The hotel is also nestled in a beautiful surrounding community It’s a First Class and White Glove experience at the Drake

Crowne Plaza is an IHG hotel, which is why I stay there However, I while I honor the chain, I question the “pay for breakfast” option – the quality and selection of which is comparable to any other free continental at most other hotels The bar is adequately stocked – but not incredible, and the rooms are about par for their price

What saves this review from being 3 stars is Heather at the front desk She is kind and intelligent, super responsive and worthy of at least a raise and bonus Where the hotel itself was lackluster, she provided the shine and then more

Andreas Scholz

Hearing protection required! This hotel is located directly at the Interstate with paper thin walls and windows This was a hell of a night

To be fair, they have rooms facing the rear but said they were all sold outAt checkin we were told about the hotel breakfast The next morning we were asked to pay for it even though it was never mentioned before In addition the breakfast is average at mostThis was the one and only time I stayed there Only giving it 2 stars because the rooms were clean and the bed was decent

Jacob Payne

Nick and Kelley made my business trip much better Nick was always on top of it at the front desk and took care of everything I needed even though he was definitely doing double shifts and had every reason to not help me out, even when working on his birthday! After a long days work Kelley was a welcome sight at the bar/restaurant and took care of me and my coworkers and went above and beyond what I expected from this hotel These two along with the friendly front of house staff and shuttle drivers made my trip much more pleasant

Lucy, from the front desk is fabulous I cannot say enough about her kindness, her attention to detail and her genuine concern for creating a pleasant experience for guests She truly went above and beyond to ensure that I was taken care of after a canceled flight and a long day of travel

I spend about half the year in hotels and Lucy truly stood out by providing next level customer service Thank you!

Pretty nice place to stay, clean rooms, friendly staff, showers with water pressure, comfortable beds, I really have no complaints about this placeSome reviews have mentioned problems with sounds from the trainyard but they didn’t bother me at all in my room It was also really nice going walks on the sidewalk paths as opposed to the usual hotel experience of pure parking lot and nothing else

Service was great but it is an older hotel The rooms had a weird smell and the towel I used had a slight cigarette smell The bed was clean

There is a shuttle that goes to Midway which is why we stayed here The shuttle is convenient but keep in mind the front desk needs you present in order to call it The shuttle can be available every 20 minutes It’s a pretty large shuttle that is shared with other hotels so there’s plenty of space but there could be many people as well We were flying with 10 pieces of luggage and everything fit

tristan brown

The location is great and overall the hotel was clean and in good order The beds are a little small but for 2 people (1 per bed) it is not that bad Was here for 2 nights

I was very disappointed when it comes to having the rooms refreshed I don’t think they even came into the room They didn’t make the beds or put new towels, water cups, or take out the trash I think it’s time to start changing rooms every night or checking out and checking back into a different room They can do a 20 min clean or a full clean every day Had asked for new towels and asked for 2 more bed pillows I was able to get the towels The staff was supposed to come and give me the pillows but never showed up or even called to let me know anythingBreakfast was very disappointing we had peanut butter and jam but no bread or Bagels There were no waffles It was simply cereal and a sausage biscuit

Debra Westbrook

Nice hotel for a weekend visit and the location was excellent Typical hotel issues not enough towels and our fridge was not cold would not stay cold even after it was repaired

Shout out to Suzette doing breakfast she was amazing and very helpful in telling us about different things around the city Shout out to the manager that allowed us an early check-in and a late check out which worked excellent with our travel plans overall service was amazing

Nice hotel in the cluster of hotels near Chicago Midway Airport The room was nice and was a good rate for the areaThe cafe / Starbucks downstairs is nice

However I had an issue where a member of the staff came into my room in the evening after I checked it They did not knock and used the manual key to enter without my consent I reported this to the staff at the front desk and they said they will investigate However this is still unacceptable behavior for a hotel staff member, so even though I expect this to be an outlier I want to warn anyone else considering this hotel

Nova Talukder

This hotel is good for a one night stay but nothing more The day we checked in, the hotel maintenance had done a deep cleaning of all the carpets in the rooms but we didn’t know that and walked into soaking wet carpet and obviously it’s not a good feeling to be walking on that We told the front desk and later a guy came with a fan to dry it but of course that was no help at all

Breakfast was good at the bistro If you need the airport shuttle, make sure you stand outside or else they’ll leave without even stopping and you’ll end up waiting longer than 20 minutes as it comes every 20 minutes The first time the shuttle completely passed the hotel without stopping so we waited an extra 20 minutes (40 minutes total) so be prepared for that So like I said, it’s only good for a one night stay

Chauncey Williamson

My stay was wonderful because most of the time was spent with family but because of sleeping arrangements I had to sleep on the couch and I tossed and turned all night so I didn’t get to sleep well like I normally do In spite of that the Hotel was great! The nice flavored water in the lobby quenched my thirst every time although I didn’t get a chance to go swimming I bet the pool was super awesome as well and I’d definitely stay there again but next time I get the bed 🤣☺️

Old building with the old building smell, peeled off wallpaper even in a suite room, ugly dark gray carpeting, dusty-looking cables, mold smells The room I got smelled humid and moldy and there was a plastic wrapper on the floor (see pic) My nose was starting to itch, and that was how I knew the room air wasn’t too clean

I immediately asked them to change a room The receptionist that day was super professional and helpful, and is the only reason I’m giving this place three stars than two I was upgraded and it got slightly better, but the room is still old looking and there isn’t much taste in furniture At least it was “clean”, it’s just too old The bathtub faucet was dripping a bit The window unit ac is really loud—I’m usually fine with some white noise but the noise was pretty noticeable Basically, if you’re picky about cleanness, newness, don’t book this place Even tho the person was nice about changing a room for me, I feel like the wrapper and the moldy air situation shouldn’t have happened in the first place Also, the person next day who checked me out was less friendly…so, I think i shouldn’t say this place has great receptionists, but that it really depends on who you end up with The photos they post on their website are very misleading

Stayed here last week- Lobby and lounge looked great and inviting, baseball theme on point Staff very friendly and responsive Historical, old and quaint charm is great

Bathroom original style tile is charming Good location However…… Online says complimentary breakfast is offered- when actually there is no breakfast of any kind Outside curb appeal unkempt- landscape and fencing is in poor condition, front canopy and entry very unkempt Our room did not look like online description and smelled stale: old, dark, stained and worn carpet, furniture and decor dark and out dated- felt dirty, peeling old wallpaper throughout room, corners and cords dusty, living room missing wall art while hooks still on wall, broken desk leg, hole in ceiling above hall closet sink area, several holes in bathroom walls, ceiling fans are 20 years old, shower head didn’t work right, hair in guest fridge, shower rod falling off wall, couch- soiled, several torn areas and smelled so didn’t dare open sofa bed, all pillows were flat and lumpy, several soiled and stained pillow cases, poor caulking holding up sink shelf… Very overpriced ($400+/n) for what is offered and advertisement is not at all equivalent of what is received Very Disappointed!!

nunthewizr

Single room was extremely small for the price we paid Hotel is clean but very dated but understandable for an older building Drop off and unloading area was on a packed one way street with limited spots to even park near entrance

Hotel does not have parking but offers a daily rate at a local garage for $25 per day However, if you have a truck or bigger vehicle you can’t park there You have to park three blocks away in a sister lot and walk back to hotel No fast food restaurants or sidewalk cafes nearby either Window AC is inches from the bed and loud Would not stay here again unless I lived in Chicago Management was super friendly so that is a plus

My boyfriend and I are members of IHG hotels and almost exclusively book at Holiday Inn Express when we travel within the US for the excellent value provided—the clean and spacious rooms, pool, gym, computers/internet, and the endless options at the free continental breakfast buffet

I have stayed at 4 Holiday Inn Express locations this year so far and this one was the worst of them all The staff was nice though not exceptionally kind, and the breakfast was great as per usual, but the building is in terrible shape Discolored carpets were the first bad thing I noticed in the hallway on the way to my room, and upon entering room 113, I noticed a musty, earthy smell and grayish splotches all over the ceiling The room felt exceptionally humid, despite the thermostat being set to 68 degrees F and there being an obvious stream of AC running into the room From my educational/work background, I am positive this is a clear example of a sick building Someone else here noted in their review that the room humidity when they stayed was 82%, which is indeed hazardous for human health as mold will surely grow in the building—and already is This was not the quality of room I expected from a Holiday Inn Express I was really sad and disappointed to see this room, reminiscent of a cheap motel This type of experience is the reason I book with Holiday Inn Express as opposed to other hotels Luckily the next night I stayed in a different, beautiful Holiday Inn Express location, so I am sure this one is an outlier Please do better… the state of this location is a shame!

Heather Cousineau

This hotel was ok, but not quite up to the standards I expect for a holiday inn express The walls are thin, you can hear road noise as well as conversations in rooms nearby The room itself was a nice size, with comfy beds and plenty of pillows

The bathroom wasn’t quite as clean as I would prefer There were dark hairs in the shower/tub as well as on the floor The breakfast was lackluster, but I settled for cereal and called it enough The front desk gal was very helpful, and the shuttle driver was nice

Kelli Hamilton

The building is brand new, but already looking aged Seems like maybe the original build was not the best Our toilet paper holder was already separating from the wall and there was edging missing on the bathroom cabinets

The dining area smelled strongly of mold, so much so that I couldn’t sit there to eat I likely wouldn’t stay there again

The hotel was nice, clean and has a well lit parking area As a female traveling alone, that is very important There were restaurants nearby that were open late

The staff were friendly and I love the digital check in and out The bed was comfortable The room was really nice and modernized If I had to pick one “bad” thing, this location does not give out free water to Hilton Honors members like several of the other Hampton hotels But overall, a very nice stay Would recommend and I plan to come back

S R

Accept for few miniature things, we had an amazing stay The majority of staff was so welcoming, paying attention to our needs

our room was in excellent condition Breakfast was absolutely amazing and showed they really cared Hotel was in great condition overall and it was quite place and secluded for a perfect privacy They did not have a jacuzzi in the pool area which was a bummer but we still really enjoyed it

Kalla Mahar

I’m really not sure how to rate this hotel The room was very small and the beds were not easily accessible to the top bunk The TV was hard to see bc of the bed poles

The one night worker, Joe was not very helpful at first, but got better, I guess Sherry however, was AMAZING There were ants all over our room when we got back Saturday afternoon They had no spray When we used a wash cloth to try to wipe up the ants the wash cloth was filthy dirty like it hadn’t been mopped before we were there We had no garbage bags in the garbages Finally after telling them the ants were in the beds and one bit my mom Sherry went and bought ant spray and found an out of order room for us to use for the night It was even smaller than the other one And obviously didn’t have everything since it was out of order, but I’m thankful she tried She took off half of each nights stay for the issues we experienced The pool is an bad accident waiting to happen The water doesn’t drain around the pool and there are puddles Kids were falling and getting hurt I reported it and they said they knew that it drains slowly and they have someone that will be working on it or is working on it The food was okay, but things were not refilled for the morning I was there right when it opened and I had to ask for them to refill the sugars For a Hilton I expected better

Lovely hostel experience! Check in was simple and accommodating Clean and tidy room Great outdoor sitting space out back

If you get there early enough, they have parking available- which I definitely recommend splurging to get if you bring a car To park on the street, I noticed you needed to have a permit The breakfast in the morning was simple yet good too

Absolutely fantastic place We traveled from Tampa, FL to Chicago and needed a late check-in since our flight got in at 11:55pm They were more than accommodating and friendly about the situation

No issues at check-in, super easy process We stayed in a private quad room It had a large shower and bathroom included in our room There was a sink, desk with lamp, and closet There were plenty of outlets to charge our phones We always travel with travel pillows and extra blankets The pillows were nice but I would suggest bringing your own blanket if you can Our room was cold, which I prefer, but it was cold (mid-May) I felt safe and it was actually very quiet I would suggest bringing $1 bills and quarters for the vending machines We don’t typically eat breakfast but there were bananas that we snagged Would definitely stay here again It was perfect for what we needed as we were out and about in Chicago all day

Check in was super easy!! shout out to Scott at the front desk- thank you homie! The shared kitchen/entertainment space is pretty dope, met a couple of really cool people! Each room is a private room, super clean and weirdly smells good! The shared bathrooms were clean, plenty of space, and not overly used so you mostly get privacy! The location is awesome!!!!!! A few minute walk to several bus stops, and in a nice area too! They even have luggage storage so you can roam around the city after check out! The front desk is open 24/7 and their super helpful!! 100% will come here again and already recommending it to my fellow travelers!

Honest review: it has been a great spicy stay with my significant other! The pros of this location- private entry, easy access & carrying luggage to room, beautiful rooms, clean, elegant, and the spa jetted tub is to die for So are the showers I wish they had microwave because once I get into this hotel, I plan to not leave & enjoy the beautiful hotel

The atmosphere around you feels like you’re ready to get it on! They sell s$x toys at front desk, and other amenities The beds are comfyThe negatives/cons are… my bed was awfully squeaky the shower head isn’t burning hot water in my “aspire” room, also neighbors!! What really takes away from the experience is hearing outside the doors, the cleaning ladies I could hear everything they were doing, as if they were right outside my door Also, it’s awfully close to the airport, meaning you constantly hear the plane leaving and going every 5-10 minutes, so everything was amazing but… Noise!! I want to fully feel/be secluded & it was weird spicing things up hearing conversations & people passing the doors like they could also hear what goes on in the room

Bed made, bathroom clean with plenty of dry towels The room needed to be wiped down It was so many webs and cob webs in the room

A spider🕷crawling from the glasses 🥂 There’s no one to essort you to your room to explain how things work Was very helpful with calling the room because my trunk was open Need more customer service training on how to greet people It’s close by a local fast food restaurant

I really enjoy coming to the axis on Pulaski,it’s a little getaway for my partner and I,but our recent visit this year was disrupted by some loud rude banging on the door at about 5 am And it’s not the first time we’ve had this happen,we return cause we love the tub hoping it will be quieter and more relaxing just keeps happening at odd times of the night I reached out to let them know and was told to provide my number for a follow up call and never received a call

Amazing location, especially if you’re taking the L There are a lot of nearby restaurants and bars – with that comes some late night noise from other patrons on the street The rooms are small but were adequate

This is an old building and has exposed old-fashioned radiators in both the bathroom and room, something to be aware of for kids Friendly desk staff We had a room at the front of the building on the 2nd floor, and there was a lot of street noise from cars and people

Rosa Morales

It’s ok No parking available, so we had to drive about 3 miles down the road and park at a parking garage that is owned by a separate company

Hotel was clean, but very out dated, and it looked like the only thing they had done to update it was add more paint and a few modern paintings and art pieces on the walls The bed was soft but the pillows were pretty firm for down pillows Lots of mirror space in the bathroom but the toilet was in the center of the mirror so made it a little awkward when two people tried to get ready at once The corner room we stayed in was very loud, and we could constantly hear the elevator going up and downOverall, the hotel itself wasn’t terrible, but paying over almost $200 for a single night left us disappointed

Crystal Norrell

We liked the great location where we could walk to most places The bed was fairly comfortable as well It was pretty loud and creaky probably due to the age of the hotel

We were kept up a little late and woken up pretty early by the people above us Really, the worst part for me was the smell As soon as you walk in the door it smells really weird and the room smell was even worse Almost make me gag every time we walked in Luckily I adjusted to it in the room each time we came back in to sleep

I really liked the room environment quiet and peaceful with clean sheets but old towels were in the closet place just laying dirty Also, while completing my assignment for school Staff member cut the WI-FI off while submitting my work could not believe it Thanks for having good Professor at my University I did not get 10 % deduction for failing to submit my work on time

Hristo Yankov

I am not picky and usually very easy to please, all I need is clean sheets and a quiet night I wouldn’t even complain about the whiff of marijuana I caught around the premisesBut when the neighbors next door wake me and my entire family up at 2am, (including 14yo daughter), by banging (on) the bed against the wall, this is where I draw the line for acceptable accomodations
