Service was great, food was delicious Great atmosphere We had the family style all you can eat meal, the food was so good that I forgot to snap pics

The amount of sides that you get with the family style meal is amazing and they keep the bowls full It’s all you can eat fried chicken with corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, dumplings gravy, coleslaw and biscuits, but to get the family style meal you have to have at least 3 people in your party

Jan Cooper

We spent 9 nights at the lodge and ate here for breakfast and several dinners and enjoyed all of the meals Love the all you can eat fish fry and fried chicken dinnersThe rooms at the lodge are comfy and clean, with refrigerators and coffee pots

They still have water heaters so no continuous hot water so we had to space our showers If only they had a microwave they would be perfect

Christine Hardwick

Stayed here for a night to attend the SIU open house Wonderful experience! I read the reviews of the hotels in town and actually wanted to sleep after a 5 hour drive – not listen to bar music all night Found this gem and happy I did

The lodge and forest are worth the visit itself but it’s the people who really make it! Friendly and accommodating with great information about local things to do The restaurant staff were attentive and recommendations were spot on (salmon and BBQ chicken!) The cabins are clean with comfy beds, absorbent towels (I hate those cardboard ones at some places!), and good water pressureRecommend if you want a bit of peace and quiet that’s close to town

My husband and I stayed here last weekend It’s very clean with a warm and inviting atmosphere! Barb and Jim are great host The breakfast she made for us the two mornings we were there was very delicious and we definitely got plenty to eat

They think of everything to make your stay special and comfortable Barb was very helpful with ideas and a map for places to go Kite Hill Winery has some great wines and a beautiful view Their Peach Ballini Slush is so good I would recommend their B&B and winery If we get a chance in the future we will definitely plan on staying here again!

After a week of disappointment in our Airbnb, we were ecstatic to return to our “go-to”, Holiday Inn Express for the last leg of vacation! Holiday Inn Express simply does it better than the others! Every single time we’ve stayed with them it’s been fantastic! The rooms are very clean & very spacious The beds & bedding are extremely clean & oh so comfortable (I even ordered their pillows from their website because I love them that much!) The breakfast is always hot & delicious, the pool is always fantastic & they are very pet friendly! Just because you’re traveling with your pet doesn’t mean you should have to stay in a “lesser” version of the rooms & Holiday Inn Express understands this & offers fantastic rooms for ALL of their patrons! Also, their pet fee is completely reasonable, unlike their Airbnb competitors If only there were a Holiday Inn Express in every corner of the world, we’d never stay anywhere else! We love it here! It’s “home away from home!”

Pros: Cabin was easy to find & very clean 2 kitchens made for easy meal prep Hot tub was fantastic

View was wonderfulCons: No place to hang any clothes, if you had such a need Upstairs bathroom exhaust tan doesn’t workFire pit area a mess from the last group ( cans/bottles/trash)

The cabins are beautiful and I loved staying there The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that the stove was broke upstairs and the stop top/burner downstairs was broken Also a lot of the pots and pans were scratched and there wasnt a full set of silverware for how many beds there was

Overall a great experience juse a few details to make it 5 stars

Patty D

Loved it! It is exactly as is shown We were in Cabin 1 and the only thing missing is a table There is a “bar” in the living room, but it rained a lot and was cold while we were there so we wanted to play games (NO wifi or cell service for TMobile) and there’s no table to due so, comfortably

There are folding chairs in a closet downstairs Just no table We would go back at a time when the weather is better so we could sit outside Although we didn’t use it, the hot tub was the cleanest I’ve ever seen and the cabin was just as clean That’s a big deal for me Thank you!

This was one of the nicest locations that we have stayed at We were greeted enthusiastically and kindly Checked in on the app and chose our room

The digital key didn’t work but that was resolved quickly with no issuesThe room was a really nice size and accommodated all needsOur room faced the road and there was minimal road noise, that was really nice!!We definitely will be staying here again!!

Terence Ogden

The employees were great! Nice and friendly Now with that out of the way, the elevator was broke the duration of my trip Caused me and my 80 yr old aunt to walk up flights of stairs each time

In addition, caused our rooms to not be cleaned There was no communication about the elevator or room cleaning at all Never received any new towels or toiletries This is not the service I’m accustomed to from Hampton Inn or Hilton brand hotels I was there for a funeral and needed less stress That was not my experience

Everyone we encountered was kind and room was clean and coolOnly bummer with this visit being the pool and hot tub were both drained/closedOtherwise, breakfast was actually really good (fresh) with the usual eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage links

The individual working breakfast was always moving, keeping the area clean, asked if everything was okayAs far as location, it was very easy to access, traffic not bad and within walking distance from a BBQ place or a couple fast food locationsWould visit again if in the area

(Stayed in room 323 for one night)This Fairfield Inn is conveniently located off the interstate This property is well-maintained and clean, which cannot be said about other chains more “upscale ” brands we’ve stayed at The rooms and guest corridors are in need of an update, however, as they are showing their age, and don’t match the renovated lobby and breakfast area, which were renovated prior to COVID, apparently

Aside from that, the front desk agents and breakfast area attendants were all friendly We’d stay here again if our travels bring us through Marion

Terre Lynn

If you are traveling with a dog at this is an excellent place to stay A bit secluded with huge field next door Where they can go off leash Super clean and comfortable with excellent staff

Liquor store within a block and good dining options very closeFresh coffee available at 4 amFor me it doesn’t get any better and I will be back

What a wonderful placeit really was a home away from home feeling Continental breakfast was wonderful there was a huge selection from waffles, oatmeal, biscuits, omelettes, yogurt, fresh fruit and more

The swimming pool was refreshing with plenty of towels and the room was warm and very well kept They had gas grills tables and chairs and rooms were well stocked with any thing you would need

Etta Wallace

This establishment was dirty and disgusting They were less than accommodating I am traveling at the local hospital and this is the number one hotel that was recommended, I DO NOT AGREE! I work night shift and asked for a late check out which would be 3 hours after the original check out time and they said no, that I would have to pay for a whole extra night for those few hours

How is this supposed to accommodate the MANY travel nurses that they have at the hospital?! Was very rude when I askedThere was also not one but three ROACHES in my room When I let the front desk know, the woman told me that management comes in at 830 and would give me a call They never did I had to call them 5 hours later after not receiving a call and she didn’t seem to care at all Not one apology and asked me what I wanted her to do I do not recommend this place to anyone It looks nice on the photos but is really dirty

Christie Ross

After arriving late in the night, it was awesome to come into a room that was spotless and the room temperature was perfect The next morning we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful guy, Joe, who made sure we had everything we needed for a yummy breakfast Joe was so very personable and kind

Home2Suites is lucky to have such a welcoming and hospitable employee

My husband and were traveling for a somewhat distressing purpose and the Train Inn gave us the recharge that was needed to take on the day It was the perfect alternative to a generic hotel, at a better rate! The space is very warm, inviting and very comfortable It is also filled with history

The guest host Marion was magnificent! She was friendly and a joy to talk to The breakfast was fantastic! Best lodging breakfast I’ve ever had The blueberry pancakes were seriously the best I’ve ever had She even made me German style soft boiled eggs, which were wonderful! Marion was not only a pleasure to talk to, but she gave us lots of privacy as well Highly recommend the Train Inn for any type of travel

Chris

I was fortunately enough to stay at the Train Inn from the 29th-31st of July and it was one of the best B & B experiences I’ve ever had!!! The Train Inn’s location is perfect for those who are looking to have easy access to campus or to re-live campus life (like in my case) if only for a weekend I went down for a friend’s wedding and had such a nice stay with Paul and Teresa Both were very warm, friendly and accommodating

Paul is an AMAZING cook and both served me a delicious gourmet breakfast/brunch each morning The house is beautiful and quite a treasure and they even had a hot tub I could use!! Thank you so much Paul and Teresa, you gave me a weekend of nostalgia I will never forget!!

Elaina Mullins

The Train Inn, Inc is absolutely the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at The house is beautiful and full of charm

The food is outstanding! I would describe my breakfast experience with one word – royal The best thing about The Train Inn, however, are it’s hosts Paul and Teresa are fabulous hosts; they are kind and generous, and make you feel nothing more than welcome and comfortable As I sat and talked with them I felt as if I were chatting with old friends This B&B deserves all the patronage it can get If you are passing through Carbondale, you MUST stay at The Train Inn, Inc You won’t regret it!!!

Where should I start Great place to stay for Grandparents coming to visit Amazing extended stay rooms

Very welcoming even to large families The staff here are on the top of the line trained and the management is off the charts Our family was all around happy Great place with pets as well My American bully loves it here also and is treated just like family Clean rooms nice beds great location So if you are looking for a night stay to hang in a heated pool with friends or a meeting for your company, grandparents , dog lovers , in town workers this is the perfect place in Marion FIVE STARS!!! Almost forgot the breakfast is delicious

Maeve Charles

The hotel was in the middle of a renovation during my stay The rooms are decent sized and the beds are comfortable but the carpet was filthy The continental breakfast was decent with a few hot items, but it was not a full breakfast

The location is convenient and easy to get too off of interstate 57, and there are plenty of good restaurants close by, including ihop,, Culver’s, Logan’s roadhouse and Jimmy John’s, as well as more I would hope that as part of the renovations to the rooms they will be replacing the carpets

Chelsea Bobet

Okay so Shaylynn helped me at the front desk I have NEVER had a receptionist be so considerate and nice I had already gone to 3 hotels that were booked, didn’t have computers, or no pets

Shaylynn helped me out so much!! She went ahead and gave us the last pet room they had available and because of all my issues that night, she even gave me the king suite for the price of a regular room I SO appreciate her She belongs in customer service 10 out of 10 recommend staying here
