Super friendly staff, everything was working wonderfully(toilets, sinks, etc), clean rooms, affordable and so accommodating Absolutely love this and I have no complaints! There is a fog horn you can hear but honestly it’s was so faint you don’t hear it in the day and at night is was faint and honestly soothing to hear however they offer rooms away so it’s harder to hear Very spacious rooms, The beds were comfortable, the carpets were clean, and the quality of the hotel is better than the other two I had seen and stayed at in town

Will only stay here for my vacations

Nik

The Ocean View inn was great We went in without a reservation and we’re offered an ocean view room that was a double occupancy room, and it was charged at the single king price We were even offered a military discount

They are very friendly, clean, spacious The beds were very comfortable We have been on the road for several days now and a great place to sleep for the night was priceless Remember to always be happy, mindful, and the best you

Stayed for 2 nights I gave 2 stars because all of the employees were extremely nice and very helpful But that’s about all the positive things I can say

The beds were very uncomfortable The room smelled weird The walls were SUPER thin – we could hear literal conversations from the next room The building is really old, and it shows its age everywhere The furniture and appliances were all very outdated They were also not serving a continental breakfast because of COVID which I think is not a great excuse anymore since all mandates have been lifted I really don’t mind staying in older hotels, but they should not charge as much as they do for the quality you get

Cozy little place with an extraordinary view The rooms were spectacularly clean and spacious The bed was very comfortable, the linens were plush, and towels were new and fluffy

The bathroom was sparkling clean with bright lighting The deck had chairs to enjoy breathtaking views of sunrise with coffee (Keurig in room!) and sunsets Loved the natural white sound of the ocean waves at night I asked for an EXTRA blanket since my stay was during the cooler weather and it made all the difference in making my stay homey The staff was very kind and polite, went over and beyond to make my stay comfortableI wish I could live here I definitely will be coming back here Highly, highly recommend it!!Oh and did I mention it’s a great place to stay for hikes as it’s 5 minutes from the hiking hotspot, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park!

If there were 10 stars this place would be a 10+! I wanted peace and quiet and access to the beach I found all that and then some! Stayed a week, if work wasn’t calling I’d stay longer! Beach access is right outside your door! There’s nobody on the beach! So many treasures I have found, it’s like Heaven on earth! The desk people are crazy nice and the housekeeping staff go above and beyond Towels are very nice and thick

No pets allowed No fridge or microwave in rooms, but there is a microwave, decent size, that has 24 hour access There is an ice machine too Free breakfast of oatmeal and fruit, perfect for a long, long walk on the beach! You can collect the driftwood and have fires on the beach south of hotel! No garbage on the beach at all Town is 15 miles to the north and has everything you could want There is a Chevron on the south end of town that has its own kitchen and has incredible food Food? Clam chowder is incredible anywhere you go! What a wonderful experience! I’m already booked for next year, twice as long!

On the coast and away from downtown, the Scopa was a wonderful stop in our week’s long trip across and up California Very clean, peaceful, and comfortable accommodations And then there are the Innkeepers Irene and Jose

They made the entire stay all the better with their hospitality They welcomed and treated us like family We’re looking forward to our next visit

Nancy L

Beautiful B&B along the coast We stayed in the Whale Horizon Spa Suite on the 2nd flr that has a wonderful view of the coast Enjoyed relaxing in the window seat while watching the sunsets

Irene spoiled us with delicious breakfasts each morning! We really enjoyed our time at Scopa and appreciated all Irene did to make our time special

We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations at Anchor Beach Inn We stayed in a corner room with three queen size beds as we had a party of two adults and two teenagers The room offered a good amount of space

It was clean, had a refrigerator as well as a relatively large flat screen TV The beds were nice but were a little firm for my liking The staff on site were friendly including the housekeeper’s The hotel is literally right across the street to a nice beach I believe it is Crescent beach Additionally, there is a nice restaurant that offers some delicious sushi behind the Inn For the value and proximity to the beach and quiet location we would definitely stay at Anchor Beach Inn again Note: if you’ve got the windows open you will hear the sea lions barking!

Tommy “Tommy”

The view was beautiful and the room at first glance was cute, But the bed sheets had some stains on them There was also minimal amenities/toiletries There was no room services during our 4 day , 3 night stay

If we needed any extra towels, shampoo, toilet paper, garbage bags, coffee or any amenities we needed to walk down and ask for them at the lobby There was also no complimentary breakfast provided The view from the room was gorgeous but for the price we paid it was not worth it We expected some better service for the price For a one day stay this is fine, but for multiple days it was a bit pricey for what you get

Sergio Carrillo

The Location of the Hotel was perfect Great access to the beach and close to plenty of restaurants The room was very spacious and I would have to say that our only complaint/issue with the room(and the reason for only 4 stars and not 5) was that the floor was a wee bit dirty couldn’t walk in socks had to keep our shoes on when in the room but other than that we enjoyed our stay! The check-in and check-out was simple and the staff was very friendly!

DO NOT STAY HERE! I made my reservation through Priceline and then received an email that said I had to be checked in by 8:30 PM I made my reservation about an hour before that time and would not have been able to make it by 8:30 I contacted the property owner and tried to inform him of my situation he told me that he would be understanding and issue a refund for the confusion The property owner later changed his story and has declined my refund for the stay despite me immediately calling after making the reservation and never using the room

My advice would be to spend the extra $10-$20 it would cost to get an actual hotel room and avoid these incredibly dishonest people I am not sure why this house is even listed on apps meant for hotels

ben lewis

Place is nice but is in an old house I booked and showed up late and the owner was nice and accommodating about it Be warned that the hostel is a house turned hostel and the guy who runs it is very aware that its not the most ideal set up

Still pretty much free breakfest and coffee is offered The owner also loves to talk which is great because he told me tons of useful info about the area Just be weary that the house isnt on a main street and that you need to try to be quiet while using the bathroom at night otherwise you will wake the other guests Ps book though the website to save money

Toben Lindell

Generally confused by this place It’s organized and clean But then there’s odd aspects

Clean bed but the pillow was very flat The walls are thin, I snore, and felt like I was going to disturb others It felt like it needed something but honestly, Crescent City isn’t a “quaint” town from my impression I’m sure this is a nice stay for alot of folks Was confusing for me

Last year I ate at a seafood place across he street from this hotel and that it was an interesting place so this year we chose to stay here on our annual 420 West Coast Tour (Yes, we call it that in the family calendar) It is a very reasonably priced hotel but it is old and has had a limited amount of upgrades The hotel was built in 1957 and the redwood you see everywhere inside and out is from a single redwood tree

The unique aspect of the hotel in the 65-year-old wood and to keep this wood it seems some concessions have been made in upgrades The room we stayed in smelled of mildew and the furniture looked like it was from the 60s or 70s The windows had all been recently replaced and they looked and worked great I doubt the bathroom was original but it was very old and a little prison like Water was hot and we took long showers The room we stayed in had a Jack and Jill bathroom and for those of you who do not know what that is, it is a bathroom with two doors Personally I feel Jack and Jill bathrooms were made by the devil but I suspect that only my large two bedroom three bed room had that bathroom layout at the hotel Our room was at the end of the hotel near the highway so trucks could be heard but it wasn’t ridiculousThe wood is truly amazing and with a few upgrades this place would be a really fun place the stay I imagine they are trying to keep that kitsch value of the curly maple wood and that prevents them from doing a tremendous amount to improve the property without spending more than it would be worth The proprietors appears to live in the hotel

This place may not be for everyone but my husband and I liked the retro vibe of this place It had brand new carpet so did not have the “mildew” smell that a lot of coastal motels have It was well kept and maintained

You could tell the owner takes great pride in having it at its best We also liked the story behind the build The only downside was the floor in the bathroom was not the cleanest, as it has some hair left behind but overall great quiet place!

Abhiram Ravi

The biggest factor in rating this 3 and not 2 is how warm the owners of the place were They’re a family who live onsite and were welcomingCurly Redwood Lodge is really close to a lot of places within Crescent City

The city itself is quite small so nothing really is too far awayThe lodge itself needs a lot of work done The locks at the door didn’t give us a lot of confidence It seemed dinghy and easy to unscrew The owners living on premises made us a little more comfortable The bathroom doesn’t have some basic things like a place to keep your shampoo and conditioner There’s a small shelf but that can only fit a soap bar (not even a body wash bottle) I also noticed some dirt inside the bathroom itself It looked like it wasn’t cleaned up after some carpentry work It was also hard to get hot water at night to have a shower I let the tap running almost 15 minutes after which I got room temperature waterThere is no amenity to fill up water bottles There is a vending machine or you would have to fill up wherever in the city you choose to dine atThe worst of all was the bed It was squeaky and bounced a lot If one person on the bed moved, it felt like an earthquake to the other Neither of us felt like we had a good night’s restOverall, the offering didn’t match up to the price

The rooms are fantastic–clean, comfortable, spacious The staff is awesome Everyone is extremely kind and gracious and helpful

Ricardo especially went out if his way to be welcoming and kind at check in, it was such a pleasant situation after a harrowing dark and rainy drive The breakfast is great and the dining room is beautiful Pool is excellent Honestly, this is one of the overall nicest places I’ve ever stayed

Stearns James

Location was nice and convenientThe room was fine and bed was comfortableOnly downside was older bathroom wasn’t as clean as I would have liked The room flooring was wood, no carpet which I liked, but needed to be wet mopped to get up stains

The breakfast service was nice with many optionsThe value for the price we paid was the reason for the 3 star rating

I am not one to complain but I feel as though we had too many complications for only staying one night and hardly got any sort of apology from the staffMy fiance and I decided to take our 10 month old to the coast and I made a reservation to stay here as well as calling twice to assure our stay We drove 2

5 hours and upon arrival we were given a room that was completely thrashed and had leftover takeout from the previous tenants We went back to the office to get a different room and all we were told was “they would make note of that” We got upstairs and it seemed to be alright so we went to dinner and checked in up front on our way back about pool hours We were told the pool was stocked with towels and didn’t need to bring our own so we got changed and went down When trying to leave there were absolutely no towels anywhere around but nobody had left the pool either so it wasn’t actually stocked and we had to walk our daughter back to the room in the cold Later that night we tried to put things in the fridge only to find there was food left in there too! I went down first thing in the morning to let that know all the issues we had and was told “they would make note of that” and we were on our way Not a good experience at all and quite inconvenient Wish we stayed somewhere else I have never had previous problems as a single best Western before This was frustrating to say the least

This is a very charming, clean, and comfortable place to stay There is no breakfast yet due to covid but when they start again I bet it is good My family was excited to stay here

I am picky when it comes to hotel bathrooms and our bathroom looked brand new! No cracked sealer around the bathtub or floor Faucets are not corroded Very impressed The staff was very kind when we checked in We would stay here again anytime we are in the area

On my scale, this place earned an 8/10Safety/Security: 8/10Cleanliness: 9/10Air Conditioning: 8/10Electrical outlets: 7/10Shower: 8/10Bed comfort: 6/10Staff: 10/10The only dings on security was a couple of cars in the parking lot with flat tires and tags that had expired many years ago It also appeared someone was living in the woods right behind the place

The place was super charming and very clean, overallThe Air Conditioner was broken when we checked in and for our first 2 of 4 nights, but they refunded us part of our room cost back and replaced the A/C with a brand new unit and it worked great after that The air coming off the ocean was really chilly but unfortunately we were on the back side of the hotel and didn’t get any of that breeze if we opened the windows, so the A/C was neededThe electrical outlets were fineThe shower could have used more pressure but it was really comfortableThe bed was not overly comfortable but wasn’t uncomfortable either and we slept okThe staff was super friendly and helpfulThe Ocean was right across the street from usOverall I would definitely stay here again if I am ever out in Crescent City again

Love this camp ground

could use an update on bathrooms and possibly put showers in It is county owned so showers with a coin deposit per shower would still benefit the county and help the campers out that stay for a longer visit Also maybe a little snack bar Even if it’s only open a couple hours a day, again it would benefit the county financially!

Great night stop! (Mid summer 2021)We drove into this site around 6pm on a Sunday and easily found a spot (with still 2-3 sites open) The best spots are along the river! Each site cost $20The campsites are relatively close to each other

Some more than othersRestrooms were decently clean!Bring your own fire woodThe water was so clean, fresh, and warm! We went for a sunset swim ❤️Camp is very close to the highway You can hear trucks and cars passingIt got pretty chilly at night time, I wish I had an extra jacket and blanket It got fairly misty over night and early morningI really did enjoy this place!

M C

A truly wonderful little campground Nice amenities, extremely close to the river, and wonderful old redwoods surrounding each site Water hook ups for RVs, spots on the beach for tent camping, and animal & kid friendly

Extremely close to the Jedediah State Forest if there aren’t any camping sites available there I can’t recommend this spot enough
