I really enjoyed the hospitality and great customer service from Gabby and Ovy They both were really friendly, provided quick, and efficient service The hotel was located right next to the beach walking distance

The hotel provides beach towels, umbrellas, and chairs There are restaurants in walking distance of the hotel that were great The room was clean and up to par The bed and pillows were comfortable The cleaning service woman was very helpful in changing sheets due to a personal accident There were very accommodating and answered questions in a professional manner I was able to check in earlier than expected and leave my luggage with them safely until I return upon check out I truly consider someone to stay at this hotel if you were looking for a private quiet and pleasant stay in North Beach Miami

Cute hotel, in a good location; walkable to most “incidentals” (supermarket, bus stops, coffee shops) Also, a short walk to the beach If you’re big on opulence, this probably isn’t the place for you, as it is more functional than it is “pretty”

It is as if someone fixed up their spare bedroom real nice for you – but that’s part of the charm The only minor annoyance: (1) wish there were mini blinds at the rooms’ window, instead of a pull-down shade, as this would let more natural light in while maintaining privacy; (2) not having a shower caddy or someplace to rest your items while in the bath Overall, I had a good stay, and would recommend

Cleveland Street Preachers

THESE EVIL PEOPLE AT THIS HOTEL TOOK MY MONEY! I travel a lot and this was a terrible experience I’m usually not that picky with hotels, but this place was full of evil people that work there When I went there, there were tiny bugs everywhere

They had a man come and “spray” the bugs, and he put maybe a couple squirts on some baseboards That’s it They offered a different room and when they did the room smelled like smoke, so I asked for another room They didn’t have any, so I wanted a refund for the remaining nights I couldn’t use and they refused to refund me! Called hotelscom and they spoke to the owner and he didn’t care! They essentially robbed me! I left and found another hotel because I wasn’t going to sleep in a room with bugs and deal with shady people that only cared about liability These people here are very evil! Don’t do business with these wicked people

Nice place to stay Calm neighborhood in general But the wall are thin like paper and unfortunately, my daughter and I has to deal with an arguing couple noises all night long

We felt like we were in the same house😔 The kitchen is full option, the place was very clean and comfy Didn’t like the bed but it’s just a question of taste There are buses stops around, some food markets 8 min away at feet

Isis

From start to finish, staying here was seamless! We got the code for the lock box well before check in time and we were able to check in and out with no interaction with others Towels, shampoo, and body wash are provided and the room has many provided amenities Our only complaint was that the walls were extremely thin and we could hear every word our neighbor was saying as well as when they were using their television

Just take that into consideration as it resulted in lost sleep for us

Turney Maurer

I stayed at Cottages El Portal while I had to host several presentations throughout Miami/Naples/Boca Raton for the week It was the perfect location to get anywhere, and the neighborhood was very quiet Made sleeping at night easy especially with the AC unit by the window next to the bed

My room had a full kitchen so I was able to go get groceries down the street, like a 5 minute drive away I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a lowkey stay in a cool, authentic Miami neighborhood with gyms, great restaurants, and everything else you need nearby

Property manager is very knit-picky on everything Can’t smoke on the property, expects the room to be completely clean at checkout (even though it’s a motel), definitely overpriced, & just have to be quiet in general Only 1 house cleaner as well, you will have to call property management to even get the house cleaner to assist with necessities for the room

Okay place but too much restrictions on the place you pay Also barely parking at night

Delisa Francisco

The white hair lady in the front is probably the most rude person you would ever meet Got there at 3 am (I had a reservation) and when she opened the door looked at me like I’m asking her for a favor “unbelievable” with a very mad face; she goes I ask if there’s something wrong

She goes “everyone getting here at 3, 4 am” mind you this is a MOTEL The reservation was under my friend and she said I needed to send her a picture of her ID when my friend woke up In the morning I went out to get a coffee at 9am 10mins after I find my door locked No call, no text, no warning When I go to the office this lady is in a worst attitude than last night When I said why didn’t you contact me first before going in the room with my stuff inside and lock it She said “we spoke last night” Don’t ever stay here, there’s better choices around for the same price

Sadly this hotel did not meet expectations Upon arrival my family and I became aware that we were next to a strip club The lobby was highly scented, which I liked but people with sensitivities surely would not

We came to understand why there was cologne everywhere when we got to the room The first room we were offered had a horrible wet musty smell I refused to stay in there The front desk staff was very nice, helpful and understanding offering us another room That room had a portable dehumidifier in it Clearly this hotel has water damage that is not being fixed I booked through a 3rd party and notified them and the front desk I would not be staying here and was informed by both the third party and the front desk that a refund would be issued when the manager, Juan, was back on property on Monday Juan gave the 3rd party the run around and made it very difficult to connect with him I then called personally No response Finally after much persistence on my end, that I just wanted a refund due to the fact we did not actually stay on the premises, it was resolved But NOT in a professional, timely manner Very disappointed

Jerry McCormack

I wish I could give this zero stars for the property itself and the manager Juan The staff is incredibly friendly so I feel bad for them but this hotel suffers from a moisture issue which is causing mold and mildew, and an unpleasant smell in the lobby and rooms To combat this, management is pumping in large amounts of perfume to mask the odor which initially is quite pleasant but becomes overpowering in a few minutes and caused us headaches

Rooms were full of mold in any crevace areas and had portable dehumidifers which was alarming to say the least Just don’t stay here, it’s in a terrible part of town anyway

mark malanowski

Stayed overnight with my loved one The room was clean but the lights flickered all night The ac was not working well and left the room completely damp feeling

The shower had no inside curtain The elevator felt like it would give out everytime someone came in The sound of it was really bad and loud Woke up to a homicide next door gun shots being heard at 5:30am definitely will not be back

We had a very pleasant 4 day stay The room was clean and the bed very comfortable The staff were very helpful and cleaned daily

Helen in reception went out of her way to assist us It was quiet and restful The beach is very close by and to top it all the weather was perfect! Would certainly recommend Very good value for the price

Jocelyne Clémençon

We booked via Bookingcom because it was a reasonable price but still enough (approx 200$/night) and we stayed for six days

We got an upgrade for a room with a kitchenette The kitchen had a table with two chairsThe bed was a king size and I wished there was one more cushion per personThe bathroom was okay, but everything is a bit rusty or outdatedWe got fresh towels each day The floor wasn’t cleaned each day, however I am not sure if it is something day do each dayThe hotel is located right next to the main street and the windows are old So you can hear everythingThere are curtains but light will come through all nightThere wouls have been options to get beach chairs and towels We didn’t need itThe place is okay, but you need a car to reach restaurants or shops

Jon Chang

Hair everywhere every day Hair on the floor the first day, different hair on the walls and towels the second day, and even different hair on the towels and floor the third day Definitely don’t clean the floors or vacuum the carpets

Toilets, shower, sink, and bed linens were clean every day Front desk staff was really friendly Location to the beach is great, but proximity to food and bars is inconvenient Even for such a low cost, it’s not worth it

We traveled to Miami are for a wedding, I booked at The Stadium When we first pulled up I was a little worried As we usually stay at Marriott when we travel

This hotel is well kept, a little aged but has had many updates The staff was amazing and you can tell they take pride in their work Our room was clean and there are staff constantly cleaning wiping things down in common areas Continental breakfast was nice and fresh, Everything tasted really good They have staff continually monitoring the hotel and outside area which made me feel even more safe and comfortable for a first time trip to Miami Pool was nice and they have mini golf as well Would highly recommend for a stay and would definitely return for a stay

R

Perfect stay during the F1 weekend! Staff was next level and went above and beyond for race fans Race decor was over the top in the best way possible and made the experience so much more fun and enjoyable Walking distance to the stadium, the best provided breakfasts fuel long days, and a place to comfortably sleep despite thin walls

Everyone working from reception, housekeeping, security, grounds, and even staff helping serve breakfast actually looked and were approachable in the sense that they were having a good time and were happy to be there or at least did a great job appearing to be! Everyone came off genuine and so nice! Absolutely loved all the posters/flags and decor from the columns outside, the hanging driver cards from the ceilings to the decorated breakfast 9th floor decked out Overheard presumably managers speaking to staff on what channels to have the TVs on and making sure things were stocked and clean for fans The small details and attention for the guests/fans So much so fans were given a complimentary clear bag permitted in the stadium with sealed waters and other goodies Completely unwarranted and sweet! The Miami GP was okay, but this place made the stay and overall experience much better Almost didn’t want to leave the review afraid that this place will skyrocket for the next GP, but all their effort over the weekend deserves the recognition – I can’t say enough This place knocked it out of the park on the FIRST F1 event held here Do note that walking distance may not be for everyone especially in the heat There were shuttles available that didn’t come across worth needing

Jean Begin

Very clean hotel The room were dating with some signs of aging but overall great We had a corner balcony and it delivered on the view

The resort kind of reminded me of a Disney All-Star minus the Mickey’s This one would be All-Star NFL has it is themed after the stadium located right in front Check in and check out were smooth Employees took care of our every requests Room service was not very efficient as we had to get our food order from the lobby but beside that hiccup, its a nice propertyThe breakfast is offered on the top floor with an amazing view It also offer an outside deck to have breakfast in the sunMy only downside and it is not one the hotel can fix, are the vehicles noise, it is very close to the highway and therefore you get the noise The streets around are also very busy which really doesn’t help The pool and mini-golf level are shielded from the noise and can be a tad more relaxing but on the balcony it was very loud at timesWe will be back as it is a great property I can’t imagine on game weekends, it must be crazy!

I have now stayed here twice, 3 nights each time The first time the front desk women was lovely, the second time a guy checked me in and wasn’t pleasant at all The rooms are decent especially considering cost

Comfy bed good pillows, good ac, good blankets Showers pressure is decent could be better but could be way worse Overall cleanliness was great for me The noise from the street is pretty loud but I haven’t had problems sleeping through it I haven’t heard anyone I’m other rooms Parking is great and the area is overflowing with places to eat and shop If you don’t need to be right on the beach it works

Kriston Cartwright

I thought the sheets were a little thin when the a/c was at its coldest settings, but overall a great stay The front desk staff and housekeeping were always friendly and even through guest spoke My mom left 4 important electronic devices in our household at the hotel and the staff retrieved it and was very helpful in allowing us time to get to them

I would recommend anyone to stay here as its central to a lot if things in this part of Miami

Quiet hotelBad:Not too many bad things, so I’ll say needs improvementBreakfast was kinda limited as far as continental breakfast goesOnly dark roast coffee?!? YuckNo hot chocolate Not even the single packetsDefinitely a work location (not near any attractions)Its lakeside, nice looking outsideDid not visit weight room or pool but they have both

Happy Girl

The room looked nice However, there were dozens of small black bugs by the sink and coffee machine We asked to move to another room

The second room on another floor had the same issue The third room we got moved to still had the bugs but less of them They were also at the front desk I’m dissatisfied with this location due to the bugs and now I don’t feel comfortable eating the breakfast there since there are bugs on that floor too Not a good experience

Jennifer AMADOR

The hotel is a very nice place, the rooms are huge This is a pet friendly hotel they need to tell guests they are staying in a pet friendly floor or room

I had to ask if there were animals in the room as I am allergic to pet hair and dander I was wheezing and coughing the whole visit, I literally went through a whole inhaler I just feel they should notify guests or ask if they are ok staying in a room that has had animals stay

This hotel is the worst We stayed here for a few weeks due to our house not being ready to move in No safe in the room

We never allowed any one in just the cleaning crew a couple of times to change bed sheets and clean up Someone stole my husbands chain We alerted the staff and asked to have corporate call us We have yet to have anyone call We filed a police report but of course they don’t care because as to them it’s nothing We paid thousands of dollars and also paid this hotel a lot of money to stay there and make sure our belongings were safe Multiple times we had to go to the front desk because our keys weren’t working and now it makes us think if this was on purpose to get into our room My husband has had this chain for years and never lost it Also a coincidence that we went out on a Friday and that weekend and before we checked out the chain was gone! We have contacted an attorney and hopefully this is resolved ASAP!

1st off They saved us from having a horrible trip We decided to book at seaside apartment right there on Collins

Worst choice ever They had a horrible smell, they double booked rooms sowe went from a double bed to 1 bed So we called sonesta and they got us in that same morning Not only were they accommodating, they were so nice and let us check in early at 11 am We hadn’t slept at the other hotel (seaside) because of how horrible the mold smell was Sonesta smelled so fresh and so clean What a huge difference I’m so thankful and will try to use them on other trips in the future Went from a really bad hotel experience (seaside apartment hotel) to a great and everlasting experience (sonesta)

The guy at the front counter very nice, however according to him he was the only on duty that night Our room AC was set on fan and I could not adjust/change the settings (room never got cold), the TV would NOT come on at all, we unplugged it and try a different outlet and it never came on, they did NOT have toiletries as they were completely out (front desk guy stated) and we was never offered to change rooms Will definitely NOT be staying there again

Charissa

No hot water in shower or sink, called front desk twice- no answer- went down to front desk no customers around Front desk lady was unhelpful, unfriendly and acknowledged they knew that there are numerous rooms that the hot water doesn’t work Refused to offer us any compensation for our troubles, wouldn’t switch rooms when I requested it, stating, “ I don’t know what other rooms don’t have hot water…” she stated that other customers are having hot water issues as well

So they are aware, yet, not offering compensation for their problems Hotel old and dated, photos look better than in person, very loud room…next to freeway and loud elevator, mold in shower on ceiling and walls Dark, poorly lit hallways and rooms need attention and updating Outdoor pool is freezing cold Workout room is lacking, only one machine functioned (when I tried all four)Front Staff unwelcoming and unfriendly Didn’t welcome me or acknowledge me as a reward points member- I had to ask at check out if I was given my points Not the greatest area, very far away from the airport & no hotel shuttle as advertised on their website For the price we paid, very poor value Would NOT recommend staying here Worst Holiday Inn property we’ve ever stayed at, we are frequent travelers I choose Holiday Inn properties for their reputation, this hotel doesn’t fit the Holiday Inn standards Find someplace else

Then tell them oh sorry it’s something we can note, but there is nothing we can do Then when you ask for a hair dryer 3 times and you say ok no problem and it never comes I don’t usually post bad reviews but I do expect a hotel to make traveling for work suck less, not more I don’t think that’s asking too much

Absolutely loved this hotel! We were only in Miami for one night and I wish we were there longer because I loved this hotel so much It has an awesome outside area with a pool and seating area with great vibes The rooms are huge and clean

Beds are so comfortable Joyce is so sweet Easy walk to a beautiful beach and great restaurants in the area Would give more than 5 stars if I could

This place was perfect for our 5 year anniversary weekend We came to see a concert and wanted to stay somewhere by the beach To start, Joyce was so very awesome in her communications

When we arrived, her hospitality and service were so welcoming She showed us our room and paid for our parking which is a public parking lot the block over Don’t let some of these reviews fool you There is NO homeless shelter to be seen, and the parking lot IS lit up at night Joyce’s establishment is a quiet, quiant, cute little boutique hotel with only a couple units (maybe 7-10 units?) The basic studio was furnished comfortably with our basic needs, fridge, microwave, TV, comfy bedding and towels (even towels to use at the beach or pool) This place was perfect and maintained (and also CLEAN) About a block over, there are some shops, restaurants, and the beach, as well as both Walgreens and CVS For the price per night, this hotel is TOTALLY worth every penny This will be our go to accommodation for any future trips to the area Thank you again Joyce for having us! You are wonderful!

The good: this place was simple, and it had what we needed A fridge, a microwave, a very comfty bed, a TV with some channels, our own bathroom It’s in a good location in the way that it’s minutes to the beach

And it’s close to restaurants It’s a walk away from some good Cuban cuisine This hotel is good for those who do well with the basics The owner appears very nice and very helpful and availableThe meh: the hotel was somewhat difficult to find You do have to park in a parking lot about a block away (the owner does pay for it though- which is a plus) The hotel is hidden and is in some way a good thing as there can be some shady characters at night It’s not hidden on the street but more like the entrance is The location is busy, with many locals and tourists so you do get a mix I did have some trouble with the hot water at first I let it run for about 5 minutes until the hot water came out, and it did The wifi wasn’t very good The signal was weakWith that being said, this place was nice for people who are looking for just a place to rest or lay their head at night after a day of exploring Their bar was closed down but is supposed to open in June I’m sure when it does, this place will be more lively at night and convenient for guests We were comfortable for the most part and having the beach close by and restaurants close by was very convenient

Positives: This place is absolutely beautiful Clean Housekeeping and front desk were super nice

Pending the laundry issue, I would definitely stay here againNegatives: no microwave in the room and the laundry for guests is broken We were staying as a family of 4 for a week So this absolutely disrupted our stay I had to lug loads of dirty laundry to a friend’s house one day Between kids, beaches and the heat, accessing laundry was an absolute must Had I known this before booking I would have honestly stayed somewhere else The restaurant was INSANELY expensive We caught a red eye and checked in off our flight (not early, we paid for the room the day before), I purchased on side of pancakes and one bagel it ran me $30!!!! First and last experience at this restaurant I was so tired I honestly didn’t feel like questioning why it cost so much more than the menu stated, I just needed some sleep

Firstly let me say the hotel is BEAUTIFUL! I was met with a dilemma, and it was quickly resolved! Major kudos to the front desk staff Tina and Julian, as well as housekeeping staff whose names were Barbara and Eddie I love the hotel and the atmosphere in there is so calming Phenomenal job through my entire weekend there! I did not want to leave

They made it so easy to check in and check out

This hotel is located in a sketchy area There is loud construction across the street and in the neighborhood Do not stay on a higher level as the night club noise will keep you up all night

My room smelled like mildew My room service was cold and soggy tacos that fell apart The guacamole looked pre-made There was a used, dirty mask behind the night table This place is WAY over priced I had to ask for a glass of sparkling wine that they are supposed to offer me They did not acknowledge my status as a Hilton member

I really liked the hotel once we actually got our room Very nice scenery around hotel but the weather was bad and we didn’t get any pictures The cleaning staff took to long to clean the rooms so even at 3, they still weren’t clean, waited till 4 for actual check in and it still wasn’t ready

We got checked in around 420, I just think the cleaning staff needs to be more attentive and finished cleaning at a certain time but definitely worth my stay I will return

We liked this hotel BUT1 Reserved a room with a balcony Arrived to find that we were not given a balcony, instead we were given a “patio”

Not the same Our request to be moved to a balcony was denied2 Woken at 6:30 am by staff in the hallway making an absolute racket for 30 minutes3 There has been someone power washing the pool area since 8:45 Extremely loud Not exactly relaxing

I remember when this was the Don Shula hotel I grew up just a few blocks from here and it was so cool to stay here It still is, this was a wonderful experience

The housekeeping was great, the room was comfortable, and that bed was the best sleep I’ve had on this trip The front desk was perfect Raphael was kind, courteous, and charming From the point where I checked in all the way to my check out The Miami lakes hotel was trying to make my trip that much better Next time I come to south Florida I’ll be coming here again
