We were blown away on how massive this place was! My kids had a lot of fun The wave pool was one of the favorites! We were lucky enough to rent a cabana for one of our days and it was really worth it We spent most of our day at the pool and it was nice to have a place to rest and take a break in a semi-private area

The restaurants were great as well! The Zoo was adorable! My kids LOVED feeding the animals We bought the family sized bucket and it was really worth the money We had more than enough for the 4 of us to use

dxrkcutz

Ive gone many times and the only thing i dont like is the fact that all the likes are 100 miles long But i can’t blame them The rides are so fun and there is a great selection of kid friendly rides

And the lifeguards are very nice And the suits are so huge My mom took 10 girls and 2 adults on a trip for my sisters birthday and we were able to fit in the suit very comfortably Overall a wonderful vacation spot

Our bathroom light took forever to come on, our tv didn’t work, our shower had no pressure and the cap was off of it at the wall, and our window leaked We also had to ask for blankets Our second night out of 4 we had people in our hallway at 2:30 am yelling waking everyone up

We called and asked them to come take care of it We ended up having to call a second time and they finally came and removed several people who were not staying there Then came directly to our door and accused us of telling the desk we would take care of it ourselves( literally would have been 5 of us against like 30 people) The whole point in calling was to let them take care of it But I guess when you try and be a good person they frown upon that Water park was nice! Staff for most part were very nice Wouldn’t recommend staying maybe just visiting the water park I won’t ever go back I’ll spend my money elsewhere

We were in the area for a volleyball tournament and this was the hotel the team stayed in Our room was a nice size and was clean The only issue we had was that there was a stale smoke smell by the fridge

From what our daughter and her teammates said the pool was ok and wasn’t too small If she plays in this tournament next year we will be recommending this hotel as our place to stay

Travis Zuleger

Had a really unfortunate experience last night A very loud party of 5 was drinking on the back patio from 10:30 until 1:30 We called the front desk multiple times, walked down to the desk, and even directly asked the party to quiet down

Management asked them to quiet down when quiet hours kicked in at 11:00 but it wasn’t effective At 11:30 we were told that the cops were called after an aggressive confrontation at the front desk but we continued to hear the yelling and laughing until 1:30 I appreciate the attempt to help from the ladies at the front desk but this situation could have been handled so much better

Drew Price

Overall this place was exactly what I would expect from a Holiday Inn Express Staff was very kind Hotel was well kept up

There was at least a fitness center (wish it went higher than 50lbs)The only complaint I could think of is the elevator is super slow and in the room I stayed in it the bathroom door was open the mini fridge was blocked by the door That nitpicking though

We stayed this passed weekend Thursday- Sunday and the front desk staff were really friendly and helpful The hot breakfast was also really nice and it was nice that the pool was open so late as well This would have been a really nice stay and I would have given it a higher score but our last night at the hotel we went swimming and the pool damaged our swim suits

The night after we checked in we went swimming in the hotel pool and it was fine and our swim suits that we wore on the first night did not seem to be damaged, the second night that we went swimming we all wore different swim suits that were very good quality and in great condition for about an hour and a half and all 4 of us now have swim suits that we can no longer wear because the colors bleached so bad and they are now drastically different from how they looked before we went swimming just from sitting in that pool for so long One of us has very sensitive skin and within 30 minutes of being in the water, her skin started to irritate and her eyes started to burn Even after excessively washing her skin, her skin was still sticky to the touch This has never happened to us before when staying at any other hotel so I was unsure of what to do If you plan on staying here make sure that you wear swim suits that you don’t mind having to toss after The chlorine is way too strong, maybe just skip the pool altogether We do have the before and after picturesUpdate: I’m not always the most vocal when it comes to complaining but after considering the situation more I decided to call the hotel and let them know what had happened The manager was very helpful

Robert Cross

I just completed a quick stay and found the facility top notch The staff was extremly friendly and helpful as we checked into our rooms The hotel is very clean and in good order

The breakfast area was organized and the food was tasty The tables are kept clean Plenty of coffee was always available The rooms are clean with plenty of hot water Highly recommended

Amelia K

We were in town for a dance competition with a bunch of kids and had a wonderful experience LeeAnn, at the front desk, was just fantastic She was accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we were happy

Breakfast was delicious and had lots of options, even for picky eaters The pool was fun and the hot tub was a nice addition There’s even a little fire pit area out back We didn’t get to use it because we were there in the cold, but it seems like it would be nice! All in all, we will definitely choose this location again

Location is great, right by so many things The service was AMAZING My teen gets bouts of anxiety inspired insomnia and couldn’t stay in the room over night

The staff were so accommodating to him and his needs Kept an extra eye on him and made him feel comfortable The pool/work out room leave a little to be desired but my kids liked it Breakfast was only okay but honestly it was food and it was hot Everything was very clean As someone who used to be a house keeper in a hotel I know the things I’m looking to be clean and it was great Only things I really have to “complain” about isn’t really a them thing but a ME thing The beds were a bit small for me I’m used to a bigger bed but that by no means is there fault Over all when we return to the area we will most likely be staying again Thank you

Patricia Gulzar

When we walked in room 309, we were concerned that the beds would be uncomfortable because they were both sloped downward toward the headboard Fortunately, the beds didn’t cause an issue too much Our room wasn’t clean

This included the toilet, floor, and bed Because the hotel was full, we couldn’t switch rooms, which is understandable I did request for our room to be clean, but that never happened The lights in the bathroom kept cutting on and off I was happy to leave

Jeffrey Dean

I always have the best stays at Best Western hotels, and this didn’t disappoint Off season rates were excellent Yeah, it’s still a little pricey if you’re just looking for shelter

But so clean and comfortable, with an enormous comfortable bed, super clean bathroom with amenities such as a safe, coffee maker, fridge and breakfast I dinged it for the tiny pillows and scratchy towels, which seemed more in place at a Travelodge, but otherwise, it really was a 5 star stay

A Holiday Inn Express that meant my expectations for a clean comfortable place to stay without a whole lot of frills There is a small indoor pool, no real outside lounge area aside from a very small concrete patio outside one door of the pool The staff was friendly

Complimentary breakfast was typical of what you can expect at a Holiday Inn express Nothing to write home about but plenty of small snacks and things to grab to satisfy you at the beginning of the day Coffee was fresh and hotThere is good access off of both US 2 and Interstate 80 My only negative is that there is nothing immediately around this particular location in terms of gas, conveniences, or food There is nothing within walking except for a dental office and a very large Chevy dealer Supplies are not too far away, but it is a short car ride into Vermilion or back to the Interstate if you want anythingOne of the reasons we chose this location was good highway access and it’s reasonably close to Cedar Point Amusement Park, but it is far enough away from the park that the room rates are much lower than comparable hotels within 5 miles to 10 miles of the park itselfI would certainly consider staying here again

Well this will be lengthy……SorryChecked in with a third party reservation We paid with my wife’s MC

The CS rep when checking into the hotel asked for a card for incidentals which is typical So I used my VISA for the auth of 15000 While addressing this the next AM with Donna stated that there should only have been a 10% auth not a 15000 I said there was an auth of 39848 She didn’t believe me & stated they will have the GM look at it By the way never did Donna said check with the 3rd party It’s their problem not ours Went about our stay not very happily but I figured it’s just an auth & it should fall off in less than a week……I was shocked that a Holiday Inn Express was like this All the ones that I have stayed at address the situation or got me answers the next AM Here’s my list of disappointments………1……Room key the whole stay deactivated even though we left it in our cup holder of our car We know enough not to keep it close to any cell phone or other cc’s2…The pool area door was unlocked & anyone could have walked in so the security after hours was terrible Donna also didn’t believe me & stated she will have maintenance look at it3…The hall leading in from the side entrance smelled like pet urine All the hotels I have stayed with have smelled incredibly clean orrrr a nice fragrance4… Had continental breakfast available from 630-930 the next AM We showed up at 830 &&&&& the only trash area had 5 pizza boxes from the night before still stacked up while trash was overflowing Also had no food other than oatmeal, cereal, muffin Noooo hot food left &&& was not going to make any either5…Finally addressed situation with the charges because now it went from auth to current charges a week later Called the hotel & once again it’s Donna &&& she couldn’t help me so she once again said that she will have the GM call me tomorrow Also SW 3rd party &&& yes I was charged by them on my wife’s card & confirmed with my bank I was charged by Holiday Inn Express on my cc that was supposed to be for just an auth for incidentals Soooo double charged for my stay to once again wait without any helpLessons learned……NEVER EVER STAY AT A PRIVATELY OWNED HOTEL MAKE SURE ITS A CORPORATE OWNED LOCATIONSECONDLY……NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!!

The hotel is outdated but very clean The bed is comfortable and I got fresh linen every day The hotel was 4-10 minutes from all activities we did and plenty of food options in the area

Breakfast provided at the hotel is not great, very basic They give you pancakes, bread and fruit loops We didn’t bother eating there but if you’re hungry it’s decentI recommend staying here I had minimum contact with staff but the front desk employees were very nice and always offered water!

Me and my boyfriend stayed the night here after we spent all day at cedar point The owner is super friendly and accommodating and easy to talk to! The rooms are quaint and rustic and clean! I was thoroughly pleased with our stay here We didn’t get a chance to go in the pool but it looked very clean

In the morning we were offered coffee, donuts, fruit and granola bars If I could give Maples Motel 10 stars I would We will definitely be returning when we go back to cedar point for the weekend!

If your are looking for a retro slice of heaven, Here it is! We were greeted by the lovely owner, Steve and he shared some history of the place We shared in laughs and great conversation through out our stay Steve makes sure his guest feel right at home & surely we did! Not only does he go above and beyond making sure your room is to your liking, he also has fresh donuts, locally grown fruit and hot coffee every morning for his guest! After a 3 night stay it felt like we were leaving family as we said goodbye to Steve and his furry family ❤️ We will definitely be back!

Tee Cee

This property is amazing!Close to nature yet still convenient to town Steve is an amazingly kind personThe rooms are very clean and the motel area itself is welcoming

Definitely a gem!Don’t forget to ask about the back path A must do, especially around dusk I have never stayed at a place ( from coast to coast) with as much hospitality and charm as the Maples

We were excited to stay here after the renovations Rooms and lobby are very nice, but they just weren’t quite ready for guests which very much detracted from the stay Pros: beds and pillows were quite comfortable

All the staff we encountered were quite nice Drinks were cold and well made Cons: we were unable to get any lunch or dinner at the resort The Mulligan pub is opened, but the cooks called in while we were there Elevator in our building was down so I had to lug all our luggage up the stairs Ice machine also not yet operating Pools are nice, but we were kicked out after about 15 minutes because the pH was off and they had to adjustIn short, I’d likely give it a second chance but not this close to reopen Not worth the price without the amenities

Sandra Schrom

Resort is a nice change of pace from our normal Cedar Point hotel stays The location was great (far enough away from CP for relaxation, but yet close enough to still go) The resort was very nice with an upscale feel

Common areas were updated and very nice! Enjoyed the classy/laid back music played by the live band in the evening Also plenty to do outside with nature trail walks, beach, corn hole and other outdoor games as well Main negative was the outdoor pool was down for our entire stay In all, had a great stay and will definitely go back!

Anna Jolliff

My wife and I stayed here for three nights for our cedar point honeymoon We loved it They had everything we needed at check in for our cedar point visits (parking, early entry, etc)

Unlike what was mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel did not seem understaffed at all, and the pool was open (and great!) The fitness center has all the basics for a strength or cardio workout The breakfast buffet is impressive The one downside is that the rooms do not have coffee makers, but we saw this ahead of time in reviews so we brought our own coffee (Starbucks Via instant coffee packets Does not taste like instant coffee!) We are a gay couple and felt completely welcome here

Absolutely phenomenal service, from the gentleman at the front desk, the ladies that clean the rooms and the ladies that provided breakfast, all these wonderful people cared to make our experience the absolute best it could be The rooms were very clean, the food at breakfast was delicious I highly recommend and will definitely stay again without question

Meg Jo

The hotel is outdated There is a barely working elevator The complimentary breakfast was actually better than most! And the beds were comfortable

The lighting in the hotel was very dim and grim feeling though There is an indoor pool Just not worth the amount they charge a night with so many nice updated hotels charging the same all around

emily baron

Art, the property manager was extremely welcoming when we arrived We booked our room that morning after checking out of another hotel There weren’t any rooms available yet and he offered to text us when a room was ready

The housekeeping staff went above and beyond to help us during our stay and the mor ing breakfast crew was so pleasant and on top of their job, especially with all of the hungry baseball players We will now only stay at Hampton inn when we travel

Our stay was great – room was clean and staff was very pleasant and helpful Only downfall was that the hotel was completely full and parking was full The only spot was a handicap spot in the back of the building so we parked there at 10:30pm

At 3:30am we received a ticket for $25000 – we had no other parking option but here We let the front desk know what happened and they were very apologetic The manager called me the next day and was very helpful and completely made things right with us Amazing customer service! We will definitely stay here again – especially for the way the whole situation was handled Great job on the way you take care of your guests

Arrived here with my daughter for a weekend basketball tournament After a minor issue with our first room, the person at the front desk (unfortunately I didn’t get her name!) Switched our room with no issue! Ultra sleek, modern, funky hotel and the beds were so comfortable! We didn’t utilize the pool, but it was a nice pool area! Definitely will stay here again!

Neat and new hotel with a good access to Cedar Point at reasonable price!I stayed in a 2 queen-size bed room when I visited the Cedar Point Although the room was not that big, the room was clean and neat You can have a free breakfast between 6 to 10 am

You also have a free parking lot in front of the hotel Overall, I had great experience there

Hotel is dirty will not stay again Has potentialPros: Location, big rooms, friendly staff, free bowling, beds are comfortable, and complimentary alcohol

Cons: Rooms are filthy, cobwebs in corners and above the beds, floors sticky, bathroom is moldy, outside the room smells musty, ceiling/walls/ couch all have stains and marks Bathroom sink does not drain, nor does the tub/ no soap in any of the containers Air conditioner stayed warmOverall: Uncomfortable from my perspective, will never come back We are leaving 1 day earlier because of how uncomfortable we are

Michael Warnock

Not a terrible place if they took care of it better We stayed in room 101 and the room had several issues AC did not blow cold air making room hot and stuffy

Provided soap in shower nice touch except there wasnt any conditioner Sink in bathroom had very slow drain due to a clog I imagine Cobwebs above one of the beds around the lights Honestly I would expect better for 200 bucks a night Location is great as it was 5 min from cedar point Free bowling is nice but I would have rather had AC that worked They provided courtesy booze but I dont drink so that didnt work for me to offset problems with the room This place has a lot of potential but its not being managed very effectively I complained to a person at front desk where you check in at hostess stand of restaurant but I feel as though it fell on deaf ears

Josh

Great place to stay Beautiful place, bowling, restaurant, and drinks Free wine and beer in the room! The pool was closed

idk why The room was beautiful The craftsmanship of the room left some work to be expected tho the flooring didn’t match up to the room, and the bathroom ceiling was pushed upwards Other than that the place was great My family and I will be back

Reasonably priced rooms, super friendly and helpful staff (and I interacted with multiple people), and the cleanest room I’ve had since COVID started It’s weird how during a time when everything is supposed to be cleaned more, hotel rooms in general have been really hit and miss Not here! I was very comfortable for my overnight stay

Also, it’s brilliant to text someone as they are getting into their room to see if they need anything I didn’t need anything but I really appreciated that

So very friendly and helpfulOn our first night, there was a fire alarm that went off early in the morning I would like to say that this was extremely well handled Nobody wants to be woken up this way, but these things happen I was really impressed on how the night time lady took control and made sure everyone was safe Turns out this was not a false alarm, however thankfully there was no actual fire Thank you you for dealing with your guests safety in a very professional and organized manner!Breakfast was very good The eggs were hot and fresh And very tastyThe pool was large, warm and clean (outdoor)Overall a great stay Will definitely come back!

Bernie, Judy, and the Angel are the bee’s knees! We felt so pampered in their beautiful home with delicious breakfasts freshly made each morning Bernie went out of his way when we arrived after midnight to be let in, despite the time Judy had so many interesting stories (you too, Bernie!), and made us feel very relaxed

Our room was beautifully decorated, quaint, and beyond comfortable We appreciate them opening their doors to us and hope to be back soon!

We ended up at this hotel because we found bed bugs at our original hotel at 11pm and this was the only one with good reviews that still had rooms left Nathan at the front desk was wonderful He was very kind and empathetic, as well as energetic for it being after midnight

The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean Since it was so late we didn’t get to use most amenities like the pool so I can’t speak on that The breakfast was good, but very crowded Staff had trouble keeping up with refilling the stations due to so many people The price was high, but it was worth it to have a clean, comfortable place to stay with no bed bugs We would stay here again

Unfortunately we didnt make it through our first night because of a family emergency, but the check in/check out was easy and Alyssa & Michelle were awesome! Thank you also for recognizing our Anniversary with a card and some snacks, something no other hotel has ever done for us!! Our room was very clean and smelled great Plenty of towels and bed was comfy Looking forward to making a return visit

We stayed at this hotel because of the star rating I wish I would have read the reviews instead Our room wasn’t very clean and the toilet seat was loose

There was no bar of soap, only pump containers that were less than half full for a family of 4 One of the queen beds was broken and wobbly Only 1 small trash can in the bathroom, none in the room itself We couldn’t find any ice machines on any floor Pool was tiny and looked cloudy The only plus is that it is close to Cedar Point The breakfast was good except there was no orange juice

Originally booked our stay at another hotel that ended up being filthy! After lots of stress and some tears, I found this hotel had an available room last minute, and I’m so thankful it did! Ended up being much closer to cedar point than our original booking, and the hotel itself was much, much nicer After explaining our headache to the manager, I believe named Todd, he kindly gave us a room with a bay view! Amazing customer service from him, and from his staff that we interacted with Anything we needed was quickly provided upon request, no issues with our room whatsoever

Large breakfast with plenty of options Next door is an awesome and unique restaurant and game lounge as well

George Terplan

My stay here was good overall I am not sure why, but I never had any room service all week other than the one day I requested to have it done The breakfast service was standard for any HI Exp, but they don’t have any orange juice here

My room was great overall and I slept comfortably in the bed and lastly the front desk staff was very friendly and time I needed something

Decent hotel but when you pay over $300 a night, they tell you don’t have room service, and you have to call for towels We called for towels and waited 2 hours Nobody showed up

When we called the front receptionist and told him politely that we were disgruntled about not having towels he hung the phone up on us This is no way to resolve a problem with a paying guest that has done nothing wrong! There is no advantage of staying at a Cedar Point Hotel I recommend using an independent vendor You will get better service

We have stayed at this hotel in the past for HalloWeekends This time, we stayed for a softball tournament hosted as Sports Force Park and the nightly rate was significantly more than in the past We tried to check into our room at 5:00 and were told our room was not ready

I inquired about 4pm check in and was told that check in starts at 4, but is not guaranteed I was told I would receive a text when the room was ready, but never did We ended up going to the park until closing so room was ready when we returned at 11pm This is a very minimalistic hotel, no coffee in the lobby, no breakfast, no housekeeping during your stay If anything is needed, was told to see the front desk staff The room was clean, which is very important, but the beds were hard and the pillows were awful Very firm pillows one was not quite enough and two was too much Ended up not sleeping well and waking with neck aches both days we were there Would likely not stay here again unless required to due to another softball tournament Location is great Centrally located between the amusement park and the athletic complex

Nick

Wow, thought this would be a reliable place to stay as it’s connected with Cedar Point but noThey were wrong about our reservations and were super rude about itCan’t hold bags while you’re at the park

Everyone is hurting for good workers, but this place must pay nothing judging by the helpfulness of the staff and manager Makes me not want to come to visit the park Would definitely think long and hard about visiting cedar point and would not under any circumstances recommend staying here
