Our first stay at HIE in years (just from lack of travel), this hotel was exceptional! Our room was very clean and beautifully appointed, staff were kind and helpful, breakfast was delicious! The beds were so comfortable, a welcome respite after hours of driving I can’t express how wonderful our stay was! Still on the road, and staying at another HIE tonight Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We stayed here for my daughter’s graduation from Radford University This hotel was remodeled around 2019 and is very nice Our room was very well designed and included a Keurig coffee maker and mini fridge

The bed was VERY comfortable and the shower worked well The morning continental breakfast included a veggie omelet, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit and all the standard cereal/oatmeal optionsAlthough we didn’t use them, the work out rooms and pool looked very nice and cleanEvery member of the staff was very friendly and welcoming and helped make our stay very pleasant If you need a place to stay in this area, we highly recommend this location

Great staff Good rooms My only suggestion is to get rid of the carpets as the room smells like dogs in the room designed for dogs

Install tile which will give the room a much cleaner smell, especially since you charge an extra $75 for dogs so it shouldn’t smell like dogs And it wasn’t just me, some guy in the hallway told his wife, this floor (1st floor) smells like dogsOtherwise it is a well ran hotel with excellent staff Heated pool which is very nice Decent breakfast included and a very friendly breakfast staff

Steven Boehm

Immaculately clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, updated amenities, absolutely zero complaints about this Hotel The bed was huge, the room had nice furniture, towels stocked to the brim They even had mouthwash with the room

I also appreciated the military rate Overall great experience and I will be back next time I am in the area

Jessica Harman

Clean and comfortable place in a good spot off highway However the maid came in and hour and half before checkout without knocking rudely saying when are yall leaving? I said check outside at noon and she says no 1030 than walks out and slams my door I called front desk immediately and they only blamed it on her being new

But even new people should have better manners than that and know the check out time

I have stayed at this hotel more times than any other place in Blacksburg for various reasons over the years Price is right, location to campus is great, and staff is always super helpful Given these facts lots of visiting schools use this hotel during athletic events

Includes morning continental breakfast or spring for the full on breakfast and has a bar Meetings can be had there and has a very large conference table in lobby area that is also useful for doing work Rooms were super clean, I think you have to request service if you need, but a great stay overall Again

This hotel is very nice and newly renovated We just stayed one night while passing through, but I would stay here everytime making the drive north to south from now on At a dog friendly hotel, you never know about cleanliness but this place was a clean as it can get

Everything looks brand new , bed was super comfy and it was quiet and in a safe area The front desk staff checking in was very friendly as well and my puppy enjoyed his biscuit on arrival

Lauren Kibler

This was by far the very best Hampton I have ever stayed at The customer service was fantastic and the hotel was spotless The breakfast was the best I have had at any place that included breakfast

They checked on us after we arrived in our room, they greeted us with a smile, and checked us out with kindness If you are looking for a hotel in the area STAY HERE They were even welcoming to our pup!!

Mary Ray

This hotel is either new or remodeled, it is lovely, updated, nicely furnished and very clean Friendly staff throughout Hot breakfast

Super location My one comment to the hotel, there is no longer daily room cleaning, you leave a card on the door requesting what you need We were there 3 nights, on day 3 requested fresh towels and empty wastebaskets, left for the day and came back to the same pile of wet towels and overflowing waste cans, too late to do anything about it If this is the system, a card on the door should not go unnoticed an entire day

Jalyn Daniels-Boyd

The front staff stayed in their offices talking on their phones, eating with doors open There was boxes and cleaning supplies in main lobby for two days we stayed In the bottom stairwell (which we had to use because one elevator was not working and the other had cliches), there was trash, cleaning cards, storage stuff – unsightly and not safe if little children

The front desk nor the breakfast signs made it clear what consisted of a continental breakfast (which is included with room) – it was intermixed with the hot breakfast which you are charged $10 per person (added to your bill as you leave which they cannot print you a copy of to check – only can be emailed to you) The hot breakfast had uncooked bacon and biscuits so hard you could not break them apart to eat them There were other things but you get the idea

Brian J

Overall this Holiday Inn was pleasant Be sure to book a room in advance for a good price (~$80), or you can end up paying ~$180 at the last minute Room was decent

Certain things could be updated or replaced Parking is tight / limited next to the hotel End up parking at the nearby Walmart side parking lot The Texas steak restaurant across the street must be good I saw alot of cars thereEmployees were friendly and helpful At check in the front desk didn’t mention the “price difference” between the free Continental (cold) breakfast and the $895 hot breakfast I found out the difference on my 2nd morning of breakfast, when the lady working the breakfast area asked for my “breakfast card” Later that morning they posted a sign near the breakfast area (see photo)

We stayed here for my daughter’s VT new student visit and LOVED it! The check-in experience was friendly and efficient, and our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable I slept like a rock and couldn’t hear any noise from the hall or other rooms The hotel is super convenient located just next to campus

This will be my go-to place to stay when I visit for the next 4+ years

Todd Moneymaker

Dinner buffet was a complete rip off! Food was scarce and I’ll prepared We arrived at 7 to find no salad, cold chicken and deserts that appeared to be old with an outer crust on cheese cake Wait staff were dressed in sweatpants? Bubble gum stuck to the chairs

Drinks took 30 minutes to get To top it off dinner for 5 was $300!! Very disappointing as we here in town for my sons graduation Do not eat here! The staff complained about new management and apologized for everything bing so bad since new management took over I would have rated this place a zero but that wasn’t an option

We had our wedding at Clay Corner Inn and it was far more amazing than we could have imagined and it was all because of the exceptional service offered by the staff The property is beautiful, if you’re looking for a nice cozy at home feel The beds are super comfortable, and the kids loved swimming in the pool

I cannot recommend this place enough, their wedding packages are very affordable and their service is out of this world Josh, Jenna and their staff are just incredible and they do everything possible to make sure your needs are met We are incredibly thankful to them for making our special day memorable Also the bar is lovely and the drinks are strong!

Mitchel Snarr

We really enjoyed our stay at the Clay Corner Inn; the location is unbeatable for staying in Blacksburg as you’re right off the Huckleberry Trail and can walk anywhere on campus or downtown easily The rooms were extremely clean and well thought out We didn’t find ourselves needing anything that a full service hotel would normally provide

The check in process was very easy, as the owner communicates with you directly and personally to address any questions The bar/restaurant downstairs has a great vibe for a bed and breakfast and serves as the perfect spot to start your morning/evening Will be coming back every chance we get when we’re in town

Michael Busacca

Staying at the Clay Corner Inn was truly a great experience The room and house was beyond clean, spotless, immaculate even The warm and comfy beds and cloud like pillows makes it’s hard to leave

Ordering room service for breakfast was super easy and convenient as everything is done on phone The food was delicious and delivered by a smiling friendly face Overall our experience was extraordinary, completely love the place

We stayed at the Oaks for the second time celebrating a wedding anniversary The house is beautiful, tastefully decorated and radiates warm Victorian charm Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing

Our hosts, Jason and Shannon were extremely nice and accommodating It is obvious they enjoy what they do The special coffee and tea options when we arrived was a nice treat, and the breakfast was delicious and healthy

Jarrett Perdue

Jason and Shannon were fantastic hosts who clearly love sharing their historic home with guestsCan you imagine waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking and knowing that, after a discrete knock, it will be waiting (made to order!) just outside your door? They helped make our anniversary delightful, recommending local dining and even opening a favorite wine to help us celebrate during an evening stroll among the fireflies in their beautiful secluded gardenA wonderful experience!

Erin Gloeckner

Excellent stay at The Oaks in the Garden Cottage I highly recommend this property and its wonderful innkeepers for anyone looking to rest, recharge, feel pampered, and have a fun getaway Shannon and Jason are incredibly hospitable, attentive, and generous of spirit

They provided an exciting tour of the historic home and I enjoyed learning about the Pierce family members who made this place come to life The lovely garden and huge front porch are great spots to hang out and enjoy the delicious treats made by chef Shannon and barista Jason During my stay, I drank many Cuban coffees and ate as many fruit parfaits with homemade granola as I could The Garden Cottage room was a perfect fit for me with a lofted bed, seating area, and private gazebo in the garden Each room in the main house is beautiful as well, and has its own personality in honor of a late Pierce family member I’m excited to return someday and spend more time at The Oaks, and with Jason and Shannon who I already miss!

Arrived on 7/7 around 4-5 and the man working the desk is outstanding! Sorry nice and helpful!! The outside looks great, the room was great, clean, spacious I was by a nice outdoor pool and got tub Breakfast the next morning was really good and the lady that was taking care of the breakfast was also super friendly!! YOU are reality hiring great people and I will stay there the next time I am working in that area!!

My favorite thing about my stay was the customer service! The gentleman who checked me in was quick and thorough My first key didn’t work, got another and he even came out to the second building to make sure that if it didn’t work, he would take a look and see why The worst part of my stay was that the television was bigger than any other quality inn that I have stayed at

I’m too busy working on my laptop to enjoy it Lol definitely getting a 5 star, plus it was super clean and everything worked well!

CaseyLee

Came up for a few days from Virginia Beach to move my daughter into her dorm at Virginia Tech! Overall our experience was very nice and accommodating for the cost! Front desk staff was very nice, upgraded my room to a king suite upon arrival But my room had no toilet paper, and the room itself was not clean Bits of popcorn in the floor

I had to clean my toilet seat because apparently their housekeepers cleaned with a blindfold on or maybe they couldn’t see because the main light was out in the bathroom There are no vents, so after you take a shower everything stays damp and it smells mildewy This is not a room I feel comfortable touching things in, and I’m super disappointed because its located in a beautiful country setting- UPDATE: I checked out a night early because on night #2 as I was trying to fall asleep and noticed that my pillowcase had come untucked, and the pillow inside was brown They were all like that I travel a lot for work visiting sometimes multiple hotels each week and this place was just awful Do not stay here! For $100 a night, all I ask for is a clean place to sleep

Fg74hb

The only positive thing I have to say is the front desk girl was very nice She transferred me to 3 different rooms because first room had stains on bed sheets, bed itself was so hard and you can feel the springs Ac did not work

2nd room you can tell had been rented several times to pets, as this is a pet friendly hotel There was hair all over the place Plus crumbs on the floor 3rd room you can tell the housekeeping does her job, but again, the bed was hard as a rock You can feel the springs I travel for work and I stay at Choice Hotels everyday I have to say this has got to be the most uncomfortable hotel yet Plus, to top it off, I almost got attacked by a dog, and the hotel guests started laughing when the dog tried to bite me as I was getting off the elevatorI do not dare say what else can go wrong I know I won’t be having a good night’s sleep while having to stay on this very uncomfortable bed

Such a great venue and atmosphere If you’re looking for a beautiful place to host a party, an event, and especially a wedding Look no further than here

They will give you a fair price, and you and your guests will be glad you chose Nesselrod on the New The new owner, Jeff is a great guy who is friendly, respectful, and honest He will work with you to make sure that your special day is wonderful!

Evie Frazier

We recently stayed at the Nesselrod on the New under the new owners Jeff was super accommodating, and helpful in giving local recommendations for places to eat and activitiesWe stayed in the room with the twin beds (it was me and my son)

The room was spacious, very clean, and quiet, and had large windows that allowed for lots of light and a great view of the property, Radford and a bit of the riverThe beds were VERY comfortable, and the shared space with the TV on the main level was welcomed as it allowed us to feel at home and not confined to a “hotel room” My son enjoyed some YouTube videos while eating breakfastWe also explored the property which is really cool Lots of walking paths You can also walk to the Rocco’s, a Mexican restaurant with outdoor seating Just across the bridge, is Radford and Main Street with lots of local restaurants and a coffee shopYou’re just steps from the riverfront park with miles of paved walking trails, tennis courts, playground, volleyball court, and kayak/tubing rentals We enjoyed the trails during the down time It was nice to have such proximity to nature! If we’re in the area again, we’ll definitely be back! Though I imagine they’ll be full as others discover what an awesome gem this is under the new management!

Awesome experience and customer service Very clean rooms and great food When the restaurant is open on the weekends parking is hard to find but the street parking adjacent to the park is also available and seemed safe

A great hotel for train enthusiasts as well! Multiple opportunities to see long trains, especially after midnight! Be on the lookout for the twice daily train with the caboose!

There is a train right next to the hotel We worried it would go all night with the whistle but we didn’t hear it between 9:30 and 5:30, but especially if you are on that side, you will be awakened I see other reviews mention it going all night

This was a Sunday The floors, walls and ceilings are not well soundproofed and you will hear televisions and noise from the restaurant, which fortunately has a last seating at 8:30, at least currently It’s an old building with restrictions on what they can do However the rooms are very nice, clean, and pretty well stocked Ours had 2 sinks There are keurig coffee makers and the pillows and bed were very comfortable Restaurant was reasonable with good food I will update after the breakfast Supposedly it is varied and hot

This looked like a great stay off the beaten path during 2 days of long driving It has a lot of character and the rooms are unique and clean All of the front desk and wait staff were very nice and helpful

The restaurant was also a great place for dinner All of the good things don’t really matter when you’re in a hotel that you can’t get any sleep in! My whole family has been up almost all nightThe NOISE:The reviews that mention the train are 100% true After we checked in, a very loud train came by right across the street at 6pm, 8pm After the 8pm, the front desk told us the next one wouldn’t be until the morning Well, they kept rolling in at 2am, 4am and 4:45amWhile you’re not sleeping due to the train, the walls and floors are also paper thin We can hear everyone from every which way I think I know all the children’s names around us, what people watch on TV, and that there is a man who is incredibly sick either below me or next to me In the insanity, my husband and I had to joke that we were in Shawshank and wondered who was gonna break first
