A delight that exceeded expectations: As we traveled from NYC to Charleston SC, we planned to stop for a dinner with family in Roanoke Much to our delight, we stayed at The Hotel Roanoke The overnight stay became an experience rich with historical and architectural appreciation, comfort and hospitality

From the welcome at the main entrance by the Valet Service to the Receptionist who worked to respond to our slightly early arrival (noting that we are Hilton Honor clients) – locating the room we reserved, the stay that we would talk about began The room was well appointed with everything we would need or want The view was as we requested My spouse went for a swim as I relaxed after a long drive We would eventually find our way back to the wonderfully inviting lobby – a great place to sit, relax before dinner and take in the ambiance Dinner in The Pine Room was satisfying, giving us time to visit with family over an enjoyable and fulfilling meal We ended the evening with drinks as we sat around tables off the lobby that encouraged conversations It was a delightful stay that exceeded expectations

It was clean, quiet, very affordable, and the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful The rooms looked a little run down but they were clean and that’s what matters Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker

Free toiletries were provided too The breakfast is a grab and go style- it’s just a few granola bars and muffins – so don’t count on having a hearty breakfast here We will definitely stay here again!

Zaneta Woods

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed The room smelled of mold and mildew Management “played dumb” and told me tough luck when I mentioned it to them at the front desk

I could hear the couple next door clearly watching tv because the walls are so thin The hallways stunk of smoke The breakfast was laughable Just bottles of water and granola bars, the hotel I stayed in north of here had a hot buffet Never again Super 8 This hotel doesn’t deserve to be rated above a 2

My wife and I stayed here on 7/11/2022 The room was large, clean and quiet The staff were friendly and helpful

The breakfast area was cleaned and well maintained The breakfast itself was standard fare you would see at a hotel but it was plentiful and good tastingThe hotel itself is on the northern portion of Roanoke and less then a mile off of I-81 You will have to travel a little (5 minutes or so) to have sit down meal for the evening, but it’s not that far and there are plenty of suggestions with directions available at the front deskThe hotel has an indoor pool, fitness room and business center

I don’t like writing less than stellar reviews, but this hotel was very off brand from most of the Hilton umbrella hotels I’ve stayed atStaff was extremely welcoming and helpful, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with the three employees I met brieflyThe biggest issue was the humidity in the room

I arrived at 2 AM so didn’t have much time to get settled before going to sleep, the floors, sheets, and pillows were all noticeably and uncomfortably moist Running the AC for about an hour solved this issue, but I was consistently having very long days and ended up having to sleep on nearly damp sheets each night I checked out a night early and stayed at a friends house after the third night of coming back to damp sheetsThe mini fridge did not work well, if at all, I kept one water bottle in it and it came out slightly cooler than room temperature at best The bath tub faucet leaked and the tub didn’t drain fully while the shower was running The room itself was just dated overall, bits of trim on the floor chipped off, minor stains, etcThe outside door near my room rarely locked fully unless it was pushed close deliberately, but the hotel isn’t in the worst part of town so that was just a minor concern One of the locks on my door was also broken, but the deadbolt was still workingGreat potential with some general maintenance, but the wet sheets are a deal breaker for now

Normally, I really like the Hampton Inn but when I arrived at this location at 3:30 PM for a funeral the next day, I was told by the front desk clerk that the room wasn’t ready and to come back in 30 minutes even though check in is 3 PM

after going to McDonald’s to get some food, I was allowed to check in I was told that the room was being cleaned while we waited but honestly, as the pictures show, this room was filthy and they only put clean towels and linens in before saying it was clean I washed my sons feet four times and they continued to turn black from the carpet if he took his shoes off The bathroom was so nasty and the shower head was so covered in mold, I didn’t feel comfortable even taking a shower to get ready for the funeral prior to check out Hampton Inn always has good breakfast and it didn’t disappoint, but the rest of the stay was less than great I hope they can get the floors and bathrooms cleaned properly before the next guest

The room was very spacious and generally clean but not super clean Everything worked fine, sinks, toilet, shower, air conditioner The location was great for us but nothing is really walking distance but the Catholic Church next door

The room itself smelled fine but the corridor smelled like a locker room The breakfast was included but pretty light, only cereal, toast and pastries, yogurt, and waffles to eat The staff was generally friendly and helpful The luggage carriers were great, quite large and there were plenty of them

Benjamin Nguyen

Reserved room through Hotelcom Hotel clerk Meet said there was no record of reservation

As it was late; I booked a room Then went to my room and called Hotelcom who said they do have record of my booking, and called hotel and spoke to Meet Bottom line, I had to pay for the room again and hope Hotelcom will refund my ticket Hotel was very clean, spacious Great hot breakfast If wasn’t for check in snafu, would be 5 starsADDENDUM: Comfort Inn agreed not to charge me for the room twice Gave 1 star back We stayed at 5 hotel/Inn during this trip Comfort Inn was the best Will choose Comfort Inn going forward

The staff was very sweet and caring but the room we got smelled like piss and was incredibly stuffy The beds were cozy but there was a few pieces of dirt in it which made me question how clean it was We asked for a tool change but a baseball team was currently staying there for a game that evening and had booked the place

There’s a hospital right down the street and a few restaurants to eat downtown plus a baseball stadium and football stadium near by Thr 1st floor is nit the place to stay, I also recommend buying an air freshener when staying here, it’ll help with the awful smell

Anatoli SHOTSKI

Good location, still no bed bugsThis is the worst room service ever!We were there two weeks in two roomsAfter 2 days they asked to clean the rooms

Nobody came Then every day we asked to clean up They could only throw out the trash and leave the towels on the floor in the bathroom Sometimes they brought only two towels, and the garbage and towels were not removed from the floor Once the bed was made, but nothing else was done And we kept asking for a FULL cleaning every day! Very lazy workers!Updated:We worked in your cityEvery day we left at 7:50 and returned after 19:00Management! Do not try to make excuses, but rather monitor the level of service

YogiMom ToFive

My kids and I came to Salem for my brother’s funeral We chose this hotel for convenience and costs However, I would’ve driven many extra miles to not have seen and experienced this god~ awful place

We reserved three nights and two rooms The rooms were horribly unsanitary and stinky Our first full day, we came back to our rooms not being cleaned whatsoever; no towels, full trash, no toilet tissue, beds unmade My older sons’ checked in the next day to their room literally having vomit, diarrhea or something equally horrid down the side of toilet We have video This specific hotel made our time in Salem for a funeral no less, so incredibly stressful and utterly infuriating Everyone considering staying here should be aware of our experience As should the health departmentNever ever again

We had an absolutely awful experience at this hotel the last 3 days We had multiple problems that I’d like to disclose1

) Absolutely no hot water in the bathtub, we weren’t even able to take a shower which was mandatory for me because I had surgery Wednesday morning & needed to shower with my disinfectant body wash & what is even more crazy is that there was hot water in the sink, but not the bathtub/shower water Additionally, the bathtub was dirty & had hair in it2) The pull out couch was dusty & dirty & we found two bugs when we pulled it out (not bed bugs, thank god)3) The bathroom light switches were absolutely disgusting & looked like they had never been cleaned before, I have photos of that if you’d like to see4) The phone was ringing constantly throughout the night & you could hear it clearly in the room which wasn’t very niceVery poor experience I am very disappointed in my stay

Joy Hamilton

Mostly clean lobby and rooms But the design features in the rooms are terrible We had connected rooms and Between the room door, the connecting door and the closet doors it was difficult entering and exiting sometimes

Speaking of closets, the bar for the clothes to hang on is installed too close to the front of the closet so the door doesn’t close well because it hits the hangers There isn’t a dresser!!!! Just 2 cabinet doors (that slam so loudly) with wire pullout drawers Even the desk lamp is designed badly, it either points directly down or out into the room Trying access the TP under the bathroom vanity was another bad design Oh and putting the faucet left of center in the sink is just plain stupid!! If this is what Hilton is offering these days we may have to find another brand to go with The staff was fantastic!!

Deanna Alexander

When I arrived to check in I gave the wrong name for the reservation because I had made it awhile prior to my visit but once I provided the confirmation number the staff at the desk was not able to find my reservation and even asked if I was at the right place! My daughter had already checked us in prior to our arrival, but all of that info was in the reservation I showed where my credit card had been charged, and I don’t think he made much of an effort to check for the reservation until my husband started to get upset! After driving for 8 hours, the only thing you want to do is relax and not have to wait! Although he apologized and offered peanuts and water, it was a bad start! I chose this place because of the good reviews, and I usually stay at Hampton Inn I will continue to stay at Hampton Inn but not this location

I think that the customer service could have been much better, and that’s the reason for the low rating The room was actually clean and nice!

Once again, the staff made our stay wonderful! Liz, Melissa, and Missy went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing less than fantastic The biggest reason we choose this hotel is because of these staff members We’ll be back again in a week or so, and we’ll be staying here for the 3rd time in the last 2 months

The room was clean, and comfy as usual Everything one needs for a great visit is here Robyn (sorry if i misspelled ) was helpful and professional as well, and nothing less than a delight to speak with and be around If you’re looking for accommodations for the night or the week, look no further! My wife and i look forward to staying here again soon I reside on Hilton Head Island, so i know what good service and accommodations are supposed to be likeand this hotel with it’s staff are 5 stars to say the least! Thanks again for making our visits memorable! I can’t forget Ms Brenda, she always kept our room clean and organized So, in a nutshell, this is where you want to stay while in townso just go ahead a make a reservation here You won’t regret it! 👍👍

What an incredible experience From checking in with Markia who was having computer issues but offered water and an overwhelming number of apologies Things out of her control but I felt like she was very attentive, professional and considerate

Breakfast was yummy and had enough for me Lastly on check out I did not know if I would have time to come back because we were there for a softball tournament I left at 7am and she offered to hold the keys for me in case I could come back Just so thoughtful!

Chelsea Starkey

Scammers!!!!! BEWARE!!!! This by far is the worst hotel you can stay in, near the mall area!!! There are plenty of other options please use those The beds are small Full size beds for double beds

And the bathroom is a closet space And the closet space is a whole in the wall!!! The breakfast is the same thing every day!! Turkey sausage, sage plain eggs, and monkey bread Started with 2 suites and scheduled through what they call a 3rd party person from India Then when we got there we just wanted to keep one suite It went from you can cancel in the morning, to you can’t cancel at all because it was booked with the Hyatt number which they call a 3rd party!! Then when it came time to check out on Monday they said a housekeeper told them they smelled smoke in the room the night before and no one smokes in the room we asked them why no one came to our room the night it supposed to have happened and she told me I seen it on a note this morning They are scammers and desperate to make up anything to drain a dollar No housekeeper came to my room the whole weekend to check on if I needed new towels or sheets Everything I needed I had to go to the front desk to get And I couldn’t even use the phone in the hotel room to call front desk Because all the phone on the 2nd floor were disconnected That is what front desk told me This is by far more of a headache then a home away from home I will never again!!!

Devra Brusso (Lashing)

Can tell it’s been recently renovated Overall clean The bed was very comfortable

The sheet metal base was weird though You can hear the metal popping if you sat near the foot of the bed Shower felt like being in a space pod but it was roomy Took a moment to understand the temperature control vs pressure control Did it’s purpose for the night so nothing to complain about

Mykl Dean

I’m a local and I needed a place to stay for the night My girl and I had an excellent stay the staff was exceptionally professional even though my credit card was acting a fool After the second attempt it went through without a hitch and everything was groovy but if you’re looking for a nice clean Hotel in Roanoke Virginia this would be a good place to go

Sheets are clean rooms are immaculate you can’t ask for more than that And it was only $99 a night

Sarah Creamer

I stayed for 3 nights recently The room smelled bad and was persistently damp The humidity was so bad that nothing could dry and the carpet felt somewhat wet and sticky

The carpet was a dark color so it was hard to see, but it definitely felt/smelled moldy There was also a group of three men that liked to hang out in the parking lot who harassed me several timesI got an email asking for feedback, so I was honest This prompted a chain of belligerent emails from the owner implying that I was lying and/or wrong because I had not complained during my stay I assumed that I had been given the best room available and I was too busy to move to a different hotel Given how he came across in these emails I can’t imagine I would have been treated differently if I had said something at the timeSimply the fact that the room I was given was up to the hotels standards is alarming

She went above and beyond every chance she could I was so happy I picked this place It is so warm and inviting here It seems like there is nothing that was not thought about here I was left wanting for nothing Cindy Lou left breakfast baskets that had delicious muffins in the morning, as well as some snacks too They even had snacks in the room, as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and water All the rooms are beautiful The suites are amazing Well worth the money you pay for them The bed was amazing This place really left no stone un-turned on service I will come back here

Susan Von Heill

The Inn is beautiful and the innkeeper Cindy Lou could not have been more helpful Three of us stayed in one of the larger suites which was perfect The breakfast basket left outside the door in the morning contained fresh fruit and freshly baked muffins along with a snack for later

We look forward to our next visit with more time on the fabulous front porch

My wife and I planned our wedding from halfway across the country, and Lisa was a great asset in helping us understand the available hotel resources and rooms, and the mechanisms available to our guests to book rooms She also offered to personally manage the bookings if any of our guests had difficulty with the process (some where not state-side during the process, leaving them with only email to contact the hotel) Once we checked in, we felt greatly supported by Lu and Linda and the rest of the hotel staff

Our wedding was on a Saturday and Linda kept the bar open late for us (coordinated ahead of time with a definite drop dead time) helping us to feel as though she was heavily invested in tending to our needs and wants We had a few hang ups, as regularly occur with large events such weddings, and the staff rapidly provided us with great solutionsThe rooms were quite large in comparison to any of the other lodging available in town The breakfast in the morning usually entailed eggs, meat, yogurt, waffles or pancakes, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and juice Sometimes they didn’t have water at breakfast, which was a little weird, and sometimes it was an ice water jug at the bar There is some covered parking, but likely only for about 40% of the guests We had beautiful weather the whole time save one afternoon, so it was never a concern for us We used the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and a couple times to various locations out in town While the regular driver was on vacation during our stay, the stand in drivers were knowledgeable, polite, and good drivers

Alison Holland

We stayed here for two days and were suppose to stay at another hotel closer to where our family lives Needless to say we checked out and checked right back in to this hotel, staying four nights Everyone is so accommodating and friendly

The rooms are clean and comfortable with fresh linens and extra towels The children were happy on the pull out couch/ day bed and had fun in the indoor pool We all had such a great night sleep with the down comforter and pillows The showers were refreshing with great water pressure and full bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash There is always fresh coffee and tea, cereal, breakfast bars, and oatmeal They also serve a hot breakfast till 10 We look forward to staying here again and will not stay anywhere else Thank you to all the staff who made this trip enjoyable and a special thank you to Lu who is so super wonderful, hard working, accommodating, and sweet, making our stay feel like home away from home

Heidi Sue Ross

We truly enjoyed our stay at SpringHill Suites in Roanoke! We drove up from Raleigh for the weekend, found the hotel easily, and immediately felt welcomed by the staff here Our room was clean, comfortable and well laid out, and housekeeping did a great job of taking care of our needs All of the staff was friendly and helpful, but Linda and Jeanie were true standouts in their warmth and professionalism! An unexpected bonus was the “front row seat” to the fireworks show on the evening of 7/3- we opened the window to hear everything, and we had an amazing, unobstructed view from our room on the 4th floor

We definitely plan to stay here again on future trips! Thank you to everyone at this hotel for a wonderful weekend experience!

Hotel room was clean; modern furniture & the view from our room was beautiful at night & in the morningBreakfast was good; limited options & they ran out of some options close to 9AM (which is when then close & totally fine)Great option to stay with kids as they have a pool table & the lounge area is noise friendly 😉

Brand new hotel The rooms are slightly modern is style and minimal Large shower, and everything was very clean

Breakfast was simple but done well The pool tables and TV’s were actually nice to use while waiting on other members of your party The bed was overly firm, but all and all a nice little stay, especially for the price

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!I have never met a more rude, abrasive or combative manager in my entire life I called to tell the front desk there would be a late check in, this has never been a problem at any other Hilton before Upon arrival we were told that they canceled the rooms and we could not get our rooms that were paid for at a corporate acct rate

They ended up re-booking the rooms at a full rate and charged an additional $143 for no reason I sent over a credit card authorization form earlier that day and stated the MAX they could charge my card for, it was as if that authorization form was completely ignored and they charged it for whatever they wantedI called in the morning and spoke with the manager Kathy who when I gave my name, she immediately stated ” oh we’ve had problems with your room since last night” When I told her about the extra charge she tried to gaslight me into believing it was not their problem I screenshot the charges and sent them via email and sent them to her She was unprofessional, rude, short, and all around should not be dealing with customers We were promised a late check out since we got in late and she came up to the room as we were 3 minutes past check out time and demanded we leave I have never met such an awful person in my entire life

For starters, Summer, the evening front desk representative was fantastic! We stayed on the fifth floor – room was spotless, stocked with all supplies, smelled good, and everything was fresh ALL the staff no matter the position greeted my wife and I, no matter the time of the night The morning there was a nice time frame of a few hours of breakfast included

The kitchen staff was meticulous with their cleaning, the food was fresh, and again all supplies well stockedThank you again for the great experience and the fresh food Keep up the good work

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel It passed my cleaning test I usually don’t sleep when I stay at a hotel with the exception of this one

The breakfast was simple and good The only complaint I have is that the shower curtain sticks to you when you are taking your shower They might have to consider putting shower doors that would make it the best hotel experience ever

I have stayed in thousands of hotels literally over the decades and this is one of the nicest Beautiful rooms and bathroom, spotlessly clean and very comfortable (see pics) Hotel is clean all over, staff is friendly, and breakfast is hot and fresh

This was a converted Sheraton into a Fairfield and the quality shines through Highly recommend, Marriott’s done a wonderful job here

Great hotel if you are ok with losing your room while driving from out of town! My husband , dog and myself have stayed at this location a few times as it is a halfway point for our trips I made an online reservation almost a week before the stay, did the online check in where it said room was ready As we are en route to hotel after many hours of driving I get a call from the front desk worker “hi just letting you know we are overbooked you don’t have a room

” … I’m sorry what? She could have cared less, I said well that’s odd because I have had this reservation for days , and my online check in says room is ready Front desk worker said “oh yeah weird our system did something I’m not really sure but no rooms” … I said well what is then resolution here? We are literally on our way with our dog and need a place to stay, can I talk to the manager? Shockingly no manager was there, the front desk worker said she’d have the manager call me back… You guessed it no call We had to call Hilton Corporate which took around an hour with being re routed to multiple people and departments- while eventually corporate did help us to figure out a solution the whole thing was simply unacceptable At one point someone told us oh try the holiday inn down the road, WHAT! I will absolutely never book to stay at this location let alone any home 2 suites as that is so unsettling not knowing if you really do have a reservation with little to know help Maybe look into “the system “ that does the booking because I sure hope no one else has to deal with such

My partner and I stayed here over the weekend and were impressed with the staff members and their assistance We stayed in a handicap-accessible room, as it was all that was available with a king sized bed that was originally booked, and the room was equipped with a sink and refrigerator which were both perks The room was large enough for us to accommodate a pack and play for our baby, which was also helpful

Unfortunately the hotel itself has seen better days The rooms are noticeably starting to fall apart, from peeling wall paper, to half-done repairs (ex: the toilet paper holder was moved but the hole where it used to be was patched very poorly), the bathroom sink leaked when used, and during our stay 1 of the 2 elevators stopped working and slowed everyone down Neither the ice machines on the first or fourth floors worked either, which was disappointing

I stayed in a suite which was nice and large for my 2 toddlers to have room in Unfortunately the pool was closed for a bit, then the chlorine was so strong in the pool area we were forced to leave after 5min bc our eyes were burning Location is great! Hotel staff is friendly, hotel does need a lot of updating

Was not a fan of walking through people smoking to get in the side door with my children and myself having asthma and allergies It’s an adorable outside area but way too close to the entry doors

Great hotel with fantastic views!! Make sure to get a front facing roomThe staff was very friendly and well educated on the hotel processesOur room was very clean and the beds we very comfortable

The pillows were a bit too soft for my liking but if you double them over you can get byI was a bit disappointed that the hotel bar, which is located in the spacious lobby, closed at 10pm on a weekendThere are a few restaurants nextdoor (Outback, iHop) but you still need to drive to get there safely The hotel is high up on the mountain and it has a long a somewhat narrow driveway with several curvesDefinitely will stay there again

Very medium Awesome location Yes, it is immediately adjacent to Texas Roadhouse, but you better bring a parachute or your walking shoes

No beer on draft, but there is a fairly good selection in cans and bottles Wings were good Room was okay Clean Maintenance looks a bit “do it yourself” Take away the bar/restaurant, and I would say this hotel looks more like an older Hampton Inn There is maintenance underway, so I think they are on it!

The staff went out of their way here to be personable and attentive I give them a lot of credit for patiently putting up with other customers who I witnessed having hissy fits because something wasn’t the exact way they wanted it, there were shortages, or they had to wait in a line It’s too bad some people expect everything to be perfect even though things have just recently reopened and the pandemic is still going on

Despite that, the service, the dinner, and especially the breakfast was superior! And greatly appreciated them having cold fruit-infused water at the ready in the lobby, coming off the road in 97-degree weather!
