The entire staff here has been outstanding The room is comfortable and peaceful No matter what my simple needs were while here, all I had to do was ask

Very accommodating and helpful in times of true need Love them all and I thank God for places such as this that still have a large enough heart to have actual care for another human being Much Love to them all God Bless

Beautiful Facility – Road Noise is Bad (depending on room)Before bed time, I was about to give this Holiday Inn 5 stars Very clean; professional; up-to-date; bed was adequate But then

I tried to actually sleep I was in a room fairly close to the freeway on the top floorThe road noise on the freeway side was almost unbearable While the wall-to-wall windows are nice for a view, they make the sound intrusive I had earplugs in, and a sound machine blaring, and I still couldn’t block out the road noise (It’s that low rumble that rattles your bones) Aggressive motorcycles; big, loud tractor-trailers at 3 AM I lost at least 2 hours of sleep It was only after I made a “wall of pillows” using couch cushions to block some of the noise that I was finally able to get some sleep (see pic)I suggest this Holiday Inn removes the wall-to-wall windows and goes with smaller, sound-proof windows – at least the high floors that face the freeway Yes, it doesn’t look as nice, but at least guests can sleep

I wish I could do no stars at all Terrible service, staff was rude, wouldn’t even greet when u walk in I requested towels, shampoo and soap for 2 days in a row and never got it

Worst service ever Hallway rugs were dirty since the first day we arrived They definitely don’t keep up with the cleaning here which is so important Definitely not worth what you’re paying, extremely disappointing I do not recommend this hotel

I LOVE the Marriott brand hotels they are my first option for any hotel because of the staff, cleanliness and if available breakfast options I love staying at the Residence Inn when I’m with my kids because of the size of the room

my stay at this particular hotel was TERRIBLE!! I would have rather stayed at the Holiday Inn than this hotel1 the breakfast options were terrible nothing was fresh food was in a bag and heated no toast or bagel options I have stayed at the Staybridge and there was a variety of food options I was very disappointed2 I know I booked for 2 days but I have 4 kids under the age of 5 and I requested if they could please help us tidy the room and all I got was NO with no explanation the front desk staff was very unfriendly and unwelcomingI will never stay at this location or recommend it

Michele BOWLES

Thought my reservation for one night had been canceled by member of the front desk and I would get refund since Mother was ill But Denise (manager) indicated that NO refunds would ever be given and that he had no right to give one on the cancelation Very unprofessional

Will never stay with Residence Inn by Marriott again and will no longer use Hotelscom

Renee Rivet

The hotel was very nice and clean we stayed in a king suite the space and layout was really great The hotel was located in the heart of alot of attractions and restaurants we’d planned to attend so it made perfect senseMy only concern was mild cleaning the vent in the shower as you look up was very dirty needed some TLC and the shower can use some type of slip resistant mat or something

Overall stay was great would book again if in town

Not only was everything clean, but every single member of the staff was incredibly kind and helpful The staff running the breakfast area were consistently keeping everything stocked and clean and had great personalities We had the misfortune of accidentally leaving my 5 year olds most loved stuffed animal behind but the housekeeping staff had already found it and saved it for us so they could easily be reunited

Including any higher rated accommodations I’ve stayed in before, this was the best hotel experience I’ve ever had

Janet Stellete

They upgraded us to the same suite both times we stayed thereVery clean and comfortable, quiet and my husband enjoyed the free breakfastsThe folks who check you in are so kind and helpful

They treat you like family But not those relatives noone wants to visit, they treat you like the good familythe ones you love and take the best care of!

Stacey K

Shout out to Sharon and Katie for making a mom traveling by herself with 2 small children feel safe and welcome The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was safe after a previous night at an unsafe and scary hotel (not associated with Holiday inn) This hotel is clean, safe, great breakfast, friendly staff who care about your well being! Highly recommend!

Miss Rebecca was very nice, she was neat, tidy and respectful I loved her sweet southern belle energy Very professional and helpful

I was grateful to stay in a clean room with no hassle I will be staying again based on the performance of service from her I simply would give her a raise and a promotion for all her hard work! 5 stars ⭐️ 10/10 👍🏽 Keep being you! we need more individuals that are willing to take care of others the way you do! Have a beautiful day!

Dru Vaughn

The hotel is clean, the fitness center is adequate, the pool a good temp The fire pit is almost ALWAYS burning when I got “home” from work I want to mention 2 staff members who MADE my hotel visit feel like HOME – Zoe at the front desk! ALWAYS a warm hello, ALWAYS offered assistance, ALWAYS asked a follow up question to ensure I was taken care of and understood! She’s AWESOME and a wonderful Host and brand ambassador! The other staff member, I never got his name and should have, an older gentleman, maintenance most evenings – ALWAYS takes a moment to offer the little things (presses elevator button, offers to hold a door)

Also a wonderful host and a man who understands hospitality and taking care of guests These 2 employees made my visit so much more comfortable; THANK YOU!!!

KooKoo

The cleaning staff here is so kind and excellent at their jobs The front desk staff is amazing as well Any negative review on here is not truthful because I stay here frequently and it is always impeccably clean

The outdoor fire pits are wonderful and there is plenty of room to relax in the lobby whether you are getting a drink in the bar or if you are trying to work and/or need a casual place to meet for business in a public area Plenty of receptacles to plug into and also they have several TV monitors to utilize to hook up and present your PC screenI think most people (especially the complainers) need to get a grip; if something is wrong in a room at any hotel, you should probably live in reality…literally 1000s of folks stay in hotels weekly…things can happen – relax and politely ask for help If it’s not the place for you, take yourself somewhere else I travel to 20-30 hotels a year all over the US, I know quality hotels! This is a wonderful location and you’re lucky to have a room here Great for families, business, pleasure, etcThank y’all again for the hospitality and you’re doing great!

Spent 2 nights in a room, 1 night in a cabin This place is amazing, everyone, you come in contact with, Staff, residents, other guest very friendly and welcoming All buildings and grounds are very clean and well maintained

Rooms and cabins are comfortable Pools, Hot Tub and recreation areas are well maintainedThere is an on site restaurant and snack bar, however it was not opened the days we were here, due to staffing There are a few outside food options that are very good, but you will have to travel about 15-20 minutes to get to, plan accordinglyDid not want to leave, can not wait to get back

It never fails to be a good time here The people here are always so kind and generous and you will feel immediately at home The events are always a blast and even on the none holiday or event weekends this place still has things going on

The property is well taken care of as well and the emanates at nice The restaurant has some amazing food as well and it’s perfect place for a good spot of food and relaxation out of the sun! There is also plenty of things to do around the grounds as well like volleyball courts, library, gaming room, dance hall, tennis courts, racket ball court, and even an over sized chess set!

Liz Hazelmyer

Very nice facilities 2 pools: one indoor and one outdoor which is heated A brand new hot tub

Also a heated sauna A little out of the way: an hour from Hampton Roads We went for the day only I am told some areas flood with heavy rain but not when we were there It’s reasonably priced to join and visit We went there twice We went a third time and told we were banned No conflicts, no complains no explanation, nothing We have attended many resorts such as this without incident We are in many protected classes and are being discriminated against

My husband and I stayed there for five days I loved how convenient it was to all shopping centers and restaurants The breakfast layout was comforting and the chefs were very professional

The hotel itself was beautifully made but the hotel room servicing staff were inadequate Upon arrival the room that we were given was not cleaned properly Hair was in the shower, the floor wasn’t swept, and the bed was poorly made The only time we received clean towels was upon request and we never got fresh linens (yes we placed the green sign on the bed) We got asked if we wanted service a day before we were checking out, but by that time it’s too late Also, the water pressure in the shower is very poor for that room 5 stars for hotel appearance but 3 stars for room service

Reni N

Great location! Great rooms The rooms have a little kitchen with sink, plates and utensils Staff and manager are friendly

Breakfast quality and experience could be a lot better Good Internet speed One of the electric car chargers is broken Walking distance to a lot of great places like the pub and Indian restaurant close by I’m here all summer so I’ll update the review at the end

The front desk’s customer service was exceptional! I didn’t get a name but the two ladies working February 11th between 10am-2pm were so patient and accommodating to usThe facilities were amazing as well Great location!

Hotel is nice and very clean Very nice staff Really good breakfast and nice seating area

People were enjoying the hotel pool It is located directly across the street from Patrick Henry Mall within walking distance You can tell that the hotel has been newly renovated however there are still some minor signs of its original look I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

Antonio Arrington

Very pleasant experience with little to no issues My family and I stayed for two nights and everyone was courteous Only minor negative I had was housekeeping forgot to bring new towels after I asked; and there was a softball team that came and stayed and had a mini party in the lobby

Unfortunately my room was on the first floor and I heard a bit of it, but other than that very pleasant experience

Drew Smith

My wife and I usually only stay at Hilton or Hamptons However, we waited until the day before our trip to secure a room We were pleasantly surprised by this Comfort

Hotel cleanliness was an A The staff were very welcoming and friendly The continental breakfast offered a variety from eggs, bacon, assuage, biscuits & gravy, muffins, bagels, cereals, and more Again, I was pleasantly surprised Rooms were very modern as well as the bathroom Water pressure was a little low for the shower, but I can’t fault that much Overall, it was a very comfortable stay

This was a great experience staying here at the Marriott My room was clean and cozy We ate downstairs in the restaurant and the food was really good

My girlfriend is not really a drinker but Felicia made her a perfect drink that she really enjoyed JD puts lots of Love into preparing his food 👍And the front staff was very nice and ready to help in any way they can If I’m in Newport News again, this will be where I will stay Good job guys!!!!!

Jim Bullard

My honest opinion with my stay at the Marriott at Newport News City Center was above my expectations Your hotel has the best staff, from checking in, to answering questions, refreshing the room daily, and I would be so wrong if I did not mention the staff during breakfast All of this put together, made my visit awesome

I have stayed in several Marriott’s in the past, but I have to say, was the best for me I applaud you and your staff for providing your customers with a well-managed and maintained hotel Please let your staff know, I thank them for all they did for me during my stay I will be back!Sincerely,James Bullard

Caroline Hafey

I’ve stayed here twice for business, and both times were very pleasant Is it the fanciest Marriott? No, but it’s perfect for a work trip The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are well equipped (both rooms I stayed in had a refrigerator which is huge for me- and they have a shared microwave down the hall you can use), and the facilities are well maintained

The gym has several well-functioning treadmills, other cardio equipment, and weights They have coffee and tea left out, as well as bottled water The buffet breakfast is perfect for travel – they have a healthy “cold” side and then the traditional hot breakfast spread The location is prime for walking to other restaurants, and parking is easy Will certainly stay here again!

This is an extended stay hotel located in a quiet business park area It was extremely clean and the service was very nice There is no restaurant that serves food, but if you wanted you can rent cookware to cook in your room

The room was spacious and comfortable There is a small gym and laundry area for use as well I am definitely booking there again

Quess Green

Terrible management Front staff is aggressive Tracy Wyckoff, Autumn Campbell and Miles (front desk with dreads) are running the facility to the ground! No maintenance on site, have to deal with any amenities in the room not working until maintenance returns

We had to unclog our own toilet and bathtub drain Mold covering the ceilings in the room When attempting to complain, front staff will not assist They allow Miles to aggressively knock on room doors and use foul language to degrade guests They expect checkout to be earlier than said time of noon All around terrible experience! We will not return If you value your money and experience, highly recommend spending a bit more to book elsewhere

Tylor Blasko

Got checked in super quick by some of the friendliest hotel staff ever Got to the room and it was insanely clean! The bed is so comfy the pillows are not the flimsy ones that most hotels have when you look in this price range The furniture is modern and well kept

For the price this hotel is definitely a great choice and it’s clearly worth it even if it’s just for one night away from your normal hustle and bustle We will definitely be looking up this hotel chain for future travels!

The staff was friendly and helpful Please inspect your room to ensure it has been cleaned fully It was definitely lacking some professional cleaning in the room I stayed in

Dead bug on the ceiling, rust on fixtures, mold, stains, and build-up of dirt throughout the bathroom I even had used product in the bathroom; they weren’t even the same brand The bed was clean and comfortable I stayed here before, and it was nothing like what I expected based on my previous stay The lobby was Hilton’s standards, but the room wasn’t

Gifted

45 starsI would’ve given the Hilton Garden Inn Hampton five stars, but the bathroom was a little outdated The shower with the tub was extremely deep and hard for my older auntie to get in and out of

Other than that, the hotel staff were very courteous and complimentary The overall ambience of the Hilton Garden Inn was very warm and relaxing It’s very family friendly environment

Styles C

I enjoyed my stay overallI want to give a huge shout out to a young man working at the front desk who helped mitigate a challenge I was having with one of the staff members He was so patient and sweet to me and I also learned some things about myself to carry me forward in life, which is priceless! This young man was amazing! I wish I remembered his name! The only real con I experienced was that there was no parking available over the weekend which was very dangerous for a single woman coming in late from an event

I had to park my car illegally in the front in order to access the hotel, and was chastised by the worker about it, when there was clearly two other cars parked there too I mean this lady acted like she was Hilton herself but she allowed me to park there temporarily to get some sleep I have never been to a hotel that didn’t have any parking that was very disappointing and a turn off if you ask me

Stayed 2 nights in a suite Breakfast was very good, and I liked that they had disposable gloves for a sanitary way to get your food The front desk was extremely nice and informative

I left some jewelry in my room on accident and housekeeping was honest and turned it in the to manager who contacted me to return it to me Very happy with my experience and will stay here again

Erica Taylor

The General Manager harassed me I was laying on a couch in the lobby waiting for my coworkers and she came over to me and told me that the couch was for sitting and if I wanted to lay down, I could go to my room Like a toddler! It was absolutely ridiculous and she did not apologize

I assume she thought I was a teenager instead of a 35+ year old woman On a business trip! If I want to wait for my group I should be allowed to I was on the far side of the couch, not visible to incoming guests and I was tired after traveling but we were going to get food and come backAlso, I travelled with my pet and they put me on the 4th floor I can’t bring my dog in an elevator so I requested a room on the first floor I was informed I would have to pay a new pet deposit for a new room, despite the fact that the Pet Policy agreement stated that the pet deposit was for the STAY, not for the ROOMI will never stay here again and I will definitely be informing anyone who has to go to Fort Eustis that this is the last place to stay Never again!

Austin Beatty

The suites are great If you’ve ever stayed at a Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites, this was in line with that, very comfortable with the separate bedroom I didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, but it’s free

Lots of restaurants and stores nearby, and easy access to I-64 I’ll probably stay here if I ever need a hotel near Busch GardensMy only complaint is the wifi was kind of slow, slower than most other hotels, including other Hamptons For most of the time it worked okay, but for a short period of time it didn’t work at all for YouTube (when I tried again 30 minutes later it was okay) Maybe it was just a bad day for the ISP, I don’t know But in 2022 wifi is very important and can be a deal breaker, so hopefully they can keep it stable and fast

This is a nice place to stay at It was very clean and the bed was fairly comfortable My only complaint, and this is a big one for me, is that the water pressure in the bathroom shower head was so low that I couldn’t even rinse the shampoo from my hair

I had to get down on my hands and knees and use the spigot Not exactly ideal

Great little hotel for travelersCleanAnd the staffing is amazingGreat customer service and everyone is friendly and helpfulSomeone started smoking in the room next to mine at some point,But that’s about itThe fitness room is small but has free weights2 treadmills, an elliptical, one cycling machine and pulley multi-areas weight machine

I found a large cockroach crawling on the ceiling in the hallway Very disturbing! I managed to capture it in a bag to show the front desk attendant He was also shocked to see it

I told him how upsetting it would be if my wife and children saw it He offered to comp my stay for the night since there were no other rooms available in the area I accepted it

The staff is very helpful and courteous The establishment is very clean and organized They went above a beyond to give good service

We had our additional necessities in our room upon arrival that we ordered from the app We had gift bags for our children and a special note for us to welcome us to the hotel This was very sweet and professional I was impressed and felt welcomed as an ambassador member

vinoth buddy

The location was nice, the receptionist did a good job welcoming the guests The room was very comfy and where it falls short is the bathroom The hot water was not really hot or warm

The flush button was not working and we would had to manually open and lift the pusher arm to manually flush I have communicated the same but had to pay the whole price For the price we as a customer would need everything perfect I definitely would not recommend !!!

Monica Mitchell Dickens

There was nice decor in the lobby but the room set up was odd In one pic the couch is right next to the bed which was a challenge at night when you have to use the bathroom in the dark in the middle of the night Also the foam mattress and pillows need to be replaced

The fitted sheet did not fit so the sheet would come off the mattress showing the stains you see in the other pic There were also no hand towels to dry your hands but only provided 2 face clothesI may think twice and see which other hotels are available before choosing this location

The general area was clean…but there were empty beer bottles at the outside lounge area for the entire week I stayed One room from the party I was with wreaked of marijuana, forcing a move…another just smelled musty The TV in my room was bolted to the desk…and didn’t fully swivel toward the bed I’d recommend bypassing this place and trying the Marriott across the parking lot

This location can be easily seen from the road There is plenty of open FREE parking Handicap accessible

There is plenty of shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and movie theater nearby Just off I664 Staff is helpful, gracious, and friendly Breakfast is not included; however, I recommend local places to eat in or place an to go orders Door Dash is used in the area There is a gym and an inside poolWhat really impressed 👏 us was that the rooms were immaculate We used our black light on the carpet, bed, couch, and bathroom; there were no fluids The hotel gives you sanitizer wipes in your room, and there are sanitizer stations throughout the hotel

Gorgeous and stunning marina views from the balcony of my room were very much enjoyed during a three-night stay recently Whether it was a sunset or passing rainstorm I thoroughly enjoyed that element of my visit I had a routine of ordering room service and found the restaurant’s food quality and service to be great

I had a quiet night’s sleep in a comfy bed Professional and courteous front desk staff, which is always appreciated

I stayed here before I moved to the area The hotel and room were clean and well kept but not particularly noteworthy The view of the Pagan River was lovely though and the food at the restaurant is amazing

I also love that the hotel is connected to a bunch of small businesses where you can get some pretty unique gifts and souvenirs It is also across the street from an entrance to Windsor Castle Park, which has great trails, views, fishing, kayaking, and grassy areas to picnic

I stay here about 3-5 nights a year since 2017The rooms are always nice and cleanThis time I had a rather annoying experience

I paid extra ($25) for a late checkout at 1pmI wanted to catch some sleep after a Night Shift and before going to the airport to fly back home When I came back to the hotel I asked for confirmation of my late checkout just to be sure that they remembered to put that in since I paid for it and don’t want to be interruptedAt 11:25am, a loud boom ripped me out of my sleep It was a maintenance guy trying to open my door but got caught by the swing lock He said he wasn’t informedWhen I checked out I told the staff that that was exactly the reason why I reminded them of my late checkout that I paid for They smiled and said “we apologize for that”I would have liked a refund of the $25 since the whole situation defeated the purposeOh well, i will still continue to come here and it’s worth the 4 stars I’ll just bring a big glittery sticky note next time and stick it to the outside of my door so that it gets communicated to everyone that the guest in this room paid for a late checkoutThe restaurant is fantastic

I was not informed of the pool being closed until the night before checking in with no time to make other arrangements The digital key I requested was not activated and we were left standing in a 90 degree hallway attempting to open a door with a digital key that hadn’t been set up The reception desk apologized when they admitted they hadn’t completed the digital key setup

I was given a smoking room that had no ventilation, no opening windows or exhaust fans The room also shared a wall with the elevators So i was able to hear, quite clearly, every time the elevators were used The workout room was stifling hot as was the hallway outside my room The AC in my room was equally as uncomfortable as it was not quite enough cooling or arctic winds while operating The bathtub didn’t drain so my wife and I had to wash in shin deep water, turning the shower off so it wouldn’t overflow In the pork Capitol of the world, Smithfield Virginia you’d expect real sausage or bacon with the breakfast, but no it was all turkey based meat products Parking near any hotel entrance was virtually nonexistent and the limited spots were all occupied Because of this, my wife and I had to walk halfway around the building in the rain The amenities boasted of a coffee machine in every room so I brought my own, artisan coffee to brew But the coffee machine only accepted the hotels coffee packs in plastic trays A filter basket for brewing free grounds wasn’t available When I reported the poorly draining tub, the reply was “I’ll make sure our maintenance looks at that before the next guest” And when I requested a coffee machine to brew my own coffee, I was told “That’s not possible” At checkout, I reported all these issues It was met with raised eyebrows and an “I do apologize” No offer of a reduced price for my stay

Stayed at the Smithfield Hampton Inn for a wedding on Memorial Day weekend We were told we had to book for a minimum stay of 2 nights which was disappointing, but this was the only decent (seemed to be) hotel in the area Arrived to our room and the room seemed to be clean

My family and I showered and left for the wedding, returned back that evening and hopped in bed I felt something crawling on my arm, I was hoping it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be Unfortunately it was A BED BUG! A baby bed bug at that I jumped up and told my parents to check their bed, and there was an adult bed bug crawling up their comforter DISGUSTING! We called the front desk and the lady came up to our room and took a look at the bugs She offered to move our room and refund our money for the stay My parents stayed and moved rooms but I decided to pack my things and drive 4 hours back home I would never step foot in that hotel again We both filled out an incident report and was told someone from Hampton would be in touch with us within a week or two to check up on us Of course we haven’t heard a word from them VERY disappointing! I will never give Hampton or Hilton my business ever again

My family needed a room on short notice because we worked all day and came home to no running water due to construction workers cutting our water line We were made aware that there were only smoking rooms available, but given the short notice, I was okay accepting a smoking room However, we were placed in a room that looked like it had not been cleaned in some time, and it smelled like an ashtray

We could get over the smell, but the filth was like nothing I’ve ever seen, and our family travels frequently Dust covered the furniture, and it appeared that some white substance was splattered and dried all over the exterior of the refrigerator, bedside table, and headboards There were also visible handprints all over the headboards The desk was greasy, and the furniture was significantly stained The remote and the informational cards were both sticky I chose this hotel over the motel right down the street from my home and half the price because of the ratings, and I greatly regret it When I called the front desk to tell them about the room, they said they would send the manager, but the attendant arrived with a key for the room next door When I pointed out the dust, she replied, “that’s the part they don’t clean” I was utterly stunned at the response and the fact that the manager couldn’t be bothered to address the situation The new room smelled better and appeared somewhat cleaner, but after seeing the filth next door, I had to question the cleanliness of the new space My daughter and I ended up taking a shower and leaving because we were so uncomfortable and dissatisfied with the lack of response from management This place has tainted the Hilton name for us It was a God-awful experience
