What a wonderful stay! Kim and Jeff are amazing hosts Don’t be worried that it’s a little away from town Kim and Jeff are great about shooting in to pick you and drop you off in their pickup for dinner, biking in, etc

Definitely take up their offer to drive you up the hill if you aren’t a top notch biker Beautiful place, nice rooms Like much of Confluence, a train may be heard in the distance but not too bad at all They serve a HUGE breakfast

Stefano Negri

One of the kids in our party said it all: “This place is too cool, I do not want to leave!” And he is right! This lovely farm is the perfect reflection of Kim and Jeff – they are caring, friendly, amazing people They went out of their way to make our stay memorable while biking the GAP and helped in everything we needed Everything was easy, comfortable and interesting

If we ever come back in the Confluence area, we will be staying again And if not us, our kids for sure 🙂

jeremy garcia

Gracious hosts, excellent food, beautiful accommodations I can’t say enough about Kim and Jeff They are the warm and welcoming Aunt and Uncle that are living life to the fullest while maintaining kindness that shows in everything they do

Brought electric bikes and Jeff made sure we had proper storage and ample electricity to charge during downtime The trailhead to the GAP is about a mile away down a fairly steep hill and we were offered a ride should we need itKim was an amazing resource for everything from hiking trails to restaurants to good wine Utilized her multiple times for advice on lesser known resources in the areaThe b&b itself is situated in a stunning setting that my amateur phone photography does little to capture Surrounded by forests and alive with the sounds of a diverse farm, you feel removed from the complexities of busier locations Phone service is spotty at best but the wifi was more than adequate The building utilizes air conditioners which kept us plenty cool during downtime and the blue hemlock room had creature comforts and plenty of space to rest and recoverBreakfast was excellent each day and Jeff knows how to make a diverse and balanced dishYou can tell that Kim and Jeff are passionate about being good hosts and it made for an amazing experience

They need to fire the entire front desk team We were there for a wedding and not a single person in the bride/groom party had a good experience They gave my husband and me an occupied room

They then gave my brother in law OUR room twice and tried to make him pay twice They gave the bride and groom on their wedding night an occupied room TWICE! Another couple had a dirty room This establishment is an absolute embarrassment and I will tell anyone who will listen to NEVER consider staying at this resort I’ve traveled all over the world, and I have NEVER had a worse hotel experience We were never given an apology, a refund, or anything They were rude, blamed the guests for problems, and were extremely nasty to ALL the guests My in-laws had a condo and had to offer multiple people in the bridal party A BED TO SLEEP IN I’ve never felt more disrespected or unsafe in an establishment Worst hotel I’ve had the displeasure of staying at

Marisa Jackson

We were there for a dance convention and there was great organization on the way in for getting unloaded and getting checked in Kudos to the guys in the parking lot for keeping things running smoothly At check in, it was quick, but unremarkable and no one seemed happy at all, but there were no issues with their service

The sleeping rooms were extremely dated and all furniture chipped and extremely worn We visited a fee of the food outlets and for the most part, the service was fast and friendly We did visit the foggy goggle twice and the first time with a large group and the service was great, the second night the same group but smaller went back and the service was extremely delayed and all the staff was curt and rude Overall The experience wasn’t bad, but if you are looking for fast friendly service in an up to date property, I just don’t think I would choose this over other options

Mary Margaret Isabella

We had a large group as we go there every year (400-600 yearly) checkin was a nightmare as their computer system was not working right Lost several reservationsCould not use room charge, sloppiness only took credit card, no gift cards could be used Handicap room really not accessible and door from lobby with restaurant to hotel needed to have someone open for me

I travel alone and use a mobility scooter so it was hard

Cassie Bancroft

Really nice that this was directly off the highway Staff went out of their way to be helpful Rooms were clean and comfortable

Some minor cosmetic details and upgrades would be nice but this is the quality of service every Holiday Inn Express should strive for Breakfast was tasty and the dining area and lobby were clean This was an extremely pleasant experience during a long trip and the quality caught me by surprise!

Darrell Piatt

We were returning from a long road trip and needed a place to spend the night so we didn’t have a super-long dayHere’s the good – the room was decent and the bed was comfortable There was little noise from other rooms or the hallway, even though the hotel was pretty booked

The people at the desk were nice The hot breakfast was pretty good, although the scrambled eggs were a tad dry on topOn the negative side, the elevator broke the night we got there We were on the 3rd floor and needed to leave the next morning We also had brought a lot into the room and my wife isn’t the best at climbing steps We ran into several irritated staff who hinted that this was something that had occurred multiple times I felt bad for them having to do their job hauling things up and down the stairways, which also smelled pretty funky Other than that, the room lighting was pretty dim and there really needed to be another ceiling light to cover the overall area

Gary Meyer

Holiday Inn Express is typically a reliably clean and pleasant hotel experience – but not this establishment The building itself is showing it’s age: scuffed walls, dated interior, and “hotel” odorThe elevator was broken, so we had to carry everything up the stairs and were greeted with a diaper in the stairwell that was never picked up, and a former guest’s hairs left in our shower

Then, at breakfast, the pancake machine was to make the smallest pancakes that were so small that you’d need 10 to feed a grown manOn top of this, it was fairly pricy for the area at $168/night I hope this facility gets refreshed soon, but for now, go stay at the nearby Marriott

I’ve stayed at this location once in the past, and it seems like they’ve been working to update things The rooms were nice, though could use a few more outlets The people working there were very friendly and helpful

And the pool, well, it leaves something to be desired It is the smallest pool I have ever seen But, my kids played in it for a good hour or more so it still did it’s job! I definitely recommend this location

Tammy Lewis

Hotel needed ALOT of updates They must have tried to paint the walls because you could see the beginning of new paint Hotel had a bad smell on the 3rd floor

Someone was cooking the whole time I was there and it made the 3rd floor smell bad One guest in another room threw up in the hallway from the smell Carpets in room were dirty Only ice machine was on the 1st floor and while I used it the man at the front desk just stood and watched me I didn’t see a pool anywhere on the property When I asked the girl at the front desk about the pool her reply was what are you talking about we don’t have a pool

I can’t say enough great things about this hotel Not only were the staff amazing, especially the young girl working new years eve with long brown hair She was so sweet and helpful

Our room (209 a suite) was so clean and huge! It fit all 6 of us so comfortably We also enjoyed the pool so much Its great having a hot tub next to the pool so we could relax in it while the kids were swimming! The lobby is so beautiful! The breakfast is delicious and so much to choose from!

Natalie Gerrick

We stayed here while in the area for a small family vacation and can’t say enough nice things about this hotel Everything was great — we enjoyed the lodge theme and our children loved the animals in the lobby! Staff was friendly and accommodating, room was spacious and clean, pool and hot tub were nice, and there was a great selection for breakfast and everything was delicious! We’ll be definitely be staying here in the future if we’re in the area

Bas Debbink

This was an unexpected find On a road trip this was close to our first stop and was able to book this pretty last minute It is conveniently located right off of I76 but far away enough not to be bothered by the noise

The lobby has a Twin Peaks kind of feel to it, and fits perfectly for the location Staff was friendly, and the breakfast deserves a special mention Mostly pretty standard hotel breakfast fare with some additional options, but everything was just slightly better than what you’d expect to find, with more than enough choices for everyone The rooms were very spacious and comfortable

This was a great hotel stay! The staff is incredibly helpful and the place is clean and quiet Even though it was going through current updating, I was never bothered by excess noise or issuesBreakfast is amazing

The beds are SO comfortable!!

Kate Altman

The staff was excellent The room was nice, but the without curtains or carpet, it was actually kind of loud Also the hallway/lobby was very loud late at night

Thursday night was ok, but Friday and Saturday nights there were large groups in the dining area and kids running down the halls, both making a lot of noise until 11:30 or 12:00 at night Between that and the renovation work starting at 8:00 am during the week, it made it hard to get any rest

Lynette White

This Hampton has just had it’s interior totally remodeled It is like a new hotel The rooms are very clean and cozy

Beds are comfortable and towels are very soft The breakfast was very very good with lots of options of things to eat Included cheese omelets, diced potatoes with peppers and onions, and maple eckrich type sausage The staff was very friendly and helpful I stay at hotels alot and at different chains This is at the top of the list for best hotel and breakfast Best Hampton I have been in You won’t be dissappointed

It was comfortable and clean, although had signs of age and use They had a smart TV that I could cast my phone to and watch my shows on The pool was warm and relaxing

We ate at the restaurant Service was nice but slow, even though not many people were being served My fries were overcooked, but the burger was delicious

Lee Silverman

Most staff were willing to listen to concerns, but not one member of staff or management over a weekend stay seemed to have authority to do more than give extra towels Service was very spotty Rooms had bad odor, but our three room party could not be relocated

Promised consideration in room fee, but no one had authority to make the change Hotel restaurant had very nice service and very good dinner, with good selection and tasty, but the breakfast was awful Housekeeping was very vocal about not cleaning rooms, and then did not Elevator got stuck with family in it Management showed no concern

Too many B&B’s today are not true Bed and Breakfasts Many do not still offer home cooked breakfast or little amenities like snacks or treats in the afternoon My wife and I were very happy to see that Hartzell House still adheres to what we consider a “classic” bed and breakfast format

Our hosts/owners Robert and Melinda were gracious and friendly and put us at ease immediately The breakfasts were amazing and the room was everything we’d hoped for I cannot recommend them highly enough If you’re planning a trip to western PA, you must stop in and see for yourselves

Jamie Douglas

Robert and Mellisa made our two stays at Hartzell House the MOST memorable bed & breakfast experience we have ever experienced This year being our 50 wedding anniversary a warm and loving stay

There was no bar soap but there was soap gel which is a kind of soap It is better for the environment Yes it is good for the environment The bed will really comfortable and my mom accidentally to the wrong bed for me cuz my bed was the tallest and I had to use the sheet because it was too warm and then well done

Fantastic place right on the river! My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in one of the rooms The property was beautifully kept, the rooms were very comfortable and the hosts were very personable and did everything to make everyone comfortable Hanging out by the fire pit under the full moon was just magical

I usually don’t love cold continental breakfasts over cooked ones, but their ”covid Continental” was the best I’d ever had The only thing I wished was that the room was a little bit warmer – I’m used to the southwestern temperatures and needed the heavy blanket, but otherwise the rooms were delightfully, as was the rest of the experience of staying there!

Louella Pizzuti

Every step of the way this was a fabulous experience Easy reservations, perfect directions (even for someone who always makes wrong turns), and then such a lovely lovely time The grounds are gorgeous — fine attention to everything without making it feel artificial like a golf course, the house felt like home but without all the to-do things I never get to, and Dan and Robin are both magnificent hosts

I’m barely gone and I already want to go back

We stayed here on our bike trip along the GAP trail Really fun and interesting building and our room was exactly what we needed Easy to access bike storage on the ground floor

We enjoyed some refreshing beverages and dinner at the pub with fantastic service from Dawn (who volunteered to help over the weekend)! The day we were there was day two of the restaurant’s opening The staffing and organization needs a bit more polish We witnessed several kinks that will certainly get worked out Would definitely stay here again and give the restaurant another try too

Nelson Myers

Went to the Maple Festival, the townspeople put on an original play with 21 original songs about the history of Meyersdale and maple sugaring A true piece of Americana at its finest The festival is great, the play is a must see

America at it’s best! The owners of Morguen Tool Co donate the use of their facility for the play Excellent!

Monica Stoddard

Interesting place to stay off the GAP trail The room itself was nice and it’s super easy to get in the building with the code In the off-season, the restaurant is closed and there is nobody around so it feels a little empty and eery

We read it was a former mortuary but some other people we met didn’t know and freaked out Easy access to the garage to store our bicycles

My son and I had never been skiing before and wanted to try it out Hidden valley seemed to be a good place to start I was very intimidated at first, but from check-in, to getting our rental equipment, to taking lessons, to enjoying the rest of our day, everyone was immensely helpful

Bob was a fantastic instructor – thorough, patient, knowledgeable, and friendly We started on the beginner hill but soon felt more comfortable moving on to some of the other (easier) trails Given our current skill level, Hidden Valley was exactly what we needed I think we are hooked! Overall, we had a great experience

Love coming here due to the chill vibe and great customer service Staff is wonderful, helpful, and very friendlyIt’s not the most challenging mountain, but great when you want a more relaxing day

Great place for families, especially with smaller kids It doesn’t have the crazy party vibe items bigger sister 7 Springs has

Lawrence Of Arabia

Had a great evening with my two girls on a Friday night We did the evening session from 4pm to 9pm Very family oriented with no issues whatsoever

Everyone is normal Everyone is friendly They have a lodge, a restaurant and a bad and ski shop right on the premises just yards away from the slopes They have hotel rooms that get sold out on the weekends when in season I highly recommend this place Btw, their hot chocolate for 2 dollars is just about the best deal you can get at their bar
