My niece and I spent three nights here in the ‘Melody’s Mooring’ room It was a lovely room with beautiful views and a private balcony The air conditioner was set at a nice cool temperature throughout the inn which is very important to me

The bed was more comfortable than any I’ve ever slept on Also, it’s in a great location The manager, Debi, displays a thin veneer of politeness We witnessed a couple (who were about 10 minutes late for breakfast) walk out before their meal was served because of a rude comment she made to them I overheard her telling someone “I’m not worried about it” I would definitely come back, but be forewarned … Debi runs this inn and she means business!

Sarah Rooks

My husband and I recently spent the first night of our honeymoon here, and we are so glad we did Debi, the manager and owner, had the room in perfect order when we arrived and even had a bottle of champagne for us (which was so sweet of her and shows what a great hostess she is) The room was incredibly comfortable and perfect for a romantic evening

Breakfast the next day was fantastic as well, and the whole check-in/check-out process was a breeze My husband and I have already decided that we want to stay here again soon

Zoila Hartsoe

If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is for you My husband and I went for his birthday and we enjoyed the Inn Upon arrival we were greeted by Debi who pretty much does it all

We were able to check in early We were directed to our room and also told to look over some information on the desk inside the room The code to the main door and the gate, were provided along with a map and a visitors guideIn the evening hours the Inn is peaceful, there is very few guest and the only time we saw them was in the morning at breakfastThe best part is there were no kids just adults which was niceThe breakfast was pretty good The potatoes were good as well and the bacon was perfectThe best part was the breakfast nook The area is surrounded by windows so one is able to enjoy the birds on the bird feeders The coffee needs a lot of improvement The first day I had crepes which were also very good however, with a hair cooked into the batter it was disgusting Debi was nice enough and made anotherMy husband ordered the pecan waffle and they were very dry Just don’t go there They are not worth itA bit about Debi, she comes across as rude and seems rushed but, understand she does do it all Debi did tell us that “a chef” is there in morning to help prepare breakfast, however the hair in my crepe was a white long hairAfter the second day at the Inn I really think Debi warmed up to usI am the type of person that likes to be left alone Just tell me where everything is and I am goodWe did run out of toilet paper and when we asked Debi she said there was some in the second restroom Yes, there was however we needed it for the master bathroom The room is not cleaned throughout the stay which I was ok with There is a towel warmer in the master bedroom which we really loved I did set the trash outside the door and it was always replaced with a new bagOverall our experience was great!!!!We may stay here again

Such opulence and decadence! Beautifully manicured landscaping and the structures are maintained well Plenty of old-growth trees and mature foliage make it seem much older than <100 years It could truly be it's own, closed-off community

It has everything you need and more The only odd thing I noticed was that, aside from staff and a handful of guests, everyone was whiteI still had a lovely second visit here- the food/service was great, no doubt to the Food and Beverage Mgrs and staff

Steve

We played golf at the plantation course $310 for the round Point of this review is to say you’re paying for the resort, not the course

Playing the course is worth $150 $310 is crazy overpriced for the golf experience Nothing super special about it However, the practice facility and mens locker room and setting on the water are great

We were in town for the weekend and we sure wish we could have stayed longer at this cool little place The staff was super friendly, there was plenty of parking and the location was central to most of the great places to eat and go Mike in the pub was very personable engaging everyone that came in

The breakfast had a little bit for everyone and the idea of premeasured waffle mix was perfect The room was very clean, we liked the bathrobes in the bathroom and the table and chairs on the balcony was just right to have coffee in the morning We will definitely becoming back to the Village Inn when we come back to town

Jessi Knoof

This was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the laid back, southern hospitality of SSI The room was so comfortable and clean, we wanted to stay longer! The pub was awesome, and Mike made us feel like family The bathrobes in the rooms are basically a trap

once you put it on and lounge around feeling like royalty, there’s no way you can check out without purchasing one to take home! We will definitely be back again for a longer stay!

10/10 will be coming back in the near future, my boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel about a week ago and you couldn’t have asked for a better place I felt like I was home The staff was super friendly

The night manager was extremely friendly and bubbly The room it’s self was beautiful I felt completely comfortable I loved being sooo close to the beachLike I said 10/10 we will definitely be coming back😁😁

David Walton

I stayed at the Westin Jekyll on two occasions over the last few months and I really love this property It’s located in the most ideal area, close to shopping, restaurants and island amenities The hotel has a top notch restaurant (the Reserve), a spacious pool bar where you can order drinks and various bar food, and enjoy the attentive and fun staff (Elijah and Addison)

Overall there seems to be plenty of space for the guest as it never felt overrun or crowded Go here to relax, recharge, enjoy the beach and walking paths

Lauren Aikens

This is my third time staying here and I understand there are staffing shortages, but I wouldn’t waste your time or money staying here because the price is just not worth it The cafe was closed which would have ben nice had the hotel put multiple signs up after giving us vouchers to the cafe Now they are under some construction that is directly above our room this morning

Seems as though they would have put us in a room away from the construction, but I guess not Honestly I don’t like this hotel, but my mother would prefer to stay here, but this is our last time staying here Also, for such a nice place they really could upgrade their gym as well

I have stayed at plenty of higher end hotels and I can honestly say that I have NEVER been to one where every single worker from the front desk to housekeeping was super kind The place is keep immaculate! The breakfast area is nice with plenty of options to eat and drink and kept super clean by the lady who runs the kitchen Even looking into the kitchen from the dining area, was immaculate

The hotel room was nice, updated, and clean The pool area is beautiful I cannot recommend this hotel enough Book it! You will not regret it

Shanelle Reuss

(Coming back to visit again in 2 days and I’m very excited)This location is very quiet and peaceful!! The rooms were clean, besides someone’s dirty boxers left in a closet area, which I’m sure was an honest mistake because they were kinda hiding in there! Everything else was clean I threw them away and went on about my amazing stay & would give them 10 stars still, just because of the wonderful costumer service Thestaff here are so wonderful and accommodating! I forget the ladies name that checked us in but she was the sweetest lady, she told us if we needed anything to ask and anything we needed she was indeed ON IT

Everyone I’ve spoken too here has amazing hospitality Even just over the phone with questions, they are so nice!! Kindness goes a long way, and can really make or break a vacation I appreciate the good energy Would recommend this place to anyone! I’m hoping this next stay is just as good as the last ❤️❤️

Had booked a weekend stay for 4/15-4/17 on 3/27 Unfortunately, my trip was cancelled on 4/3 and cancelled my reservation well in advance of my stay and their posted 4 day cancellation policy Luckily I checked my credit card statement and noticed that I had not received a credit

Called, no answer, and initiated a chargeback Have stayed in the past and everything was great, but extremely unimpressed by the lack of integrity in failing to issue a credit for a cancellation well in advance of the stay

I really enjoyed my 5 day stay The room was very clean and modern The water pressure was great, the TV was nice sized and the location is nice

I will say the TV is not a smart TV and the volume stops at 8 (won’t go any lower unless you mute) It is a little strange that it doesn’t have its own drive way You have to go turn into an auto place to get to the hotel We passed it up the 1st time I used the mini gym while I was here and it had all I needed The pool area is lovely The complementary breakfast is fair This location offers cookies around check-in time and always has coffee, hot tea (variety of tea bags) and hot chocolate (packets) available and free all day/night I thought that was a nice touch I definitely recommend staying here

Margo Williams

Rooms was nice Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff was very niceFront desk not very friendly

Not welcoming at check in We needed utensils because the delivery company didn’t bring any with our delivered food Front desk girl gave us wooden stir sticks saying that’s all they had but we knew otherwise as they have a full breakfast bar every morningThe lights went out for hours early in the night No communication from the desk of what happened or the estimated time they would go on No offer of compensation

For an older hotel it was nice and clean, the rooms have been updated We did have to change rooms because our first room had an issue with outlets not working The staff was friendly and accommodating

My only complaint is the “continental breakfast” is only coffee, honey buns, granola bars and bags of chips would have loved to seen a choice of oatmeal and fruit tooOver all our stay was very pleasant and would stay here again

chatting with us, making sure we had everything we need, even making up a lil cheese and nut tray for the kids after the kitchen closed Really appreciated that they (without our even asking) allowed kids to use up their time session in the Top Golf suite even though it extend beyond closing time So nice On top of that bardrinks and breakfast were wonderful We will be back

Stayed at Ocean 6/3 – 6/7 Owner/Management has just changed hands, so hoping for some nice updates, as neededOur experience was very positive, from front desk staff, to GM Rob, to housekeeping, to room

Room was quite comfortable, right temps, marble/granite bathroom, great shower, and best view from our room/deck Pool was open and refreshing, as needed Inn is very, very close to everything, which is great Right across from fabulous lighthouse Located in great neighborhood for walks and beach access

Kristin Collins

Room was ok Front staff were great! Very sweet man and woman working the front desk Sadly this hotel offered no breakfast, the pool was closed and property did not even have a smoking section outside or anywhere on the property

You had to leave your room, go outside and go sit in the dark across the street to smoke Being able to at least use the pool or sit around the closed pool would have been a nice option as well You’re really just paying a premium price for a bed to sleep in Lastly, the whole city smelled of feces Seems we were the only ones that noticed Was told it was a nearby paper plant Definitely don’t recommend St Simon’s Island if you have a sensitive nose or stomach

Katia Robinowicz

I really loved this hotel It was cozy, charming and somewhat romantic The staff was amazingly helpful

The whole place had an old Georgia feel, but was very cleanMy only complaint was the water pressure in my room Despite that, I still had a decent showerI liked that I could walk to the pier and shopping I was right across from the lighthouse and the shoreParking was greatNo trafficI recommend it and Id stay here again if i ever come back

This hotel needs serious updating & repairs! We were lucky if we could get the water to lukewarm We tried at different times of day thinking it might be just overloaded The refrigerator makes way too much noise

The TV was very outdated The pixels were way too low so the picture was very unclear Hardly no channels and no guide on the remote or in the room so it was difficult to find anything Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful

G Gayle

Bathtub not properly cleaned and had grime/mildew all over it, the second room I was moved to the whole toilet was not secured to the floor and rocked, was dirty on the seat, multiple hairs on shower seat, grime/mold in bathtub and on shower head The room was in dire need of repair and the tv although big horrible picture quality would not pay more than $40/night for this hotel

Lady at desk on 4/22/22 in evening was very rude and said go to store down the road to get bleach wipes to clean the room and the housekeeper didn’t clean well enough were her words would not stay here again, they wouldn’t give me a refund or move me to a clean/non damaged room definitely do not stay with children!

Stephanie Hill

I’ll start with the good Friendly clerk at counter when we checked in We had plenty of hot water and water pressure and the bed was comfortable

Now the not so good Weird, musty smell was very overpowering as soon as we walked in to the room and EVERYTHING felt damp from the towels to the bedding and carpet Turned on the light in the bathroom and saw a roach scurry into theshower curtain I would not recommend

Very convenient location Friendly staffNice comfy clean beds

Clean bathrooms Only reason we didn’t give it five stars is we noticed the housekeeping should have noticed dirt collecting at the base of the bedNice that they allow dogs Very hard to find hotels that allow pets these days This however is likely from the few owners that don’t bother to pick up after their dogsWill definitely stay again

Caelan Nesbitt

This hotel was a wonderful stop on our trip to Florida They even have an AARP discount of about 10% The mattress was wonderfully comfortable and the sheets were clean and had no stains or cigarette burns

I had accidentally booked a king bed instead of two beds but the receptionist was extremely friendly and understanding and booked us into the other room and made sure to apply my discount The breakfast was amazing The waffles were great and there was plenty more to enjoy I even took a dip in the clean and clear pool which was open 24/7

We were greeted by Queyonna She what’s very pleasant and helpful She recommended where we could go have dinner

And made us feel very comfortable The rooms were nice and clean There is construction going across the hotel You can tell a lot of new things are coming in the near future I would definitely recommend to stay We will be back again

Just an outstanding place with the best hotel staff I’ve ever met Ms Win, Patrick, Kayla, Will and the housekeeping manager (didn’t catch her name but she was so good to me) just went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible

I fell sick during my stay and they were all so nice to me, Ms Win was an angel and put a little care package on my door St Simons is a beautiful island and this is a great hotel with real Southern hospitality, a rare gem Thank you for making my stay so special

Peter Bradshaw

I’ve stayed here twice, totaling two weeks The staff could not be friendlier, housekeeping or front deskRooms were clean and well stocked with dishes upon my arrival both visits

The fire pit and pool areas offer great views (pool especially if you are an aviation lover as I am)My reason for four stars over five is during my second stay I requested one visit from housekeeping When they cleaned the room, they left puddles of brown water in the bathroom The whole room smelled horrid I cleaned it up myself with one of the provided towels After that, the floor was still sticky but at least it didn’t smell badI would stay here again But I would for sure bring up my problems with house keeping before requesting it

Anthony Ursillo

The hotel did not allow for a contact-less check in which is the only reason I installed the App That meant I had to get my family back in the car, drive around the building, and wait in line to check inIf you are staying and hope to use the pool – don’t plan on it

The pool is RIGHT next to jets taking off the runway and the noise is unbearable at times Scared my little girl enough to not want to use the pool anymoreBreakfast was okay but it would be nice if they varied it somewhat day by dayI don’t understand why the bathroom has a sliding door that doesn’t close all the way Who doesn’t understand the need for privacy in the bathroom?

In my mind that’s a huge downgrade I still rate this a 45 star experience and a 35 star hotel The location is Not waterfront but very very prime I fear the new owners will drive the hotel quality into the ground

Hotel Simone is working to be high end (in a casual southern Georgia way) and for the most part they pull it off In addition to the many positives mentioned by others, the check-in experience provided by Vonquez was over the top

enthusiastic, helpful, efficient But all staff we encountered were top notch Free or discounted access to King & Prince amenities was a nice bonus

Overall, the location is hard to beat Spending $1700 on a room (Oglethorpe) for 5 nights, I expected better Upon arrival, we had to immediately switch rooms because the first was so moldy and stinky that it was unbearable

Thankfully they switched us to another room that didn’t smell, but it too had mold We found stains on the walls, skittles in the sheets Cleaning service (only trash and towels) was hard to get consistently Sometimes they only brought new towels and didn’t take the old, etc The pool area is nice, though only one of the pools is heated (not the kid pool) The drinks are insanely expensive I recommend you go to the liquor store down the block for 5x less in price The restaurant was a great location right on the water, but nothing to write home about The gym is small and also stunk horribly All in all, for as much as we paid, I expected a lot better I imagine that there are better places on the island to staySee attached photo of the ottoman in our room This is just an example of how gross the room was

This was a 75th birthday trip for my hubby The resort itself is amazing with multiple choices in accommodations We stayed in an ocean front villa

Although very nice, it was dated Carpet, appliance and furnishings are in need of an upgrade The staff were all 1st rate providing recommendations when requested and overall friendly and professional You can’t beat the beach, pool area and other amenities The King and Prince is definitely on our return list

Unfortunately this time was not good We were incredibly disappointed, as we’ve been many times and this wasn’t even close to the past The rooms (two sets Oceanfront Villa and Two Bedroom Condo) had issues

Everything from refrigerator, bugs, TV, cleanliness etc The price for what you get is very sad Almost 15k for almost a week with one functional restaurant on life support, no amenities as the spa is permanently closed, no chairs unless you spend 40 a day and each drink was 1500 We love the location and in all fairness they are trying some, but really need to train their staff better as cleanliness is a basic thing If you can’t offer amenities then just reduce your price and the expectations won’t be so high We won’t be back unless some things improve overall I hope they do work to get better as this used to be an incredible property that has truly gone down hill

The staff was very friendly Room was very nice overlooking Marsh Location was great

However you need to watch billing practices We stayed in February and I was billed twice Had to have it removed and they were great about it But in April I was billed again!! And I didn’t stay there at all at this time!! Kind of ridiculous that they couldn’t seem to get the billing right?!!

Jada Webb

There was loud construction! They did not have information on the website about any construction We were on the 1st floor and could here every step the people upstairs took There were children running back and forth constantly

It sounded like an herd of elephants We asked to be moved and the front desk said they were booked A quick search on the website determined that was untrue No housekeeping services We stayed three nights no fresh towels offered, when we requested 4 towels we were given 3 I would not recommend this place to an enemy

Incredibly spacious suite with two bathrooms, massive balcony, close to beach, and easy walk to restaurants and shops As other reviewers have mentioned, the property is need in maintenance When we arrived, the elevator was out of service

Looking in past reviews this is a frequent occurrence The rooftop lounge was not open on Friday due to a broken pipe On the upside, the price for the room is reasonable, especially when compared to the properties near by

Carolyn Morales

Other reviews have said that updates could be done That’s true, but it’s still pretty amazing Though for the price

They weren’t ready for the check-in, the AC in the bedroom wasn’t working, and we never did figure out the tvHOWEVER, the tub is amazing, there were two bathrooms (!!), And the bed was amazingly comfortable We walked a half mile to a craft Fair at the pier, and walked the other way to Barrier Island Brewing Perfect locationProbably look for a cheaper place next time

Olga Curnen

First of all the front desk folks and the manager are amazing! Super welcoming and helpful They had elevator break this week and us being on the 4th floor was quite challenging But not much you can do

And they were very helpful!Few things to note It’s under a new management so I’m sure things will get better But the floors inside needs to be cleaned more, our feet were dirty just walking inside bare-feet It’s not a first line hotel and there is no pool!! And no breakfast serviceOtherwise it’s great, not sure I will count it as a 4 star

I was recently there for a training conference and thought the place was beautiful and the staff was always very pleasant and accommodating They served plenty of good hot food and cold beverages buffet style with a huge dining room overlooking the water with lovely music playing on the piano in there The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable and the showers were always hot and came out of the shower head nice and strong, but not so strong it rips your skin off! The room’s mini fridge was super tiny, though, so keep that in mind when planning your stay

They had plenty of rooms for meetings and trainings and a great place for large group meetings where they will even bring in more food so you don’t have to go to the dining hall and you can have an eating meetingKeep in mind, this place often requires a great deal of walking with not a lot of parking However having recently had foot surgery, the staff was able to offer me several different options for getting around easier They offered a wheelchair and since I don’t have the upper body strength for that, they even arranged to have the maintenance man pick me up and deliver me to my next meeting on a golf cart That was above and beyond helpful for me! I truly appreciate that kind of service! The only negative part of my 4-day stay was that the majority of our meetings had to be moved to different rooms with more space at the last minute and we spent a lot of time and energy running back and forth from building to building which was very difficult for me personally, but somewhat understandable with such a very large group and so many different training options to choose fromOverall the trip was great and it is a beautiful place on the water with moss hanging from the old trees and church bells ringing out the hour and ringing snippets from classic hymns floating through the air A very peaceful environment I would absolutely do it again and recommend it to a friend

brogabe

I’ve stayed at Epworth By the Sea on several occasions over the years I have been pleased for the most part The last stay, however, I wasn’t pleased

The room I stayed in had bugs Lots of them If my wife had been with me she would not have stayedThe food in the dining hall is good The grounds are beautiful as are the views It’s a good place to relax and reflect

Ahna Phillips

I was in the lobby when the person with the moldy room came in to request a new room The staff was rude; she did not acknowledge even the remote possibility mold could be present The staff person snipped at the older lady insisting that because there was no carpet anywhere in the room these was no possibility mold could be present

I watched as her husband had an asthma attack in the parking lot The staff member showed no concern for the husband’s medical problem when trying to find new accommodations Her husband was an older gentleman who could have died easily in the parking lot The staff member remained unconcerned about the health risks of guests It is a beautiful facility; but if your staff does not even care about the health and welfare of guests it diminishes the overall experience All the female wanted was for the staff to say “I’m sorry” Instead the staff was yelling “I’m going out of my way to accommodate you; there are no rooms available on the premises” I thought it was deliberate and intentional that the female and her husband were placed in an unrenovated room

Had a great stay here I came at the end of January and it was like I had the place to myself very quiet and peaceful Soaked in the hot tub for a bit then hit up a local spot down the street for a bite to eat

My room was clean and the gentleman at the front desk was friendly Just a side note the pool area Is beautiful and looks very accommodating with a small bar area beside of it and right off the beach I’m sure if your looking to make a good time happen you could do it here

Crystal Vernon

Great view Friendly staff Pet friendly

Clean beach Clean rooms Loved the fire pits and walking trails We did not use them but seemed to have a nice playground and poolWhy not a 5? Walkway to the room had water spots, spills, etc that remained throughout our entire 5 day stay Housekeeping kept bringing supplies for 3 guests when we booked room for 4 Hotel breakfast was simple fruit, cereal, muffins, etc that would typically be included in the most basic continental breakfast High price tag for this minimal option Employees took parking spots closest to guest rooms Very loud old style wall AC/Heat units that left me going from freezing to sweating within secondsThat being said I would definitely go there again as the price for oceanfront location was unbeatable

AMAZING STAY! My husband and I and our 90 year old mom were so fortunate to enjoy an extended stay at this amazing resort, and we were so well cared for by the entire staff We honestly felt like it was our home, and they were our family We really would not want to stay anywhere else on the island other than the Holiday Inn Resort

Everything about it was perfect If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! It was also a priceless gift for our 90 year old mom After 2 years of being shut in due to the pandemic, She was very apprehensive about taking the long trip But 15 minutes after she arrived in her room she reported she had arrived in paradise! She got outside each day and walked along the resort paths, and enjoyed sitting on the Adirondack chairs and watching the people and bikers go by It was like she was 10 years younger when she leftAs for the staff, we can’t thank them all enough and let them know that their very hard work makes a big difference in the lives of others! I was in the hotel business for many years, and I understand first hand that is’ grueling hard work, and sometimes (many times) guests remember to complain, but do not remember to say THANK YOU!!!! So please know that you are indeed very appreciated!!!!!

Location, Location, LocationPro: This place is so close by and convenient to everything that you want to do in St Simons The Pool area is really nice to hang out at and the fire pit is really nice to sit around at the end of the evening

Con: The room was missing a lot! Our room was a (Queen room) we had 3 chairs in it which was not needed at all One chair was a nice cushy sitting chair while the other two were what was like a kitchenette chairs The one cushy chair of been fine and another table top in place of the two plastic chairs in there would of been so much better for us to put our stuff on top it to get it off the floor There needs to be way more hooks, towel hooks in the bathrooms in order to hang and dry and our towels and to hang a make up bag or toiletry bag There is no behind the toilet shelves and only a small sink so getting ready ( as a woman ) with make up, skin care and hair products made it extremely difficult A lot of my stuff was on my floor and to use I had to bend over to grab what I need The AC wall unit in our roomRoom 18 was so loud it made sleeping very difficult I don’t think we got a good nights sleep at all It would turn on and off all night and it was so loud The wall unit needed to be higher up in the room not at eye level The AC was very annoying and disrupted I think if there was another desk like table placed in the room and an over the toilet shelf and more towel hooks or towel rails it would of been a lot better and a lot more comfortableWe did have a great time and as mentioned above the Location was GREAT!!Thanks

Matthew Davison

The cleaning crew were friendly and helpful the rooms were well landlord painted heavily with some mold in the shower There was no kitchenette in the room only a microwave and Krueger and a mini fridge

It is right across the street from a popular spot on the island and well if you don’t like beaches this is your island the pool was nice and the exterior feel was decent just the inside of it was my only real issue

Kim Mason

Been here twice in the last 3 months and stayed in same room 15 Floor is filthy! Not sure if product or not cleaning 5 mins and granddaughter’s feet were black

Don’t walk on floor barefoot Let them know in April and still like that this past week Otherwise no complaints Hopefully they fix this issue Reported it to front office person Otherwise 5 stars!!!!
