The property seems to be well managed, and staff were kind Beds and towels were clean, which is the most important thing in my opinion Downside is that the hotel is quite old, and it kinda smells old in the room

AC looks very old and smells when turned on It should be upgraded for better cusomer experience There is a highway right next to the hotel, so if you are sensitive to noise, maybe you want to find another hotel

When you have a disability it’s not like you can book any room at any hotel We picked Fairfield because our stays have always been excellent, except for this one trip to Tulare, CA We drove a five hour trip only to find out that the accessible room we booked and requested in advance was not available, but they have an accessible room with a tub

It’s a bit different transferring to a tub with a bench from a roll in shower to a bench when you’re on a wheelchair and cannot walk The front desk staff told us there would be a price difference if we were to get a double queen with a roll in shower If the person I spoke to a few days prior had mentioned this to me that there won’t be any available room that fits our needs, I would happily cancel and find a place elsewhere and not get asked if I want to accept the room they booked for us What do they expect us to do after driving several hours? Find another hotel last minute? Other hotels in the past has always managed to work around this issue, why couldn’t this one work it out?

This hotel is perfect for families The two pools are amazing The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and spacious

Shout out to Henri in laundry because the sheets and towels were so clean that I asked the front desk who does the laundry I wish I could get my laundry that clean Any tips Henri? Another shout out to Beatriz because I found out she works in HR and I do too It’s not an easy job, but the staff at this hotel is happy! Nice work! Lastly, the breakfast was amazing and the restaurant busy I heard that Benito is the dishwasher Dishwashers never get enough thanks, so cheers to Benito

Lin Aldrich

Good stuff: fun bar/lounge, lots of parking, seems secure, quiet Bed super comfyNot so great: water never became hot, AC never really was cold, so a fan ran the entire time, missing complimentary items in our room, no complimentary breakfast, but there is a Cafe downstairsTrue bummer: a $100

Pending credit charge when checking in, due to the management company Was told could take up 5-20 days till removedNot everyone can afford to have that $$ hanging over their heads for that long

Staff was very nice, and the breakfast was good However, the walls in this building are very thin Our neighbors next door had guests over with their TV and music cranked up well past midnight

Calling the front desk did not fix the issue, (although the ear plugs they gave me helped) and they were not able to move us to a different room Won’t be back as I had terrible sleep here

Kim Jostad

Front desk was great but the cleanliness of this hotel was awful The room felt so dirty The couch had stains on it

I requested a flat sheet which I placed over the couch before we would sit on itI was excited because we had laminate flooring in our room and thought that would be easy to clean Often carpets seem gross The floors were horrible They looked so dirty You can see spots all over that needed to be wiped up I took a disinfectant wipe and rubbed on the laminate floor and the wipe was blackI did this in a couple different places in the room and anytime I wipe the floor it was black there was dust on the furniture The microwave had dry food in it There were crumbs and hair in the corners in the bathroom and against the wall in the room I would never stay there againI took several photos and if there was a place to post on here I would post them

Robert Hunter

Not a bad hotel but not great either It does have a good location to the highway and many fast food eateries They are older looking rooms, even with fresh paint they still had mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and drywall looked like it was getting ready to come off

We had a dog with us so you only get a bottom floor room The neighboring rooms were very loud Seems like no insulation in the joining walls The people above us sounded like a herd of animals Talked to the employees and said they could move us until I reminded them we had a dog Then they said sorry, can’t move youThe breakfast is ok Nothing great but did fill your belly to start the day I probably would not stay there again

Loved everything about The Darling Hotel in Visalia! It has beautiful rooms that were well appointed with lots of little unexpected touches From the moment we drove up to the moment we checked out we were impressed Staff was very friendly and helpful

We were exhausted from our travels and asked if we could check out a bit late and they were very nice about it We appreciated the extra sleep! Great location if planning to visit Sequoia and King’s Canyon

Jeremy & Lupe

Well if you are planning a special day here, forget about making a reservation We tried making a reservation 1 year in advance We called and spoke with Tyler multiple times and she stated that they were not allowing bookings because of Valentines Day even though our date was the week after Valentines Day

Come to find out, they decided to hold the reservation for the World Ag Expo Rooms were never available online and they were simply saved for big money$$$! Sucks because we wanted to have our wedding day here 🙁 Thanks Tyler for being deceitful to us on our special day!

I checked in the room was 85 degrees, I tried to reduce the heat in the room and the thermostat wouldn’t work I went down to the desk and let the young man know and all he said was he would inform maintenance Only 1 window would open, not much

The coolest the room ever gotcwas 77 In the morning I expressed the same issue with the morning staff and I receive the same response from them I wasn’t offered a different room from night staff nor a discounted cost from the morning staff Miserable for sure And the day was 92 So no relief

Alisa S.

The hotel itself is fine It’s right in downtown area Super close to everything you can do here

Staff were friendly Rooms are nothing out of ordinary Yes, it’s bit outdated, bit of worn out You can definitely see its history But the price is also the cheapest nearby The gate going into the park space is broken Us and our friends and other people we ran into all had problems using our keycards to go in On the other side of the garage, there’s an exit doesn’t require anything to go in and out So the keycard gate doesn’t really make any security sense To our surprise, there’s free breakfast All your normal complimentary breakfast stuff, coffee, milk, cereal, make your own waffles, oatmeal, bacon, eggs, biscuits, some bakery stuff, yogurt The staff working at the breakfast room is very compassionate and attentive

Robin Clayton

I stayed at the Comfort Inn and suites for my Son’s Graduation The room was very comfortable Lots of good pillows !!The little living area was perfect for his *Pre Grad Celebration *

{ a big plus when a little privacy from sleeping area is needed} The Breakfast buffet was terrific !! Hot Cheese omettes, lots of bacon, fresh WAFFEL * maker !! The Lady in charge of the breakfast needs honorable mention !! Also the desk Staff and Gen Manager were very accommodating to some special needs that I had This was a BIG asset to our stay !! I AM SO GLAD that I chose This hotel and will do so again ! when I return

I’ve stayed here twice, one night 2 weeks in a row The hotel and room was great, but sadly I will never step foot in there again The first time I stayed there everything was fine

Good enough to return the following week The second time the room and everything was great but it was 2 while days after checking out that it was bad That’s when I noticed that they have taken $278 out of my account claiming that it was from smoking in the room which did not happen I was told there was some sort of proof but she would not provide the proof or even tell me what the so called proof was Nobody smoked in the room, if I had I wouldn’t be upset at consequences of my own actions, but this isn’t the case Nobody smoked in the room and I’m being charged almost 300 2 days after I’ve checked out That’s not right at all Then when I call the hotel the attitude of the desk girl is pretty bad She claims there’s no one above her to speak to

Staff was very friendly Price was good for one night stay Staff Help with checking in little early since we had a baby with us and it was very hot outside

Room was very clean and bed and pillows were comfy Walls are thin but didn’t seem to bother us Breakfast was good Room was good size Definitely will stay here again if we are around this area You can tell it’s an older hotel but has everything we needed no complains ☺️

Andrew Overmyer

This hotel was not worth $165 for one nightAnd it sucks to give such a bad rating, cause the employees were so friendly and professional The experience of actually sleeping there was just bad

Let me start with the pros: Courteous staff, amenities in working order, air conditioning was on point, and the place was very clean – both hotel lobby and room The fridge and microwave worked as expectedBut to start, two of the wall outlets had no power So Can’t really applaud a fish who didn’t even swim correctly, as pretty much all of the above are bare minimum expectations of a hotelMy biggest issues -The single queen room is TINY Two adults and two dogs were very uncomfortable in what was basically Harry Potter’s closet but with a few extra feet of space and it’s own bathroomThe sheets felt starched?? They were so rough it was difficult to justify sleeping in them The pillows had, at most, two feathers and I had to bundle up a blanket for extra support Just an absolutely lackluster presentation from the La Quinta brand I travel frequently with dogs and they are my go-to hotel chain, so I know what to expect from their hotels and this location did not fit the billBut, again I can’t stress this enough, kudos to the staff for being super awesome Just wish their management would fix the basics and give them a better environment to work in

Ron L

Upon entering the lobby, there was an interesting odor The staff was nice and helpful The hallway where our room was didn’t seem clean and there were discoloring stains on the carpet, possibly bleach

The room was clean and bed confortable Shower instructions were away from eye level and weren’t well seen The breakfast was setup up on counters in the corner, so access for more than one person was difficult They could move people along faster if food trays were placed further away from each other where there was plenty of space The orange juice was good The waffles were ok for me and uncooked for my daughter (2 different makers, use the one on the right) The eggs seemed artificial with a steamy, moist outside and dry, bubbly core inside when scooped on the plate They tasted horrible I may have been generous on the stars

Five star cleanliness at a two star hotel/motel Literally one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed, and the most affordable room in townI come to Visalia one or two times a month, and I stay here because it’s cheap, comfortable, quiet, clean and friendly

It’s right off the freeway Great setup with views of the well kept garden and courtyard/pool area Super fabulous 80’s decor but who cares on 100+ degree days it can get a bit stuffy in the rooms, but cools off for sleepy time My favorite

Robert Gapen

Amazing hidden garden hotel with a massive garden court yard and pool area Very quirky and nice place with amazing prices in the area We loved it and will be back

It’s not a Ritz and don’t expect it, this is a older style patriarchy style place with that kind of garden quirky feel Very clean and friendly place right off 198 in central California

Andy Arch

Room was clean just older decor Price was fair for the areaThe room was hot There was an older heating and cooling system just did not do the job

I mentioned this to the front desk on check out They said the motel was all on one central heating and cooling system and they had not switched to cooling yetThere is a sliding door and regular door at front of room and a window in the bathroom this may help cool the roomRoom did have a mini fridge and mini microwave

Very clean hotel, the rooms are nice as they have been remodeled in the recent years The room did take a while to cool down, however it was very hot on the day I was thereI ate in their great room (their restaurant) for dinner and breakfast the following morning

Honestly the food was mediocre both times, but both servers acted as if I were inconveniencing them

John Tyler

Was just ok Electrical outlet in bathroom didn’t work Shower dripping a lot no matter how tight I try to stop it

$18 breakfast, no signs up saying thatyou just get a check They took $500 from a friend for security without telling him they were going to do it Said 2-3 days before it gets back in account5 days later still not back Won’t be back

I would like to report that I am completely dissatisfied with my stay at Hampton Inn Visalia on 06 – 07 July 2022 and with the Hilton Guest Assistance I do not recommend booking your stay at Hampton Inn Visalia and if I can rate my stay – I would give it a minus five starts The hotel charged me twice

I booked my stay with the points, but at check out they charged my credit card for 200 something dollars for the stay It has been more than two weeks now that I’ve been constantly following up with the hotel manager and with Hilton Guest Assistance The resolution I offered was easy – to either re-deposit the points back to my HH account or return the money back to my credit card that was charged at check-out As of 22 July 2022 – no points or money was returned I had to call my bank and dispute the chargeHilton Guest Assistance Team was absolutely un-helpful Every time someone new was replying to my requests At some pint I had an impression I was speaking to a robot On 16 July 2022 they replied they redeposited 3930 points to my account for my stay (I am sorry, but I paid 45 000 points for that stay); I continued following up; eventually today, on 22 July 2022 they replied that my reservation was booked for one adult with points, but the hotel charged me for the second guest in my room (my husband, who travels with me all the time) Seriously? Is this your explanation? Since when does Hilton charge the customers not per room but per guest? They do not keep the original email chain and a different person from Hilton Guest Assistance replies to your emails They do always thank me for being a Diamond Member though Well, I am about to re-consider as it seems the hotel chain, they way they treat their guests suffered the consequences of pandemic, I am about to switch to Marriott Bonvoy and stick to their hotels for all my future travels

This is a 2 star hotel I gave it a 3 because the staff was so courteous No laundry facilities, no gym, and the pool was not working

Other than that, the room was clean, the one tiny bar of soap was adequate (no shampoo) and plenty of toilet paper So about what you’d get at the local Motel-6 for a Marriott price tagWould I stay here again Probably not

Nikole Embury

Nice enough but $12 to park is kind of outrageous Especially considering we arrived around 10pm and left by 8am There also wasn’t even a spot available for us to park

Multiple people parked over the lines but apparently they do not have anyone paying attention to that Luckily after doing a lap someone left and we were able to squeeze our truck into a very tiny parking spot

John Foy

Titanium level Bonvoy member Stayed evening of March 25, 2022 Not up to Marriott (Fairfield) standards

Clearly profit taking going on by ownership The clerk even commented on this when checking in In my dozens of Fairfield stays I’ve NEVER been charged for parking – Except here – When I questioned it I was told: “When new ownership took over we started charging for parking” More profit taking: Shower door had been broken and removed, the brackets and hardware were still there, replace with a curtain The hardware holding up the rod, actually had hose clamps used to make it work at both ends The sitting chair was removed and never replaced Reading lamp and side table still there, but no chair I actually used Marriott points and have requested they be deposited back in my account

My grandson and I stayed at your hotel for 1 night June 19 Our room was excellent – clean with everything we needed Breakfast was great! Penny at the front desk went our of her way to ensure we had everything we needed

Little did we need know that we would need her after our stay also I forgot my calendar which is my lifeline When it was found Penny took pictures of 3 months of my calendar and text them to me so I would know what I was doing until calendar could make it to my house This was above and beyond her usual jobThank you Penny!

Our week-long stay was excellent because Vanessa had a great personality and excelled in problem-solving I didn’t know how to use washer & dryer – she kindly and patiently showed me I needed help with remote in exercise room, she solved the issue

And she did her best with the printer issue Enjoyed the food!!!! Room service was fantastic!!! Glad we stayed at Best Western!!!!!

Dan VanGent

Great service! Room was clean and appears recently updated Electric car charging was the reason we chose this hotel, and it worked great Only thing missing and keeping this from a 5 star rating were outlets next to the bed

There didn’t appear to be any restaurants nearby, but the hotel served a free delicious spaghetti dinner, which was a nice surprise We’ll definitely consider this hotel for our next trip to the area

Jr at the front desk was very polite and accommodating My friend and I checked in at the other location, Lindsay Olive Tree, but were so upset at the service and the missing room ammenties, we left within the hour of checking in I called the Visalia location and Jr took care of us right away

We’re just passing through on a road trip but will come back to the Visalia location should we come back to the area Thanks again Jr!

Purchased a room today, very displeased and unsatisfied with the state of the room There were blood stains on the carpet, dried blood on the dresser, inappropriate words burned on the table, and the sink and counters were filthy When spoke to staff she blamed the state of the room on remodeling

Will never go back to a Super 8 Beyond disgusting My advice…don’t waste your time or money
