Pay a little extra for the river view so you can see and hear the sea lions, totally worth it The hotel was clean and comfortable, Safeway is right next door for snacks and beer I’m told that the trolley occasionally runs right behind the building, going downtown, but I think it’s currently shut down due to covid

Pier 39 is a short walk away, for fish & chips and beer This is a nice simple place for a quiet weekend getaway Breakfast is pretty comprehensive and more than just continental stuff Kids enjoyed the pool/hot tub/sauna Disregard that my kids destroyed the beds in the photos

Carol Guilbault

Pricing was reasonable The front desk was outstanding, kudos to Raven who was extremely helpful and cheery We had a 3rd floor room with a lovely view

However the walls are paper thin And the noise fromThe people next store was frankly ridiculous, it actually sounded like we had a person running around in ski boots for hours and hours Sadly not sure we will return due to this reason

Alan Brown

We stay here all the time and when we booked the room we wanted one with a river view so the ladies at The front desk accommodated us with a Riverview roomIt was on the top floor just exactly like we wantedThey were friendly and helpful

The room was clean and comfortable and was a very nice day this is definitely a place you should check out when you go to Astoria

I went to Astoria for my first time and wanted to stay somewhere special But more importantly I wanted privacy and that meant to not be in a hotel or motel where I would be sharing walls with other people So I picked this place from their AirBnB ad which states that you will have the entire top floor of an old cannery to yourself

This was not the case In fact, there were at least three other rooms and the room I had reserved, which was advertised as being large enough for four people, was just like any mid-range hotel room and did not have the charm or the privacy I was expecting Also, there was a coffee pot in the room but when I wanted to make coffee, there were two bags of decaf So, I felt like that was their way of forcing me to go buy coffee downstairs which was insanely overpriced I would save my money next time and stay at the hotel that is just across the pier!

Ron Micjan

We have stayed at the Pier 39 fisherman’s suites several times in the past years The Captains Suite is the nicest room in all of Astoria, kid you not It’s like a penthouse suite

Views are stunning with the west facing wall aimed at the sunset The Bunkhouse is great for families or groups We stayed for a month there in December of 2015 while our boat was being worked on at tongue point shipyard WiFi available Find reservations at airbnb to book your stay

Stayed here for the weekend in April 2022 in a 3rd floor roomPros:Room was updated and cleanLocation is great – as close to the beach as you can get and close to downtown so you can walk to everythingBed was comfortable

View was greatTwo comfortable reading chairs in the room for those that like to just hang out and read/watch the oceanCons:The staff is only on site till 8pm so if you are checking in – make sure they know so you can make arrangements for getting your key This may be due to the slower season or staffing issues Also there is a phone number to call them after hours if you really need something

Drita D’Alessandro

Newly updated, sort ofRooms have been updated and are great Clean, new appliances, great view of Long Beach

We got a corner room that was spacious with a beautiful viewReception hasn’t been updated yet, and looked a bit run down Staff was nice, but are only in till 8pm So you need to check in before that, and hope you don’t have any issues at night that need to be addressedYou are literally walking distance to the beach, and downtown Only downside is one of the major entrances to the beach is right next to the hotel, and with the beach allowing cars on it, 8 imagine durring summer time it gets loud

Lori Weik

This hotel is in a great place Everything including beach, store, food are very close The one thing that was amazing for my family was Jasmine the front desk person

She was able to accomodate all of our needs She gave us lots of awesome information about the city, sight seeing, food, must sees etc She was wonderful I will definitely use this hotel in the future

This hotel has been the perfect starting off point for our vacation The staff here is beyond kind and they do a wonderful job answering questions and making sure everything is well kept Our room is simple but at the same time amazingly elegant, the real star however is the unobstructed ocean view

Upon opening the door for the first time we were instantly greeted with the view After taking time to marvel from the deck chairs we started soaking in the overall ambiance of the room – wood floors through out, an actual mini fridge, black and white photos of local attractions, TV (hardly used), fireplace (a perfect addition for the rain soaked days), a very comfortable king sized bed, two swivel chairs and a comfortable bathroom with dual showers (which we LOVE) There is a small open cabinet in the bathroom that fit the toiletries of both myself and my partner however a lot of the things we brought from home we didn’t actually need because the items are already provided There is shampoo, conditioner, lotion (for those who are sensitive to lavender and or patchouli please be aware both of those ingredients are in the lotion) and body wash made by Public Goods As an additional note for any African Americans, or people with thick or course hair reading this review I was able to use the shampoo and conditioner on my hair without issues of dryness or breakage – I would caution however if the weather is sunny to follow hair-washing with whatever product(s) you currently use to retain moisture We came in early to mid-June for a 4 night stay We’ve had sun, rain, wind and partly cloudy conditions Our room is well insulated and has kept a steady temperature of about 72 degrees – please note there is no A/C in these rooms but there is a box fan provided We’ve decided that we’ll be making a return visit in the future

Crystal Fincher

You can tell that care went into every aspect of the room and experience The rooms looked great online but were even better in person The jetted tub offers medium pressure and is great

The little touches from the toiletries to the rubber ducks and bath pack to the coffee and tea assortments made this especially enjoyable You will definitely hear your neighbors, but that doesn’t bother me The deck is spacious and view is gorgeous Note that the rooms don’t have phones so you’ll need to use your mobile phone or visit the lobby in person Room service was fast and tasty from The Pickled Fish, and sunset inside the restaurant is also great The staff and service were excellent! I’m so pleased with my stay and have already recommended it to friends

Aaron H

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary in one of the cottage rooms and we loved it The room was nice & private, with a huge bed and jacuzzi tub, and small gas fireplace for heating The private patio was a welcome touch too

It’s also just steps from the beach, and we witnessed an amazing sunset over the Pacific Ocean We also lucked out and got to enjoy a fireworks show celebrating the 100 yr anniversary of Long Beach, WA from our window seat at Pickled Fish My only critique would be the restaurant menu, if you’re going to go by the name Pickled Fish you should probably have more than three seafood items

Twice now I’ve stayed for my weekend here at the Commodore, and what a delight it was, again! There’s a nice waiting area to grab a book from and read as you wait to check in Most importantly, the kind people who work the front are fantastic people who (on both of our vacations) were generous enough to hold our bags for us after we checked out, since we were taking the bus back and didn’t have to leave for a few more hours So we were able to explore more of Astoria without the weight of our bags on our backs, how kind! And once again being doted on by the hospitality of this establishment was a refreshing breathe of air to walk into from the pouring rain, especially on my birthday 🎂

Rooms are cozy and amazing with a antique homey feel, and so is the rest building attached to it Pristine condition of the room and sheets, thank you maids! 5/5 would recommend Thank you so much folks at Commodore!

Laura Duncan

Great location, clean room, comfortable bed, friendly lady at the front desk We stayed in the rooms with the shared bathrooms down the hall I appreciate being able to book a budget price but feel like a boutique experience

There is not a lot of insulation to sound of other guests walking or talking in their rooms or hall, but everyone seemed to be pretty quiet and settle in early Perfect place for budget conscious roadtrippers or backpackers

Eva Kettenring

This has been my favorite place to stay in my favorite town The rooms have the vibe of a stylish hipsters apartment, with old house character, like creaky hardwood floors, transom windows, gorgeous marble and vintage sinks in the bathrooms, giant windows Only thing I would like to see is full length mirrors in the rooms, and more consistency in the items provided in the room like coffe pot or tea kettle, mini fridge, robe, etc

Overall, a great experience every time Thank you!

I never write reviews, but felt I should for this one The bathroom has mildew & mold Dirty walls throughout the room

Old mattresses and can hear everything through the walls and upstairsYou can tell this place made it “vintage” years ago never to update, clean, repaintThe breakfast is awful Packets of oatmeal and a bowl of fruitThis place could be cool if they clean it up and provide a decent breakfast Doesn’t have to be fancyThe staff was the only good part They were very nice and welcomed usI feel like places in Astoria think they can charge whatever they want, regardless of what the motel is like

Steven Hall

Outstanding place to stay in Astoria! Staff is over the top awesome and the theme is great!Pros:-Really amazing staff! Not just helpful but go out of their way to make your experience great!-really cool rooms-fridge and microwave in room-diner next door-price was goodCons (honestly if they made even just one of these changes it would be over the top)-keypad lock (for some people this actually might be a pro-There is a small amount of noise from exterior sources-our room had a bathroom door that stuck when closing Minor, but details I noticeOverall happy with our stay and would likely return

Amber C

Room was very clean, and smelled clean!!5 stars for customer service, mostlyI was given a text on how to enter after hours Brilliant! The room was themed 50s style whit was neat, actually I enjoyed the creativity!!The downside was the very noisy 101 right in front given from having to open the windows at night since the room did not have any AC and I stayed on a very warm night

They did provide a box fan to help out with the heat, thoughOtherwise everything was great!!We did not have breakfast at the hotel since Pig ‘N Pancake was next door, but I can imagine that it was delicious!

I travelled to Astoria with my mum and toddler We stayed in the 2 bed queen suite The room was so nice

The bed was incredibly comfortable They were able to provide a high chair for my toddler at breakfast Breakfast is basic enough but kept us goingThe rooftop terrace has wonderful views

Leumis Richardson

A lovely lovely and very comfortable grand old hotel Completely remodeled but keeps it’s early 20th century charm Beautifully done

The rooftop deck is a nice touch Great staff And one of the best complimentary breakfasts I have had at a hotel in -decades- While there are no amenities like a pool, room service, or a concierge, everything it tries to provide as a quality hotel it does superbly

Erin Hermansen

Absolutely incredible stay at Hotel Elliot Astoria! I quite literally went in off the street as I was looking to stay in Astoria for another night and they had plenty of rooms open The staff were so incredibly friendly and accommodating and my room was so cozy I love historic hotels and this place was so cute

Bonus – there’s a 6th floor rooftop terrace you can bring food/drinks up to and see a 360 view of Astoria and watch the ships come in! The room was cozy and the bed was comfortable HIGHLY recommend staying here if you’re visiting!

Riehl Thing (Riehlthing)

The location is good, the staff are very helpful and friendly, the rooms are nice looking The only thing keeping it from 5 star, is that the rooms do not have a mini fridge of any type in them We had purchased some cheeses, before going to the location, and finding out there wasn’t a fridge in the room

We had to do a make shift ice/ice bucket to keep the cheeses cool Besides that, the place was great It would be nice if there was a mini fridge in the room

Zach Pendergrass

My girlfriend and I stayed here in celebration of a wedding held at the same location The rooms are wonderfully unique, clean and quiet, and the staff were very friendly and helpful for both our hotel stay and for accommodating the wedding partyIf I were a golfer, the course looked well maintained and fun to play on

The guest rooms themselves are golf themed, featuring unique art themed around golfBeach access is a very short walk away, and it’s a very short drive back to Highway 101 if you need to grab something from a store

Ty Feague

My wife and I were going to get married here but our plan was spoiled by the start of the pandemic Two years later I surprised her with a one night stay It was outstanding

The staff were terrific, the breakfast was delicious and the champagne and chocolate in our room was wonderful Our favorite part of our stay had to be coming downstairs in the morning for breakfast and taking coffee outside to the fire pit I can’t wait to go back for another night

Our stay at the Cannery Pier Hotel was awesome and the staff was exceptional! The pilot house was beautiful, comfortable & clean as was the lobby and other common areas The bridge and huge ships passing by made this hotel and its views spectacular & unique It was fun to learn the rich history of the hotel & Astoria from the hotel photo gallery

We enjoyed the many things the hotel offers – a ride in the Rolls-Royce w/Jeff, social hour, fresh cookies, a bike ride, spa & sauna, and above all the personable & helpful staff Thank you again to Janis & your team for making our stay amazing!!

Don Guddat

Loved it Absolutely loved it We visited 4th of July weekend, I booked my room through a 3rd party booking service

This was the first time in recent memory the third party booking was not used as an excuse to treat me somewhat poorly The service was excellent, the cookies delicious, the breakfast palatable, but the wine I’d choose something else next time Beautiful room, great view, close parking, smells clean and fresh when you walk in the door, wonderful views in the lower lobby area and the history gallery upstairs was fun to experience didn’t use the courtesy car nor the bikes this visit, but next time we will Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Great location and place to stay overall during a recent family trip Loved the view of the bridge and how the rooms overlook a local marina Place was well maintained, clean and quiet with comfortable beds

It is a little unassuming from the parking lot, the rooms more than make up for the ‘motel vibe’ Would definitely stay here again!

Amin Sameni

Our experience was really better than what we expectedGreat waterfront location All rooms have water and bridge view

Rooms are spacious and cleanPeople were nice and breakfast was really decentDownsides: we didn’t get housekeeping service and TV was not working probablyOverall, it’s definitely worth the money

Mn Mike

Comfortable room overlooking the marina and out onto the Columbia River Can see the hotel & spa that charges twice the price that doesn’t have any better view Nicely done complimentary breakfast with a very attentive staff member

Not a glitzy glamour place but certainly well above average A nice relaxing place For downtown you have to drive It’d be a longer bike ride or walk Never did look into the town trolley which had a stop shelter nearby Never did notice a trolley either! I’d stay here again

The staff and service here have been impeccable The fact that their rental units often have record players and a massive collection of free-to-borrow records are a huge inventive for my family to return again and again But I’ll admit it, for my money – it’s the indelible stamp of “Grandma’s House Smell” permanently affixed to these vintage trailers that inspires helpless, requited love in me each time we go

Excellent staff and little-store offerings, free access to fire pits, saunas and D20 shaped buildings, five minute walks to the unforgiving ocean, these are all just gravy Go here, if you possibly can

Peter Borschowa

Had an amazing weekend staying in a vintage trailer I was initially thinking that I might prefer a proper hotel room but I am so glad that I didn’t go that directionSue’wester is beautiful, unique, and generally just a really cool place

Vita Lusty

We just got back from our first stay on the Blue Bird Bus I am a single mom with a couple small dogs and two kids, 6 and 4So many great things:1) Hot water in our trailer was immediate

Faster than most hotels2) We had our own toilet which was convenient for late night tinkles3) The oven and fridge all worked well so I could cook for the kids and keep water, beer, ice cream, fruit, etc4) Dog treats and towels provided Not your average plain, store bought biscuit5) Vinyl record player and vinyl library on site We listened to Beatles and Joe Cocker6) The temperature inside the bus was easy to manipulate The windows allow the ocean breeze to sweep through There is a space heater and small fan if needed My dogs were cooler inside than out in July7) The bed was comfortable8) There was a little store on site where you could get smores stuff, firewood, beer, wine, sparkling water, chips a can of beans which is all the rage with my kids You added it to a daily tab and were charged end of day/visit9) There is an art gallery, thrift store and small bus theater on site Very small but so cool! It reminds me of everything I love about PNW indie culture10) Complimentary coffee and tea are served 9am every day in a coffee booth The coffee is good Both dining in and taking out coffee cups are provided with half and half AND almond milk ❤️11) Doggie bag stations, trash and recycling are all in practical corners of the park making everything you need in one small area12) The Staff is Ah-mazing From booking to day-to-day service, they were NICE and helpful13) You are half a mile from the beach It is a safe and easy walk with dogs and kids14) You can borrow games and puzzles from the room behind the vinyl libraryAll in all, I just felt so comfortable there My kids were in stimulation detox It was just such a wonderful experience I felt really content thereCons:1) I am a single mom I need my coffee by 7am The coffee stand, while so appreciated and deeply, deeply loved, needs to open her doors to me earlier2) There is no food delivery in this area Most of the restaurants are really expensive and their food is mediocre Bring your own food if you are organized enough3) Bugs All apart of the atmosphere I tried to enjoy my coffee next to the African Queen in a rocking chair but was attacked by a swarm of mosquitos How very faithful to the film!If you are high maintenance, this isn’t the place for you The drapes were sometimes knocked off Quick and easy fix You have to enjoy the whole packageIt looks small upon first entry but it is a little cute commune All it needs is goat yoga 🐐

Cant be beat for the location and price It’s a perfect little spot for a long weekend Be prepared for a bit of rustic charm (it’s not a Marriott by the sea)

Food was excellent Service was great Bed was comfy Things can get a little loud but again ( It’s not a Hilton on the ocean) Love the charm and over all feeling of the place The pool and sauna were awesome and it’s adults only after 9:00PM Not to be mistaken for a Four Seasons on the beach Will return for sure, maybe later this spring or summer

Adrift is a great local hotel right on the beach, and super dog friendly! The staff is always friendly and you can tell they take pride in their business We have stayed here 4 times and always are satisfied with our experience They offer all the amenities we want out of a hotel, and at reasonable prices (especially in the winter)

It feels good supporting this local business!

I normally love Adrift but this time it missed the mark We paid nearly $500 for a king room with an ocean view (aka room overlooking the parking lot with the ocean in the background) and a shower/tub that was nothing I’d want to take a bath in They also put us in their east building which I’d never been in before and hope I won’t have to again

It was just an old motel with a coat of paint and some industrial decor Terribly placed bathroom, and silverfish Also zero soundproofing of roomsPickled fish: Forgot my ketchup for my room service breakfast We ate at the pickled fish for my birthday dinner, and we got our drinks long after our oysters (which had too many shell remnants), right before our entree Service was minimal Basically, “what do you want, ok, here, is it good, bye”Just a big letdown I was really looking forward to this trip We drove 5 hours and were excited We normally love this place but for the price we paid I felt kind of ripped off, and it seems like overall it just sucks now

I cannot say enough about this hotel The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed The staff were all so friendly and gave us lots of wonderful recommendations on how to spend our time here in Astoria and areas close by

Breakfast was outstanding and had many great options Our floor was on the fourth floor and we loved our view of the river facing the west We could watch the storms roll in, and saw several rainbows and sunsets The pool area was very nice and hot tub and sauna were big and hot just the way we like it We will definitely stay here again

Best Western Astoria:Great views as this hard to find hotel sits off the beaten path near the water but at $450/night is not worth it as the Cons outweighs the Pros:1 Not in downtown Astoria Nothing around within walking distance

2 Very dated motel (not hotel) Vending machines don’t even accept credit cards3 Poor shower water pressure Older in room furniture4 Pool & Jacuzzi are basic, nothing spectacularPros:1 Included hot breakfast comes with waffles, sausage, bacon, juices, bagels2 Customer service is excellent, very friendly staff, professional, engaging in conversation My guess is they are stunned customers are paying that much to stay there & feel guilty for gouging3 Free spacious outdoor parking lot4 Walking path along the water5 Very dog friendly Staff had treats, conveniently located & clean relieve area for pets6 Complimentary in-room WiFi was stable & fastAll the bars, restaurants, cool shops, sights are in town This out of the way motel is not worth the money you will spend just for a water view You won’t get the Astoria experience

Had a great experience during our stay This place is close to everything There’s a walking path right outside with 6 miles of track

Pier 39 is a step away and had cool stuff to offerRoom had a lot of windows and views plenty of space and comfortable furniture Appreciate the breakfast served daily

Jennifer Sexton

Very very clean, great location to walk some of the riverfront walk Got to hear and see the sea lions Breakfast had waffles, oatmeal, eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, cold cereal, yogurt, pastries, bagels, English muffins

Fresh fruit So much to choose from The front desk employees were so nice and gave great tips and a map of the area The views from the breakfast area was amazing to see the freighters parked out on the Columbia River If we’re ever blessed to be in Astoria again would definitely be staying the night at Hampton Inn!

Daniel Torres

Great location, great service, great price! Astoria is a top tourist destination and you expect to pay more, but Hampton Inn keeps price reasonable considering vacation/destination location Try and get room facing river for a truly memorable experience, but even rooms facing road have nice views DJ, front desk guest receptionist, will ensure you have the best experience possible

If anything needs attention she makes certain it is taken care of immediately She also knows the best places to eat While staying, be certain to go to Pier 39 and eat at Rogue Ale Public House It is an easy walk from the hotel and a relaxing, friendly place to relax after a long day of driving or touring

Still reveling weeks later from a wonderful stay both at the Norblad and at the Norblad/Astor across the street We have stayed before and new exactly was to expect, clean crisp rooms, amazing sheets, comfy beds and a fun vibe overall The swing chair is everything

Our last night we stayed in the Owner’s Suite in the Astor and were in LOVE! Amazing view and beautifully decorated space No TV and a queen bed were the only aspects we’d change but really didn’t dampen the overall experience at all 100/10 recommend!

hillary hoffman

Loved our stay at here My partner and I had a suite, with a private bathroom The staff was laid back, and friendly

The room was simple, cute and super clean Great location and very walkable They let you check out a record player and have a fun selection of vinyl in the lobby Good coffee station too We will definitely be back next time we are in Astoria

Windy-Ayres Wray

Husband and I usually stay at the Hotel Elliot when we visit Astoria, but they raised their rates for the Valentine’s Day holiday So, we tried the Norblad (based on reviews, location, and images) We got the suite, so we could have our own bathroom/shower

This place was amazing! Pros: price, cleanliness, location (in the heart of it all but NOT on a busy street) Cons: be aware that there is SOME noise, but earplugs are provided Also, bring a deck of cards, a board game, or a laptop because there are no TVs in the rooms If we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, we would have spent our time in a bar or late-night restaurant until bedtime Instead, we enjoyed walking at night to listen to the sea lions, grabbed some delicious pizza from Fort George Brewery + Public House, and played Travel Scrabble in our room Great hotel will DEFINITELY visit again

I reserved the room on the recommendation of a friend and I really was not disappointed The bed was super comfortable and we actually over slept because of how dark the blackout curtains were The pool and hot tub were clean and stocked with towels

The breakfast is the whole reason to stay though Typical hotel breakfast add pancakes and all the accoutrements Great! The staff is amazingly friendly and the location includes a great view of the river with great local taverns within walking distance

Anneke Brown

IHG Hotels is the best set of chain hotels on the Oregon Coast! They have been remodeling all their hotels during the pandemic So, the beds are soft and supportive The interiors are fresh and clean

This one is my favorite for a reading retreat It has a perfect reading chair and fireplace in the room! The lobby has that beautiful dark, oiled wood It is warm and cozy from the first step inside Enjoy!

Read the fine print! My wife and I recently planned a trip to Astoria with some friends so about a week in advance I made a reservation at this HIE A few days later, we changed our plans so I cancelled our reservation because we decided to stay elsewhere I received an acknowledgement that my reservation was cancelled and didn’t think about it any more until a charge for the room showed up in my credit card account about three days before our trip

I called the hotel and talked to their representative who explained that the reservation I had made was a non-refundable prepaid reservation but that she would request that a refund be made A week went by with no refund so I called back and she told me the same thing Another month has passed and still no refundNow, I understand that it’s my fault that I didn’t read the original reservation closely and didn’t realize I was making a non-refundable prepaid reservation but you’d think a place like this would have a little flexibility in their policies I generally like these hotels because they’re convenient, usually OK, not complicated to deal with, and they are plenty of them around But, in this case, there’s a nice Hampton Inn just down the street as well a couple of other chain hotels nearbyI can’t tell you much about the Holiday Inn Express itself; it looks OK from the outside If you do decide to stay here, I’d be careful about what you’re signing up for Personally, I plan to stay someplace other than an IHG hotel next time I go somewhere
