We stayed in Willie’s Suite for 5 nights and could not have been more impressed with this place! The whole downstairs area, and our rooms, were beautiful and filled with antiques Very authentic and charming without being overly fancy We had every comfort we could have asked for, and Ms Jean and her helper lady cooked a full hot breakfast every morning, complete with fruit, yogurt, juice, etc

She is a wonderful lady and just so personable She makes it feel like home Island House is a tough act to follow, if we could give 10 stars we would!!

We had such a great stay!! This is a no-frills hotel, for sure But the price is great for being across the street from public beach access!!The rooms were clean, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier There is also a pool with plenty of seating and umbrellas

Hotel doesn’t provide breakfast, but there’s coffee available in the lobby and a decent sized refrigerator in the room, so went to the store and stocked up on snacks and drinksGreat find, and we will definitely see you again next summer!! ☀️🌊🏝🐠🦀☀️

10/10 the best customer service Sheena that works at the front lobby desk is amazing! From the time our family walked in (last minute due to having to leave our rental house due to health concerns) to the time we checked out a week later Sheena was so helpful and friendly Always has a smile on her face! We needed something affordable that would accommodate the 9 of us and our dog

Sheena helped us get booked within 15 minutes and she was able to get us a room right above each other, as it was a family planned vacation we wanted to be closer together Thank you so much for all your help Sheena Everything else was also amazing and truly 10/10 all around for this hotel and all their staff

Andrea DiDonato

Very outdated and in need of repair, dog friendly rooms Also, they do Not inform you while booking your room that dogs are Not allowed on the beach from 9am to 6 pm Memorial day through Labor day

Go to a different hotel with your pets, not in Kill Devils Hill!! Breakfast buffet and evening, appetizers were good Pool is nice Front desk ladies Not very friendly !! Maid service staff were wonderful though

Erika L. Cowling, MBA

The front desk staff was very friendly and answered all our questions They knew who we were when we arrived and called us by name They made check-in and checkout very easy

Breakfast selection was good and the attendee was very nice The rooms were clean The balcony appeared to have been recently swept off which was good This was a true ocean view room, no false advertisingBreakfast ends at 9:30 In all my years of travel I have never been to a hotel where breakfast ends at 9:30 That 30 mins matters! I felt rushed to get downstairs to eat Coffee was awful There was a worker standing outside the door when we arrived He then followed us to the front desk He kept interjecting in the conversation between us and the front desk clerk He was creepy The hotel was clean but a bit dated Really just looked like a good coat of paint could do the job Maybe the worker at the front desk could do that since it seemed as if he nothing to do

From the minute I walked up to the front desk and was greeted by a welcoming, friendly and happy staff member, I knew it was going to be a great stay Our ocean front room was clean and well appointed as the hotel itself was extremely clean Every member of the staff that we came in contact with was very friendly and outgoing

We ate in the hotel restaurant twice (dinner and breakfast) and the food was delicious with competitive pricing I want to particularly point out that for both meals, although the dining room was very full and you could see very understaffed, the waitstaff was still very friendly and attentive The grounds were impeccable and we look forward to going back in the near future My only complaint is I wish the pillows were a little firmer but other than that, you can’t go wrong staying here!

Amy Pitzer

The hotel is beautiful outside, in the lobby, and restaurantThe ladies at check in were not as kind to me as they were the guest before me A smile is everything

I did notice the ladies on the shift next were a lot more pleasantRoom was nice Beds were comfy Bathroom was cleanInside pool was dirty There was a muffin and lots of hair floating in the poolThe accessibility to the beach is very nice They have a fire pit and chairs on the back patio to enjoy on a chilly eveningAll and all it was nice I think $320 a night is a little high during the off seasonDefinitely eat breakfast at the restaurant Very sweet staff and yummy food

Liza Vigliotti

We enjoyed our stay! It’s perfect being right on the beach and a plus that Hilton bought the property including the pier Everything you need for a relaxing vacation is here which includes the on-site Restaurant, Tiki bar, outdoor patio where you can sit by the fire, poolside chairs and the covered deck that oversees the beach The room was perfect for our party of four! The place was clean and the staff were very friendly and very helpful! We would definitely come back and book our stay here again

Been a lot of places and for the $ this place has the most enduring value Laid back fellow visitors, lots of owners using their timeshares for many years Everyone respectful and keeping things clean on beach and in shared spaces like the pools

You couldn’t get more family friendly Lots of good people with little kids using the pirate ship and swings, teens exploring freely under the condos and finding the secret soda machines, ping pong table, clubhouse Swimming in the ocean is mesmerizing for all ages Ive seen older kids/young adults playing games on the beach Everybody flying kites Best beach in the world It’s relaxing Special word: the morning is the best time for everything: spectacular sunrises, pleasant breezes on your porch, beach walk Cook your own breakfast and then go see some sights Sure there’s nightlife – but really, the value is in the peaceful beautiful, simple mornings

Krystal Sourwine

We’ve been coming down to the OBX Beach Club Resort for 16 years and never have a complaint We own 2 timeshares in the units on the beach side and love it! We spend our family vacation here every July The units are always clean and ready to go when we arrive and they’re quick to help when needed

Our units are finally being updated with new furniture and decor My only complaint this year is the queen beds needs replaced in our units They’re super uncomfortable and very squeaky Other than that, the pool is super nice and the activities at the beach club are fun! Highly recommend!

karenwh2os

The condo was pretty clean New carpet, plenty of kitchen essentials The bathrooms were large and updated

The primary suite bathroom has a HUGE jacuzzi tub with shower I don’t really use the jacuzzi feature but it was so nice having a huge shower Big enough for 2 I was very disappointed that the elevator was broken toting all our luggage up to the 3rd floor was not a fun time, nor was climbing the steps after the rain The sofa and loveseat looked like something out of That 70’s Show The bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely furnished and fairly updated But the living room and dining area really needs updating Overall, a clean place to stay, with a 2 minute walk to the beach, literally across the street

We have stayed at Oasis Suites numerous times in the past but must say this last visit was even more exceptional! Beverly is hands down the most professional, friendly and kind person we have ever experienced She assisted us in coordinating side by side rooms for a family gathering with our children/grandchildren It was truly perfection and she went above and beyond to make it perfect and treated us as family

David also was superior as well as all housekeeping staff All other hotels should take lessons from them We will definitely be back!! A heartfelt thank you to all!!!

Adrian Troy

Oasis was the perfect place for my husband & parents to stay for the weekend The suite was spacious while offering enough privacy throughout the weekend as well The kitchen was well stocked if you wanted to make a simple meal and, despite not having an oven, the microwave was also a convection oven which was useful

The beds were super comfortable and generally everything around the property (ex ice machine) was in great working order We would absolutely stay here again

Melinda Kendrick

This was mine and my husband first time ever at the Outer Banks and by far I have to say that this accommodation at this Suite was lovely We stayed in the honeymoon suite because it was our 10 year anniversary and the honeymoon we never took because of having kids But now they are grown and it is our time besides grandkids

Great staff, clean room, pool clean, everything was lovely We didn’t stay in our room but only to sleep, because we were out riding the whole day we were there, but the time that we was in the room and checked in was lovely Keep up the good work

Very unimpressed We couldn’t check-in for at least 40 minutes past the 4 pm check-in time In their words they said the room was still filthy

When we finally made it to the room, it was a crackerbox with one of the most uncomfortable king sized beds I have ever laid on The cable tv signal was in and out due to a weak signal all evening long Bad experience We won’t be back

Michael Oberlin

We were so disappointed to learn the Inn had changed ownership We have stayed at the Inn a year ago and 6 months ago and had delightful experiences, but alas, “progress” ruined the experience for us Miss Rebecca is sorely missed, her personal, sweet hospitality was a delight

Now the check in is done remotely on a computer There is nothing charming or personal about the procedure, and no staff available for questions should they arise The Inn itself is charming still The eclectic antiques still a plus in my mind Cleanliness still good, but the rugs could be replaced, appear to have bleach stains throughout Again, the stay itself was fine, love the location and price(off season) but the experience feels very different than it had in the past 🙁

Vic Overton

My wife and I stayed here in June for an anniversary beach trip The carpet in our room looked nasty, and was covered in stains and what appeared to be bleach spots The light fixture in the bathroom would strobe after about five minutes of use

We called it in, but no one came to fix it Beds were abysmal, and on one of them, the box spring sunk in the middle on one side A third (middle) slat/support would have been the fix for that It’s not a hard-to-spot problem, which logically indicates lack of attention to even the most obvious detailThere was nowhere to hang wet towels or swimsuits, other that a set of rusty hooks on the back of the bathroom door We improvised by using plastic hangers That said, the bath/shower insert was niceThe icebox was a nice touch, but there was a wasp nest in the outdoor furniture right outside our room The decking also contained a bird nest Issues like this are indicative of more lack of proper attentionLastly, upon return to our room after a day on the beach, we found that neither of our room keys worked, thought they had both worked that morning We walked down to the front desk to find no one there in the middle of the afternoon, so we were left dealing with the dreaded and woefully impersonal kiosk The person on the other end of the conversation was experiencing audio problems, for which she spent several minutes troubleshooting, and finally was able to talk with me The “get new key” experience took somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes, and was frustrating overallOverall, the quality of the experience, from reservations, to the lack front desk presence, to the kiosk, and the negative effect of several unnecessary issues, was lowThe sad part of this is that we had really looked forward to what we hoped would be a good experience, and were really rooting for this little inn to become our “go to” place for quick trips to the Outer Banks Unfortunately, that ended up not being the caseThis inn could be so much better, but an inn on autopilot isn’t the way to get there

Hitch Worlder

I wanted to like this place Cute and cozyCheck-in via kiosk is so impersonal

Room was ok Decor nice and generally clean Lots of little things that could easily be fixed Ownership can rectify this so easily Very disappointing I would recommend avoiding until rooms are gone through and actually fixed up, and the biggest… Hire a front desk person It’s bordering on the disturbing

G Woo Hoff (Peachynorth)

Sanderling Resort came highly recommended for a long weekend visit for our family with 2 kids under 10 yrs It exceeded our expectations in every way Upon our really late arrival, the front desk swiftly checked us in with welcome gifts

Our room was clean and fresh, bathrooms well stocked with extra towels The beds were heavenly – not too soft or hard The balcony facing the ocean had screen doors, so we could listen to the ocean and fall asleep to the ocean breezeWith plenty of activities to choose from or simply sitting at the beach/pool We all enjoyed our 1st outer banks trip Especially for families with little kids, this resort has thoughtfully designed layout (zero entry pool) and activities to make things easy And the 21+ only area with separate pools, bar and fire pits allows adults to have space to enjoyBreakfast at the Lifesaving restaurant was delicious and convenient The manager comes to personally keep things running smoothly

Adam Engel

Wonderful resort Staff was very friendly and accommodating The main resort area, pools, beach and fire pits were wonderful

We arrived on a Monday at the beginning of the season when most area and resort activities were not present due to early in the week The list of family (and adult) friendly activities was pretty large though and would be an amazing time for allThere was even a wedding event on the beach that we got to see a little of!The room was spacious and had a deck Very relaxing few days

Sean Clancy

Booked last second for a boat load of money Wife and I needed to get away for a weekend Worth every penny

They have fine dining (excellent food) and a spa across the street with beautiful views They also have a breakfast restaurant on the property (again, excellent food) You never need to leave the property Beach, beautiful views, pool, multiple activities and an excellent staff Room was extremely cozy and had a balcony facing the water Going back soon and will be bringing the kids

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! I got a great deal on the room, so I had my expectations set pretty low We were blown away by our experience! The rooms were clean and the staff was incredibly helpful Breakfast was good and well stocked

The hotel is right on the beach, with easy access to the ocean We will definitely be staying here in the future!

Dianna Ahner

I cannot say enough about this motel When we arrived at our room we noticed it was at the front of the motel in full sun We asked if we could change rooms which they changed immediately

The manager on duty even helped move our luggage Our next room had one of the best showers we have had at a motel Only comment would be that it should have more space to hold toiletries; contacts, solution, toothpaste etc Unfortunately we had to checkout early but the staff could not have been more accommodating Will definitely stay here again

Tara Gologram

Honestly I was really happy with my stay I came for spring break from college and this hotel happened to have the best deal When I booked I didn’t realize that you could walk out the back onto the beach

It’s back in a quiet area and everyone on the staff is very nice, gave me suggestions where to eat, what to do, and gave me bottles of water when I asked about a water fountain Only complaint is that the rooms are a bit small but you get what you pay for If I come back to OBX I would consider staying here again

We were fortunate enough to stay on the off season We had an ocean view room with a terrace It was so nice to have the door open and listen to the waves crashing in

The next morning, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet as we were watching the sunrise! Beautiful! Customer service was excellent!Thank-you so much for one of THE BEST hotel stays we’ve ever had!

Courtney Fraley

Other than the design of the bathroom being a little wonky(hard to use the toilet with the door in your way) our stay was wonderful! Jessica checked us in (also the GM) & was wonderful at explaining everything & made my kids feel special by giving them stickers since they were so quiet She recommended Sam & Omies for being adult & kid friendly only a 7 minute walk from the hotel! Amazing food! Housekeepers were all so nice Direct beach access was great & we had a beautiful view of the beach from our room

Can’t wait until we can go back!

ken sosinsky

Directly on the ocean, far enough away from the tourists staying at Nags Head, but close enough to go there if you desire The hotel is very convenient to the activities and close to many restaurantsThe staff is very friendly, dedicated and just terrific

They make you feel like ‘family’ rather than just another customer From the front desk, to housekeeping, dining room attendant, and maintenance, everyone is personable and pleasant Have stayed here each time we visit Nags Head, and are planning more future stays We have made this location one of our ‘go to places’

We had a pleasant stay The staff was very courteous Especially Jamie, she was so accommodating

Excellent customer service! The room was spotless, kitchen was well stocked with cutlery and utensils Just a stone’s throw walk to the beach The hotel also has carts so we can get all our luggage from our car to the lift Will definitely come back and stay here

Wendy Colvin

Lovely hotel, it was very clean and appeared to be new The kitchen area in the room was great I saw other reviews saying there were dogs everywhere, but we only saw a few and it was actually nice to see them

It didn’t affect us at all The outdoor pool and beach access was brilliantThe only downside was that breakfast was all on disposable plates Not a huge deal, and possibly due to covid protocols? Just seemed like a huge waste throwing everything away All in all we had a wonderful stay and will be back again for sure

Nikki Greytock

Nice new hotel! King Suite is tiny, we opened sofa bed and it touched the king bed with no room to get between the two My husband and I stayed here with our two kids- high school and college age and it was super tight for the price Indoor saltwater pool, wished it was an outdoor pool

Private beach access for the hotel was under constructionand not open Lots of dogs and I mean lots of them, we saw 10-15 per day in lobby, parking lot, breakfast and elevators If you don’t like dogs don’t stay here Pros: great breakfast, nice staff new & clean and nice toiletriesOverall King Suite is too small for 4 people

From the very start Guest Relations with John Yancey Inn was Excellent, Hannah was quick to communicate, Bud and Karen very friendly, informative, extremely eager to serve! My Efficiency was Perfectly Detailed, Extremely Clean, Bright, Cheerful and Spacious! Lots of great Amenities! My room was immaculate, quiet and comfy…I especially loved the private, clean beach right over the sand dune!! Peter stocked a nice selection of different items for breakfast, including cereal, self-made waffles, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc (I loved the little brown bags for to go items)

A nice promenade lead to a deck providing lovely view of white sand beach, sparkling water, a star filled sky at night I’m so looking forward to returning to this ocean front Inn!

This hotel was a pleasant surprise It was clean and the rooms were a good size Good location and friendly staff

They had a good breakfast and wine & cheese in the afternoon Right on the beach with a nice pool as well My only complaints are there is only one elevator and it’s painfully slow and the bathroom was a little small We were on the top floor and found ourselves having to take the stairs most times because there were so many people waiting on the slow elevator I would definitely stay here again though

Great location! Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful The restaurant recommended by one young lady at the front desk was excellent We booked an oceanfront room which in my opinion was way overpriced

But we both enjoyed the views from the balcony Free breakfast was pretty good and helps you save time in the morning The room was clean, bathroom is small, parking never a problem

Everything was great Staff were more than accommodating We were treated professionally yet friendly

This hotel provided extras like a hot breakast and a 4 o’clock pm social time with wine, cheese, crackers, popcorn and cookies There was always hot coffee and the views were amazing I highly recommend this facility One tiny negative-bring your own toilet paper

If you are looking for fancy, this is not your place! We don’t need fancy, we are here for the beach! The rooms ands grounds are clean and comfortable Right on the beach! Miller’s is across the street for delicious dining We go for breakfast every morning, then hit the beach! Dinner is great there too! Pizza shop within a short walking distance, with an ice cream shop

They have delighted dog rooms too, which is very important to us

It is with great sadness that I report the decline of the Outer Banks Motor Lodge Having stayed there multiple times a year for the past 25 years, (5 stays in 2021), this place was a true favorite and a wonderful place to stay Unfortunately, this year it has new owners

They have remodeled and they’re still in that process One of the pluses of this establishment has always been a full kitchen in select rooms We would always take advantage of that, although we do eat out probably a third of the time We brought a ham, a large piece of salmon to serve all six of us, steaks, pork chops, a roast and even frozen pizzas We brought these things as we have on every trip here only to find that they have taken out the ranges with ovens and replaced them with a sub par, two burner “induction” cooktop and small, virtually useless pots and pans As we were trying to cook breaded oysters in the frying pan the cooktop kept cutting off and it had to cool to restart it Essentially it ruined our fried oysters We didn’t have an oven to cook in and we didn’t have a stove top that’s worth mentioning In addition to this, the two rooms adjoining that we had both had quite a few bugs underneath the kitchen sink and underneath the coffee maker In all of the many years that we have stayed here none of us have ever seen bugs in the rooms I reported this to the front desk and was told that management would take care of it immediately We have yet to hear back from them They also replaced the old keyed door locks with key cards which don’t seem to work most of the time Thankfully, they do still have the outdoor grills Due to the renovations, the pool was not available during our stay While this is an understandable issue, we should have been made aware of this ahead of time and we were not In addition to these unacceptable physical changes, the “feel” of the mom and pop motel, the feeling of old Nags Head, is absent from this place The rooms themselves are not bad, just different We also depended on the washer, dryer and the ice maker all of which are no longer available We had to buy bagged ice and go to the laundromat And, of course, the cost has gone up considerably Such a loss as the location in relation to the beach is unequalled

Feels right for the price Nothing super fancy but an upgrade from a motel for sure The staff were all friendly and very accommodating of questions

The indoor pool and hot tub were enjoyable in the rainy weather, and it was lovely to be so close to the private beach to be able to take advantages of quick breaks in the weather Beds were comfy Walls are very, very thin though – expect to clearly hear every word your neighbors say (and be heard yourselves as well) Included breakfast was a nice touch and about what I’d expect at this level of hotel, though the variety of available items was more than expected Decently clean where it counts

We booked a beautiful ocean view suite for our anniversary weekend and LOVED it The weather was horrible but at least we were able to spend some time away from home and just relax during this staycation Breakfast was amazing both mornings

Plenty of options Friendly staff I would recommend this place for travelers especially those for off season Awesome winter rates Not packed Just peaceful

This was our first vacation as a family since 2009 so I was out of practice booking reservations and planning activities I chose Shutters because of its location right on the beach, basic breakfast is included, was able to have an ocean view and the price was reasonable The elevator was still broken as per earlier reviews so if you get a 4th floor room like us be prepared to get some exercise

Got our pulse rate going when a rat snake met us halfway up the stairs, but at least no ratsThe room we got was very clean, the air conditioning worked great, and it came with a mini fridge and microwave Only wished we could have stayed a little longer

The first night was fine Clean sheets and an overall tidy environment We proceeded to stay for the next 3 days

We called room service the 2nd night to get clean sheets and fresh commodities They satisfied us by putting a couple fresh towels on our beds and doing nothing else Pretty shabby experience We definitely won’t be staying here again Not worth the money we paid

Shayla Sills

If I could give this Zero starts or even negative stars I absolutely would We walked into our room and the bedding smelled musty Housekeeping was a complete joke

The hotels I’ve been to washed the sheets every time we were gone Always came back to clean bedding However, it was not the case at this hotel Our second day, we called and requested clean bedding and more towels 8 hours later we came back to a set of towels and nothing else touched We slept in gross bedding for 3 nights and it was easily one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at a hotel and we will not be staying here again Absolutely ridiculous

For an impromptu trip to the beach, my husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Seahorse Inn & Cottages We stayed in the Queen suite with a jacuzzi tub The suite was very clean and offered a lot of space

You have a living room area with a futon sleeper, tv, fridge, microwave and Keurig The bathroom was nice and clean, the jacuzzi tub was great, It is a 1 person jacuzzi tub The bedroom is spacious with a queen bed, the bed was nice and comfy My only complaint on the room, would be the duvet cover and sheetsThe Inn is located across from Jennette’s Pier with direct beach access Check in and out is done with a live video kiosk in the office The parking lot is rather small, smaller vehicles may park directly in front of downstairs rooms and larger vehicles park in the back lot All in all a great and affordable stay

I’m giving them a 5/5 stars because this place was absolutely phenomenal I’ve never written a review before, but my experience at the Colington Creek Inn was to good not to talk about First of all, the house is beautiful

It also smells super clean and fresh, and looks it too When we walked in, Dawn and Darold were very warm and welcoming, and made me feel at home immediately after stepping my foot in the door They will also let you do your own thing, but will have good conversation with you if you’d like Not to mention, the breakfast was super delicious and they even put fresh baked cookies outside our door the night I stayed Overall, this is the best place I have ever stayed and I can promise you won’t find better There’s so many more good things, but neatness to say I 110% recommend!!

Holly A. Guelig

This was the best service I’ve ever experienced Colington Creek Inn felt like home; the hosts/owners went above and beyond to make sure our visit was special and that we were comfortable The rooms are awesome and the views are refreshing

Breakfast was homemade and delicious! We will be coming back for sure Thank you for a wonderful getaway, Colington Creek Inn!

Maddie Hermann

This Inn was truly a 5/5 star experience I know you’re probably wondering why ALL the reviews are 5/5 and I did too but let me tell you, you would not regret booking here Dawn and Darold were amazing & breakfast was great every single morning we stayed with them

They were knowledgeable about local “To-Dos” and those didn’t disappoint either! We will certainly be returning!
