My first hostel hotel experience and it was surprisingly pleasant! The rooftop was beautiful and cold The lobby was comfy and warm The drinks were all amazing

I tried different local wines, had some tea, and grabbed a cup of coffee the morning before my departure It was all short, sweet, and comfortable I’ll be visiting Portland more and hope to get a room there again Definitely 10/10

Niusha Tajvidi

I would go back and visit Portland just to stay at this hotel! The staff here are beyond incredible Upon arrival I had a lot of anxiety as I was a first time solo traveller and everyone there made me feel so safe Everyone there genuinely cares about you and your safety

The hotel offers an escort system if you feel unsafe at a location and you can even text the staff at anytime which was super helpful I stayed at a single room which meant I had to share a bathroom and I had some reservations about it before visiting but it exceeded all my expectations! The room and bathroom was honestly cleaner than at any hotel I have stayed at The cafe/restaurant in the lobby had amazing food (I had a chocolate chip cookie from there every single day because honestly it was the best) There’s also amazing views from the beautiful rooftop patio I VERY HIGHLY recommend staying here!

Gosh what a unique hostel/hotel I loved staying here They have a big, coed hostel room with comfortable, ship-berthing-inspired bunks

They have privacy curtains which I loved The hotel also has private rooms but I didn’t stay in oneI loved the common cafe area The hours are long and there are always people taking advantage of the spaceThe only thing I can say negatively about this was the location being swamped by homeless people I have compassion for them but there’s a lot of unaddressed mental health issues and it made me feel unsafe leaving at night The doors to the cafe/hotel required being buzzed in or using your room key so that was coolOverall, I would stay here again This is the nicest hostel I’ve been in

We had such a good time on our first stay, that we decided to book the same tiny Bamboo house, for a second timeSadly, it was in a bit of disrepair- missing light fixture, absent kitchen ware, etc As directed, I had requested sheets for the pull-out couch; no sheets were waiting for us on arrival

Maybe we will try a different house, next time

Bridget Van Well

Almost a week after checkout my boyfriend and I keep saying how much we miss tiny digs! We stayed for a short weekend and had the best time in our tiny home There were some issues with my reservation but Leanne was so helpful in getting everything sorted Just be weary in winter times there is a shortage of hot water and only a space heater

This didn’t affect us much as we still greatly enjoyed our stay Can’t wait to come back during our next time in Portland

Tiff Freccero

My sister and I stopped here for a night on our roadtrip up north, and absolutely loved it! Clean, comfortable and very functional for a small space I loved the bathroom! We chose the tiny home that was dog friendly, and it was a great match A ton of restaurants in walking distance

We loved the german one right around the corner! I would highly recommend a stay here again

The best hostel!!!!! I stayed here for a week (in a private queen room) and couldn’t fault it at all Super modern, clean and awesome The rooftop bar was a huge plus, although not open every night so be aware of that

Great location to get to downtown on the bus or walk to some cool restaurants Staff were lovely Seriously can’t stop thinking about how cool the place was, wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels before and this genuinely was the nicest Don’t miss it!

Samantha Georgi

Great idea, has potential, lacking in executionI stayed in one of the 4 bed female dorms for 2 nights I was very excited about a new hostel in Portland

I’ve stayed in many a European hostel so am familiar with the structure and price bracket The facility is clean and modern and the attached cafe and rooftop bar are nice amenities Unfortunately I was too exhausted the first night to check out the rooftop bar, and on the second night it was mostly blocked off for a private event that appeared to also block the computer room area, which I was planning to use I wish that guests were priority in the use of space, especially considering that the price for 2 nights came to $103 total for a dorm room which is higher than most hostelsThe layout of the shared dorms is great in theory – enter into a common area with a small locker for luggage storage and 2 toilets/2 showers shared by 3 – 4 bed dorm rooms which are accessed through this room I would think the intention behind this is to keep non-sleeping activities out of the quiet spaces for sleeping However, the lockers are too small so luggage ends up in the room anyway The photos on the website failed to show single window dorm rooms, which have a more claustrophobic feel The bunks don’t seem to be bolted to the wall, which allows them to shake a fair bit when getting in or outThe most disappointing part of the layout is that despite what seems like careful planning of intentional quiet spaces, the doors are all THE loudest self closing doors in a space with no sound absorption so you constantly hear the slam of doors at any hour someone comes in or uses the bathroom I understand rugs would be hard to keep clean, but some kind of sound absorption paired with soft-close doors would be a huge upgrade to this spaceOverall, the hostel served it’s purpose of offering a reasonably affordable and clean place to stay in a great location And all the staff I encountered seem great

Peter Custer

Perfect place to launch a college reunion trip Lolo Pass was ideal for our group and we used a ton of the first-class accommodations We enjoyed the rooftop views, the coffee at the cafe and even participated in a local wine tasting event held in the lobby

The staff was friendly and helpful…Steering us to a great meal within close walking distanceRoom was clean and quiet Highly recommend

Sarah Torres

What a great facility! The rooms are renovated + modern (and ultra clean), the parking is gated and plentiful, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the in-house restaurant was really awesome We had two suppers and a breakfast there, because it was so convenient and delicious Our room was wonderfully quiet, too

The only complaint is the low water pressure – it’s hard to shampoo long hair without a little more oomph from the shower But we’ll be back – great location, great hotel

Whitney Pederson

This probably has one of the best hotel bars I’ve been to The drinks are amazing and my bartender Cain was so nice and helpful The drink menu is very cute

I really liked their beer selection as well My favorite beer is Vortex Fort George and they actually had it I highly recommend the food too! Seriously what a great fun place! Cain let me take a photo of drinks he made for a table

Dianne Hensley

The Hotel was exactly as presented Nothing fancy but clean and well located Street parking was readily available so we saved ourselves the $45 a night (you have to pay a couple of dollars per hour after 8 am but 7pm to 8 am is free)

They lost a star because they didn’t clean the room the first day When I called down to ask they said housekeeping had to be requested I asked how I would know that, and they said I should have been told when I checked in I was not The restaurant in the lobby had a tasty hotpot that was easily shareable

Service was awesome Location perfect The rooms themselves, we booked 2, were good but could have been a little cleaner

Corners of rooms were dusty so maybe a little more attention to detail The biggest issue was the lack of hot water for showering It was warm but never got to being “hot” We only stayed one night so it wasn’t a huge deal, got the job done Overall it was a go9d experience

Jodie Hebbard

This is now one of my favourite hotel chains and I can’t wait to visit more of them It’s such a chill vibe, but while maintaining excellent service The staff were so helpful and friendly and of course they are SUPER dog friendly which was amazing

We’ve traveled a lot with our dogs and have never come across a place like this that is so welcoming to the dogs Extra nice touches are the robes and free water bottles The food and drinks at the restaurant were really good as well And the location can’t be beat Right on the river and near all the shops and sights downtown and walking distance to the Saturday market Can’t wait to come back!

Christini Inbetweeni

Wonderful stay! Everyone at the front desk was so, so nice (including, of course, the famous Kennedy mentioned in so many reviews) and generous We loved the location and walked all over the city, which was much needed after eating all the wonderful food available Rooms were clean, towels were brought up within just a couple minutes after I realized we needed a couple more, and the hotel was surprisingly quiet with noise from other rooms

I think one night we heard noise from the room next to or below us, but they had to have been exceptionally loud!Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again! The hotel is lovely but the people here are what really make this such a great place to stay

I arrived for a conference and the woman who checked me in was so quick, nice and professional I was able to check in early which I was not expecting Our lunch during our conference was great and the server had great customer service

The three men that helped me with valet were so friendly and quick I loved my room, it was very clean and comfortable I wish the shower had more pressure but everything else made up for it Check out was quick and easy and the manager was training two new hires with such patience As a manager in the hotel industry I was very happy with my stay and the entire staff The housekeepers I saw in the hallway were so friendly also Would highly recommend

Abby Rager

Wow, what an A+++ experience It’s rare that you walk into a hotel and feel SO genuinely welcomed by its representatives I was immediately greeted by Ava who provided an amazing customer experience at check-in — she was personable, precise, and kind

She was so savvy that she immediately tied my reservation to me based on some clothing indicators and took initiative to greet me by name before I even got to the desk! This hotel’s amenities, rooms, and location were all top-notch, but the people that work there were what really separated it from the many other Portland hotels I’ve stayed in The bartender RJ was fantastic as well Ava and team made the stay feel incredibly comfortable Just re-booked 2 nights for this week!

Rajasekhar Gundu

Tiny rooms but well maintained No water in room unless you ask for & nothing in room refrigerator food (they did mention at check-in though) and no dining option at all COVID really changed many businesses operating mechanism it seems so

Mini gym in basement, and a daily wine tasting experience at 5PM which I never managed to get a time slot in my calendar A good place to stay, but lot of scope to improve

There is a lot to love about this place The beers, the winery, the decently prized food and it’s proximity to some beautiful waterfalls Nevertheless, there were somethings that rubbed me the wrong way

First, know that unless you specifically request it, the restrooms are shared While I can understand the appeal for some, I needed this to be more explicit prior to our booking We ended up getting a room with our own toilet and shower for an additional $50 a night (we stayed three nights) Second, the restaurants on sight offer mostly fried food I left that place full but feeling like I needed to do a detox for my arteries sake Just know what you are getting into before deciding to go with this place

Hannah

So much to do and so much fun! It was really nice walking around while waiting on our table to be ready You are able to stop at the different bars for drinks, there’s music, and just an overall great atmosphere The garden was beautiful to walk around and I cannot wait to go back to explore more

The food was delicious, drinks were tasty, and the service was great!

Robert Schindele

This is the only place I’ve been to where they could get 5 stars and be so outdatedThe atmosphere is amazing The facilities are unique

There are multiple bars all within a short walk of one another with their own drinksThe history and art are accessible and interesting I would highly recommend this place for a stay of a few nights

It is very clean and up to date We had a shower with glass doors- no leakages It had a large vanity with sink separate from toilet and shower

It had a 1/2 wall that separated the bed from the small living room and a wrap around desk ( plenty of counter)I would stay there againWe used points for our reservation since Hilton bought Diamond Resorts A plus for us

Anastasia Petryakov

Honestly, the stay was great Staff was nice, rooms were clean, pool was clean BUT we came from out of state and got our catalytic converter stolen overnight Extremely stressful and disappointing

We parked in the main lot towards the back During the police report we learned this isn’t the first time it happened, maybe getting a security guard for over night lot guard would make the stay more safe for your guests

Brian R

Pros: Fair price Wonderful and friendly staff the rooms were clean and beds surprisingly comfortableCons: The bathroom fan was horribly loud and you have no option to turn the fan offWhen the light is on the fan is on This was really annoying and disruptive

Building needs a little updatingId probably stay here again!

When we got to our room, there was a strong smell of cleaning chemicals We’re sensitive to stuff like that so asked if they could move us and they found us another room with no hassle, no questions The new room was a little smaller but didn’t face Burnside, so quiet and a nicer view

I felt like they really took care of us and were very gracious about doing so It was refreshing to get such nice service and really made our stay fantastic The staff were all friendly and eager to help Really enjoyed our stay

Kathijune Bruyere

Absolutely fun experience for a creative being like myself! We got the Werewolf room and the quote around the room though dizzying to follow is the greatest thing I have seen The art in the room and halls (and I am sure the other rooms as well) gives me a through the looking glass feel The bed is comfortable and clean and the staff/personell are helpful and friendly

Dave Cramton

This place is all about attitude and convenience Tiny rooms and shared bathrooms aren’t for everyone But the rooms are clean, the bathrooms (single occupancy, not dorm style!) are kept clean as well

Provided robes are comfortable and voluminous Typical of McMenamins, everything is funky and stylish Great place to stay if you’re seeing a show just up the block at the Crystal Ballroom Zeus Cafe in the lobby makes a great brunch

We stayed this last week and had an amazing experience The kindness and overall service received from the employees was phenomenal We felt very welcomed and accommodated

It is a beautiful hotel that is clean and well maintained It is located in a nice area with numerous parking garages surrounding the area The only complaints would be that the pool was unexpectedly closed during our stay, and the in room fridge was not working properly I’d definitely stay again!

Anna Berntsen

Beautiful rooms that feature floor to ceiling windows, a mini fridge, and glass shower doors It was very nice that they welcomed me back once they had seen that a was a returning customer It was also great to see that they checked in by text to see hiw my stay was going

The downside was that it was a little dusty and the windows with the amazing view still had the fingerprints of young children However, I don’t blame them for wanting to get as close as possible to that amazing view They did come and bring some new linens upon asking for maid service Great little spot with a fantastic view

Kellen McInerny

Note that I use hotel points to check out this placeThe hotel is really well styled The pool is fancy and kid friendly

The patio provides a cool sunken vibe where you’re safe from the street noise while you admire towering skyscrapersThe location is close to the waterfront But I recommend coming here as a romantic valentine’s day or celebrate an anniversaryAt the time the steam room was out of order But if the sauna, steam room, and pool are all open I would make an effort annually to come here as a local to have a spa retreat from my regular Portland work week

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking your place This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have rooms a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of my favorites in this area

I have been staying here for years If you choose this place you for sure won’t be disappointedMy wife and I had a wonderful time here It’s perfectly located to lots of things to do, there’s a bus stop right outside & a max line just down the street This hotel was great- they had a gear rental space, something I’ve never seen at a hotel There was live music & a cozy courtyard It definitely seemed like it catered to younger people Parking was a bit rough- we had planned on driving over to the east side after checking in, but we had gotten the last spot & didn’t want to lose it I’m glad we didn’t move either, because when we went down to check on the car later at night, there were several cars circling the garage looking for a spot Overall we really enjoyed it & plan on coming back soon

Lacey Kraft

The hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortably modern The staff is welcoming and lovely The rooms are stunning the bed and crisp linens amazing

On the upswing! Stayed a little over a year ago when it was the red lion and again today as holiday inn The location is stellar and I’m so thankful they’ve invested in saving this beautiful property! The area around is rough, but pretty much every area in Portland is in the same situation Bonus here is the kind staff, amenities, location, and VIEW! Rates are reasonable and the rooms have been renovated

Hallways were a bit messy but I’m not surprised given the current hiring situation All staff I interacted with were so friendly! Room was clean and had everything I needed Food (salad) was good, too! Also loved I could bring the pup and had plenty of space to walk her and (again) check out the VIEW! Keep up the good work ❤️

Tari “Ima Wanderer”

Fantastic hotel with very friendly & helpful staff Price varies, as do all hotels, depending on night and season My room was nicely renovated and beautiful

Bar was great, food was limited but beyond delicious! Singh checked me in and she was extremely helpful and absolutely pleasant! My room had been cleaned by Rhonda and was immaculate The river view and path are a delight! Parking lot is fenced in which limits any potential issues and they have security on-site Only a short walk to a ton of stores I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel First time here, and I will be back

Catherine Hàggard

We had a lot of fun at the Holiday inn on Hayden Island We had a beautiful view of the Colombia River They have a pool, which we spent most of our first day in because it was so hot

But the next day was cooler We were close to shopping and lots of restaurants The hotel also has a nice restaurant The rooms have balconies so you can order food and sit outside and look at the view while you have breakfast or lunch The room price was very low for a room with a view Our room was large and very clean with an air conditioner that you can turn up or down when you want If you are going to Portland it’s nice place to stop for a day or two

No maid service the entire 4 day stay They didn’t even empty the trash cans left in the hall Laundry takes quarters and they have no change

Wanted to pay cash for a drink at desk store but it was double charged to the room Bathroom is so small the door can barely clear the toilet to close Every night a different amount was charged to my credit card

idk why it’s making me add a while new review but it was a nice stay, the only issue is after being told there was expired sour cream and other condiments the hotel staff removed them only to have them reappear the next morning :/ makes me leery about the freshness of the other offerings was the breakfast too good to be true? as a reply to the manager for check the sour cream, tell me it didnt expire a week ago +

We had a great stay at the Royal Sonesta The rooms are beautiful, clean, and spacious We stayed in a suite with two adults, two toddlers, and an infant

The decor of the hotel is charming and eclectic while simultaneously feeling modern, clean, and high quality The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, including everyone from the front desk to housekeeping, and overall exceptional service There was valet parking but we arrived Saturday night and we’re able to park for free on the street directly in front of the hotel

Was pleasantly greeted by the expansive lobby complete with chess set and piano, lots of quirky colorful decor We’d booked before 6pm for our King suite room and upon arrival after 10pm found it wasn’t ready The front desk man kindly made it worth our wait and it wasn’t really an issue

For being a large hotel we were not provided with a map to find our room although we figured it out, I just thought that unusual No complimentary amenities besides water and coffee when we’d arrived In the bathroom of our room I found tiny bits of broken glass beneath the sink, likely from one of their provided glass cups having shattered previously There were no instructions for using the jacuzzi, or more importantly draining it so we were only able to use it the once Also I feel the step up to get into the jacuzzi is a wet safety hazard They removed the mini bar/fridge for covid so no where to store our food overnight The beds have no comforter or blanket, and rough sheets We enjoyed the funky decor and despite everything had considered staying another night as we were visiting family My boyfriend requested of the front desk through their text service and was informed by the first AM shift that our room was still available By 9am while we were asleep it was already booked and no alternatives rooms or rates were offered When asked about this we were informed it was a highly sought after room, but being as we were in house and had asked first we were upset they’d give it to someone else so soon We expressed discontentment and were told a manager would reach out to us after check out but this never happened We ended up booking another hotel

We stayed in the hotel for more than a week In nutshell, it was good and the staffs were friendly The carpet was a little bit sticky if you step on it bare foot

Homeless tents, RVs or cars parked at the nearby roads and the problem is increasing there was one burnt car incident nearby during our few day stays It was just 2 of us and we never asked room cleaning during our a week stay Yet we got a $26 charge on our credit card after we left without notice or receipt Not sure what is that for
