I was so impressed with the friendly staff on tge restaurant- Kathy that I decided going forward I would only stay at the Double Tree and eat at the restaurantIf you want excellent food, wonderful service, and to have a true dining experience please check out Axel’s restaurant Also the rooms are amazing!Thank you Axel and Double Tree Hotel… keep up the great job!! 👍

WE HAD A MOUSE in our room! shortly after we arrived as we were getting ready a mouse ran across the room and then ended up going into a hole under the A/C We called the front desk and they sent a gal up with a decorative basket (two giant holes on the side) to catch it They would not upgrade us and almost didn’t give us a new room (They said they didn’t have any clean rooms)

We were late to getting to our event because we had to figure out a solution with the front desk The gentleman that was at the front desk when we finally left for our event had stated that he would move our belongings to a different room once it was clean, did not We arrived back to our hotel about 330am to find out that our things had not been moved and that we didn’t even have a room ready for us to switch too The only saving grace for our stay was that the two gentleman that were at the desk when we came back at 330am were not only apologetic but kind, understanding of our frustrations, fun/funny, and very helpful!

Claire

The first issue was that our toilet overflowed with some kind of soap around 7pm Okay, not a huge deal since we called the front desk and they sent someone to clean it up He was very pleasant

The second and more serious issue was that all night there were people running through the halls screaming 12am, 3am, 5am I imagine they finally went to sleep around 7am when we had to check out We got a babysitter overnight to celebrate my significant other’s graduation from nursing school and got zero sleep I told the front desk about the problem in the morning and they responded with an anecdote about how they once worked in a hotel in Virginia where there was a lingerie party and those individuals were loud? I wish I were kidding, but I am not Extremely uncomfortable interaction and did not help resolve my issue at allI will not be back nor would I recommend this hotel

WARNING- Food safety procedures at the breakfast bar are not safeOverall the hotel was fine Rooms were clean

Ate breakfast from the hot table on the breakfast bar and within 2 hours I was HORRIBLY sick Manager insisted that nobody else had complained Talked to someone else who had stayed at the hotel and eaten the same thing but left town that day and they had also gotten sick when they got home Of course the manager isn’t going to tell you that others complained when someone gets sick on their watchThe price is fine and for the most part the hotel is clean I wouldn’t roll the dice with the hot breakfast anymore

Rachel Bounds

We stay here often They are reasonably priced Rooms are always clean and comfortable

Staff is friendly I just got stranded on a flight in another state They refunded my money 100% two days after I was suppose to have stayed with them, even though I had not canceled in advance This Quality Inn and Suites will continue to get my business!

Convenient location to places we visited over the course of 4 daysBreakfast was less than ideal, but we managed and used it to hold everyone over until brunch The website stated that we would have 2 queen beds, but one of them was a full size bed

When we needed extra items, they were extremely helpful with bringing the items up to our room

Kristi Ferguson

I am not impressed with the staff at all Especially the cleaning staff It’s also entirely too hot throughout the hotel

The faucet in my room broke right away I asked for a clean bed blanket and was told they only had exact amount for each room, so I drove from Roseville to my storage in East Bethel for a blanketI have counted 2 to 3 days where the garbage sits in the hallwaysI’ve also had to call downstairs and was very upset because Housekeeping tried to enter my room without my permission, request or call They never knocked, or announced anythingIt’s bad enough for myself and my family that we have to be here long-term, and now it’s just very depressing

Tom Lennon (HVS Leak Detection)

Front door locked Nobody answered front desk phone to check in Came back an hour later to check in Breakfast was very poor

Out of eggs no meat was served scooped up last bowl of oatmeal Person serving breakfast working at an infuriating slow pace Does not affect me but heard others complain of no coffee Many other hotels in the area Choose another I will

We would have rated the hotel five stars if it had not been for the noise problem with our room Our room was attractive and clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast bar very good However, the occupants in the room above us were excessively noisy for most of our 6-night stay

We talked to the front desk twice during our visit about the noise problem It sounded like there were children running constantly back and forth in their room or jumping up and down on the floor (it appeared that they spent most of their time each day in their room) The hotel staff did get the noise problem taken care of after 10 pm each night with the start of the hotel’s quiet time Oh but before 10 pm, you couldn’t fall asleep due to the thumping and running noise from above On the last night of our stay, we had an extra interruption to our sleep from a barking dog The hotel is pet friendly and allows dogs We were woken up twice by the woofing of a large dog

corky dile

Good/clean beds and rooms, breakfast and workout room were highlights Area around hotel is safe and nice (grocery and restaurant across the parking lot) Front desk was helpful with providing cooking surface and pan Housekeeping was awesome

Had an issue with a room across the hall screaming all night because they were maybe 21 (I think they were 19-20) and it was their birthday (I know this because it was screamed multiple times and when asked to quiet down they responded with “but it’s my birthday”) Im guessing locals got a hotel room to party all night We called the desk twice roughy and hour apart about the noise we could hear everything( screaming, obscenities, arguing) with our door shut down the hall They knew exactly who I was taking about so I’m guessing we weren’t the only ones complaining at 2am We can deal with a little noise understanding it’s a hotel but was not expecting a local drunken party They sent security up and he didn’t really do anything about it just told them there were noise complaints and he was in a rough spot cause his boss wanted the noise to stop but that he understood They proceeded to yell the F word for the next 5 mins threatening to fight people and they just wanted to party Security heard all of this and left so that told us everything we needed to know about the support we would get, so we just stopped calling and got very little sleep that night thankfully it was only 1 night of our 3 night stay It’s a nice hotel besides that and maybe we just got unlucky, but hotel could have done something We will be trying a different hotel for our trips in the future

katherine pellegrino

Similar complaint to the below comment We had been driving for 13 hours only to arrive to an extremely rude and combative employee who had informed us that our reservation had been canceled When asked why he mentioned something along the lines of a “daily audit” and if you arrive after midnight your reservation was canceled and we had to figure out another situation

NOWHERE on the site or on the premise was that policy stated I asked if there was anything that he could do, such as rebook, and he responded that he couldn’t help us and we needed to go somewhere else Fortunately the property right next door had availability and was able to giveus a bed to rest until another 10 hour travel day The next morning I went back to the property and was able to speak with the assistant GM, Brittany, who was a wonderful face of the company and extremely respectful She profusely apologized and refunded the stay that was charged Please get rid of the nightshift employee who is lazy and an zero value-add employee I understand it was a single employee in the wrong but gives me a bad perception of the Hilton brand as a whole and less inclined to book at any of their properties moving forward

It’s in a nice area and only an 8 minute drive from a family members house We have stayed twice for medical appointments for our kids The pool is super cold

The rooms are definitely in need of some TLC They are currently remodeling so I’m sure it will get better The first time we stayed the room was very clean but the second time the room was visibly not cleaned in a few spots and the duvet cover and was stained The breakfast was decent both times We stayed with all 4 of our young children and it’s nice to have options for breakfast that each of them likeWe would consider staying again after the remodel but will be finding another hotel in the meantime

Currently under renovation, but you wouldn’t know before 7:30 any morningStaff was super helpfulProperty inside & out both are very well keptRoom is great, plenty of space, including a desk, seating area, coat hooks as well

The shower & bath are goodRoom has plenty of charging locations, and plenty of lightingThe blackout shade does the job perfectlyI’ve worked in the area many times, but this is my 1st stay wish I’d known before now about this gem!

To the ones who rely so heavily on reviews before making a decision: As an avid user of Holiday Inn I was somewhat skeptical when reading the reviews of this hotel on google but decided to bet on this location knowing it was a corporate owned location While I have allotted for grace of the construction being completed in this review I feel like there are several areas as room for improvement to take this from a 25-3 star hotel and bring it to the high 4 if not 5

The first this was the cleanliness in ALL common areas of hotel the hallways, breakfast areas were never cleaned during our 4 day stay This is something so easily fixed yet no one took the time to do it At one point there was dried blood on the floor in the breakfast area which again to my horror was not cleaned during our stay The next area is the elevator- the way the elevator functioned was unacceptable with catching- it was almost scarier to take the elevator vs the stairs The cleanliness of elevator was nothing short of terrible sticky mess, handprints, visible dirt debris all days of the stay Again I know there was construction but there’s no reason that staff can not clean and mop the elevator at MINIMUM once a day The next was the noise level With the guests that were there during out stay the noise level and “rowdiness” gauge was off the charts It seemed like the staff either made no attempt to stop it or just didn’t care to Either way nighttime was dreaded especially since I was traveling with 2 little kids The other final area of improvement I would suggest is keeping a much closer eye of the freshness of the food During our stay on 7/7 we got some milk with a 7/8 expiration date Upon opening it we quickly realized it was sour and threw it away Yet on 7/8 when we came back downstairs much to my surprise all the milk with the 7/8 expiration date on it was still out When bringing it to staff attention staff notified me that they technically have 5 days AFTER the expiration date to keep it out for consumption YIKES Never have I heard of that and if that truly is the policy it is only opening the door for a food poisoning lawsuit at fault of the hotelWhen it comes to the question of would I stay here again the answer would have to be probably not There’s other options right across the street that I’d be willing to explore before coming backPros:LocationCons:Room Cleanliness, Facilities, Atmosphere

Rooms were good Clean but nothing special We have 5 to our family so we bring a folding mattress with us on trips

We checked in at 7pm and asked for an extra blanket and pillow We were already in bed with the lights out at 1130pm when the extras showed upThere was rarely someone at the front desk My son found a room key on the floor and went to turn it in Nobody aroundBreakfast was subpar Boxed scrambled eggs, not enough other items each of the days we were there and they had one person working Not the worker’s fault but they couldn’t keep up I’d rather save $30 on the room cost and go to the Denny’s in the parking lot

I spent about a month in the hotel on business The staff and housekeeping services are pretty solid I was able to get my room reliably cleaned every week and get a paper from downstairs on the local news

Coffee is available 24 hours, its pretty decent The room had awesome heating, plenty of space and a comfortable bed The gym has a few treadmills, a bike and elliptical and a dumbbell set, yoga mats – all you need to get a good work out inThe hotel does an evening social once a week where they’ve got free beer and snacks which is cool and encouraging I haven’t come across many places that do this but its a great way to network and interact with people especially in times of COVIDThe biggest complaints would be the inconsistently of the room keys, if you can get the app – use it because you’ll find yourself losing the ability to go into the gym, laundry room, pool or even your own room at the drop of a dime The breakfast is edible as long as you stay away from the powdered eggs

Tom Johns

Solid choice for north suburban stays They do one weird thing though , I’ve observed it during every stay in 2022, which is that between 0715 and 1000 each day but especially on weekends, they’ll entirely clean the lobby bathrooms, tiles in front of bathrooms, and even tile floors of first floor exit areas with really slick floor detergent But this is exactly the time of highest foot traffic in all these areas

I’ve witnessed grandmas nearly spill their breakfast coffee trying to maneuver into and out of those bathrooms because it’s like ice I thought it was because staff to do this only worked mornings, but that turns out not to be the case, the same individual creating local slip & slides is still working at 1530 Clean up of these areas should really occur only after 10:30 or so, it isn’t safe unless you’re barefoot and even then I doubt it

Jerry Inderlee

My girlfriend and I spent almost 6 months here and really miss the wonderful staff, the beautiful room, and the way they made us feel right at homeThe front desk, maintenance, kitchen, and environmental services were 10 out of 10!My girlfriend wants to move back lol!Thank you for everything you did for us!

Staff wasn’t very welcoming Not rude, just felt they were going thru the motions SUPER disappointed about the pool being closed! Felt for the price we paid for the 2 night stay it would be available

They kids were NOT HAPPY! Breakfast…disgusting! Warmed up packages!! Coffee was good Rooms comfortable Didn’t know rooms would not be cleaned daily during our stay Another disappointment! Don’t know if I would stay here again if other options were available

Jenna Gilbertson

One of the most hospitable, gracious staff I have ever encountered at a hotel I have stayed at a variety of hotels, but the staff at this one was 5 star + I had called earlier in the week to get an accessible room, and they were so helpful

Then, when I checked out, the person at the front desk remembered that call, and said she had been thinking of us and wondered how it worked out for us Really incredibleA basic, 2 star hotel Comfortable, clean Room had a slight odor when we entered, I sprinkled a little peppermint essential oil and we were good Sidewalks were kept nice a clean after some blowing snow, no concerns about falling in the parking lot

Mark Lundeen

Pretty quiet here because it’s a Sunday night and there is no Vikings game As a result the place was very clean and well maintainedThe only issue was running a leaf blower for the LIGHT snow at 6 o’clock in the morning outside our room

Management should probably pick a less noisier way of blowing snow Like a cordless shovel

Hotel is very clean and updated, staff is friendly and accommodating, they allowed a very late check in, easy to find, super close to northwestern university & they offer a college rate Eggs were about the only diabetic friendly breakfast option but that’s pretty typical, great for a family stay as well as individuals I loved that they have a mini fridge and microwave in the room as well as the pool & gym!! Beds were ok! No real complaints from us!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Robert “b.O.b.” Novak

1) It was a delight to stay (as a frequent business traveler) at a 2* hotel, that acted like a 5* hotel!2) Staff (that I met) actually seemed to enjoy their jobs! And it is great to find people that actually take pride in their work (unfortunately, hard to find, nowadays)!3) Mary (the weekday breakfast hostess), kept immaculate serving & eating areas!!!!4) Hot brk was basic, but complete & satisfying5) Entire facility was excellently cleaned & maintained6) I had a large vehicle to park during my multi-day stay, & staff was super helpful in accomodating my needs

Hotel seems to be priced slightly higher than close-by “equals”, but if you enjoy quality, don’t hesitate to make this your choice!

So after I put our three young children to bed and they were all sleeping

I went to take a shower There were hairballs Everywhere It was absolutely revolting/repulsive and made my skin crawl I wanted to go check the beds my children were sleeping in but didn’t want to wake anyone So as a result, I slept fitfully worried about what other unclean conditions we slept in Management refused to do anything about it the next morning when I reported it and showed them pictures (which I am trying to post on here but they won’t go onto the live review)Anyway – Absolutely disgusting Will not return

Stayed here for a convention My room had bugs Woke up with bites in multiple places

The location was convenient with access the convention center The service is exceptional by some employees The hotel restaurant hosts and servers were exceptional A certain bartender who I won’t name needs some etiquette and costumer service training due to her dismissive behavior The manager did remedy the issue quickly

DON’T PAY STANDARD PRICEFirstly, I had quite a big discount and was able to split the cost with a friend If this wasn’t the case I don’t feel this would be worth itThe foyer is extremely nice and fancy

The facilities are goodRoom was old-fashioned but nice Clean bathroom and room in-generalIf you’re receiving anything it’ll cost $7 per parcel which is one thing that wasn’t advertisedAnother was that they take a $600 security deposit until your stay is over They put a hold on your card I believe which gets released a few days afterAll-in-all it was a nice stay but the standard price is extremely expensive for what you get

This hotel is beautiful and well maintained! The staff in the Cosmos bar in the evening (Angel, Rose, and Greg) were so wonderful and great to talk to The valet staff was superb!! The breakfast staff was attentive and the food was delicious! The entire facility was clean- housekeeping staff does a great job!! I was so impressed with how friendly and helpful every staff member was! Everyone was very professional!

It was a beautiful hotel but they were also hosting professional soccer players and we did not feel we were treated like we were as important as the other guests We arrived for our honeymoon, which was noted in the reservation by our travel agent and we didn’t even hear a congratulations from the staff I would not say that anything was bad, it was a lovely hotel overall but for 4 star accommodations, we will book elsewhere in the future

So, this is supposed to be a higher end hotel Don’t be fooled Initially I was in room 803 with sight lines of the air conditioning systems on the roof just next door

The buzz kept me restless all night The next day I requested a change Now, room 1616 was totally fine Quite, airy, bright all the things you expect Even the shower system was better — multiple body sprays versus one in the lower level room So the disparate room situation aside the doorman at night is a nightmare to deal with A simple question begets sarcasm and riddles Asked if I could park on the street overnight, he told me to read the sign I did Again, is it legal to park on the street, I’m not from here and the sign only says to feed the meter between certain hours In Chicago, street parking is tricky It takes a native to interpret Finally I decide to park for free just outside the hotel doors and pay the meter starting at 8am I saved that $50/night hotel parking fee He was speechless when I approached the hotel with my room key to enter Terrible I wouldn’t stay there again no matter how discounted the rate is The Keurig didn’t work The shower has peeling tape (room 803), the very old bathroom TV doesn’t work and I’m still not sure why it’s situated opposite the toilet, but that’s another story Oh, and Room 803 had broken glass in the bathroom when I checked in Housekeeping had to come clean it up This place is a mess

We used their valet service which was nice We also took advantage of their rooftop spa, this was so amazing It’s a great place for just a special night They are extremely dog friendly so if you have a furry friend bring them along The only downfall, we had horrible service in the attached restaurant We stopped in for a late night drink and a snack in the bar area, our server ignored us the entire time Didn’t bring plates, napkins or silverware with the appetizer we ordered Finally got her attention and asked for napkins (we had ordered cheese curds – greasy – napkin was necessary) she finally sent someone else over after we were done and told them we didn’t need them anymore She was completely engaged with another table showing them pictures on her phone and carrying on a long conversation It was ridiculous

The hotel is beautiful It’s fairly easy to find and pull up front The roof- top hot tub and sky line view were awesome! The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable

We didn’t get a chance to check out the bar/restaurant but they look promising The valet experience could use a little work When paying over $400/night for the room and $48 for valet we were expecting for at least a little help unloading vehicles and bringing luggage to our room When leaving- call plenty early for the valet It took at least a half hour from the time we called to get the vehicle

The Hewing is no doubt a beautiful place to stay and well done for the city However the price you pay for a night doesn’t quite match the quality of what you get unfortunately For a price tag of $420 for a king size city view we were expecting a bigger room, plush hotel towels, robe’s, a more comfortable bed with a waterproof mattress cover that doesn’t make that plastic sound when you move on it, and at least a bottle or two of complementary water

We went up to the rooftop jacuzzi to enjoy the evening and it was right next to the roof top bar, which anyone can get into, so all the bar attendees are watching the hot tubers, it was a very weird and uncomfortable set up Needless to say we didn’t get it Your paying Ritz prices without the amenities

Especially appreciate the dog-friendly policy Very welcoming to visitors traveling with pets Location is convenient to many downtown destinations

Adjacent ground level parking lot Staff helpful and polite Common areas were clean and pleasant My only complaint is that we were not notified upon check-in that we needed to request housekeeping services, so we were disappointed to return from a day of sightseeing to a room which had not been cleaned

I would not recommend a stay here, primarily due to rude and incompetent staff We had to get our keys reprogrammed each day as 3 different employees seemed to only know how to program them until 1:00 pm

the next day They then lied to us that we must have been putting the cards next to our phones Both cards held by different people stopped working at the same time with each set we got And neither was keeping the card anywhere near their phones We then encountered people in the elevator that had to the same thing happen to them each day, and also encountered rude staffThis hotel is listed as a “plus”, but does not include the basics They do not have a complimentary breakfast, there is not a microwave in most rooms, a safe was in the location above the fridge where the microwave should have been This was extremely inconvenient, and added extra costs on an already quite expensive hotel nightly rateVery disappointed

The room was nice love the tiny kitchenette and the bedroom being separate but, that’s where the fun ends I spent two nights and it cost me over 60000 which is way more then I could afford but it was our anniversary

Restaurant is way overpriced for the food I ordered room service got two drinks, a burger, a dinner with a very small piece of meatloaf, two oysters, 4 bite sized donuts with cold chocolate syrup and two deviled eggs, they charged me 17000 I didn’t even get the fries that was supposed to come with the burger What’s worse is the food was cold The hotel charged 1200 a day for parking I was told nothing about being charged for parking when I checked in Got a few drinks at the bar drinks were between 1000-2000 each It was 1000 just for a shot They didn’t even give you a receipt so you could at least see what you were getting charged for The man that works overnight is very eude I was trying to ask questions he kept walking away not listening and kept saying theywill help you when you check out I wanted a detailed receipt of everything we got charged but all he said is when you check out I mean that’s fine I can wait till I check out it’s the tone of voice and the way he acted

Our stay was amazing from check in to check out! When checking in we were made aware of large group of hockey kids staying It did not bother us one bit but was nice they let us know The room was beautiful and clean! The shower was hot and had great water pressure! The staff and chef were AWSOME

Friendly and helpful! My omelet was delicious! We will definitely stay here again when visiting the kids! Thank you so much for a great stay!!!

Three stars because the front desk staff is phenomenal and work hard to do the very best to make guests feel welcome Avoid the place like the plague if there is a hockey tournament going on, the running up and down the hallways and noise was ridiculous The breakfast is an overpriced poor quality “meal” you would be better off stopping at the Holiday gas station and getting some snacks

Zak RL

Don’t stay here unless you have no other options Walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING in the room next to you All the doors slamming at 1am was ridiculous

Our room was clean and somewhat modern but all the doors stick and you really have to yank them hard to shut them Beds were comfortable but the pillows were super flatThis place also offers ‘breakfast’ but that’s a complete joke They charge $14 for a “hot breakfast” or $10 for anything else They would literally look at you with a straight face and ask you for $10 for a bowl of cheerios What?!? Just go to the holiday gas station across the street for a cheaper and better breakfast

Really nice hotel, our stay was great! Lots of bright colors, the hallways were yellow

it was fun & cheery The breakfast was very good, lots of choices and 12pm check-out is the best! The pool is pretty tiny but we had our two young children with us and no one was ever in it, so it was perfect for us We spent everyday of our trip in it and the hot tub Everything was clean and the front desk people were very helpful Had a nice stay, thank you!

I’ve had great staff experience in the last 3 years I been coming to this hotel Didn’t have that experience this time, looks like a newer staff Was very short, not professional kind of like I was a friend to her, casual carefree attitude

Was checking me in but conversing with guests waiting behind me but not me Not up to the Marriott standard

Rue Wei

I didn’t sleep well because I can hear people talking and music playing through the wall I didn’t get to enjoy the breakfast because the breakfast time starts too late I hope the breakfast time starts earlier like 5am or at least have other options out for guests

I checked out the hotel and waited in the lobby for about ten minutes waiting for my ride When I got on the car, the manager came out stared at me intensely When we rolled down the window he told me that he thought I just walked passed him without checking out Super creepy

Hotel room is huge! Nice warm pool and huge hot tub! Adults only in pool from 10pm-12am! I’ve never heard of a pool being open so late! There is a secret passage way to a bar/restaurant off the second floor There are arcade games, pool, darts, ax throwing (to come), and a bowling alley! Couldn’t ask for much more to keep the teens entertained

We stayed there last Saturday for my daughters birthday When we arrived we were told the water slide was out of order ( one of the reasons we decided to stay there) Then we tried to go bowling and there was bowling tournaments going on all day

So we decided to go to the arcade and eat dinner No food available and only a few games worked I booked this stay in advance and was never sent an email or anything stating these issues It was really fun having to disappoint a group of kids that were looking forward to the things that the hotel was said to offer Please update your website to show accurate accommodations

We really enjoyed our stay while here for Back to the Fifties The reason I give 2 stars for service has nothing to do with the staff All staff was friendly but they no longer clean the rooms which is apparently because of COVID but this means you have to go to the front desk for garbage bags, clean towels etc

Also the waterslide was out of order while we were there but they do have that stated clearly on the website The attached restaurant had good food but was dealing with staffing issues Several members of our party enjoyed the bowling alley one evening It was reasonably priced and they could bowl all they wanted until 10:00PM We will try them again for Btt50s next year and I will update my review at that time!
