Ken was very nice and we had long conversation with him about many places and thingsThe absolute only drawback is there was no kitchen towel or dishcloth However there was paper towels, dishsoap and a scrubber padEverything was super clean and fresh smellingGreat location! Will more than likely have an opportunity to stay here againHighly recommend this if you are in the area

The Location is a 6 In/out of the parking lot can be a bit scary, especially in a full sized truck But, being able to park right across from the locks, and right downtown is perfect

The room itself was okay It’s an old motel that has had some upgradesthat aren’t necessarily well executed I can forgive the windows/doors that are a bit drafty, and the lack of lighting and plugsBut, with a little work; better linens, towels, beds, increased focus on cleaning, and a bit more maintenance and you would have a sell our gem

The rooms are really small and had cobwebs and dirt around baseboards Sheet was white but very dirty looking Towels were very thin and felt like sandpaper

Had to go to Walmart and get towels Soap in bathroom was about the size of a quarter Very noisy could hear people talking in the room next door Would never recommend this place to anyone Way overpriced!

We didn’t stay at the hotel, my daughter and I went there for my birthday dinner My family and I have gone there since the place opened up (until Covid) as we used to own cottage property in Brimley until we sold it I was drooling for the buffet, only to be disappointed that it wasn’t available anymore

Just off the menu, which was very small compared to the old one, but thought we’d try it anyway When we got our meals, the prime rib was overdone and very fatty and gristly The lake trout could have been cooked a little longer, and the potato wedges were nothing like the picture in your advertising We were not even asked if we wanted dessert For the amount of food we got, I felt it was very costly as well We will not return Very sad feeling!

Bed bugs discovered in numerous locations throughout room (second floor) Normally I inspect the room as soon as possible but unfortunately I had to rush out for a meeting and couldn’t until I returned that nightAfter discovering the bed bugs (and yes these were absolutely 100% bed bugs) I looked at the hotel reviews and noticed a post from ~ 3 weeks prior in which a guest brought forth their experience with bed bugs

I was extremely disappointed to see that the “owner” had responded directly to that post but questioned if the guest had actually stayed during that time instead of actually ADDRESSING the issue of the bed bugsInstead of handling this professionally and resolving this KNOWN ISSUE the owner apparently decided to not take the previous review serious, which resulted in my discovery of bed bugs and a huge headache of dry cleaning/laundry/heat treatment of all of my itemsTo be clear – I realize these things can be out of control of the staff but once a guest brings forth issues with bed bugs AND PROVIDES PHOTOS/VIDEOS it should be addressed so that future guests like myself don’t encounter that

I have been less than impressed with Hampton recently They don’t clean your room unless specifically requested The refrigerator was off on arrival

The air conditioning turned off in the middle of the night and the thermostat had to be set again Their breakfast included turkey sausage that was disgusting and the eggs were cold

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel Yes as some people noted it is dated However the location can’t be beat – you can be at the locks viewing platform in minutes

It was clean, shower was hot with great water pressure, comfortable mattress and pillows Front desk team were nice and helpful No breakfast, but the fridge in the room was a decent size and I prefer to bring my own anyway No pool or hot tub but that was important to me

Sammy’s Dad

Overall a nice stay Beautiful building and the gentleman that checked us in was great The website states this as a full service hotel but it simply is not at this time

No breakfast, No pool, No Valet, etc The rooms are nice but very spartan and worn pretty badly I had three blinds in my room and not a one worked However, I slept well, the place was very clean, and I felt very safe A solid 3!

We had a negative, unpleasant experience and our group of three can all agree on the fact that we will not be returning once more We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 PM and asked to book a ‘Studio Room,’ which we were offered by the receptionist at the front desk We were intrigued by the thought of looking up at the sky in a dome, and we were looking forward to our stay with Ojibway

The receptionist kept making comments- such as “duh” and lied to us about checking in at the time we were supposed to Three hours after making a reservation we returned after a little tour around Sault St Marie only to find out that our room had never been booked About 30 minutes later the receptionist had left the business to a young male who was working his shift, and an older female as well We had told the young male about our reservation and his excuse to not receiving our rooms turned out to be, “we have no staff and a hockey team is reserving the restaurant It will take around 25 minutes I am not a housekeeper, but I can clean the room”40 minutes later, and the room is finally finishedWe walked into the room with high expectations considering we spent 7 hours on the road and 5 hours trying to get inOur day in Sault St Marie was wasted because of this place The room felt tiny and did not smell fresh and the beds were full-sized beds when we were told by the receptionist that we were getting a queen-size bed We checked their website and they do not offer queen sized beds We did not get a studio room and if we did, their idea of a studio room is basically a children’s playhouse On top of this, we suddenly looked over into the bathroom and we see pubic hair lying all over the place In the corners, on the sink, and even in the bathtub How unsanitary When we called the front desk to resolve the issue, the same young boy who cleaned our room by hand walked in to clean the bathroom once again We knew he tried his best to accommodate our needs, and he was in our trust to make it better But before he left, we heard the toilet flush and he ran out of the room with the cleaning supplies, without saying a single wordSo when we checked the bathroom, there was still pubic hairIt wasn’t going away and that was when we knew for sure we had to goThe person who checked us out, Zach, was very accommodating and was very attentive to our situation He was nice enough to offer us a refund paid in full cash, and before finding out all of the rooms had been currently booked he offered to give us a free stay The spunky young boy who tried to accommodate us at the start had attempted to give many excuses as to why there were no staff to clean the room Yet when we were walking out of our room we saw a housekeeper cleaning a room She looked fairly stressed as wellMay we also mention that they offered us food the hockey players left from the buffet cold pasta, cold sauces and stale chicken The bread looked raw and germs were probably flooding the silverwareSome employees did try, we know they did… but a hotel who really cared about their guests wouldn’t come off as somewhere people don’t look forward to going Please review the reviews before ever picking a place to stay It will be your best option, guaranteed

We previously stayed at Plaza Motor Motel for a night and fell in love immediately- a beautiful and comfortable little place! Each room is designed differently with a unique and fancy flair that makes you feel like you’re somewhere special! The rooms have always been clean, with the beds having protective coverings to ensure health and tidiness, to the harmonious flora and decorations outside the motel that make you feel relaxed and refreshed after long days of traveling Integral accommodations as well as the outside lounging area that you can tell is genuinely cared for and has the guests’ comfort in mind There is no in-house breakfast but it’s okay because it encourages you to go out and explore local options! It’s a great and pretty stay that I recommend to anyone! Don’t miss out if you visit the area! (pricing is pretty good too!) Thanks Plaza Motor Motel!

I book this place sight unseen so I was a little leery, but to my surprise it was just perfect I really can’t say enough good about it The flower gardens were just beautiful, with such a wide variety of flowers

The rooms were very clean and comfortable They did not skimp on anything The bed and pillows were very comfortable The TV, lamps, bathroom fixtures, and furniture were very nice as well The Greeting Travelers plaque on the wall really touched both of us And last but not least the owner was very nice and welcoming Rigley his dog was so cute, but we checked in during his nap so he wasn’t all that thrilled to see us, ha ha ha! We are from Florida but if we are ever so blessed to be able to come back to the Upper Peninsula again, we will definitely stay here again

Taylor’s warm smiling welcome as I entered the shop even with being very busy answering phones and helping customers with Last Resort customers Highly recommend both places right on the river

We spent 3 nights here, and enjoyed it immensely The room was clean!! This is very important to me, and the bed comfortable They have a microwave, and a small refrigerator

The caretakers were very friendly and accommodating Giving us directions for scenic routes for our motorcycle outings, and restaurants They have a nice outdoor area with table, and grill, and had just added bicycles to their list of amenties You are very close to the Soo locks The StMary’s river is across the street you can watch the freighters as they go by from the parking lot, and room window The rates were very reasonable We will definitely stay there again

The location is perfect! I loved being within walking distance to the Locks, shopping, and dining The staff was very friendly and gave us great recommendations for restaurants We ended up eating at Lockview twice because the food was so good

Our room was recently renovated and was very cute and clean Rates were more than reasonable given the location and room quality Would definitely stay here again

LaShonda Green

It was nice, location wise, but the room was poorly cleaned between stays There was dog and human hair everywhere The clerk said they didn’t allow pets, but someone managed to sneak one in

There was a strange wet spot on the floor, not sure from where and there may have been some black mold on the bathroom floor The room was very out dated The clerk was quick to change the bedding or give us a refund to stay somewhere else, which she lied about not having a double bed room available There was one 3 doors down that was vacant and the windows were open As soon as we were leaving, she hurried to clean the room before we even got out of the parking lot Will definitely spend a little more money for a more updated motel intown or a main chain out of the city

Michael Pattison

Our room definitely needs some work The room had a bad musty smell The drop ceiling was bowing and apparently had leaks at one time

The coffee maker cord didn’t reach the outlet so we had to set it on the floor to plug it in and brew coffee The shower water would randomly go to really hot or really cold for no apparent reason The bottom of the main door entrance had a at least a quarter inch gap at the bottom of it Not good because bugs would crawl through it and into our room It was really hot the day we arrived and they didn’t have the ac or the fridge turned on in our room so it took a few hours for our room to cool down and the fridge as well The staff was nice but the hotel obviously needs alot of updates Will not be staying there again

We loved staying here at the RV Park Would be great if they would give us a proper placemarker for our spot, as the last 2 times our spot has been stolen by other people with no change or repurcussions (As in, the spot stealer takes our ticket down and puts their ticket with the wrong number up, but they get to keep the stolen spot anyway

)We pay for a specific spot that we chose when we arrived It is First Come First Serve except it is not, and apparently it is just a free for allIf you leave for anything, someone will take your PAID for spot Staff prioritizes the spot stealer and we are forced to move despite having picked that spot and stayed there for days This has happened 2 years in a row!Not sure that I want to come back with the stress this causes And I will no longer be recommending this location Very sad about this and hope to update this if we are presented with a proper, respectful solution

Total waste of my health, sanity, and that of my children’s as well The security here did not protect my family Then they charged me for a whole extra night’s stay when we didn’t even stay after what happened which I won’t go into detail

But if your a female be safe here, don’t go to the bathroom alone after you have a drink, because the security here won’t watch or care for your safety They don’t care about the safety of their guests, nor their childrenI would never stay here ever again I will never return here unless it’s to get a refund for my night I didn’t stay here when my court proceedings start

Anthony Lummen

The pool closes at ten all the games in the game room are either broken or steal your money The TV is small, the beds SUCK!!! They’re not pet friendly however to did not turn away our service dogs

our daughter looked out the window and said “it looks like a fancy Walmart parking lot” do not waist your time or moneyfor $210 for one night is absolutely atrociousI get better rooms for WAAAAYYYY less at nicer hotels in Vegas

A clean, decently appointed room There was a fridge, microwave, desk with chair and 2 additional chairs in the room as well as 2 bedsPros: The water pressure in the shower is AMAZING!! Like, super fantastic

The room was clean The front desk folks were friendly The hotel has a restaurant in it that will deliver to your room Super close to the mall and local tourist haunts Breakfast is included with your stay Pet friendly hotelCons: There is no ability to control the temperature in room other than opening the little window The heater says to use the control on the wall, but when I turned it on, nothing I also didn’t see anything in the room specifying what could be ordered at the restaurant, but I also didn’t go through the drawers so I may have just missed it They are not providing housekeeping right now due to CovidOverall: I would stay there again

Shari & Eric Vaillancourt

I booked a king size bed because I have a child and she can sleep in the middle of my husband and I safely When we got there, we were told we could only have two queen beds despite booking a king and a complete disregard for the safety of my child There was also three people waiting, me being the second, when I was checking in, but the clerk helped person 1 and 3 and skipped me with a screaming child late at night past her bedtime which was very rude

The hotel is located on the side of a street so the location isn’t the most ideal but you get covered parking so that was a plus The rooms were clean and there was a nice breakfast in the morning

Achal Dharia

Pros: Front desk was helpful and breakfast was averageCons: Initially booked king suite but due to poor lighting in room, air conditioning way away from the bed and 80’s deco we requested to change our room In return they gave us two double bed room Next morning they upgraded our room to queen size bed with jacuzzi bath in room

Jacuzzi drain was not working and cabinet lights burnt out We were tired of changing room again and again and so we checked out next morning
