Room was a pretty simple and standard and normal motel roomThe dive site was a lot of fun and convenient and the staff was excellently helpfulOur tanks were refilled minutes after we got out of the water then being able to rinse our gear and warm up in the hot tub under the moon light made for a fantastic time

Will likely be coming to stay with them again!

~This review concerns the newly renovated rooms and ownership~Loving the renovated rooms and can’t wait till they renovate the kitchenette ones The new owner is awesome and super helpful and is really dedicated to making the place awesome Had a Scuba open water class this past weekend and can’t wait till the new dock gets approved and installed! The old boat that was there is now an underwater wreck (yay)

As always, really good air fills on site!!

My wife and I have stayed at Sunrise Resort several times now and our visits have always exceeded our expectations If your looking for a Hilton-type experience, this is not for you If your looking for a hotel in a beautiful place that feels like a cabin in the woods, this is the place

If your a diver, this is a great place to dive and then relax in the hot tub There are several sunken boats to see and a map to help locate them There are a lot of dive schools that use the resort so its good to call 4-6 weeks ahead of time to book a room They provide tank fills on-sight and there is a dive shop close by The room we like is maby 40ft from the stairway leading into the water The owners are always attentive to our needs and ensure that our stay is the best it can be They are working on remodeling the hotel to make it more modern but I love the feel of the older rooms The only con is the parking You must really be careful pulling in and out of the parking spaces We plan to continue staying and diving at Sunrise Thank you for always making us feel comfortable and welcome

We were there Mother’s Day Weekend 2022 I hadn’t stayed at Alderbrook since 2018 and I was a little apprehensive how things would be with all that’s happened with the pandemic I shouldn’t have worried- we had a wonderful stay

The room was impeccably clean We had a King Courtyard Suite with a window suite and a view of the water through the trees It was really lovely The linens were great quality and the mattress was super comfortableWe were able to have dinner and breakfast right at the resort even on Mother’s Day weekend when it was very busy They are currently remodeling the restaurant so the seating was a little creative- but the food was solidWe loved lounging and reading in the lobby in front of the fire with the cats and sitting down on the water watching the boats go byI wish I’d written down the names of all the folks who helped us With everyone so understaffed we weren’t expecting much but the service from the front desk to the restaurant to maintenance was SO friendly and hospitable We are already talking about when we can come back!

The customer service is outstanding! They made us feel so well from the moment we stepped on the property The staff tryout our stay was very friendly, very helpful and with a great smileThe room was very clean and spacious

The beds and the pillows are very comfortableThe pool was clean and not crowded The saunas were amazingThe food – OH, the food! Every dish we had was spot on Great taste and magical flavorThe cocktails were Good! The kids enjoy scavenger hunting tryout the property Our stay was very pleasant, happy and relaxed, looking forward to doing it again soon

Amazing stay at the Alderbrook! Felt luxurious without being in your face about it The grounds are stunning and it was so much fun being so close to the water and having access to water sports/equipment rental (kayak, paddleboard, etc) We even got to spot several seals with their pups early in the morning

We stayed at Alderbrook when it was supper sunny and hot, which was great for taking advantage of the beach (it was during a heatwave, but our room was equipped with a portable a/c unit which worked fine) I think they do a great job of catering to all – families, couples, and even business travelers (they have meeting rooms and I saw one taking place during my stay) They have fun activities planned throughout the day for all The bed was a tad bit small but comfortable The restaurant was really good, we had dinner there and really liked it We only stayed one night and wish we could’ve stayed more but hotel was fully booked so make sure to book early! There are two resident cats in the lobby area, and surprisingly a bird nest in the hallway to our room too There were so many areas to hang out across the resort that I really do wish we had more time

There are many homeless people around the area, but they tend to not bother you I assume if you do have an issue with it, it could create an uncomfortable feeling for you The rooms are spacious, they have exactly what you need for a few day stop give or take

Microwave and fridge is all included The staff is tremendous, if you’re looking for somewhere to stop and feel like people care about your needs and care enough to create comfortable environment on your stay away from home This is the place! The breakfast is wonderful and easy to grab on your way out! It is located right off the freeway, so if the noise of traffic tends to keep you awake I would ask for a room away from the street The rates are pretty fairly priced, safe to say you get exactly what you pay for if not a little more I would recommend this place! And stay here again myself!

sandra redden

The hospitality is amazing An amazing group of people who work very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible and then some! An amazing place to stop if you just need a nice hotel room, for a stop on your trip, even a weekend getaway And their location is fairly close to many lovely places to see throughout Lacey/Olympia area

15 minutes from downtown Olympia, and roughly 20 minutes from the marina area If I could recommend them to everyone who stops in the area I would! I don’t think you’re gonna find better customer service anywhere around her

Ben Sang

I don’t recommend this place and Super 8 next door We found that the building is getting quite old and the room smells a bit The bathroom is very tight the toilet almost hitting the door

Water pressure is low Bed sheets had some brownish spots Sound insulation is not good enough Not enough seating in the breakfast area The location is convenient but some homeless people sleeping in the bush and walking around the area feels less desirable The remote control for the tv was not working properlyFoe the price I paid, I think it is better to pay 20 or 30 dollars more for the better ones around the areaBreakfast itself wasn’t bad and the cleaning condition wasnt bad either just bad sheets and things are old Helpful front desk as well

My daughter and I stayed at this resort this past week for a couple days The check in was very easy and well organized and the owners were amazing during our stay The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for a couple nights

He little details were wonderful-the little basket with a nice selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and condiments for all were there Very nice touches Please if you get the chance to stay or drive through town stop here you will not be disappointed We will be going back!

Candace Hendrickson

We went to celebrate our 19yr anniversary and plan on making this our anniversary trip every year This place, for us, was magical!! We stayed in cabin #2, one of the original cabins, and I literally felt like I had stepped back in time to my godmother’s cabin up at Tahoe( which I last stayed at when I was 6yrs old) Part of me wants to encourage everyone to come here and part of me doesn’t want to let others in on the “secret” if this magical place

Thanks again for a wonderful experience & we will definitely be back again

Was told I had to park in the lot at $10+ tax Turns out street parking was free between 5pm and 8am so that would have worked fine for me Bottled water is $5, which is straight up highway robbery

I could hear footsteps above me until that person went to bed Was asked by staff “what brings me to town” which is an annoying disingenuous question and frankly none of their business, kind of like when the cashier at wholefoods asks what your plans for the weekend arePrice was ~$180 There were no bedbugs and the room smelled fine Toilet was cleanI mean if you didn’t do your homework to find a good Airbnb ahead of time and you need something last minute in downtown Olympia, this is what there is It’s not bad It’s not great Bring earplugs and check out the street parking before you decide to pay to use their lot

Michael Longo

This hotel is in a serious state of disrepair The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years There is blood on the walls

The ottoman in living room is torn up The curtains are filthy Half the rooms in the building are tented and are being gutted The website advertises having electric vehicle charging and the front desk informed us there isn’t charging and that they need to update the website On top of that parking costs $10 a day which is a joke I am just getting back into staying with Hilton and this is leaving a really bad impression Tried to use the online chat feature on Hiltoncom to voice concerns and was told they can’t do anything since I was already checked in You can’t take feedback on a property after some is checked in? What a joke I have a lot of travel booked with Hilton this year, but I might need to start going back to Marriott after this

Alexandra Parrott

The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the front desk staff I’ve stayed here three times this year and the last time I just decided not to give it another chanceWhile the staff is very friendly and helpful, the last time we stayed we had to switch rooms twice

Construction starts early in the morning and is so loud it wakes you up Heater was broken in the second room But worst of all, the shower is terrible Luke warm at best, water pressure sucks and the shower head sprays everywhere The design of the shower makes it so you have to walk in and stand under the water just to turn it on, so you get sprayed with cold water Parking $10 a day, as others have mentioned If I can’t have a hot shower, and can’t have peace and quiet because of construction, why would I stay here?

I booked two nights due to an emergency relocation of living quarters and break up I feel safe due to the front door being the only entrance, the staff have been kind and friendly The room was bigger then i anticipated and clean

Not too hot when you walked in and didn’t hear any noise from other guest Plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower! Breakfast, such as it has been since covid protocols, was ready and visually pleasing James, the night guy, had the coffee hot and ready before dawn! I’d recommend a stay here if your in town looking for a rest spot!

John Burns

The hotel was ok, and the room appeared clean The TV worked and the AC worked tooThe lady at the front desk was very nice and apologetic about our not being ready at 2:15

The bed was worst bed I have slept on in years, but the wort part was the bug my wife found in our bed in the morning

Mark Bueermann

Our room was not ready when de arrived They tried to give us a room that was not made We complained to the owner and finally got a somewhat mclean room

There was hair on the bathroom floor and no extra TP The owner Space did not honor the original rate and added $14 to my bill I complained but he just laughed at me Dont ever shay here The place is dirty, unkept and Space is clueless in how to run a motel

Customer service is everything to me And they did not disappoint 👏 over the phone booking was warm, helpful, friendly Once I got there I ended up needing to make changes to my reservations and it was taken care of

I forgot my kid’s favorite shoes and I sent them a postage paid label and Ashley is mailing them back The lady taking care of breakfast was so sweet too The room was clean, lots of pillows Some minor cosmetic things like a bit of peeling ceiling paint in the bathroom if that is a big deal to you I would definitely again

Allona Shields

The gentleman who checked us in, Cal, was pretty dang cool! He was definitely more a person with a job than a robot with a job, which made the stay more comfortable There was another lady at the check in counter, I’m unsure of her name but she was just as relaxed and cool as Cal was They were both very helpful and were just hands down immediately willing to help with any requests we had, like borrowing a phone charger or corkscrew

The rooms were nice and clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable It was nice returning after long days

MMI – Private

My main issue is that the AC can only be on or off – it doesn’t restart automatically, which means you have to choose between being too warm or too cold while you sleep The room and hallways are smelly, which probably means the carpet hasn’t been cleaned in a long time The breakfast was disappointing

I was also unimpressed and concerned with the fact that our receipt had been left in front of the door outside our room, which contains our name and address They should slide it completely under the door or just not leave it there at allOn the plus side, the staff is excellent and the pool/hot tub are nice to have

DO NOT STAY HERE!This is not a regular motel and seems to mostly be occupied by homeless/transitional people We arrived after 6:00 PM and were told our room was not ready because the previous people took too long to check out That should have been a huge red flag, but we were hungry and tired from driving

We went out to eat and returned a couple of hours later The room was cleanish, but it appeared that they had kicked somebody out to give us the room The fridge was full of someone’s food (milk, eggs, etc) We had a couple of people knocking on the door looking for someone elseThey had already taken payment when we first arrived, and it was too late to find another hotel, so we did stay Beds appeared clean but were not super comfortable There was no door on the bathroom We were worried that our car might get broken into Luckily, it was ok, but I would never stay here again The staff should be disclosing what kind of place this is when people reserve

Tanya Brno

** This is a homeless transitional facility, which needs to be disclosed to travelers prior to check in **There is no mention of this fact on the website, no mention when calling the front desk to book, no mention on the travel booking site’s listing pageThere is a no refund policy, which seems deceitful after the above information is discovered upon check in

I booked this as a last resort as all the other hotels were full I was greeted to an array of run down vehicles in the parking lot, tweakers and suspicious characters coming/going, running around knocking on doors, one guy eyeing my car as I unloaded my belongings and dog The room smelled like old cigarettes and was not fully cleaned I didn’t feel safe leaving my belongings or my dog there and immediately checked out I didn’t want to find out what it was like in the middle of the night as a solo female traveler This left me in a very stressful situation, scrambling to find a last minute place for my special needs dog while I had to work that day I was refunded 50% but really this whole situation could have been easily avoided with some up front honestyDo not stay here

mikahrayne

The check in person was nice but the checkout person was very rude I have never experienced awful customer service in my life Floors were dirty and my feet were black after walking on it for a minute

Uncomfortable beds and noisy, but you get what you pay for Just make sure to not have high expectations and to not wash your body or it be considered a damaged item Such as a towel and charged for it when it would come clean

The good reviews here are well-founded We checked in around 10:30 pm with four children Although there were no available parking spaces left near the entrance, the receptionist (Otillia) kindly moved her car to open up a space, which made the unpacking much easier

We had interactions with about four other staff members, all of which were entirely pleasant

Their service was amazing from the get go! The wife and I had a late check in and were welcomed by the night clerk feeling like we were at home She told us about close by 24 hour restaurants around if we were hungry as well as the option of getting something in the hotels food shop if we were too tired from the drive along with the continental breakfast We loved how genuine and helpful she wasThe room itself was cozy and satisfied our needs with a comfortable bed (unlike a lot of other hotels) and necessary toiletries

The breakfast was amazing for being a free breakfast There were various options including eggs, cereal, sausage, make-your-own waffles 😍 Muffins and toast were available among others I can’t fully rememberAgain, we appreciate the night clerk for making us feel welcomed especially so late in the night I apologize for how terrible I am with names

Talon Windwalker

Room was comfy, though AC unit was quite loud Really didn’t notice any noise from neighbors which was nice Breakfast was pretty decent, and coffee was better than usual at a hotel

Staff were quite friendly and helpful WiFi was good during the night but completely went down the next day I left early in the morning so not sure when it came back up Location is pretty good Close to lots

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!My family & I have stayed here from time & time for over 10 years Out of all my stays here, I’ve never experienced the most unpleasant stay The day shift staff is polite & helpful

But the GRAVE SHIFT LADY (KIMBERLY) has a very distasteful attitude My first night stay, I walked in without a mask, as I did not have one (knowing the front desk will provide one for guests) and KIMBERLY asked if I had a mask Told her, sorry I didn’t have one and she told me TO GET OUT AND GO FIND ONE! Now, I know masks were required but is that how you respond to your guests? Instead of replying in an unkind manner I then asked her if she can provide me a mask and I was told, they are not supposed to provide us with one When all the other staff were cordial enough to hand out masks to guests that did not have one Our next night stay, my sister asked KIMBERLY for a mask & told my sister she doesn’t have any masks for her That she needs to get out if she doesn’t have one She claimed my sister was being nasty with her So what should your customer service be called? SMH! We will NOT be staying here again She made our stay uncomfortable & did not make us feel welcomed We don’t know what people are going through but if your having negative attitudes then you should not be greeting guests & making your guests feel low spirited KIMBERLY needs a major attitude adjustment!!!! And La Quinta needs to step up!!!

Only go there if you want to feel Cecil HotelOn 3-12-22, I checked in with my 2 kids after a long day traveling, and we had selected a non smoking room for 3 nights Specifically non smoking and paid extra for an upgrade so it’s a larger room

We get to the hallway and we started feeling uneasy and tightness from the condition of everything, then we get to the room and we were shocked The smoke was almost fresh and everything smelled tobacco Even the air coming from the vent was moldy and hot We couldn’t change the temperature of the room it was 1 temperature that wouldn’t change no matter what you do with the thermostat The room was too small and not upgraded Having an asthma I had a hard time breathing there and although we were completely exhausted, we started looking for another hotel, so we don’t end up in the hospital The paint was pealing, the air vent was moldy, the window wouldn’t open to get fresh air, the bed plywood is exposed and you could hurt your leg walking by it, many damages in the walls, bathroom counter I immediately talked to Danielle at the reception and asked her if there were other options because that was not what I booked First she said yes, then she said “it’s all going to be the same It’s an old building and the temperature doesn’t change” After some give and take with her, she said that there was nothing else she could do I said Alright then we are going to another hotel, and I asked for my refund She said to call the agency I booked through and they will refund me All that was done within 20-30 minutes We move on and go to another hotel, straight to bed exhausted She even had the guts to charge another $60 from the card we put on file, but Capital One Venture was quick to charge it back After we returned home I called the agency – Chase Travel, part of Chase bank – and told them what happened, they communicated with the hotel but the hotel refused to refund me I feel my kids and I were abused and lied to, and illegally charged money for no service, and misleading advertisement I ask for my money to be refunded We filed a complaint with BBB and we may also be considering legal action

Love this old hotel It used to be called the Governor, and is still referred as so by the locals The elevators used to be slow but they have been upgraded

(Thank heavens)The rooms are clean and nice I have stayed at the governor many times and recommended it to friends and family If possible I try and get the top floor or two facing Capital Lake

Positives: Front desk and breakfast staff/breakfast were excellent Beds and linens fine Room was clean

Free parking Neutral: Location convenient to Capitol, downtown, waterfront, and homeless folks Negatives: High price for (poor) quality Hotel is dingy, rundown, in need of total renovation Room was 83 degrees upon check-in and air conditioning was ineffective; we had to request a fan Tub finish worn off and very stained Faucet leaked continually Hallways smelled stale Room windows needed cleaning No room service even though “Do Not Disturb” sign was taken down before 10 am No tv info/instructions Only one hanger provided Freezer in room fridge needed defrosting

Our room was disgusting!! There was dirt smeared on the walls, the bathroom was rusted and dirty The chairs in the room were basic folding chairs The place felt cold and unwelcoming

Also did not feel safe staying there There door was banged up and dented We decided to leave and stay elsewhere Didn’t even ask for a refund, as they stated they do not give refunds after check-in (so this must happen a lot!) We just left, didn’t even care about the lost money because it was so bad! I don’t typically write reviews, but wanted other to be aware of these things!!

The owner or manager could barely speak English And the rooms were cold in musky I ended up having to leave not even an hour after I checked in cuz I had a family emergency and the dog that was with me it was his first time and he didn’t like all the noise people running around upstairs so I asked if I could get credit for the room or a refund and the owner said no absolutely no $150 down the drain

Sink and shower didnt drain Cleanliness overall was okIf you dont speak the owners language, asian something, dont expext any help

Out of tp, as you started with only a partial roll– you are out of luckif after 9 pm, as office is closed Need towels and still toilet paper in morning, have fun trying to communicate what it is you need I finally figured out he wanted dirty towels from the room before he would give you any more clean towels I had to go back and get them!! You must need to request maid service daily? Or you dont get any No daily coffee packets, no room service And try to finally sleep in —to get rudely woke up to very loud persistent banging at 8:30 am So Ask cleaning lady- who is banging on the door— isn’t check out at 11? She answers ” dont know” this goes on for three trys-to communicate— all I keep getting from her is “dont know” to figure out she doesnt speak any English But she keeps pointing to our room number I tell her her not now Then she leaves We paid for three nights Cost too much for the experience Don’t think will come here again

Last week, me and my family had a very enjoyable, memorable and very relaxed experience in SummerTide Resort We stayed in Yawl, and it’s a very cute place to stay The view is fantastic

The entire resort is very nice and clean The owners, Morgan and Krista, their kid’s Lola and Taj, sister Robyn, and her partner Wil are fabulous Very friendly, courteous, and very nice people They are very warmth, and they treat you not as their guests, but like a family If you plan to get away from the city and want to relax in a quiet place, this is the best place to go There are so many activities that you can do here like fishing, clam digging, oyster picking, crabbing to name a few Their rate is very reasonable, you will not regret I bought few souvenirs from their cute little storeI feel at home in SummerTideI highly recommend this place This is the place that you can call home, away from home
