I commend the staff of this hotel for being able to get me a room on very short notice I was set to arrive in Winston Salem for the Paul McCartney concert 5/21 and had booked a stay at a closer hotel to the venue back in February That hotel cancelled my booking as my credit card expired in March with no notice whatsoever
Thankfully the young lady I spoke with the morning of 5/19 was able to get me a room with no issue Also, Lauren was awesome at check in Her getting us checked in quickly and efficiently allowed me to be able to see Paul McCartney make his entrance to the venue and wave to him! She was also very friendly Please let these ladies know I appreciate their excellent service!

Kind staff Clean environment What else can you ask for? They were booked but the halls were petty quite! A cozy facility
The only real “outdated” elements of the hotel are the popcorn ceilings, flooring and doors but they have the same type of furniture and mattresses that 3 star hotels have So don’t let that stop you from staying here Overall, great experience Would recommend if on a budget for sure

I don’t know how anyone would give this place 5 stars I checked in and when I got into my room there were crumbs all over the floor, the ceiling was peeling, the mini fridge had rust in it and then there was some flying bug They changed our room two doors down, I wasn’t even in there 10 minutes before I started seeing roaches on the walls and in the bathroom
I took my belongings to the car and checked out The lady in the front was awesome, understanding and explained that they were going through some changes with the housekeeping staff

The worse stay at a Marriott property that I have ever had I would avoid this property at all costs Reserved a Kind suite for my family of 4 (plus infant)
Arrived and was given a King Room Hotel staff and management did nothing to accommodate our family and we were forced to sleep on one bed until later in our stay when given the correct room We had called early in week to confirm booking In lieu of the actual room I paid for, Marriott gave me $20 per night They refused to make this right with my family and I I would avoid this property if traveling to NC

Hotel itself was fine Nothing extravagant My room was small but practical
Bed and pillows were comfortable Bathroom looked like it had been updated recently Breakfast bar was available but I didn’t try it Fitness room was very limited Two treadmills, an elliptical, light free weights and a benchMajor downside, which was a freak occurrence I’m sure, was the hotel fire alarm going off ~9pm for about 30 mins due to what I was told was a faulty sprinkler system

If I could give negative stars Johanna was absolutely horrible Disrespectful and lazy
She would not give my deposit back due to me smoking in my room because she found an old cigarette butt on the dresser We followed all the requirements and rules of the facility We went outside to smoke and walk our service animals As an owner of a service animal with high functioning anxiety this was the worst experience I have ever received at a comfort inn I know will suffer with this experience and it will ruin future plans in going out to a hotel I am high distraught in this experience, and i just wanted my deposit back Why follow the rules of the facility if I was was going to be charged regardless? It is appalling to think this is considered a higher ranked hotel 8/10 stars on hotelscom, but honestly I am highly unsatisfied with my stay Negative 50 stars I am sure this is a scam and the manager is taking cash deposits, and saying a rule was broken, so they can pocket the money I was told I could not speak with a a manger that they would not be in today I was not able to resolve my issues in a peaceful manner This is completely unconstitutional and illegal Pleas do not waste the time or your money by staying with comfort inn The current manager needs to be let go, she obviously doesn’t care about the guest and scams them for the cash deposits I am so upset I really hope this reaches corporate, so that this will not happen to another person who follows all rules and laws

We were greeted by staff with a very nice surprise The room was clean and everything worked efficiently The only down side was the breakfast
By the previous reviews I was expecting a wonderful breakfast Please don’t get me wrong, it was nice clean and accommodating but just not what I was lead to believe We ended up going out for breakfast It would have been fine for me but my hubby is very picky and needed more selection
Cranialblip
Matt Meany, General Manager and the entire staff were excellent – friendly, helpful and professional We thoroughly enjoyed our stay The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel
I booked our stay in advance for the Paul McCartney show at Truist Field – which was walking distance (a bonus!) – without a hitch Considering the influx of guests, Mr Meany – not a blue one : ) and the staff handled the situation with aplomb Thank you all for a pleasant stay
alexis fisher
The staff here were wonderful, very very helpful with all of our issues and were accommodating to all of them in a very timely manner My only complaint is the cleanliness of the hotel overall I went in my first room and not only was it not finished being cleaned, but it also was a room that had been evidently smoked in
They then moved us to another room which was also clearly smoked in and it was not cleaned and the bathroom had toothpaste stains on the mirror and mold in the shower The third room they moved us to was better, though it still wasn’t good There was dry (what appeared to be) vomit on the wall next to the bed and there were dead bugs in the bathroom Then the second night the restaurant in the hotel had music playing so loud that the base of it could be heard outside of the hotel in our car and in the hallways The overall cleanliness of the hotel was lackluster Definitely would not stay again

In from Michigan visiting family If your on a budget I’ll say this place is okay They are doing upgrades to the rooms/remodeling
Nice size fridge and microwave in the room King size bed is firm, not terrible Maybe bring your own pillows Rooms are clean Nice accommodations for my dog I did not find a elevator? Downside if your on the 2nd floor and a lot of luggage Friendly staff and nice breakfast in the morning Cable in the rooms and WIFI A kid was hacking one morning while getting breakfast so I brought my food back to my room so I didn’t catch whatever he was coughing Only issue is the loud remodeling noises late at night and I did find a roach in my room which I did not like! The rooms could be 100% remodeled Vs some half jobs There’s damaged equipment scattered all over the property which isn’t attractive (stairwell, cookout area, sidewalks) Overall comfortable stayI’m very understanding with Covid and no staff, I get it but bugs are a BIG no no!!

I travel in the states of NC/VA and am in different hotels 4-5 nights a week for my work By far this is my favorite stay while on a budget1) It is safe2) Great Breakfast3) Friendly staff4) The rooms are reasonable for the $This hotel is often sold out for the reasons above, so try and book ahead especially on the weekends
Allen T
I wanted a waffle Their policy is to not allow breakfast items in the rooms The manager of the hotel followed me and reiterated the policy several times
So I had to put my first hotel waffle in years: a waffle that I craved, a waffle that made a substantial difference in my decision to book a hotel in the first place instead of just finding someplace to park my RV- in the trashEach room has a fridge and a microwaveThe hotel room is… adaquate The toilet badly worked The flooring in my room was crackedI am seriously considering asking Expedia for a refund I am furious

Nice front desk employee, Debbie She help keep me here however, the room was nasty Food droplets on the floor
Chair stained, the door knob and around it to enter the room was filthy as well as the other side I complained about the room with dingy sheets and yellow filmed towels and the smoke detector is currently beeping I cleaned the room again and discovered how nasty the door handles were Also although there are or were renovations being done, there is no excuse that no one is dusting the hallway Dust is settled On The chair railing in the hallways The Days Inn welcome mat is dirty and warned That was my first clue This hotel/motel could have a wonderful rating if more love and cleaning detail was done I’m disappointed but too tired to go somewhere else Besides the price is okay but not worth what I’m seeing I went to Walmart down the street to buy some cleaning stuff to help me get comfortable It’s not working now because the smoke detector is beeping every 60 seconds and it’s 2:00 am You can’t tell me the cleaning crew didn’t know it was doing that and didn’t report it
Vitesh Kambara
It was a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere with a supportive staff and clean environment Linens, beds and blankets were clean and comfy Bathrooms were clean and packed with helpful ornaments
The property itself was located in a nice area with multiple food places and stores nearby There were some really nice amenities like a spacious and clean pool and a packed continental breakfast menu that was free

Service and staff are amazing Hotel is very clean Comfortable beds
The only thing I didn’t like was the guy in the room next to us smoking weed Chris moved us immediately though and tended to us efficiently Amazing service Hope that weed guy got charged every penny for the issue Let not a bad neighbor slight the service though They certainly took care of it
queen downing
Hotel was very clean the smoking room didn’t smell like smoke at all Lady on front desk Dede I think her name was the very best checking in My house had burned down and we needed a place to stay for the night she made things very comfortable and easy for my husband and I
Definitely recommend this hotel Hot breakfast was great as well, would definitely book again
Bill Rogers
There is no way this hotel should have won a GOLD award The pool was broke, no notice provided before we got there (however, I received multiple emails including one on the previous day making sure I was still coming) The only working ice maker was on the third floor
None of the soda machines worked, I was told by the staff, ‘yeah someone should buy some sodas and fill that sometime’ I booked two rooms, it would have been nice if they were next to each other The one room was supposedly cleaned, maybe the bed made and vacuumed but that was it There was a dirty washcloth in the shower, there was still hair allover the sink and sink counter, the shower curtain was dirty, there was left over fruit loops from the previous stay under the night stand When you book a room at a Non-Smoking hotel you do that for a reason, you do not need to walk out the front door to the hotel staff smoking with one on each side so that you have to walk through a plume of smoke to get into and out of the hotelThere is no way this hotel should have ever won any awards other than dog hotel of the year maybe!! I like my dog more than that so I would find a better place for them also Go elsewhere!!!

My stay recently was Excellent! The entire staff, (especially Delice ) were very nice, professional, friendly and customer oriented who made me feel very welcomed from the start…Whenever I travel to Matthews/Charlotte I will always stay here I was very impressed with our clean room, hot breakfast, and the walk in shower within the room The room had beautiful decor and was very clean
Housekeeping does a very good job In addition the hotel is in an area where there are lots of stores and eateries around Thank you to all staff members for making my stay very enjoyable!

Sleep Inn Matthews-Charlotte customer service was poorMy stay at Matthews, NC Overall Feedback:Highly Disappointed Issues include: 1
Toilet not working Wobbles when seated Runs continuously Requires long hold to clear the bowl 2 Towel ring separated from wall while reaching for a hand towel 3 Window had no locks which compromised room safety 4 TV worked intermittently Froze on a channel remote failed to work 5 Faucet loose during operation 6 AC not adequate for Charlotte humidity 7 Asked to change rooms and was told it was sold out when minutes earlier rooms were available on top floor 8 Room service never came today 7/23 to clear trash or provide fresh towels I took pics I am requesting a partial refund for this terrible experience I could go on and on but you get the point No lounge chairs at the pool so it’s a waste of a trip to the pool Continental breakfast was atrocious Don’t waste your money it’s not worth 5000 a night let alone the 9800 that we paid
Adam Ganey
Never heard of Sleep Inn? There’s a reasonThankfully we only paid for one night-The room (and therefore our clothes) wreaked of old cigarette smoke) even though it was a non smoking floor
-I’m fairly certain we got a contact high from walking down the halls, even first thing in the morning-The bathroom was essentially a closet with a very loud pocket door and the shower flooded the entire bathroom floor since the door doesn’t seal-The “free breakfast” was served in a dining room that was only slightly bigger than our room and was packed with people It consisted of choices akin to a gas station We just turned around and went out to eat-I noticed that my bedside lamp, outlet and clock didn’t work Well, they weren’t plugged in Because there wasn’t even a plug to BE plugged into-There were two small towels and one hand towel in the bathroom-The bed pillows were the size of couch throw-pillowsIt’s all small things that alone wouldn’t be a big deal, but alot of little things add up to a big deal

Not a happy guest! My son and I stayed during our mini vacation The phone in the room didn’t work and there was no alarm clock A wake up call wasn’t possible due to the phone and the desk attendant said he’d bring us an alarm clock
The “breakfast” was very limited with yogurt, bread, pastries, cereal, and waffles The coffee was nasty The worst part was the fact they left a paper in front of each guests door in the morning folded It had my personal info including address on it Overall the room was clean but there was an awful smell when you walked in the back hallway before getting into the main hallway The pool was closed (didn’t care because I wasn’t going to use it) And the gym was a joke- some free weights, elliptical, stationary bike, and treadmill in a small, cramped room
Casey Hayes
My family stayed in two rooms in the second building Walking up the steps there was something that smelled like a dead rotting animal, the hotel itself smelt musky There were sticky spots in the hallway carpet
Ours room were absolutely disgusting Smelled horrible! Musky, smoke (both were non smoking) AC unit was dirty and could only imagine what all we were breathing in Stains on our blanket, the bed skirt had food on it that looked like pizza sauce Bathroom had mold and mildew It was so bad we went to dollar general and sprayed Lysol, wiped everything down, and strayed tons of febreeze and left and it helped a tiny bit The carpets in rooms felt sticky and dirty Feet got sticky and black so we couldn’t even go without shoes One of our rooms didn’t have a phone, other one did but it was cracked and it was gross and dirty in the inside like cockroaches have been in it One didn’t even have a working tv The lobby is decently nice which was very deceiving considering the condition of the rooms I felt so dirty leaving the rooms We have stayed in many rooms and cheaper ones that was more nicer than this We will never stay here again Rather stay in a tent It will be more cleaner Would give zero stars if it was an option
Emily Gore
I have a few pros and cons about this hotel:Pros — Staff is extremely friendly and helpful- Great location straight off the interstate with loads of food and gas stations in the immediate area Fast food open late- room was of normal size and good size for two people- within 15 min of the zoo and easy to get to and fromCons– the property itself is old, musty and difficult to navigate
No elevator The first room we were in was terribly stuffy, musty and the AC compressor was going out making it very loud We were switched to another room down the hall which was more acceptable-bathroom Very small, no complementary toiletries, very limited towels (had to go down for more and they count them You have to leave the used ones outside of the door to get new ones), mildew and someone else’s hair in shower, extremely low water pressure makes people with a lot of hair hard to rinse out, and the most astonishing was that the little coffee maker was not only in the bathroom but literally like three feet from the toilet How is that sanitary? Sink backed up and took a while to drain- bed Bring your own pillows! These offer no support at all But the Bed was comfortable and sheets were soft and comfy- outdoor pool still closedI booked through Expedia and it was $313 for two nights (Mid May 2022 weekend)Which I think is extremely overpriced for the condition of the property Again, staff is wonderful but the property needs some serious TLC

Room was non-smoking, but you could smell someone had smoked House keeping did a good job of cleaning but you could tell Evening reception was nice, they should use two bartenders during peak hours
The location is great and with the exception of those few issues I always enjoy myself when I stay there The chefs are great and I recommend ordering from the restaurant at least once during your stay

Some other reviews talk about this location being dated I couldn’t agree more I often read these reviews and think “dated” means it’s not brand new
This location is dated “dated” The pool isn’t heated as advertised They charged for parkingThey advertise their happy hour social but I didn’t attend because the line was wrapped around the atriumThere is a breakfast provided, of which we may have collectively eaten 8 bites of All you could take in the gravy was garlic and the powdered eggs has transformed into bits of yellow rubberI wouldn’t say don’t book this location There are most definitely worse options for lodging But, I would advise that you manage your expectations before booking here The staff is awesome!

UPDATE: Came in to our room this evening to one of the best cleanings we’ve had from a hotel Everything was organized perfectly and super clean Manager replied to my original review with a great attitude
+2 stars!Legitimately one of the jankiest places we’ve ever stayed atWhat you get for $215/night (a *premium* suite!):- wallpaper peeling off the walls- carpet pulling up from the floor- couches that look like they came from the goodwill- bathtub that doesn’t drain- shower that barely works at all- room service *by request only* 😂- blank walls where paintings used to be?This place looked like it hadn’t been updated for a decade

There were cigarette burns everywhere I mean there hardly no surfaces without them The room smelled moldy
The couch was stained and filthy The lights were so dim you could hardly see and very sparse There were dead bugs all over the place Including under the mattress (I always check for bed bugs) The toilet didn’t seem to work correctly There were people wandering around aimlessly and smoking weed The room door looked as if it had been kicked in before With all the bad (and there was A LOT) the only nice thing was the staff The front desk staff was exceptionally nice

Great rates Loved the outdoor pool Housekeeping was fantastic
Clean and the staff was helpful with everything Unfortunately no room service or elevator Older hotel but clean and has been given a face lift The ladies bathrooms on the first floor by the event hall/reception area were beautifully decorated Conveniently located next to a grocery store, liquor store, many restaurants, and other fun things to see

Nice and convenient place But few things bothered me, first of all when using microwave was kicking out the breaker all the time after 1 minute use, i had to call front desk like 5 times to flip the breaker back And second, how the ac and one bed in double bed room, it’s impossible to sleep, since the ac is blowing straight to your face and body
They need to fix this, not sure how people sleep on such positioned bed
