I really loved my brief stay at the McCall House So many personal touches and accommodations for late check in It was more of an experience than just a hotel /bnb stay

It felt nostalgic as it reminded me of the Victorian style homes back east I stay in when visiting relatives The antique furniture and fine details were really special Breakfast was exceptional, location and parking can’t be beatOnly note I would make is that it is an old house, so the walls are not sound proof You can hear guests walking down the hallway or up the stairs, and potentially, from inside their rooms on an adjacent wall I didn’t hear or watch TV but I’m sure if I had, It would have been heard by the other guests So if you’re a young couple honeymooning, privacy may be something to keep in mindLooking forward to visiting Ashland and staying here again!

We had no idea such a beautiful place existed in Ashland We were passing through and needed to rest for one night, so we called this place with good reviews and made a reservation The staff is extremely friendly

We were traveling with children and wanted two queen beds, but the receptionist recommended the carriage house, which had two king beds and two rooms offered us with the same price Lauxiurious and well-kept We were treated like royalty, with delicious breakfast and coffee I don’t think I’ll stay anywhere else if I continue to travel along that route

Samantha Oswald

We always love staying at the McCall House, such a wonderful space and excellent service We were sad to see some of the updates made to the rooms and common spaces Feels as though it lost some of the historical charm and elegance, especially in the President Hayes room which was one of our favorites

Loved the Lydia McCall room Still a great place to stay in Ashland

A PLAGUE ON ROOM 101: IT’S NOT FIT FOR HUMAN INHABITANTS! My family stayed in room 101, under the stairs next to the front desk The room smelled terrible when we entered it; we thought this was due to heat and smoke in the air from wildfires We turned on the air conditioner in hopes that the room would smell better, but it didn’t help

After taking our shoes off, we discovered that the carpet in the back room was wet: not damp, but wet My son walked on the carpet without socks and the bottom of his feet turned black Black! He put on socks and they were immediately wet on the bottom My husband notified the front desk about the carpet and they claimed it was probably damp due to wet towels that had been left on the floor This is clearly not the case We were offered another room, but it wasn’t a suite The main reason I chose this hotel was for the divided room and I didn’t want to change to a smaller room (we are a family of four with two teenagers and we all like a little privacy) We suffered through two nights in this swamp of a room My daughter woke up with a bug on her pillow and then discovered several other bugs on the curtains and the floor—no doubt they are attracted to the damp environment In terms of appearances, the room looked nice, but it is not habitable After two sleepless nights, we couldn’t wait to leave There are several buildings that make up the Bard’s Inn, so perhaps they are better

Live ants between the sheets of the bed!!! My wife, her sister and her 82 year old mother checked into the hotel July 21, 2022 The hotel appeared to be a little worse for wear The first problem in the room was the very old air conditioner

Even with wearing ear plugs the machine kept them up as it was very loud But, the major issue was that when my wife’s mother got out of bed in the morning she said she was itchy That is when they found live ants crawling around between the sheets! My wife brought it up to a couple of employees of the hotel who said this was an ongoing issue, “we spray for them all the time but they keep coming back” The person at the front counter was told of the situation but said they were not in a position to do anything and my wife needed to bring this up with Expedia where the booking was done, not the hotel After many phone calls and emails the hotel gave a 20% refund So, it cost 16000 to sleep with live ants instead of 20000 My wife wanted to speak to the manager and the staff member said the manager would call but they never did DO NOT STAY HERE!

The decor was a bit dated But the room was very large Had very comfortable beds and two types of pillows on the bed

Firm or soft Our room had a nice table and chairs for our in room meals The continental breakfast was very good and had a variety of hot and cold food options They offered small paper bags for us to pack our meal and take it back to our room The in house restaurant had food and the flavors were spot on

Have had good experiences in the past for special occasion visits and food was really good Haven’t been in a few years so decided to go for Easter Brunch at $3999 per person

Walked in and staff looked stressed and confused We were seated at a dirty table and it took awhile to get a server to notice us She was pleasant and we made our way to the buffet What a disaster Undercooked bacon, the quiche was liquid, and they ran out of prime rib so they said to come back I got a pancake but there was no syrup or butter to be found By this time we had plates of food but I wasn’t impressed Returned to our table to discover everything was cold In the meantime my husband made his was to the prime rib and returned with a piece that looked like it had never been in the oven We looked at each other and said ” I don’t feel like getting a case of food poisoning is on our list of things to do today”, so we picked up our things and left You are a restaurant and you serve food like that? We were told by friends that there was new ownership and they had a bad experience recently We should have heeded their warning Sadly we won’t be returning

Igor Bronshteyn

What a charming hotelGreat service, big clean rooms, fireplace, fridge and a jetted tub in the room We also had a balcony overlooking outside dining area

Good food in their restaurant also, fairly priced with great serviceOhand they have a fully stocked game room and a gym, too!A bit of a drive to downtown Ashland (11 miles) but it all depends why you are here anywaysWe’ll be back!

Elyse Douglas

I wanted to love this place but the air conditioner was so obnoxiously loud that we could not sleep well The mattress was too soft for a tummy sleeper The freeway was much too close for my taste

Something we should have researched better, so it’s on us The room was clean The restaurant food was pretty good but a bit pricey So we left a day early

Farmers for Truth (Big Al)

This motel is small but definitely awesome for a nice getaway weekend The rooms were nice and clean but on the older side The room key was an actual key with Keychain which I truly love because your phone won’t erase an actual key like it does the key cards

The office upon check in had a pleasant freshly brewed coffee smell which was delightful Check in was fast This motel is right by a Great American Pizza company which was super delicious and I highly recommend Back to the room the bed was super soft I prefer firm but I slept well Room windows open and that’s a plus to have a nice breeze come through Only issue was the ac in room 206 was weak That is my only complaint about our stay Friendly staff They also do a basic breakfast with coffee fruit and English muffins Definitely a quite place to stay Great surroundings with other restaurants, stores and accommodations close by I highly recommend Timbers Motel

Seeker of The Dragons

So back in August I took a long road trip on my own for the first time from California to Washington State When getting to the Motel, I found out I had forgotten my ID at home The owner helped me with that situation and got me into the room

After that I had decided to park my car closer to my room, my right front passenger tire exploded, this happened at 12am I didn’t want to worry about it because it was late Found out I had also forgotten my power box for my phone, and one of the folks who was staying let me borrow his power bank for the night The following morning, which I’m still grateful for all their help The owner and his employee helped me change to my spare and his employee called several different locations for me to find the cheapest option for a new tire I’m not sure if y’all see this review or remember me but I thank you to the bottom of my heart for your kindness and care Truly- Christian S

Hotel is in nice area close to I5 exit, and easy to get to Lots of ample parking and hotel has free breakfast (although their pancake maker wasn’t working, and by 0930 hours, they stopped putting out more good) The rooms were spacious

We had a One bedroom suite (the suite had a queen bed, and a king bed and sofa in the other They had a decent K-Cup in the room with bottle pump for the shampoo, conditioner and body wash For extra measure they also throw in a few bar soap The swimming pool facility opens at 0600 and closes at 2200 hoursOutside of the breakfast, there’s nothing negative about the hotel

myfolsom b (myfolsom)

The rooms were big and clean The beds and pillows were comfortable We had a nice view of the mountains and the I5 highway

They are short staffed, so when we asked for extra blanket, I was asked to come down to the reception to get it Also breakfast has very limited pre-packaged items Not much choice for breakfast They should improve on that Other than that, one of the better Holiday Inn hotels that we have stayed in

Macroaquire

We stayed here at the last minute because of I-5 closing due to snow and accidents Very nice people at the front desk The room was clean and had that fresh clean feel to it

I’ll the things we like in a roomnice TV, microwave, fridge, laundry bag, lots of hooks to hang coats, closet, soap/shampoo dispensers in the shower We didn’t get a chance, but would have liked to swim in the indoor heated pool and relax in the jacuzziIt was a very nice stay

Great check-in service, had a upstairs room, but I was having outpatient procedure the next day and knew I couldn’t climb the stairs after my procedure The gal at the front desk was more than happy to accommodate me with a lower level room Room was nice and clean! Everything you need is there, microwave, refrigerator, TV, mini coffee maker, blow dryer, mini toiletries, iron and ironing board

They offer a great breakfast/brunch until 10 am A wonderful hot tub Check out was just as friendly I would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel! Thank you for a great stay!

This place was excellent! It was very clean and well maintained The only thing I would change is the carpet in the rooms (rip it out and put laminate down) and only because it’s much cleanerStaff is friendly and check in was quick and easy

Beds were comfy and everything worked (cooler, fridge, shower, TV/remote) Pool looked great, though it’s fire season and we didn’t use it due to ash and smoke, and the on-site gym was clean and had good equipment Parking was easy and safe We’ll definitely stay again

PeterSu Copley

I love this Best Western! It is perfectly located close to the highway without the highway sounds The rooms are clean and don’t smell like chemicals Plenty of space in the rooms and bathrooms and there is a large swimming pool outside with a12 person hot tub

The free breakfast is open from 6:30-9:30 and has an abundance of choices The desk help were very friendly and accommodating I will definitely be staying here again

John Talbott

The Windsor Inn has some glorious highs and a few lows They have 2 level 2 charging stations which worked perfectly for us after one was rebooted The pool is nice and lots of families were enjoying the pool and the hot tub

The breakfast was ample with the expected hotel food Some in our party chose to go out for better coffee The reception for our two dogs was splendid Dog treats, a dedicated pet relief area and special blankets to sleep on Very nice The area is pretty but not interesting for walking although the pooches liked it The room needed some updating, the only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars Next time I stay here, I’ll raise this to 5 if the bathroom is updated a bit! Staff was always helpful and nice You can make up for a dim bathroom light with a cheerful front desk staff every time

Such a nice little place The house is an older house that has been completely renovated and looks fantastic We stayed in the upstairs unit which was a 2 bedroom, and there is a pull out couch in the living room if needed

The kitchenette area is small but was more than suitable for our needs The house is located on a quiet street but almost everything around is within walking distance A fancy breakfast is included at the main office just a few blocks away and is made to orderWe were very pleased with our stay!

Gorgeous and so cozy! I loved all of the small signs around the rooms explaining the eco friendly features The sheets were the absolute softest sheets I’ve ever slept on and the beds were so comfortable You can tell how much thought and care was put into every detail of the place

First they said they had available rooms on the phone then I get there and there’s no available rooms(Edit)I will remove the one star review in a few days since the first person I spoke with was pleasant and did try to book me a room, but the second time I called the number on the sign in front of the building that person told me there was no available rooms, but to try the sister property

Nice room overlooking park (could Hear the stream, couldn’t See it & only after the event next door was over, around 2 am) )with balcony, right Next to the restaurant next door which got noisy with some kind of special event TV had bad reception & selection If we came there again, we’d make sure we had a room further from the restaurant! A great place within walking distance of all the downtown action

Kudos to Molly at the front desk, who seems unflappable & sincerely sweet and caring! 🤗👍

The reason I am giving Plaza Inn 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the breakfast The room was great The staff was helpful and professional

Location is great as it’s just a 5 minute walk to the plays The breakfast however is shabby at best You could easily purchase the same breakfast at a gas station Small packaged pastries, peeled hard boiled eggs that were packaged in Minnesota, tasteless bagels Really, if you’re not going to provide proper food, then don’t advertise that you provide breakfast It’s insulting The second morning of our stay we skipped the hotel breakfast and ate at a nearby cafe I don’t think we would stay here again

Jessica Pedigo

Beware, this hotel will charge you more than what they are advertising and will not respond to calls or emails to resolve the issue I stayed here January 1-3rd, the advertised price was $149 per night I was charged $249 per night, but didn’t realize the mistake until I was back home

I have called numerous times and left messages, I have emailed the manager with no response I have reported this business to the Better Business Bureau and am still waiting for a resolutionAs far as the room – the decor is ok We found a dirty towel behind the door and a raisin in one of the chairs, which tells me they are not as thorough as they should be with their cleaning The staff was friendly and helpfulIf this company returns my call and refunds what they overcharged me, I will update my review Until then, buyer beware

One star based on price and expectation It’s just an old house that looks good in pictures but worn out in person Probably way overpriced to keep out the riff raff and give an air of exclusivity

I didn’t see any shared areas that weren’t part of their restaurant or easily accessible that they had pictured on their website The front desk service, while polite, gave me a key and pointed up the stairsRented the “double garden room”: I don’t know what is double about it as it was much smaller than pictures suggested; the “garden” was the bar/restaurant patio with the room’s windows making it feel like a fishbowl for everyone to look in, as well as the street traffic It took a while to figure out how to pull down the blinds as they were a mix of cords and types, very tedious There was a tiny couch, tiny TV, and a weird sack of a mattress on a metal box There was a note to please not use the big pillows (“to keep them nice for other guests”, really?) and what was left was two small flat basic cheap pillows No phone charging ports or outlets available near the bed area I didn’t even sit on the tiny couch as the cushions were sloped down so much it looked like you would slide off I was tired and went to bed only to hear all the noise from rooms around me Got to sleep but then was awoken later by the bar closing and moving around tables and chairs in the patio belowI didn’t even stay for the breakfast as I was tired of being disappointed by this place Just over-priced to give an air of exclusivity

Just spent 3 nights here as the midpoint in Thanksgiving travel This place is a gem of an oasis with unique beautiful rooms, all different, and the welcoming amenities of flowers and treats are an elegant touch Beds are comfy with lovely grapefruit soaps and lotions

Alchemy on the grounds offers wonderful menu items, wines and specialty cocktails Breakfasts served are delightful as well

Quiet, well appointed, clean, comfortable Most importantly, room was within stumbling distance of Alchemy restaurant Staff was friendly, most helpful and accommodating

Only 1 complaint Hot water supply is apparently quite distant from the out buildings Took a long time running water to get hot water for bath or shower

Hotel is interesting and in incredible shape with consistent themes We were on the eighth floor with wide views and with exception of occasional road noise it was very quiet The grounds are beautiful and something interesting is always waiting to be discovered

The location made it easy to wonder around town on foot Breakfast was nice Room service was available (though Larks was very underwhelming) The staff are thoroughly impressive I could spend a great deal of time here

Wonderful location, interesting history, great service, gracious and helpful staff I love the decor, especially the lobby, full of natural light, the cozy fire place a great place to hang out of a crisp evening and several other tastefully decorated nooks for reading or a good conversation with a friendly doggie at your feet This hotel is dog friendly

Complementary breakfast is well balanced, substantial and a very convenient plus; you can enjoy it sitting in the gallery mezzanine level overlooking the lobby The Queen Petite room is just enough for 1 person The bathroom could use a towel rail/ ring near the washbasin and shower, there are no options to hang towels where you need them in these areas There are no easily accessible power outlets in the room There is a coffee maker but to use it I had to scout for an outlet and heave the dresser aside to access the only outlet I could find – behind it! Same issue for charging my phone I highly recommend this hotel

If you’re into history and architecture or just good old stories you have to go visit this beautiful well kept hotel! We just grab a cup of coffee from the hotel restaurant on the ground floor and hung out in the lobby for a bit Was trying to be discreet didnt want to disturb the guests there Really in love with those extended ceiling fans… the spring blossom center piece was a very timely nice touch! There are many many historic buildings in the United States and it is good to know some are very well protected and taken care of! 🥳🥳👍👍
