We love staying at this hotel This was our 3rd stay here My family and I were in town for my graduation

We did not use many of the amenities this time, but we have used the fitness area and breakfast bar in the past and loved them We would stay here again The location is the perfect distance from UAB schools The rooms have always been clean Our parents are still raving about the comfort level of the mattress and pillows

I booked this hotel largely due to loyalty to the Hilton brand and the strong reviews, and feel obligated to post to warn other travelers This hotel is by NO means worth of anything close to four stars While the hotel is very much “fine” it leaves much to be desired and is by no means worthy of the price tag Hilton places on what is supposedly their “flagship” property in the city

The rooms and decor are dated, and equivalent to a Hampton Inn but double the price The seemingly dumb but surprisingly most impactful negative about the property was the PILLOWS They are effectively as thin as paper once you lay your head on them, and no other pillows are available at the hotel Beyond sleeping with a thin piece of paper as a pillow, the sheets or itchy and might be 50 thread count max, and the A/C was set to 74 when we arrived so the room was sweltering hot No breakfast or snacks are provided regardless of loyalty or rewards status, the coffee machine in the room looks like it came straight from goodwill with only one (terrible) coffee packet thing provided There is NO BODY WASH (???) provided only bars of hand soap, which was shocking in and of itself The CHERRY on top was housekeeping banging on the door at 8am waking us up and interrupt the little sleep we could get on the paper pillows in order to turnover the room, despite the noon checkout time All around one of the more atrocious experiences at a Hilton property and despite the convenient location, will not be one to which I return

We checked in to our room which had the worst smoke smell I have a smoke allergy and immediately felt my eyes itching and watering so I called down to the front desk to ask if we could switch rooms They didn’t have many options and I know it wasn’t easy but she was able to move me to a different room on the same floor and I feel like it was a big upgrade

It was a corner room (and handicap accessible) so it was spacious It didn’t have the smoke smell and it was cleanWe only stayed one night passing through town but not sure I would stay downtown again The walk-ability to restaurants/bars is good lots of options However the street noise is not good All night we could hear cars, people, music and sirensBreakfast was good but there was one lady (rosa maybe?) that was rude and condescending I don’t know what I did to offend her but she followed me around telling me what I did wrong every time I came up to get something No smiles or friendly demeanor whatsoeverParking is $15/night and you get one vehicle per room (small lot) so plan accordingly!

Not a good experience at all First room had a hair tie on the restroom floor, corners of the restroom has a lot of dirt in them, pillow case has stains on them and there was other debris on the floor through out the room Clearly this room was not cleaned prior to use going to it

We were given another room only to find the same thing The bathroom had toothpaste on the wall near the sink the back of the entrance door looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time, the window looking out looked like it had not been cleaned since the hotel opened My wife attempted to make tea but the brown clumps and dirty water that came out of the pot was disgusting I try to not leave negative reviews but this needed to be shared For the price we paid, I was not happy at all with the level of cleanliness in this hotel I will say the people at the front desk were very nice and the lady that waited on us in the restaurant was great For the price this was a complete rip off, not to mention the breakfast was $18 and about the same thing we usually get for free at other hotels Sorry Marriot tried, but will not be back

My stay was very nice I had a room mix up, the staff resolved it right away the food was good This was my first stay at the Drury

I must say it was a very pleasant surprise I enjoyed the breakfast especially the waffle maker 🙂 Stephanie at the front desk was very nice and friendly she also was a great bartender the entire staff were great My only complaint was I called on the phone before I got there to ask for a Jacuzzi tub and someone told me I couldn’t change it, but when I got there they told that was not true so I missed out on my jacuzzi bath, I will stay again

Emily Klingler

We love this place Clean, comfortable, all staff was extremely friendly Nice pool and hot tub

The kick back snacks and cocktails as well as breakfast are great! We always love to stay at a drury if one is available on our travels This location is close to home so we visit just to get away for a night and swim! Plenty to do in the area tootons of amazing restaurants, the best mall in the state, Zoos, museums, etc

Lori McGee

We stayed here in late June, 2022 The staff is friendly and helpful The TV didn’t work when we first arrived and after checking the commonsense possibilities for it not to work, I called the front desk for help

The night manager, Michael, asked a few questions to determine if it was a quick or simple fix and when those options did not work, he was up at our room within minutes Turns out it was a loose cord on the back of the tv that we failed to check, but he was still very friendly about itThe breakfast meals were good, hot and had a variety of food choices I was surprised when I asked about butter for a biscuit, I didn’t see any and the employee, Belle, found some a short time later and even brought some to my table for meThe front desk workers were always friendly, as well, including Michelle, who was eager to answer a couple of questions I hadOverall, great staff; easy to find everything I needed or wanted there The room was clean and when we decided to add a roll away to the room towards the end of our stay, it was brought up promptlyGreat place to stay, close to the interstate, restaurants and activities When visiting family in the area in the future, I will go back there

Staff made an average hotel into an exceptional place to stay! I had a vehicle breakdown and ended up in Tuscaloosa while it got fixed It was a bit of a stressful time but the Staff were so helpful and cheerful it really made the unexpected stopover a positive experience Rooms are average but the location is ideal and close to everything

Would stay here anytime I’m back in town just because of their wonderful workers

We enjoyed our stay in a clean room with a comfy bed and barely audible highway noise only when the AC cycled off Breakfast was delicious and included: scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, biscuits and sausage gravy as well as cereals, instant oatmeal/grits, yogurt, muffins, bagels and Belgian waffles with assorted toppings All their staff were friendly and helpful

I stayed here a year ago and had a great experience so this was unexpected This hotel is filthy I had to change rooms three times before finding one without trash laying around and with clean toilets and vacuumed floors

The front desk worker was helpful and obviously frustrated with housekeeping I should have read the recent reviews before booking again as some say the same thing about the cleanliness level I am ending my stay here early and will not be staying here again

Lasara Jones

The location was the only thing that I liked at this hotel We had problems with our room First red flag, when we got in our room the trash was not emptied out

Second flag the shower Handel was broken, was told it will be guided the next day but that didn’t happen The toilet was clogged my family was going down to the lobby to use the restroom down there I do not think they should have had to do that being that it was a bathroom in our room We was told they didn’t have toilet tissue We had to go out and buy some for our room We had to complain multiple times before we was moved to a different room on our last day staying The beds had my body sore each day that I got up I would not stay at this location again

Sarah E

My fiancé and I had a room reserved before we were notified by his place of employment that he was exposed to COVID and others had tested positive I called the hotel and was told the reservation would be cancelled and refunded as long as the third party we booked through agrees The booking company called and Hilton Garden staff refused to refund the money

It’s important to note this took more than 10 days because their manager was not available to take the call when attempts were made The staff is completely unprofessional and hangs up on you if you ask for a manager

Exceptional! I adore this Hilton Spotless rooms, pool, common areas, They offer free coffee and other drinks in the lobby And a free breakfast in the morning that is an actual breakfastI Have stayed here half a dozen times in the last 4 months

It is literally a 1/2 hour drive from where I need to be but I enjoy this hotel so much it is worth itI get the king one bedroom suite so that the bedroom can be separated from the little living area and kitchen it is a very nice hotel I would highly recommend it! the staff are exceptional and it is always clean clean clean! They have accommodated me with so many things whether it be early check in or late check out, picking my room or floor, so many little thingsthey have a little pantry so that if you wanna get a snack but don’t want to have to leave the hotel you can charge it to your room It is Everything I have come to expect from the Hilton and you would not be disappointed If you need a room with a kitchenThey also allow you to bring pets, just fyi!

Lauren Hoffmann

The bad news? It’s dirty, old, and smelly (cigarettes in the room, musty in the hall) The good news? They are starting renovations in a few months Very much in need of a refresh

I hope they get their cleaning crew act up to snuff Great location, I would consider staying again after renovations because the location is great The staff at the front desk is really great

Jeanna Harper

I booked a room on Expedia and asked for two portable cribs in the booking because we were traveling with toddler twins When we arrived, we were not provided with the cribs My husband asked for them and they alleged that they attempted to contact us in the room- but surprise!! The phone in our room didn’t work

In full disclosure, my husband did say the wrong room number, but I guess I assumed they know who is staying in what room I pointed out that I requested the cribs in my booking and they claimed they could not see it because I booked with Expedia Of course So after another request, we finally get the cribs We move furniture to make room for the cribs and found old flaming hot Cheetos, some nasty sticky substance, and a myriad of crumbs I complained about that and was told that housekeeping was gone and that they would put in a request This was Saturday evening Housekeeping didn’t come until some time Monday and that was only because they sent someone to fix the broken phone I told them about so they could call me and ask if I was checking out early the next day ???? How bout you check in to this room with a vacuum cleaner and some cleaning supplies?? I reminded the person harassing us to leave the early that we complained about the dirty room and his response was, “aren’t you leaving tomorrow?” As if we should let the room stay dirty because it’s only one more day They sent housekeeping and all they did was make the beds This was a bad experience I could deal with the outdated rooms, but at least clean them This place is overpriced for the service they give

I attended a beautiful wedding reception at the Townsend Hotel this weekend The venue was incredible, beautiful flowers, incredible food and drink, and service that was top notch The reason for my review, however, is the lengths the staff went to help me in a funny if not embarrassing incident

I realized that the underside of my shoe had come unglued, making walking quite awkward, and dancing of course, impossible I limped toward the main desk and Sean, the concierge, immediately took note of the problem and radioed his engineer, asking for adhesive Jay, the engineer, appeared with gorilla glue and proceeded to reassemble my shoe including pressing on it and blowing it dry All the while, both were attempting to make me feel less embarrassed and could not have been kinder Believe this or not but after an hour on the dance floor, my other shoe fell victim and once again the staff at the Townsend Hotel jumped to my rescue and repaired it as well Sean and Jay as well as the team at the desk could not have been kinder They helped me make light of the situation and insured that I could revisit the dance floor in no time and enjoy the spectacular wedding Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Townsend Hotel I will honestly never forget your kindness

This location isn’t convenient but it’s worth the experience I’m a Marriott kind of person but this hotel is an awesome hotelRooms seem sound proof, bellman were astoundingly amazing carrying my luggage with such care

The restaurant service is awesome I only at breakfast there The breakfast was typical but service made it taste greatI will stay here again

Brett Ogden

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Birmingham We loved being a short walk from restaurants whether it was a pastry for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, or Bella Piatta for a great dinner across the street Our room was very comfortable but what stood out to me was the shower

Such a great shower! The only downside… as someone who likes to always have a glass of ice water nearby, I didn’t like having to request ice from the bellman

We came here for a wedding which was really nicely hosted The rooms were simple and clean and the front desk accommodated us fairly well and quickly I wish they had someone to help us with our bags when we arrived past midnight from a 6 hour road trip tho, or a vallet option

There were also a few things I would have expected in the room like a lock safe, or carpeted floors in the room Overall it was not bad, still would generally recommend Marriott to anyone

Andres Ivanov

Sub-par hotelExpensive and not worth itHotel is old and outdated

Bathroom does not have ventilation, TV doesn’t offer streaming from phone yet that TV model has that capabilityBreakfast is an extra 20$ per person besides 200$ a night roomBed and pillows are however the WORSTWe took King size bed room and I’ve never seen that BAD quality mattress and pillowsI couldn’t sleep all night and pillows are so soft and empty that you fall flat right onto wooden mattressDo yourself a favour if you stay here and buy a pillow at dollar storeThe cherry on top is that hot water pool was closed and nothing mentions thatShould be downgraded to a 2 star hotel

Bruce Bradley

I’m going to get the young lady’s name but she was at the front desk to check us in and she was simply superb she was the definition of customer service a far cry from the Marriott downtown in Detroit she was very good she even offered me Starbucks coffee she got us checked in quick fast and in a hurry and I haven’t been pleased with hotel service which I’ll use frequently in a long long time

Showed up after an event let out of Ford Field at 9:30 ish, took us about an hour to get out of down town and to this hotel They gave us two key cards, we opened the room and found a family in the room and it looked like they had been living there for a while Came down to the front desk and the night guy said something like, “they gave your room away

” Asked if we could do a king bed for the four of us We said absolutely not Next room he went and checked first and there were people in that room too Finally gave us a key to room 210 and no one was in the room, but the TV did not work and there were scary water stains on the ceiling They moved us across the hall to 211 The room was a handicap accessible room, so there was a walk in shower with no lip or edge which flooded the bathroom every time you used it Also there were broken tiles and I am sure there is a huge water stain on the ceiling of the room belowBreakfast was awesome, but the police came for a group of young ladies and remained until the ladies finished their foodabout an hourOverall I would not recommend the placewalls were thin and people were running up and down the halls at around 2:30 amIt was clean in the rooms – the shared areas needed a good vacuuming and elevators were full of trash

Glenn Fielder

Haven’t stayed here in years but thought we’d give it a try again Front desk was pleasant and got us going to our room quickly Room furniture is looking well worn, same for bathroom as there is mildew on tile grout and tub looks like Breaking Bad filmed there

Also had to fix a broken curtain for privacy Next morning there were beer cans in the hallway and wife complained that breakfast was not good Wife went down to check the fitness room and pool and was back quickly stating both areas were filthy Came back later that evening and trash cans were overflowing and our floor sounded like party central Best part was, we got to our room and neither of our key cards would unlock our door, so back down to the front desk to get them replaced Next morning, we check the breakfast again and just about everything is gone and they say they are cooking more Just left and got breakfast elsewhere

Rachel Spencer

I love my rooms especially the jacuzzi suite my rooms were cleaned very helpful the manager was very helpful with accommodations because when I first arrived one of my rooms wasn’t cleaned wasn’t happy but we made it happened by cleaning one of our connected suites ourself The jacuzzi was nice and relaxing I shall say the beds were comfortable I had to make some accommodations because of my injuries so they made sure that they make they beds were comfortable for me by giving me extra pillows the pool was nice clean warm water Alexis was very nice too I ♥️her etc

the breakfast was good too especially the pancake maker will be coming back soon

Amazing hotel! We travel a lot and nothing compares to the level of service this hotel provides Everyone was so nice and accommodating The cappuccino and coffee at the bar is amazing

The valet will put water and sanitizer in your car when you picked it up They offer free snacks and water in the “pantry” that is located on each floor The beds were very comfortable and the room was beautiful and very cleanA lot of time and thought went into making this hotel feel more like a home and we will be back whenever we are in town again!

Stacie Surette

The Daxton Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a gorgeous lobby and amazing rooms Myself and my husband went for the weekend and the hotel did not disappoint The valet were fast and efficient each time we needed our car and the concierge was top notch

BUT I was very disappointed in the housekeeping We were there for 2 nights, Friday night and Saturday night and housekeeping did not attend our room at any point on Saturday We were gone all day on Saturday, put the sign out to say we would be gone all day and upon our return at 10pm on Saturday night no housekeeping had attended our room For the price you pay for this hotel you should be getting housekeeping services BUT on Sunday morning at 10am there was a knock on the door and it was housekeeping asking if we would be checking out early because they wanted to start cleaning our room Check out was at 11am, not 10am If it wasn’t for these issues the hotel would have been amazing

*** I RARELY WRITE REVIEWS BUT I HAD TO BRAG ABOUT THIS HOTEL****This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at The customer service was beyond our expectations from the moment we pulled up to check in until we departed Every single person was genuine, professional, attentive and so much fun

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, our room was fantastic and the time we spent was so enjoyable We will be BACK!!! A very special shout out to the gentleman at the restaurant check in who got me 2 cups of coffee while I waited for the coffee to brew! Another shout to the managing director Raj Radke ** took the time out to show us the gorgeous gold plated mechanical horse and tell us the history of the hotel and fabulous art! Shout out to the hotel manager and all the guys working the luggage and valet! The nicest and most personable !! I especially love the giant pink bunny !!!

The night shift front desk lady Pam made this experience amazing She was kind and made sure we were more than satisfied with our stay! I hope the next time I visit she is here to continue making the experience outstanding Also, hotel is great, modern, and amazingly clean

So up to date and the furniture around the hotel literally comes out of a catalog

Check in was super easy and fast Warm chocolate chip cookies awaited me upon arrival, and you can’t go wrong with that The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet

The towels were larger than some of my blankets at home The gym was bigger than most, three treadmills and multiple other machines in there as well as weights and a stretching area I didn’t use any other amenities and didn’t eat on site One of the restaurants on site has a business casual dress code, which I was not prepared for Any staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful When I was there the elevator on my side was not working, which was fine by me because my room was right next to it The parking situation felt a little sketch being in the back of the hotel, but it’s Bloomfield Hills, so I wasn’t too worried As is true for most anywhere in that area, the pavement to the parking lot on both sides is trash, with extremely large potholes all over the place, so beware when driving The drive in the front was intact and smooth

Embassy has a reputation of excellence I’ve stayed at many Embassy locations however, my most recent visit to Hoover, left me upset and disappointed! I was unable to check into my room upon arrival, and waited an additional hour and some change before I even saw a room The hallways were filthy, my room was less than clean

There was a stain on the sheets, a splatter of something on the dresser, stains that resembled vomit on the bathroom door, and a spider/cobwebs on the ceiling I was outraged! I was unable to immediately address the situation because I had to rush and get dressed for a function, for which I was 45 minutes late Did I mention my room was unavailable an hour after the original check-in time? Anyway, upon return from my engagement, I had to park in the adjoining parking garage The elevator leaving the garage was filthy and wreaked of urine I felt unsafe! It was accessible without a key card I tried my best to push past the short comings of this location, and consider the hotel may be understaffed I looked forward to a good night’s rest That was short lived! My bed was hard as rocks There was no bounce or give to the mattress To top it off, there was a miniature dog next door barking periodically through out the night It was HORRIBLE! At check out,I expressed my concerns with the attending clerk and he stated I should be compensated for my bad experience He gave me the manager’s card and said he would write a note explaining my concerns He also stated the manager would call me today to discuss how I should be compensated I still haven’t heard from the manager, even after I called and left a voicemail The best thing about my stay was the omelette! I will take my complaints to the next level since local management can’t be bothered I urge corporate to reevaluate the occupancy levels at their hotels If there are 200 rooms, and only 100 guests can be served effectively, do that and maintain a level of excellence until staffing is sufficient

The bed felt like a cloud!! I was so obsessed with it we look to see the brand! The breakfast was AMAZING!! Pool was nice and heated I had steak for dinner my husband ask for a peace and I did not share it at all!! I truly enjoyed myself!! Nothing bad about my experience at this hotel it was exactly what I was looking for money well spent!

Stan is the man!!! The rooms are clean, modern and very nice The lobby is great But the bar is the BOMB – great food, music and atmosphere and that’s where Stan is

Super personable, professional and friendly We had a great time during our stay in in large part because Stan was so great We’ll be back when we’re in Hoover again and look forward to to hanging out again with the man! Thank you Stan!

I would love to stay more then a night we love It My girls had they bed and i had mines with extra room to move around showers was wonderful tv a one i wish i can give this hotel more than 5 stars

When we check in their was this most nicest Lady at the front desk i think her name was Brianna i just know it start With a b She made our stay more enjoyable

Carol Brown

Let me just say our stay there was enhanced by two very special peopleDominique (desk clerk) and Toni (housekeeping) We were visiting from Kentucky to attend my granddaughter’s wedding

While waiting in the lobby Dominique came from behind the desk to take our picture so that I could be in the photo We met Toni after the wedding when she came to offer us clean towels and clean the bathroom We even shared the wedding pictures with her She is a sweetheart and her attitude is so genuine Definitely would return

Erica Resar

I’d give them even less stars if at all possible The service was horrendous We asked for extra towels and got attitude about using the pool towels

Asked for a clean room because the mattress was stained, and covered in glitter and food and were told it was because people need to put things away properly It’s our first time here She refused to give us linens for the pullout in our room She told me to come down to the front desk so that she could insult me and my children on camera Then when I told her her attitude was not appropriate, she started telling about me and my son to other patrons No one else is available and choice hotels are not answering their phones
