We loved our stay (we were in the separate house)! Walked right down to the water to collect rocks I could watch the seals playing in the Smith River from our house! The house was clean and had everything we needed The hosts left us yummy treats (Chinese food, homemade) in the freezer and lots of snacks, which was awesome as we were hungrier than we thought and it’s about 20 minutes to Crescent City

They had HBO, Netflix and Amazon prime so we had plenty of options when it got dark The host was easy to contact and prompt in his responses The grounds are well kept as well Definitely worth paying a bit more for this unique experience! We’ll be back!

This is a very charming, clean, and comfortable place to stay There is no breakfast yet due to covid but when they start again I bet it is good My family was excited to stay here

I am picky when it comes to hotel bathrooms and our bathroom looked brand new! No cracked sealer around the bathtub or floor Faucets are not corroded Very impressed The staff was very kind when we checked in We would stay here again anytime we are in the area

On my scale, this place earned an 8/10Safety/Security: 8/10Cleanliness: 9/10Air Conditioning: 8/10Electrical outlets: 7/10Shower: 8/10Bed comfort: 6/10Staff: 10/10The only dings on security was a couple of cars in the parking lot with flat tires and tags that had expired many years ago It also appeared someone was living in the woods right behind the place

The place was super charming and very clean, overallThe Air Conditioner was broken when we checked in and for our first 2 of 4 nights, but they refunded us part of our room cost back and replaced the A/C with a brand new unit and it worked great after that The air coming off the ocean was really chilly but unfortunately we were on the back side of the hotel and didn’t get any of that breeze if we opened the windows, so the A/C was neededThe electrical outlets were fineThe shower could have used more pressure but it was really comfortableThe bed was not overly comfortable but wasn’t uncomfortable either and we slept okThe staff was super friendly and helpfulThe Ocean was right across the street from usOverall I would definitely stay here again if I am ever out in Crescent City again

We stayed here during President’s Weekend in 2022 The hotel is very new and the rooms are nice The staff was friendly

The reason I gave it 3 stars is that you shouldn’t expect everything to be available when you are there The pool and workout rooms were closed for “repair” which I didn’t believe I suspect they just don’t have enough staff to manage everything probably due to COVID The breakfast buffet was closed to but they did have the front counter person giving out food Anyway, it’s in a great location if you are going to see the redwoods Also note that dinning options are very few around the hotel The nearest City with a decent selection of restaurants is Crescent City about 20-25 minutes north

I’ve been debating myself to decide if this review should be 3 or 4 stars The reason I landed on 4 is that after a somewhat comical initial encounter with a staff member, we only had positive experiences at this property A few things to note if you consider staying here: It’s far from almost everything (which can be a huge plus or a minus depending on your preference, for us it was a plus)

There’s only a gas station, a diner, and a dive bar type place around the hotel the casino only had slot machines, this might be normal, but I missed more games and didn’t stay long Check-in is 4pm We arrived at 350pm and waited around for a few minutes until a staff member appeared We asked if we could check in and he said ‘not until 4pm’ and pointed to some sign on the wall I looked at my watch and it was 358pm didn’t make us feel that welcome but all we could do was laugh When we did get our room, it was big and clean No issues or complaints in that regard, very standard IHG / Holiday Inn We didn’t try the breakfast so can’t speak to that Our other staff interactions were pleasant For such a new property, the rooms are very loud, we could hear the conversation in the neighboring room quite clearly and they were speaking with normal voices Bottom line, if you want to stay close to nature and away from a city, this is a great option Just be aware that they seem inflexible around early check-in and you might be kept awake at night if your neighbors are noisy

LJ O

Lovely property with lovely people Everyone was so kind The customer service was impeccable and Sierra was lovely throughout our stay

Great place to visit if you’re coming to the area Casino was fun and it was open on the Friday night we were there but not Thursday Food options are limited so just be aware but not a big issue for us

We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations at Anchor Beach Inn We stayed in a corner room with three queen size beds as we had a party of two adults and two teenagers The room offered a good amount of space

It was clean, had a refrigerator as well as a relatively large flat screen TV The beds were nice but were a little firm for my liking The staff on site were friendly including the housekeeper’s The hotel is literally right across the street to a nice beach I believe it is Crescent beach Additionally, there is a nice restaurant that offers some delicious sushi behind the Inn For the value and proximity to the beach and quiet location we would definitely stay at Anchor Beach Inn again Note: if you’ve got the windows open you will hear the sea lions barking!

Tommy “Tommy”

The view was beautiful and the room at first glance was cute, But the bed sheets had some stains on them There was also minimal amenities/toiletries There was no room services during our 4 day , 3 night stay

If we needed any extra towels, shampoo, toilet paper, garbage bags, coffee or any amenities we needed to walk down and ask for them at the lobby There was also no complimentary breakfast provided The view from the room was gorgeous but for the price we paid it was not worth it We expected some better service for the price For a one day stay this is fine, but for multiple days it was a bit pricey for what you get

Sergio Carrillo

The Location of the Hotel was perfect Great access to the beach and close to plenty of restaurants The room was very spacious and I would have to say that our only complaint/issue with the room(and the reason for only 4 stars and not 5) was that the floor was a wee bit dirty couldn’t walk in socks had to keep our shoes on when in the room but other than that we enjoyed our stay! The check-in and check-out was simple and the staff was very friendly!

DO NOT STAY HERE! I made my reservation through Priceline and then received an email that said I had to be checked in by 8:30 PM I made my reservation about an hour before that time and would not have been able to make it by 8:30 I contacted the property owner and tried to inform him of my situation he told me that he would be understanding and issue a refund for the confusion The property owner later changed his story and has declined my refund for the stay despite me immediately calling after making the reservation and never using the room

My advice would be to spend the extra $10-$20 it would cost to get an actual hotel room and avoid these incredibly dishonest people I am not sure why this house is even listed on apps meant for hotels

ben lewis

Place is nice but is in an old house I booked and showed up late and the owner was nice and accommodating about it Be warned that the hostel is a house turned hostel and the guy who runs it is very aware that its not the most ideal set up

Still pretty much free breakfest and coffee is offered The owner also loves to talk which is great because he told me tons of useful info about the area Just be weary that the house isnt on a main street and that you need to try to be quiet while using the bathroom at night otherwise you will wake the other guests Ps book though the website to save money

Toben Lindell

Generally confused by this place It’s organized and clean But then there’s odd aspects

Clean bed but the pillow was very flat The walls are thin, I snore, and felt like I was going to disturb others It felt like it needed something but honestly, Crescent City isn’t a “quaint” town from my impression I’m sure this is a nice stay for alot of folks Was confusing for me

Cozy little place with an extraordinary view The rooms were spectacularly clean and spacious The bed was very comfortable, the linens were plush, and towels were new and fluffy

The bathroom was sparkling clean with bright lighting The deck had chairs to enjoy breathtaking views of sunrise with coffee (Keurig in room!) and sunsets Loved the natural white sound of the ocean waves at night I asked for an EXTRA blanket since my stay was during the cooler weather and it made all the difference in making my stay homey The staff was very kind and polite, went over and beyond to make my stay comfortableI wish I could live here I definitely will be coming back here Highly, highly recommend it!!Oh and did I mention it’s a great place to stay for hikes as it’s 5 minutes from the hiking hotspot, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park!

Loretta St Martin

If there were 10 stars this place would be a 10+! I wanted peace and quiet and access to the beach I found all that and then some! Stayed a week, if work wasn’t calling I’d stay longer! Beach access is right outside your door! There’s nobody on the beach! So many treasures I have found, it’s like Heaven on earth! The desk people are crazy nice and the housekeeping staff go above and beyond Towels are very nice and thick

No pets allowed No fridge or microwave in rooms, but there is a microwave, decent size, that has 24 hour access There is an ice machine too Free breakfast of oatmeal and fruit, perfect for a long, long walk on the beach! You can collect the driftwood and have fires on the beach south of hotel! No garbage on the beach at all Town is 15 miles to the north and has everything you could want There is a Chevron on the south end of town that has its own kitchen and has incredible food Food? Clam chowder is incredible anywhere you go! What a wonderful experience! I’m already booked for next year, twice as long!

Super spacious rooms, clean, comfortable and nice! Great bargain price, one of the nicer Hotels we have stayed at in the area! I’ve paid twice the amount for a crappier motel in this town, very pleased with this establishment! Great views and an easy walk down to the Harbor and a restaurant right next door! We will be staying here again highly recommend! My only negative point would be, there’s no elevator up to the 3rd floor and after playing on the beach all day, it was a little exhausting packing our bags up to the 3rd floor, other than that it was great!

Stopped at Bayview on the way up to Tillamook The staff was very friendly, well the one gentleman who checked me inThe room was dated, but clean

The beds were a bit on the squeakier side, but not awful Made for a decent enough spotThe Bathroom door looked like it had been kicked out at some point with a large crack next to the knobThe exterior of the main building was very worn The floor of the entry way felt soft But, it appeared they had a renovation crew on sight and were working on the buildingNow, for the two things that I had a problem with that is outside the hotel’s control, but important to rememberOne, the fog horns They are fairly loud and you could hear them from the room Could be distracting to someThe other is the area There are shady individuals all around The night I was there, I may not have closed the door on my pickup completely The truck still locked I woke up at 3 am to my alarm blaring When I checked on the truck the driver’s side door was slightly ajar The alarm scared whoever it was off, thankfully But just be mindful of your surroundingsBayview made for an okay stop for the night before continuing our trip Thanks to the staff for being friendly and helpful

Karla Bufka

This poor place has a great staff, just the owner doesn’t care about it and isn’t investing in upgrades or basic maintenance The rooms are dated and shabby, broken furniture and fixtures, everything was rusty from the shower to the light fixtures, jacuzzi jets so filthy we didn’t use it Tv didn’t work reliably

Many of the outlets broken and no battery in the smoke alarm Someone kept calling our room all night Hallway carpets absolutely filthy No screens on the windows No peep hole in the door to see what or who was outside For our anniversary weekend, we would have been happier spending just a bit more $$ up the roadThe bed was clean The staff wonderful, just under staffed dealing as best they can

Super friendly staff, everything was working wonderfully(toilets, sinks, etc), clean rooms, affordable and so accommodating Absolutely love this and I have no complaints! There is a fog horn you can hear but honestly it’s was so faint you don’t hear it in the day and at night is was faint and honestly soothing to hear however they offer rooms away so it’s harder to hear Very spacious rooms, The beds were comfortable, the carpets were clean, and the quality of the hotel is better than the other two I had seen and stayed at in town

Will only stay here for my vacations

Nik

The Ocean View inn was great We went in without a reservation and we’re offered an ocean view room that was a double occupancy room, and it was charged at the single king price We were even offered a military discount

They are very friendly, clean, spacious The beds were very comfortable We have been on the road for several days now and a great place to sleep for the night was priceless Remember to always be happy, mindful, and the best you

Xrystina B

Stayed for 2 nights I gave 2 stars because all of the employees were extremely nice and very helpful But that’s about all the positive things I can say

The beds were very uncomfortable The room smelled weird The walls were SUPER thin – we could hear literal conversations from the next room The building is really old, and it shows its age everywhere The furniture and appliances were all very outdated They were also not serving a continental breakfast because of COVID which I think is not a great excuse anymore since all mandates have been lifted I really don’t mind staying in older hotels, but they should not charge as much as they do for the quality you get

The rooms are fantastic–clean, comfortable, spacious The staff is awesome Everyone is extremely kind and gracious and helpful

Ricardo especially went out if his way to be welcoming and kind at check in, it was such a pleasant situation after a harrowing dark and rainy drive The breakfast is great and the dining room is beautiful Pool is excellent Honestly, this is one of the overall nicest places I’ve ever stayed

Stearns James

Location was nice and convenientThe room was fine and bed was comfortableOnly downside was older bathroom wasn’t as clean as I would have liked The room flooring was wood, no carpet which I liked, but needed to be wet mopped to get up stains

The breakfast service was nice with many optionsThe value for the price we paid was the reason for the 3 star rating

Sapphire Haynes

I am not one to complain but I feel as though we had too many complications for only staying one night and hardly got any sort of apology from the staffMy fiance and I decided to take our 10 month old to the coast and I made a reservation to stay here as well as calling twice to assure our stay We drove 2

5 hours and upon arrival we were given a room that was completely thrashed and had leftover takeout from the previous tenants We went back to the office to get a different room and all we were told was “they would make note of that” We got upstairs and it seemed to be alright so we went to dinner and checked in up front on our way back about pool hours We were told the pool was stocked with towels and didn’t need to bring our own so we got changed and went down When trying to leave there were absolutely no towels anywhere around but nobody had left the pool either so it wasn’t actually stocked and we had to walk our daughter back to the room in the cold Later that night we tried to put things in the fridge only to find there was food left in there too! I went down first thing in the morning to let that know all the issues we had and was told “they would make note of that” and we were on our way Not a good experience at all and quite inconvenient Wish we stayed somewhere else I have never had previous problems as a single best Western before This was frustrating to say the least

We took our crazy crew of small children and pups on a road trip and after being in crescent city and having a hard time finding any place pet friendly and safe we came upon this motel Such a sweet place with amazing and accommodating staff Our room was exponentially clean

We loved the little fire pit, where we were greeted with marshmallows ❤️ It was a nice change of pace Quiet, enjoyed the view of the tree line, sweet We enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant next door and it did not disappoint ❤️ If I ever come back through I would for sure stay here again, who knows maybe we will just go to escape the loudness of the city ❤️

Lexi Angelina

I came in with high expectations based on other reviews We were road tripping up the coast and needed somewhere to stay that was dog friendly When I saw this spot and the reviews I thought it was going to be a quaint stay with a really lovely location

Pros: kind staff, dog friendly, location is fine but not mind blowingCons: this place is incredibly run down There were stains on the floor in the bathroom as well as the carpet There are no baseboards so dust just collects all around the room It’s like it hadn’t been vacuumed in years We always check for bedbugs and while we didn’t find those, it meant we saw behind the headboard on the floor and that was not something I needed to see Dust bunnies aren’t the biggest of deals but there were fingernails down there Like someone acrylics had popped off The furniture that is mounted to the wall was hanging on by a thread The bathroom light was a red bulb for some reason? And the bed, while not the worst, was definitely creaky and not the most comfortable I’ve laid onI hate to give a small, independent spot a bad review but I just can’t believe we paid $160 to stay here for one night when it was that poor of quality If they did some deeper cleaning and made some small room upgrades it would really make a huge difference and that price would seem more reasonable

Josie Lewis

Genuinely so thrilled with our experience here! The rooms are clean and spacious with updated finishes and the staff is incredible! The grounds are well maintained with lots of picnic tables, a Pit Master grill and fire pit and even a meditation space! The cafe next door has delicious food and the gas station across the street has an excellent soft drink selection The outdoor recreation around this location is insane too! Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park is just down the road, there is a visitor center, tons of trails and a few good swimming holes along the Smith River! I would recommend visiting the Stout Grove Trailhead (printed directions available in the lobby) and am looking forward to exploring Grove of Titans the next time we stay at the Hiouchi Motel!
