This hotel is super outdated It needs to be completely renovated We had a problem with our plumbing in both the toilet and shower, the heating system emitted a burning smell, the ceiling entry light flickered constantly, and the electric keypad on the door was broken so we had to keep going down to the front desk

I couldn’t express my frustration to the housekeeping staff because the ones on duty didn’t speak English well I would have given 1 star but the staff was very accommodating and the manager helped us a lot I love the Marriott brand but I wouldn’t stay here at this location again until they bring this place up to code

Don Dude

Well maintained, clean, and comfortable rooms A very quiet location actually, but not far from 91 so good access Pool, gym, etc amenities, breakfast is typical mix of hot and continental

Staff is VERY helpful and pleasant All the HVAC in the rooms is in excellent working conditionParking area is a bit tight, but there is a place to park, just not the most convenient in the highway side lot areaDefinitely a great option if you want kind of a Centralized location for the Hartford/Springfield/Northampton/amherst area Not a tonne of restaurants or brewpub/taprooms nearby, but many within a 15-20 minute drive, so not bad

Worst hotel experience in my life I am willing to bet my last dollar the most of the 5 star reviews on this page are fakeThings they won’t tell you before you book: Indoor pool has a 5 person limit (and time slots were booked our entire stay)

Elevator out of service the entire stay Thermostat out of service the entire stay No microwave in the room The hotel is dingy, it looks nice in their pictures but trust me, this place is like a renovated Super 8 that had lipstick thrown on the pigStaff was rude from the beginning They lied and said there were no rooms available for early check-in until other families from our group arrived with our kids and were making noise in the lobby Then, magically, dozens of rooms opened up After that, the guy at the front desk decided to make his own rule that kids weren’t allowed to be in the hotel common areas without an adult We were treated like prisoners by the staff the entire stayAlso, don’t eat the breakfast My son waited an hour for cold pancakes When we told the worker that they forgot the bacon, he did apologize and return with his bare hand full of cold crumbled up bacon which I declined

I have been staying at Hampton Inn in West Springfield for 7 months now as a travel RN Tammy is always so accommodating with my booking and difficult work schedule The staff is incredible

Yaira is so hardworking, personable, and at your service whenever need be!! She’s awesome! Ruth and David are so pleasant and also very helpful! They always make such great potatoes! The cleaning staff is always so sweet and hardworking as well Would definitely recommend staying here!

Clean enough and with very good breakfast, nice staffHowever, before making the reservation, I was told we could use the facilities after checkout, specifically the pool Which is the way it is in almost every hotel I’ve stayed in my life (even provide storage)

The pool was one of the main reasons we took the hotelThen, that morning I was told we couldn’t use it because we would no longer be guests at the hotel After spending $450 for two rooms for a night we would not be considered guests that day and not be allowed to get in a pool that is just there

Brent Alford

Did not enjoy the stay at this hotel The heater made a strange noise throughout the night I mentioned in the morning but was also checking out so no idea if they resolved

The rooms was one of the smallest rooms I have stayed in at a hotel The bathroom was also small and laid out in a weird design The room was clean and the bed was ok Breakfast wasn’t bad and typical Hampton Inn and included eggs, meat, potatoes and other options In a pinch it would get the job done if traveling through the area and need a basic place to spend the night but there are much better options in the area

Highly recommend I have stayed at the Dhotel numerous times It has a little bit of everything for everyone

Pool and hot tub are well cared for Beds are super comfy Breakfast is included and always a plus But mostly the staff are very attentive, and accommodating This hotel beats any chain/corporate hotel, which is an even bigger plus to support local entrepreneurs! Will definitely be back!

The hotel property is very nice The breakfast is great- fresh food and many choices The rooms are large and comfortable

The reason for the low rating is the terrible staff The front desk called my room at 4:30 AM and woke me up to tell me my son was on the lobby and had arrived My son was sleeping in our room! When I asked about it later that day, the man said that this person had our room number so he called us to see if we were waiting for him I asked if he checked his name or his parents’ names before ringing a guest’s room He said he had not I was woken up because of incompetence When I spoke to the manager the next day he was very nonchalant He did admit that his staff needed to be trained better His attitude was not very apologetic Also- I was there for 2 nights and my room was never cleaned When I asked they said they only clean upon request I wish I had known that I had to request That should be told to guests at check in I asked why I wasn’t told and they said that most guests just know that How can I know if I’m not told The staff is poor with terrible communication with guests Although it’s a very nice hotel, because the staff is so awful, I would not go back nor would I recommend it

Ernest Brown III

Clean and well maintained Staff were friendly and informative Pool and hot tub were just perfect

Breakfast was delicious Rooms were clean and provided that home feeling The only negatives would be the beds were very stiff and uncomfortable The elevator takes a long time to go from point A to point B When you exit the pool area you have to walk to the other side to use the elevator and water is noticed on the floor Sure you can put a wet floor sign down but if it isn’t picked up people will walk all over it and make mud from the dirt from the bottom of peoples shoes

Christine and Joanne are super friendly at the front desk The hotel is clean and quiet and has on site parking They have limited staff post covid, but you wouldn’t know it from the upkeep of the hotel

They offered complimentary coffee since the bistro was closed, due to lack of help I wish more Courtyards did this The room was quiet and nobody was slamming doors or making a lot of noise Overall, the staff at this hotel does a great job

Corey Trusty

I usually don’t write this long of a review, but in this case I felt it was very necessary This was not my best stay at a Marriott property When I arrived and got my keys I had to come back down and have them rekeyed because when I got to the room they didn’t work

There was also no digital key which could have alleviated some of this They were curtesy’s enough to ask if I wanted my room service during my 3-night stay and I said “No” but they were gracious enough to provide service anyway by making the beds and taking out the trash and leaving all the dirty towels The breakfast was laughable but the lobby area was nice, inviting and had TVs everywhere which was definitely better than the one I had in my room in which the service kept messing up Very annoying The beds were comfortable and the shower had great pressure and hot water The room though dated was comfortable and the wifi worked well It was definitely different than what I was used too The laundry area needed a little TLC because it was a little dirty, but the washer and dryers worked very well It is also where I found that my keys didn’t work again even though I kept them in a sleeve and away from my cell phone So it was back down to the front office to get them rekeyed, again I was also shorted a quarter in the $10 roll the hotel provided me which though a small mistake, it was inconvenient and was very indicative of my stay there Lastly, I would say the best thing this hotel had going for it was location Though in a very small town it was on the main drag so everything you needed was within very close proximity of the hotel Unfortunately, my son and I were glad to depart No other facilities were used during the stay (ie the gym, pool or business area)

The Daniel Stebbins Bed and Breakfast was one of our best experiences of places to stay while on our leaf watching adventure The home was absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the home Ruth and Richard are wonderful hosts, and very accommodating to help with our schedule and suggestions of things to do in the area

Our room was very comfortable with a fireplace and super comfy bed and sheetsRuth fixed an amazing breakfast for us the next morning Everything was delicious and freshThank you, Ruth and Richard for a memorable stay!!

I stayed here for a week this summer for business I am not normally a “bed and breakfast kind of person” I like my privacy and generally keep to myself but I needed a place to stay and I am so glad that circumstances put me here

The owners have achieved a perfect blend of a genuine personalized touch with a well run professional establishment They clearly love what they do and are excellent at it The accommodations are a brief walk to the Mount Holyoke College campus and are very clean, updated and very very comfortable with central AC if that is important to you I cannot recommend this place enough I myself tend to view 5-star ratings with skepticism, but honestly, I was completely happy with my experience here Instead of just being a place to crash at the end of a long day, by the end of the week, I realized that had enriched my stay in the area

Lee Ann Sklar

My daughter and I stayed at the Daniel Stebbins House during our visit to Smith and Amherst Colleges While we live in Virginia my great aunt lived in Northampton so I am familiar with the area I wanted to share my love of history and New England with my daughter so I made reservations at a couple of bed and breakfasts after doing some research online

We couldn’t have been happier staying at the Daniel Stebbins House It is a beautiful and lovely maintained historic home and it is evident right away that Ruth and Richard not only enjoy sharing their home but the stewardship that comes with owning a historic property Josh is a talented chef and clearly loves preparing breakfast for the guests each morning Everything was served in freshly made and delicious My daughter and I had a wonderful time and look forward to our next visit

I love this hotel! It’s conveniently located, and there is ample parkingIt is impeccably clean and I appreciate that the facility is entirely non-smokingCheck-in went super-fast, and staff is engaged, polite, and genuinely helpful

My room feels spacious The bed is comfortable The shower has decent water pressure and there was plenty of hot water The room and the hotel overall are quiet, and there’s not much noise from the parking lot area There is a bit of noise from traffic on the turnpike but I can only hear with the window open, and even then it’s barely noticeableThe air conditioner silently pushes out cold air even with the fan on high, the fridge also runs very quietly All the appliances in my room are in nearly new, great conditionI would definitely recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again

Plain Jane HIE Clean rooms and halls Comfortable beds

Quiet Small but nice pool Very little service No coffee or tea out beyond breakfast Breakfast really ends an hour before it’s supposed to They start shutting things off at 9am If something runs our nor replaced unless you make a stink The staff watches you like a hawk instead of cleaning or refilling things Makes you feel like you are being watched and rushed No store or place to get anything beyond vending machines Only one ice machine in the whole hotel

If you’re black and stay here please be cautious because they(the manager and some of the staff) really don’t want you there You’re black/African American presence is an issue for them and all it takes is for one white guest to complain about you before they ensure they go out of their way to call the police or do something to tarnish your character They will smile in your face but will quickly do something shady behind your back and laugh in your face as their doing it

Such a lovely stay!!We enjoyed every minute of our time here Jay was welcoming and kind and our room was clean/quiet/cozy Breakfast was an inspired/homemade dish and we just really couldn’t have asked for anything more

This was an easy review to write because everything was solid, and we’d come back in a heartbeat

dana tomlin

Had a great stay at Jay’s He is very attentive & communicative He & his team were hosting a graduation party over the weekend

He made sure to plate food for me & I enjoyed watching the festivities from my roomYou are given a skeleton key to your room I got the Peurto Rico room! Great space There was a private bathroom with a shower I also had access to a shared bathroom with a deep tub for soaking There are plenty of spaces to enjoy the outside, work, or read a bookThe food was great & Jay’s special blend coffee is NOT to be missed Definitely a very special place 💜

Dennis Schaeffer

You could choose a nice mid-range hotel for your western Massachusetts lodging needs You could It’s a free country

Heck, we almost went that route this weekendBut blessedly, we chose Jay’s B&B instead It was 97 degrees out when we arrived, but we somehow felt ourselves cool off as our host wrapped us in the warmth of his hospitality before we’d even grabbed our overnight bags from the car It’d been a long crazy day And Jay read it on our faces, and then effortlessly acted as a true host does in easing and comforting weary travelersThere’s more to the story from there, and it’s in the same veinBreakfast was a singular delight — only our host Jay could outshine that wonderful meal So do yourself a favor next time you’re swinging through the area — or, heck, make it a destination unto itself — book a stay with Jay and be reminded of what true hospitality is

Edward Sayer

This hotel used to be one of my favorite in the area However, it’s in need of updating there was considerable chipped paint on the credenza in the bathroom

and the results so an unpleasant smell and the room The hotel was pretty busy and there was a considerable amount of noise coming from the room above us We were on the second floor a call to the front desk resolved the matter, but I wonder whether better signage might have been helpful about the need for quiet after 10:00

KMcC Media

The beds were fine The room was simple, clean and adequate The breakfast was quite nice, for a hotel breakfast

Thumbs up on the fried potatoes, and the coffee was surprisingly goodDownsides; yes there was a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room, but no microwaveA major complaint for a traveler in the digital age The TV was an LG, large and fairly nice It was positioned in the middle of the counter on which it was set, and an unnecessary (IMHO) grommet for the cables, made it impossible to push it back to have more usable counter But the inexcusable decision of the hotel was to lock down the control of the TV so much that, even though the HDMI jacks on the TV itself were accessible, it was impossible to select those inputs for the sake of playing one’s own computer or video-game console (for people who travel with their own media) You were stuck watching hotel channels on the nice TV or looking at your own laptop or tablet, if you wanted to stream a movie or something of your own boo

Chris Morrissey

First, important tip: If you want to use the HDMI input on the TV and you have an old remote, ask the front desk for a new remote We did and got a remote with an input selection and were able to watch video from our computerOtherwise, the room was very clean and we thought the beds were very comfortable

Lots of outlets, including usb ports for charging electronics Staff was very nice and helpfulMorning breakfast was very good, although somewhat limitedIt’s fairly expensive, although on par for the areaThey do have an array of electric chargers out front which is helpful for any EV ownersOverall, I would stay here againUpdate:Some have mentioned that there is no microwave in the room, and while true, there is one in the common area that is open for anyoneAlso, I checked with the management and they are in the process of replacing the remotes in all rooms with the newer version that allows selecting a different input, which enables viewing content from an HDMI cable

We had a 3 night stay at Candlewood Suites The room was very decently sized, clean and all the appliances worked great The staff was friendly and explained where everything was

The store area across from the front desk had plenty of food, snacks and games and appliances you could buy or borrow The food prices were really good There’s a gas station and a few restaurants within walking distance It was a very nice stay! Highly recommended

David Syracuse

The check in was smooth and easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful The room was clean and in good shape It had been modernized, but still had some older features

The closet door didn’t latch and there were just 3M hooks on the back of the bathroom door for towels The shampoo/shower gel dispenser had at some point fallen off the wall in the tub, and was just sitting on the vanity in the bathroom; the tape was still there in the tub The HVAC was loud and the wall thermostat didn’t work (even though the controls indicated to use that one) A clever little fan was provided to move air into the bedroom — it worked well The ice maker worked and the dishes were clean The hotel is dog-friendly, and our dog was very comfortable

Kristen Ott

I reserved a room for 8/5-8/7 and tested positive for Covid 8/1 As a responsible adult, I cancelled my reservation as to not spread the illness Because of this, I lost almost $500 due to their garbage cancellation policy that required a cancellation before 7/29

I would recommend staying at literally any other hotel that does not employ predatory cancellation “policies” during an unpredictable pandemic

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had The staff members were helpful and friendly Any requests we had for things like more pillows or towels were taken care of immediately

We even needed help with the television in the room and they were very responsive with that The hotel/our room was immaculate Breakfast was delicious both mornings I would absolutely stay here again

This hotel is very nice The suites are big and have a kitchen which is wonderful if you are staying for business, as I did Bed was very comfortable as well, and I am very picky about beds

The ONLY problem was the horrendous smell of marijuana all over the hotel, even in my room I could not escape it and it was really difficult not to let it ruin my stay People were allowed to smoke right outside the entrance doors and in their cars, but that smell goes everywhere People were obviously smoking in their rooms and there was nothing that staff could do about it The smell would come into my room from the hallway and through the heating vents It was awful I can’t believe that a big hotel like this cannot address this problem

The rooms are clean but the thermostat in my room doesn’t work properly It needs to be replaced The bedroom door is coming of the hinge

I feel like for the price that they charge people, these shouldn’t be issues They only clean rooms on certain days Of your floor is the floor they are doing that day, you have to call them and request it
