I have been staying here for a very long time If you decide to stay here you for sure won’t be disappointedThe resort was beautiful Access to a family-friendly beach was perfect Everything was so clean our room had a beautiful view of the Bay The pool was incredible and very warm We ate at kukuis restaurant which was delicious The Marriott staff were incredibly friendly and helpful I hope I don’t have to wait too long before I get to go back

Veronica Volk

Loved this resort We picked it for the beautiful pool and secluded beach Also the availability to walk to near by restaurants (like Dukes) ABC Store, and Nawilliwili Tavern

The room was out dated, which didn’t bother us at all since we didn’t come to Kauai to sit in a hotel room The grounds were beautiful and that mattered most to us While we were there, they were renovating the rooms So I can only imagine this place will be great inside and out once its completed The construction didn’t bother us at all I didn’t even notice any noise, but it just depends on what they are working on that day It was our anniversary and my birthday and they gave us a special ground-floor room after we told the front desk, and some anniversary coupons! They made us feel special and everyone was oh so kind to us Would HIGHLY recommend

Michele was so kind and made our trip such a special one She was extremely accommodating and very helpful It is in a perfect location in Hanalei to access the beach and the little town with shops and dining

I loved having a full kitchen and bathroom The grounds we kept very well This is actually a perfect spot to stay if you plan on hiking the Kalalau trail It is a quick walk to the shuttle that takes you to the trail head The staff on the property was so kind She even offered some camping supplies that others had left behind that she though may be helpful for our trip If you are expecting a resort, this is not the place for you But if you are looking for something quiet and quaint, this is perfect It offers beautiful views of the mountains And it made me feel like I had my own little apartment in Hawaii I would highly recommend this place

Stoddard Meigs

Super cute, close to the action, tiled shower, full kitchen, nice and clean, cold AC, basically all you could want My girlfriend and I spent 4 days at the inn and loved it It felt local and homey

On top of that there are some hammocks and a grill outside I’ll definitely want to come back with a group to take advantage of all the hangout spots! Michelle was also really responsive and friendly

Stephen Sherman

We had a good time staying here Great setup and close walking distance to downtown I would have provided a 5 star but we were not a fan of the other guests smoking everywhere

Because of that it’s kind of hit or miss whether or not you’ll have a good time If smoke doesn’t bother you then nothing to worry about, otherwise you can at least hunker down in your unit with their great AC to ignore the folks chain smoking outside

I have been staying here for years If you stay for a few days you for sure will love it I’m sure!Lovely place to stay Lovely views of mountains and ocean Lovely garden Isle, with beautiful views; love watching the rain, Clouds and sun come and goThe property is recently renovated – all new paint, furniture and appliances The grounds are always clean and well maintained! They even clean the light poles!

Trey Sims

Read the recent reviews – you will likely choose to go elsewhere!!!Bottom line – not worth the $$$$$!First off- the island is amazing The property is very pretty and well manicured Rooms are large and comfortable

That’s the good stuff Now the bad:- only one restaurant for the whole place that opens at 11:00am Slow service No sit down breakfast option- no late checkout, room upgrades, welcome gift, or breakfast, regardless of your Marriott status- no beach access- golf course associated with the property is closed No one at the hotel seemed to know why- Chickens!!! Kinda cute when you first see them Not so much when they are eating at the table next to you- see photos- Roosters!!! They start calling about 5am and do not stop- we got a handicap accessible room, which is fine, but the shower leaked all over the bathroom- Views are hit or miss Some look at the ocean or golf course We got a view of a tree

Erik Stavlund

If you love feeling like you’re in an elderly resort community come visit this resort in Princeville A community that honors white Europeans with a fountain the moment you enter I should’ve known

Service was slow and uncaring and this from someone who lived and studied in Hawai’i Instead of communicating that, like everyone else, they were short staffed they delivered cocktails proudly and made people wait for dinner service requests or even acknowledgement and items up to 10 or 15 minutes I had to tell the server we were there He knew we were upset and did or said nothing! This isn’t a poke stand it’s an expensive resort If you’re going to charge more than double for drinks and food the service better be there I really appreciated how the wait staff took our complaints and used the rest of the guests to laugh at us Enjoy the poor service suckers…we actually left the table and bought drinks in the gift shop I felt bad the other guests didn’t even know they weren’t getting the service they deserved for the price For perspective I’m a United Million Miler, a Hilton Diamond for life and lived/worked here Hilton Waikiki, on the other hand, did a phenomenal job

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon last week and we loved it! The staff was super nice and the check in process was quick and easy We got the room that we requested and it was very clean The property is really pretty and open concept, but there are chickens that roam freely

However, they are everywhere on the island so it can’t be avoided Kauai is a very laid back simple island/vacation spot so if this is going to bother you, reconsider, but for us, we did not mind at all We will definitely be back!

Beth Wyatt

We were here three days Oceanview was great, our room was cleaned daily Loved being able to check out a cooler and beach mat

Room was clean Why the bad review? Refused an hour later checkout after way increasing the price when we didn’t see housekeeping staff until the afternoon We had one front desk staff that was kind Other two couldn’t be bothered Outlets beside the bed didn’t work, phone didn’t work, outlets at desk two of four worked Pool is incredibly small and murky Breakfast was $27 and very limited selection offered If I’d payed a couple hundred a night that would all be tolerable However, for the price this is all unacceptable I’ve spent over 60 nights in a Hilton property in the last four months I know what to expect and this wasn’t it Beyond disappointing

Erin B

Great hotel, centrally located in the island with a super family friendly beach park basically on property There are two pools, but only one hot tub (which was sadly not working while we were there) There is a laundry facility available

The restaurant was open for breakfast only but it was a nice hot breakfast with a good view Free parking was available I thought this was honestly a fantastic hotel option and would definitely go back

Such a beautiful hotel, we chose a oceanfront room and our room was pretty much close to the sea We had an amazing stay , for the six day we were there , they cleaned our room just once You can get fresh water and towels every morning at the reception

There is a really good restaurant next to the hotel and if you are staying at the hotel you can get free appetizers at this restaurant Bull Shed

Kevin Hoover

We had a one night stay (we are on the island for 3 weeks and had a 1 day gap) and we’re able to check in early (1:00 pm vs the normal 3:00 pm) Our room on the second floor at the end of the second building is nice & clean and has a great view of the ocean

Double beds and a small bathroom, mini fridge and coffee maker, a large TV and multiple USB ports on the lamps and the small clock The balcony was nice and has two chairs (not very comfortable for long stays) and a small table The Grab & Go breakfast was okay, considering what the pandemic has done to normal communal breakfasts We also “rented at no charge” a couple of bikes for a half hour trip on a nearby path The staff are friendly and efficient in their tasks A nice “ boutique” hotel with great views!Only negative comment would be about the chickens that are everywhere! The roosters are doing their thing all day and night and it becomes annoying very quickly, but it seems to be part of the Hawaiian experience these days

Kelly

Everything about this hotel is it’s proximity to the ocean It seems that almost any room has an ocean view – if not directly facing, from a side balcony As others have mentioned there is a small table & two chairs on the balcony which allow you to sit outside but aren’t very comfortable

The property however is very dated – I would NEVER call it a boutique hotel as indicated on the websiteWhen you reserve you can’t select bed type (listed as double or king) We arrived late after delayed travel – I didn’t even think to indicate that a king was preferred (as we’re a couple) Ended up with two doubles and just slept Lucy & Ricky style Just seems like you should be able to select bed type with your reservation I take responsibility for not asking to change it but was frankly too tired on arrival and we only stayed three nightsThis has the potential to be a great hotel if they worked it’s mid century style design and did some necessary rehab But currently the building just feels like a sad, old hotel that needs serious renovation As far as our room, maybe we ended up with a weird one? It was on the second floor & was a rather strange room with beams interrupting the corners of the room (so you couldn’t even walk out one of the sliding doors b/c the beam was in the way) There appeared to be somewhat newish carpeting but looks like there was a left over border of short pile orange carpet around the edges which was bizarre (& smelled musty) The louver window frame in the bathroom is literally eroding around the edges & corners (and does face the walkway) One of our sliding doors wouldn’t lock (which is really basic upkeep) There are fire pits on the property, but one of the nights we wished to use them, they weren’t even lit (and the weather would have allowed it) Overall we selected this room based on other reviews and the site images The images must be from their best or most rehabbed room? One positive, the room does have an A/C unit, but you can get by with screen doors & an overhead fan and hear the oceanSomething I’ve noticed lately – at this hotel and a few others There seems to be a very fine line between a two and three star hotel While this is listed as a three, I don’t think filtered water in the lobby, a free water bottle and having a yoga class in the morning should categorize it as such – I would consider it more of a two 1/2 given the overall condition of the hotel & our room (maybe others are in better shape?) I say this comparatively to the four star hotel we stayed at on another part of the island – difference was beyond vast

I’ve done it all inclusive with a swim-up bar Sometimes it’s not fun to be surrounded by 20 drunk people in the same pool This was an amazing experience I highly suggest looking at the pictures others have posted the insides of these rooms are remodeled and are an absolute beautiful experience

Perfectly located within walking distance of the grocery store and a few restaurants During my stay the beach was still being worked on so there is no sand but you can still walk around and enjoy the new ecosystem with the rocks The only downside was and I don’t know if this is the case in every room but our two bedroom had a pull out bed couch thing in one of them and my fiance was six months pregnant Not enough to lose a star but be aware of this

Kay Doolittle

We hoped with extra covid travel requirements in early Dec 2021, we’d have a quieter & more relaxing stay vs many prior visitsSadly two other units brought screaming babies with them (why – your children were constantly crying??) & someone also had a dog that barked (never knew animals were even allowed @ KK and we’ve been coming here for decades

That said; unit was clean, well stocked and very comfortable Pool was a little cold; but doable

We ended up needing a place to stay last minute during our Kauai trip and we were so thankful there was vacancy here Oscar was extremely kind and helpful He went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable

We were originally supposed to stay at an airbnb on the opposite end of the island but had a terrible experience the first night and had to look for something else short notice We found this motel after searching on Google Maps and we were so happy we decided to stay here Oskar really took care of us and the rooms were very clean and comfortable

Overall this is a beautiful resort in a great location We enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants, shopping, and the beach The grounds are immaculate and absolutely beautiful

The front staff could be a little more friendly and helpful Our room was much smaller than we expected from the pictures Also, the provided bamboo tripod for hanging towels on the lanai needs to be attached to the wall While I was sitting outside, the wind blew and it hit me in the head I’m glad it didn’t fall on my 3 year old This is a great resort overall and I would stay here again

George N

Great location, lovely and well maintained grounds, friendly staff Close to eating and shopping venues (walking distance), so you don’t always need your car Coconut Marketplace nearby with a decent market for food and coffee

Nice pool and poolside bar Room was fine, liked having the refrigerator, sink and microwave Nice lanai to enjoy the ocean view Can swim at the beach in front of the resort, but need to be careful Kid friendly beach very close by A/C Parking was pretty full, so could be a challenge some evenings Will be back, was the perfect resort for us

Russ Mellon

We recently stayed at the Aston Islander for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our experience Our unit faced the water so we could watch the fantastic sunrises from inside our unit, on the patio or on the nearby beach with sand between our toes The grounds are immaculate and offer a variety of plants and flowers to enjoy

The pool and pool side bar were very nice, as were the happy hour (3-6 pm) drinks A trial/walk makes it easy to access nearby beaches and restaurants There is a nice variety of bars and eating establishments in the nearby Coconut Market You can stay here without a car if you like

Our stay was perfect! A few weeks prior to our trip we heard from the concierge desk who were extremely helpful with sending us recommendations and making a dinner reservation for us at Dukes since there were no more online reservations offered The pool and beach were exactly what we were looking for when booking this resort! The bar and servers around the pool were great! And breakfast and lunch were delicious The grounds and our room were spectacular

Overall one of the best travel experiences We felt like VIPs the entire trip!

First the good The best pool I have every been in, just amazing Nice location great beach

A lot of food option within walking distance The airport shuttle was nice and efficient The ABC store very nice and within walking distanceThe bad Maybe our room was not standard, but no soap dish in the shower, had to either have soap on a rope, or set it on the floor of the shower No microwave, no ice machine on our floor when we arrived, but later got one installed the day before we left Construction work on our floor all day Fire door to the main hall wouldn’t stay close, I would sometime go out and close it to keep the sound level down The A/C unit was loud and would rattle The nearby parking lot was often completely full

We are Marriott members and stayed at the other Sheraton in Kauai and it was wonderful We wanted to stay at a different location to explore all of the island so we picked this Sheraton as well While we loved the location of our room that was a partial ocean view, it was a small room

But the view was great and we loved waking up in the morning and just walking out to the beach from the room That was our favorite part of the stay here However, for some reason it was really difficult to get enough shower gel for 2 people! Shower gel was not replenished in the rooms daily Next time we will have to bring our own shower gel and shampoo Our shower was terrible and both the shower and faucet for the tub would run at the same time Also, our room key expired after the first night so we had to wait for an engineer to go to our room to charge the door before we could get in back in really late at night We noticed there is basically no security at this hotel as anyone could walk into the buildings where our rooms were I wish that there was a code to get into the door or that we would have to use our room key to access the door Also, as Marriott members, we get later check out everywhere but they were only able to extend it an hour, which didn’t help because we wanted somewhere to relax right before our flight back but it was not enough time so we had to go elsewhere to wait

After reading some less than stellar reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we had a great experience at this resort We had an ocean view room that was extremely spacious, quiet, clean, comfortable (& cool thanks to AC), with a fantastic view The staff were very friendly and we loved the amenities like the beach chairs, beach umbrellas, bikes, towels, and refillable water stations

We also liked that they had cultural activities (lei making, ukulele classes) and we felt so lucky that we happened to be staying there on a night when a free local event was being held that included a lei contest and live music/hula show We truly felt the spirit of Aloha at this event! The pool and hot tub were very nice and it wasn’t difficult to get a pool chair when you wanted one The location was great – centrally located to go explore the island and near lots of dining options I am very sensitive to noise and we did not have any problems whatsoever My only complaint is that we were not able to earn points for our stay since it was booked through Costco travel Hopefully we can come back again soon, thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort It is located in arguably the best/central location of the island It is 45 min from south or north shore

Another underrated aspect of the hotel is its size While it isn’t a large resort, it has everything a resort should but not overwhelming The service was really exceptional Food at breakfast/cafe/pool was good Overall room had all amenities one would need and was nicely appointed
