Absolutely wonderful hotel! All of the staff were extremely friendly and so very helpful The bed was just about the most comfortable ever Everything was so pretty and so clean

The breakfast was extremely impressive Parking was good enough for a truck and trailer If ever back anywhere near the area we would definitely go back to this hotel!

Brian Bailey

Love it! Hotels usually have a certain fancy or business expectation What I found here was a fun hotel that was just the right touch of fancy without being fake The lobby area had proven to be a great design

You can lounge, have private conversation, and play pool There are tons of outlets and USB charging hubs There is an honor system snack bar as well

Alice Pinto

I had a good stay Great location, ample parking in a large, well lit lot Public areas and guest room interior are clean, well designed with simple but effective furnishings

It felt cozy and comfortable The property is well maintained Only con is that the hvac unit in the room was loud throughout the night Good thing I was still able to get sleep

My family and I stayed here for 40 days after the purchase of a house fell through and we needed to find another home Due to the length of our stay the team at Residence South was able to work out a great rate for us to rent 2 rooms during this period of time on very short notice My wife and I have 6 kids with us and though nothing is as good as having the family in our own home, the team at Residence South were so helpful in making our stay as enjoyable as possible

There were a few issues with the rooms from time to time but nothing a simple mechanic or janitorial fix could not resolve Overall the rooms were adequate and modern The actual one-bedroom unit has a dedicated oven, though small, that came in handy for the long haul The number one reason I give this hotel a five-star review is solely due to the staff and the Customer Service experience From the cleaning crew to the front desk and management team, all have been a joy to work with My two-year-old son even became fond of Cecilia and knew her by name They became good buddies over the 40-day period To this day, now that we are finally in our own home he continues to ask about her Thank you all for such a pleasant stay during our family’s difficult time I would recommend this hotel to any family that is in need of extended-stay accommodation in the Cedar Rapids area

Destiny Rae

Friendly service, fantastic suites, decent continental breakfast They always ask me what floor I prefer and do their best to accommodate The rooms have their own thermostat, coffee, dishwasher, glass stovetop, ice maker, large fridge, and a walk in shower

I wish the beds were softer, but I can say I’ve never woken up with back pain after staying in!

Alex Hayes

8 month battle with this place with no resolution!! Absolutely no value in customer service Still waiting for my $350+ refund!!!Booked to stay here back in July 2021, upon arrival was told that there was no room for me due to a system glitch and could go to the holiday inn on Collins and my room would be covered and I would not need to pay anything once i got there Great right? Things happen and you are making it right so I’m cool with the situation

Turns out I did have to pay, was told I’d be refunded within two weeks 8 MONTHS LATER still nothing! Every time I call the hotel, no one can help me so they take my info and say someone will call me back BUT NOONE EVER DOES Marriott customer service now tells me there is “nothing else they can do for me” since this hotel states they paid the holiday inn so they could refund me However, the holiday inn states they have no record of this payment, will not process the refund because of it, and no one from this hotel can provide proof of payment or even return a phone call!!!Absolutely ridiculous that I now loose over $350 on a stay that was supposed to be free since I had booked with points, and not a single person wants to take any steps to helpGreat to know that a company like this is happy to do nothing when times are already tough enough and every penny we earn is crucial to our lives Will never stay with this franchise again!

We were in town for the college World Series I had booked three nights prior to us checking in how ever not knowing if our team won or lost, we decided to try and cancel our third night When we arrived I talked to the owner and he was exceptionally pleasant

He gave us the two nights and canceled the third and told us if we need the third night that we should just come back and he would get us a room We felt very safe at this hotel There are cameras all around and the camera views are at the front desk The rooms are newly renovated and are exceptionally clean & spacious The bed and pillows are very comfortable The location is awesome!!! You are close to many varieties of eating places, gas stations and grocery stores The staff is VERY friendly and helpful We would stay here again without a second thought anytime that we are in the area We highly recommend staying at American Inn in Cedar rapids, Iowa

Vicki Coulter

Will definitely stay HERE again and refer others!PAST experiences with OTHER budget-friendly motels included ultra-smoke- “scented” “NONSMOKING” rooms and suspiciously sudden discovery that only top-priced rooms were available for our required datesAMERICAN INN, however, was swift to confirm availability in newly refurbished room with wonderful rate, and even a deposit waiver We stayed almost a week and were always impressed with the hands-on work taken on as they continued the extensive renovations

Always a gracious greeting and offer to help in any way Room was spacious with big, comfy bed, desk, sofa, coffee maker, micro&fridge,Looking forward to next time! The swimming pool may be available then

Clean, modern hotel with pool and laundry services Staff was courteous and kind Love their dog policy and found the hotel off BringFido website

Only reason 1 star off is due to the smoke smell in the lobby Several ppl smoke out front (including staff) and it drifts inside making your welcome unpleasant Lobby is stocked with essentials and food if needed Hotel is located next to pizza and breakfast restaurants

Allen Smith

The stay here was ok There was no view, the rooms were just ok, the included breakfast was nice It was all just ok

I think what’s missing at this hotel is the attention to detail, as any hotel guest knows, it’s all about the details Case in point, the lock inside the door of the hotel room was low enough my toddler could reach it and unlock it, meaning if he woke up he could just unlock the door and walk out How much can you sleep knowing your toddler can escape easily? Me not so much Another example was the oily hand prints and oily hair area marks on the headboard when we arrived, which I cleaned when I got there, and I couldn’t swim in the pool because there were hairballs in it, nasty, but it’s all these details that really could be addressed that make it feel like a sub-par stay I will say the location is excellent and the staff was always helpful

CleanFriendly and helpful staffRoom was very niceKitchen had all the necessary items(utensils, dishes) Come To think of it, I don’t see pots and pans, but we didn’t need themFree washer and dryers and they had five of them

Clean and nice pool area(we didn’t use it, but it looked really nicely maintained)Gym had all the necessary equipmentI’m not one for buffets and only got the yogurt, so I cannot say if the breakfast was good or not, but there was a lot of choices 100% would stay again

Jim Dallas

I loved the hospitality and friendliness extended by the entire hotel staff Let me first say thank you Sinclair for all of the good advice and information you provided regarding the city of Cedar Rapids Most importantly, thanks for sincere and professional courtesy assuring me my 2 queen bedroom suite without any reservation

Your staff is great and Lamarie Purchase is a real sweetheart with a BIG HEART I had the fortunate time to speak with her regarding some of her personal goals and endeavors which validates her as a caring and genuine person of goodwill In regards to Mr Gavin, where is my ice cream? Just kidding but thanks for your front desk professionalism, keep up the good work ANNIE, James Brown ain’t got nothing on you because he may be the hardest working man in show business but you are truly the hardest working woman in the hotel business My family and I really enjoyed our stay with all of you and would recommend the Staybridge Suites without reservation May GOD Bless You AllThanks,Jim

Carla Parr

My suite was very comfortable for my extended stay (>1 month) The staff is professional and accommodating The hotel is clean and has great amenities

The reason for only 4 stars is, while the pool is very swimmable, it is not taken care of properly It’s not regularly cleaned and water is not monitored as seen by floaters, sand in bottom and cloudiness As stated is it swimmable but could be monitored much closer Kind of sad no whirlpool Over all I would recommend and definitely stay again

Age of Exploring

Stayed for two nights The room was comfortable and clean They had one of the best free hotel breakfasts I’ve had in a long time

The staff was friendly and it’s close to the airportThere are not a lot of places to eat around the hotel, so plan accordinglyIt’s a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable place to stay I’d stay again

Sandy McGinness

We stayed here for convenience as we passed through this city on our vacation This hotel was very clean & comfortable Although the hot tub was not working, the pool was very nice

The staff was very apologetic for the lack of the hot tub and were very friendly/helpful throughout Breakfast was also good with a variety of hot foods and grab n go foods We will choose this location again!

B Neal

Hotel was clean and modern – common areas and our room Not sure on some reviews that stated outdated, as I did not see that One thing I really liked is the HVAC unit had the option for “constant fan”

I did not hear the airport or sounds in the hallway Reason why I did a 4 star and not 5 is because the hallway where you enter the room has no ceiling light This is the area with the luggage rack and area to hang your clothes up, so was hard to go through your clothes and supplies

ROOM 205 PROS: Bathtub & toilet was clean, no mold Linens were clean I always check for bed bugs, didn’t find any thankfully, mattresses looked clean and were comfortable

Pool water was clear and towels were always stocked, no musty smell Carpeted areas seemed vacuumed Breakfast area clean, limited options, we had eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, juice, and they were all fully available till the end of their breakfast hours, breakfast attendant was friendly and helpful Would probably stay here againROOM 205 CONS: Surfaces were dirty in room, had to ask for Lysol wipes to clean them myself Tiled areas by kitchenette and bathroom and sink areas could all use a good mopping Couch could use a surface treatment for stains & stuff stuck to them Unfortunately, they close the pool promptly by 10pm, we book hotels for their pool amenities and always appreciate when the pool hours aren’t so strict when traveling with kids, especially when we’re supervising our kids in the pool area (I get the rule could be helpful for unsupervised kiddos)6/10 for dirty floors and surfaces, but these could be easy fixes Would probably stay here again

Mike Dee

Clean, pleasant rooms with a great breakfast selection but no refrigerator in every room You can use their microwave in the kitchen area to heat meals up The workout room was very clean and had a good selection of weights and cardio equipment

The temperature was nice and cool The staff at the front desk was easy to work with and made checkin a breeze The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a good size Also, the wifi was solid Overall a great place to stay with some great food options in the vicinity

Everyone was so polite in every position The room was quiet and comfortable The restaurant was great

The little extras were appreciated I even got a last minute ride to the airport, even though they technically don’t do that on a regular basis anymore The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I did not receive Maid service I am not sure if I was missed or they just don’t do that anymore as since Covid most hotels wait until you check out If I needed anything I had it in five minutes or less, though

Blake Oyen

The one and only nice thing about this hotel is it’s location But please do not expect anything more than that like a microwave or fridge in your room Instead you would be told there is a common microwave in the lobby

I was so thrown off by this as I travel a lot for work and this is the first I’ve ever heard of this The pool is closed and not hot tub Parking is across the street not much you can do about that but trains go by about every hour or so and walls were thin enough I could hear a conversation that was 2 rooms down The staff was very friendly I will say They understood my frustration of the microwave and mini fridge but the time of there was none available I had to take the top of the toilet every time it flushed to reset the seal or it would keep running Very disappointed for the price

molly miller

Our group booked over 100+ rooms July 30 checking out Aug 5 Everyone went above and beyond in making our stay comfortable From check in to the courtyard to the banquet room, to the breakfast and crazy dinners we thank you for the amazing service

Brian at the front desk and all the other front desk clerks kudos and thanks for the warm cookies The shuttle service thank you Jason rocked it! Special thanks to Steve and the food and beverage staff We kept you running and the service was tops! I cannot say enough Thank you from the Road Glide National Rally!

This hotel is in a bad need of upgrading Our room was spacious and comfortable except for the bathroom One of the light fixtures had rust on it

The tub had a rust stain which may have been caused from endless dripping of the faucet The hook on the back of the for towels had been removed and not replaced The grout on the tub was gross We had a new refrigerator in the room I know it was new because all of the blue tape was still on it

Derek Grayson

I was given a suite which had nasty, worn furniture The room was filled with ants as well I am struggling to get a receipt because their system will not send one out like every other Marriott property

The bar / restaurant is poorly staffed and difficult to order Stay away from this place I am being generous with my 2 star rating

Time 4420

Guest service is phenomenaly good so far I have been here just one day and will be here for another 2 days The room, not so much

We have found trash and food, peanuts and chex mix along with gum Then there is the shower There is no fan so the steam gets out of control Also it will not drain I tried cleaning it out and it still won’t drain Now the rest of the hotel is very nice Personally I think the price is a little high but in a lot of cases you get what you pay for so it is what it is

The hotel and the room we stayed in are both beautiful, the service is awesome Molly who ran the breakfast in the morning was absolutely AMAZING! She was externally nice to everyone and she was the only person working She still managed to run orders from the kitchen and keep up with large demands

She was extremely generous to me and my wife each morning and very helpful with everything we wanted for breakfast I would definitely stay here again!I would recommend getting a room with breakfast included because you save so much on it if you stay multiple nightsHope your experience is as great as mine!

Sarah Tyler-Peterson

The hotel and staff are top notch Everyone was welcoming The rooms were spotless and the linen and pillows were so comfortable

Then my daughter forgot her beloved baby blanket She figured this out after we drove home, 5 hours away We called and the staff were SO accommodating and looked for her lost blanket They called us a few hours later and the housekeeping staff found it!!! They mailed it back to us 🙂 This went above and beyond anything I’ve experienced at a hotel!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Vicki Coulter

Wish I could remember names of all who served us Wonderfully gracious and helpful I do remember Ms Michelle, the gracious 1am night auditor who checked us out and made sure to meet our needs that stormy night

(Thanks!)I messaged several questions before and after our stay and always received gracious, timely answer LOVED THAT But not near as much as I loved our room … gorgeous, roomy, and open with those stunning floor to ceiling windows… and the food at Class Act, I think their restaurant is called Top notch all the way Be sure to make your way to the back garden outside from the restaurantHighly recommend bumping up your budget a touch to get a suite! Gorgeous kitchenette with roomy fridge and optional, yet economical, huge drawer-format microwave Need to bring your own bowls and silverware, however! __My bad I did not even ask the front desk, and as it turned out, kitchenware could have been easily supplied upon request! I should have expected such graciousness considering the rest of my experience!__Bed is comfy and beautiful, and shower divine!

Room was good, gave 3 stars because of 2 issues During checkout, I requested to check out at 11:30 instead of their normal time 11 and was asked to join their IHG mailing list/membership in order to do so Also in breakfast they did not have pancakes (their machine was not working) or milk(they were out of milk)

Being vegetarian my options got limited to only bagel and juices

Kayla Purchase

from the time we checked in to the time we checked out, daniella & the rest of the staff made sure we had an excellent stay The room was comfortable, the beds were firm, and plenty of hot water with good pressure for morning showers Good standard hotel breakfast – daniella and the staff made sure items remained well stocked

Got in late, had to change rooms due to a large (blood?) stain on the comforter that was all the way through to the sheetsHallways and elevator in the hotel looked like they had not been vacuumed in weeksSecond room the door was falling off the hinges

Felt dirty the entire time I was thereBreakfast options at 8:00am were eggs or yogurt That was allPlenty of other places to stay in the area I would skip this one

Marnie Tams

Where do I start?First, the one luggage cart they have has 2 flat tires, one completely blown outWe were put in room 224, put my card in the door, opened it to find a family already in the room Awkward!!Went down to tell the front desk lady and she acted like we were crazy

Said there isn’t anyone assigned to that room, and there shouldn’t be anyone in itMoved us across the hall to room 225 that was supposed to be a King suite with kitchenette It had a room with 2 queen beds, and additional room with another queen bed Which we thought was great until we found bugs! Googled what bed bugs looked like and it was identicalWent back down to the receptionist, who by now was not happy to see usEnded up on the 3rd floor, room 308We would have moved hotels but with the baseball tournament in town, there weren’t any other options that were close We drove from Utah to spend time with family who was in town for baseballOur room was clean, tore the bed apart to make sure there were no bugs Only other problem we had with the room was our toilet was cloggedNot ONE person working there had any kind of identification that they worked there, no logos on clothing nothing The entire time we were there, nobody had on name tags, logos, nothing The housekeeping people also had no uniforms We chose to keep our do not disturb sign out after hearing a man in the hallway complain about things being taken from his roomNeedless to say, we would never stay there again!

Thad Indermuhle

Room was same as anywhere Plenty good for one nightStaff was alright

Not the most friendly but okSeverely low on towels as others have notedBreakfast was a disappointment Never expected a five star experience but there was no cereal, waffles, or even bread, bagel, or toasterDecent stay, will likely look somewhere else next time

I’d recommend the nearby Homewood Suites by Hilton before this aging property The Homewood, a newer property, has resumed its evening social, which is one of the main reasons I choose Residence Inns The pool was “closed indefinitely” but there was no work in progress

Room 215 had cracked tile in the kitchen and a shower curtain rod that was sagging from the holder The breakfast was good, but it was nearly the same every day for four days More variety would be better The staff was excellent, but I probably wouldn’t choose THIS Residence Inn again

Website photos are older & misleading The hotel had a wind storm the year before & some things were still not repaired Also, I was told by the front desk staff that a basketball team stayed there a few weeks prior & they destroyed the glass basketball backboard

Glass was still all over the court The pool is closed, with no date to reopen All carpet is dated & stained The rooms curtains were held together with duct tape The room glasses were dirty Milk from breakfast was curdled The outdoor patio was nothing like the photo and there was cigarette butts everywhere I give it a 2/5 because the bed was good and the hotel was quiet
