Night desk help was very helpful and friendly, morning team seemed to be bothered by us checking out Especially the gentleman that kept coming out from the back office! Stayed both before we flew out and when we returned We had the same experience both times

Hotel is being renovated (really needed!,) so some rooms are nicer than others Great water pressure and lots of hot water! Could be the morning staff deals with construction complaints more than night crews and thus the grumpiness First night was on the first floor, Window locks didn’t work Was a little worried since the hotel has a giant security fence around the perimeter No maintenance staff for the evening so we used what was there to secure it Slept better on the plane the next day LOL! Very convenient to the airport and understand hotel is being renovated I am sure it will be back to what is was in no time

Southwest Airlines screwed 56 of its customers and put most of us up in this hotel The hotel was fast, efficient, and had two people working the front desk once we finally got to the hotel They had a small free shuttle to and from the airport and given there were so many of us rescheduled to fly out at 6am the next morning, provided uber rides to ensure that their guests arrived back at the airport on time, early the next morning

They provided us with comfy beds, a hot shower, and had a quick grab-and-go breakfast ready with hot coffee Kudos to the two PM workers and especially the night shift front desk staff member who worked his tail off to ensure a smooth morningThank you for making our unanticipated stay a little more bearable

We checked in around 5:30 pm on Sunday May 8, and found out that the shampoo, shower gel and coffee condiments (sugar, cream, etc) were not refilled We asked the front desk for refills but unfortunately, the housekeeping was gone for the day

However she was kind enough to give us a shampoo in a plastic cup I haven’t experienced this on other Holiday Inn Express locations The breakfast was good but that’s about it I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this hotel when we visit Oakland again

It felt nice to be in a clean, fresh room! I didn’t see one spec of dirty Love the scent of the shampoo and the bar of soap! Yum! The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tv didn’t have any channels

they did send someone up to help but he couldn’t get it working then they called my room and asked if we want to switch rooms… I had 5 kids with me and we all had just brought our stuff in and got off the road from a 4-5 hour drive didn’t want to move especially after feeling how comfy the beds were 😅 maybe y’all should have housekeepers double check the TVs are working properly before checking in guests I would expect the TV to work if y’all gonna charge me $52142 for 2 nights Oh there isn’t a microwave either 🙁 they have a fridge but no microwave in room to warm up food :/They have very little parking space around the hotel but they do have an overflow parking garage right next to the hotel But other than that everything was great Especially the customer service! Sorry for the other guests that had to hear me and the kids 😅Thank y’all so much though ❤️‍🔥 definitely would recommend others to stay here

We stayed here for 2 weeks The rooms are very clean & so quiet, we got great sleep here every night All the hotel associates were just great

All smiles & so pleasant all the time Darlynn (spelling?) Is absolutely amazing! She made us feel so welcome, not just at check-in, but every day we were there We’ve stayed at hotels all over the country for work & she is probably my favoriteThe hotel is in a great location, so close to SF & Oakland for sightseeing My only negative feed back would be the extreme lack of parking & no microwaves in the rooms Otherwise, we had a great stay

Aryan Sood

Great hotel for stay Spacious rooms, 24/7 accessible gym, modern look, and very good staff service The location is also great with shops on the same street and the AMC Bay Street is a mere 5 minute walk from the hotel

The breakfast leaves some things to be desired, and isn’t as expansive as most other continental breakfast One major issue was that the eyehole on the room’s door was reversed and completely unsafe since anyone could see everything in the room from outside, but the guest services immediately sent someone to fix the issue

Comfortable bed The desk is a little narrow which is important for my work trips Friendly staff

No complaints with other amenities (towels, soaps, shower) I’d recommend this place Valet was reasonably fast With the exception of the coffee shop attached to the hotel, there are good dining options within walking distance Regarding coffee shop, black coffee was bitter and if I didn’t need the boost I would have poured it out I can also appreciate/understand that some places have to mark up food prices, but $4 for a grocery store cup of yogurt is excessive I should have stuck with the $6 breakfast burrito

This review is difficult to write because certain aspects of the hotel are great and others are notRoom – We stayed in the nicest sweet with the exception of the penthouse, we stayed in the Jack London Suite Great size room

great layout however there are quite a few issues with the room First off the bed is extremely uncomfortable to the point where we cut our stay short by one night because we could not get a good night’s rest Second issue the sofa bed our daughter was going to sleep on was zip tied shut (no exaggeration) During our stay there was also a shortage of pillows and blankets For the room we could only get four total pillows and three blankets when I called down During my travels this is the first time there has been a shortage on pillows and blankets Another issue I had during our stay our room was never cleaned or turned downStaff – The staff is great!Location – Location is great very close to the ferry that takes you across the bay to San FranOverall review as others have stated on here, you are better off staying at a different hotel which isn’t dated/worn down The amount we spent during our stay, we also paid for the last night we didn’t even stay in the hotel Despite me bringing the issues to management there was a lack of a empathy

Paige M

The locations and views are wonderful Staff is friendly I upgraded my room and that’s where the issues started

The first room’s heat did not work We were moved to another room It was just dirty, which I noticed the next day after our late night move I brought it to front desk attention, but the report there was really nothing they could do I have reached out to Hyatt It looks so nice online and lobby is adorable Just frustrating!Edit: manager reached out and was very helpful

I’m writing this review for my cousin He was treated very badly! I don’t think this is a word but that’s the point to what happen last night My cousin said he came in around check in to check in on the room

(Pablo) said that the room wasn’t ready So my cousin went and chilled in the parking lot Than went back inside and had Pablo ran his card but the moral of the story is he didn’t get a room Make sure you don’t deal with Pablo If you were having a bad day please don’t take it out others

After a long day of travel, we arrived at the hotel very late at night via the complimentary airport shuttle bus We were warmly greeted by the front desk clerk who asked us to make ourselves comfortable as she helped another family secure a room for the night Apparently, the family’s reservation at another hotel had fallen through, but she was able to help

She was kind and mindful of the late hour and serviced everyone as quickly and efficiently as possible In no time, we were all checked in, given room keys and on our way to enjoying our comfortable, spacious and clean rooms So glad we chose Comfort Inn & Suites

Chris M

Good hotel The front desk staff was hilarious The rooms were clean and very nice

The TV had soccer so I could watch the World Cup games One of the elevators needs a little maintenance It’s a bit old, but felt safe The area is a little sketchy and the hotel is hard to find from the street That is my only gripe with it Parking and WiFi was included which is great!

Choosing the Garland at our wedding was the talk of the town for our location Most of my friends live in California but were not aware of the place When they arrived they were wonderfully surprised by the elegance and level of detail

The service was amazing and everyone raved about the food The cake was provided by Delicious Bakery in the valley and they did an excellent job Our coordinator, Aleina, did an excellent job with the level of detail, her expert advice, and prompt communication We highly recommend the Garland as their level of execution was amazing in making our wedding an amazing experience

Anna Howard

The Housekeeping Staff is dishonest My son left his Airpods under his pillow We checked out and called back same day an the Front Desk said they did not have them and dismissed it

We told them that the Airpods are showing that they are still at the hotel location – find my device and he paused and said there is nothing we can do Asked for the GM to call me and was told he is out on paternity leave and only the front desk supervisor was there So a major change hotel lets the front desk oversee the hotel issues It is sad that you can’t forget something in a hotel room and trust that there would be honest employees that would turn in guests items I am so upset that this hotel and lack of professional staff and basically not caring that an item was taken and the guest is just screwed I will never stay in this dishonest hotel change again

Great location Beautiful setting Staff is SO nice that it’s almost impossible to say enough about how great they are!Only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of the fixtures and furnishings are looking a bit down at the heels and that’s not quite appropriate

Time for a bit of a refreshMy bathroom shower was giant and fancy but I couldn’t get the water quite hit enough no matter how much I fiddled with that Grohe temp setting

Juliana Schroeder

I had a truly horrific experience The room cost more than $800 and there was just one issue after another The worst was that there was a 3 hour wait to get a crib, which was set up so that it folded halfway through the night and almost killed my baby

I was calling customer service for hours and when they finally answered they said “oh sorry, we were busy” Busy at midnight? That’s a ridiculous lie, they just didn’t have any manning the desk Later on, the woman at the front desk had no idea about any of the events going on My husband left his phone at the pool and then they refused to let him get it back after the pool area closed He literally didn’t have a phone all night long until I went in and negotiated with them in the morning Then housekeeping came by at 7 am and knocked loudly on the door for like 5 minutes The wake up call we definitely didn’t need I can say without a doubt that this was one of the worst hotels I’ve been to in my life

Kerry Wilson

We really enjoyed our escape to the gorgeous Claremont The building has been beautifully updated with modern decor and features, yet it maintains historic elements and charm The hotel’s location on the edge of Berkeley allows for a quiet getaway, yet it’s a short, safe walk from the shops and restaurants of College Avenue

Highly recommend upgrading to a room with a view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge

Had an excellent four night stay here while on a business trip Changed room after one night because I needed a bathroom with a bathtub Check-in and check-out were both smooth

Staff was also friendly Both of the rooms I was in had good views and most things folks would need for this stay – even a microwave, which is rare I can easily recommend this place The location was also excellent to walk to any central Oakland spots

Allen Wickham

Another good Hampton Inn experience, this time in downtown Oakland I love this area, given its proximity to the BART, Oakland Chinatown, to the bay (check out Jack London Square!), and lots of great food Similar large and spacious areas as the Red Bluff hotel and good breakfast choices

In order to ensure you get your ADA room, make sure you call them, since our reservation via a online resource did not communicate the need for a wheelchair room Our initial interaction with the front-desk was not helpful, but the manager was able to switch our room for an excellent ADA room, with a good roll-in shower and a great toilet The only drawback was the shower seat was tilted down, which necessitated getting our backup shower chair

Victor Sanchez

We stayed here to come to see Smokey Robinson at the Paramount Theatre The hotel is all modernized and very clean The staff is very nice and friendly

I also like the fact that the Valet service takes your vehicle to a Private Locked parking lot The tv was bit hard to figure out since the settings did not state the channels and delayed on every change made But overall was great quality The only thing we did not like was the time it took for the water to warm up when you need a shower We will definitely return here next time we come to the Paramount Theatre as it is only down the street

Biggest plus for this hotel is being only 5 minutes from OAK It’s a reasonable Hampton Inn, if a bit older Nice lobby and bar area

Rooms were 4/5, only to be dinged for being probably 10+ years old w/o renovation Front desk check-in was efficient, professional, and pleasant Some decent restaurants are about a 5 minute drive away Nice bonus to be on the walking path along the water front – lots of bird and sea life to see At the end of an OAK runway, so there is some overhead noise – but not nearly as much as I expected And it didn’t impact sleep

V Maxeno

You get what you pay for, the room are pretty outdated and it smells oldYou are far from everything, and in the middle of an industrial areaThe bistro is not worth counting on for your dinner! The staff were nice, breakfast was very decent, and the rooms facing south/west have a very nice view, apart from planes taking off a few hundred feet away 😉

nam

The worst Hilton experience we’ve ever been through They canceled our reservation because our card declined? (which is a lie because we got a confirmation number and a receipt) It was a room for 2 nights and we reserved it for mid day but we arrived late at night Since it was a 2 night reservation it’s standard that as long as we’re paying we can come in whenever

This was not the case! There was a warriors game going on and they immediately gave our room away without notice or any email, text, calls, etc They did this so they could charge higher rates to someone else The reception was also rude and not accommodating, it was clear they were lying because their story kept switching up on why they canceled

Considering all the travel reviews we post, this may be the first time we have reviewed a property we have not actually completed our stay atMy wife and I checked into the Moxy for a two night stay earlier today The lobby and bar area looked very cool and had a fun vibe about it

We definitely looked forward to spending some time there during our stay Sarah and Libby assisted us at check-in at the end of the bar Both were very friendly and professionalShortly after arriving at our room we realized that the location of the hotel was not convenient to the location of the event we were attending Bad planning on our partUnderstanding that we were well outside the 24-hour cancellation policy, we returned to the front desk and asked if we had any options to cancel Both Sarah and Libby were very understanding and took care of our cancellation needs immediatelyThe high level and friendly service we received from Libby and Sarah is what continues to make the Marriott properties our only choice when traveling Thank you!

The staff was kind and courteous, great albeit a bit small rooms Feels very hip and modern Nice hotelWord to the wise tho, my bags were stolen from me while I was unloading my car at 430pm on a Saturday

Folks just drove up, took them while I was unloading and drove away Not the hotels fault, but just be hyper aware when uploading and loading your car

Brendan T. Westfall

This is the second Moxy my partner and I have stayed in, and it was just as pleasant as the first! There was plenty of street parking available around the hotel, and the welcome drinks were a nice touch The furniture and games in the lobby were appreciated, and the room and bathroom were well-decorated as well We would stay again if we make another trip to SF!

I absolutely love the service here! All the staff make it a point to make sure you’re treated with respect and are very friendly! They even greet you as much as possible to make you feel welcomed! From the shuttle drivers, front desk receptions, the bar, and the housekeeping everyone is so friendly and you really feel like they love having you in their establishment!I was staying at different hotel for 2 weeks before finding this place and am really sad I didn’t find this place sooner! The only reason why their rooms got 4 stars instead of 5 is because they have a wonderful walkin closet but 1 thing is missing to make this a complete 5 star establishment I recommend having full length mirrors somewhere in the room I think it would go great on the inside portion of the closet door!Thank you for all you do and can’t wait for my next visit!

Marriott seems to want to be cheap and not go back to the old styles of breakfast real food it’s real food I got a bag Breakfast but I didn’t get the bag The sandwiches are not good tasting sandwiches they’re just OK Maybe this works for kids but I don’t think so people like real food I’ve I’ve spent a lot of money and time in Marriott’s I was very disappointed In all 3 Marriott’s I stayed in this Week Douglas!!!

I stayed here many, many times from 2017-2018 (long story, but was living somewhere where I literally had to grab a backpack and anything I could carry, leave and go stay somewhere else whenever the fighting got physical or otherwise out of hand) The owners were so incredibly sweet to me and even brought me dinner one night when it was too late to get dinner anywhere and everything else was closed The room(s) are affordable and basic, some nicer or more updated than others (I think I stayed in each and every one of them at least once!)

It is in a safe area, and right near Kaiser and all the hospitals It’s for sure no nonsense no frills, but the owners made sure to put nice little touches like flowers, decorations, and even a BBQ grill, where they will be useful and appreciated This place was a welcoming and safe respite for me for so many stays I’ve since moved to another state, and I never got to tell the owners THANK YOU for their wonderful hospitality, so hopefully I can tell them with this review!

It was a quiet area, I was able to fit a full size, extended length SUV in a few spots so be sure to take a compact vehicle just in case The bed sheets were dirty and both beds had sheets with cigarette burns The water for the cold side of the sink was barely coming out, hot was fine

And the shower pulled water because it wasn’t draining right Maybe the other rooms are better Just glad Kaiser was next door

35 If you have to be in downtown Oakland, this is a good (not great) option

Service was incredible Every employee I encountered That’s the highlight A significant oneThe location is decent, good access to BART, convention center Couple of decent food options, within 2-3 blocks But, the neighborhood is a little rough Even having stayed in a lot of large city hotels, this area made me a bit uncomfortableCondition of the hotel is…old Not bad, but everything just seems a little worn out Furniture, elevator, gym, fixtures Reasonably clean, if you didn’t look TOO closeBut…the staff was great

good location but sketchy area Please beware of hotel staff I had a couple items left behind and when contacted staff/house keeping ( extremally difficult to do ) I was told only my electric toothbrush was found where my expensive electric shaver which was in the same bag was not ( ! ) I am platinum elite member staying over 3 months a year at Marriott hotels and I have yet to encounter fraudulent staff

I was told by head of house keeping that it is my fault for leaving items behindI guess you can stay here if you don’t leave anything behind? question is should you?I filed a police report and official complained the Marriott International and incident is under review
