A newer hotel in a great location to shopping stores and restaurants At first glance upon entrance, the hotel is aesthetically please for a great stayThe lobby was beautiful

The hallway was well lit and appealing The staff was definitely friendly with great customer serviceThe room cleanliness was puzzling The sleep room area was cleanOur sheets were clean and free of hair The carpet was vacuumed and no handprints on the highly touched area and amenitiesHowever, the bathroom needs a deep cleaning Our towels were cleaned and free of hair, but that was itThe shower and floor had hair on it and the baseboards, wall and caulking were disgusting

Down the road from Craig’s Cruisers, across from shopping and food everywhere Came with kids and utilized the pool/ hot tub The pool was busy around the clock on the weekend with mostly other kids

Customer service was friendly and accommodating with each encounter Breakfast was exciting because of the waffle maker, but make sure to get in early to avoid linesKid friendly and local to everything Would book again if ever in the area

Christopher Bucher

Loved the room, very clean unlike some reviews were sayingThe pool and hot tub needed a little work, taking a star off for that – water in the pool was murky, and it is 4′ at the deepest segment The hot tubs jets were weak and too wide to be effective

Breakfast was good and included eggs and sausage patties as well as waffles, cereal, etc

This Holiday Inn Express is similar to my other HIE experiences in regards to the facility, I was happy The area seems very safe, the building is nice, and the rooms are decent size The carpet in my room had a weird stain (spill) by the door, but nothing that altered my usage or overall opinion

The staff is what made my stay exceptional Everyone I encountered over 3 days was friendly and accommodating; front desk, room attendants and breakfast service Super nice staff!!I would highly recommend based on the staff alone if in Kalamazoo Michigan

I updated with my room card holder and dates Absolutely AVOID this hotel I’ll start off by saying I woke up to bed bugs

See picture Still reading? Here we go I felt as is I was in section 8 housing Lobby was nice and receptionist was nice, but once I stepped into the elevator I knew my stay was not going to be as nice The elevator looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in months Carpet is very dirty and stained, dirty finger prints throughout Rooms are dirty and run down Drains don’t drain Carpet stained, my door wiggled badly The ethernet port in my room did not work Numerous cracks in the walls and ceiling I had 1 shower towel, 2 hand towels and no wash rags for a 2 queen bed room After a night of crying babies and a barking puppy (no pets?) From across the hall, then I wake up to find a bed bug under my blankets, I WILL be changing hotel chains Now I have to go work the day in clothes I’m concerned may have beg bugs in Disgusting

Cari Go

I am not impressed at all I don’t require too much from a hotel but this one is not worth the money The service is not good, the hotel is worn down and dirty

The floor in our room has dirt, the tub was brown, the mattress cover on the pull out couch has some stains The pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable The pool was warm which is a positive There is not a hot tub The pool hours are nice though I suggest staying somewhere else

It’s a beautiful hotel with lots of amenities The stores, restaurants, and bars on site are really nice The decorations in the hotel are beautiful especially when lit up

They’re in the middle of renovations, but nothing that lessened my stay My biggest issue was with paying $20 extra for parking a night It’s just a pet peeve of mine, parking should always be included in a hotel stay Hotels located downtown, close to many other places, making it convenient The view from the hotel is also nice

Grace Fleming

It was a beautiful hotel, very clean, with wonderful staff and friendly service The valet was always quick and efficient, and we had zero issues Hair dryers, an ironing board and iron, a safe, and small fridge are all located in the room

There was no microwave, which was a bummer but by no means a big deal It was a nice bonus that their ice from the ice machine is the small crushed ice and was delicious Vending machines were definitely pricey, but thats to be expected

Lois Halsted

Wonderful accomodations

Staff professional and friendly Our conference meals were beyond great(loved all the brownies and cookies) Conference rooms were well stocked with water Our room was clean, well stocked with water, coffee, and toiletries(oops! I guess they don’t go together, my bad) Even with the construction going on at the Radisson I did not feel it detracted from our conference Thank you for taking such great care of us while we attended Great Lakes Rotary PETS March 10-13, 2022

Front desk staff as well as housekeeping staff are great, friendly and outgoing Room was clean, bathroom was clean Bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning kept it very comfortable for myself and my medical service dog

Bar drinks were rather pricey, next time I will bring my own Killian(?) and Heaven were great and very pleasant and made me feel very welcome both Thursday and Saturday night Friday night bar tenders were more interested in talking about relationship stuff rather than clearing tables or serving guests Spinach artichoke dip was not the greatest unless you like it pureed and bland Other than that one night, I had an amazing stay And I like how the building is secure at ALL times Front desk staff, Killian and Heaven I want to thank you for making my service dog and my stay very enjoyable

Scar Baby

The restaurant is in obvious disarray, new bartenders need more training Couldn’t make my husband a decent Manhattan, two of them up there googling it I understand not knowing everything but that’s a pretty staple drink

We’re locals and probably won’t be back For the price and environment we expect great cocktails We visited a few months ago and had the most amazing bartender I’ve personally had, mix up some spicy margaritas (never even heard of that!) that’s why we came back but she was not there!!

2 hotels at this location! The Home 2 suites is much nicer and way cleanerThe Garden inn has a nice lobby and common area but the housekeeping standards are way lower then the Home 2 at this same locationHair on the sheets, nose mucus on the shower curtain, food debris on the tables in the room

Stay at the Home 2 if you have to choose

Customer Service shines at this place Nancy, Laura, and the rest of the staff were helpful with our large party, incessant questions, remembered our family, and we’re so very approachable Housekeeping staff was super pleasant, breakfast (eggs and bacon, waffles, and tons of other things) was yummy

The hotel was booked and they worked hard to keep the food coming Easy off/on the highway Large and clean pool, nice hot tub, exercise room, and nice rooms Stayed here for an event in Kalamazoo We’ll be back!

I booked this hotel last minute because I ended up needing to travel for work It was the closest to my destination on Gun Lake and the price was right so I went for it I was so pleased with our experience

My husband and I arrived with our kids at 10pm and check in was simple and quick A credit card on file for incidentals and we were on our way to our room with a smile and friendly attitude from the front desk clerk Upon entering the room, you could tell it was freshly painted and wallpapered It was clean, the bathroom was nice, and the beds were comfortable We headed down to the breakfast in the morning and had delicious waffles, eggs, bacon, etc There was fresh coffee, cereal and yogurt for the kids, and juice Everything you could hope for in a continental breakfast and then some The women attending to the breakfast buffet were kind and prompt to refill items as needed There were alot of guests eating at the same time but everyone was courteous and patient in the small breakfast space We headed to the pool from breakfast and enjoyed having it to ourselves It was clean and a great size and the hot tub was great My husband even walked next door to grab massive donuts from the Donut Mill (highly recommend) When checking out, I took the keys to the front desk to drop off and was again sent on my way with a friendly smile from the clerk Overall, I don’t have a single complaint We had a great stay and would absolutely come back again if ever in the area

We had a great time staying at this historic landmark Henderson Castle felt like a museum that you could stay at Each room had a theme that looks like a display that you can enjoy

There is a lot of details worth checking out If you get there early enough, you can explore the history The employees were very helpful when we arrived and they were very understanding for any concerns that me or my friends had while staying there The hot tub on the roof was easy to use and exciting for the winter timeWe are considering coming back again either in the fall or some time next year Thank you for a memorable experience

Stephen Hulbert

I can not say enough wonderful things about my most recent stay at the Henderson Castle From the moment we had any contact with the staff, every moment was luxurious Julie greeted us warmly at the door and escorted us up to our wonderful room, the “Italian Suite

” The room was beautifully decorated with champagne, roses, rose peddles and chocolate covered strawberries Later that evening we sat in the spirits lounge under the direction of Shawna the most fantastic bar tender I have ever met She truly knows how to make the best chocolate Martini Not only can she make the best drinks but she is also quite the conversationalist engaging all the guests in conversation and truly getting to know them and make them feel right at home Jaquar, the hotel manager was also amazing in making sure our stay was wonderful I can not say enough wonderful things about my stay at this beautiful Historic Inn I hope to be back to visit there very soon This staff and castle Rocks!!!

haley hernandez

if you want a little getaway come to The Henderson castle! Stayed in the Dutch room such a beautiful room with a king size bed Hot tub on the roof time so cool and an amazing view of the city of Kalamazoo We did have to wait for the last spa to be over cause the staircase is in the same room

But when the last spa appointment is over then the door is open to go up to the hot tub Opened for a few hours for guests to use so thats fine because we still enjoyed it! It was not the workers fault We had a few drinks at the bar with an amazing ceiling so beautiful and unique So glad we got a little history at the front desk because she is the tour guide so she knew a lot about the castle! Cant wait to come here again! I hope my review helps you guys to stay here!!

Overall, it was okay There were some issues that I had The biggest one that bothered me the most, was the absence of housekeeping

They refused to do housekeeping on Saturdays because they were short staffed and used that time to turnover rooms of guests that had checked outThe sticking point was my 2 cats The days they said they could clean I was away at work for 12 hours No way was I going to crate them for that long When I gave them a list of the particular day every week I would be off, no one showed up I complained numerous times and never got it resolved The general manager himself was at the front desk on one of those times I just changed out towels at the front desk as neededI understand the whole short staff issue However, I was there for over 2 months, I think there should have been some consideration for that I always tip housekeeping when they clean my room and when I check out This is the first time in a long time where I didn’t I mean for what? They did nothing

Nick E

Our room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke We asked the front desk for another room, but nothing was available at that timeEventually a room became available, but we were not informed of this until we decided to check out at 11PM the same day we arrived

By this time we had already loaded the car to leaveThe front desk did not offer a discount for the hotel’s issue with poor cleanliness and poor communication They did not try to resolve the issue They told me that I’d have to contact their general manager to discuss the situation I sent an email to GM, he followed up with an email and a promise to call to discuss, but he never did All he offered was an apology Poor poor customer serviceI can’t remember a time I had to leave a hotel based on an issue This is a first for me and I travel often for my job

I wish I could say my experience was as pleasant as othersThe rooms are modern and fairly nice And the staff was great

However, the cleanliness was lackingMy room had a really dirty bathroom The toilet wasn’t cleaned before entering The floor was sticky, and hair was everywhere Specifically body hair and head hairInstead of calling the front desk, I just cleaned it up myself Upon doing so, one of the rags for around the toilet area turned up yellow, dusty, and was caked with body hair (Point being, I’m glad I was wearing shoes, and continued wearing shoes for my stay)When you moved into the room, the carpet was also dirtyTowards the headboard there’s a collection of dust at the bed frameThe linens could have been better as well Just old and yellow-ed from years of use However, they were to my knowledge… -clean-Those things aside The breakfast offered was adequate Nothing special, but it gets the job done The front desk person was helpful, and it wasn’t sketchy like other hotels I’ve experienced in the pastYou also have major chains around the road to choose from, when it comes to foodTruly, the only downside was just the cleanliness

Ellie Vilendrer

The good: The hotel is new and our room was big Some of the people who worked there were niceAreas that need improvement: We stayed for 6 nights and they did not clean our room even once, even though I asked multiple times

The most they did was bring 2 clean towels for a family of 4 (and that was after asking several times) and take out the garbage The room was very dustyThe pool is small and the water was coldI asked one night if they had detergent for the laundry and they said they did The next morning they said they were out Couldn’t someone have anticipated they would run out and buy more ahead of time? Couldn’t they tell me they were low when I called? The breakfast wasn’t very good and they cleaned up at 9 am precisely and we got the impression we were not welcome to stay in the dining hall past that time This was tough for us as we were on CA time

Tom Mackowiak

We were in town for grandchild’s graduation Our daughter booked rooms for 3 nights for us and 2 night for 2 others Breakfast was worst I’ve ever had in a hotel: milk was sour (clumped in my coffee) and someone had to go to store for more, thinnest ham and cheese omelette(?) ever seen and nothing was refreshed when food ran out (in about an hour

) We didn’t bother eating there after our first day My sister checked into new room and garbage was still in 1 basket, I found piece of glass under my sink, dirty behind toilet, beds never made up for any of us , towels weren’t picked up and had to go get clean ones, towels also were in horrible shape (thin, tattered) As we checked out there were several people complainingThis never has been the standard in a MarriottDaughter was so embarrassed for us because it’s a fairly new hotel

Our first good impression lasted throughout our stay here Breakfast was delicious, accompanied by fresh, ripe fruit Our attentive and conscientious host made our stay very delightful

One of the things I most enjoyed (we were here in July) was taking my coffee out to the porch after breakfast to listen to the birds, take in the well manicured grounds, and feel the gentle breeze

The best place ever to stay Sheila the owner, is very attentive to your needs She will make whatever you want for breakfast however, I would definitely leave that up to her because she makes the most fantastic breakfast ever! The rooms are comfortable and each has a theme
