Our little slice of heaven so nobody take this review to heart Most reservations are about a year in advance unless you only need a single night or two maybe here and there We’ll be coming back here for many years to come

It’s quiet, very serene, impeccable views, and having your own full kitchen is really nice also Working distance to many restaurants and Dana Point is only a brief 15 minute drive away in the morning for whale watching tours Go to Captain Dave’s website and check them out Really great people

A throwback motel which we can’t get enough of! This place has it all to celebrate our wedding anniveraries

year after yeareven our 50th! That’s how Socal cool it is Well maintainedoverlooking the San Clemente pier, beach, coastline and train stopplus a kitchen to prep our own breakfasts (we eat lunch and dinner at nearby restaurants) Of course, as constant readers we love the porches with chairs and a table for my rum and cokes and box of Goobers!! But don’t go to this place, I want to keep it for our own special hideaway

The place was clean and linens lovely but the facility needs upkeep Our bathroom’s tile floor was cracked from threshold to toilet, there are old rusted shower curtain rod holders on the wall as well as holes in the tiles surrounding the bathroom mirror There was no blackout curtain so the security lights in the hallway kept the room Bright all night

In the evening after 8pm an electronic squeal was heard for 30 minutes…the manager said it was the beer compressor from the restaurant downstairs We had to leave and take a walk in order to get away from the squealAlthough room description said kitchenette, there was no microwave, sink or counter space A coffee maker is on the dresser Desk staff and maid were gracious Room was spotless Parking on the street at 2000 per day via meter can be a problem For the price of 285 per night, we would not return

Don Callangher

Beautiful place and staff, Adriana, and Liz and the cleaning crew, always helpful and super nice Came for business, found it so pleasant that we later returned for pleasure, several days each visit Feels like a European hotel on the coast and would recommend to other Europeans as well

The only minus: There is a train stop in front US train whistles and horns are way louder than in Europe and Asia The city of San Clemente should muffle the pre-recorded bell-ringing horn-blasting after 10PM, so that hotel guests may sleep peacefully

Brax Rose

Loved this place! Really cute room, bed, pillows, sheets, super comfy, had a great balcony on each floor overlooking beach and pier that we enjoyed our cocktails on each evening to watch the sunset Easy walking acess to everything We love to stay at unique older places so this was perfect

Only complaint was all the stairs for us 2 seniors Also price was great for a place right on the beach

Great location, great viewsI enjoyed this hotel I see some reviews of negative experiences with temperature in the room, hot water, etc

We did not have any of those issues We were able to set our room temperature, we had plenty of hot water, and if we asked the front desk for more water, they gave it to us We also got a massage at the spa and enjoyed their facilitiesWalking distance to the harbor, the beach, and many restaurant options Or you can get a beach bike from the hotel Several grassy park areas, nice clean beach I really enjoyed our stay

It is one of the rare hotels in Southern California where you can stay for a family vacation It is a beautiful hotel with its proximity to the family action, calmness and comfort inside It is a good alternative for guests coming from out of state, especially with its walking distance to the marina and 20-30 minutes close to many surf beaches spots

When you stay between the cities of San Diego and Los Angeles, it is nice that you can go to both cities at similar times My advice is to have breakfast by enjoying the beautiful weather in the green area in front of you in the morning, there is the legendary open buffet breakfast Especially the scrambled eggs and fresh coffee

JS

Overall, a great hotel in the Dana Point area Very easy to walk to everything you may need Our kids love the pool(s) and the amenities really cater to everyone

We ordered food and drinks by the pool a few days in a row and the prices were extremly reasonable for what you get and the servers were great Even though I have kids myself, I really appreciate that they enforce quiet hours before 9am at the pool because sometimes people are just not considerate for other guests who want to relax or sleep in and allow their kids to scream at the pool super earlyThe staff gives notification of any events/weddings that may be happening during your stay which is also a plusEverything is clean and well maintained The only complaint I could possibly come up with is the required valet kinda sucks We forgot something in the car and the hassle of going down and waiting in line (after paying $46 per day) just to get something out of car is super inconvenient You also feel super rushed when you are loading/unloading luggage when departing/arriving because valet wants to push you in and out

Our time there was very nice, but the room is dated and some of the furniture could use some repair/scratch treatment They could also update the chairs in the room to something a little more comfortable Otherwise, the breakfast was basically continental/American and had some decent choices

The hotel is also conveniently located to shopping and many good restaurants and fast food places I would recommend them to anyone who wants a decent place to stay for a reasonable price

Sue H

My cousin and his wife stayed here to be close to my Mom in Laguna Woods They were given a discount on the room, and breakfast was included They reported it was very nice

There was a fridge in the room and she loved the heat lamp and plush towels in the bathroom! It was very clean and they loved the beautiful grounds They would definitely stay here again

Tommy Savage

Great clean rooms with a so-so continent breakfast, but it is free, so how can I complain The brightest point of the hotel besides it’s cleanliness, great sized rooms and fair prices is the staff that works there They are the most helpful individuals I have ever met

They were always concerned about my needs and did everything they could to take care of everything for me It didn’t matter if it was the morning shift or evening shift they were all fantastic! Thank you ladies and gentlemen for being true professionals!

My car was towed!!! It cost me $56500 to get my car out of the impound lot That was not my big frustration

My first frustration originated out of NO ONE being able to tell me why I was not contacted I registered late in one of the 7 ADA rooms I did not leave the hotel (Seven quick phone calls, asking the night crew)My second frustration originated from not finding anyone to drive me to the impound lot Not one taxi responded My husband asked a friend of his to take me the next dayMy third frustration originated from having no car and no food Did I mention I was diabetic? I mentioned this to the hotel Assistant Manager I was not even offered a protein bar—-nothing Did I mention the restaurant and bar were closed? Not only was I frustrated, I now had a headacheWould I stay here again? NOSonesta wants their guests to feel good staying at one of their properties Do I feel good? NOSonesta wants their team members to “communicate honestly” Did anyone communicate with meNO!!!Sonesta wants to be “synonymous with unrivaled hospitality” Huh????? What did you say??? Did I experience thisThis gets a HELL NO

We loved staying at Nomads over the weekend We had the Boat Room, which was perfect for just my husband and I The themed rooms are so fun, bright, and colorful

The little added touches in the rooms were unexpected and appreciated The ease of check in and information sent to us regularly was super helpful And to be able to go to the restaurant upstairs was such a treat after a day at the beach Oh, and the bed was terrific too!Thank you for a great stay! Thanks

Ceci LaPeti

We loved staying at Nomads Location is perfect, staff is friendly, room was comfyTheir checking process was great

The Nomads canteen has great foodI would suggest adding a night lamp to the bed sides, so you don’t need to turn all the lights on in the middle of the nightThe only reasons I downgraded my review was because of the noise and because there was no internal latch mechanism to lock the doorThe noise is not terrible, but you can definitely hear the restaurant above the rooms They do a great job providing soft noise makers and ear plugs to combat itWe will definitely come back

Monique Vancini

I love this hotel, it is themed and super clean quiet and cozy I only live 1 1/2 hours away and I still come stay here My children love it and me and my husband also come stay here alone too! Perfect for family and singles

Beautiful hotel room The couch is the only downside it’s not great But the view from the patio is stunning

The bed was firm, pillows comfortable, front desk guy was super nice getting us checked in very late Breakfast had some tasty pastries, juice, milk, coffee, yogurt, cereal and boiled eggs Fridge and microwave in the room is a nice addition Very happy with our stay here

Femme Fatale

If I could give a negative rating i would For starters, they didn’t give me the room I booked Second this place is not clean at all

the toilet was dirty and the bathroom smelled Oh and don’t get tricked with the beachfront more like street front There is nothing close to the beach about this place The personal did not comeOff as friendly or helpful at all Breakfast sucks Basically spend your money elsewhere

Marycruz Serrano

We booked a beachfront suite for our anniversary An hour in the suite my fiance comes out of the bathroom soaking because water was pouring out of the ceiling They moved us to another “suite” before we saw it they told us it was going to be better and bigger

It wasn’t it was partial view and smaller Which is fine but they still wanted to charge us the same I looked on their website it was at least a $30 difference per nightThe next day I’m in my room and a man came in my room through the balcony, please note this happened on the 3rd floor Its been a hassle trying to get this fixed We stayed 4/13-4/15 They really didn’t seem to care or take anything into consideration

Honestly, I would like to give this hotel a higher rating But the room was old, not well cleaned and the mattresses were uncomfortable, the springs around the perimeter of the mattresses were nearly at the surface and hurt our legs when sitting on the side of the bed or getting on or off the bedThe filters in the air conditioner had not been cleaned in months and were caked with yuck 🤮

The carpets left our socks dirty The 1980s jacuzzi had been poorly re-coated and was super slippery and the jacuzzi jets were dirtyThe breakfast was pretty good, but it was a free for all down there in the morning Over crowded, not enough seating, people coming right up to us and reaching across our bodies, unmasked A covid nightmareThe staff, however, were super nice and so helpful I actually became ill while on the trip, having to cut my stay short by a day ( I informed them over 48 hours in advance of the cancelled day), they made the adjustment for meLocation, though on the Pacific Coast Highway, does not have an ocean view from the room The balconies are off limits and a fine is issued if one were to go out on itThe high points are the town around it has tons of fun Good restaurants, several antique, thrift and consignment stores A quaint and historic old town area, and just a few minutes drive to the beach

Made a reservation for mid April Haven’t stayed here yet, but in dealing with the staff by phone, I am very impressed Very nice and helpful staff

My granddaughter’s school is holding their senior prom in Dana Point and 6 of my granddaughter’s friends/classmates are staying at this hotel I have had to change my reservation twice, due to other students needing accommodations, and, as old as I am, I had trouble navigating the website, so I have had to call the hotel Your staff is so helpful and patient with me! If you’ve ever had to deal with rude hotel staff, you know what I’m talking about This place is awesome! I look forward to staying here with a bunch of crazy teenagers!!!

Loved that we had our own kitchen for nights we did not want to go out We brought our bikes which were safely kept in the courtyard right outside our door I would highly recommend this adorable getaway for anyone It is close to town and the beaches Aneta & her husband were so kind and accommodating 5 stars for sure and we will be returning when we can getaway

Wow Just wow

From the moment we accidentally startled Bill in reception, we knew we were in for a good stay Him and his wife Sandra are possibly the most hospitable people on the planet They’ve opened up their stunning period home to lucky guests like us and treat them like royalty Quaint, well appointed and incredibly spacious room with a high bed fit for a King and Queen The garden surrounding the property is sprawling and buzzing with life and my fiance adored spending time amongst the flora The breakfast; hand delivered each morning at 8am to a distinctive knock from Bill is generous, delicious and prepared with love by Sandra, you can tell We will recommend to anyone going to California to stay here and we really hope to be back again Amazing

The rooms are very nice – we got one that had a beautiful ocean view on the third floor Only problem with the ocean view is that you get the traffic noise and if you’re sensitive to noise, don’t get an ocean view room They are very clean and nicely decorated and the owners are extremely nice and helpful

I would stay there again in a heart beat!!

Nori Y

Room was very clean and in great condition, staff was greatI was on the back side and did not notice any freeway noise Parking was mostly in a small parking garage with a low ceiling with a few more spots in the back, if you have a large vehicle I would check ahead first

The staff was great making sure I was able to park were I would be comfortable

Destiny Flores

The staff was absolutely horrible to my elderly mother We will not go back And during the evening they gave her room away and a perfect stranger (thankfully not a crazy) walked in her room

Almost giving her another heart attack then the front desk called her room rudely asking what she was doing in there It wasnt handled professionally at all Thankfully they “found her reservation and my mother could stay” This is not a big hotel UnacceptableAnd the beds were not great and extremely cheap patio chairs

Although we are already loyal Hampton Inn inhibitors, this particular outlet surpassed all our expectations The parking was convenient, the breakfast was fresh and diverse, the rooms and amenities were top-notch, rivaling even some of the elite perks of an Embassy Suites or a Hyatt Regency Most appreciated was the welcome extended by the desk clerk

I’m sorry I missed his name, but he went above and beyond to make us truly feel like a guest—a lost art in the hotel business Thank you for value and excellence I will stay there any chance I get to visit San Clemente in the future

To start, the price was perfect for our little getaway, our room faced the Ocean The staff was so kind, we were able to check in early, we got a 2 queen bedroom The living room was perfect for our 7 year old daughter to have her own space and watch her shows and play away from the bedroom area

We were provided with a play pin for our 6 month old (she played in that and slept in the bed due to the pin not having a mattress, but still perfect!) Waffles and coffee in the morning after a workout hit the spot! We didn’t do much around the area, it was just a relaxing vacation We are definitely coming back See you guys soon!

I warned you This place is rough It’s a small, old, disjointed hotel that is NOT worth it

Spent 2 nights here and our stay and sleep were awfulEverything is broke Our AC broke at 2am Our locks on our doors never worked The elevator broke The walls in our room were disgusting, see pictures The shower head was broken The beds were both broken and make noise The couch was broken Oh but 2 brand new TVs so that’s niceThe whole place has a funky smell, the breakfast was gross and kept running out of food The parking is a jokeThey said they “might” renovate in 2 years…so don’t say I didn’t warn youDo yourself a favor and stay by the pier Same price, less homeless people around and you’ll have a better stay Shame on you Hilton, this place is a joke

Spacious and comfortable beach themed designed rooms just minutes from the beach and the center of town They offer indoor parking (mostly), surf boards and are located directly across from a great brunch spot and popular donut / coffee restaurant The upper floors have a seating area that provides ocean views

You are close to the freeway but I think the price reflects that making this a great option for San Clemente

Going with a friend to explore San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente, so searched the internetIt was only rated 25 stars

I had read reviews and there were so many good ones So I made reservationsGrateful parking Then went into the room remodeled and very cleanLocationdistant view of the ocean, but location provided easy access for you didn’t worry about losing your parking spaceWe would go back again

Surfbreak is newly renovated and looks cute + is an easy drive down to the downtown San Clemente area You have to look over the freeway to see the ocean, but it’s not a far trip to the pierOur room floors were uneven, the shower handle came off multiple times, and the water pressure in the sink is awful

There’s no breakfast available + there was no drinking water provided Whoever designed the rooms also thought it was a good idea to have a sliding barn door for the bathroom that leaves a footlong gap instead of one that seals smells and sounds in The parking is tight and there’s not a lot of it It’s right off the freeway so pretty loud (but the AC will drown out the traffic noise) For the price you’d think you were paying for a boutique hotel, but it’s really bare bones as far as amenitiesBasically if you’re expecting a motel, head to Surfbreak If you want to lounge at the hotel you book and sit around there, I’d look for someplace else

Since covid the upgrades have been amazing I have always been comfortable here I wanted to get in the spa real bad and wish they would open the spa hours longer, but when I arrived to the spa there were 8 guest in it and I had 15 min

I stay here at least 20 times a year And the thing I look for is jumping in the spa So when this happens it absolutely sucks The could certainly do better with making sure the water pressure and shower fixers work well Maybe some new fixers that create better pressure But other then that with prices now your not finding much better with all that is offered Keep it up Love this place

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at due to their hotel manager Lisa I contracted with San Clemente Inn for my big wedding weekend I say this with absolute assurance that every single person who booked a room through our room block had an issue

Some guests were told our room block didn’t exist (so I would call and resolve the issue on others behalf), some were told it was sold out and they needed to get a room elsewhere, some never even received a emailed confirmation following up their reservations, and some were told they didn’t have a reservation upon arrival When my guests were told it was sold out, I was then given a call to let me know that I needed to sell more rooms or they would be taking my deposit I quickly informed them of my guests that were told it was sold out (3 different occasions), to which the manager Lisa gave me such attitude and spoke over me with such a condescending tone asking for the time and date to which my guest was told this so she could listen to the phone recording I don’t keep records of my guests phone log, so I couldn’t provide that information When I followed up to resolve the issue I was informed by an employee that phone calls are NOT recorded, so I am not too sure why Lisa said this I had guests who arrived who were told they didn’t have a reservation even though they had a credit card charge Every interaction with management was met with such grief and aggression The staff at the front desk were lovely, but I must say this is a hotel ran by a manager without customer service skills We are in a time when staffing is short and so I try my hardest to be patient and kind, but the troubles we faced were met with a lack of customer care and I think the owners of this hotel should know I will not be staying here and neither will any of my 35 guests due to the difficulties they caused throughout the entire experience San Clemente Inn needs to figure out their hotel management and get a hold because this was no way to treat any customer

At first glance everything looked good, but the hotel is VERY – VERY noisy Our room was at the ground level Their floor is made of tile and you can hear every step, loud screechy sounds when upstair neighbors moved their chairs and it can be as late as 2 am or as early as 6am

Also room service didn’t do their work as often as we would like to Our room wasn’t clean for 3 days and we had a lot of trash and used towels on the floor The queen bed is comfortable, the other 2 twin beds are notOn the bright side the pool is very good It has a salt water instead of chemicals The room has a full size fridge, microwave, small stove top, even a small dishwasherMy overall stay was bitter sweet
