Hotel accommodations were wonderful However the family above us kept letting their children jump off the bed onto the floor and had TV up so loud we could hear it Called front desk 3 times and even though “security” was sent up the disturbance continued

When asked to be moved to another room we were told that was not an option Hotel staff could clearly have cared less, but the room itself was nice I would know, I was up literally all night and got to look at it in great detail

Well appointed suites great for short term stays Conveniently located in Ritchie Station so it’s surrounded by grocery stores, restaurants, and retailSufficient on site parking with roaming security

Housekeeping is only available every 4th night I extended my stay by one additional night for a total of 5 nights but was told I couldn’t get housekeeping because my original stay wasn’t 4 nights Very Disappointed in how that was handled, but overall the staff I encountered at check in and throughout the stay was kind and professional

Mic Warren

Some of the people were great but some just don’t seem to care, we told them many times while we were there that our room smelled of smoke and one of the nice people brought us an air freshener It helped a little bit but we found that the smell came back over and over again, we found that the smell was embedded in all the fabric of the room and the vents were filled with tar (dripped out when wet), they didn’t do anything or switch our room so we moved to a different hotel completely

Clean, quiet and convenient location Spacious rooms with mini fridge and microwave Extended continental breakfast hours on weekends

Early check-in option with 11a check out Sofa and desk located in rooms There were cracks in the ceiling in bathroom but nothing more problematic in room There are Dove products for body and hair which was extremely delightful! Housekeeping has a presence and politely knocked on the door as a reminder that check out was in 10 minutes The breakfast was a bit interesting, surprised no potatoes There is a pancake makersorry no waffles! Cinnamon rolls were dry Eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits were hot food items There is also a pool area! Plenty of uncovered parking out front This hotel is very clean all over I highly recommend if you are in the area for business or personal travel

I would love to give this hotel an excellent review because it appeared as if the customer service was superb and the rooms were clean and smelled good I had to put a $50 deposit when I was using my debit card This was fine even though I spoke to them on the phone and they didn’t tell me anything about a deposit when using a credit card or when using cash

I was supposed to use cash to pay for the room but there was $150 deposit when using cash This is not noted on a sign anywhere and was not told to me when I made the reservation and specifically ask what is the total cost to reserve the room I paid for two days but I actually checked out early on the second day before The cleaning staff even got to my room I did not expect to get a refund for that day But I had a feeling that because the room was paid for for the entire day and the cleaning staff hadn’t even made it to my room that they were going to either use my room for their own personal use or try to sell the room to someone else I had no issue with that but my suspicions was something funny was going to happen This was May 1 that I checked out and now it is May 12 and I still have not received my $50 deposit They are holding my money hostage I have called them and they claim that they have sent it back and I have also called my bank and they say that Holiday Inn express is holding my $50 deposit still I would never use my card at this hotel again let alone even do business with them I left the room spotless and I know I did not make any damages so there was no need for them to hold my $50 deposit A matter of fact they assured me that everything was fine and they had released my $50 deposit I am highly upset because I needed that money because it wasn’t in my budget to give that to them in the first place There is some shady stuff going on there and I do feel like it was racially motivated

Stayed here 3 nights for business It is decent hotel overall besides the really hard and uncomfortable bed, but the horrible service ruined it for me I called multiple weeks ahead and asked for late checkout for my final day since I had work to do, which they agreed and told me the latest was 3pm

Great So I planned to work and leave by 3pm The night before checkout, I even called the front desk to confirm I had late checkout They told me yes, they see it on my reservation, no problem However at 11:15 the morning of checkout, I get a call in my room by Evelyn at the front desk saying I need to check out I told her I had arranged late checkout and she told me, no you did not, we don’t do that, you need to leave because we have a large party coming and we need to clean your room I told her, it was arranged ahead of time for my reservation and I even confirmed last night She replied, oh that person is new they don’t know what they’re doing Wow I told her, well I’m in the middle of work I can’t stop and I need until 3pm as I had planned to After going back and forth she agreed to 2pm, even though I needed 3pm as planned I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was none Only when I asked her name did she say okay, you can stay until 3 This after arguing with me and being extremely rude and unprofessional In all my years of staying at hotels, I’ve never ever experienced being treated like that This same person, Evelyn, was even rude at check in She wasn’t even at the front desk when I arrived and the door was locked so I couldn’t even get in the hotel I waited for a while before she finally let me in Once I did and got my room key, I asked for a cart to haul up all my stuff since I had a lot and was told they’re all occupied No concern whatsoever as I struggled to get all my stuff up People like Evelyn should not work in hospitality Oh and the kicker is when I checked out before 3pm, this large party they were kicking me out for was not even there So all that arguing and rude service… for nothing I was planning to come stay at this hotel regularly and now I’ll take my business elsewhere

I called the front desk early, themorning after my stay, to extend myroom for one more night and the front desk confirmed When I returned to my room that evening and used my key to enter my room, all my belongings were gone Front desk said they had given my room to another guest

The manager would not respond byphone or text to the front desk person in charge at that time After competing in a sporting event any being too tired to drive home, I was lefttrying to find another hotel for the night

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in When I checked in the room was not ready and it took 2 additional hours to get into the room while awaiting it to be cleaned 3 hours after my check in When we finally got into the room there were no wash clothes and was told there were none available

There was dried pee on the toilet seat The staff were rude and unprofessional The mattress cover was being used as the comforter I’m assuming because they didn’t have those either There were no options for people who do not eat pork for breakfast They ran out of syrup for the waffles 2 hours before breakfast was finished

The Hampton Inn Laurel is a basic hotel The best things about it were: the location, the excellent staff, and the complimentary hot breakfast All the staff members were there to make your stay the best, and each took pride in the property they work at

The rooms are badly in need of renovation Our first room had a soft and old bed, but when we were moved to another room upon request, the bed was better In both rooms the bathroom sinks did not drain, although the showers were strong and decent The tiled floors need re-grouting The colors are dark and dingy, and the carpet had some stains The views were terrible, and the windows did not open for any air However, the A/C was sufficient There is no fan in the bathroom, which is a problem with steam when one showered I think that is a code violation We did ask for housekeeping during our 3 day stay and they did a good job The breakfast was very good and the coffee was delicious The lobby was nicely appointed and comfortable The pool looks nice, however it was not open when we were there I think that the staff goes above and beyond for their guests, but the sad appearance and condition of the rooms will lead me in a different direction when I book a stay in the greater Laurel area in the future

walter brzyski

Just OK, seems dated, had to pry my Gold Member bottle of water and snack from the front desk member She stated I only get water, but the sign shows Gold or Diamond is eligible, she then obliged Weird exchange

Walls are super thin, as you can hear the cell phone ring in the next room, the whole conversation, them using the bathroom(number 1) and then washing their hands Like having a roommate, but not seeing them, only hearing them I will check other properties outside of this area moving forward

We stayed here for two weeks while our home was being remodeled The location was perfect for us We booked two rooms as my husband and I both work remotely and had our double monitors set up in each room

The desk/chair was comfortable for working 10+ hrs/day The internet was fast and reliableThere is no kitchen but there are plenty of eating options just steps from the hotel There is a microwave and a small fridge The free coffee in the lobby was pretty good too!Our kids enjoyed the indoor pool as a treat and we made use of the fitness centerThe breakfast is cooked to order and served I would have rather full self service because it took a long time in the mornings, but it was good The food was fresh, especially the fruitsEveryone was friendly and the accommodations were comfortable overall It is not easy to live/work out of a hotel with small kids, we made the best of it and this turned out to be a great option

Shujie Dong

The hotel looks great from outside, bedroom clean and big Unfortunately, The bathroom smell of Urine When speaking to the staff who insisted that all rooms cleaned very well and she didn’t smell it and she stated she had a good nose

The front desk staff is professional but I cannot feel her warmthOther than that the hotel cafe’ staff is very friendly, look forward to switching to a different room this afternoon

VagabondMike

This hotel looks clean and modern, but that’s where the comfort ends Every expense was spared in the comfort of this hotelI’m sure they could have found a firmer substance for the bed

Maybe concrete, but even that may have been an improvement, at least springs wouldn’t have been stabbing at me all nightThe pillows are feather, but broken down horribly I would like to think it’s from washing them so often, but they weigh a ton for a feather pillow, which means they’re probably full of dust mites from years of useIt was clean, but I probably would have gotten a better nights sleep in the truck Spend your money somewhere else

Mixed feelings… Making the reservation and getting an accurate rate – then confirming the rate – through IHG was a NIGHTMARE I spent over two hours total on the phone and talked with five different people to get things straightMy group of 16 selected this hotel because it had parking, breakfast, and a pool

Unfortunately the pool was closed (IHG did not mention this when I confirmed with them that the hotel did in fact have a pool) and two of our non-smoking rooms smelled like cigarette smokeThe breakfast was okay Nothing special, but okayThe positive side of things is that the staff was FANTASTIC The manager apologized for the problems, did not try to cover anything up or make any excuses, and did his best to make things right! He was gracious in ensuring that we received the correct rate and compensation for the smokey rooms He also explained that the hotel is under new ownership and new management who are actively working to improve the facility We even saw an interior design team present when we checked in

Was greeted at desk by a gentleman in a plain white t shirt and jeans, not professional, and some guests making a complaintFound the pool and hot tub was closed by a handwritten note at front desk We specifically booked this hotel for those amenities

Our room on the first floor was in no way a soundproof room, highway traffic and other guests noise, caused a sleepless nightHowever the room was clean and the breakfast selections were nice

This is a hotel that lives up to the Marriott good name It wasn’t brand new but it was very clean The breakfast was acceptable, and it’s nice to see hotels serving breakfasts again after a long hiatus due to the pandemic

The front desk was friendly The fitness room was clean and had some very nice drinking water Overall I would recommend this hotel

Casie Sulzle [Carlson]

There were always staff cleaning, and it felt like the whole hotel was clean Our floor even got shampooed during our stay, it was comforting that they cleaned oftenThe rooms were definitely outdated

The carpet under our chair was ripped up, the walls needed new paint, and our tub drained very slowly But, it seemed very clean and the bed was comfy!Breakfast was great! Shout-out to the chef because she came and greeted guests and kept everything stockedPool was a huge plus, as were the kind staff who recognized us in the lobby

Naomi Reinbold

I don’t feel like the pictures represented the hotel to date For the price it isn’t horrible but the best part of the room was the bathroom Our air-conditioner sounded like it was going to break off the wall, our TV was broken, when we let them know about it they sent new batteries for the remote, they never even came to the room to check it out

The pool was empty and being fixed We weren’t going swimming anyways but for people who have kids this may have ended badly I was just disappointed in the overall experience Hotels cost money and to have it be an experience where I was ready to leave at 1:30 am and continue my drive home it warranted a detailed review I will definitely not stay here again

We had a 2 bedroom suite (King + 2 Queens) It was convenient to DC The service (of the front desk staff and those in breakfast/evening social) was quality

Pros: plenty of room for my 5 kids, full fridge & counter in room, some basic cooking things, shower for parents & tub shower for kids, doors to bedrooms, clean upon arrival, front desk staff was nice, mini waffles at breakfastCons: furniture & things had wear (rip in couch arm, non-functional can opener), tiny cooktop, didn’t know we had to request housekeeping to get fresh towels and empty trashService only down a star because they didn’t tell us housekeeping required a request (This is a new, common thing, but we haven’t traveled much since covid and didn’t know)

We always stay at a Holiday Inn Express when we travel but this was not the same experience Outside looks like their typical/renovated hotel however, rooms are very dated and small I wouldn’t recommend this location if you enjoy other Holiday Inn Express locations, you will be disappointed

Pros:-Not far from tourist attractions-No daily parking fee (others in the area charge)-Parking lot/facility was gated and well lit-Morning front desk staff were pleasant and helpfulCons:-Typical breakfast was missing ‘normal’ options daily (We were there for 6 days/5 nights) Also, breakfast staff was overheard talking about guests to other guests (not positively)-No hot water one morning but was corrected in the afternoon Also, shower made a very loud sound while water was running-Rooms are very outdated and small comparatively-Possibly not the greatest area but I’m not from around there I only say that because the front door is a key card swipe to open 24/7 and there is a security guard overnight

Johnny M.

This location is situated perfectly for enjoying the area It’s a safe and clean place to stay The Ritz Carlton it is not

There was a disconnect somewhere on there part concerning my reservation but fortunately it was resolved later that evening It has its own parking lot but if you happen to go when the hotel is at capacity, finding a spot might be a chore Parking spaces are tight It’s very dated and some of the furniture and drapes in my room looked tired It definitely needs some attention to detail Breakfast was OK and served its purpose Walmart is just down the street I would stay here again but it would not be my first choice

Renée

Pros and cons—Cons: To Google maps and IHG Google stated this was 8 minutes from my destination NOT!And from the employee standpoint

ahem IHG please get them renovated!!Pros: Staff, hkpg and the girl at the front desk who greeted me were wonderful! (give them a raise!)Clean but dated rooms Breakfast was yummy, just like the one at my hotel!👋😄

It wasn’t bad for last minute checkin/room was nice and so was the front desk however,- There was a heavily** pungent smell of urine on one half of the room (carpet/pillows?)- AC didn’t work at all-The bathtub didn’t drain for a while

– Walls were also a bit thin- No pet policy, but you are allowed support animals as long as you have paperwork

The staff is really, really nice!! Easy to get to by public transit— you can call their shuttle to get you from the metro, but it only runs on weekends right now bc of the pandemic It’s about a mile walk in an easy flat area if you don’t have too much luggage or it’s a nice day Beds are super comfy and the showers are great

The toiletries provided are lightly scented and smell great! The rooms are kind of dark at night which I don’t really like, but they are otherwise great Nice and clean The light switches are all electronic buttons which might take you a few minutes to work out but once you get the hang of it it’s kinda nifty The pool and gym are solid and the conference amenities are very attractive as well I haven’t been to the spa myself but a friend got her nails done there and had a great experience The bar is wonderful, though the beer selection is pretty smallThey make a great bloody mary!

I loved my stay here! Beautiful hotel with an amazing view Conveniently located just steps from the University of Maryland The staff was nice, the room was immaculate, and the bed was so comfortable

If you are planning a trip to DC this is a great option just outside the district but is located near the metro line I really enjoyed my stay here and hope to visit again

I have stayed at the University of Maryland Hotel several times over the past few yearsThe rates are good and the service is excellent The staff is very friendly

I wish that some of the rooms had bath tubs instead of just showers but that’s a minor issueThe two restaurants right next to the premises, a pizza place and a bagel place, are excellent and reasonably pricedObviously this location makes sense if you’re doing something at the University of Maryland However, it’s a very clean and professional outfit for anyone staying in the DC area in general

This place is tucked away in a great location The staff were very friendly and accommodating I can’t express how much nice of a place this hotel is

BUT, we either had bad luck or they were that badWe were given our room and we drive to our area and it was poorly lit We get to our room and it’s very hot The AC unit was broken and obviously needed maintenance as the cover wasn’t on I called down and we were quickly updated to a nicer room While we were happy about the accommodation, there was really no benefit to us because we just needed a nice room and bed So getting a kitchen was a nice upgrade, however, we didn’t expect the refrigerator to make a loud screeching sound like a mouse was dying every TWO HOURS On the day of checkout, I showed the video to the people at the desk to which they were going to have someone remove the fridge They gave us a free night but it should’ve been freeFlute, maybe I’d try them again but if it’s another bad experience, I’d definitely go next door to the HiltonAnd I still have the video

I was hopeful for this location, but the rooms are old and need maintenance When I got to my room, it was 94 degrees inside with the a/c blasting hot air Went back to the reception desk, they in turn sent maintenance with a receptionist and returned to say the problem has been fixed

I go to room, still 94 degrees in there and the air blowing out of the vents is cool It took hours to cool off like 8 of them No other rooms available either Then it’s either a sauna or an ice box as the thermostat doesn’t regulate the temp, it’s either on or off Then the broken dressers (handles, rails, stains) TV with satellite seriously, who watches satellite or cable anymore? The furniture was so old and worn in you feel every boars and nail there is The bed was worn out to with a valley in it you just can’t avoid never again at this location To be fair, the staff is good and nice, but can only do so much

Not just great customer service but Exceptional Customer Service!!!! Wendy Williams was absolutely amazing like a breath of fresh air after our flight from Atlanta The room was very clean and tidy I was nauseated and Wendy went out of her way to leave me some ginger ale on my door

I wasn’t aware of the extra fee on my card but a simple visit to the front desk cleared that up Great customer service will clear up any negative reviews as we all know people write more negative reviews than positive I don’t go out of my way to write reviews however Wendy’s service speaks volumes! Thank you for exceptional customer service!

Great place and reasonable price Decided to use our points, if you stay for 4 days, the fifth day is free We had a studio with a queen bed

Good room size with a comfortable lounge chair, table for reading, computers or office works if you are virtually working/ studying It has a kitchen and nice size bathroom and closets Room clean, well maintained and organized Another great thing is they offer free breakfast The foods are packed in its original container so you can be assured it’s safe

Every staff member I encountered during my stay was pleasant & professional I stayed for a month due to being flooded out of my home There is a Security Guard on the premises overnight

There was moderate noise at times from families with children staying on the 1st floorThe continental breakfast reflects the impact of the pandemic with “pre-packaged to-go” items & belgian waffles are added on the weekend Be prepared to take breakfast back to your room due to very limited seatingThe waffles & spinach & cheese omelettes were delicious!!The only issue I noticed was this location promotes deep sanitizing but it wasn’t evident in the room(s) I stayed in So glad that I brought my own cleaning products It wasn’t horrible so I didn’t bring it to management’s attention & just chose to sanitize things myselfOverall, my needs were minimal & the few requests that I made were quickly fulfilled I was just glad to have safe shelter from being displaced I would be a return customer if needed Forgot to take photos

Place a bit weird 4th floor is probably under construction because the hallway is not air conditioned, super hot during the day and smell like rodents and have a few wall coverings taped in place by masking tape and a part of the hallway curtained off and that where the heat is coming fromThe rooms are quite nice and AC works

Clean bathroom Although the toilet is super high and you feel like a perching eagle with feet dangling (I am 5’10”) Pillows are of 2 varieties – feather and synthetic Decent mattress as wellThere is even a little balcony with a nice view onto the inner patioThe pool is closed due to some regulation from 2020 Gym is open 24 hrs with free weights, 2 treadmills and an elliptical Towels, disinfectant wipes and chilled water machine make it a nice experience working outBar is closed

California Dreaming

After being on the road for 4 hours I arrived to the hotel 35 minutes before the 3pm check in time I went inside to ask if I could possibly check in early (you have to be buzzed in) and as soon as the door opens the lady at the front desk yells across the lobby “if you’re here to check in check in time isn’t until 3pm” I understand rules are made to be followed, I get it, but I would have appreciated a little professionalism on her part to at least pretend to want to accommodate me even if the result (me having to wait 35 minutes to check in) was the same

So I go outside and wait until 3pm to come back to a very rude check in process (by the same lady) I was already turned off by my experience with the front desk only to open the door to a room that was subpar especially for the price I paid (there was a concert going on at the FedEx Field so I’m hoping that’s why the prices were inflated) The bed was springy and lacked support or cushion, the pillows were flat, and my comforter was dingy and stained The shower is VERY small (tub/shower combo) and had hair in it My mirrors had what I assume to be toothpaste splattered on it I explored the area and ended up checking into another hotel nearer to the concert venue that had a very polite staff and the hotel and rooms were a lot cleaner In the immediate area (literally next door to each other) are two other hotel optionsthere is a Residence Inn by Marriott and a Hilton Garden I believe I would fork over the extra couple of dollars in hopes that the service, beds, and cleanliness are better Needless to say if there is an event in the area again I would definitely not come back and will avoid any stays at the Sonesta brand in the future

Nomad Family

Nothing about this hotel makes it worth the price Staff is unprofessional They double charged our bank card for no reason

They said the money would go back to our account same day, had to wait 5+ days Rooms are decent, no amenities here except a mediocre gym Pool is closed for no reason, you have to request microwaves, the fridge in rooms is very small and don’t work well Definitely shady at night, a guy kept trying to sell stuff to us as we enter and exit the hotel building Late at night people standing in the hallways talking loudly The front desk people have no respect and speak to you like you have never stayed in a hotel before, don’t waste your money! Do not recommend and won’t return

The level of customer service for such a beautiful hotel was terrible to say the least My family and I drove 3 hours to help my sister who recently had a baby and was overwhelmed They paid for a room for us to stay in not far from their house

Upon arrival/registration process, I was told the room was not paid for and I would need to pay about $461 for the 2 nights After getting the paperwork I noticed a different card from mines showing and questioned it With an annoyed tone the rep said it was only to hold the room, which still needs to be paid for so sign here I completed the check in process as I was already exhausted and just ready to get some sleep My mom and children went up to the room while I looked for a parking spot After getting upstairs, I noticed the door would not lock at the bottom, but decided to ignore it and use the top latch I noticed my mom who is anemic,, sitting with her head wrapped up and shivering I asked what was wrong with the heat she said it wasn’t coming on but maybe she didn’t know what she was doing After trying it myself, I noticed the thermostat was not working at all, it was an old time wall thermostat with the switch on the bottom and temperature buttons to adjust No lights were displayed to indicate it was working so I called down to service desk to get it fixed or moved to another room By this time it’s a out 11:30 and had worked since 6am The woman answered the phone and after I explained what was going on replied, there are no utility workers on shift, the hotel is completely booked and the only option is to get some blankets to us I said fine reluctantly and waited for the blankets The security guard brought 2 blankets for us a few minutes later and said normally you just have to turn up the heat to warm it up He checked it out and said wow you’re right, nothing IS happening Maybe then can put you downstairs This time my mom called the front desk and was met with an unfriendly even more annoyed tone After another explanation of the heat situation, my mom asked to speak with a manager; she was told, “There is no manager, we are fully booked and I’m busy right now” My mother said there is no way I’m paying all this money to stay at a hotel with no heat, if you can’t help me then we’ll take our money elsewhere She then said you’re welcome to leave which we did After speaking to my sister, she was furious because the Crown Plaza had an affiliate hotel right across the street The agent could have tried just a tad bit more to act like she cared about her guests Customer Service is the face of a business and that experience could have been managed so differently If I could give 0 stars I would
