View is superb, our stay with lake view was awesome Clean and hygiene was maintained properly Loved staying two nights

Only one thing we didn’t like that the check out time was 11am but housekeeping people started knocking the door from 8 am which was annoying And one housekeeping person opened the door without asking which we felt bad and uncomfortable since we are sleeping We left the room at 1047 am as our check out time was 11 am Otherwise all were nice

I was supposed to stay elsewhere one night but my reservation got lost I booked a night here via a third party site because it had the best rates (that wasn’t a sketchy-looking motel) When I arrived, lo and behold, my reservation was technically on the wrong date

(At this point, it was nearly 3am, and I could not check in until 3pm)Cue the EXCELLENT customer service I was helped by an employee at the front desk named Dana He was not only incredibly friendly, but extremely understanding and accommodating He SAVED my evening, my sanity, and my “relaxing” vacation! He saw that there was a room available, got me checked in, and I was able to finally rest after a LONG day of driving from San Francisco to Truckee late at nightHe not only helped me snag a room, but he helped me reverse a complicated issue with the third party site (note to self — call a property DIRECTLY for availability, deals, and more because 3rd party sites take so much from small businesses!)The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable I had considered cancelling my booking at the other resort so I could stay here longerbut I will be sure to keep this amazing hotel in mind for a near-future visit Breakfast and coffee are included, as well as gorgeous outdoor scenery It is also very conveniently locatedVery special thank you to Dana Your kindness, your professionalism, and SUPERB customer service is what I hope all future travelers get to experience!

This was the only hotel we could get since we arrived pretty late at night Just needed a place to stay for that night only and the price was reasonable Their complimentary breakfast was very good

The donner lake is literally in the back yard of those Just need to walk a bit to arrive or drive which is like 2 min away max But I recommend the walk since it’s beautiful scenery The bad thing is the construction going on I front of it The hotel is definitely outdated But I found the bed to be very comfortable Our room was on the main floor which over looked the forest/donner park

I am going to take the time to write this review for future travelers for the area I want to begin by saying how AMAZING this lodge is I stayed in a queen bedroom woody cabin that is within walking distance to the lake

They have a hot tub and gave out complimentary s’mores on our first night Our parking space is literally right outside the cabin so it’s super convenient for those who do not like walking long distancesThey provided a soft, fuzzy blanket in our room, a cute dining table for breakfast/lunch/dinner, the whole aesthetic is SO cute, 10/10 It is on the North part of the Lake and in my opinion, the best part of the lake is the north side and the entire right hand side of the lake The drive near emerald bay is not for people afraid of heights Everything you need is within 1 mile of you—store, gas, beach access & water rentals, and restaurants & a gift shopsThis place is best if you are looking for a quiet, low key place with a cabin feel I suggest the younger crowds/party people stay in South Lake Tahoe for those kinds of experiences If you are older or just really enjoy peace and quiet, this is your spot The front desk gentlemen were so accommodating for us and really were personable, amazing people Came all the way from South Carolina, so their hospitality was A+! Can’t wait to come back here 10/10 experience 💙✨🙏

Beautifully cared for lodge – that has a wonderful personal feel We stayed in a one bedroom cabin, which was perfect for a family of four Rooms were clean, well equipped, and felt homey

We didn’t use the kitchen, but it looked like it had everything you’d need Heated pool was nice, and you can get s’mores kits from reception to roast on the fire They also have beach chairs, tubes, and coolers to borrow The beach is a short 3-4 minutes walk away

This was an amazing place to stay and enjoy great scenery, relaxing environments, and great food We did not even go skiing or snowboarding and still had a wonderful stay Definitely eat at the resort restaurants as each one had some really good food

Lastly, being part of the Olympic Palisades, there are plenty of nearby a activities to do as well I plan to go back and bring my children as it is very family friendly

Desharia Hobdy

I stayed here for my birthday and it was nothing but relaxing and beautiful views I love the six peaks grill by the steak both Megan’s at the spa were amazing! I love the six peaks grill by the steak both Megan’s at the spa were amazing! Also Tyson who works in valet is such a hard worker had made sure my experience was amazing and helped me out whenever he could This company should be super grateful to have an employee like him

I genuinely will be staying at this resort again One of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life! I definitely be coming back in the future thank you guys again at squaw Creek! My only complaint would be make sure you bring your walking shoes because I didn’t know how much walking it would be and Ubers are expensive

Goomba Boom

The views are stunning, the land is very well kept and the outside area is seriously amazing I took off a star because of little things Our fridge didn’t work, the ice machines were empty, the vending machines were all empty, the spa was closed, and the room service wasn’t available

I think little perks like this give you that pampered experience If you’re going to be spending most of your time outside, definitely an amazing place, but if you’re looking for an extra special indoor feel, I would maybe consider somewhere else Staff were all really nice though

This place was really cute We booked last minute and was able to get a queen room You can only book through the phone, rates range and number available through their website

The room we got was really cute and freshly remodeled, the furniture and decor was absolutely adorable Very comfortable and the claw bathtub was also nice Good water pressure and hot water Bed was comfortable and I liked the sheetsThe inn got a historic oldish charm that also came with some challenges Know that you’re across the rail, so while it is nice during the day, the rail runs quite often even at night It woke me up several times a night even being a heavy sleeper No AC but lots of fans provided, though it was still pretty stuffy and hot at night because I closed the window to mitigate the noise a little The window was also really hard to open or close, but that’s understandable because it’s such a historical and beautiful place I liked the slanted diagonal ceilings but be sure to not bump your headFree coffee and muffin downstairs in the morning There’s a small kitchen and lounge area and it’s connected to the restaurant and bar

This hotel is so so so wonderful It’s admittedly not for everyone but if you love places with personality, history, charm and a homey feel, this is the place Come here to get away, enjoy not being tied to technology and play a game of chess in the sitting area

The patio is wonderful to watch the snow fall or people watch and just enjoy the sights and sounds that make Truckee so specialThe bed is comfy, the staff is beyond lovely I can’t wait to come back ❤️

Emily Heard

Room was cute, but we couldn’t get into our bathroom Staff made us feel like we were stupid by just telling us how it worked but we actually couldn’t find a living person to talk to or show us Just kept telling us how everyone else could open it

so awesome that everyone else besides us could get in our toilet except us Finally got someone to show us and it was opposite of the written directions Bed also super dipped in the middle No fridge, few outlets, 3rd floor room with no elevator Pretty dang meh experience overall

Melissa Vennel (Spira)

I love old historic places Thos hotel was a wonderful mix of old and new I got a room with a bathroom (not all room have that, other rooms have a shared bathroom down the hall)

The room was spacous and clean, the bed was so comfy The bathroom was cute with its deep clawfoot tub The staff was welcoming and gracious, they made sure I was comfortable and had anything I needed I was even offered a glass of wine with my takeout dinner when I returned to the hotel I don’t drink, but that was a nice gesture I thoroughly enjoyed my stay Very restful Note: Because this is a historic building, there is no elevator and is not ADA compliant If you can handle that, I recommend staying here when in Truckee

I have stayed at The Crown several times for work and with my family Each time I have been very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms, friendliness of the staff, variety of amenities, and, of course, the absolutely unbeatable location! Melissa and her team work tirelessly to make every guest feel like family and go out of their way to accommodate guest requestsThe pool construction is clearly communicated at multiple points when booking and checking in, and with Lake Tahoe steps away from your room, who would even notice? Can’t wait to return again!

Robert Filary

Great location to Kings Beach restaurants Nice views of the lake Property is old and tired

Room was very dated and tired… unless you like dirty green carpetWe requested a room cleaning mid-stay, and it was great that we could request a cleaning time so we knew when to leave However, they never showed up Had to go back to office and request cleaning service again Very inconvenient to have to leave the room twice

TLDR: Dirty comforter with bloodstain (!!), dirty toilet, clogged bathtub, couldn’t sleep for multiple nights due to bedroom fan and living room AC not working Report the issues and didn’t even get a ‘I’m sorry’ from the manager Gabriel Instead I got his attitude and fake charges on my bill

We didn’t even ask to speak with the manager, but Gabriel called twice and were extremely curt and rudeI’ve been a long-time customer and had stayed over many times before Employees like manager Gabriel is the reason I will never stay at the village again Front desk person Tori and Silvia were helpful, but ‘management’ personnel like Gabriel and horrific housekeeping is unacceptable For example, when housekeeping came to give the replacement comforter, it was literally dumped on the coffee table instead of leaving it in the bedroomWhen we checked out, Silvia agreed that we would be refunded 2 nights of the resort fee (out of 3 nights) for inconvenience like having no electricity in the middle of the night And yet, our credit card was still charged the full 3 nights of resort fee This is a shady business practice that requires me to waste more of my time to get my money back

This place is excellent! The 5-star rating doesn’t quite do it justice (I almost feel like we need a 6th star for “Exceptional”!) The room was super clean And despite all of the snow outside, it was warm and cozy inside

Breakfast was cooked and served by Paul and Mindy themselves and it was fantastic; best breakfast I’ve had in a while! And the hospitality that Paul and Mindy gave us brought our stay to a whole other level I highly recommend this place

Nick Mueller

Thank you Paul and Mindy for making our trip to Truckee truly special The B&B is located right across Donner Lake and we felt right at home The room was warm, cozy and very comfortable with views into the forest

I wasn’t expecting much because the price was great compared to other locations nearby The rooms were furnished well and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed The comfort of our stay far exceeded our expectations

The amenities the resort had and the outstanding customer service(shout out to Ellie, Sophie, and Janeth) were the cherry on top! If I were to visit the area again, I would definitely try to book a room at this location!

Shweta Agrawal

Found this place last minute for a visit in summer Turned out to be a hidden gem! Simple small condos at reasonable priceVery friendly staff, private walk in beach with beach chairs, swings and other amenities

Pool and hot tub (though we couldn’t use it because they were always closed by the time we got back to resort) Only one little discomfort in summer was that condo had no ac and got very hot in the night, even with windows open and fans on They had told us not all condos have acs But also probably one of the hottest weeks in the year, and the condo is likely designed for winters Other than that overall the service was great Highly recommended, and would stay again

DO NOT STAY HERE This is the WORST and most disgusting excuse for lodging I’ve ever seenI have lived in Tahoe for 12+ years, and have never seen such a sorry excuse for accommodation

It embarrasses me as a local that this is what our visitors may experienceI recently had a baby, and my family drove up to meet her I wanted to have them stay nearby, so I booked them a room at Tahoe Sands for $700+Upon arrival, we immediately smelled mildew and found mold in the room We opened the windows to air it out, but it did nothing This made the room inhabitable The rooms are dirty, disgusting, and this place is essentially run into the ground without any management or staff to assistI tried to call the front desk and text the number the staff had been texting me from, but no one answered Still, nearly a week later, I can’t get a response from the hotel about this experienceI will be filing a complaint with the BBB and ensure all local entities are aware of this

The service was exceptional from general manager to the cleaning crews This is the best hotel out of everything that I have been to Jared Souther (General Manager), Stevenson (Front Desk Supervisor) and Can were all welcoming

They greeted with professionalism from start to finish Room was clean and fully functional There are amenities like complimentary breakfast, 24 hour gym, open pool with spa and laundry room I have included a few pictures in this post I will definitely recommend this hotel

Newer hotel Clean and comfortable They did charge $10 per car per night for parking

Right off the freeway and still fairly close to everything That said, Google maps showed it 07 miles from the edge of downtown Truckee Thought that would make for a good walk after dinner and drinks there Good thing I drove it first The road is dark, without sidewalk, and cars move pretty quick Would not suggest walking that path at night

Weiqi Y.

Stayed here twice for Northstar skiing trips It’s a good location for this purpose, just leave hotel <30min before lift running and no pressure to park in the closer free lotDue to the location, this place is not cheap during snow seasons - easily over easily over $400/d for weekend days

If you think about how much you spend, it’s hard to stay happy for everything about this hotel – 1) Free break fast as it’s SpringHill branded, but barely eatable Not even as good as an avg holiday inn express 2) Noisy, especially for the rooms facing the highway Last one is to Marriott also – 3) the “guaranteed” late checkout is “never guaranteed”, they ignore the request you made in app checkin, and simply say no when you ask due to “availability reason” Fake advertise from Marriott I guess? (I’m Titanium tier member, 4pm checkout is “guaranteed” benefit)

If I can give double the stars I would My significant other and I travel to Tahoe every year for a week or so but we have always stayed in South Lake Tahoe We decided to switch it up and hit North

I saw this place and chose it based on the good reviews We drove 8hrs to get here and this place did not disappoint at all! Gerard provided amazing customer service, very friendly and we were accommodated very well for our 2 week stay The views were amazing, the kind of peace and quiet we experienced in this area was very calming Rooms were clean, towels given often, house cleaning made They have private cabins that are separate from the rooms they are very private/ intimate for families or couples it comes with its own kitchen and mini living room We stayed at the newly renovated Seven Woods King, came with its own kitchen and one king bed One thing i loved besides the decor was the fact that the kitchens were fully equipped! Everything about our stay was outstanding!!! The decor felt so homey and we wish we didn’t have to leave We got to experience not only a romantic stay but also a stay with friendly staff and a great environment If you are reading and thinking of staying here, Do it!! You will not regret it I promise!! Thanks Gerard!!! We will definitely be back next year this time around 🙂

Staying in the Tamarack Lodge was a warm, welcoming, and very comfortable experience Gerard and Family were pleasant and helpful hosts The lodge building is rustic, but clean with all the modern conveniences including very comfy beds, nice linens and fluffy towels

The location was terrific-we rented snowshoes in Tahoe City on the way and walked around the property and the State Park is right there The next day, we drove about a mile to Tahoe X Country Ski Area Tahoe City was about a mile away for shopping and delicious food I look forward to returning soon (Maybe we’ll stay in a cabin next time as they looked really nice, too ) Alice Franco

Over 20 years ago we found Tahoe and have returned every year Luckily, we soon found The Tamarack Lodge and have stayed there ever since It is the perfect location, close to town and the lake, reasonably priced, quiet, surrounded by trees and lovingly cared for by its resident owners, Gerard and Frederique Fenech and their sons

It’s spotlessly clean, cozy, comfortable and continually updated, offering every modern convenience with an inviting and unique charm Couldn’t ask for better!!!

Like many BW hotels, this is not a new building, but it has been updated Amenities (beautiful pool and spa, lounge area, outdoor fire pit, ample parking) were great Best breakfast – full buffet with friendly kitchen staff – included in rate, amazing! Front desk folks are super friendly

3 minute walk to several restaurants Quiet and restful night Loved it!

Our car broke down just outside of town Hauling three kids and a pet they gouged is on everything they could Including trying to charge us for a late checkout while we waited for our car to finish being repaired for two extra hours

Our rooms air conditioner was broken as well, making the nights stay even more miserable Indifferent unapologetic staff Overall a terrible (and yet still insanely expensive) experience

We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back We stayed in the forest side cabin The only downfall to that

When you are on the beach, there are no restroom so it’s a long walk back across a busy street No trash cans, and very limited chairs close to the water line but a lot of chairs and umbrellas up in the beach further upOn the forest side, it was peaceful and quiet BUT we noticed the workers live in some of the cabins too, so they are not as nice and neat on the outside and a few junk piles around That side of the property could be a little nicer Our cabin area was great, lots of Cobb webs in the room, ceiling, corner and some spiders which I just cleaned with a broom Wonderful customer service was wonderful, easy to communicate and very accommodating The young kids working the water equipment work extremely hard and are super helpful

My husband and I came on our 20th anniversary and and couldn’t have been happier with our stay The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful It felt more like staying with family (in all the best ways) than staying at a resort

Staff helped us feel comfortable and welcome with suggestions on where to eat and where to explore The beach was lovely and restful, the rooms large and comfortable, and the amenities nicely done But what really put everything over the top for us was the AMAZING customer service We already booked for next year!

Remember , this is a hostel Basically a bed at the end of the day The woman who was on duty was friendly and attentive

The room was clean and well kept as was the bathroom I stayed In a dorm and had plenty of room to store my gear I did not notice any road noise and very little from the near by rail line Granted I didn’t sleep very well, but it’s a dorm, and I did not use the white noise, ear plugs may help, 5 other people in the room Keep in mind that the tahoe basin is a world destination and the price is definitely a value Good beer Pizza is OK but hey, for 20 bucks it works Always interesting folks at the bar

I’m quite confident that anyone who complains about this place doesn’t understand what a hostel is, or has never stayed in one The place clearly advertises it’s a hostel or”bunk style hotel” for those who that doesn’t register This is the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in my fair share of European and Asian hostels

It’s a little on the pricey end but for American prices this is amazing I’ve paid more for a motel 6 that didn’t provide me a foam mattress and a sound machine Yes some amenities are shared but that’s because it’s a HOSTEL I would absolutely recommend Staff is lovely Location is divine Details are too notch Bed is comfortable Privacy for a hostel is well above average I’m so happy to know these place exist in the us for budget travelers who cant afford the $250 Hampton inn aka the next sharpest option
