Amazing hotel Great hospitality, staff was very friendly Room looked brand new and hallways smelled fresh

Beds were comfortable Breakfast was fresh, hot and tasty We were there for the weekend but decided to leave after my daughter didn’t make the team she was trying out for, they only charged me one night without me even asking, wow! Most places would have preferred to get money than my loyalty Will definitely be staying here again!

Hampton Inn, Lamar, PA- June 19, 2022 stayThis was the last night we stayed in a hotel on our way back from California This Hampton Inn is nestled among the hills along route 80 It was a beautiful spot

My wife and I have travelled across the country many times On our last trip we hit a deer on the second day going from New York to California We were stranded in Akron, Ohio for six nights while our car was being repaired When we got our car to Serra Honda (Akron), we could see a Hampton Inn from the repair bay and we decided to stay there while we waited for the car to be repairedWe also travel with our beloved Black Lab, Greta Most of the Hampton Inns were pet-friendly and had grounds which were conducive to pets Greta seemed to enjoy each room since they were set up in a similar mannerAfter our car was repaired we decided that we would stay at Hampton Inns while we travelled cross-country, both ways The Hampton Inns are all pretty similar and all are pretty comfortable What set them apart from each other are the personnel and the morning breakfastSince I am rating each hotel, I will rate these specific criteria (5- best/1- worse):• Front Desk/Check-in: 5• Room Cleanliness: 5• Appropriate Pet Areas: 5• Morning Breakfast: 5

Booked room through Hilton App with confirmation received Showed up after long drive and the front desk (Autumn) says they do not have any rooms available even though we were booked and reserved Offered to open up a blocked off room that has no air conditioning

Unbelievable really Hilton is usually great about customer service but those place should not be considered part of the Hilton family There are other nearby hotels so I would suggest staying elsewhere!

This hotel is in hospitality lane with NO hospitality at all Not even worth of 1 ⭐️I booked this over phone to stay one night on my way to NY with family and that one night stay was miserable At first i was given wrong room and realized that after going to 3rd floor with baby and luggage, upon calling front desk I am told to come downstairs and sort it out

Again In the middle of the night I got call to landline phone and asked to come downstairs as there was an issue with the payment (midnight) And in the morning I woke up with a big surprise NO WATER AT ALL and the management was not responsive about it and I had to book another hotel just to use bathroom and fresh-up tocontinue my journeyI made a mistake choosing this hotel

FRAUDULENT BUSINESS- DO NOT MAKE A HOTEL RESERVATIONWe booked a hotel reservation at Carnegie House and received an electronic confirmation however, when we arrived at the hotel they claimed that they did not have a reservation for us We asked if they had a room and the front desk manager said that he did not know and he needed to call his manager who was not onsite He refused to call the manager in front of us and instead went into the back to call

When he came back he said that they did not have a room Clearly they had a room because he had the hotel computer in front of him He said that the manager did not answer, so how did he suddenly know that he did not have a room?He also said that they were having issues with 3rd party sites overbooking the hotel However, we did not book with a 3rd party site We booked with the hotel directly If they knew that they were having issues with overbooking, why did they not bother to alert everyone who had a reservation online that there may be a problem? We had traveled from the West Coast and this happened at 9:45 PM, so it was very late and we had no place to stayWhat is very odd is that I called the hotel the day before to check on amenities in the room We were left a message by the hotel to say that they were looking forward to our arrival Another odd thing is that they had our personal information in their system How was that possible if they did not have our reservation? We had never stayed at the hotel beforeThe front desk person said that the manager would contact us first thing the next morning when she was back in Of course, we never heard anything the next day or any day afterUnless you want to be stranded in State College without a room, I recommend that you NOT make a reservation to stay at this hotel

Restaurant review (I did not stay)The chefs do a really good job of preparing classy dishes that aren’t pretentious That’s actually a hard act to pull off, and both times I went here I was satisfied

Everything I had was superb, but the real winners tonight were the wild mushroom risotto and the lamb wellington My immediate impression was that the apple dessert is probably the crown jewel of the desert menu, but I wound up going with the chocolate tart instead I don’t even normally like fruit with my chocolate, but honestly I couldn’t think of any way to possibly improve that dish even if I wanted to It was really greatThe vegetables in the salads were succulent and, from my taste, fresh I think they’re grown locally The chilled lobster salad was also very good, but don’t be afraid to add a little more pepper if the server offers itOn that note, the wait staff was also phenomenal (Toni also was an excellent server) The food and service were timed perfectlyThe only quibble I have is that I wish they didn’t serve the oysters on a bed of seaweed I get that it’s fragrant and adds to the presentation of the dish, but I personally don’t like inedible, decorative components on my plate That said, that’s more personal preference than anything (and I still order these every time I go)If you’re on the fence, this a great option in State College for fine dining Give it a shot

Jeremy Yowell

While in town for graduation we decided to stay at Carnegie house and had a delightful time The front desk was extremely helpful, and accommodated us throughout the trip The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and the bathrooms were quite large

We’d definitely come back!

Wow! What a gem! We are so fortunate to have stumbled upon Nancy’s beautiful home It was the perfect stay for our family/girls weekend The accommodations were exactly what we needed

Lots of space and privacy The beds and sheets were very comfortable! Everything was very clean We loved the spectacular gardens and sitting on the quiet porch We are so appreciative of Nancy and her hospitality We can’t wait to come back

Mima Gonzalez

My fiance surprised me for a romantic night It is a lovely home filled with beauty Nancy is very hospitable

However, it ended up not being a romantic stay because the room above us had a child that kept us up from 2:30 – 3:30 am then again at 6 am Also, when we returned from dinner there was dog poop near the downstairs fireplace and table for two where we had waffles for breakfast the next morning Unfortunately our experience wasn’t as good as others!

Tom Bovo

Recently stayed there on a trip across Pennsylvania, and then again on the way back It was clean, comfortable, relaxing, unique, and friendly, in a town that can only be described as clean, comfortable, relaxing, and friendly The Queen is a welcome step up from a chain, and they were dog friendly, so our 1 year old Brittany was welcomed

The other guests were part of the charm, and I highly recommend having breakfast in the garden

Mary, the night desk lady, was super friendly and accommodating for a late night check-in and assisted us in getting 2 roll away beds Megan, the morning desk lady, was super friendly at assisting in additional morning shower towels! The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve seen at a Marriott Property The rooms, amenities, decor, etc

was modern and very clean Everyone was super inviting and friendly, even for a one night stay

Richard Marmorstein

Made us and our two dogs feel so welcome when we checked in, even handed us some dog biscuits! That meant a lot Some “dog-friendly” hotels make you feel like your dogs are barely tolerated, but here we felt very welcomeIt was really great to have the dishes/dishwasher/full-sized fridge

The pool was great, open until 11

Came for one night after a vacation to DC coming back to Michigan Wonderful hotel I loved the area, but also the room was very nice

2 queen beds, but it had a place to sit, in a chair, a desk, and a little sitting area by the door Bathroom was nice too Would definitely return if we were ever in the area Well done with the cleaning too

Michelle Voss

The Graduate hotel chain is such a great unique experience every location you go to Our Penn state room was highly detailed with lots of extras – fun old fashioned phone, awesome lamps, and very clean bathroom Convenient restaurant on premise

This location is currently undergoing some renovations here and there but we still enjoyed our few days there

Sheila Beebe

This was our third stay here, and will stay here every time we pass through town Clean, well-appointed rooms, on site restaurant and bar (always check hours with the front desk, as they do vary), helpful and friendly staff Good location in walking distance to restaurants and bars as well

On site parking We had a small problem with room on stay #2 and it was immediately fixed A little pricey but well worth it

We have stayed in many B&B’s over the years to celebrate our anniversary This was by far one of the nicest The mansion is on the National register of Historic places and has been in existence since 1886

The building has been very well maintained and is beautiful inside and out We were greeted by our hostess Tricia and given a tour and brief explanation of the mansion We selected the Green room for our stay and were glad we did It was large, clean, decorated nicely, and comfortable They had recently installed a large jetted tub that was so awesome Even my over 6ft husband fit comfortably, which never happens Our 3 course breakfast prepared by our host Mike was delicious and enjoyed in a pretty dining room A great start to our day I highly recommend you stay here and you will be well taken care of by the friendly innkeepers Tricia and Mike

Mike Mann

What an amazing place The mansion is incredible inside and out We stayed in the Penn State room and it was decorated with a lot of Penn State memorabilia

Very spacious room with a whirlpool bath and a very comfortable bed Mike and Tricia are amazing hosts They make you feel comfortable from the moment you enter and will do anything to make your stay great The breakfasts were delicious and the service was top- notch We’ve stayed in a lot of B&Bs but our stay at the Reynolds Mansion was by far the best! We highly recommend it and we can’t wait to go back!

David Kingsley

First time ever at a B&B Our visit to the Reynolds Mansion was a wonderful experience It was great to learn about the mansion from our hosts, and very nice conversing with the other guests

We were attending Nita-Nee KC Dog show in the area and stayed 1 night We were so pleased with the accommodations The views were so pretty and the room was very clean

We had a late dinner and night cap in the Restaurant/Bar which was on the same floor as our room That was cool In the morning we were treated to a complimentary breakfast that was above and beyond The staff was very sweet all around! We hope to go back next summer! Thank you!

Walt & Helen Knerr

We spent 10 days at the Wyndham Garden State College while our home was being repaired The hotel is beautiful and in a great location But, the best things about our stay were the staff and the food

The breakfast buffet was delicious and varied, the restaurant’s food was excellent and the wait staff was even better The manager, housekeeping staff, and the front desk staff were friendly and very helpful and always took a moment to make us feel at home I would recommend this hotel to everyone It was a great value for our money

Brandon Dean

Great for golfing and nice hotel They clean the rooms once per 3 night stay, so if you stay three nights, you do not get the room cleaned until checkout The room I stayed in had a large shower, no doorway/curtain so the bathroom floor was fairly wet

Nice breakfast till 930am Dinner restaurant closes kinda early, food service stopped around 9pm, last call around 10pmClean place

Great place, staff is friendly and really accommodating, location was ideal for attending events on Penn State campus Four stars because the rooms were noisy when people were staying the floor above you, you could hear every step and muted conversation Breakfast was really good the first morning, the second morning the eggs were a bit rubbery and the sausages were water logged and cool

All in all I would certainly return for the price and experience weren’t that bad at all Pool was lovely and the gym was nice, patio was beautiful to take in the air and grill this time of year!

Gregory Jones Sr

The hotel was clean but the room and location left a lot to be desired The room layout was strange where the TV was located on the side wall making it awkward to watch The worst physical issues were with the bathroom

The faucet was too small for the sink which caused the water stream to be only a half inch from the side if the sink Forget about putting your hands or toothbrush under the faucet without contacting the wall of the sink If you needed to use the commode, the toilet paper holder was a good 2 1/2 feet away! Better hope you have long arms They did have a decent breakfast arrangement situated next to a grave yard kept the noise level down but also put the location away from any store or general shopping except for a Sheetz station It is located a short distance off 99 so there is easy access The only general seating is in the breakfast area consisting of just tables and chairs so no comfortable seating for socializing

Andrew Bizyaev

This place is the best hotel in the area BY FAR! I’ve been to all of the local hotels; country Inn, Hampton Inn, and this place is the best deal Don’t bother with western they have the worst rates and staff of all, Hampton is also good, but this place has the best rates, the absolute BEST staff, Kevin is an amazing hotel manager and Cristina is the best receptionist I’ve spoken too Spend your vacation here, it’s a living dream 🙂

My husband and I will be staying here every time we come to this area Not only is the b&b located in a great spot close to restaurants and rivers and creeks, the owners are the sweetest most helpful people I have ever met The rooms and bathroom are beautiful and clean with everything you need

Connie makes the most AMAZING breakfast we have ever tasted and makes it at the time you ask for! Each meal was more tasty and beautiful than the last Steve was so kind and so helpful He literally drove us to show us fishing spots because we were new to the area Absolutely incredible

Roger Spahr

We spent two nights separated at the beginning and the end of our trip East to visit family What an amazing oasis of calm and quiet Room and bath super clean and towels and robes fluffy

We did not have other families or guest to compete for bathroom time but having to share isn’t an issue as it was clear where to place towels etc when finished Breakfast was probably the best of any BnB I have ever stayed Hopefully you can experience the Crème Brûlée French toast Connie and Steve marvelous hosts and worth your consideration for an extraordinary stay

Mark Fleeger

Very nice place and people are awesome but the reason for 3 stars are: they have a full size bed and a shared restroom so keep that in mind when booking When we went to use the bathroom it was tied up for almost 45 minutes They also did nothing (no housekeeping)to the bathroom and/or our room

We went in to the bathroom their dirty wash clothes & ours plus towels were still in there on the tub

Stayed here with my crew (I’m a photographer) last weekend The whole day occurred at the venue, from the morning through to the ceremony and the event It went great

Was very convenient for everything to be in one place with the space to host it all with room to spareThe room was nice and had a pullout couch, too, which was greatWould definitely recommend The Penn Stater to anyone looking to host an event or wedding in the areaWill come back to this review to post pics!

Christopher Jones

Everyone from the front desk staff to the servers to housekeepers were very friendly The fastest hotel elevators I’ve ever been in My 2 queen bed room was very clean and very cozy with a very comfortable bed

little bonus- I was on the 4th floor and there was a great view of the horizon over the trees the only petty gripe I have is that the bathroom was small The hotel has 2 restaurants, The Pub and The Garden Breakfast at the garden was standard breakfast, I didn’t get a chance to have the Sunday brunch but it looked incredible The Pub has a nice assortment of salads and sandwiches I had the Caesar and House Steak salad and both were great They are known for their Reuben and there is a good reason for it it was incredible! The crispy coated french fries were great also You will not leave there hungry, i guarantee it The fitness center has a nice little variety of machines with some weights Nothing exciting but totally gets the job done The pool area looked clean, but I didn’t partake The campus/ downtown area and major stores are within a 5 minute drive Would stay there again for sure

JJ

I wasn’t there for a conference, just an overnight stay Staff, pub and lobby are great But, the industrial design of the early 90s interior isn’t holding up

If hospital designs are your thing, you’ll feel rejuvenated at the Penn Stater Come on! Isn’t this supposed to be Penn State? Work that junk! In the rooms, let’s see some PSU blue and white, add some nice Penn State prints to the walls, and for god’s sake, put blankets/comforters on the beds for some weight- it felt like I was sleeping under a curtain runner Check! You’ll also see that reasonably sized TVs have come down incredibly from 2005- no need for guests to fumble with binoculars So, great people, great downstairs But, upstairs it has only slightly more charm and sophistication of a local maternity ward or mental hospital Sort of weird
