Our room was clean, save for the stains we discovered on the edge of the fitted sheets, the shower was nice! I don’t usually write reviews, and I would have ranked this one higher, but I felt compelled to give it a lower rating due to the overall not super friendly staff The majority of the time we felt like we were overstepping or inconveniencing the staff for asking for the bare minimum (Paying separate from the room charge while getting snacks, ordering from the bar, which was very uncomfortable- and asking for a later checkout) It was overall a clean stay, but I don’t think we’ll be booking for this hotel again- it didn’t feel worth the over $200 pricing

BEWARE! Had the worst hotel experience of my life Our original reservation was down the road at the Hampton They overbooked and sent us down to the Hilton Garden Inn – which basically ruined our vacation! The fire alarm went off multiple times throughout the night – causing us to spend over an hour in the lobby at 2am in the morning with other weary customers

The staff was sooo unhelpful and very rude throughout the entire process While all of us congregated in the lobby, horror stories started to unfold of people’s experiences in this hotel in the last few days Two different people overheard front desk conversations involving theft from their rooms, one current customer experienced someone trying to open his door in the middle of the night, another customer had a large red stain on their sheets when they arrived and the staff had the audacity to come to the room and offer him rubber gloves and a bucket for him to clean it!?! One customer had been given keys to their room, and as they entered there was someone already occupying the room?! You can’t make this stuff up, it’s so ridiculous!! We were told that we were going to have our money refunded Surprise, surprise they have backpedaled from that and are now offering their lousy points The general manager is an absolute coward and will not field any phone calls By the way, there was NEVER a manager around during the entirety of the stay Absolute worst hotel experience Do yourself a favor and stay away! There are 3 great hotels right across the street

Bill Shirley

The worst experience we have ever had in a Hilton property As Hilton Honors members for over 20 years with never a complaint, I guess we were due The unfriendly staff were major slackers

The TV didn’t work so they moved us Not much improvement-sat outside on the patio that evening after purchasing a drink at the bar, and after sitting down, we realized the cushions were very wet(Not visible) The next morning, only coffee, cold cereal and cold bagels were available unless you wanted to purchase a hot breakfast We went to sit on the patio again only this time the cushions were visibly wet! Maybe someone could take them in at night…??? The biggest problem was that I left clothing in the closet and reported it after checking out the next day The desk clerk who took my call said she was too busy to check then but would return my call That never happened and after two more calls, she told me nothing was found That means whoever cleaned the room took my things from the closet By this time, the housekeeping staff had gone home I was told to ask for Crystal, head of housekeeping, the next day, but surprise, surprise, Crystal wasn’t in that day I later spoke to James, the manager who promised to return my call by the end of the day That didn’t happen The next day I spoke with Craig, the regional manager who was going to follow up He said my clothing was not found We basically got the runaround from everyone we spoke with They were very unresponsive Bottom line, we stopped there the next day on our return trip, and continued to get no satisfaction The clothing was not found-“goodbye” For a one night stay over $21300, it’s a ripoff I wish we had read the reviews before booking Don’t make the mistake of leaving anything behind because you’ll never see it again

Located within 10 minutes of St Joe Restaurants and highway nearby

Staff were very friendly and helpful Room and bathroom were large Bed was very comfortable A little dusty in places but otherwise quite clean Reasonable rates compared to others we researched Our recommendations would be to provide a comfortable sitting chair (only an office chair in the room) and apply anti-slip strips in the handicap shower (the floor was slippery which is dangerous) A few improvements and this could be a perfect stay All in all a very comfortable and pleasant place to stay

Allen Lewis

Nice location, new hotel Like the vinyl floors in the rooms, as we had just stayed at another hotel where the carpet turned our feet black However, still thought the floors could have been a little cleaner

They use “Swiffer” style mops, and I think a regular mop may be more effective Wish there was a microwave in the room Relatively convenient to St Joseph Overall good though, would recommend and would stay again Customer service experience was better than average

Sherryl Santos

Once we entered the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly front desk employee The lobby and rooms were very modern Rooms were clean, which is important to me

I thought the bed and pillows were super comfy, and the sheets were soft to the touch Also, the continental breakfast was actually quite nice There was a nice spread of sausage & biscuits, eggs, cereal, toast, etcThere were only a few cons I’m glad there was a fridge, but it was missing a small freezer part, which most hotel fridges would have I actually needed to refreeze a couple of ice packs that I brought with me, so I wasn’t able to do that this time On another note, the location what is about 10 minutes south of the downtown portion of St Joseph, but it was an easy drive to get to and froI would still definitely recommend this place It’s nice!

I am typing this on behalf of my parents who stayedBarb was a fantastic host and we had fun getting to know her and talking She is also a great cook!We had an awesome experience and our room was clean and very relaxing

We enjoyed sitting on our patio enjoying the weatherThe location was right by a variety of different wineries and enjoyed going to them for tastings! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend anyone to stay here!

Mary Kate Tabor

My husband and I recently stayed here for a long weekend as our first vacation in quite some time The property is absolutely beautiful, it is decorated to today’s tastes and so clean and comfortable Barb was an incredible host

Her advice and willingness to share ideas on what to do and where to visit was so helpful The best part was definitely her home-cooked breakfasts each morning that were out of this world! We cannot say enough about how wonderful Among the Vineyards is and we cannot wait to stay again!

Jody Silhavy

Our weekend at Among the Vineyards was perfect! The outdoor space is incredible! We spent the day by the pool snacking by the outdoor kitchen area and enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit at night The rooms were spotless and the whole house was decorated so perfectly! Barb was a great host with amazing cooking skills The breakfast was out of this world

We will definitely be back next year!

I have stayed here before in the past it was a great hotel The cleanest of the hotel has went down the carpet going up the stairs was extremely dirty The carpet in my room had a two big red stains on the floor

The breakfast used to be exceptional now it’s trashIn the evenings they used to put out popcorn and different treats with lemon water, that’s no longer The young lady checked me in she was great very patient and warming That was the only thing that I was pleased with I was at the Staybridge hotel next-doorI had to leave because they were over book I stayed there a couple of nights that hotel is fantastic from free laundry to exceptional breakfast exceptional social hour and the staff was great!!

I am a top tier Marriott member (Titanium level) so I stay at many Marriott properties I’ve stayed here twice During the first I was put in a highway facing room and it was very noisy

During my second stay, my room was facing the tear and far quieter The room, dispite the enhanced sanitizing had visible dust on the shelves and of 11 lights in the room, one was missing and 2 were burned out I really liked the room layout and location, there needs to be attention to details Last, but far from least was a group of young people coming in at midnight and causing quite a commotion I am working long hours and going to bed at 9 pm and after being awoke from a sound sleep at midnight, had a difficult time returning to sleep after two phone calls to the front desk No real apologies and no compensation for when I interrupted night sleep I certainly don’t feel like a top-tier loyalty member based on this stay

George Fisher

Very nice rooms This one has updated amenities with a more modern feel that makes it feel much more expensive than it isCombine that with a friendly and helpful staff and you have a winner

If you happen to be in the St Joseph area in Michigan and need a nice place to stay, this is it

Spent a long weekend (29 April – 1 May) to attend a family wedding in St Joseph Michigan at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites What a terrific place to stay– directly across from the Lake! It was such a nice view, even on cloudy, overcast days

St Joseph, the city is really pretty and the Holiday Inn Express is minutes from great food, shopping or just a sight-seeing trip in the car admiring all the beautiful homes The most impressive part of our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in St Joseph was the staff Every single staff member from the desk clerk to the on-site maintenance guy was friendly, helpful and genuinely nice! The folks who took care of breakfast were EXCEPTIONAL!!! They made sure there was plenty of food and that it was hot and fresh They interacted with everyone, making sure we all had what we wanted and the area was very clean and well stocked with plates, napkins, tea bags—absolutely everything! The rooms were clean, the housekeeping staff provided us with plenty of extra towels at our request Overall the place was quiet, not a lot of noise, so sleeping wasn’t difficult Plenty of parking with an Italian Bar and Restaurant just a stroll across the parking lot We would certainly stay there again if we ever return to St Joseph

Champ1964

Excellent location, walk across the street for a beautiful overlook of Lake Michigan Overall the same as most Holiday Inn express rooms 75% more to stay here than a room without a view

It was worth it for the location and the staff was friendly with a clean and safe atmosphere Plenty of parking Complementary breakfast could have been better compared to the South Bend Indiana Holiday Inn express location we stayed in the night before No bacon, no cheese omelettes, boiled sausage patties, no sausage links, no bananas May 17-18, 2022

Rachel Rusticus

We needed a last minute place to stay due to weather/long road trip The price given at the desk was certainly higher than we tend to pay (we usually find deals with Priceline, etc)

But the location was ideal, safe area, and old school charm of a unique hotel There’s car, dog, and horse carousel statues for pictures & kids to climb on in the lobby Breakfast was good—yummy cinnamon rolls, protein options, and plenty of seating even with a good crowd The first room we had was musty/smoke smelling, but we were given a different room that worked well Beds were great, and the room could have been a little cleaner/better (vacuumed better/newer towels/better shower water), but the hotel all in all was good in a pinch Staff at front desk and in dining area were helpful and positive

Beautiful campground Great location Renita is the best! Despite a mix up in reservation, she went above and beyond to accommodate me at 11:00 at night

She worked so hard to make me comfortable She is a true gem So glad I stayed here Only suggestion would be to put more fans in the bathroom to cool the bathroom Heat and humidity makes it too hot in the bathroom

Laura Anne Shonka Baynes (Etherhial1)

This was a wonderful visit I took care of a friend’s dog The artwork in town was REMARKABLE to view as I walked by and the local bar and grill was delightful

The local grocery was nicely small and friendlyThe view of the river is soothing and lovelyThe bathhouses were clean and separate so privacy was well enjoyedThe staff very patient and knowledgeable

Mike Maintenance

Super friendly staff! The campground itself is as clean as I have ever seen, both the grounds and the restrooms are impeccable Large flat sites with fire rings and picnic tables There’s a beautiful river at one corner of the campground

A very nice playground for the children In some of the cleanest shower bathrooms I have accounted in Michigan

Incredible service on the phone today with staff member, Latonyia! My phone kept getting disconnected due to cell service issues on my end and each time I spoke with her she was patient, understanding and extremely helpful She had such a positive attitude and it was really appreciated Effortless booking experience over the phone! We are looking forward to our stay!

Nice hotel The bed is horrible The mattress holds the heat from your body, I had the air conditioning on all night

It was a bit better the second night leaving the air and the fan on constantly but still hot There was a crazy lady screaming in the hall way at 4 am I called the front desk, she said she had called the police but she lied! She didn’t Horrible! Getting on the highway with just a few hours of sleep was not good

Deb Wilk

Don’t stay here is you have asthma!!! Something in the bedding triggered my husband’s allergies Caused him to have breathing problems We had to leave after only a couple hours

It seemed like a nice place and very clean The staff were nice about it, but couldn’t provide hypoallergenic bedding We’ve never had this issue at any other hotel, including other Marriott

Quick check in The room was nice A pizza box was forgotten on the microwave

We wanted two more pillow but didn’t get them due to short staff, I guess That’s all right but the receptionist knocked at our door at 12am because he just have mistaken the roomThey have a pool and a fitness In the morning there was a complementary breakfast – boiled eggs, burgers, waffles, oats, juices and coffee, yoghurt and apples I think the place is nice for a short stay

Laura Ellen

Let me preface this by saying we stayed here pre-pandemic and the staff and rooms were lovely This time, however, it was quite the opposite The first room we were sent to did not even have the beds made

The next room was ok but we had only 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth for the whole 5 days we were there Housekeeping never came to our room Guests were leaving linens and trash in hallway A guest pulled the fire alarm at 2am and the elevator did not work after that for 2 days Staff was uncaring and unfriendly and in no way apologetic We were told that the upper manager was not going to offer any discount nor call unhappy guests We were given his email address It was the worst hotel experience I have had

Laurie Holt

We reserved this room for our daughter and her friends while they were visiting There was no toilet paper, no shampoo and soap, and one towel for three people The front desk was super busy,So she turned around and went back to her room

I called to make sure the room had been cleaned and not ignored, she said it had been cleaned but not restocked Hmmmm Not real happy that we used our points, which is basically still paying for the room Iwe were offered a small amount of points back Big deal There’s plenty of hotels in the area we will use them next time

Very disappointing stay Stayed here previously for family vacations and loved it This is our first Post Covid stay and it was very bad

Was told check in was at 4pm but our room was not clean and unavailable until 6pm! When we finally got it the cleaning job was poor 2 bedroom 2 bath suite and we were given only 3 towels!Looked like the room had not been vacuumed There was no maid service provided on our last night And no one answered at the front desk for 30 minutes Not worth staying in a dirty hotel Stay elsewhere

Nora Christopher

I loved the hotel it was conveniently close to our destinations we booked a kitchen suite which was helpful so we didn’t spend much on going out to eatwe were there for 2 weeks and our room didn’t get cleaned untill our 7th day there

Wish we would’ve been told upon check in that they were short staffed We wouldn’t have thought that they didn’t care about us as guests I would stay there again but this time I would ask about shortage of staff so we know to ask for towels and TP sooner

Abigail Kirkman

The hotel is nice and so are the rooms along with the staff who are extremly nice The roof was also great However, there were a few issues to the room we were assigned too, the room had been just barley cleaned compared to the others

There was gummy and a book left ontop of the fridge, the sofa and chairs had crumbs on them, the shower door didn’t stay shut, the bathroom door didn’t lock, the back of one of the doors had no handle The stove wasn’t clean and there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, back of the remote was broken off, one of the TV’s didnt work ethier The eye hole on the door had a broken cover too There was also left over clothes in the back of the dresser and trash between the dresser and wall However we went to the front to explain what was all wrong, they offered to let us change rooms and we’re willing to discount us $100 if we chose to stay in the room The room was 222 for anyone else who may get aassigned to it, due to them will to fix and and even discount us with no issues I think it’s not that bad I hope this was a 1 in times thing- it’s understandable that there are many rooms and not the many staff so it may of been a lack of time and trying to rush, you could tell they are least took care of the main stuff like tradh, sweeping and other things The staff also gave our herseys and Oreos for free

Great place to rent for beautiful Lake Michigan views Quaint Cottages manages the place and they are very responsive to our needs We recently rented a chalet and I emailed Quaint Cottages with some issues

Charles came out the very next day to address our concerns He was exceptional accommodating and personable The sunsets over Lake Michigan are worth the trip The Chalets are clean and comfortable We are having a very enjoyable trip

Matt Curry

The whole property is very well taken care of and there was always something to do for my family especially with the kids We enjoyed going to the beach, pool, playground and tennis court each day! We stayed at Chalet 76 and it is nicer than most we have stayed in, definitely worth it We loved spending time in the 3 seasons type porch

The beach is still there with enough space to play in the sand and play in the water

Jane Niermann

The location is nice, we enjoyed the lake and playgrounds If you’re planning a visit, don’t stay at Chalet #93, it is poorly kept-up The couch, fridge, and oven were all broken

There was no hot water for half the week, based on the above issues, I assumed there was no hot water in any of the chalets When I called the management and informed them of all of the issues, they said they would address them The next day, a plumber came and fixed the hot water (a pipe had burst under the Chalet) The other item weren’t fixed or addressed Our food spoiled and we were unable to cook for the week The bunk beds are very narrow and they didn’t provide guard rails Our son fell out of bed on the first evening, and fortunately he was not harmed Without guardrails, 2 of the beds were unavailable for us to use When I called to discuss a refund, they never called back

Dirty rooms with Oreo pieces on the floor, pillow and bed sheets stained, bed was okay in comfort, day shift service was good, night shift was atrocious Probably could get the same results for 1/2 the price at Red roof inn or something of that nature minus a possibility of bed bugs The 2nd worst hotel I’ve stayed at in as many hotel visits I’ve had in Michigan

Laura Gallitz

Lobby was outdated and wasn’t very clean Front desk was rarely staffed (I checked several times for towels and no one was there) In our room, there was missing pieces of trim and the cupboards and tub were dented, scratched and marred

Mattresses were saggy I expected more for $150/night! I would not recommend staying at this hotel Also, my daughter and her husband’s room had bugs crawling all over the ceiling and walls Gross!

Beautiful hotel Almost all of the staff was very kind Great rooms with a great view

Very fair nightly rates Room Service breakfast was quite delicious The complimentary breakfast was good as well Did have a few small issues Overall room cleanliness could have been a little better Unfortunately a used (Wet) towel from a previous visitor was still hanging in the bathroom Also had a minor insect issue in the room (Ants) Other than that mostly enjoyed my stay and would probably return again in the future

Sandra Corona

Disappointed to have to write this review Hotel was in an excellent location It was dated but looked like the decor was recently renovated so it was nice enough

Paid $500 for the room for 1 night & found 3 long strands of hair & sand in the bathtub Later found a used contact on the bathroom floor Clearly the bathroom was not cleaned Reported this to the front desk & was told the manager would speak to me I waited with my 2 young kids The manager walked past me but never spoke to me & instead told the front desk to discount the room $30 I paid full price for a clean room & that is not what I got The manager should’ve spoken to me & the discount given was so insignificant to be meaningful Would not stay here again & do not recommend

Kendall Totten

The hotel was clean, bed was comfortable, and the room was good sized, but I was honestly surprised at how dated and grungy it was for the price tag Our room smelled like cigarette smoke and felt a bit like a dungeon And while we were there for two days, Friday and Saturday, only one elevator worked

And various doors were locked in the stairwells so it was a major inconvenience to get downstairs and back up with breakfast Also the hotel decided that the weekend would be a good time to paint the front door and block off an entire entrance?? I don’t understand that at all Overall the experience wasn’t terrible and if I had paid $150 a night for the room it would have been fine But for $300? I will never be back

I absolutely love the owner Linda and her familyGreat people and she treated me like family Rooms were clean, there was an incident with another resident/guest, as promised Linda took care of it immediately

I never even had a chance to bring it to her attention since she was completely in tune taking care of me and the other guests If you want something simple inexpensive, safe and clean then come here Rooms are retro and charming I loved the owners Wonderful people

Time spent on Michigan’s west coast rarely disappoints and our recent trip to Stevensville was beyond delightful despite the inclement weather Through rain and a few patches of sunny sky, we discovered wonderful gems to explore Lydia’s diner in Bridgman is a must-eat-at and a stop next door at Peacock Rocks makes for a fantastic afternoon

Rain or shine, the crown jewel was our stay at Ray’s Motel Like a step back in time, Ray’s was a comfortable and inviting respite The history of this multi-generational family owned property, paired with stunning brickwork, grassy yard with fire pit and vintage decor certainly adds to the charm and comfort The service, however, goes beyond welcoming and far into outstanding territory Every ask was met warmly and with a smile We were checked on often, to ensure our satisfaction and check on any needs we might have and to answer all our questions about the area, without ever feeling hovered over; the perfect cadence We left feeling as though we’d stayed with good friends and looking forward to returning soon If you are in or around the area, Ray’s is a must-stay

Clean 1950s motel No amenities, bring your own

shampoo, hair dryer, etc Very thin towels Seal broken on toilet to my surprise, so pants got soaked! Very annoying Window treatments not very private plus bright lights from outside light up the place at night We had to hang towels and clothes up to sleep Creepy, but friendly guy sitting outside our room Oh, and efficient, yet noisy AC Cheapest place in town at $89/night Our choice, but definitely roughing it

My wife and I had a wonderful stay Wilfredo is so friendly and his breakfasts were fantastic The view from their lake front is phenomenal, and the beach & St

Joseph Lighthouse & piers are a very short distance by car If weather permits, the piers are great to walk out on Hard to beat the sunsets over Lake Michigan For sure plan on coming back!

Hands down one of the best B&B’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in Unfortunately, I was only able to stay here 1 night for my girlfriend’s birthday, but we made the most of it Wilfredo was so welcoming and exhibits first rate hospitality

He arranged and surprised my girlfriend with a dozen roses and even a birthday cake! They’ve renovated their B&B and it really does have that coastal vibe to it The views are stunning We didn’t feel like leaving the grounds to explore St Joseph because of how amazing everything was from the room, deck, fireplace, jacuzzi, everything! We will definitely be back!

The best hotel my family and i have stayed at in a long time The bathroom came with more than enough towels and wash cloths normally you get a limited supply but here had plenty available! The beds were extremely comfortable and clean The pillows felt like a cloud

Something for everyone to have a bit Like their waffle griddle perfect shape, not much wastageParking spots were limited and was a challenge if you take your car out midnight and coming back there is no spot left to parkSmoking zone isn’t well designated

My guest room was beautiful, spacious and clean! Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good However, the heater would knock loudly 6-7 times every 20 minutes during the night and woke me up each time I also had to ask the front desk to please have the room next door turn down their blaring music at 4am

Overall, my stay was nice, just didn’t get much sleep
