Breakfast selection was excellent Normally hotel breakfast is difficult for those of us with food allergies, but the Drury hotel offers so many options that I was able to have a great breakfast In the room, my two favorite things were the pillows (soft, but supportive) and an awesome shower

Love the angle of the shower head as well as the water pressure Indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub was enjoyed by many guests Next time, I’m bringing my suit! This hotel checks off all of my must-haves for a hotel and at an affordable rate

The entire staff was was friendly and welcoming The General Manager, Melanie, loves her job, and it was obvious that she loves the Hospitality Industry She made us feel so Welcome

The food was good, and we enjoyed talking with several people that we met We will definitely visit again We are locals who were getting a new roof on our home and decided to take a 2 day break while roofers were there Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Adrian Bee

We had a great stay Mattresses were actually comfortable and pillows were nice and fluffy We did not partake in the dinner and drinks provided but we did do the hot breakfast and we were quite impressed with the selection

Because the indoor pool was connected to the outdoor pool, the indoor pool was a bit chillyOverall, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend!

One of the most beautiful upscale hotels that I have ever stayed I needed a quiet get away, which was perfect However, the rooftop bar and the restaurant is great for a great time

So has the best of both worlds Dominique was so caring I was thankful for her hospitality All the front desk reps were great, even when i needed something in the middle of the night Valet had a staff issue, the lot is next to the hotel which made it easy for me to just get and park my car Overall it was an amazing experience Thankful I chose to stay there

Izz Noland

Pros: Very nice hotel in downtown Birmingham My wife and I went for a “stay-cation” and definitely worth it with The Yard restaurant on site for dinner and brunch Highly recommend the somewhat eclectic rooms, and nice views!Cons: The only downside is that some of the in room amenities were not 100%

One of the shower heads looked like it would fall off any minute, the shower gel was empty, and housekeeping came by an hour before checkout asking if we had checked out so she could clean We heard her in the hallway knocking on the other doors as well

The Place is Beautiful and has a very eclectic and high end feel Really Posh But, this is a place where it is Form/Design over function

Valet Staff is Awesome and very helpfulThe Front desk staff (evening and morning both) seemed a little put-out/annoyed by our arrival and questions, but the Valet team was helpfulThis is a place where form trumps functionThe rooms are tiny, halls are tiny (luggage carts barely fit through the halls or in the rooms) luggage carts are rickety and barely holding togetherThe Rooms are beautiful and eclectic (which is why we chose it), but this form has take precedent over function It is not meant for FamiliesThe Toilet Room door and shower doors are opaque green/yellow glass and do not seal, do not have fans, are hot as hell, and full conversations can be had, hands can be held while using both ie: lacks a sense of privacyThe toilet room might as well be called a sauna because it was as hot as onenot a place where you want to start sweating just walking in The listing was weird and again, not meant for function, but rather formForm/decor was nice, but it lacked some much function, It will not be a place we stay at next time we are in townAlso, the bar/restaurant is not open on Sunday, almost the entire downtown area is closed, so definitely do not recommend a Sunday stay in Birmingham Downtown

Thanks Rachel!Room had floor to ceiling windows, corner view & the bed was very comfortable Still has new hotel smell! The restaurant was very good, breakfast was excellent There’s also loads of dining options right outside (Highly recommend the Little Donkey Mexican just 2-doors down!)If only there was a pool…Highly recommend staying here!

Tokyo Blues Man

We had one of our nieces’ wedding rehearsal dinner there and many of her future in-laws and friends were staying thereAfter the rehearsal dinner, some of us decided to go down to the lobby on the first floor to sit and talkWe were not particularly being loud or obnoxious or anything

Just sitting at a hotel lounge and having conversations just like hotel guests would do Then the lady at the front desk yelled at us as if we were her students and she’s our teacher, saying that we were being too loud and that we need to quiet down because she can’t hear customers on the phoneWe didn’t say anything the first time and tried to talk little quieter Then, after about 10 minutes, the lady yelled at us again saying that we were being too loud Once again, we were not particularly being loud or obnoxious at all Just having some conversationsI just never had that kind of experience at any hotels anywhere – a front desk clerk telling (yelling at) guests to quiet down at the lobby I mean isn’t that what hotel lobby is for? For guests to sit and have conversations? Then, I tried to talk to her to see what is going on but she would not talk to me by saying that she’s too busy talking to her customers on the phoneI tried to politely ask her who’s the manager on duty is but she would not give me his/her name or the contact information – I guess I can look it up myselfBy then, we all decided that it’s not worth it and just went up to our roomsI asked her name but she kept on waving her finger while she’s talking to someone on the phone and walking away from me She was hiding her name tag with her arm so I couldn’t see her name eitherIt’s probably one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve ever had staying at a hotelI actually don’t want to give any stars at allThe management needs to train the employees better Where is the customer service We were not there to serve them It’s the other way aroundDo not stay at this hotel

Richard M

Had dinner at the restaurant off the lobby called Ironwood kitchen Food was just ok, nothing special but the cost was extremely high for the meal Three of us with no alcohol, ran $200

00 The service was adequate Save your money as there are so many better restaurants for dinner in the area Stop there at the bar for drinks as that did look inviting

We spent a night at this hotel with my child’s school for a class trip The hotel is attached to the mall so that’s was a great perk and the pool and hot tub was really nice Rooms were spacious and clean with a fridge and a decent size bathroom

What was really amazing about this hotel though was the service Everyone was so friendly and helpful, specifically Antoine Longmire who went above and beyond to make sure we got some breakfast, which the buffet was delicious, before heading out the morning we checked out Thank you so much and we appreciate you

shawnna mimms

My Overall experience here was okay The staff was friendly and did there best to accomdate esp because there was a lot going on I was there for a huge bowling tournament

The breakfast was okay but i found hair in my food and threw it out and went out for breakfast The rooms was okay I feel there should be microwaves in the rooms so you don’t have to go all the way downstairs to the lobby to heat up anything I feel there should be vending machines on each floor Also, there were no bathrobes in the room, no in room charger based on a list of what was supposed to be in the room The wifi went down in the middle of a zoom call and had to get it over ride to get back into my meeting The plus side was there was a mall which help to just let the time go by In all the hotel was okay I don’t think I would be staying there again To charge for parking i feel is not needed since your paying for breakfast and all meals and snacks if needed The location is okay but need a car to get around to get food if need be As mentioned it was okay

Kate E. Marshall

Pros: comfy beds, good sized rooms Cons: the fitness center is entirely inadequate Cardio machines need repair and/or replacement and more weights and machines are needed for this hotel to state that it has a gym on site (don’t expect much)

The rooms are not clean (lots of dust, baseboards haven’t been touched in months, smears on tables) The towels are raw and retain stains from the prior guests, and there’s an abundance of a lack of TLC around the building (shoddy repair work, deep cracks on the elevator floor, dirty floors in gym)

The people were very friendly I really liked the front desk staff However, housekeeping never came once when I was there all week, not even to empty the trash cans or give fresh towels

The gym was a joke, half the dumbbells were missing, there were zero mats, etc The room was just ok It’s my understanding there is renovation going on, so some of these issues may be resolved in the future, but if they are under renovation, they should have discounted their rates to reflect that

Robert Deguzman

My mini fridge didn’t work, had no cable in my room, and yes I brought it up to the front desk clerk, maintenance will take care of that as soon as they get in, guess what after spending a whole day training with my company and then we all went out to dinner pretty much didn’t get back to the hotel till about 10:00 maybe close to 11:00 and guess what everybody everything was still broke and my room wasn’t even made the towels that I used for the floor after taking a shower we’re still there The three stars I gave was because it is generally and nice looking hotel but when it comes to issues with hotel guests I do believe they should be a priority because a happy guess as a returning guest am I right I think I amOh and just in case the room that nobody came to fix is 232 but don’t take my word for it come experience it for yourself

Anna May

I will never stay at Aloft in Soho Square ever again My family used them for a hotel block for my wedding this past weekend The service was AWFUL!!! We did not receive the correct rooms we paid for, Kelsey (with marketing and heads up all communication) never returned a single phone call or email regarding booking the conference room space, the bartender did not even know how to make a vodka tonic, and if you speak with Shannon at the front desk she will probably make you cry with her impolite attitude, her eye rolls, and sassy remarks

I wouldn’t want anyone to experience the horrible service we received on the most exciting/special weekends of our lives

Top Notch establishment! I travel the country for work, so I have stayed in all sorts of hotels Candlewood is the best for a extended stay The price is never the lowest on the market and there’s a reason why

IHG hotels are always in good places, either pretty safe areas of that town if not in the safest areas so you don’t have to worry about your belongings or vehicles The services they offer you cant get other places The pantry always has home essentials and a verity of snacks and drinks as wellThat section was about Candlewood in general Now let me tell you about this hotel in Alabaster The staff is beyond nice, management is on point with questions or concerns Pets are allowed! The pantry has most basics you want, a snack or if you need Laundry detergent The rooms are not only clean, they look brand new! Since Covid lots of hotels no longer do cleaning services while the room is occupied This location does If you have questions, concerns or suggestions on the room the staff and management is always there to listenI highly recommend this location for your stay

Samantha Little

Not sure if they went thru a remodel/deep clean but this hotel was great! Did not experience issues in other reviews, and I’m very particular when it comes to hotels since I travel a lot Room was good size, clean, and had everything you needed for the kitchen The fridge freezer even makes ice so you don’t have to leave the room for that

Cool to see they had specialty appliances and games you can sign out I didn’t realize it was a pet friendly hotel until we left, the hotel doesn’t smell of pets or any musty smells Jasmin at the front desk was so nice and helpful as we had multiple people come in at different times, and she was on it!! Will stay here again!

We would return here, after staying 22 nights for business The staff were all friendly, the area is safe and convenient, the rooms are bigger than most, breakfast had hot items, fitness and pool were fully open, and prices were good Only downsides were no HBO like the channel guide listed (62 basic cable channels), and the carpet/furniture are more worn than they look in pictures, BUT rooms were clean and comfortable

These rooms were also more soundproof than a lot of other hotels Kimberly and Cheryl were standout employees, and management (Anup and Tamara) were great to work with

Sheila Poppell

Have stayed in this motel for the last 6 years, every year to hit Alabama splash adventure This year it wasn’t up to par, asked for adjoining rooms, didn’t get it, refrigerator was warm and stinky, no one came to clean the rooms while we were out When I checked on it, they said it was cleaned at request only

If I had been told that I would have requested it, no clean towels were left for us, plus the rates practically doubledetc Very disappointed in our trip this year

Truly a special and unique place! As a return guest, we are just as awestruck at the loving attention to detail as the first visit We have lived all over the world and found Hassinger Daniel’s mansion one of the most unique places we’ve found Sheila has curated a gorgeous mansion filled with exquisite antiques filling every room each telling a different story! We loved the Southern Belle room filled with beautiful antique gowns -see if you can find the hidden wedding gown

Truly a memorable experience sleeping in a living antique filled mansion And Shelia’s gracious hospitality is not to be missed at a lovely morning Breakfast family style together We will be back again!

Chase Stiles

Let’s start with some of the negatives I’ve read in the review section… I would personally say that most of those people that complained did not pay attention to the style of bed & breakfast this is when they booked or they just like tarnishing a locally owned business’ reputationThat may sound harsh but Sheila works very hard (you can clearly tell) to ensure that people there feel welcome and comfortable She can tell you so much history about the building, surrounding area and even the city

She is very sweet and accommodating No this is not like a Holiday Inn No this is not like an air b&b or even a regular b&b That’s what makes it a fun and unique experienceThe room was great just don’t expect every commodity a hotel room would have That is the exact reason you chose this place though right? That’s what makes it great It was unlike any other stay I’ve experienced The place as a whole is very secure and I felt very safe during our stay and coming and leaving the mansion The interior was also very refreshing and visually pleasing each time we returned from our adventures (dinner, concert, bar etc)The location is also centrally located in Birmingham and pretty convenient Plenty of restaurants and shops are walkable but our particular agenda had us driving 5-10 minutes each time which was still very convenient Parking is slightly tight in the available parking but I don’t think that it’s unreasonable Again, this is a very unique property There’s not a giant hotel parking lot waiting for you hereOverall, I find it hard to write anything negative here because I am happy to see a hard working person such as Sheila do so well at something so special; restoring and preserving a mansion ALONE (her & her husband started this project together but he has since passed) and doing a damn great job on top of that We loved our stay and will definitely return if we find ourselves in Birmingham againTHANK YOU FOR THE SERVICE YOU OFFER SHEILA!-you deserve a 50 rating on google not a 43-don’t listen to the people who just need something to complain about guys, this place is a cool & fun stay-it will not have the same setup as a typical hotel but is in my personal opinion just as comfortable and more enjoyable

Belle Paniagua-Novak

Such a beautiful place to stay! I stayed in the Peacock room last night and it was lovely The bed and sheets were so comfortable! The breakfast was DELICIOUS! This was my first time ever at a B&B and I loved every moment of it The wifi was very fast and easily accessible as well

I highly recommend a stay! Next time I need a break from home I’ll be checking in again 🙂

Embassy has a reputation of excellence I’ve stayed at many Embassy locations however, my most recent visit to Hoover, left me upset and disappointed! I was unable to check into my room upon arrival, and waited an additional hour and some change before I even saw a room The hallways were filthy, my room was less than clean

There was a stain on the sheets, a splatter of something on the dresser, stains that resembled vomit on the bathroom door, and a spider/cobwebs on the ceiling I was outraged! I was unable to immediately address the situation because I had to rush and get dressed for a function, for which I was 45 minutes late Did I mention my room was unavailable an hour after the original check-in time? Anyway, upon return from my engagement, I had to park in the adjoining parking garage The elevator leaving the garage was filthy and wreaked of urine I felt unsafe! It was accessible without a key card I tried my best to push past the short comings of this location, and consider the hotel may be understaffed I looked forward to a good night’s rest That was short lived! My bed was hard as rocks There was no bounce or give to the mattress To top it off, there was a miniature dog next door barking periodically through out the night It was HORRIBLE! At check out,I expressed my concerns with the attending clerk and he stated I should be compensated for my bad experience He gave me the manager’s card and said he would write a note explaining my concerns He also stated the manager would call me today to discuss how I should be compensated I still haven’t heard from the manager, even after I called and left a voicemail The best thing about my stay was the omelette! I will take my complaints to the next level since local management can’t be bothered I urge corporate to reevaluate the occupancy levels at their hotels If there are 200 rooms, and only 100 guests can be served effectively, do that and maintain a level of excellence until staffing is sufficient

Canda White

The bed felt like a cloud!! I was so obsessed with it we look to see the brand! The breakfast was AMAZING!! Pool was nice and heated I had steak for dinner my husband ask for a peace and I did not share it at all!! I truly enjoyed myself!! Nothing bad about my experience at this hotel it was exactly what I was looking for money well spent!

Jase Wrigley

Stan is the man!!! The rooms are clean, modern and very nice The lobby is great But the bar is the BOMB – great food, music and atmosphere and that’s where Stan is

Super personable, professional and friendly We had a great time during our stay in in large part because Stan was so great We’ll be back when we’re in Hoover again and look forward to to hanging out again with the man! Thank you Stan!

Here for one night There was a member of staff learning to make towel animals as we were checking in I made small talk with him and after we returned from dinner he put two in our room

Very good staff at this hotel The room was clean (had an odd smell in the room, but it wasn’t a bad smell -it might have been a cleaner or something)I would stay here again

Trudy Gage

Book for my son’s college orientation (go Blazers), the staff(housekeeping, front desk and security) are super friendly and helpful Our room was nice( coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge) The bath area can be a little tricky, if you are a lady and have to shave your legs, there is no where to prop your foot up(know your flexibility limits)

Restaurants are in the immediate area( We tried J Wing’s eatery, they were pretty darn good)

Demetris Butler

I’ve always stayed at this hotel since they opened for business, and never had any issues until now Over the past years I’ve noticed the decline of the upkeep of the rooms I stayed one night and woke up to bites on my my upper and lower arms

Upon inspecting the bed that morning it was bed bugs I was horrified that this hotel does not value the safety and cleanliness of rooms for their customers I hope they take their complaints serious and try to improve with the cleanliness of the rooms Breakfast was ok nothing to get excited about The area don’t bother me, convenient location for track meets I would not be staying at this hotel again, nor do I recommend!!

I had a wonderful one night stay at the Redmont All of the staff from valet, to front desk, to restaurant staff, were very friendly and helpful This it a downtown hotel and great for business travelers or a weekend getaway

There is a rooftop bar that is supposed to be amazing However it was closed due to the weather and short staffing I had drinks and appetizers in the restaurant Both were very good The room was not large but had a desk and king size bed which was very comfortable The Redmont is on the National Register of Historic Places It is also listed as the most haunted hotel in Alabama I did not see any ghosts Maybe next time…………

Danny Haralson

We didn’t stay here but we will! We’re from Bhm and next time we want a downtown evening, this will be the place Hotel is nice (Hilton Curio) with a long history but the staff was the best! We went (small group 10 +) stopped by roof top bar for a drink Staff opened doors, helped us figure out elevators (only 1 goes to penthouse/ bar) and served drinks

We travel often but think we’ve found a gem right here with service & pleasantness leading the way (how rare!)

Dana Aderhold

The staff at check in was less than helpful The staff at checkout was helpful though Room was dirty

$35 to valet was ridiculous when they are just moving the car to a public parking lot across the street that I could have parked in myself for 1/2 the price Hotel smelled old and musty Homeless people harassing me outside of the hotel I didn’t feel safe and will never be back

The biggest thing to know is no onsite parking without using their valet service We opted for free street parking and just had to walk which was only inconvenient when bringing our things to the hotel

The hotel itself is staffed with really nice folks The bartender was charismatic and we greatly enjoyed talking to him while enjoying drinks The room itself was very cozy and clean and we over all loved the stay I can’t give 5 stars because there’s not a mini fridge or a microwave in the room That made eating and storing left overs and stuff impossible I would give it 5 stars if those things were added though Perfectly located downtown we walked to a lot of great places with ease

I stayed for 2 weeks for work and I met I think almost everyone at the desk and valet services outside, couldn’t ask for a better group of people Lee, and Harley(I believe his name was) were outside most of time when I was in and out of the hotel, super nice and were able to tell me about the parking situation besides the valet Quentin was behind the bar and was able to recommend tons of cool things to do and makes absolutely incredible cocktails

It did not originally have a mini fridge in the room but I asked the front desk and they were able to send one Cleaning staff was great as wel, thank you so much

Very disappointed in my first stay at Kelly Front desk staff were eating food at the desk when I stopped by, had no change for the valet and in general appeared apathetic to guests I had a king room that smelled like mildew

Additionally the nightstand and desk had a liquid on it that I had to wipe off with a towel The linens felt like they had not been washed and gross! And lastly – $35 A DAY for valet – are they high? You don’t pay this in New York City This bones of hotel are stunning yet they need to fix a few basics in cleanliness, customer service and hotel guest basics

Due to being shorthanded we had a little wait for our rooms but Kevin at the front desk was wonderful! Apologized about the room not being ready and offered us a cool drink while we waited He got us into the room as soon as it was ready and it was a really nice one Despite being shorthanded it was still a very clean and comfortable hotel

Highly recommend!

I booked this hotel for my grandson who was at a wrestling tournament He said the hotel was ok

that it was comparable to a Comfort Inn We thought the breakfast was included like it typically is at a Holiday Inn but the cost for breakfast was $15 which was too steep for breakfast when you can go just about anywhere and get breakfast cheaper than that The cost of the room was already over $200 and to ask to pay for breakfast as well was I thought too much with the hotel not being anything special I will not recommend anyone staying here

This hotel does not reflect the clean standards expected from an IHG property Carpet was filthy, and bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned, upolstery was terribly stained and looked worn out Front desk often left unmanned, while clerk is outside on personal phone

I will not stay at this property again and will be more cautious when selecting IHG properties moving forward For years they have been my go to for the cleanliness and comfort, but in these times I cannot compromise on the cleanliness of my rooms while travelling

My stay last night was wonderful The room was extremely clean and the bed was super comfortable The ladies working the front desk were very friendly

Also the lady overseeing our breakfast was amazing and so helpful Location was perfect , only a slight detour from the interstate 100% recommend a stay with them Thanks for the fantastic stay!

The AC in the room made noises like a washing machine Asked for another room but couldn’t accommodate We then requested for maintenance but they didn’t come until the next day in which we had to request a second time

After all that, it still made noises Room smelled bad Pool wasn’t heated as specified on the website which was the reason why we chose that hotel

Great One

Frankly, I was disappointed I paid $149 a night for a room with 2 queen size beds and the room had a dank smell to it The second floor has a sign with arrows pointing to the ice machine, however; there isn’t an ice machine on the second floor

I had to go to the first floor for ice The refrigerator worked too well It froze all of the dinks and the baby food and there wasn’t an adjustment knob inside the unit The internet was hit and miss, more miss than hit for me I used the Quality Inn’s internet which can be captured from Holiday Express The biggest and most dangerous concern was the bathtub Considering the current state of obesity in America and especially in the southern states, the tub is small These tubs must have been built for children and adults 130 pounds and under I’m a bodybuilder on the small side of the sport and I was extremely uncomfortable I slipped getting into the tub because there isn’t any sticky grip adhesive on the tub floor and there is only one handrail positioned at the front of the tub and not the back where most normal people enter the shower I went to the fitness room and came back upstairs The fitness room consists of 3 pieces of cardio equipment There are no weight machines Lastly, the pool area I went downstairs to take a dip to cool off from the Alabama heat and walked into a sauna The water was warm and the room was muggy I figured it was a heated pool which would be great in the winter but during the Summer not so good I felt like a piece of chicken being fried for dinnerThe upside to my visit is the front desk staff and location The staff is accommodating and always present at the front desk, unlike other hotels I’ve visited This hotel has a Waffle House next door, although I don’t suggest you visit due to the lackadaisical attitude and behavior of the staff, A Cracker Barrel’s Country Store, Apple Bee’s restaurant, and the Seafood King restaurant which has some of the best fish, cajun fries, and fried mushrooms that you’d eat in that area The Super Walmart, Zaxby’s chicken, and other gas stations and restaurants are nearby as well The parking lot at the hotel is well lit and has a roaming security guard at night for safety There is coffee available throughout the day and night for coffee lovers and finally, there’s breakfast If you’ve never met Gina you will never be the same again after meeting her She runs the kitchen and dining room like a well-oiled machine Her southern hospitality is what I grew up experiencing and she made everyone she came in contact with feel at home and appreciated Gina was the best part of the visit for me and my family, and the Seafood King The food was good considering what she had to work with and it was fulfilling Overall, I rate the place a C+ because of the price and the tubs, otherwise, it would get a B- grade

Great service, very clean refreshment room We got a room with a nice view over the golf course A lady who did a check in for us told us that our room is not ready yet probably about 30 minutes or so

So we decided to wait for it As we were waiting about 45 minutes for the room that we were supposed to wait for but then she said we are getting a room downstairs instead Somehow she messed up and gave the room we were waiting for to someone else However, We are Thank you to another Gentleman who fixed it so we have a different room upstairs as we wanted it upstairs with fresh air He even gave us a nice compliment

We loved the breakfast so much we invited family with dietary restrictions to eat there with us Even the gluten, dairy, egg, and nut free relative was happy When we returned home my daughter wouldn’t eat the breakfast I made in the hopes that one of Chef Billy’s delicious omelettes would appear

We also loved the pool and the 4th of July celebrations that took place on the 3rd The only complaint was with housekeeping For some reason this luxury hotel has decided not to clean the rooms every day You have to request every day that you want the room cleaned Even though we went through the motions of requesting the room to be cleaned each day they would not always come That led to having to request more towels and shampoo The shampoo arrived, but not the towels We ended up borrowing towels from the pool area when needed I think the housekeeping issues may be due to staff shortages Overall we would return to Alabama to stay at this hotel It made our trip worthwhile

What a beautiful resort Definitely top 10 the best hotels I’ve been fortunate to stay at From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, the entire staff from the front desk, bartenders, concierge and maintenance crew was on point

I stayed 2 nights and got to say, I got the best rest I’ve had all year It may have been from all our meetings and training we did during the day But the moment my head hit those comfy pillows, I was out cold The beds are beyond comfy, with the right amount of support The room was amazing and very spacious The pool is amazing and definitely kid friendly The food is top tier as well All of these things are beyond important, especially since I work with one of the most classiest organizations on the planet 🌎, MERCEDES BENZ I attended this year’s EQ Experience and with out a doubt, my manufacturer rolled out the red carpet with our stay at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf ⛳️ course (The Castle)
