Good hotel for young people traveling with dogs If you are not that, you probably will not care for this place Elevator and second floor smelled of dogs, room didn’t have a clean feel or smell

Very dark dated rooms Loud guestsThey put a lot into first floor amenities aimed at the younger crowd I was there for one night for business There are better options for business travelers in downtown Columbia

The Aloft served as the host hotel for our recent family reunion It’s central location allowed for folks coming from five different states to not have to rent cars since it’s in walking distance to food and activities The Aloft team took outstanding care of our crew for four days – everything was perfect

Attentive, friendly staff and super facilities

TL Reynolds

Excellent room for low and reasonable price Everything exceeded expectations There is also artwork on the walls from local artists available for purchase

In the rooms, drybar is the sponsor of all bathroom soaps/loations Parking is around the corner and it is cheaper if you pay at the garage than hotel if not using valet services This was our first time staying at Aloft and we look forward to our next visit!

So I hate to write a bad review but I absolutely wouldn’t go back I was given my room and went up to unload and someone was already in the room I walked into someone else’s room

Shower had hair all over and the shower curtain had mold And I was only there to sleep was gone most of the time But front desk was left unattended and the employees that waited on me were friendly but didn’t seem to know exactly how to help Check out was fine the employee was kind and friendly

Heather Morris

We had a very poor experience here We checked in approximately about 6pm We go to our room to find it hasn’t been touched since the last guest had left

The bed wasn’t made, trash cans full, towels on the corner in the bathroom floor and the fridge was full of leftover alcohol andfood We called the front desk and we were told they would send up housekeeping immediately We asked to be switched to another room and were informed they are completely booked We waited thirty minutes and no one showed up We again called the front desk and they said they would page housekeeping A few minutes later they called to let us know they were switching our room I asked, once we went to the front desk, why did they tell us they were booked if there was a room available The employee explained that a guest decided to leave I don’t buy it, but it was clean and amazingly it was right next to our previous room I understand places are short staffed but just provide me with good customer service and be honestI have pics but they won’t post

Sharon Czeresko

First off, the entire staff was extremely helpful, hardworking and friendly If this review was solely based on staff I’d have no doubt given a 5 star review However, the property itself is in extreme need of some help

Just feels old, tired and begging for a deep Clean Stained carpeting and walls, trash in the halls and poor lighting Very little in the way of supplies (even the snack market was a bit sparse And the elevators (aside from being slow) were loud and scary Overall, the room itself was fairly clean, but still felt dark and tired Stayed here years ago and I guess I’d expected it to have been kept up Definitely convenient location and I felt safe inside and out of the building Just not what I would have expected from a product with the Hyatt name Likely wouldn’t choose this hotel next time I’m sorry, wish I had a better review

The Hampton in Downtown Columbia SC is in a great location with easy access to excellent restaurants and downtown amenities but we were very disappointed that the rooms were not in the shape they should have been The lampshade next to the bed looked like it was beat up and the outlets on that side of the bed didn’t work Come on people, these small things are an easy fix

Details always matter My lack of review of service was due to the fact that with “keyless” entry we did not come into contact with any hotel personnel

Matt Murphy

Parking is an absolute disaster Hopefully you have a backup plan! No valet, no one directing you to overflow parking, not sure there is one We did online check in and never spoke with a sole from the staff, seemed odd

Guess once they have your business, you’re stuck Breakfast was blah, cold “omelet”, cold sausage etc They bread we were able to make toast out of was the best thing going for this hotel minus the location Heard numerous guest complaints as we were walking in about overbooking and literally didn’t have a room for them even thought booked 4 month in advance I can’t warn you enough about parking for this hotel, hopefully your stay is midweek without an event ongoing near by

My posting of my statement is not in regards to my stay at Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown Historic District, because I have never stayed there But I do have concerns regarding the manager at this Hampton Inn Columbia-Downtown Historic District location I called front desk to hopefully see if possible they could reschedule my interview

The front desk clerk stated that the manager was upstairs in one of the rooms and that she was on her way to the front desk So I ask may I wait until the manager arrive to the front desk and speak to me The front desk clerk stated that the manager would return my phone call when she arrives So shortly afterwards the manager called me going on about the front desk said a she called knowing very well it was a he male whom called So I told the manager a few years ago I have had an interview at Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown Historic District just a few years prior to my scheduled interview on Friday, March 11, 2022 I kindly stated to the manager that I gave them consent to do a background check on me and that I checked upon my background check due to no contact after weeks which have gone by The manager at that time stated it was still pending but suggested and referred me to apply at Hilton Columbia Center because Hampton Inn must be very strict on whom they take on board for any position at their hotel on Gervais Street So the manger just began rudely speaking over me knowing I was not finished explaining to her on March 11, 2022 about the prior experience with Hampton Inn not hiring me due to petty criminal activity in my background which I still have yet to get rid of out of my background and off my record so my record would be clean as it has always been The manager in the midst of rudely talking over me over the phone then abruptly hung up on me I know it was intentionally because the manager at Hampton Inn Columbia Downtown Historic District did not even recall me to find out whom who hung up or if the phone abruptly ended the phone call When I called back to the number in my call log that the manager had just called and hung up on me from she did not answer but rather ignored my phone call So since the manager can be rude and disrespectful to a non guest whom have not stayed at Hampton What difference would it have made if I was a Hampton Inn guest? A rude manager at a hotel is a rude manager at a fast food restaurant, drug pharmacy store, etc

Great location, has restaurants within walking distance, Not bad at all Pool was small but not crowded, Room was clean and bed was comfy Breakfast was good they have waffle maker, cereal, juice, coffee, eggs and cheese and depending on the day they have either bacon, sausage, ham etc

lady that was serving the food was really nice and refilled the bread tray after I got my eggs and sausage, when i asked where the butter was she walked over and got it for me instead of just pointing to it She didint have to do that at all, but I did appreciate it and made sure everyone in my party left her a tip

Jj Money

Cost just as much as a Marriott when the rooms are outdated Very disappointed when I got to my room Total came out to be $144! That’s what I pay for a upscale hotel

The room looks old but at least it was clean… google advertises them having a bar also, this hotel doesn’t have a bar Spend your money on something actually worth $144

Jam Jam

Over all it was clean and pleasant but the breakfast is not worth the hassle personally i felt the pool was a bit small and definitely needed a good cleaning but the outside patio area around the pool was very nice and modern But the restaurants around this hotel are terrible i dont recommend eating at any of them except arbys cause every where else was super slow wait times or out of just about anything you woule ask for its almost as if no one wanted to do their jobs but for this location particularly i guess its go figure so id return but only if need be

My husband and I stayed a night here for the Elton John concert I was very impressed Felt like a newer building and had multiple entries that only opened with a room key so it felt safe

The staff were all very friendly and helpful The entire building felt clean and welcoming Our room was small but based on the photos I knew that going in The bed was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was clean and organized with towels set up and easy to get to I loved the dispensers for the soaps and shampoos The shower was beautiful and everything just felt nice The breakfast was so much better than expected You had your basics of yogurt, an apple, bagels and cereal, but they also had oatmeal, eggs, sausage, pancakes and English muffins Would absolutely come here again Easy check in and even easier check out Well lit parking lot and felt like a safe area over all Thank you so much!

This is the second Tru in which I have stayed Much like the other Tru, it is decorated in a modern minimalist style Rooms are very small but clean and with comfortable beds

The lobby has a billiards table and an array of little nooks for reading or doing work Staff was very friendly and the hotel is located near the zoo and Saluda Riverwalk Only reason it is not 5 stars is the room size This is Columbia, SC, not Manhattan, there is no reason a modern hotel room should be this small

First, this is booked by my husband’s company and hopefully this will be the last time we are here because the first three weeks were not greatconsidering the paper thin walls and constant noise along with the neighbors getting high but this time is awful The second room tonight and the place is just ghetto They half cleaned and the beds are lumpy & made without a care looking all used and wrinkled

I’m exhausted after traveling all day so changing from one room to another that’s just as bad- with no cart to carry any of our luggage- is just entirely unacceptable We will not recommend this place and will let the company know never to book here againThe breakfast is awful with no variety and the coffee is lukewarm at best by 6am

Keioshya Brown

When I checked in the agent was abrupt and seemed distracted from her taskshanded me the keys and didn’t say what room I was assigned to or anything of the sort The auditor however went above and beyond to provide whatever the guest’s may have needed

She always greeted me with a smile and let me know I was welcome there I was alone so this was very much appreciated The room was very clean and trendy while the TV was a smart TV that allowed you to log in to streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu Will definitely stay again

Jason Zheng

The house keeping workers are unprofessional, it’s under quality of Marriott brand management I placed the “Do Not Disturb” tag on the door handle during my stay, the housing keeping person till knocked on the door to check if I was going to checkout, my sweet dream was broken at 8am, I told them that I would check out at noon since I had been woken up The worst part was that envelope I told them to not bother me until my check out time, they still knocked on the door to rush me checkout at 11:15, this is unacceptable

I will never come back to this place again, and continue to post low quality review on internet for other guests caution, not being victims of worst hospitality experience

This hotel feels older than it should From the old swipe room keys to the feel of the room the hotel needs a refresh The curtains for the window didn’t really block much light, leading us to dig out our eye masks for the first time on the trip

The elevator seemed to operate on its own time, so after the first use we just used the stairs The side entry door was often situated so it wasn’t secure, meaning anyone could walk into the side entry The bathroom needed a refresh, and the TV system was a leftover from the early 2000’sIt isn’t all bad The location is pretty good to experience the vibe of The Vista and the Publix supermarket is a very short walk The pool was fine, though an old chlorine pool and the breakfast was descent for the post-pandemic Marriott properties All in all, I will skip this hotel the next time I return to Columbia

Katie W

We made the reservation based on reviews, availability of a king with an extra bed, and location To sum up my experience on the evening we arrived: I wish I could just go homeThe bed wasn’t very comfortable

The conditioner and body wash bottles were empty, and I didn’t realize it until I was already showering The air conditioner was deafeningly loud, and it was right by the bed I wish there had been a ceiling fan or something for air flow because we just couldn’t sleep with the a/c runningTo be fair, I’ll give a few pros: Decent scent in room The presence of a sofa bed and trundle bed in the room with a king, too Not a common feature! The shower had good water pressure The air conditioner worked, it was just insanely loudAll in all, unfortunately no, I wouldn’t stay here again

Michelle Roberson

Bait and switch I booked a king bed a month in advance I arrived, checked in, and my room had 2 double beds

I complained, and was told they are queens and that’s all they have Major concert in town and everyone is booked up I have a queen at home, these are not queens My husband and I woke all night long I would have been better off at a motel I travel for work and will not be booking Marriot again

I loved the location, it was close to anything you’d want or need as far as dining and shopping The lobby and public areas seems to be renovated which is great I knew the hotel was older by the one functioning elevator

We had a two queen beds room It was spacious! The carpet and the bathroom were super dated Overall, nice experience 👌🏾

joey desilets

The location was conveniently located next to some nice restaurants and stores The staff was very nice The food was excellent

The mini store in lobby was way over priced The hallways were hot and have this mildew smell The room itself was decent The whirlpool tub was nice being a tall guy it’s not easy to find a tub to take a bath in The shower could use some help water temp is awesome but that shower head sucks no pressure and it sprayed everywhere except down The bathroom gets hot very quick with door shut due to no working vents Toilet had some flushing issues Electronic door lock stopped working properly The room had some nasty stain brown stain on the floor that was sticky to touch after stepping on it Pillows were very nice Bed was horrible felt every spring in the mattress my wife having back problems this bed definitely didn’t help Woke up so sore and unrested Found cigar clippings all over the floor next to the bed

G Marie

Bad experience from the beginning Drove 3 hours to stay one night, as my son has a tournament for Taekwondo, and we couldn’t even park b/c there was an event at the hotel leaving NO parking for guests The receptionist ignored me for at least 2 minutes after I arrived at the desk

There were NO other guests at the desk, and she appeared to be on her phone She knew there was no parking, but was basically like “I have no solution for you” Rooms smaller than expected, stains all over the floor, and the bed’s sheet have holes All the money we pay, they should be able to afford new sheets! I should have brought my own sheets! Probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again Too expensive for poor service, no parking, and dingy room Disappointed!

I can’t say enough about how great and friendly the staff here was; everyone from the front desk folks, to the shuttle drivers, the maintenance staff, bartenders and room cleaning folks were just spectacular! 👌 The room was great, wish the bathroom and tub could have been a little bigger but overall we are very happy with our stay The location is great and even better with the free hotel shuttle We would love to stay here again mostly due to the great staff 🙌

Carrie Sease

Ehh Stay somewhere else, it’s fine and it did the job, but the rooms are outdated, they were painting half of the rooms on the floor so it wasn’t very crowded We were driving halfway so just stayed one night

It’s in a decent location to campus but I’ve stayed in much nicer hotel rooms that have more amenities and are cleaner The shower had the shampoo/conditioner/body wash mounted on the wall so it wasn’t nice little individual bottles to use Yuck The garage is TIGHT and super short clearance Just go somewhere newer

mike williams

The best location available in Columbia if you wish to be near the railroad tracks and the main road i was there with a team for a USC event as well as a couple other teams, we were lucky only had to wait 45 minutes for our rooms, one of the other teams didn’t get there’s until late that evening One of the staff told me that it was hard to clean rooms without elevators working, evidently 2 days before both elevators were out of service so they did there best by using the stairs

It was fun getting to meet all the other guests as we waited a minimum of 5 minutes to catch the one elevator as the other one was still out of service, yet the front desk told several guests that it was working, maybe it was a invisible elevator I was told that the hotel has a new owner which explains a lot because we have stayed here many times over the years and it has always been very okexcept for the constant noise from the street and the train horn at 3 and 5 am in the morning If you are fortunate to get a room facing the pool then it’s not too bad Breakfast was well not good, runny eggs, pink bacon, and lots of fiber “ie coffee grounds” in the coffee This is by far and away the noisiest hotel in town, albeit it is the closest to a lot of areas on campus, so if you want, you won’t have to walk far, but you won’t get much sleep Only hotel I have been in that actually has a white noise machine next to the bed That should be a red flag right there, Here’s your signOh well we aren’t going to use them anymore so water under the bridge Just thought I’d let you know new owner is way worse than old owner One positive was my room was nice and comfy, just wasn’t able to use it for sleeping, but it was great for everything else

Weeks ago I made a reservation at this hotel for my daughter to travel to Columbia to help my other daughter move out of her dorm at the Univ of SC (check in on April 30) When my daughter arrived at the hotel to check in and presented the lady at the desk with a copy of the reservation/confirmation I had printed out for her, the hotel staff said they couldn’t accept the reservation since she was not me

even though she has the same last name and had a printed copy of the reservationSo they did agree to cancel the reservation that I had made (room charge $137 per night) and charged my daughter the full room rate of $239 to stay that night So they didn’t trust that my daughter was who she said she was and wouldn’t let her use the reservation I had made, but they did trust her enough to cancel my reservation without my permissionMy daughter did reach me about an hour later to notify me of this I called the front desk at the hotel and asked if they could at least offer her the same rate from my reservation She told me she would notify the manager on the following Monday and thought something could be done She took my phone number but, of course, the manager didn’t contact me I called this morning and spoke to someone at the front desk, and she said there was nothing they could doI’ve been staying at Marriott hotels for 30 years now with my work and for personal use I’ve been a rewards member all those years This is the first time in all those years that Marriott has stuck it to me I would advise ALL people traveling to Columbia to avoid this hotel If you must stay at a Marriott chain hotel, then stay away from this one As for me, I think I will look for a Hilton hotel or another chain next time

Ju-Fyah 09

This was my first day at this location Columbia The staff there was very professional and friendly I have seen all the bad reviews and it’s only based on the location of the hotel which is next to the interstate and the fact that there was no outside pool

I truly love the design and the spacious rooms that they have I had no trouble resting and truly enjoyed my stay there

Barbara Sutton

The Bathroom in our room was dirty, the baseboards and floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, there was hair in the shower When we checked in, my daughter needed to use the restroom, and we went into the public Women’s Restroom on the first floor One of the toilets had overflowed with feces, and the other had feces in it

The smell in the Bathroom was horrendous It had been like that for a while When I told the ladies at the front desk, they seemed put out and didn’t seem to care At Breakfast, the first day, the milk was all spoiled The second day no one serviced the hotel room to take out the trash, refresh with clean towels or make the beds We were out of toilet paper and needed clean towels; when I asked at the front desk, they said they didn’t offer cleaning services for extended stays I asked for toilet paper and towels, and again they were put out and rude We will never stay at this hotel again

I’ve stayed here several times while in town on business The staff is always friendly and competent The beds are soft and comfortable

However, the beds are king sized, even when some of the rooms are really too small to accommodate a bed that size In a couple of rooms, the bed was so large that I couldn’t pull the desk chair outThe refurbished building is beautiful, the basement Starbucks is convenient, and the rooftop bar is a very cool experience But the building shows it’s age in some of the fixtures

Melissa

Outstanding historic building formerly a bank Lobby has the original bank vault which leads to a cozy bar Beautiful corner suite with views of downtown

Room was very clean, staff were friendly and ready to make recommendations for the area Hotel has an amazing I got rooftop bar with amazing city views Tons of great restaurants all within walking distance, very clean and safe downtown area If you manage to travel on the weekend they have a street market every Saturday every week of the year with lots of art vendors, food truck, fresh flowers and musicians There is valet parking that cost $24 a night plus tips No restaurant on premises, loved our stay and definitely will stay again!

jasonbwell

I loved the architecture of the building It really has an old school vibe Location is awesome

My only issue is parking They do offer valet Amazing view from the rooftop bar but no food There are tons of options within walking distance The Starbucks below it is the coolest I have seen Kind of has a speakeasy vibe The elevator will take you straight to it It’s unique and for that I say it’s worth a stay I will be back

In my two day stay at the hotel, I could definitely tell she works hard and aims to please Customer service skills at its best I travel quite a bit and I rarely write reviews but this one was certainly warranted

We were recently guests and 5 stars isn’t enough

We arrived well after 10pm after driving all the way from Columbus Ohio and not stopping and the front desk made sure we had something to eat when we got there and the staff here is OUTSTANDING! They were so kind and offered the best service I’ve ever had from a hotel Room was fabulous and I can’t stay enough about this place!! Worth the money Every penny! They even let us park the 26 ft U haul right in front of the hotel because I was worried someone breaking in the truck Hope to be able to stay here again!

I surprised my husband for his birthday with an overnight stay at “The Trundle Hotel” and it was exceptional in every way Upon entering the Hotel you are greeted by “Shay” not a ray of sunshine; but the sun itself! What ever other assistance is needed; your friendly all a round “Mr Fix it” John, is there to help you too

These two young people are truly “assets” to the establishment We also had the pleasure of meeting the Owners and found them to treat every guest with respect and wanting to make sure your stay is everything you want it to be Don’t be fooled by the exterior, the enterior decor is so warm and inviting No two rooms are alike Please come inyou will not be disappointed! We cannot wait to make our next reservation

My favorite Hilton Hotel as a business traveler This hotel is older but has been well cared for and updated The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and nice furniture

The staff is always very accommodating and the parking is the best for a downtown urban hotel as it’s a secure garage attached to the lobby so if it’s raining you won’t get wetIt’s less then a 5 minute walk from parking garage to your roomRuth Chris is lobby is good and hotel is less then one block from many other restaurants

Our stay was enjoyable! The room was clean, and the staff was polite and friendly Dinner at the restaurant downstairs (Ruth Chris) was great The only reason for not giving a 5 star rating was because the mattress slips on the beds wooden platform and the pillows could be more comfortable

Otherwise a great hotel, very clean, very nice!

I said Hilton hotels All the time but usually lower end ones like Hampton inn when I’m traveling or going to see friends This Hilton Columbia center was fantastic Very clean very nice rooms and great amenities

But most importantly the front desk the people there were great the service was so good The person who helped check me in the first day saw me on the third day when I was leaving and remembered me and mentioned that I was able to get free breakfast since I was a diamond member Just the fact that she remembered me I thought was very surprising That’s what I call great service

The only disappointing part of my stay was parking They do offer parking at a premium which is in a parking garage half a block away Virtually impossible to find street parking at the hotel

Otherwise the experience was great Quick check in and out Room seemed to be clean and modern Shower had great water pressure The king bed was comfortable The restaurant was closed on the weekend and the bar is small yet quaintmake sure you shop prices and/or join their rewards program for the best rates

Honestly, this is the cleanest and most comfortable hotel room I’ve ever stayed in Every staff member, all the way up to the General Manager was professional, friendly and down to earth You can tell they take pride in what they do

To even see the General Manager helping her team members at the front desk was amazing! Their decor is different and classy The beds are so comfortable that after a good night’s sleep I didn’t wake up hurting all over from an uncomfortable much to firm bed I will definitely be staying at this hotel for my future stays and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area

Location: 10/10! You can walk everywhere!Room: We got a double queen premier with a tub and it was perfect It feels bigger than a King room!Service: Amazing The front desk staff are so helpful and nice

We had a great 2- night stay here!Only problem: no lids on the toilets so if you don’t want fecal spray on your towels, move them to the closetBeds + pillows: soft and comfy!Oh and guess where the Temptations stayed while they were in town? Yup! HERE! That was a pretty cool surprise 😊

I always like coming to stay here, the staff helpful and greet you with a smile The rooms are clean and comfortable The hotel bar has great selections, I miss social night and hope that will return

The pool is awesome wish they had a indoor pool as well William was very helpful and didn’t complain no matter how many times we needed him

Beatrice Hatcher

Room was not as expected and you had to pay for breakfast The lobby area is beautiful, but for the rest of the hotel, it could be a lot better considering how much you pay to stay there It was something that could have been cleaned, like the dresser, other than that it was okay

For me it’s minor things that the facility needs to address and they would be okay

John Washington

The room was very large with a living area and nice bedroom Some of the lighting in the living area and bathroom did not workThe remote control in the living area was missing a battery and did not work

They do have an on-site laundry, which is free, but you will have to purchase detergent and dryer sheets at the front desk

Timothy is the General Manager at this location, and all I can share as a platinum elite member is how are you the general manager? Our vehicle was towed from the property after parking against a retaining wall where the sign specifically states “Parking Holiday Inn Express and suites by IHG hotels Parking must be paid at front desk Towing Enforced” We placed our tag in our vehicle on dash board

His answer to me was sorry in the contract it states in the fine print vehicle must be legally parked in a space While I understand fine print I must say your training of your employee’s to call one time at 1:15am to inform us you are going to tow our vehicle is absurd Speaking with Timothy on the phone was just as difficult, “nothing I can do for you” he should have read the fine print I began to get frustrated and shared that this was a customer service request and that something should be done, whether that be you pay for the towing, or the room, or any form of acknowledgment we could have done better to try and prevent you from paying $36264 for being towed during the 9hrs you would be on our property What a terrible experience, would never return to this site or interact with Timothy again I am amazed that this is acceptable by the leadership of Holiday Inn, and IHG truly embarrassing

Jeff Donavant

Friendly, professional and helpful staff! Fairly new modern facility Everytime I came in or out I saw an employee cleaning, maintaining or restocking an area of the hotel Quiet location within a few blocks walking distance of downtown Columbia and what it has to offer

Police HQ next door Free parking on premises with a parking deck across the street if the lot is full Outdoor pool as well Will stay here on my next visit to Columbia!

Brian Palmer

The management at this facility are a bunch of thieves I stayed here for 3 nights and I was charged for two separate bookings for the 3 days My sister was charged twice for one night of parking

My mother was charged twice for parking as well They won’t refund our money and are being very unhelpful I can say I will never be staying at any holiday inns again It was a bad experience My room also never got serviced and they’re weren’t enough towels
