We love staying in rooms with a jacuzzi tub in room Not only did Blue Heron Inn have that, but it also had so much more The view from our room was absolutely stunning! There is anything you could possibly want close

The staff were super friendly, and honestly it felt like being at home Rooms were clean and the entire place just makes you feel comfortable I would not hesitate to stay here again next time in town In fact we have already started talking about a return visit

Melissa Womack

We did our reservation online, after I got a message asking what time we would be arriving When we arrived the room was read and the staff was very friendly Over all the room was clean, cloud use a good dusting would not pass a white glove for sure but as far as bed sheets, bathroom and floors it was clean

We had a suite with a lake view The jet tub was amazing personally my favorite after a 8 hour road trip It was very relaxing and cleanThe view from the room balcony was relaxing The only down fall was there were a lot of spiders on the balcony Besides that it was nice to sit outside and relax When it comes to sleeping the bed was soft I loved it but my fiancé didn’t But he still slept good Very cute and not a lot of noise at night Breakfast was good and check is at noon We come up often to La porte and have stayed at almost all the hotels in the area and by far this is the best one We are planning to come up in Dec and already booked a room hereI will note it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the newer hotels across the street but for us it was well worth the money

Emily Gosselin

We stayed here after visiting Indiana Dunes National Park and we are so happy we didThe Inn has an older feel to it and as others have mentioned, it could use an update in areas but overall the Blue Heron is incredibly clean and everyone on staff is so friendly that you feel like you are at home We have never stayed at a place where our dogs were so welcomed and that made a world of difference to us

Also, the big perk is that it’s right on the water and if you want to take a walk to get some fresh air, there’s a nice little park where you can sit by the water right next door and watch the sun set or you can cross the street, walk a block and take the Chessie trailThere’s a distinct unique charm to this place and my husband and I hope to visit it again soon

This hotel was disgusting upon arrival The toilet seat had spots of what looked to be urine on it The shower had black hair on the floor

The comforter also had hair under the folded area up top I was instantly turned off and felt like I shouldn’t even let my 10 month old be on the floor There was rust debris on the side tables of the bed and the TV stand everything in the room was old and dated I was very dissatisfied and disappointed I was glad that we were only staying one night I would have not been able to be comfortable here any longer than that

Loni Flowers

This was a very nice place to stay Rooms where clean, smelled nice No complaints there

I loved that they had lemon water at the entrance! The continental breakfast was so good! I was pleasantly surprised! The lady that was working the breakfast was so nice and pleasant They had WAFFLES! We will be staying there again The price was a bit much, but I think it was because of an event that was going on I’m hoping it comes down A very nice place to stay! I recommend 👌

Mike Weaver

I had to stay here for a week for a class, and on the second night I backed my truck up to far and got stuck in the trench I really appreciate how above and beyond the Manger went to help me out and made sure I was able to continue my school

The rooms are fantastic The food was amazing, and all of the staff members were very hospitable and polite I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling, as I will be only using this hotel in the future

Decided to leave for Chicago a day earlier then we planned We came across this place and decided to book it The room was amazing

Lots of space and just had a homey feeling to it Breakfast was simple but the dinning area was cute Would of loved to stay longer to do some more exploring but we will do that another time We will definitely be back

Carmen’s Critiques

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the location of this lodge It is very romantic dark lighting in the lounge and the cavatappi pasta sauce was literally the best sauce I have ever had We came on a Monday night and reservations were not needed, but we did hear that the lodge was fully booked

It is a beautiful property with loads of amenities and the lodge itself is chic rustic!

alexis harris

The room was spacious and the bed was amazing! There was a little game nook on our floor It was a very cozy place There was a ceiling leak in the hall with a bucket beneath it

that wasn’t awesome The drive up the the lodge was over the river and through the woods The ponds/lake in the woods around the lodge looked murky, but we did also visit in an April that was still basically winter All in all, a nice stay

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and we stayed in the Paris cabin We stayed three nights and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had The staff were all great

They were very professional and they took great care of us It was our first time there, but it will not be our last The spa tub was great, the breakfast basket was delightful We really enjoyed the butler box and the goodies that were placed in there The scenery was so peaceful, I didn’t want to leave I really love how spaced out the cabins were You couldn’t hear any of the neighboring cabins I love the way the cabins overlooked the lake This place is really a five star in my opinion

Kimberly Washington

What else can u say but absolutely serenity!! Waking up every morning to that beautiful swan in the lake The sun shining on the water while sitting outside drinking coffee The rooms were clean an perfect

They took care of any needs that needed to be taken care of They also provide everything you would need fishing poles, bikes, snacks, an breakfast You guys should offer a yearly membership so we can come all year!! You guys are perfect as well as they stay❤️❤️

Rhonda Marshall

Our third visit and counting This place screams romance The entire experience was worth every penny

My Husband and I make it a point to do something every so often that allows us to reconnect that doesn’t break the bank and “Serenity Springs” is always one of our options Their website photos are true to life, the staff is very accommodating and friendly and their attention to detail is impressive Even our visit during this pandemic was just as enjoyable It’s not a visit, it’s an experience If you are looking for quality time away from home, Serenity Springs is for you

Great customer service Got a room for my kids’ birthday (10 years old) so he and his bro could swim The room was spacious, clean and smelled great

The breakfast was awesome and when a worker heard we were going to our room with it they brought a tray The elevator was a little sketchy (very squeaky and slow) and the pool is salt water- which I didn’t know- but all in all we had a great night

Courtney Elizabeth

Our stay/room was great, breakfast was good, not a ton to choose from but definitely filled us up!However, you should choose your staff a little more wisely, the ones who don’t normally deal with people, are amazing, nice, friendly, and seem to really care The one at the front desk seemed to be the opposite, rude, had an attitude and didn’t seem to careOverall, I’d stay again but I’d hope there was someone else at the front desk! 🙂

Sandy Johnson

I have stayed here a couple of times and this is the only hotel I oversleep because I’m so comfortable Bed and pillows just right, and the room is cozy and just perfect This is the only hotel I will stay for business or personal when I’m in the Michigan City, Valparaiso and Porter area and surrounding cities

Thank you for having an awesome staff!

Delicious and inviting My friend from Texas wanted authentic Italian, so off we went The food was outstanding and generous

Farina’s is one of the few restaurants that appears fully staffed While I would consider it fine dining, most manners of dress would be appropriate (drawing the line at beach wear) We live in the neighborhood and walked, but parking can be a bit tricky I’m sure carpooling would be appreciated The restaurant is in a quiet little neighborhood, so please be respectful That being said, they have a large wonderful patio that is hopping in the summer but not obnoxious to the neighbors

Tim Losie

It’s our second time here, and we loved it Service was outstanding We had a very early reservation, so it was not crowded

We saw two tables set up nearby with 14 place settings each, so we were glad we got there early! The atmosphere is outstanding We dined inside, though it would have been a nice early evening meal al fresco By the time we left, it was quite energetic insideAs for the food, what can I say? Everything was delicious This place isn’t cheap, and the portions make up for it! Lots of leftovers! And on the way out, you know what? My wife made another reservation for next week with us and more of the family! Can’t wait to go back!

Jen Knox

I am surprised that this is rated as a 2 star hotel, I feel it should at least be a 3 or a 35 (sorry not quite 4) Jordan was great at check in, super friendly and attentive which was nice at 11 o’clock at night when I finally arrived

King room was very spacious, clean and comfortable Bathroom was clean, plenty of towels and wahoo for water pressure!! I can’t comment on the breakfast because I was gone before the 7a start time on a Sunday There is also ample room for parking which is a huge plus The only con is that it is a few miles off the I80, but don’t let that stop you it is worth the few mile drive I would stay here again in a heart beat if I am in the area

Coffee Bean

This was the only hotel I could find availability for at nearly 2 am and now I see why For 9 hours in the room it was over $300 The front desk clerk gave me no receipt or paper to sign

She told me it was non smoking and had me sign for my credit card About 15 minutes after leaving I got another $250 charge on my card! Upon calling the hotel, the front desk clerk got super snippy and told me it’s because I had a cat in the room I was never told no pets nor was I given any paper to sign saying I would be charged like every other hotel I had stopped at! All she had to say in response was “there are signs everywhere”, then why didn’t I see any? Why wasn’t it pointed out to me or brought up? The room was nice but not worth nearly 600 dollars for the short amount of time I stayed there It was a rip off and I would rather sleep in my car than stay at this hotel ever again

Jackie Brooks

The service was not great The front desk staff kicked us out of the lobby (rudely) and pool earlier than posted signs The rooms are different sizes and they put my family of 4 in one of the smallest rooms and other families of two that we were there with were in larger rooms

The king rooms do not include a pullout couch There is a lounge chair that is hard as a rock in those rooms so it wasn’t comfortable to sleep on We were actually lucky enough to get the last rollaway bed even though it barely fit in our room (We hit our leg on it trying to get out of the other bed since there was no room) They also ran out of bathroom towels I would not recommend this hotel

Decided to return for our anniversary after a couple years and still find it a very nice place to stay Staff is very accommodating and helpful Would have been 5 stars but for a plumbing issue related to renovations

the only issue we’ve ever had since staying here over the years Management addressed things to our satisfaction and we would not hesitate to return

Linda Oberg

We stayed this last Sunday and Monday night The rooms were very clean Each room has a patio or balcony facing the marina

We ate breakfast and dinner there During the week the eat in area of restaurant is closed, but you can order from the menu for pick up and eat in your room The food was very good Less than a mile walk to the beach and to restaurants I do think the rooms are a little over-priced, but you are paying for the view & location

Kristin Kerrigan

This resort salvaged a birthday trip & made it an absolutely wonderful 3 day stay! From being able to get a room day of arrival, to the beautiful marina views this resort did not disappointThe coffee shop & restaurant on the property were convenient & delicious The pool was a wonderful accommodation that we used everyday (towels provided)

This resort is about a 15 minute walk to the main strip for food, drinks & entertainment It is also a short drive from some of the main wineries/breweries in MichiganI am looking forward to coming back again soon!

Would stay again! Staff makes all the difference! The gal who checked us in was NOT accommodating at all Bordered on rude The next front desk gal who came in was amazing and bent over backward to accommodate

It was our first stay, and based on first desk clerk, probably would of gone elsewhere next trip, but thankfully, because of next gal who took over, we will def stay again Hotel clean, room great (only complaint was our room had no fridge or microwave which we counted on) pool/hot tub clean Breakfast nice too! Good location

Stayed here last summer About 20 minutes away I realized I had somehow forgotten my ID

Immediately panicked and called the hotel and they were able to work with me getting a clear photo and using that when checking inClean rooms, super close to downtown new buffalo and the highway, free breakfast, and TV with many channels All around perfect for a weekend trip!

Ryan Petersen

Staff was awesome Pool/hot tub are decent The woman who ran the breakfast area on the 4th of July 2022 was freaking awesome!! She provided great service beyond what you’d expect at this facility

Rooms are very outdated, haven’t changed since this location was built TVs and remote are frustratingly slow It was clean though

We will stay here again! The staff were very friendly and helpful, happy to be there The rooms and the building seemed clean, however the bathrooms could have used more attention Even though Michigan City has had its problems with catalytic converters thefts, we felt safe at this location

The parking lot was well lit and laid out nicely Wide variety of breakfast items Overall we were very happy!

MONEY HUNGRY!!!!! I stayed here before and it was lovely This time I booked around 3am and received my COIVD test back and it was positive! I called the hotel a few hours later to change my dates or reschedule they said I would still pay the price for one night! They rather me come and risk getting other guests sick than to cancel without penalty! They will never get my business again
