I’d like to start out buy saying we are IHG reward members We usually stay at IHG reward hotels mostly Holiday Inns I would strongly recommend bypassing this one

We stayed in room 320 When we woke up the bathroom was full of water all over the floor We used spare towels to clean it up so we could get ready to leave that morning My wife left her high end hair straightener to cool by the A/C when we left at 1030 or so that morning We were on our way to drop our son off at the Coast Guard Academy in New London When she realized she left it about 1050am she called the hotel The lady put her on hold for 10 min or so and came back and said they found it and it will be at the front desk She informed them we will be back at 4:00pm to pick it up When we got there, all of a sudden they can’t find it We all know what happened We are in the process of using all our reward points and changing hotels chains I would stay clear of this one!

We were traveling and had to pick a hotel for the night We often stay at Holiday Inns and have been quite satisfied Unfortunately, we were not very satisfied here

The hall carpets were stained and the carpet in the room was very worn There was a bubbling in the ceiling, a bubbling of the wallpaper in one area while it was tearing off in another area The exhaust vent was completely dirty in the bathroom as well as the ceiling tiles not aligned properly We went to iron our clothes in the morning and the ironing board was broken that it couldn’t be used We couldn’t have a coffee in the room as it was not plugged in and we would have needed to crawl under a table and sort through cords which we were not willing to do since the carpet was dirtyIn the breakfast area the wallpaper had huge bubbles where it was coming off the wall Some tracks were coming off the ceiling as well as mising valances on the shades I do not expect much from a hotel breakfast, however, it was mediocre at bestThe outside of the building looked fine and in good shape and is in a good location to shops and restaurantsThe staff were very friendlyWe just don’t feel this Holiday Inn lived up to the standards we would expect from this hotel chain

We have stayed in several IHG’s since joining their loyalty program This hotel leaves a lot to be desiredPositiveAngela is amazing at housekeepingTo be improvedBreakfast can not leave the breakfast area

Why not? Why would we want every sitting in one room when we still have an active virus? The pool room was very very hot, over 90 degrees, and the towels where no more than a hand towelThe team here, complained a lot about each other Most mornings I would sit in the business center, across from the front desk, and each day they had several complaints about other members of their team, everydayWe stayed here for the 2 bedroom rooms, but they had nothing in the kitchenette No plates, bowls, silverware, cups, etcPlease stay at the Hilton Homewood suites just up the road if you need a 2 roomPlease just treat the guests with respect, don’t make them wait 10 minutes while you finish a personal call in the back room

I have stayed at this location in the past, but never again Our room was dirty and needs maintenance and updates The toilet seat was falling off, the seat itself was dirty,, with what appeared as either dry stool, or dry blood, I cleaned it myself when we got in the room

The couch cushions are torn The king size bed is hard as a rock, we left in pain The “sofa bed” is a joke that is not a bed it is a flimsy pad on top of a metal frame that is not usable at all I requested bedding for the sofa bed, the sheets had blood stains all over them, no idea if they had been washed or not No service for 4 days, thats ridiculous I requested clean towels, and I was told, “If we have any”, what do you mean “if we have any”? I received 2 new bath towels, yet my room originally had 4 The buffet breakfast also a joke Pre-made pre-packaged food is not a buffet, fresh fruit options, apples, oranges, bananas You are still using COVID as an excuse for poor food, poor customer service, poor maintenance of your facility, and a lack of overall cleanliness At $300 plus a night you need to do better We stayed at 2 other hotels on our 10 day trip, both had full buffet, daily room cleanings, fresh linens, and full service cleaning if requested So what is your excuse? On a positive note they allowed me to check in 2 hours early

G B

We’ve stayed here often, but will not be returning after our last visit I made reservations 10 months in advance for a nearby graduation, and specifically requested not to be located near dogs or put on a dog floor The receptionist feigned ignorance and put us right next to a room with 2 dogs that barked and bothered us whenever we came or left the room

The next day I told the desk manager how displeased I was that my request made MANY MONTHS in advance was not honored Those with dogs have no right to force others to put up with their being on premises Also, the breakfast was a joke with minimal offerings of prepackaged food This is a money saver and has nothing to due with Covid! We will not be back to this RI again

Janis Ford

My husband and I have recently been looking for a hotel that was close to our son We tried a few different hotels including Springhill Suites which is right next to the Residence Inn and were not very impressed by the people who worked there or how big the rooms were I am so happy to declare that trying the RI was the best thing we could have done

The rooms were spacious with full kitchens and very nice I wasn’t so much pleased by the housekeeping but that was a minimal part of our stay When we checked in we were greeted by a very professional, and compassionate young lady Rebecca She honestly made our stay that much better She was so kind to offer to help me up to my room with a few very heavy groceries that I had so much trouble carrying She made us feel welcome and very comfortable My husband and myself have finally found the perfect hotel to stay at when seeing our son and we couldn’t be happier Thanks to the wonderful room, Rebecca and Troy who was lovely and ran breakfast, We will always have a wonderful go to hotel when we arrive in Connecticut! We love Marriotts and the service we received really matched with what the brand stands for

Very nice service from the front desk Helped by Jennifer checking out and Todd upon checking in and they were very friendly and helpful with any questions Had a issue with the remote and they fixed it right away after I called down to the front desk

Experience was nice staying there and would definitely stay there again Breakfast was nice also

Sharon Plotkin

Treated very poorly by the staff They wait every 4 days to clean rooms and don’t care to clean them even if you ask Garbage piles up in the hall, carts not put back and the staff don’t put them back

Staff unwilling to help when you ask for help with room charges, amenities Unfortunately not all the staff were this horrible but it only takes some to make it that I not only will not return here but will change my hotel choices Marriott staff should remember that I am a paying customer

Smasher Mustashi

I had to check twice to make sure we didn’t check in to the roach motel By time our stay was over I wish we had The staff we’re extremely rude and disrespectful

There was no coffee available except at breakfast, they did manage to warm it unlike the frozen breakfast food They have a pool but the staff would not allow us to use it They “don’t want to disinfect it” Their words Do yourself a favor and stay at the relatively upscale roach motel next door Marriott ought to wipe their name from this hotel asap0/5 stars! Pro-tip, from desk agent is named Terez, pronounced “trash”

We stayed several nights in May 2022 (for the Yale reunion) and absolutely loved our experience The rooms are very well-appointed, with all the comforts of home including a wet bar area that looks very posh The decor and accent pieces were all so tastefully done, both in the room and the lobby

We were also quite impressed with the gym and fitness equipmentNever had a problem with noise for the four nights we were there I wish we had a hotel with this kind of vibe closer to where we are in Northern California!

Melanie

The hotel was very comfortable, and the morning coffee/tea service was a great touch We drove in from NYC and booked this hotel since we were eloping at City Hall the next morning, and trying to request a late checkout was far more difficult than I have encountered at any hotel in the past I noted the purpose of our trip in the reservation comments and was surprised that not one staff member bothered to share a simple “congratulations” when they read/heard we were getting married

We repeatedly received well wishes from strangers on the street I would have thought it would be the bare minimum from someone who had chosen a career in the hospitality industry The hotel was beautiful, but the service did not match the premium price point

Jessica Silvia

Just got home from our stay in room 314 and already miss the beautiful features We were in town for a concert and the location of this hotel was perfect It was in walking distance to many great restaurants, but also has a fine dining type restaurant on the main level and a rooftop bar that serves snack type foods along with delicious cocktails

Our room was perfect for what we needed and we could tell there were many thought out details that went into planning that you often don’t see at the big name hotels The staff was friendly and courteous and we really appreciated the complimentary morning coffee delivery each morning

This is a hidden gem Just one and a half hours away from New York City Such a wholesome place

I love everything about this place It is a cabin on top of the moss mountain and there’s an outdoor kitchen with a grill and a outdoor shower which is so so good and we just love walking around the land I love the compost toilet, It’s clean and not even smelly! It is off- grid There is no electricity in the cabin but that’s what makes it magical You are there completely in the forest and surrounded by natureWe also met the llamas group on Sunday that you can sign up beforehand to walk with them and there’s organic garden that you can also volunteerWe will definitely be back for this Oasis to getaway from the concrete jungle 🌞

A first time experience that made a lasting impression! Gathered on a lovely setting with campfire behind me, pond to my left, a small group of friendly people to my right and a three hour concert of talented local artists entertaining us under the stars Nature trails, spiritual gatherings, events and short stays are offered here as well Looking forward to my next visit!

Mendel Groner

This place is so nice, both physically and spiritually Bill, Andrea and David are the kindest and most gracious hosts They took the utmost care to ensure that my friends and I were warm and cozy throughout our stay

Staying in the Pagoda Cabin up on top of the hill is akin to staying in the Garden of Eden A beautiful natural space that allows the spirit to soar and the mind to become clearA big thank you to the people at Stick and Stones Farm CT

My wife and I absolutely loved our spacious, well appointed, and beautifully decorated room at the Delamar Southport The entire staff made us feel pampered and welcomed during our stay Starting with management, to the front desk, to the housekeeping staff, and especially David and Mickey who helped us check in/out; everyone was first class

The complimentary breakfast was delicious and added great value as well as convenience Thank you for a wonderful stay We will be back!

In my room right now, or am I on the interstate? Hard to say I’m traveling on business and recently moved from the Delamar – West Hartford (wonderful hotel) to the Delamar – Southport The hotel is in a great location right off 95 but that’s also it’s biggest Achilles heel, I can hear every car speed past as though I’m standing on the interstate

This wouldn’t be an issue if the hotel were located near a less traveled corridor, as I can sleep through an intermittent car driving by but this cacophony remained constant and began picking up around 4am I travel with ear plugs as I’m well aware of your average hotel noise but even those didn’t quell the noise If I’m paying a premium to stay somewhere I expect everything to be near perfect Perhaps I need to give the hotel another chance and request a room facing the ocean next time However, as I alluded to, if I’m spending more money than I need to for a quality experience and better stay, I expect better than average Service was great and the location in terms of nearby restaurants and waterfront are ok Here I come Marriott

Staff was nice Breakfast was good The rooms were huge

Furniture needed a little updating but was still really nice Some stains on the carpet Overall had a good experience I’d recommend taking your breakfast to your room though Finding a table for breakfast was like trying to get a life boat on the Titanic Not enough tables for even half the amount of rooms there

Sarah MacDonald

We stayed here for one evening when attending a concert out of state Making a reservation was easy, prices were affordable, the staff was courteous & helpful Overall, we were quite impressed

The rooms are comfortable & clean They have a restaurant inside & food can be brought to your room The front desk staff were friendly & informative We’ll be staying here again the next time we attend a concert in the area

Paul Foote

We were not completely happy with our stay at the Hyatt Place There was no daily room service to replace our towels and no one even asked if we wanted some clean ones The air was also heavily perfumed in the lobby and hallways which was sometimes overbearing in its smell

We also were not impressed with the breakfast which was mostly boring with tasteless eggs and sausage I never tried the bacon which was over cooked and there were no pastries The coffee urns were almost always empty too even though I was at breakfast fairly earlyWe skipped the hotel breakfast on the morning we left and found a restaurant that served decent foodOn the positive side the room was larger than our typical hotel room with plenty of storage space, a comfortable bed, nice bathroom and a TV that featured an online channel guide We also had a nice view over the estuary at the rear of the hotel

This hotel exceeded all expectations for my small weekend trip to New Haven The hotel is small, but feels cozy and not cramped Everyone who worked at the hotel was incredibly nice to us and even apologized for there not being valet parking (I can certainly park my own car myself)

The room was very upscale and felt clean and cozy I would certainly recommend as it is also super close to everything in that main street

Carrie Watts

Very good location if visiting the University or museums Rooms are clean, staff is friendly (even if you arrive at 3am because your flight is delayed) Agree with other posts- parking at $37 a day is atrocious

Pedestal sink with no counter space is silly And the room has no fridge or microwave- so only book here if being in walking distance to Yale and restaurants is your top priority

Suzanne Slade

The Study has always been a “home away from home” for our family With impeccable service, fully equipped, comfortable and clean, inviting rooms, we have always loved staying there I will always be grateful to them for their incredible kindness, warmth and thoughtfulness several weeks ago when we all stayed there for our mother’s funeral

Thank you to everyone there for providing so much comfort and refuge to us during that difficult time We Will appreciate it always

We stayed two nights over the weekend while visiting CT and loved the beauty of the hotel It is close to the highway and easily accessible to the Boston Post Road shopping and restaurants, 15 minutes to downtown New Haven You can also get to the shoreline and seafood restaurants in about 15 minutes

The rooms have 10 foot ceilings which I have never seen and they are very spacious! The staff were very friendly and attentive The laundry facility was clean and the dryers were excellent I only had to put $150 in once to dry our clothes They have an indoor pool and hot tub and breakfast was hot (I wasn’t a fan of anything but it was clean and hot) I will definitely stay here again It was a better experience compared to staying in Manhattan at a “luxury” hotel

Paul Jacobs

The all new Homewood Suites is by far the nicest and best hotel in the entire New Haven and surrounding area Appearance wise, they went above and beyond any comparably priced hotel, it’s truly beautiful inside along with the manicured, park like grounds outside The rooms are spacious with kitchens and I was told there are 1 bedroom suites in addition to the studio designed, apartment like rooms

It is quiet, peaceful and serene with amenities such as the indoor pool, hot tub, well equipped gym, basketball court, gas grills with outside tables, the buffet breakfast and social hour is inside an amazing, spacious and open room overlooking picture perfect,, landscaped, countryside of Orange, CT Many guests must stay longer term as I met a nurse from the South working at Yale’s hospital Some of the reviews are not accurate and to claim racism with the most diverse staff tells me that they must have violated the state mandated, Covid rules that I recall being handed a copy of on my first time, check in Another complained of the hot tub being cold so yes, these things can happen anywhere but should not characterize this brand new hotel that I felt was comparable to a Ritz Carlton without the exorbitant prices associated with a top rated, full service hotel If I can get the facility without paying for the services such as room service, bellman service and valet parking, it’s a huge win as no doubt, this Homewood Suites room in Manhattan or any major city would be $1200 or more per night The staff were all polite and friendly, usually addressing me by name Any poor review I would beg to differ with after multiple stays and will tell anyone to use the place for its intention, a comfortable nights stay in a beautifully appointed room with hotel amenities galore, enjoy the great breakfast buffet or mingle during the weeknight cocktail hours, charge your EV in one of the several charging stations, even has an Amazon delivery lockers in the lobby I can go there in the worst mood and become instantly happy and do go there on occasion for a night or two to feel away and on vacation While this hotel certainly did not deserve a single poor review, what it does deserve is telling the truth about this fantastic place, just hope after all these compliments they do not raise the price

Tamara Faulkner

This was my first time staying at this location I loved the evening social during the week and the staff were nice The staff knew the guests by name and made you feel welcomed

The only issue I had was the housekeeping did not replace the coffee cups in the room when only the towels were replaced Besides that issue I will return the next time I am in the area for work

Our family has had to stay in a few hotels in the area while our home was under construction and Hyatt House has been our favorite experience thus far We booked a king room with pullout bed and kitchenette for our family of four and it was the perfect amount of space to stay for the 4 days we were there The room was dated but VERY clean and organized

The bed was perfect for sleeping and even the pullout bed was the most comfortable one I have ever slept onThe staff was so kind every moment and attentive to anything we needed Breakfast was ample, the space was always clean and the food was always warm – and we appreciated the warm cookies and drinks available at night The pool and hot tub were a tad heavy on the chemicals but the temps were just right for us We visited every nightWe used the gym every day too and I loved the upgraded treadmills and variety of machines available for the space (3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 bikes, weights and standing weight machine) Whenever we addressed a question of concern, it was taken with care and answered as we hoped We will be staying again!

Stayed here for one night while traveling Not too far off of Rt 8, which was helpful The room was clean and everyone on staff was very friendly

The hotel was quietThe pool/hot tub was open till 10pm which was great They have a bar downstairs and offer breakfast at 7am Thanks for the good stay

Shane Vega

The breakfast was absolutely the worst The juice was totally watered down The oatmeal was like water and wasn’t thick at all any of the days

I watched the worker take a piece of sausage sitting on the counter and put it back in with the sausages Just insane! The coffee was straight water They are either cutting corners or their staff has no idea what they are doing Was a waste of money for sureThe room shower was clogged and the shower head was broken upon entry of the room You have no free water so it cost you $7 a bottle of you drink the waters in the room 😱 The room smelled damp like humid

We recently rented the meeting room for some team-building events for my business as well as training We also had contracted catering for the event as well Space was set up just as promised, food was better than we could have asked for, and everything was provided as promised by the event coordinator

Our contact there was Lauren M was phenomenal She made sure everything went smoothly and ensured that everything was 110% Great job!Our speaker had a pleasant experience staying at the hotel I couldn’t be happier and will certainly keep you in mind the next time we need a meeting space or a room for visitors

Here for a Event Stayed here friday 7/29/22 into 7/30/22 stayed in 310 Our first time & now our very last

Online pictures makes this hotel in person look deceiving We had a king room Out dated, Rugs gross, huge 2 inch gap with our room door 3 out of 4 lights don’t work in our room Hotel itself was warm throughout our stay especially in the elevator Convenient store at desk, everything was out of stock minimal to choose fromStaff in evening for checkin were fineCheckout however wasn’t Girl with glasses & dark hair didn’t ask how our stay was or anything, We felt rushed So I came out and told her we were dissatisfiedShe didn’t seem to care I Stated it was our first time we will not be backShe said “well the hotel is gonna be renovated Then sarcastically stated have a nice day” and walked away in the back room going through the doorHow rude!! Absolutely NO Hospitality at all especially to guests$18 per-person for breakfast is outrageous! for a hotel that needs updating If anything it should be free with our stay till after renovationI’m the wife writing this review

This hotel had the nicest people I’d ever met The hotel ran out of two queen beds and so they just gave me a suite instead! I loved the jetted tub My family woke up a bit late the next day and they gave us a free extension on the checkout time so we could pack everything

Not only the front desk, but also the cleaners were extremely kind to us as well Would definitely recommend this place!

Comfortable hotel, a litt strange if only for the fact for more conventional travelers that there was no face to face interaction for check in or check out Definitely will be double checking that I wasn’t double charged by some mistake of lack of communication between the booking site and this systemOtherwise it was very nice for a nights stop over

Decent bed and furnishings, quickly heated water for a shower, easy to access and use temperature controls

This hotel had tons of potential with a cool look and a restaurant on site! I stayed here for a business trip and enjoyed my room, very clean and cool decor The restaurant was pretty yummy and easy, just steps from my door However, once I decided to call it a night, it was next to impossible to fall asleep with loud blaring music from the restaurant downstairs and skews of people yelling outside my window

There was also a terrible sewer smell somewhere nearby that filled my room even with all doors and windows closed I wanted to love it, but not being able to have a quiet enjoyment until the music stopped at 1am was not up to par for me

Marc Maertens (Home)

Higher end motel but certainly not a hotel Room is ok but needs more lightHuge issue and reason for low score is the very annoying constant loud noise from a generator or something similar we had in our room 311, coming from below

Impossible to sleep Called ‘reception’ but nothing could be done Did not care at allRecommendation: look elsewhere!!!!

Very comfortable rooms, service staff was always polite and friendly During our stay there was construction which pushed the staff and the guests into each other It made our stay more enjoyable

The food and fare is very good, even the breakfast bistro It’s expensive, but it may as well be a convenience store Starbucks on tap thoughThe internet is blazing fast, and there is everything you need in the building

Cris Graca

there is no breakfast, there is no change of towels or bed linen, nor is there any cleaning in the rooms, only if you request it and look there Hotel under renovation, not respecting hours, noise and a lot of dust that invades the room, there is no cleaning or respect, this hotel seems to care only about the money, it has no consideration for guests to put it on a floor that has no renovation Ice machine is only on the 3rd floor when it works

Slow elevator with problems Honestly the worst we’ve ever stayed I do not recommend I had a terrible allergy to dust and, believe me, insects

Markus (FAST-MK5)

This hotel is very close to a lot of restaurants and fast foods including a not so great Mini WALMARTThe rooms are quiet and clean,I honestly always stay at the Hiltons down the hill but decided to give Marriott a first shotI love how clean is everything around here and yes,the pool is open and the room temperature is close to 80 degrees, water is heated

I want you to know ahead of time that there’s NO breakfast here at all UNLESS you BUY IT at a mini STARBUCKS at the main lobby(I didn’t know about this before hand)

Very nice and friendly New Haven hotel close to everything Attended a Yale conference here and also stayed at the hotel Room was comfortable with nice views

Staff was friendly and helpful I do note that the parking garage filled up and that was an issue for a colleague arriving with mobility issues – though with coaxing they accommodated but that should have not been so difficult
