My dad had brought me to the camp ground and immediately I was so Ecstatic, the surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful The campground is Quite literally a bike ride away from so many different sites Such as, there is multiple very nice bike trails along with a very accessible beach several miles away, parks and more!

Ice cream and other small shops in the town The minute Veronica had seen my brother and I on bikes she immediately made sure we knew about all of the fun things to do We appreciate her so much! We won’t ever be able to forget our stay with you guys Everyone in the campground was so welcoming and the view is breathtaking, waking up to walk outside to a beautiful river with so many different kind of boats, from recreational boats to huge cargo-like ships From the views to the activities to the people it was an experience I will treasure I can’t wait to come back!

Stayed here for our inaugural RV experience, & it was perfect! Everyone (employees & guests) was helpful, friendly, and patient We can now camp with confidence, thanks to all the great help we received The waterfront site was beautiful, and well priced

We would highly recommend staying here, & plan to return for a longer duration Thank you!!!!

We dealt with Veronica and Ron during our month stay They were pleasant to deal with and accommodated our needs It was nice waking up to a lake front, but I might be biased since I love any body of water

It’s a quiet campground You can hear the occasional train and some noise from the power plant, nothing too bothersome The rent is affordable compared to other campgrounds in the area Needless to say, it was a pleasant stay!

Although I got in late, the staff had my check in packet ready and I literally didn’t have to do anything I had forgotten I needed a pass code to get in the door

but I reread my confirmation email and all was good! (Make sure you pay attention to that!)The rooms are clean and definitely well stocked for a weekend getaway Honestly they’re big enough and modern enough I could live in one without issueBe warned, it’s an old building – I only point this out as it’s not exactly sound proof But it’s super charming and well taken care of If I stay in Monroe again, Hotel Sterling will easily be my first choiceI’ve never tried staying at a boutique hotel before, but if I can find others as great as this one, it’s the only way I’ll travel from now on

Amazing place! Having spent many years in Monroe, to find this upscale, contemporary, cosmopolitan slice of the big city here was mind-blowing We booked a room so that all my siblings could relax and share a rare evening together without distractions in a central, easy-to-reach location It was like resting in a well appointed apartment with a great feel of home

The amenities, particularly the kitchen with the complimentary refreshments, the microwave and refrigerator made it easy to relax without being rushed to decide where and what to eat The easy walk to the downtown area shopping, history, riverfront, churches, food and drink makes it very convenient The staff was friendly, interested and interesting We even had a chance to tour a couple of the other suites before we left Each one was unique and just as welcoming as the lastWe plan to come back for a couple of nights to celebrate the holidays together Now that our old homestead is gone, we consider this our new gathering spot, our home away from home We were particularly impressed with the convenient parking accommodations as the hotel is located mid-block on a narrow downtown streetIf you’re just looking for a place to stay overnight, this isn’t it If you want to have the experience of spending time away from home at a friend’s place make a bee-line for the Hotel Sterling

Nicole at the front desk went ABOVE & BEYOND by answering my questions! She was super nice and didn’t mind at all This is one of the MANY reasons that I stay at Hamptons all over the country EVERY WEEK!Thank you for incredible service and a beautiful updated location!God Bless!

Decent hotel for the most part, but i was disappointed that they only had flavored creamer for coffee and the only soda available was Ginger Ale When it is 10:00 pm i shouldn’t have to go to a store for a freaking drink I paid $130 a night for a few perks

The $50 motel down the road at least had a drink machine Very disappointed! No excuse for not some options for drinks and plain creamer for coffee!

Check-in process was easy, we did it on the Hilton app as we have stayed here many times before Of course, we had our arms full of luggage and the back door would not open with the phone app We tried it six times with two phones

Every other door worked fine In the last two years every time we have stayed here the “pool has been closed” They blamed Covid, they blamed pool problems, they seem to blame everything but themselves Call them first if the pool means anything to you All other hotels I have stayed at pools are open and have been The room was ok, except the coffee pot was next to the toilet Who decided that was a good idea? The breakfast times have been changed to end at 9:00am instead of 10:00am even on the weekends The breakfast was empty and out of food for over an hour I felt bad for the food preparer She only brought out three omelets and there were 25 people lined up waiting for food She definitely needed help on the weekend My main complaint with the hotel was the management lied to us On our last night the air conditioner stopped working We were staying on the 3rd floor, and it was over 80 degrees in our room Hampton has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so I asked for our money back for the last night of the three that we stayed We booked with the Hilton Honors app The manager told us it was not possible for her to refund us We would need to call the corporate complaint number to get reimbursed for our final night We called corporate and they asked us why the hotel did not reimburse us? We told them what they said, and she said “that is not true, the hotel is the only one that can reimburse your credit card We will now have to mail you a check for the reimbursement” After 45 minutes on the phone with corporate we are hoping we get our check One last note was, we were sitting in the lobby and heard loud banging from the floor above I ask the desk attendant if that was normal at 9:00pm on a Sunday night She said, “oh there is a contractor up there doing work” I said wow that is strange 9:00pm on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend Then we saw the contractor come down with his bug sprayer We then realized it was the Bed Bug company We did not see any in our room, because I always check But you should definitely keep your eyes open for them if you stay here

We love to come here 2 weeks ago was our 3 year in a row in June Had to extend our stay throughout the day on Sunday without any trouble for an extra 20

00 till 7pm Bath house was clean Staff has been nice and not seen very often Never been told to be quiet or any issues with staff Nice grassy sites with gravel pads Have had pleasant experiences

If you want to have some fun do not camp at Harbortown Other then the pool they have no nice amenities So boring

Once you venture out to have a little fun, the rangers follow you around to pull your fun card They also like to bully your children when no adults are around and walk in on girls taking showers when there is clearly a bike right in front of the door Don’t send your kids alone to the showers The one night I actually spoke up and told them to leave the kids alone they went back to management and cry little little boys This campground sucks and isn’t worth a dime My campfire was in the lowest point of our site so it was filled with water all weekend So boring They allow gulf carts but you can’t drive anywhere fun or venturous Just drive in circles on the road ways Your not even aloud to drive on the trails So boring Oh and make sure you only go 3 1/2 bc if you actually go 5 you’ll be told your going too fast I can do more at home on my gulf cart

An unfortunate review

I actually quite enjoyed my time at the grounds themselves, but the office staff awful We came into town on a Saturday and booked a two night stay — we’re so satisfied with the amenities that we decided to extend for three more nights I contacted the office, spoke with Jessica, and asked to extend my stay — she happily obliged and when I asked for my new total (from check in to check out — Saturday to Thursday) she told me it would be $231 I was shocked because the weekend nightly rate was $72 a night — and to pay so little for so many more days it seemed to be a great dealWell, then the charges came in They charged me $144 for Saturday and Sunday night They charged me $10 for an extra car that I did not have They charged me $20 for a late check out that never happened And, they charged me $231 for Monday night through Thursdays checkout which also included a $10 charge for an extra car that I did not have I called and spoke with a “manager” named Heather, who was argumentative, accusatory, disrespectful, and unaccommodating When I asked for an explanation of what the charges were, these are the answers I received:$144 — “Saturday and Sunday night”$10 — “An extra car” When I told her I only had one vehicle, she moved on to the next charge, and did not offer to or remove it$20 — “Late Checkout” When I told her we checked out at 12PM she stated that they had proof of late checkout When I asked what proof, she said that “someone drove by and saw our rig pull out at 3:30PM” When I informed her that was impossible and that we have video footage of our rig being pulled into our storage at 2:45PM in Warren, MI more than an hour away, she interrupted me and told me we checked out late and the fee is valid$231 — “Extended Stay” When I explained to her that I spoke with Jessica to extend our stay, and when we asked what the total was from check in to check out she stated “$231”, and that we were happy with that because it seemed the weekday rate was much lower she stated “it’s $72 per night every night for your site” and when I asked how she was coming up with the math, she stated “you were charged $10 for a second car”It was quite clear that our conversation was going to go nowhere, and they were not going to honor the $231 as we were told So I requested an escalation to her superior/the owner, to which she declined When I asked why, she hung up the phone on me I called back, got an associate, who then provided me with a generic email and advised that there was no extension or direct line of contact to the owner and that she was “just doing her job”So, I sent an email that day requesting owner escalation I received no reply for 3 days, sent a follow up email and received a call about 10 minutes later from Jessica, the “most senior manager”, also the woman who was responsible for this mess While Jessica was decent on the phone, she stated the charges were valid, and that they would not be adjusting anything off — and when challenged on the extra car and late checkout fees, she too said nothing When I asked to speak with the owner, she stated “the owner employs me to handle things like this — I’m handling it” When I said I was not satisfied and continued on she asked me if I could hold so she could take another call — to which I declined, she made time to call me, why should I hold so she can help another guest? She put me on hold anywayAs the owner of several businesses myself, if a consumer ever had a problem with my/our services, my/our staff, and requested an escalation, my/our staff would see to it that I am looped in to address the issue/concerns and see that the consumer walks away satisfied even at the expense of a dollar lost That character is not represented here, and the blatant greed and mismanagement of this place will surely ripple through to the consumer, not just once with me, but again and againI will not return, ever And I’ve taken the charges up with my bank Buyer beware!

Nice rooms with lots of flat surfaces for storage The rooms had comfortable beds and sheets All the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful

The breakfast was much better than typical hotels in both quality and variety Warm cinnamon rolls were an especially nice suprise Less important to me but worth noting, the pool was not great, no hot tub, so much chlorine that even the air burned our eyes, and was too cold

Megan Trotter

The staff were so accommodating and so friendly Very professional! The rooms were very clean, and the bathrooms were as well The complimentary Dove soaps and shampoos were a nice surprise (I don’t usually use hotel shampoos etc

) but these were so nice I couldn’t resist lol We have family in the area and if needed, I would definitely stay here again No complaints whatsoever
