Clearly have a back up plan before staying here I booked a suite because we have two set of twins to only find out that they completely changed my reservation with no explanation phone call or anything Manger didn’t seem to care much and no one tried to fix the situation

I book my reservation well in advance It was booked September 2021 I hope I never have to book here again I didn’t even want to give it a star Please have a back up plan!

I think if no one has ever stayed here when it was the Sheraton then one would think this was a nice hotel Ever since it switched to Marriott this place has disappointed This time no cold water for a shower, no room service even though they advertise as such, room wasn’t ready at 3pm and my door was damaged and had to be repaired as it wouldn’t shut

The staff really tried and were pleasant The only reason I stayed here again was because of business I had in town I will absolutely not stay here again

The lobby is nice, everything is clean Bed was comfy Maintenance was good

Hot breakfast and pool good I gave it three stars because the bathroom was so small you can’t even close the door while you’re sitting on the toilet The depth of the bathroom is the width of the tub Should be just a shower if that’s all the space they had Also explains why their website shows no bathroom pics None If you don’t mind that, you will like the room

Hotel is nice and pool is nice and breakfast is awesome here, This hotel only got 2 stars because of the pool and breakfast! But stayed here back in Jan for the ice castles and the front desk group are unbearable and rude, simply asking about a room rate that was promised to my girlfriend was too much Than her family stays here because they had a fire at there house and just because they asked for towels and the room to be cleaned they get kicked out! I understand the whole Covid thing but seriously that has been over for a while now and it doesn’t give you the right to be rude and threaten to call the cops! I won’t stay here again nor will anyone I know plus my girlfriends family will probably tell everyone not to stay here til a change is made at the desk When will hotels go back to being corporate ran? Cause that’s the only way it needs to be this independent owners don’t care about the people staying at there hotels nor do they care about the service there team is providing!

We happily got married and when we got to the hotel it wasn’t until 10ish pm at night on our Wedding day When we walked in there were pop can stains on the counters, sticky stains, trash from other people before us underthe couch, and worse of all there was a nasty stain on the top blanket Other than the lack of cleanliness the friendliness of country inn is wonderful and warming

We were so tired and kept going in and out of the room between our house, celebrating, and then back to the hotel so we weren’t in the room all too long I would’ve said something the first night or the next morning when we first came but I was just so worn out from the wedding I didn’t wish to complain Otherwise it was a decent room I just wish it wasn’t so dirty because out of all moments I wish it didn’t happen to us on our special night

Before I booked my stay, I read all the WONDERFUL reviews about the hosts Seems they unfortunately moved out 2 days before I arrived Too bad they didn’t train the new lady to have the customer service they did

When we arrived, we stood outside the front door in negative degree weather with our bags in arms and rang the bell Door was locked, we could see lady inside ignoring us… so we got confused and cold, and went to sit back in our warm car The host KNEW what time we would arrive so we expected a warm greeting Called and asked the host if we were at the right door, she said yes So we went back to the door and she finally let us in She then proceeded to give a tour which is appreciated but not very convenient when carrying our bags still in arms Finally in our room, we asked for some ice, was told she would be back with some, but she never returned Room and food was good but hoping the customer service gets better before I ever return again

We stayed in the Cynthia room It was spacious, comfortable and very relaxingThe staff were all friendly and helpful and a joy to talk with

If we had any needs they were a text away, which was great for when we were out and aboutThe beds are extremely comfortable The room was inspiring and the food was amazing We loved every minuteMy only gripe – and it’s a small one – is that they offer Netflix, Hulu, etc But no log in We like to watch a show before bed, but live TV was all we could get Luckily the bed lulled us to sleep real quickOverall a great experience We hope to visit again!

Stayed at this hotel with my entire extended family for a funeral Staff was extremely friendly and courteous and the General Manager Lynne was a great help in helping make arrangements for dinner at the adjoining Machine Shed (which was delicious)The hotel is very clean, and the lobby is beautiful

Very comfortable beds and large bathrooms is a plus The pool area is incredibly spacious and the kids loved itWill definitely be staying here again

Lydia Keskitalo

Clean rooms and great staff, but the floor plan is very odd Many of the rooms look into the pool which itself isn’t bad, but the windows are very thin and the pool doesn’t close until 11:00pm This can be a problem if you are here for business or if you like to get to bed early

However, good prices, clean rooms, and helpful staff makes this hotel a good place to stay in St Paul

Lisa M

Black hole of a room Overall, the hotel was fairly nice, typical Holiday Inn…HOWEVER, our room had absolutely no natural light coming in

We had a window, but it faced a wall Pitch black at all hours Hard to relax, when you have no idea what it’s like outside, or cues that it’s getting late, etc We (spouse and kids) slept terribly as we all kept waking up at various times afraid we’d oversleep (yes, we used an alarm clock), since we had no other cues it was morning Pic was taken before checkout at 9:30 am, just to show how ridiculous it wasWas never informed our room was like that when making booking, or calling in to confirm that day Unable to get new room as hotel was booked No refund as prepaid for best price We’re done with the IHG brand after this

The rooms and the home itself are gorgeous, the mattress was way comfier than most hotel mattresses I’ve slept on, and the owner was an excellent host! She let our group take over the dining room for the night to celebrate a birthday with takeout and a tabletop game, and in the morning she made us french toast, even accommodating my partner’s cinnamon allergy A fantastic experience all around! We’ll definitely be back 🙂

Andrew

My wife and I stayed here for a birthday getaway and had a fantastic experience The lovely property and rich history of the neighborhood was worth it alone, but access to restaurants only a couple blocks away and a wonderful breakfast cooked by Whitney, the owner, along with an engaging conversation with her and the other guests during that delicious meal made this a truly remarkable experience

Jeff Gammon

My wife and I recently stayed a night for an early Valentine’s Day celebration The building is beautiful and cozy- as are much of the surrounding neighborhoods Parking was super easy

The owner was such a sweet and friendly person- she made a truly amazing breakfast for everyone! If a had to split hairs on potential improvements: the fireplace in our room wasn’t a working fireplace- that would have added to the ambiance on a cold winter night Also, the water has a slight sulfur smell to it Other than those minor things- would highly recommend staying here!

Couldn’t be happier with this hotel Small hotel charm with beautifully decorated room Bathroom was spacious and had lots of natural, yet private light from frosted windows

Huge walk in full tile shower Bedding was clean, new, yet soft Thick and heavy window treatments kept plenty of light out in the morning, much appreciated Our room had a private outdoor deck/patio that was fairly secluded and our favorite part complementary anti pasto app and wine on arrival Delicious complementary breakfast as well Breakfast was beyond our expectations My husband prefers full leaf tea and is hard to please and said the tea was amazing Breakfast pastries were fresh and tasted even better than they looked Oranged juice was freshly squeezed Bathroom had ample shampoo and body wash in herbal refreshing scent my husband loved We will definitely recommend and return!

Jack Rusher

Pros:Well decorated rooms, central location, friendly staffCons:Because there is little sound insulation between the second floor rooms and the bustling bar/cafe downstairs, they’re very loud The proprietors seem to know this, as there’s a white noise machine in the room, but it doesn’t do much good if you’re hoping for actual quiet

The included “breakfast” is a pastry and drip coffee If you want an espresso-based coffee, a flat white in my case, it’s offered at the eye popping rate of $5 Egg? Be prepared to pay This policy felt hostile and penny pinching given the cost of the room

I had an absolutely LOVELY two nights at Lora this week The staff was so kind and greeted me every time I popped in and out of my room The hotel is built into the side of the rock

The rooms are super cool – reminded me of The Hewing in Minneapolis Gorgeous shower and bathroom in general Aveda products (thank you!!) They have a great patio on main street and neighbor businesses include a coffee shop and restaurant They valet for $30/night (I stayed 2 week nights) but instead, I parked across the street in a pay lot for $20 for 2 days ($5 per 12 hours) You can’t pay with an app so I had to physically go to the surface lot 4 times But back to the Lora, I HIGHLY recommend!

Mike Langhoff

Superior service Excellent room Beautiful view

We stayed in a Premium King room, on the 3rd floor with a view of main street/the riverI’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels for work, tour & leisure, and this was my single best hotel experience ever(Make sure you reserve parking ahead of time – but even with that, the front desk staff ‘rearranged’ the valet lot to accommodate our car (a wedding group had commandeered the majority of the valet lot))Lora staff even brought a dining table up so my girlfriend and I could have dinner in our room (I provided my own dinnerware, candles & wine service, but Lora does do a package similar to this as an add on) I ordered ‘to go’ food from the Feller restaurant – which was also outstandingIt was a perfect weekend in a beautiful city

Ellen Dyer

I got married in Stillwater in early January We had our cocktail hour and dinner in the restaurant below (20 guests) They have a cute private dining room that fit our group perfectly

Lora did everything to make my wedding a perfect day The pastry chef created an amazing cake for us that really was a work of art The whole staff was accommodating and approachable We would highly recommend this venue if you wanted to have a small wedding Rooms were so cute and the beds were easily the most comfortable I was able to sleep the night before my wedding Everything about our stay made us feel like we were at home Thanks so much Lora!

Hotel is very dated The breakfast is hit or miss – day one was meat, potatoes and eggs Day two was potatoes and eggs

Day three was potatoes, french toast, and eggs Day four was cold breakfast for $9 Day five was a full spread I watched someone try to check in at 6PM and get told their room was not ready yet because housekeeping was short staffed Check in is at 3! It was comfortable enough but I will definitely try a different hotel when in the area again

Mike Beschen

I stayed here almost a month So got a really good feel for how things a run at this location I’ve stayed at several Hilton properties

This one may be the absolute worst one I asked several times for my sheets to be changed, that only happen once during my 26 day stay They never once vacuumed the carpeting in my room Also you can forget about the bar and restaurant It’s almost never open The staff is very friendly but they are working under a manager that is inept I’ll be staying at the Marriott next week

Staff so friendly and accommodating

We could see the Fourth of July fireworks from the front yard which was so cool!!!

Pros: Beautiful buildings Both the main house and carriage house Welcoming greeting from a hostess, delicious breakfasts and kind woman who cooked and served for us

Beautiful roomCons: we weren’t allowed to lock the door to the carriage house where we were staying, owners of establishment are not on site, unimpressed with polyester bedding given the price of the room,

Namrata Dongre

We didn’t stay in this place but we had really bad experience with the person who was taking the reservations I called them and asked for 2 night stay with my two adult kids and we were planning to book 2 separate rooms As soon as the guy picked up the phone and I asked him if we can book 2 rooms, he immediately denied and said as they don’t allow kids to stay in the room

Then I told him that your website says like 2 adult and kid up to 17 years of age can stay in 1 room then he says no we will not allow he was very arrogant and said he will not give us rooms I got little upset and asked Why can’t we stay there, then he said yeah you can stay here if you book 4 rooms for your family, one for me, my husband, my daughter and my son He was so rude because my accent wasn’t American He sensed it with my accent that I am not white American so I can’t stay in that lodge Such a pathetic person to talk This is my first ever experience in America where I was rejected based on my accent I will never recommend this place to any of my friends or Family May be if you are white you gonna definitely enjoy your stayIn Addition to your response I never asked for one room for my family I asked I wanted to book for 2 night from 26, 27 feb for my family The person immediately said we don’t give it to family or with kids I mentioned about the website where they allow one kids up 17 years Then He asked me about my kids age I told him that “you are hesitant to give us room and then I have nothing to say and thats all right” then he said if you want to book 4 rooms then I am ready to give you My Husband and my kids were listening and we all were shocked as I was on speaker My husband also said ” Why should I book 4 rooms for each of us??” If that call is recorded then please listen the conversation I have no reason to lie about it I know my kids are grown up and we always book 2 rooms where ever we go So I know the city code with Air BNB I also felt insulted when I was denied for stay in your property My daughter only found this place and she wanted to stay in Agatha Cristy room, she was very sad the way the person was talking to me

We decided to spend our anniversary here as this is where we spent our honeymoon 5 years ago and still love it! The staff are very nice, it’s always clean, pool is nice and is 3-5 feet so not very deep but enough to swim laps or just lounge in The price seems reasonable to us, as we paid $163 for our suite for the night It’s nice to have the roof top restaurant attached! We always get the suites with the hot tub that has a fire place, king bed, stand up shower, and lots of towels

We would highly recommend them and will be going back again

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions The times before were good This time the hotel was wild and quite the party atmosphere

It was so loud outside our rooms until after midnight Definitely do not stay on the ground floor if you are wanting to sleep at any point The other room we had on the second floor wasn’t much better We understand people having a good time but this was outrageous When management was asked about it, he politely replied there wasn’t anything that could be done and the bar stayed open until 2AM This will be our last stay at this facility

Shayne E

We were in town for some concrete pump training and stayed at this facility Nicest Best Western I have ever stayed The owner would personally greet us at dinner to make sure we were enjoying our stay

The restaurant bar inside the hotel was lively and had incredible food Try the prime rib it was delicious! We had a large group and our server, who I believe was Eddie, was very attentive and kept the drinks flowing This is why I can’t remember his name for sure! Great stay

This is such a beautiful place! We stayed here for my husband’s birthday Loved the fact that it isn’t the average hotel The rooms are very charming and the antique furniture and art was all lovely

Really easy to take a walk along Summit and get to nearby restaurants! I wish we had stayed longer We were up on the third floor–based on the photos we thought the room would be a bit smaller/cozier but it ended up being very spacious!

Mary Jo Bartels

Such a delight! Did not want to leave this beautiful place! We booked the master suite and just Wow! So many amazing spaces to enjoy The quality of the home, the wood, the windows and light, the furnishings, fireplaces, library, parlor Such a grand place to savor sweet musings of lives and years gone by

Will definitely come back but for a longer stay! And I plan up research the story of the family who first lived here and the evolution since those early daysThank you for making this indulgence available for us to enjoy!!

We were looking for a space for hair and makeup artists to come in to get my bridal party ready for the big day that could turn into a honey moon suite at the end We booked room 301 It looked exactly like the virtual tour accept it was more polished, more beautiful, more clean The floors and all the pictures and floor boards were pristine Their cleaning staff are amazing Since I hosted four bridesmaids, a personal attendant, three flower girls, and the two hair & makeup artists the morning of, I emailed the day before to request a clean, fresh sheets, and towels They came in after we left for the church and left everything looking like newI was worried in the restored building that the air conditioning may be unreliable but it was cool throughout the suite and stayed Cool in every room The bedroom closet was large enough to air out my cathedral length dress train during our stay The gorgeous tub was perfect for a post-wedding soak The full kitchen and fridge was ideal for the Lund’s catering we brought in for breakfast and lunch and kept everything cool and Fresh so we were able to have chilled bubbly when we returned back and cold OJ in the morning as well as midnight snacks without ever having to leave the room After a busy day, we were slow getting packed up to leave in the morning of checkout We emailed the desk from bed for a checkout extension and they responded with a two hour extension of our code without issue We had such an amazing experience we can’t wait for a reason to go back My husband even made a Facebook live video of the room before we left he was so happy with it Thank you, Davidson, for such an AMAZING stay You helped make our wedding weekend so marvelous Keep up the good work

We stayed here for Valentine’s Day as a staycation We live in the Twin Cities but wanted to do something special It was a lot of fun

We used their valet service which was nice We also took advantage of their rooftop spa, this was so amazing It’s a great place for just a special night They are extremely dog friendly so if you have a furry friend bring them along The only downfall, we had horrible service in the attached restaurant We stopped in for a late night drink and a snack in the bar area, our server ignored us the entire time Didn’t bring plates, napkins or silverware with the appetizer we ordered Finally got her attention and asked for napkins (we had ordered cheese curds – greasy – napkin was necessary) she finally sent someone else over after we were done and told them we didn’t need them anymore She was completely engaged with another table showing them pictures on her phone and carrying on a long conversation It was ridiculous

The hotel is beautiful It’s fairly easy to find and pull up front The roof- top hot tub and sky line view were awesome! The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable

We didn’t get a chance to check out the bar/restaurant but they look promising The valet experience could use a little work When paying over $400/night for the room and $48 for valet we were expecting for at least a little help unloading vehicles and bringing luggage to our room When leaving- call plenty early for the valet It took at least a half hour from the time we called to get the vehicle

The Hewing is no doubt a beautiful place to stay and well done for the city However the price you pay for a night doesn’t quite match the quality of what you get unfortunately For a price tag of $420 for a king size city view we were expecting a bigger room, plush hotel towels, robe’s, a more comfortable bed with a waterproof mattress cover that doesn’t make that plastic sound when you move on it, and at least a bottle or two of complementary water

We went up to the rooftop jacuzzi to enjoy the evening and it was right next to the roof top bar, which anyone can get into, so all the bar attendees are watching the hot tubers, it was a very weird and uncomfortable set up Needless to say we didn’t get it Your paying Ritz prices without the amenities

Our stay was amazing from check in to check out! When checking in we were made aware of large group of hockey kids staying It did not bother us one bit but was nice they let us know The room was beautiful and clean! The shower was hot and had great water pressure! The staff and chef were AWSOME

Friendly and helpful! My omelet was delicious! We will definitely stay here again when visiting the kids! Thank you so much for a great stay!!!

Vonice LarsenBailey

Three stars because the front desk staff is phenomenal and work hard to do the very best to make guests feel welcome Avoid the place like the plague if there is a hockey tournament going on, the running up and down the hallways and noise was ridiculous The breakfast is an overpriced poor quality “meal” you would be better off stopping at the Holiday gas station and getting some snacks

Zak RL

Don’t stay here unless you have no other options Walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING in the room next to you All the doors slamming at 1am was ridiculous

Our room was clean and somewhat modern but all the doors stick and you really have to yank them hard to shut them Beds were comfortable but the pillows were super flatThis place also offers ‘breakfast’ but that’s a complete joke They charge $14 for a “hot breakfast” or $10 for anything else They would literally look at you with a straight face and ask you for $10 for a bowl of cheerios What?!? Just go to the holiday gas station across the street for a cheaper and better breakfast

If you want to waste a lot of time finding a place to stay you picked the right group Could not book a room on the app or the website Waited on the phone for over 25 minutes and then the price is conveniently $40 more

I’ll pass, I don’t have that much time There are plenty of hotels that have efficient reservation processes This is the second time in three stays, never again!! Sad because the hotels are beautiful but not worth the headache

Anika Logan

Their still doing no cleaning due to Covid however I didn’t know that meant public areas too You’ll be waiting on the phone trying to book an reservation for 5-10 minutes, which is ridiculous The manager Samantha is absolutely rude

When asking simply questions she seem anxious and irritated Truthfully if they revived a different manager I feel as tho this hotel could be a nice However Melvin at the front desk was very nice and helpful

Brooke Schaefer

Clean, updated, spacious rooms I like there’s a “market” in the building for snacks that may have been forgotten for the trip

Having Starbucks coffee in the lobby is always an awesome feature Staff is friendly and helpful Just wish they had things in the rooms saying when the snack/drink bar closed Or a list of nearby restaurants that delivered to the hotel

From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing The front desk was manned by true professionals that cared about their clients 100%They were so helpful, friendly and accommodating

The 4 us girls traveled up from Nebraska for 5 days to attend a concert in St Paul for my niece’s birthday and even though we only ended up staying 3 days (the concert got cancelled at the last minute so we came home a couple days early) it was worth every penny and then some The parking at the hotel was a breeze in a very busy, quaint, beautiful town The location cannot be beat as can walk to everything easily Our room (308) was absolutely gorgeous with a balcony overlooking Main St With a river view It was beautifully appointed as a 1 bedroom suite They brought us a mini fridge and a rollaway bed and the couch was also very comfortable Plenty of room for the 4 of us They had numerous outside sitting areas, a fire pit courtyard as well as a rooftop deck with a fire pit and large hot tub as well We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone

Alyssa Goldschmidt

Pros: Rooftop hot tub was amazing The hotel Is located In a perfect place Everything Is walking distance

Staff/customer service was friendly & easy to call when we needed somethingCons: No fridge or Microwave(which we thought was odd), but just giving a heads up for future visitors, because we brought cold food & ended up having to toss It Lastly, the bed & pillows were terrible Other then that, great stay Fire pits & hot tub were awesome on these last couple cold nights!

Leslie Hollerud

I stayed here for one night with a friend on a free night because she previously had a problem In the dead of winter there was no hot water The hotel was attractive in the public spaces

The rooms had no closet, no fridge, no microwave and no iron We tried to eat there My water arrived warm on a really hot and humid day and the glass had a big smear of lipstick and a red dot that I was hoping wasn’t blood The server didn’t even apologize He just said I will get you another We ordered Red Snapper and when it came I tried to cut it in half to share and my knife wouldn’t even cut through it I’ve never seen a piece of fish that was that rubbery I don’t even know if it was fish The Manager came over and I told her what happened and she laughed and said “I don’t think anyone in the back is bleeding “ referring to the dirty glass With a huge bar and about 1000 bottles of liquor they couldn’t even make blended drinks If we would have paid for the room it would have been $389 a night If they want to charge those prices they really need to step up their customer service skills With all the competition in the area I would think they would be a little more concerned with their reputation Would not stay there again

Brant Backes

The hotel was nice Beds are hard but that appears to be the norm for all hotels so I was surprised We got the king size bed suite with the whirlpool

The room was enormous! I mean you could easily place 6 kind size beds in the room with plenty of space to move around The room came with what appeared to be a pullout couch, desk/small table, mini fridge, microwave and a couple of sinks The only downside was the position of the whirlpool It made it hard to get in and out of it Otherwise we will certainly get a room like this in the future

Kymn Davis

Grabbed a room for 1 night Exterior looked great, lobby was clean and impressive Hallways where a bit dated and gave a “Shining” feeling

Room was smelly, like the stink of a previous smoking room turned non-smoking room recently Bed was hard as a rock, pillows are the kind of down where your head instantly sinks to the bottom Room view included that of a wasps nest Would NOT be staying here again Not worth the $150+ price tag Room is more styled of a $60-70 hotel

Zebulen Dickey

The overall experience at this location was okay The sofa couch in the room was very dirty It had multiple stains and was very dusty

The breakfast was less than desirable The eggs were runny and had lot of was in the bottom of the pan and the sausage patties were dry Being there are so many other Hilton family hotels in the area, I will not be returning to this location

Nice, but lacked the details that make a place special We stayed in a street view room during the week, so the price was reasonable Hotel staff were friendly

No lamps next to the bed, so you have to climb out of bed to flip a wall switch Bathroom had a pedestal sink that was pretty and went along with the theme of the room, but there was no space for toiletries when getting ready on the morning Furniture was ornate with lots of grooves that needed dusting, though the room seemed overall clean The location is convenient if you want to be downtown Stillwater, but we would not likely stay here again

Chrissy Gamst

Location and rooftop bar were great, staff were friendly, and the new portion was clean Lots of character in the historic side which was cool Room was large, but needed some work (peeling wallpaper, ect

) and the TV was super tiny I would not stay again for the price charged I would also suggest offering a government and AAA discount

Katie McGuire

The room was nice, very historic with a fire place and bathtub Temperature was hard to cool down but otherwise good Location was great, right on the river and lots of stuff near by

Wasn’t thrilled with Charlie’s restaurant, didn’t have the greatest service and it was very over priced for what it was If we go back we will find another restaurant near by, many places to choose from
