Beautifully remodeled rooms with a lot of character! High ceilings and tall windows too We had a large bathroom with a tub Front desk was helpful and friendly, the restaurant staff kindly gave us directions to the hotel check-in

Cons: our room didn’t have a mini fridge and I arrived after dark finding the complex confusing There was no signage to indicate hotel check-in was in back, just a mild inconvenience Limited parking if there is an event happening We arrived back past dark after our wedding at a different venue and had trouble finding a parking space in the lots

I was sadly very disappointed by my stay here I have been to 100 acres and recommended many friends here, until I stayed here myself I will no longer recommend this as a place to stay

Enjoy brunch, but don’t pay to stay here Firstly, the website is misleading I paid a large amount of money on a room I thought would be a suite We booked this for our wedding night as a mini staycation replacement for a honeymoon so I thought we were splurging and getting the good room Prior to arrival, I mentioned multiple times we were getting married – nothing extra done by the hotel itself I was offered a DISCOUNTED bottle of champagne for 89$ When we arrived in the room, it was a tiny box Very different than what I thought we had paid for The next morning, we quickly realized too late that there were no towels in the room We were forced to use face clothes to dry off! When we were ready for food, and a main reason we booked this place, we attempted to get brunch and could not as there was a wedding party there This should have been told to us when booking or suggested that we make a reservation ahead of time due to the possibility of limited availability On top of all this, we paid an additional fee to have flexible check out as late as 9pm While this sounds great, we were called the day of asking when we would be leaving At that point, wet from the lack of towels, hungry from the lack of brunch and now rushed to leave the room, we ended our “honeymoon” To top it off, I called the hotel to talk to a manager about our stay, talked to a nice man but then received no call back Not even to apologize for the inconvenience I was so hopeful and excited for this place and was so sadly disappointed I will no longer be recommending this place to the many out of town visitors that we have

Not only was the room clean but the entire hotel was Blown away with the housekeeping staff for sure As for the hotel itself, well, there’s a lot to talk about there

I have to admit, I was very skeptical of Hotel Henry before my visit As someone who values historic preservation on more than just a surface level I was less than thrilled about their tenancy in the old state hospital building I thought it was shortsighted to only occupy the central space with no intent to expand History has seen many grand Kirkbride buildings irreparably damaged by partial occupancy over a long period of time Evidence of this is the art museam that now stands where the right wing once ended I also considered the idea of putting a luxury hotel in the old state hospital to be in poor taste Finally, modern renovations inside historic structures are done terribly more often than not One example would be the worthless shell of Danvers State Hospital, another historic Kirkbride building that was completely gutted during its transformation into condominiums After visiting and spending the weekend I can safely say I was a stubborn foolPlans have already been set to renovate the current unoccupied space in the structure which is a relief The vacant sections are well secured and patrolled often Unfortunately they are patrolled by the police so there is always a cop driving around making some folks feel uncomfortable for having an interest in the building outside the limits of the hotel Right at the entrance is an admittedly small exhibit about the past history of the building More could be done to put this information throughout the hotel, but I won’t hold it against them We had an incredible (socially distant) conversation with Laura (please forgive me if I got that wrong) who knew all about the history of the building and the grounds She really went above and beyond in our eyes and truly made the whole stay that much betterAs for the renovation work, some things are left to be desired but I was overwhelmingly pleased with the work done inside the space they occupy As an interested preservationist I actaully had snuck into the structure years ago to document it, before the occupancy of Hotel Henry Comparing the building now to how it appears in my photos is really impressive The hotel retains many historic features, even down to the doors in some wards and original hardware wherever practical Opening the doorway into the stairwells made me gasp, as they are left almost exactly as they were aside from being remarkably clean Some areas of the hotel were off limits so unfortunately we weren’t able to fully explore the structure However, after having such a great experience, I have no doubt we will be back once covid is dealt with and we have more access to the wonderful structure

Enjoyed our stay The room is very spacious and well organized There are two entries to the room and several exists to the parking

The pool side entry of the room is what we liked You can get a beautiful view of the garden alongside pool The fitness center is clean and nice The location of this hotel is perfect for shopping and lot of food options around

Alexis Walker

The customer service is Awesome! Every employee I spoke with was polite and usefulIn terms of the room, I was disappointed I stayed on the second floor with my family, including our pet

On our way to the room, we noticed none of the doors open automatically The doors are heavy and none are open with a door stopper either I found it tiresome to constantly have to struggle opening the door and pushing my baby’s stroller through the doorwayThe cleanliness of the room was good-clean sheet, towels No bugs or anything either Overall, the rooms should be updatedAnother thing that made my stay difficult was the access to a microwave There are only two microwaves, which are located in front of the front desk, which is such an inconvenience Imagine being on one side of the hotel and having to constantly go to the front desk to use the microwave—food, sterilizing bottles, etc I think there should be a microwave on each floor for guestsBuffalo is my hometown, and I always wanted to stay at this hotel—meaning excited However, I feel this hotel was top notch and prime 5-10 years ago, but now it could use some updates

I’ve been coming here for a very long time If you stay for a few days you won’t regret itGood value overall Don’t listen to the negative reviews We had two rooms and they both were clean Location is great for people stuck on a canceled flight or something like that because the Galleria Mall is easy walking distance (Good food and shops)

Business travel and stayed for one night Check in was super easy and they let me check in way early, thank you!Staff was great all aroundBathroom was well stocked with basics, shower has shampoo/conditioner/body wash – super convenient!Front desk has extra personal toiletries they can provide for free

Definitely recommended!

Charlene A

My room was NOT clean The toilet seat hadn’t been cleaned from the guests before us! Thank goodness I brought my own Clorox Wipes! The POOL and the HOT TUB were out of service I got the room with the king bed and pull out sofa

It was a TINY room I paid $290 for this room, definitely NOT worth it! VERY disappointed!!!!!! The good, the lady who checked us in was wonderful! The shampoo, conditioner and body wash were all good quality That’s it Those two things were the only good things

Amanda Straka

The room was so clean! That was wonderful But the service was lacking The website says they have 24 hour airport shuttle, they don’t

It also said the have free local shuttle When I asked about getting a shuttle to the store a mile away I was told they could only take me one way and that I could walk I love walking, but didn’t have time The man at the front desk was weird and smug about it He acted confused and put out when I asked for a receipt when checking out Maybe that’s not standard anymore?? As in from when I last stayed in a hotel 7 days ago

Absolutely loved it Great location New, fresh, immaculate

Close to downtown Buffalo, the airport and Niagara FallsHighly recommend this hotelOnly complaint TV remote has no working guide or info on channels and programming Not a biggie but annoyingStaff is great at all service tiersSTAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!

Kim reid

Clean room, bed and everything Nice foyer, there is a restaurant in the building which is pretty pricey The food is great but not for the price and the wine is also expensive at the bar

The location was good except that leaving the parking lot can be a challenge since you are pulling out straight into traffic All in all I would stay there again but would like to experience different hotels in the area

This was probably the best hotel experience I have ever had The staff was amazing We asked them questions about must-see places and they delivered

The pool was closed for maintenance during our stay and they coordinated with another hotel for use of their pool The breakfast was great The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable

Sairam Rajagopalan

Pro – Very good location and was given a spacious 2 bed room for the stay Beds were goodHowever the maintenance within the room was bad, the bathroom shower handle came off many times The front desk did not have any DVDs

It was like a place which flourished once upon a time and now lost it Breakfast also was pretty limited in variety All over the hotel, there was some food smell (kitchen was provided but can’t understand how smell goes throughout) Had better expectations with IHG (am a member), seems only holiday inn has some standards maintained

The rooms were great and the hotel location was great But I don’t know when Marriott started using strong air freshening scents in their hotel but it was absolutely disgusting I am very sensitive to scents I could not use their elevators or go near the lobby and had to hold my breath in the hallways

I just do not get why anybody would do this not everybody likes the same scents even if you’re not sensitive I have always loved Marriott properties , so I’m hoping they change your policy on this

Rasheed Bennett

My stay was enjoyable, it would have been nice to have complimentary breakfast It is nice that they have the restaurant but it would be more enjoyable if it was open later in the night as well Upon my arrival my TV didn’t work

They switched my room and from that point on everything was smooth sailing So I can’t really say that I had any issues with the hotel Neither their best to accommodate me to the best of their ability

Ali

Driving for 6 hours and finally reaching the courtyard Marriott was the best feeling I was greeted by Aishya, a lovely student who was gracious and accommodating The room we had was on the 3rd floor and super clean with no issues

I had the pleasure of meeting Ravi, who was able to extend by checkout time I informed him that I’ll be staying here again since my child will be attending college in the area Ravi was also gracious and beyond hospitable Looking forward to coming back!

We were very pleased with this hotel The room was spacious and well-appointed, and the mini kitchen in particular was useful for us On our first day, we used the Hilton app to check in and unlock our room, which was convenient

The room was sanitized to our satisfaction and you have to explicitly ask for housekeeping services, which is great for those who don’t feel comfortable having others in their room Breakfast was included in the rate and was filling, although it’s the same fare everydayThe app did give us trouble unlocking the room on our third day, so we had to ask for room keys That and checkout were our only interactions with receptionOverall this was a great find and we’d recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable, modern, and reasonably priced hotel in the Buffalo area

Charles Walker

We really enjoyed our stay at Home2 Suites in Amherst Our room was large and well equipped with a whole range of appliances We had a full-sized fridge, a microwave, dishwasher and kitchen sink

You also get a full range of dishes if you want to eat in your room The beds were comfortable and we had a sofa pull out bed as wellI used the gym equipment and all machines were working and well maintained My sons swam in and enjoyed the poolBreakfast in the morning was lively and busy but you didn’t have to wait long to get a seat or food The food choices were typical of the modern travel hotelRecommended!

My friends and I just stayed here this past weekend We were visiting from Toronto and it was a great experience Rooms were clean, beds and pillows were super comfortable, breakfast was delicious, the pool was awesome and the customer service was the absolute best!We had the pleasure of dealing with both Kay and Sabrina and they were both amazing

They accommodated us from beginning to end I have never experienced exceptional customer service like this and I will definitely be returning again The manager was also terrific and very kind We had some car trouble when we checked out and he was so helpful Thank you so much! We will be seeing you guys soon

Chris Woodroffe

Upon checking in there was lots of parking and the check in process was quick We went to our room which is a good size for a typical hotel roomBreakfast was well tended too with more options then a typical HIE which was nice

The lady the tended to the buffet did a great jobIn terms of location the hotel is in an excellent spot right off the highway and close to Walden Galleria, many restaurants and other power/strip mallsWhat I like best about the HIE is that you exactly what your going to get with the brand

Neka79

We asked for an exec king room which is a very nice size, but we soon realized the bathroom was dirty Someone else’s hair was all over the bathroom floor I called the front desk and they apologized and moved us to a double queen exec, which is also a nice size room

However, this room was also dirty and we were too exhausted to look for another hotel, especially since a lot of hotels were already sold out First thing, my husband sat in the office chair and almost fell backward because the chair was in bad condition Both headboards were oily from other guests’ hair products Then the bathroom had a child’s handprint on the mirror, and there was a man’s shaven facial hairs surrounding the base of the sink faucet

We chose the Hampton Inn because unlike most hotels that offer two double beds, the Hampton offers two queen size beds – which makes for a much more comfortable sleep with 4 people in the room Additionally, they offer a 12pm checkout which is later than most hotels When traveling with kids, the later checkout time is most appreciated

Beds and bedding was clean and comfortable Breakfast in the morning was fine, although a little crowded Staff were very friendly and helpful which was refreshing A few items did need some attention: our bathtub drained slowly so by the time I was done showering the tub was almost full The bathroom fan didn’t work which made the room a little humid There was a ball of someone else’s dirty socks under the AC unit The pool was murky and greenish and really needs a proper shock treatment Nothing major All in all a good stay Would stay again

kortney marwood

The staff was very friendly and helpful We were not a fan of the sliding bathroom door as it didn’t block out sound from from the bathroom The room was on the small side for 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids)

The fridge was also pretty small, but these were minor things The pool was nice The breakfast was good and had a variety The wifi worked wellOur air conditioning died at 3 am The front desk clerk came up and tried to help us fix it, but it continued to blow hot air, so we turned it off The hotel was full so they could not offer us another room The manager was apologetic the next morning and reduced our bill substantially I think it was a fluke and they did their best to fix it

Karen Johnson

Really nice, clean facility Easy on/off from major highways, anything you could want or need nearby Nice buffet breakfast was included and honestly it was so nice to see thst small return to normal even though we only grabbed coffee

Front desk attendant was so nice Overall a good stayDownsidesyou’re near the airport so it is noisy; bathroom is small and has no place for your “stuff”; pool was small so if you’re traveling with a team (we were) be aware

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a peaceful and delightful hotel experience! Smooth check in process I was given a room furthest away from the elevator, as I requested prior to arriving The hotel was very clean and well kept

I felt very comfortable and welcome The complimentary breakfast was very adequate, filling and appetizing I did not get a chance to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi but I saw several groups of people enjoy it, even during late evenings, and it looked very clean and inviting! I should’ve brought my bathing suit Hotel is located next to Rite Aid which is very convenient Housekeeping did a good job as well Parking was complimentary and very easy as well I have no complaints and plan to stay here again next time I visit family in Buffalo Thank you to all the staff!

I give this hotel extra stars for their service during a Buffalo Bills game weekend! The staff was very friendly from the desk to cleaning people to the breakfast area staff I have not seen a hotel that has been functioning this well in a long time And thank you for having the famous Holiday Inn Express Cinnamon rolls!! I will definitely use this hotel again

Also, for others- they had a really nice pool area and fitness center I did not have the chance to use them, but they both looked really nice! Please like my review if you found it helpful

I was only staying 1 night, returned my rental and back to the hotel to catch a flight at 7 am the next morning I was very surprised at how quick they run their airport shuttle to and from the airport The receptionist is very helpful and courteous! I would definitely stay there next time again! The room is okay, not updated, but it has an interesting layout in the shower, it’s a good place to stay near the airport!

Megan Mitchell

This hotel was awful It’s probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, including budget hotels The shower was moldy, walls were dirty, refrigerator was dirty and moldy, things had not been dusted in quite some time and there were splatters on the headboard

There was also a urine smell in the bathroom and the tiles next to the toilet were stained from urine There was absolutely nothing for breakfast and we were told it was going to be at least 20 minutes until anything was ready (this was at 9:15am) We paid for breakfast through the room fee but then also had to find somewhere to eat and pay for breakfast again My husband travels for work and stays in hotels multiple times a week and said it was really badWe had 2 rooms and the maintenance worker asked if he could go up to our room when we were gone to see what was wrong with the door Eeeek!

This place is a stay away situation Booked my hotel and paid in full on my credit card over a month in advance Got an email from them less than 24 hours from checking in and a 1000 miles from home saying that they could not honor my reservation and they would only be issuing me a partial refund charging me a cancellation fee

When I spoke with they told me about their fluctuating rates and that I had a promo rate and I was bumped for a priority guest who was willing to pay a higher rate They told me that that very day they had bumped a single mother with 6 children, so my situation wasn’t as bad as theirs The attendant who was the night auditor lied to me and told me no manager would be in the building until 11am the next day I work in the industry and I know this a lie Messaged the location 5 different times and never received a message or call back This place is unprofessional and filled with people who lack integrity I was on vacation and a long way from home and this made things very stressful I have contacted corporate as well and no response Fortunately I was able to book with the Comfort Inn across the road and although the location was a little dated It was very clean and had kind caring professionals who worked there and it made a big difference

Our family stayed three nights at this hotel while visiting UB The room was spacious and comfortable The breakfast was good and the we enjoyed the amenities including the gym, the basketball hoop and sitting out by the firepit in the evening

The staff were all friendly and helpful We especially appreciated Darren who always had excellent restaurant recommendations for us We highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again when in the area

NYC Girl

I spent a generous amount of money to book at this place I asked for my room to be refreshed and for them to enter the room Upon check-in, the man at the front desk said that my rooms would, in fact, be refreshed by housekeeping

I believed him The next day, I went out for the day and came back—however, both of my rooms were not cleaned No towels were replaced It’s weird because the man at the check-in counter informed me that my rooms would be refreshedWhen I later inquired about it, he said that they are busy and could not even get me towels for another 1-2 hours I don’t want to be the difficult customer, but I am upset and VERY disappointed by this treatmentI have never stayed at a hotel (of any level or rating) who treated me like this I felt uncomfortable asking for anything else afterwards because I am not one to cause dramaThis definitely did not leave a good taste for me I will not be staying at this hotel again

This is absolutely not a 45 star hotelIt is a 3 star at the most

Look at the quality of the breakfast items Look at the quality of service Look at the quality of the front office Look at the items in the bathroomI would like to see this hotel immediately evaluated for it’s star rating—–I spoke to the manager, Matthew he assured me that the items of breakfast are under review, the staff is undergoing new training, and the housekeeping is re expanding to what it used to be Therefore I will amend my star rating to a 4 They deserve the benefit of the doubt

No microwaves in the room was a major inconvenience having to go downstairs to the lobby 2-3x/day to warm up food or water for tea Also, the decaf coffee and hot water were not replenished too often It appears maybe 1-2x then they’re just removed altogether

Also, there was this boys baseball team staying here Unfortunately they were quite loud as were some of the kids Running up and down the halls, letting doors slam behind them multiple times and this continued into the night from 10-11 pm They also made a mess in the hallway with chips on the floor, etc There needs to be better enforcement and rule regulation in situations like this Other than these things, it was a pretty good stay It’s a beautiful location and the overall decor is good
