First impression was jaw dropping! Beautiful and comfy lobby with spacious hang out spots, the staff is VERY accommodating, even the janitors on site were so sweet The room was very clean and cozy, our favorite was our private patio with the ocean view! Lots of activities during the day then at night we sat around the bonfire as we watched the sunset with other families! The restaurant on site was perfect, we got a lot to eat/drink and there was nothing we didn’t like! It was all great! Woke up to breakfast in bed before we put an end to our mini vacation We have found our go to spot! We never even had to leave the property everything you need is on site

We will be looking into having our wedding here 2023💗

Absolutely LOVE this place! This was my boyfriend and my second stay here The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly Rooms are private and well kept

Their cottages are very intimate Love the robes in the rooms The dining at their restaurant Salt Wood is exceptional! 10/10 recommend this place it is forever going to be our romantic getaway spot Thank you for our wonderful experience!

My husband and I were married here right on the beach, so it will always be a special place for us We’ve been looking for an opportunity to get away this summer, but with conflicting work schedules and family commitments, we are only able to stay one night The property is undeniably beautiful

We enjoyed the escape from the heat of the value and the views of the beach I love how they do fire pits on the beach each night Our room itself was fine Next time I think I’ll go for the suite because the room was a bit small for my liking I don’t like that there are not thermostats, so it’s difficult to keep a consistent temperature The bath tub was extremely slippery, but it did look as if there was a nonslip mat provided We did have one major disappointment My husband and I love a good, hot tub This is a huge thing we look for when traveling At home we keep our hot tub around 102° comfortably When we arrived in the afternoon, the hot tub was an okay temperature maybe a little cold for our taste, but when we decided to go again later in the evening it was a miserable experience The “cottages” are quite spread out, and it was freezing that evening! We fast walked our way to the hot tub and got right in only to realize the hot tub cool to the touchprobably around 85° Now soaking wet we froze our a**es off getting back to our room We were super disappointed and cold! In the morning I called to the front desk to double check that we didn’t go in after hours by mistake and to make sure it was hot in the morning They said it was good to go, but when we checked in the morning it was still cold 🙁 That was a huge bummer for us I’m not sure if it was a maintenance issue or if the cold outside weather and windchill was making it too cold Regardless, paying $500 for a basic room should at least include a hot tub that can stay hot I’d love to come back for the views and memories, but honestly, I probably won’t unless they fix the hot tub issue

I absolutely loved this hotel for our trip! I studied a LOT of past reviews to get a sense of what to expect and I’m glad I did: The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable If you can upgrade, I recommend it Our room fit a very comfortable bed and a stunning bathroom and it was PERFECT for me and my partner

There wasn’t a fridge which I expected, so I brought an ice chest which carried us over There is no AC, but you don’t need AC at the beach! If you are okay with noise (which we were), you can leave the windows open and feel cool just by that Breakfast was fantastic, and the staff were just as great I appreciate all the help, and will return here next time we are in Monterey It was an easy walk downtown or to Cannery Road 10/10

We spent 2 nights in the 1110 and it is a great hotel The staff are very helpful and communicative The breakfast was a highlight of the stay, we tried the pancakes, the scrambled eggs and the musli They were delicious

We also had dinner and drinks on the roof bar, the food was great again and competitive with other places The hotel is definitely on the way up and can only get better in my opinion Would definitely book again

Jesse Suarez

My first time in Monterey and I could not have been happier Staying at Hotel 1110 was perfect, easy to get to and located in a great area full of things to do and see The room was cozy and gave off a really good vibe, I felt so at home staying here

The people were just fantastic and the food was better than most hotels I’ve stayed at in the past Be sure to have a drink at the bar with others staying there and you’ll also enjoy great conversations

Myra Reyes

A lively yet cozy place for a short getaway Loved the amount of seating and lounge spaces My room was comfortable and spacious

I appreciated how close the hotel is to Carmel and Pacific Grove When we needed anything in our room, the service by staff was great They were warm, attentive, and quick Plenty of activities to keep yourself entertained hereThe only area for improvements is cleanliness of the lobby where the space is shared with all guests The water dispenser with fruit in the lobby was rarely filled during our stay, but there are other water stations around the hotel to fill up water bottlesAnother perk: From what I saw, it’s also a very family-friendly place

Rose Y

This location has been our quick weekend getaway for about twenty years Before Covid, it was in desperate need of updates, everything looked so outdated (but we still loved the staff, food, service and the amenities) It was such a pleasant surprise to see it completely remodeled

From the bedrooms, to the lobby/ restaurant/ coffee bar… We loved the cleanliness, the staff, food and just about everything about this hotel Beautiful fire pits, pools, golf course, table tennis and so many other things for people of all ages to enjoy As always, we loved our stay

Athan Rebelos

We had a great couple of nights in in mid December The weather was stormy, which we anticipated but our room along* the golf course was was attractive, clean and comfortable The staff was excellent

Check in was pleasant and accommodating We are and drank throughout our stay at the resort, the bartender was wonderful and we loved all the fire pits We enjoyed the hot tub furthest from the lobby, it’s more secluded and there were no childrenOverall we had a refreshing stay and would recommend this resort to anyone who just wants a comfortable and refreshing break

Incredible view, so relaxing! We had a wonderful last minute trip here We were able to slow down, watch the sunset, spot otters from our room, and enjoy the fireplace! 10/10 would recommend to locals and tourists alike It was also thoughtful that they had a microwave in the common room so we could heat up food we brought with us!

Dock Holiday suite Comfortable beds Great water pressure

Great kitchenette (with full sized fridge and oven/stove) Very very very clean The couches are beautiful, but not comfortable for long-term lounging, but that’s OK because there’s a bunch of cool stuff to go do/eat/look at Easy to go get to, central to everything Nice owners/staff AMAZING landscaping Would definitely stay here again

Matthew Millett

This place was really amazing! A quiet inn in a quiet fishing town Very relaxing We stayed in Pelican Beach

Having a view from our room to the Salinas River was great All sorts of wildlife to enjoy including seals, otters, pelicans, and other birds Binoculars were provided which was fun The bed was nice, I slept really well No shower, but there was a shower hose in the large tubI was a little concerned that there was nobody onsite, but it ended up being a non-issue I was able to communicate with management via text with any questions that came up They were very responsiveSome snacks were provided free in the shared dining area But otherwise, we had to go to the nearby restaurants which were very close Just note that everything is closed by 7pm, so don’t plan to walk to a restaurant after thatOverall, this was a really great place to stay and we’ll hopefully come back Thanks!

Stayed at The Old Monterey Inn over this last weekend with my husband for a romantic getaways from our busy day to day Arriving at the inn I felt like I was transported to another world The grounds are spectacular and the inn itself is stunning

There was ample parking and the inn is away from any main roads making it quiet and peaceful We stayed in the Dovecote room on the third floor and the room was stunning From the ivy covered window to the cozy bed the whole room felt so welcoming and peaceful The breakfast each morning was delicious and delivered right to our room The Innkeeper Wendy was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed I highly recommended staying at this beautiful inn

Greg Wheeler

Where to start? That’s easy Wendy, the manager, was stupendously gracious in making us, my wife Linda and me, welcome and getting us set up in our room The inn is old and well kept – again to Wendy

The gallery does a nice job of giving you a picture of things The gardens are great to walk around and a fantastic place to have the daily wine and cheese – thanks again Wendy Breakfast in the dining room was definitely something to write home about – one of the best we’ve had, and we have stayed at a lot of inns So what can I say? If inns are your thing (even if they are not), a stay at the Old Monterey Inn will be utterly enjoyable!

E Tadeo

A must stay if you are plan to visit the Monterey Bay area Charming with an old world style, this quaint bed and breakfast is a great place to stay after a busy day of touring the area It is centrally located to Carmel, Pacific Grove and downtown Monterey

The Inn is tucked away from the hustle and bustle There grounds are perfect to have afternoon wine and cheese, read a book, have a cup of tea or just watch the deer that visit The cozy common area is a nice place to read a book by the fire when the Monterey fog rolls in The rooms are pleasantly decorated and comfortable The breakfast was tasty and filling and just the right amount to start you off on your day of adventure Wendy, the Inn keeper is kind and friendly She is truly the hidden gem of the Inn

Laurie Rich

I was excited to stay here after booking with a very nice gentleman on the phone who was very helpful in my room choice The property is lovely, the view is beautiful, the beds and pillows were comfortable, and the staff are very nice and welcoming It’s first come, first serve, on nearby street parking

They have 3 very small parking spots on-premise, but my large Tesla wouldn’t fit in one I was very disappointed to learn no one would help me with my bags If you’re paying over $700/night all in, you expect valet service, even if they cannot enter your room given their COVID protocol Also, you’ll not receive maid service, which they state on their website and let me know when checking in My room appeared clean at first glance; however, I noticed hairs on the bathroom floor in numerous places that were not my color/size (and I hadn’t been in the bathroom at that point) and also hairs on the left sitting chair by the window There were enough hairs on the bathroom floor/baseboard that I felt like it just hadn’t been cleaned properly and didn’t feel comfortable taking a shower the next morning I went to the complimentary breakfast the next morning and was not impressed For the high prices they charge for rooms, you expect higher standards I checked out early and wasn’t asked if I enjoyed my stay or anything else I believe they might have generated an auto text after I left, but that’s really not the same as being personally asked I left very disappointed and felt overcharged for what I received

Trish Equinoa

This place is wonderful! The grounds are very well maintained and the accommodations are so comfortable The location was perfect, it was about a 20 minute walk to Cannery Row from the inn which goes by fast because the walk is so easy and gorgeous We came here to get away for the weekend and I couldn’t have come home more refreshed

It was exactly what I needed 😊❤️

Jim Hytken

Superb bed and breakfast More like a very small intimate hotel The room that we stayed at was right next to very good street parking so we only had a few steps to get to get to our room

PROs:Well furnished room with upscale decorationsNo TV (relaxing)Excellent staff and helpfulBeautiful groundsOutstanding full breakfastMuch better than any hotel I have visitedWalking distance to restaurant and running walking pathCONs:No TV (if you really want one)Small room (but perfect for a couple)A bit priceyStreet parking for the most part (easy parking though)All in all worth a return visit if I’m in the area

If you are looking for a nice ocean view, don’t stay here All you hear is very loud road noise, no ocean waves even at night You have the view of a little lake/pond beyond the busy road below and a tiny bit of the ocean in the distance

For $350 per night on a Monday, it’s not worth the money The shower curtain does not fully contain the water so you will have an additional pond on the floor Oh, and don’t slide the pocket door all the way closed in the bathroom or you won’t get out It gets stuck I wanted to sit on the balcony and enjoy the “view” but it was just too noisy and I don’t mean crashing waves And the coffee in the room was stale and nastyagain at $350 per nightnoThe breakfast was good but again the coffee not representative of what one would expect for $350 per night The customer service was impeccable and the room was clean and comfortable but I can get that at a Hampton for way less money I’m thankful for the excellent customer service which is non-existent these days as the front desk rep took us to see the potential upgrade before upgrading It was a downgrade for me unless I had a few more people with me and needed two bedrooms The view was non-existent

Visiting the aquarium and expected to pay up for weekend rates because of the area Experienced pros and cons hereBooked two separate 2 double beds with pullout sofa for party of 10

All double beds were terrible and sunk in like a deep valley in the middle One suite didn’t have the security latch to stop door from opening in, while the other did Pullout sofa is fine for kids, not adults Weak water pressure for showers but the water was hot Loved the extra air purifiers in rooms inlight of the pandemic but don’t know how well maintained they were as far as changing out filters Ac worked wellFree parking and breakfast buffet as expected from Embassy Suites Big, open parking lot is a plus Staff bussing tables and dishes were awesome and quick at cleaning tables and clearing dishes They deserve a raise Plenty of food at buffet consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, apple, and orange Coffee drinkers in my group all said the Starbucks branded coffee was weak and watery Love the Minute Maid juice machine, especially the passion fruit juice Breakfast buffet seating is limited with our group size and avoid 8-9 am if you want a seat even if you have a smaller party Made to order omelettes, eggs and pancakes was a long wait with 12 people in front of me Both cooks were great and got all of the orders correct Management needs to provide more help with the rush It wasn’t worth the wait as my party had to wait for me to finish eatingOn side note, Hotel staff should either tell guests or have signs that show buffet setup has 2 serving lines Everybody was lining up on inside line with the bread facing the seating area but there was another serving line with the dry cereal and hot oatmeal that was completely empty I happened upon it while wandering around after my party had already got food and sat down to eat

Update: I’ve been here for over two weeks I haven’t seen the homeless issue again since the manager dealt with it That’s good enough for me

Really enjoyed my stay We were here for our work and anniversary Happy memories made Adding a star for management dealing with the homeless issue************Original ReviewPros: I’m currently staying here Mostly, it is great The customer service at the front desk is top of the line Excellent buffet breakfast also with omelets and avocado toast (certain days), and fresh pancakes made to order The chef, Jose, goes the extra mile to get the omelet perfect for me The rooms are nice They have chromecast so we can watch our channels and recordings from home From some rooms one can enjoy the ocean viewCons: Last night, a homeless person parked their basket between the two sets of glass doors and he was sitting in the main area and employees were permitting it We walked in and I started gagging and gagging from the stench I have a very sensitive stomach to bad smells He’s the same guy who looks into our vehicles in the parking lot There are a few other homeless who hang around the front entrance and parking lot, too Very unsafe for women or children to be alone I am very disappointed this is permitted I want to feel safe here and not gag when I walk in the front door

I got a two bedroom + non-smoke + breakfast included room The mattresses were nice, but everything else was subpar The front desk was supposed to be open at 7 am, but no one was there until 7:15 ish, which was unprofessional

The wifi did not work for a bit, so I called the front desk, who fixed it after an hour Still, the internet was slow The most disappointing part was the breakfast The breakfast was just a brown bag filled with 2 regular granola bars, an apple, and something like a Fig Newtons, with blueberry jam instead Save yourself from paying for the breakfast — instead with that money, go to a nearby McDonald’s for better quality and portions

Hotel is in good location, easy access to near by attractions Rooms are okay, clean, a bit old and nothing special Parking is 15$, continental breakfast (very limited choices, just bread and cereal) is 10$, menu breakfast is 16$

Customer service is poor, no special preferences to gold member in terms of the accommodation, upgrades, connecting rooms etc even after putting a special request before coming in I understand rooms are sold out, but I requested connecting room 2 days before coming in, and they didn’t put any effort in accommodating that I would suggest to check-in in hilton honors app and select rooms of your choice upfront and don’t rely on staff for any special accommodations

I’m someone who NEVER writes reviews unless they are positive, but this one really got me Listen to all the bad ones below and save your money Yes it’s on the beach but it’s still not worth the cost

I’m someone who loves a fancy hotel and can still appreciate a motel 6, but I feel robbed and duped This place is dirty, still smells of smoke, couldn’t even be bothered to replace the shower curtains (this was obviously a different, older hotel previously) or clean the bathroom vents The beds are uncomfortable, the door had been sloppily fixed and painted so I had to literally SLAM it to close properly I called the front desk to find out where I could locate the room service menu and was told I had to come down to the bar to retrieve it So I called room service and he told me how to find it online Ordered room service but they couldn’t fill our cocktail order (“we only have very basic beverages here”, so had to go to the bar which was a pretty far jaunt) For the price I paid to stay at a “resort”, I expected a little more The food was good, nothing disappointing about it but obviously way overpriced All in all, my husband summed it up best, “a polished turd” I wish we had just stayed at The Holiday Inn (where we usually stay when we travel), but this place seemed like a nice splurge as we were passing through town (we were only here one night) IT WAS NOT So mad I wasted my money here

Reserved the premium oceanfront room at this hotel for three nights Checked in and the lobby was nice, just like the photos on their website That’s where the truth in advertising ends

There were only two elevators and only one worked No problem Get to our room that was advertised as having panoramic views and it’s completely false advertising Our room had one window If this room was premium I’d hate to see the other rooms The door latch looked like it had previously been kicked in and sloppily replaced The straw was when I pulled back the bedspread to Lysol the bed and there was a spot on the sheets that looked like blood Blood We left and checked into the Hyatt for a total of about $50 more Read the reviews carefully The location of being right next to the ocean might be nice, but not worth it

Bob S

Great location, love that you can walk directly on to the beach just yards away from your room Rooms are ok, wished they had a microwave in the roomsPrices are a little on the high side and they don’t provide complimentary breakfast or coffee (they have small coffee pot in the room I wouldn’t use)

Also look for hidden fees like parking$20 Great place for walking on the beach We always find ourselves going back once a year Also is dog friendly 🐶

We were in the older building 222 so not as plush as we were led to believe However we had requested a kitchenette unit – the main building has none It was set for two people

A hot plate with two burners, two plates, cups, bowls, knives, forks spoons, steak knives, a pot and fry pan, spatula, big spoon, can opener, bottle opener and a small fridge Basic, but all there clean and functional Only one chair at the counter, plus office chair at the desk and a comfy chair for relaxation and TV watching A queen bed and 50’s solid wood furniture and two unremarkable pictures finish the decor 14 feet high ceilings creat huge empty wall spaces that makes it feel rather utilitarian The staff are pleasant and helpful The on site pub seems lively and cheerfully relaxed It’s a place to meet and get something to eat as well, although we didn’t have the opportunity to eat on site The restaurant is closed on Sundays We were on vacation so sleeping in and missing the cooked breakfasts was the norm for us There is only one gate functioning It’s open 24 hours Turn in is opposite 900 Sloat

We were very impressed by the Navy Gateway Inn The hotel has been nicely renovated but still has lots of interesting history and it’s a beautiful building The staff was very friendly and welcoming

The rooms are very nice, clean, and comfortable While there is no AC, we were able to cool the rooms with the outside breeze and the ceiling fan We would definitely recommend and come back again

Molly Lolly

The historic Hotel Del Monte is a gem on the Naval Postgraduate School campus Close to all parts of NPS The suite rooms are spacious for a family of 3

The included kitchenette is nice when you’re tired of paying tourist prices at restaurants The lack of AC is frustrating considering there are other hotels in the area with it The hotel has obviously been modernized and updated at some point so the money and effort should be put in to add AC since it’s needed more days than not despite the cooler temperatures outside The included breakfast is good most days Some days it’s a bit disappointing when they’ve run out of things or the eggs are way too watery Though the fact there’s always a hot option is appreciated

Very well done lodging Everything is clean, EVERYBODY is incredibly kind and the views are amazing You can hear the waves crashing on the beach when it’s quiet and you can wake up and go straight to shopping on cannery row

The breakfast in the morning is super nice and just goes to sure how far they’re willing to go The copper accents in the elevator and in the roof are amazing and really brings out the history in the building It’s a beautiful place and I would go back in a heart beat

Laurene Baldridge

An enchanting beach getaway that will make your wishes come true We stayed in a king size, Ocean view, all-accessible room on the second floor They do have an elevator, which is nice

There was a couple of chairs in front of the fireplace and a welcome note, along with a bottle of wine and chocolates for our Anniversary The bed was very comfortable, with cozy bedding As we sat at our windowseats, overlooking the bright blue Pacific Ocean, eating our delicious complementary breakfast, we were so happy And at our decision of choosing this unique boutique Inn

James Barrett

My wife and I wanted to spend a weekend away We chose the Spindrift Inn based on the reviews We wanted an ocean front hotel

We chose the deluxe king bed corner unit because we wanted to splurge and stay somewhere nice Check in was easy, and we got to our room (201) ready to enjoy the view Little did we know, the “corner” view was of an wall, and an antenna tower Plus, I felt like we walked into my aunt’s parlor “Boutique” doesn’t mean shabby Old furniture, poorly constructed bed canopy, water stains on the bathroom counter Also, the dumpsters for the restaurant are on the same side (west) as our room Noise and smellOn a positive note, the old chairs were comfortable, which was good because we spent most of the weekend sitting in the chairs enjoying the ocean view The breakfast was good, but 30 minutes late both days

I booked my room on Expedia and the room itself was MUCH smaller than in the photos I stayed 2 nights and it was not a great restful sleep My neighbors were loud, the desk clerk called them but still they continued

The upstairs bedrooms have a SKYLIGHT above the bed, so WAKE UP- THE SUN IS UP Ugh Also, the blinds didn’t really black out the parking lot lights and the road noise was really presentBummer If you were staying further back I’m sure it would be lovely

Tara Bell

Beautiful, spacious and updated rooms The staff were a bit hard to talk to or find at times And the room was cold with no heating, which isn’t a big deal for most of the year but we were there at the end of winter

The breakfast was terrible, just a grab bag with yogurt, granola bar and squished muffins Overall it’s a beautiful hotel and I wouldn’t mind staying again if the breakfast was improved

Teresa D

Pros:Room inside was tastefully renovated, including vinyl flooring instead of yucky carpetComplimentary fluffys were a very nice touchClose to freewayCons:Rooms do NOT get serviced during stay (still using the “for your safety” excuse)

YET not one employee wears face coverBreakfast is a joke Expext a paper bag with a granola and a juice, and maybe an apple unless they run outBed was extremely firm, could not get a good night sleep for the life of meBalcony was shared with room next door, not allowing us to keep curtains open for lack of privacy And for that reason we didn’t even get to use itI really wish their description was not so deceiving, when searching for a room I specifically searched for breakfast and free parking (pretty basic stuff) and this place popped up I would hardly call what they offer here breakfast and while they renovated recently, they clearly skipped on replacing the mattresses because the one we slept on was very uncomfortable Front desk staff was nice but I would never stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone

Great experience with the Navy Lodge Monterey! Wife and I were taking a road trip from San Diego and decided we wanted to stay the night Called around 4pm and was given a reservation for the same night no problem Check in was easy, room was very nice and the price was more than acceptable

Great overall experience from start to finish!

Paul Camp

Would like to review a stay, but that would mean I would need to be able to put in a reservation This location only lets you put in a reservation 30 days in advance Well, I did that this morning (30 days prior to arrival)

all sold out How do you plan to stay at this location if you can’t get a reservation? Would have certainly reserved the room earlier, if allowed

Joseph Grimison

This tough to review, because if you need to stay in a hotel like this there are few other options The cons- First, after booking 3 months in advance, my reservation was changed to a single room “by the DOD” The front desk was able to change it back to a suite since one was available

Second, it’s under construction Third, the walls are very thin- we could clearly hear every word of the softly spoken neighbors conversation We heard ever rolling luggage that was pulled across the tile floor- every time The outside play ground is marked off as “unsafe” The bathtub didn’t drain so I stood in my own soup each night (this was fixed the day after I left this review- I should have addressed this with the staff before leaving the review) No oven, only stove top and microwaveThe pros at $140/night it’s the cheapest thing that has a kitchenette It’s big enough for a month stay Breakfast was a bagel and a fruit cup in a togo bag each morning Internet works and cable was nice Pretty clean, and a good size Parking was reasonable even with all the construction trucks aroundIf you don’t have kids, consider DM on NPS, if you need the kitchen then you have no choiceEdit-Updating to say that the staff here is very kind and has made this long stay nice From the cleaning personnel to the front most experiences have been good

Came here for business and was impressed! Room was big and everything was good Bed was good the only reason why not 5 stars is because the pillows I had to buy my own but other than that it was nice breakfast had good options, was very quiet

Pool was under renovation which seems to be the theme these days with all hotels but I was too busy to care Staff was great as well! They also have overnight security that’s kind of required for Salinas!

Valerie Perez

Customer service was excellent I called early asking if we could get into our room earlier than check-in and they called me when it was ready Super friendly & helpful staff

We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite and it was clean and large The breakfast was good & the breakfast area was nice, clean, and well organized I normally stay in higher end hotels but this seemed like the nicest hotel in the area and I was impressed with how nice it was!

Dawn Stern

The value for money is way off Service and staff very sweet Accommodations under construction so pool and gym closed

Hotel is loud Could hear snoring and bathroom visits through walls But, to raise the price nearly double over Memorial Day weekend is unconscionable especially when elevator was broken, construction noise began early and hotel wasn’t finished with renovations My husband is a veteran and we could’ve used some peace and quiet this weekend but it wasn’t to be found here

Clean comfy rooms, excellent service and perfect, centralized location! Staff is very friendly and love dogs Service is excellent and helpful to answer questions about the area The outside dining for their restaurant is super nice looking with the fire

It’s a step down into a patio and privacy is additionally provided by plants and arbour Pool is clean and warmed around 81F They have a little grass section with provided doggy bags from a dispenser though you can freely walk your pet anywhere There are complimentary ice makers outside nearby rooms The area is very safe, we walked around the city at night, lots of options for eating near by! We will come again though may opt for a bigger room
