I stayed at Shady Spruce back in 2015 and had such a pleasant stay that I knew I wanted to stay here again while passing through the area I was not disappointed! The hostel is set up a little differently with COVID but it’s still super clean, modern, comfortable, quiet, and full of thoughtful touches I loved being able to take the free bikes out to town–the location is great

I definitely recommend staying here

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Amazing location (right around corner from best cafe / grocer in downtown), easy check-in, friendly staff, most affordable option for a private suite (with a private entrance!) They have cruiser bikes to explore town, the river trail, and local hikes (5 min bike to The L!) Clean, spacious shared areas, with acoustic guitars, coffee/tea, large shared fridge/pantry, and lovely shady outdoor area, both of which I took advantage of

Elevated a short stay to a really magical experience, making memories in Missoula for a first-time visitor Don’t hesitate!

Terence Shelly

The location is incredibly close to downtown all the good coffee shops, restaurants and bars The kitchen was fully stocked and the bathrooms were very well kept! They were also very accommodating with my last minute travel plans Will definitely keep this place in mind for the next visit, especially shows cause the Wilma and the top hat are just 4-5 blocks away!

Super impressed with Staybridge Suites Very clean and very nicely decorated (both the lobby and the actual room) Highly recommend, especially given the kitchen in the room

Definitely nice when you want something low-key for dinner or want to eat healthier/save some money while on the road — just use the kitchen in the room! The hotel was such high quality that I felt I was getting a bargain on the price — definitely a great feeling! Also, loved the fire pit outside!

Overall, this was the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at I’ll start off the the only flaw: central AC Our room had a private bedroom with a door that shut from the living area, which is where the thermostat was

We adjusted the thermostat before bed and then in the middle of the night when we woke up sweating It just couldn’t cool the roomNow the positives: everything was so clean and nice, soaps were all filled, the cleanliness of the overall hotel was great We visited the billiards room and played and that was a fun escape In addition to that, there was also free beer and wine and being on a 26 hour road trip with a two year old is stressful so it was nice to come downstairs and talk to people at the social, have some cookies, and have a drink The staff were very welcoming and greeted us every time we walked in into the building ALSO the breakfast bar had FRESH FRUIT That’s something I’ve never seen before and finally a breakfast my toddler would eatAgain, I can’t stress enough, this is a VERY clean and nice hotel Normally we stay at others but for this particular night in our road-trip adventure it was the cheapest However, we will now aim to look for these hotels as we found they fit our style and wants the best

We went on a road-trip to Montana from California and this hotel was by far our favorite hotel! The staff was super friendly, the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable The free breakfast (from 6:30-10:30) was hands down the best we’ve ever had with fresh scrambled eggs that were out of this world Everyday someone from the kitchen staff would talk to me and my husband, I could tell they take pride in what they prepare

They also offered free beer/wine and some sort of appetizer (when I went it was braised chicken thighs and broccoli) from 5:30-7:30 The kitchenette was fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, plates, glasses, salt/pepper, coffee maker with creamer and sugar packets They also had complimentary popcorn and teas to choose from I didn’t realize the kitchenette would also have an electric stove top! I never used the pool or spa because there were always people in it when I wanted to use it But I did use their fitness room which had 1 bike, an elliptical (what I used) and 2 treadmills with a couple weight benches and weights They also offer complimentary washer and dryers right off the workout room so you can throw in a load and by the time you finish working out the laundry is done! With that said, that place can get very busy because I think everyone else has the same idea You do need to provide your own laundry soapwhich I brought along tide pods but they have detergent and dryer sheets available for $1/each Ohand check out isn’t until noon! The ONLY complaint I have is their walls are paper thin Just bring some ear plugs or buds (which I always do when traveling) and you’ll be good and not even notice when sleeping I definitely recommend this hotel if you are planning to visit Missoula!

No place to put suitcases in the rooms No foldable luggage holder and no furniture that was a good spot for them This used to be a relatively uncommon situation and I wouldn’t have put it in a review because it was a rare inconvenience

However, it seems to be a new trend as more and more hotels are doing this It is now, officially, a pet peeve of mineI would rather have a place to put suitcases than have a giant TV in every room Especially when the walls are thin enough that you can hear what people are watching in the living room and watching something else in a bedroom becomes a war of competing noisesThe other issue we had was with the internet provided by the hotel It was acceptable until it randomly quit working We stayed multiple nights and the internet would work for a few hours, then stop for a few hoursOther than this, the hotel itself was a good place to get a decent night’s sleepThe staff was friendly The soundproofing between the suites was good enough that we didn’t hear our neighbors The beds were comfortable and the linens were washed in detergents without fragrances The bar soap had a mild fragrance that faded quickly enough that I could use it in spite of my being sensitive to most perfumes and fragrances The liquid soaps provided in the shower, however, had a very strong scent and I was glad to have brought my own cleaning products for that

Victoria Butler

This is a great location, but do be warned that Reserve St traffic can be rough I strongly encourage going out to the light to cross trafficThe hotel itself is nice, but a bit dated (based on the furniture choices)

I loved that the staff decorated the lobby for Halloween And That was a nice touch, and something we don’t always see The pictures throughout the hotel really put you in the mood for Montana, which was niceOverall, the rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable The staff is exceptional and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome We did not get a chance to use the pool, but I understand it is heated which is a bonus for year-round useI would stay here again

Misti Kallis

Very clean and quiet rooms The staff are all very friendly and helpful I love that they are a dog friendly hotel

I have stayed plenty of times and you wouldn’t even know there were any other dogs around except for passing them in the halls Another reason to say very clean and quiet inside and out Great location, just ask the staff a better way to get across Reserve St to head south

Very new and very nice hotel right in downtown Missoula Although the bedroom with a king size bed was maybe on the smaller side, it didn’t matter It was so well appointed, excellent bedding and curtains and decor

Decor The bathroom was incredibly clean with brand new fixtures I was on the 5th floor Floor It was fairly quiet Although a little bit of construction across the street The staff was incredibly helpful, I stored a bike downstairs and valet-ed my truck, all very well taken care of Of The bar on the ground floor was very nice, excellent bartender and excellent choice of wine, beer and etc Whole experience was reasonably priced although stayed in January so potentially the prices were lower

Da Das

I must say that the AC Hotel by Marriott took me by surprise The complimentary breakfast is amazing and NOT your typical complimentary breakfast – I was able to get scrambled cage free fresh eggs with vegetables and gluten free bread, fresh strawberry preserves, etc The breakfast layout was very well presented

The rooms are very nice and hotel inside – WOW Do not let the outside fool you Excellent guest service at a Forbes and 5-Star Mobil rating Well done team

Beth Weismann

Clean, efficient rooms with everything you need, great service from everyone Lobby bar has excellent bartenders with great local info and recommendations Incredible location, the best restaurants and bars easily walkable

The parking is less than optimal, but that seems to be common in that part of Missoula Would definitely stay again

This is more of a motel than a hotel Cigarette butts all over the parking lot Sketchy individuals in the hallways, the lobby and parking lot

I would not recommend for women traveling alone or for families with children Room prices are very high considering the very low quality of this “hotel” We will never stay at another My Place Hotel

Levi Bessette

Jessica is the most phenomenoal customer service representative Besides the fact she literally is upholding multiple positions, she does so out of the most sincere desire to genuinely help others She’s very kind and helpful, atop of extremely knowledgeable and makes conversation feel extremely natural

The hotel is extremely clean and well kept and all amenities are always fully stocked From the parking lot to the rooms the place is immaculate

This staff just made me want to stay a Hilton member for life From check in, to leaving, it was just easy and friendly Us California folks were thrilled with everything and rooms were up to standard

Only complaint is you can only win $800 next door on the slots 10/10 we will be back! Hats off to the everyone there Conference staff was exceptional too The gentleman running the show can come work for us anytime What a great team all around 👏 🙌

Nancy Boyce

I’m truly baffled by the number of bad reviews for this hotel and to be honest, I was nervous about staying here due to them However, I found the HGI to be a perfectly adequate 3 star hotel with friendly staff members who ensured it was a comfortable stay It’s not a luxury hotel by any stretch (perhaps folks had those expectations?) but the rooms are clean and spacious, they have nice amenities/appear to be renovating, and they are in a quiet and convenient location

The staff are lovely and were able to accommodate my travel schedule requiring an early check in and late check out, which I sincerely appreciated 2 suggestions for improvement: 1) blackout drapes that can fully shut since the rooms do get bright and 2) full-length mirrors in rooms

Vic Goochey

We had a confirmation in hand and charges have been made against our credit card Imagine our surprise when we walked in at 1 AM and were told they had given our room to someone else I can’t imagine how this is OK but Hilton seems to think it is

They were very nice about sending us down the road to try to find another room Oh, we are Hilton honors members What an honor it is

What a great hotel! I was in Missoula on business and was intrigued that this hotel was marketed as close to the river It is right next to the river! Such a beautiful setting! My room did not overlook the river, but I highly recommend requesting a room with a river view My room had 2 very comfortable queen beds, a nice TV, a chair with a foot stool and a workspace with a chair

The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower and a rain shower head There was also a large closet that could hold many days worth of clothes The balconies all had outdoor chairs and a small tableThe restaurant, Finn, has delicious wood-fire pizza and beautiful rivers views whether you’re inside the restaurant or out on the deck A beautiful walking/biking trail is right across the river from the hotel They also provide shuttle service to and from the airport The staff was friendly and don’t forget the yummy, warm cookiesI highly recommend the Doubletree!

Angie Weinberger

From the moment I walked in I felt very comfortable at the Doubletree in Missoula The river view rooms are amazing I will miss falling asleep to the sound of the river

Super friendly service for airport shuttle, later checkout, room service came right when I scheduled it Very clean and spacious room, very warm A lot of wood which to some might seem dated No issues with the WiFi Even the pool and hot tub area where inviting Clean, plenty of towels If I had to think of something I could criticize it would be the fitness room It is small and hot I didn’t use it, just got myself some water That being said you can probably turned up the AC, jump on a treadmill and be happy I will definitely stay here again when in Missoula

Traci Lapworth

My family and I were taking a road trip, booked this hotel months ago, called to confirm many times and even the day of, even a few hours before to confirm our booking We showed up, and they sold our rooms and didn’t have anything to accommodate us with This has happened to us multiple times with Hilton

Your guests shouldn’t have to deal with this because the staff made an error If an error was made it needs to be fixed right away and the guests should be accommodated appropriately for the staffs errors I won’t even bring in the status of membership because that doesn’t matter, rooms shouldn’t be sold to other guests if they’re booked beforehand without discussion and a backup ideal plan

It was fine for a Motel 6! Staff was very nice Building has thin walls and ceilings so you can hear EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) happening in the hall and other rooms It’s also very no frills, shampoo and conditioner needs to be picked up at the front desk, no hair dryer, but a good place to crash for the night on a long drive!

Jacqueline Bullen

I hadn’t booked ahead and after going round other hotels in Missoula, was concerned I’d be sleeping in the car for the night The woman who checked me in was amazing! I actually got the last room and she mentioned the AC wasn’t working in the room but I’d be welcome to take the room if I didn’t mind I don’t have AC at home so it doesn’t really bother me

She found me a fan and gave my dog a treat which made Dray’s day! The hotel was clean, simple, comfortable and pet friendly Would return again!

I want to give this place more stars but can’t Location and rooms were really nice but I’m upset with our experience My husband and I are on our way home from a 2 week camping trip and decided to splurge and get a hotel on our final night

We wanted a good night’s sleep I booked in person at the hotelUnfortunately, they put us in a room right off the lobby and it was a busy weekend with a wedding People were partying and occupying the lobby until midnight I called to request quiet hours and the person just told me they were leaving soon I watched the hotel staff serve them drinks until 11pm Then I was woken up at 7 am by the noise of the lobby filling up There was also very loud stomping above our roomWe checked out at 10ish When asked how our stay was I told the employee it was really loud She then said well as an IHG member you can make preference choices online I booked in person and no one asked me about preferences And either way who pays $300 for a room expecting it to be loud??? She then said she’d put points into my account I was too upset to even respond She gave me 3,000 points Which is like $20??Really unfortunate experience for us Just sucks

What a concept Surround a bunch of hot tubs with rooms and balconies My kid thought this was the greatest thing of all time

Had a great timeRooms are clean The breakfast was one of the best on the road trip I will come here again next time we are rolling through Missoula

Thomas Conley

My wife and I rented a room here for our son’s birthday party We have thrown other parties for his sister here in the past and have always had a good experience This time however there was a misunderstanding concerning the room we thought we were getting

After the woman at the front desk was very rude to my wife and even hung up on her while she was trying to resolve the matter, I spoke with the hotel manager and he explained where the confusion occurred and was very helpful in resolving the issue Everyone at the hotel with the exception of one desk clerk was very friendly and helpful during our stay

We traveled half way across the country, stayed at several hotels in varying price ranges This one was by far the nicest The rooms were clean and spacious

Housekeeping left a note wishing us a great stay and they had a poem in the room that wished visitors safe travels The staff at The front desk was super friendly and even stayed extremely respectful and understanding while dealing with a disgruntled customer My significant other is a veteran and I appreciate the respect this hotel has for its veterans They have a nice pool that the kids enjoyed Their breakfast was amazing even offering fresh fruit They had staff available at all times in the breakfast area to help with anything you needed It was a great experience and would definitely recommend you stay here on your way through Montana

Alex Leutenegger

The breakfast food was really tasty The staff was amazing Especially the young man who staffed the breakfast area was one of the nicest employees I’ve ever met

The pool and hot tub were large The sauna was great The rooms were nice and big and clean All the pictures and decor was up today and modern looking Overall it was a great hotel

Jen D.

Excellent breakfast, including self-serve options of gluten-free Udi’s bagel and genuinely fresh fruit (watermelon, halved grapefruits, whole bananas, and more) with a server on-site to whisk away empty plates, wipe tables, and mop up spillsRoom was recently updated Beautiful mirrors with a large full length one near the bathroom door

The bathroom itself, as other reviews mentioned, is very tiny–knees knock at the door while on the toilet However, the handicap rail in the shower is sturdy and blends right in nicely Large shower head that has good water pressure like a modern buildingTesla charging station near the front of the parking lot Several were parked and chargingHotel pool is large enough to put in some laps, and the steep up-hillside view through the window is private and breathtaking Tiny hot tub, but it was a good, warm temperatureThe breakfast is most worth noting! Definitely good to wake up toAlso, check-in staff late in the night was kind enough to help get a piece of fruit before I went up to bed So nice! Friendly!

We checked in on 7/9/2022 To do so we had to follow the temporary signs outside which directed us to the back door The “Front Desk” was located in one of the rooms on the first floor

(No discount on the price of the room due to the construction, but we were okay with that)The room was very nice and we were very happy with it That night, after an exhausting day of travel, we got a 4am Wake-up call We did NOT request a wake-up call The alarm clock went off at 6am We thought the previous guests were jerks that had planned that fun In the morning hubby took a shower It flooded the entire bathroom Hubby found the issue, stuffed the hole with a wadded piece of plastic wrap from a cup It didn’t flood after that When he told the “Front Desk” she said, “245?” She said that had been reported weeks ago That night we got another 4am wake-up call and determined we will never stay there again

Suzanne Ronge

I started and review but didn’t get to finished So along with the horrible staff No air conditioner no hot water

There also was the slowest wifi ever Which made it really hard to do my work The pool had horrible hours 7-9:30 at night and that’s it And you had to make sure your name was on the list If we hadn’t booked the way we did and the rest of the hotels weren’t full I would Of found a better hotel Where everything we were paying for worked and they actually had great customer service I’m still shocked and blow away by their employees here Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone

Having stayed at this hotel for the past 15 years, I was rather disappointed with this stay The hotel was under construction, which the website did not disclose The parking lot is a nightmare for larger vehicles

The breakfast that I was accustomed to was replaced with packaged muffins No coffee No milk No juice Which would have been acceptable if the room wasn’t at premium price The pool was on an appointment schedule, and no longer could you have guests that were not staying at the hotel Coming from out of state, one of the perks of the room was my niece getting to come swim with my daughter I had to rent another room for them just so she could swim with my daughter This was irritating because it was only me and my daughter in a room for 4, but since the reservation only had the two of us, my sister and her daughter weren’t allowed in the pool There weren’t many people using the pool, as it is mostly just the two water slides and really no place to actually swimI understand the desk person in the makeshift office is likely under some stress but having some compassion for traveling guests would have gone a long way The whole experience felt like a waste of money I am sure it will be spectacular when all the work is completed, but having a non-refundable reservation without any consideration given to let guests know in advance that there is construction going on leaves a person feeling really deceived A;so, the cleaning was below standard There was food and opened beverage in the refrigerator On the plus, the towels were clean

Great views ( especially if you get the king suite) Loved the hot tub in the winter The host is very nice

The break fast breads were delicious ( we probably gained 5 lbs:):) , though you may want to touch base before you book to ensure if breakfast is part of the booking Place is very quiet ( train didn’t bother me one bit) I would definitely go back Keep in mind the wireless does not really work, so you can disconnect:) thank you for hosting us, Helene!

Helene’s place is really special She accommodated our late check in and even had the hot tub ready The view of the stars from the ranch is amazing and you’re surrounded by so much natural beauty

Coming from a multistate road trip, we slept through breakfast and she was kind enough to prepare us a delicious omelet when we got up late in the morning We were lucky enough to chat with her about our travels and she is an awesome lady with great insight on life I highly recommend anyone looking for a cool experience and comfortable lodging to spend their Montana night/s at the Cougar Ranch

Stayed here as part of a family gathering We rented via homeaway The space was great and lack of tv was nice to support stronger social interaction

Kitchen was great along with both living rooms and and bar areas Pool table was fun as was hot tubLocation is really nice, out of the way but close to the lakes and city resources A great place for a get away Home was very clean and comfortableA couple notes: there are spiders on occasion Nothing dangerous We did see some mouse droppings on the last day there It is in the country, so understabable Lack of on-site laundry was a little frustratingWould use again This was a great place for our needs and really enjoyed it

When we checked in the room was not cleaned at all The desks had smudges still on it, crumbs on the floor randomly from past guests because it wasnt vacuumed, we found bugs inside of the beds and there was still food left over from the previous guests When they moved us to a “clean room” it wasnt much better

Still had bugs in the bed and no vacuuming Talked to the hotel again in the lobby and they said they would handle it Not the case they had lied and denied my refund Will not be staying at Holidays any longer, this is the second time Ive been burned by them Will not be a third

This was an emergency stay as my flight out of Helena had problems The staff were very friendly and helped me get a room sorted over the phone The hotel itself is very clean

The room I stayed in was quite large, I think it would be nice to stay there longer than a single night There was plenty of hot water The bed was warm and comfortable and the morning coffee was pretty good The airport shuttle worked out perfectly

Capital Homes

Pet hair in our room had a small smell of petsWalls are paper thin People next door throwing a party until 3 am next door kept my family up all night

Front office didn’t care to do anything about it either after we requested that they step in and quiet them down Never stay here if comfort is a priority to you NO sleep really disappointed that the front desk would not do more than they did I think that they were afraid of confrontation
