Not what I expect from a Hilton property When I checked in, my room smelled like smoke The front desk clerk graciously offered me a new room

Shower was disgusting, looked like mold growing in the tiles and hairs from previous guest Personal items from previous guest were still in the cabinet At 4:30 PM, no one was available to clean the shower so I went out, bought some cleaning products and did it myself My daughter and I wanted a night in but the television didn’t work No one to fix itThe location is really good, the front desk staff (thank you Warren) did their best This hotel clearly needs help

This is everything a hotel should be! Clean, comfortable, relaxing! I loved everything about our stay from the comfortable bed to the large soaking bath tub I took a star off because it’s hard to find & get in/ out of with luggage- there is no pull in & the cars in front were parked over an hour so we had to haul everything on the trolly down the street- there is also no parking so we had to leave our vehicle over night in an off site parking garage that wasn’t very secure

At one time this was an upscale modern hotel, but the ravages of time combined with an obvious lack of maintenance have taken their toll There is a LOT of bare concrete in this building which will last forever, but the rugs and furniture are looking tiredI could tell the minute I stepped into the lobby and saw the battered wooden table next to the registration desk

The lobby seemed a little grimy and smelled the same I had reserved a room with a balcony, but after dragging my bags over the long trek from the parking garage and settling in, found the lock on the balcony door was broken The sign on the door said to lock it (because someone could climb over from the adjoining balconies and enter the room) but it would not lockThe desk person was very helpful and quickly switched me to a room without a balcony That room had a broken window shade which would not open and a carton of eggs in the fridge I was just happy to finally be able to sit down 45 minutes after arrivingThere is no hotel restaurant so there is no food service – except a sushi place which, although not that clean, had a lively after-work crowd The desk person gave me directions to a sister hotel where I could get breakfastThe Vetri is overdue for a facelift If you want a sparkling clean, immaculate hotel, try one of the other Hilton properties within a block or two If you aren’t that fussy and don’t need frills, give it a try

Horrific Here now and 10/10 do not recommend You can hear everything through the walls

The manager is in the hallway at 2 am yelling talking to another guest who has a complaint No full tp was in the bathroom 2 nearly totally used rolls left Ad on Expedia says kitchen with stovetop No stovetop at all We drove 7 hours and everything is sold out for a ball tournament or we would leave NOW I am writing this at 2 am Avoid Avoid

First room giving to me was in the middle of being cleaned Went down to front desk and employee went to go check on which rooms were being cleaned After a little over 10 minutes he came back down and gave me a new room

Took the family up to our new room and it was in the middle of being cleaned, the front desk employee told me it was just being wiped down At this point we were completely frustrated and decided to just drive home

The rooms are very clean when you first walk in Every complimentary items that were needed were included with the room The pillows were very soft and had me feeling refreshed in the morning

The service was very pleasant and very welcoming The breakfast wasn’t the best but it was a great way to start the day The breakfast was heated and still hot after minutes of waiting The coffee that they had in the breakfast room and also in the hallway when you walked in was very good 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

Spirit Halloween Hangout

We came in by chance after traveling from California on a LONG road trip, and were exhausted I walked in and was greeted by a cheerful young man who was very welcoming He checked me in and explained all the ins and outs and listened to my exhausting details about my trip

He was so kind and went out of his way to give us advice on good places to eat while we were there and everything about his city and how welcoming it is! The room was huge and clean, and the most quiet hotel I have ever been in *many over 10 days!) I kept looking around to see if there were other people! Slept in peace and woke up to a nice breakfast of warm food Also the shower was strong with awesome hot water which is a plus for me! You have a family from Cali for life over there! Hope to visit again if we travel back to Jersey!!

Loreen Broderick

The check in staff was wonderful and the hotel was very clean and quiet I’ve stayed before and enjoyed it This time however the chemicals in the hot tub were not set correctly

All of our swimsuits from the shoulders down were actually stripped of color It was a little scary and though we scrubbed off well after we realized what had happened my skin was inflamed next day The staff apologized but there wasn’t anything they could do I did email Radisson along with pictures but never got a response The hotel is very good with an excellent desk staff but be wary of the hot tub

Staff was excellent all around; friendly reception desk staff, and breakfast attendant worked with my request easily and asked if I had time to wait for her to make it rather than making me feel like I was imposing (oatmeal was out near the end of their serving hours and she made more for me) Good location near hwy 80 and lots of local restaurants and a walking trail across the street (behind the hotel) Rooms were clean and was great for getting computer work done

And I didn’t feel unsafe at the location

Cindy Van Den Top

The staff is super friendly and helpful but the hotel needs work It looks like they’ve started updating Our room had recently been painted and the corridor had new carpet, wallpaper and lights

The doors need to be replaced Our latch didn’t work well at all which made it difficult to open and close Doors to outside were also left unlocked or propped open Furniture in the room also needed replacement We probably wouldn’t stay here again

Sarah Hubert

The location was nice and it has potential to be a great place to stay but the property inside and out was dirty Cigarette butts everywhere outside on the patio area The pool was closed but we were able to use a sister property’s pool

Someone was smoking weed in their room and the whole 4th floor hall smelled of skunked weed The breakfast left a lot to be desired too Who serves scrambled egg whites?!

Such a good experience! The manager was great! We received bottles of wine and chocolate for our anniversary! The associate who checked us in and out was also great Very funny and personable Room was big and very clean! Great temperature and water pressure in showers

The pool was nice and warm temperature too They were in the middle of a remodel so I’m excited to come back and see it when it’s done Breakfast was so good Best ive had at any hotel Ive stayed at Can’t wait to come back Really just a wonderful experience They even agreed to let us check out a bit earlier Thanks!

David Molner

Great stay Staff all very friendly Appearance is remodeled but not complete

This is the reason for the 4 stars Not the fact of the remodel but rather the unfinished room we were in It was beautifully appointed but all the closet items were thrown on the floor (iron board, iron, hangers, etc) no shelf and pole We had new automated blinds but they did not work They were rolled up and tied to stayOver all a great place but renovation should be completed before occupancy of rooms I’m sure when done it will be amazing Bonus is the great attached restaurant worth a visit

Molly Fry

The staff has been friendly and helpful I like the restaurant attatched, and the decor in the room is updated My complaints are that there is no closet to hang my clothes up, and the room has a musty smell that hits me in the face when I walk in the room

I only haven’t changed rooms because i don’t feel like packing all my stuff and hauling it to another room that may or may not also smell

Nice hotel Room was clean but had a slight oder to it, nothing so bad though that some plug-ins didn’t fix The room had a kitchen sink, full size refrigerator, small dishwasher, and small stove top, which was very nice

Save some money so you don’t have to eat out everyday Staff was very friendly and helpful I would recommend staying here!

Curtis Schmitt

Room was very clean but hotel is not as clean (I could see a film of dust on common area furniture, lots of paint chips, scratches and chips in the walls, etc) Also, the low rates attract a certain element

If you can afford to stay elsewhere, I’d recommend it Can’t argue with the value though, if you just need a relatively clean place to stay for under $100 For that, this is probably your best bet in the area

Prior stays here have been good, this one wasn’t one, first elevator broke, requested first floor room, 3rd floor is what I got, the first room hadn’t been cleaned nor was the family next to me and across the hall, but they did quickly get us all moved, they did say that the housekeeping staff was short only one employee showed up So i believe this Is not a normal occupation as the rooms that were ready looked spotless, oh in the first room the previous occupant actually left a polite note for the cleaning thanking them for doing such a great job 👍Breakfast was very much continental quick style unlike their normal

So that’s why this review is low But the staff did the best they could I’ll try again

I wanted to book a hotel room for my granddaughter who was traveling from out of state and stopped in Coralville for the night I spoke to Matt who informed me that he was the manager He was very accommodating and extremely polite

My granddaughter said the room was perfect and really enjoyed the breakfast Matt even stayed on the phone with me until my granddaughter was safe inside I had peace of mind knowing she was in good hands Thank you Matt!

Shirley Welander

Matt was first face we saw & he was very pleasant & personable… upgraded our room to make everything work out Hotel is clean & well maintained Breakfast was the final coup de Grace… very good with lots of choices

The staff refilled supplies immediately as neededKudos of great value for the money Would definitely stay here again Thank you to staff! All was good!

The pictures are way better than it actually is The bed in our room had deep imprints that you could see where 2 bodies laid The pillows had absolutely no support

In the shower there was a little mold in the ceiling and part of the wall behind the toilet was broken and peeling up The hot tub was not working but the pool was warm The front desk staff was super nice Over all it was just a little too run down for me and needs lots of updates I paid around $100 and there were nicer hotels for the same price Breakfast was just ok and a bit of a walk and a little difficult to find

Cindy Niemier

I was a bit concerned after reading other recent reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the room We had a standard king room It was clean, comfortable and spacious

The restaurant was closed (on Sundays) but the front desk clerk said breakfast would be served in the morning I even did recon and searched it out the night before since we were staying because of a medical appointment the next morning and time would be of the essence To say it was poorly marked, as was virtually everything, is an understatement But I found it and headed that way at an ungodly hour the next morning Nothing No staff, no lighting, no signs indicating where to go We ended up next door at the Hilton where we were informed they’re “connected” and breakfast would be there for the day Apparently every Monday! I used to love to stay in hotels, but this is another reason, in addition to everything others have mentioned, why I do NOT!!!

Dee Diva

The pictures were very deceiving This chain used to be the IT hotel…this is no longer the case The staff was great and the initial views of the hotel were very nice but once you entered the room…

The bathroom barely fit one person I had to use the toilet with the door open, the shower was wedged behind the door and I found a used towel in the shower The bed was very bouncy on rails and the pillows were trash I have a stiff neck and I couldn’t bare to spend a second night at that place I was happy we had to leave early

We stayed here for three nights in the 2 bedroom/2 bath suite It was perfect for our family of 4 The staff was all very sweet and friendly

Breakfast was good especially the biscuits and gravy Wednesday night social hour was nice, they offered hot dogs, chili, fresh garden salad, chips and cookies Also beer and wine was a nice surprise After a day out and having a huge lunch, this was all we needed for supper Pool and hot tube are small but was perfect for our boys (7 and 11) even with two other families in the pool area there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy If we are ever in the area again we will definitely choose to stay again

Daniel

Phenomenal service Kind employees that will go out of the way to help you The GM is engaged and it is obvious she loves her job

Clean rooms, great breakfast and excellent happy hour with appetizers I frequently use the gym and it is always clean and has enough equipment I travel to Iowa City frequently for work and this is the best place to stay in the region Highly recommend!!

Ja Chooz

It was really a nice day I have to say that the staff was super friendly and they gave us everything that we needed The location was great

There’s an outdoor mall with a ton of restaurants and specialty shops just outside the front door It’s walking distance from an antique car museum My only complaint is that we had what was considered a one bedroom handicapped accessible suite and it was on the small side The kitchen was nice It had a full size refrigerator and dishwasher A two burner stove with pots and pans and dishes and even a toaster A kitchen table that stuck out from the wall and then the entrance to the living room area had a big armchair just A short distance from the table which was impossible to get my wheelchair through The room with the two beds was impossibly small I could not use my wheelchair in there but the bathroom was big and had a nice removable handicap seat for the shower The pillows were too soft They started out fluffy but ended up pretty flat I had to send my husband to the store for a firmer pillow because they did not have that option Other than that we were very happy The room was neat and clean I would definitely recommend and stay there again

The hotel and the room we stayed in are both beautiful, the service is awesome Molly who ran the breakfast in the morning was absolutely AMAZING! She was externally nice to everyone and she was the only person working She still managed to run orders from the kitchen and keep up with large demands

She was extremely generous to me and my wife each morning and very helpful with everything we wanted for breakfast I would definitely stay here again!I would recommend getting a room with breakfast included because you save so much on it if you stay multiple nightsHope your experience is as great as mine!

Sarah Tyler-Peterson

The hotel and staff are top notch Everyone was welcoming The rooms were spotless and the linen and pillows were so comfortable

Then my daughter forgot her beloved baby blanket She figured this out after we drove home, 5 hours away We called and the staff were SO accommodating and looked for her lost blanket They called us a few hours later and the housekeeping staff found it!!! They mailed it back to us 🙂 This went above and beyond anything I’ve experienced at a hotel!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Vicki Coulter

Wish I could remember names of all who served us Wonderfully gracious and helpful I do remember Ms Michelle, the gracious 1am night auditor who checked us out and made sure to meet our needs that stormy night

(Thanks!)I messaged several questions before and after our stay and always received gracious, timely answer LOVED THAT But not near as much as I loved our room … gorgeous, roomy, and open with those stunning floor to ceiling windows… and the food at Class Act, I think their restaurant is called Top notch all the way Be sure to make your way to the back garden outside from the restaurantHighly recommend bumping up your budget a touch to get a suite! Gorgeous kitchenette with roomy fridge and optional, yet economical, huge drawer-format microwave Need to bring your own bowls and silverware, however! __My bad I did not even ask the front desk, and as it turned out, kitchenware could have been easily supplied upon request! I should have expected such graciousness considering the rest of my experience!__Bed is comfy and beautiful, and shower divine!

Great clean rooms Had to walk in the door and call a phone number for the person to come to the front to take my reservation Paid $130

00 plus $2000 holding fee for 1 person for 1 night Holding fee is refundable on leaving Disappointed that the heavy curtains didn’t close completely!! Only one small trash can unlined in the bathroom Super small refrigerator They don’t have smoking rooms Does have a 24 hour gym Otherwise I would have given 5 stars

From the minute we walked into the hotel after a 9 hour drive we were greeted by the nicest staff George the general manager took care of everything we needed and was incredibly accommodating We travel often for work and most hotels don’t try to make a connection

George and the staff there are different and we will always go to that Fairfield Inn because of them 🙂

Robby Rosenfeld

This is the WORST Mariot I have EVER been to Their maid service is horrendous and the housekeeping manager is one of the most disrespectful women I have ever met I spent 10 minutes begging her to hand me fresh towels and toilet paper after her housekeepers skipped my room despite me confirming my room would be serviced today

She should not be allowed to work in house keeping and I would recommend living on the street before staying in this hotel

I travel for work, so my hotel review is based on years of experience I can easily say this is the nicest Courtyard I have ever been in! Everything from the breakfast/bar area, to the workout room, to the check in area, exceeds all expectations The room darkening curtains in the guest room ensure a dark room for sleeping

Don’t hesitate to book a night or two hereMy only request to all hotel fitness centers is to have lower weights 4,6, 8, 10, 12 pounders please Women like to workout too! 😊

Nice room, mostly helpful staff, blah restaurant Otherwise nice stay spoiled by staff allowing event guests to park in handicap spots without permits Needed a van accessible spot for my daughter and she was allowed people to park in spots without permit

Lucky she hadn’t given them all away Not realizing that we actually have handicap plates she joked “don’t worry I won’t have you towed” Completely unacceptable and spoiled and otherwise nice stay

We had the BEST STAY!!! The hotel was Gorgeous inside and out The staff always asked if we were enjoying our stay, or if we needed anything The food and the servers were fantastic

One of my favorite amenities was the blackout drapes Our room was DARK when we woke up, so we really got to sleep as long as we wanted I loved everything about our stay, and now I don’t want to stay anywhere else in Iowa Thanks for excellent service and a restful trip Highly recommend!

Anne Miller

We were there for 4 days with a lot of students The staff are very friendly, did a great job on keeping up with housekeeping tasks, and it was a very nice place to stayMy one suggestion is that you make sure you do not leave anything behind, because if you do, it’s a nightmare to try to get it back

My daughter left her new electric toothbrush that her orthodontist wants her to use dailyit’s been over a month and countless phone calls I even sent a prepaid, self addressed box to them as per their instructions, and nothing Multiple times I’ve called, someone will say they are checking on it and will call me back within 10 minutes Still nothing I’ve already spent $15 in postage to get it back and am dreading going to buy another toothbrush :/Edited after response from hotel: I have talked to so many people and someone checked with an assistant manager and told me I had to send the prepaid box with return label The reservation was not under my name I will send an emailEdited 6/14/22: I emailed on 6/9 to the email address given by hotel response and have received no responseEdited 6/17/22: I called today since I have not gotten any response from my email They told me they do not have the toothbrush and that they should have just sent it to me (when someone initially found it) So, I’m giving up at this point and a month and a half later am going to buy a new toothbrush and lowering my review score

Definitely the best Hilton property we stayed at during our trip This is what you would expect from a Hilton property The staff was great, the facilities were well maintained, the bar and restaurant were definitely better than the other two Hilton Gardens we stayed at, by far

The staff were top notch I would say probably too 5 hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have traveled around the world and stayed many different places The place to stay if you are traveling through, or staying for a bit

Hands down one of the best free hot breakfasts Fresh made pancakes, crisp bacon, delicious oatmeal, name brand yogurt, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, tasty omelettes This hotel knows how to serve breakfast right

The downsides? The sluggish and only elevator plus the hotel lobby that smelt pretty gnarly the first couple nights we were there My guess is the grease trap was being cleaned The smell is unmistakable I know it is something that needs to be done but please inform your guests in the future Room was clean and the service was descent Fantastic location

After a long day’s drive in below zero winter weather, it was great to be able to park in the warm underground parking garage! Our room was impeccably clean & it was nicely furnished We loved being on the 10th floor! The view of the sunrise was gorgeous from our window! The breakfast buffet was delicious The front desk attendant was cheerful & welcoming

We will definitely plan to stay here again if we are in the area!

Very nice hotel room and facilities The desk people were nice and helpfulThere parking structure was full, but told us possibilities for us to park

They have a pool and small fitness center In the morning they had breakfast with different choices And the dining area was nicely decoratedOur room had a nice view of the city, unfortunately a lot of it was rooftops But the sunset was beautiful

The hotel was very nice and clean! We got just a standard king size room, but we still got a couch and floor to ceiling windows! The lady at the front desk was very nice, she was helpful and complimented us!The only downside to this is that parking wasn’t the best They were busy that weekend I think, so the parking garage filled up fast They also share a garage with Rise apartments, so it made parking a little confusing because Iowa City is infamous for towing cars and we didn’t want to get into a situation like that

When we got home from a night out we called the front desk, this was at like 3 or 4am and the lady (different than the one earlier, voices and attitude was completely different) on the phone was not helpful at all We grew frustrated because it was late, people were double parked in an already tight parking garage, and the lady was not helpful at all and told us I could just call tomorrow and get the parking fee taken off and park on the street I drive a brand new sports car so this was even more frustrating because I purposely booked a hotel that said they had parking availableEverything else besides that was great! We will definitely be back and this time we will keep the car in a parking spot the entire time so we don’t end up having no where to park again!

I am beyond upset with this property I recommended this location to several of my siblings who were traveling to the North Liberty area for our baby sister’s funeral – already a difficult time for all of us I specifically recommended it because family had stayed there in the past and had a lovely experience

I don’t know what has changed, maybe the owners, but “hospitality” is not part of their service When my family realized that the pool was closed for a few days (after they were checked in), which was one of the main reasons they chose this hotel for their kids, AND that their room smelled like smoke, they took their concerns to the front desk Staff there not only didn’t apologize, they attempted to make this my sibling’s mistake They offered no apology, refused to provide them with a clean room, and told them that they were welcome to leave, but if they did they would not be given a refund To be fair, they offered them a “discount” – hardly a remedy for how they now feel about this hotelDuring a difficult time like this, I would hope my family would be welcomed and provided all types of hospitality in my own community I will certainly never recommend this location to our many visitors in the future Given all the wonderful hotels in this area, I’m grateful there are other places we can have them stay with better experiences

Easy to find Room was mostly clean (the middle of the couch had a mystery stain so we avoided sitting on that!), bed was comfortable Road noise is extremely loud- been in dozens of hotels right off highways but this one was the worst for traffic noise

Breakfast was not good at all Coffee was horrendous Just stayed one night on a trip farther south so was fine to get some rest At least rest for my husband who can sleep thru anything I did not sleep- if you’re a light sleeper like me ask to be as far away from the road as possible Oh and there’s nothing for food within walking distance but the city is easy to navigate Pool was open but we didn’t use it Front desk fast checking in and out

Mike Jesse

This hotel advertises a pool, however, due apparently to a paperwork issue of their own failing, they cannot use said pool When guests learn of this deception, and request a refund to go stay elsewhere within minutes of checking in, they get incredibly rude and refuse to acknowledge or take accountability for their shortcoming, and refuse to issue a refund and remove the reservation Fortunately, only one person of our party had checked in before this issue was discovered

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS DISHONEST BUSINESS And if you do, don’t be surprised when they take advantage of you once they have your card information

We took a midweek break and spent a Wednesday night at the Highlander, it was the perfect combination of fun and relaxation! Our poolside room was inviting and the high top table right outside the room was great to enjoy the vibe of the pool area The drinks were top notch and the menu was great for sharing – street tacos, sliders and pizzas The Boom Boom Chicken sliders were so good, we ordered a second plate! A late night soak in the hot tub followed by listening to albums on a record player in our room made for a memorable night! Thank you Highlander for such a wonderful experience!

This is the best hotel in Iowa City by far Absolutely loved the pool and the rooms were clean and very stylish The free breakfast during the week is very slim

Would be nice to include danish (There is a wonderful French danish shop in town that everyone loves called Deluxe) and wish there was a “potato” option such as French fries ,etc on their menu for the kids Staff was simply awesome No complaints whatsoever Great job in remodeling this hotel!!!

Andrew Elder

Staff was friendly and accommodating They seemed genuinely interested in making sure you had a great stay and had what you needed Decor was really cool and unique

Pool area and courtyard were amazing Free snacks and coffee around the clock The mattress and pillows were unbelievably comfortable for what you normally get in a hotel PLUS very dog friendly! This will be our go to place when visiting Iowa City from now on
