Location is great, right by so many things The service was AMAZING My teen gets bouts of anxiety inspired insomnia and couldn’t stay in the room over night

The staff were so accommodating to him and his needs Kept an extra eye on him and made him feel comfortable The pool/work out room leave a little to be desired but my kids liked it Breakfast was only okay but honestly it was food and it was hot Everything was very clean As someone who used to be a house keeper in a hotel I know the things I’m looking to be clean and it was great Only things I really have to “complain” about isn’t really a them thing but a ME thing The beds were a bit small for me I’m used to a bigger bed but that by no means is there fault Over all when we return to the area we will most likely be staying again Thank you

Patricia Gulzar

When we walked in room 309, we were concerned that the beds would be uncomfortable because they were both sloped downward toward the headboard Fortunately, the beds didn’t cause an issue too much Our room wasn’t clean

This included the toilet, floor, and bed Because the hotel was full, we couldn’t switch rooms, which is understandable I did request for our room to be clean, but that never happened The lights in the bathroom kept cutting on and off I was happy to leave

I always have the best stays at Best Western hotels, and this didn’t disappoint Off season rates were excellent Yeah, it’s still a little pricey if you’re just looking for shelter

But so clean and comfortable, with an enormous comfortable bed, super clean bathroom with amenities such as a safe, coffee maker, fridge and breakfast I dinged it for the tiny pillows and scratchy towels, which seemed more in place at a Travelodge, but otherwise, it really was a 5 star stay

The staff, front desk, restaurant, room preparation, were very pleasant and capable Food was good (had breakfasts & lunch) A review of this Hotel is a difficult balancing of other location items

The site has existed since 1875 as Lakeside Hotel It is a unique facility There is nothing wrong with staying there Rooms are very small Bed sizes were small as well If larger of either exist I am unawareThe visitor is going to enjoy staying as room guests at the site knowing of its limitations in advance and embracing them Know the Hotel and the location are a hark back in time Bathrooms are in rooms yes Not when built initially I do not supposeSitting on the grand screened porch, great Walking the Erie shore right in front of the porch, great tooWhen you go (and you can go for dining and sitting etc without being a room guest) the lobby is most welcoming and large, piano players come and go, sing along, pleasant times and seemingly these pleasantries are accomplished by guests and visitors An 1875 form of magical group happiness & happenings Enjoy

Kelly Montgomery

Stayed for only 1 night Was on the 3rd floor Room was clean, bed was kind of hard

Received a voucher for breakfast however for a family of 4 it was going to be $88 we’ve had thought that was a bit much concerning our kids don’t eat that much So we decided to eat elsewhere The whole vibe of Lakeside is nice people are friendly there’s a lot to do The downside is the cost to get in who is about a $175 for 4 of us for 24 hours

Visited on June 21, pretty sweet Very nice Reno and the winery added a great optionWe left our car at the Inn, walked to KI ferry

Avoided $15 Parking fee The Inn is highly recommended Everyone was top shelf

Anthony Salem

Stayed one night in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary The room was comfortable and clean The staff was friendly and very helpful

There was a complimentary bottle of wine and cheese tray waiting for us Even though the winery closed at six (Monday in October) we were allowed to sit out back at one of the fire pits to enjoy our wine and cheese We would definitely come back for the inn and the winery both

Decent hotel but when you pay over $300 a night, they tell you don’t have room service, and you have to call for towels We called for towels and waited 2 hours Nobody showed up

When we called the front receptionist and told him politely that we were disgruntled about not having towels he hung the phone up on us This is no way to resolve a problem with a paying guest that has done nothing wrong! There is no advantage of staying at a Cedar Point Hotel I recommend using an independent vendor You will get better service

We have stayed at this hotel in the past for HalloWeekends This time, we stayed for a softball tournament hosted as Sports Force Park and the nightly rate was significantly more than in the past We tried to check into our room at 5:00 and were told our room was not ready

I inquired about 4pm check in and was told that check in starts at 4, but is not guaranteed I was told I would receive a text when the room was ready, but never did We ended up going to the park until closing so room was ready when we returned at 11pm This is a very minimalistic hotel, no coffee in the lobby, no breakfast, no housekeeping during your stay If anything is needed, was told to see the front desk staff The room was clean, which is very important, but the beds were hard and the pillows were awful Very firm pillows one was not quite enough and two was too much Ended up not sleeping well and waking with neck aches both days we were there Would likely not stay here again unless required to due to another softball tournament Location is great Centrally located between the amusement park and the athletic complex

Nick

Wow, thought this would be a reliable place to stay as it’s connected with Cedar Point but noThey were wrong about our reservations and were super rude about itCan’t hold bags while you’re at the park

Everyone is hurting for good workers, but this place must pay nothing judging by the helpfulness of the staff and manager Makes me not want to come to visit the park Would definitely think long and hard about visiting cedar point and would not under any circumstances recommend staying here

We were blown away on how massive this place was! My kids had a lot of fun The wave pool was one of the favorites! We were lucky enough to rent a cabana for one of our days and it was really worth it We spent most of our day at the pool and it was nice to have a place to rest and take a break in a semi-private area

The restaurants were great as well! The Zoo was adorable! My kids LOVED feeding the animals We bought the family sized bucket and it was really worth the money We had more than enough for the 4 of us to use

dxrkcutz

Ive gone many times and the only thing i dont like is the fact that all the likes are 100 miles long But i can’t blame them The rides are so fun and there is a great selection of kid friendly rides

And the lifeguards are very nice And the suits are so huge My mom took 10 girls and 2 adults on a trip for my sisters birthday and we were able to fit in the suit very comfortably Overall a wonderful vacation spot

Nikki Trusty

Our bathroom light took forever to come on, our tv didn’t work, our shower had no pressure and the cap was off of it at the wall, and our window leaked We also had to ask for blankets Our second night out of 4 we had people in our hallway at 2:30 am yelling waking everyone up

We called and asked them to come take care of it We ended up having to call a second time and they finally came and removed several people who were not staying there Then came directly to our door and accused us of telling the desk we would take care of it ourselves( literally would have been 5 of us against like 30 people) The whole point in calling was to let them take care of it But I guess when you try and be a good person they frown upon that Water park was nice! Staff for most part were very nice Wouldn’t recommend staying maybe just visiting the water park I won’t ever go back I’ll spend my money elsewhere

This hotel was a welcome change from the previous hotels we stayed in on our Ohio exploration trip The staff was super friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious and comfortable, very clean (not perfect, but it’s not brand new or a 4 star+ hotel, I didn’t expect perfection) and location was JUST what we needed The end of the main street in a quaint coastal town with very lovely nearby walking paths, especially out to the lighthouse with the bird sanctuary and fish jumping out of the water in the river

We took an evening stroll with our baby and it was super relaxing! Actually wished we had stayed near the hotel and walked around rather than pay for the Kelley’s Island Ferry where we saw nothing really of note Biggest downside was noise from other guests; since it’s so close to Cedar Point there were a lot of teenagers slamming doors and running from room to room late in the evening Breakfast was also tired standard hotel powdered eggs, sausage, yogurts, toast, cereal, and waffle mix was too thick and tasted like a biscuit mix or something no sweetness but too salty Overall, we hope to go back and stay longer! Please don’t increase the price before we can return 🙏!

Was visiting the Huron Pier and decided to walk in to inquire about a room 10 minutes later, we’re in the room Thanks to the kind staff! Jackie in particular who was cordial and helpful getting us checked in

There was a kids baseball tournament that weekend and the hotel was crawling with kids A little chaotic, but the kids were fun and well behaved! We fished in the river just outside our room It got quiet at 10p like it is supposed to In the morning, the breakfast was perfect! THANK YOU

Traci Sasha

Great location right other water pier is right there to fish off of can walk out to see lighthouse

Benches so can watch the sunset Rooms are clean smoke free got a noise complaint when we were sleeping but other then that was nice Beds are doubles so not comfiest but hey have roll away beds for an extra 24 bucks a night

We had a very unpleasant experience with this hotel so we do not recommend this hotel to anyone! First, hotel front desk appeared to be nice but unhelpful Upon checking in, I had asked if someone could help me with taking my 2 big suitcases to my room I had my little boy with me so we just needed a little help

The front desk staff responded “sure” So I went to my car, which is parked right in front of the hotel, thinking she would follow me But nope, as I pulled my 2 suitcases and my son holding me, she pretended she didn’t see me Completely ignored me Thankfully, another lady saw me and offered to give me a cart I took the cart, loaded it myself and pushed it to the elevator and to my room As we entered the room, we saw an object on the floor, I picked it up and put it on the table Looked like a remote control for the AC that used to be mounted on the wall had fallen off There were 4 mall screws that supposed to hold it, but you as most of us know, unless there was a stud behind that wall, that thing will never stay I did not think of it as anything I picked it up and whatever A day later after we checked out (we only stayed for 1 night), this hotel charged my card $250 for damage in the room I called the hotel right away but front desk said the hotel manager was not in so she took my message I sent an email and no response I have contacted multiple times and emailed multiple times and I have not gotten any response from the manager of this hotel Hopefully, this review will work and would get their attention (I hope so as it has been 1 week) This is unacceptable! It is also very loud, we hear footsteps from the room above us The bed is not comfortable at all And room is not spacious

Danielle Franck

This hotel nearly ruined our wedding Aside from the onsite restaurant giving my husband and several others in our group food poisoning from the rehearsal dinner, the front desk manager made our wedding day a nightmare We booked this hotel specifically because we wanted to get ready here and have pictures taken on the rooftop bar

When we checked in, we told the girl at the front desk we would have people arriving between 8-8:30 and to please let them know where our room was To our surprise the following morning, the front desk isn’t even staffed from 12am until 11am when the bar opens back up! So when you wake up and need more towels after your husband has been throwing up all night, there is no way to get any When your hair and make up artist arrive, be prepared to run downstairs each time to let them in the front door If you won’t be ready to check out by 11am, (even if you have multiple issues caused by the hotel), be prepared to be charged or kicked out of your room! And then when we went to take our pictures in the rooftop bar, we were told we were not allowed because of a liability even though we were told ahead of time we could Then to save face, they told us the door was frozen shut The best part of all of this – when I spoke with the owner to see how she wanted to proceed in making the situation right, she offered us a night at the hotel or a gift card to the restaurant or gift shop, both of which are no use to us I had really hoped that a business owner would want to make this right, but she showed no interested in that at all Very disappointed

Coleman Dole

Service, rooms, and location were all excellent I was blown away by the restaurant below and the quality of the hotel In my opinion this is the nicest place to stay in Sandusky

We looked at nearby AirBNBs and there’s one in the condos across the street, and that had an egregious $150 cleaning base-charge And I feel like they’d have similar sound issues based on proximity (see below)Only caveat is that the walls / windows are ‘thin’ and you can hear quite a bit However, that’s something that I’ve mostly come to expect During my stay I heard the trash truck outside at 7am Not bad at all No gripes about the sound but other people noted this in their reviews and while I can see how it is an issue for some, I’ve experienced worse at other hotelsOtherwise I really, thoroughly enjoyed staying at Hotel Kilbourne The staff was awesome, the rooms were awesome, and the location is awesome (walked to Mr Smith’s coffee shop every morning, walked to restaurants nearby for dinner) Note that the hotel is smaller than the average chain hotel, so you may want to book ahead of time I Highly recommend Hotel Kilbourne!

Me and my boyfriend stayed the night here after we spent all day at cedar point The owner is super friendly and accommodating and easy to talk to! The rooms are quaint and rustic and clean! I was thoroughly pleased with our stay here We didn’t get a chance to go in the pool but it looked very clean

In the morning we were offered coffee, donuts, fruit and granola bars If I could give Maples Motel 10 stars I would We will definitely be returning when we go back to cedar point for the weekend!

Mara Rinard

If your are looking for a retro slice of heaven, Here it is! We were greeted by the lovely owner, Steve and he shared some history of the place We shared in laughs and great conversation through out our stay Steve makes sure his guest feel right at home & surely we did! Not only does he go above and beyond making sure your room is to your liking, he also has fresh donuts, locally grown fruit and hot coffee every morning for his guest! After a 3 night stay it felt like we were leaving family as we said goodbye to Steve and his furry family ❤️ We will definitely be back!

Tee Cee

This property is amazing!Close to nature yet still convenient to town Steve is an amazingly kind personThe rooms are very clean and the motel area itself is welcoming

Definitely a gem!Don’t forget to ask about the back path A must do, especially around dusk I have never stayed at a place ( from coast to coast) with as much hospitality and charm as the Maples

We stayed at this hotel because of the star rating I wish I would have read the reviews instead Our room wasn’t very clean and the toilet seat was loose

There was no bar of soap, only pump containers that were less than half full for a family of 4 One of the queen beds was broken and wobbly Only 1 small trash can in the bathroom, none in the room itself We couldn’t find any ice machines on any floor Pool was tiny and looked cloudy The only plus is that it is close to Cedar Point The breakfast was good except there was no orange juice

Katherine Ott

Originally booked our stay at another hotel that ended up being filthy! After lots of stress and some tears, I found this hotel had an available room last minute, and I’m so thankful it did! Ended up being much closer to cedar point than our original booking, and the hotel itself was much, much nicer After explaining our headache to the manager, I believe named Todd, he kindly gave us a room with a bay view! Amazing customer service from him, and from his staff that we interacted with Anything we needed was quickly provided upon request, no issues with our room whatsoever

Large breakfast with plenty of options Next door is an awesome and unique restaurant and game lounge as well

George Terplan

My stay here was good overall I am not sure why, but I never had any room service all week other than the one day I requested to have it done The breakfast service was standard for any HI Exp, but they don’t have any orange juice here

My room was great overall and I slept comfortably in the bed and lastly the front desk staff was very friendly and time I needed something

We ended up at this hotel because we found bed bugs at our original hotel at 11pm and this was the only one with good reviews that still had rooms left Nathan at the front desk was wonderful He was very kind and empathetic, as well as energetic for it being after midnight

The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean Since it was so late we didn’t get to use most amenities like the pool so I can’t speak on that The breakfast was good, but very crowded Staff had trouble keeping up with refilling the stations due to so many people The price was high, but it was worth it to have a clean, comfortable place to stay with no bed bugs We would stay here again

Debbie Derrenberger

Unfortunately we didnt make it through our first night because of a family emergency, but the check in/check out was easy and Alyssa & Michelle were awesome! Thank you also for recognizing our Anniversary with a card and some snacks, something no other hotel has ever done for us!! Our room was very clean and smelled great Plenty of towels and bed was comfy Looking forward to making a return visit

Karama L Noaks

We stayed this passed weekend Thursday- Sunday and the front desk staff were really friendly and helpful The hot breakfast was also really nice and it was nice that the pool was open so late as well This would have been a really nice stay and I would have given it a higher score but our last night at the hotel we went swimming and the pool damaged our swim suits

The night after we checked in we went swimming in the hotel pool and it was fine and our swim suits that we wore on the first night did not seem to be damaged, the second night that we went swimming we all wore different swim suits that were very good quality and in great condition for about an hour and a half and all 4 of us now have swim suits that we can no longer wear because the colors bleached so bad and they are now drastically different from how they looked before we went swimming just from sitting in that pool for so long One of us has very sensitive skin and within 30 minutes of being in the water, her skin started to irritate and her eyes started to burn Even after excessively washing her skin, her skin was still sticky to the touch This has never happened to us before when staying at any other hotel so I was unsure of what to do If you plan on staying here make sure that you wear swim suits that you don’t mind having to toss after The chlorine is way too strong, maybe just skip the pool altogether We do have the before and after picturesUpdate: I’m not always the most vocal when it comes to complaining but after considering the situation more I decided to call the hotel and let them know what had happened The manager was very helpful

Robert Cross

I just completed a quick stay and found the facility top notch The staff was extremly friendly and helpful as we checked into our rooms The hotel is very clean and in good order

The breakfast area was organized and the food was tasty The tables are kept clean Plenty of coffee was always available The rooms are clean with plenty of hot water Highly recommended

Amelia K

We were in town for a dance competition with a bunch of kids and had a wonderful experience LeeAnn, at the front desk, was just fantastic She was accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we were happy

Breakfast was delicious and had lots of options, even for picky eaters The pool was fun and the hot tub was a nice addition There’s even a little fire pit area out back We didn’t get to use it because we were there in the cold, but it seems like it would be nice! All in all, we will definitely choose this location again

We were excited to stay here after the renovations Rooms and lobby are very nice, but they just weren’t quite ready for guests which very much detracted from the stay Pros: beds and pillows were quite comfortable

All the staff we encountered were quite nice Drinks were cold and well made Cons: we were unable to get any lunch or dinner at the resort The Mulligan pub is opened, but the cooks called in while we were there Elevator in our building was down so I had to lug all our luggage up the stairs Ice machine also not yet operating Pools are nice, but we were kicked out after about 15 minutes because the pH was off and they had to adjustIn short, I’d likely give it a second chance but not this close to reopen Not worth the price without the amenities

Sandra Schrom

Resort is a nice change of pace from our normal Cedar Point hotel stays The location was great (far enough away from CP for relaxation, but yet close enough to still go) The resort was very nice with an upscale feel

Common areas were updated and very nice! Enjoyed the classy/laid back music played by the live band in the evening Also plenty to do outside with nature trail walks, beach, corn hole and other outdoor games as well Main negative was the outdoor pool was down for our entire stay In all, had a great stay and will definitely go back!

My wife and I stayed here for three nights for our cedar point honeymoon We loved it They had everything we needed at check in for our cedar point visits (parking, early entry, etc)

Unlike what was mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel did not seem understaffed at all, and the pool was open (and great!) The fitness center has all the basics for a strength or cardio workout The breakfast buffet is impressive The one downside is that the rooms do not have coffee makers, but we saw this ahead of time in reviews so we brought our own coffee (Starbucks Via instant coffee packets Does not taste like instant coffee!) We are a gay couple and felt completely welcome here

I had left a message a couple of days ago and someone by the name of Sarah I believe (honestly I don’t really care what her name was) was really rude to me and I was taken back by it I said, ” oh hi thank you so much for calling me back She says, What did you need”

Really that’s how you talk to someone who may be a potential paying customer? I told her that my sister was getting married in July and was wanting to stay on Kelly’s Island for her bachelorette party Before I could say anything else she says, “I’m going to stop you right there” (wow) We don’t allow bachelorette parties to stay here This is a family oriented place it’s listed on our website” I said oh okay well I didn’t look on your website, that’s why I’m calling you because I had a few questions first before I booked rooms and we’re not l that type of bachelorette party and there are not really any other options to stay at on Kelly’s Island for one night We just wanted something for one night” I mean really there was no reason for her to be rude and demeaning towards me all because I asked a question regarding a bachelorette party It was truly unnecessary and she could have spoken to me in a better manner and handled it more professionally This was a turn off and I don’t believe I want to ever stay there at all

My husband and I stayed at the resort a few weeks ago Very clean, quiet and a fantastic pool! We called after we were almost back home to ask if they had found a pair of plastic shoe inserts While no one at that point had found them and turned them in , their staff searched the pool area where I thought they may be

They took the time to look, found them and called us the next day They were mailed back to me very soon Will never forget the kindness they showed in going out of their way to find these items!
