Not a good experience at all First room had a hair tie on the restroom floor, corners of the restroom has a lot of dirt in them, pillow case has stains on them and there was other debris on the floor through out the room Clearly this room was not cleaned prior to use going to it

We were given another room only to find the same thing The bathroom had toothpaste on the wall near the sink the back of the entrance door looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time, the window looking out looked like it had not been cleaned since the hotel opened My wife attempted to make tea but the brown clumps and dirty water that came out of the pot was disgusting I try to not leave negative reviews but this needed to be shared For the price we paid, I was not happy at all with the level of cleanliness in this hotel I will say the people at the front desk were very nice and the lady that waited on us in the restaurant was great For the price this was a complete rip off, not to mention the breakfast was $18 and about the same thing we usually get for free at other hotels Sorry Marriot tried, but will not be back

I stayed at this hotel for 10 nights The staff was so friendly and helpful There were two changes (both my fault) to my plans and they were able to accommodate me perfectly

I needed some special assistance since I became ill during my stay and they were great! The General Manager was kind and friendly as was sweet Lindsey from New Bedford, MA! I wish I knew the gentleman’s name who personally helped me so I could also mention him hereI liked my room It was clean, modern and comfortable

Sally Castillo

It was just okay

not bad but not outstanding either Alot noise in the hallway from workers stayingwe were workers too but had enough sense to not be fighting and arguing in the hallway No grab n go breakfast as advertised I’m not sure what they expect a worker to do with a bag of oatmeal on the go The kitchen was convenient the 2 burner stove was questionable very hard to regulate They provide most of the utensils I had my own At a $100+ a night probably will find something else next work trip

Angel Wright

Our room was a king bed with sofa bed, there was 3 of us, so we did plan to use the sofa bed It was not up to par, let’s say easily from the 80’s, springs showing and all Very, very uncomfortable

Went to the front desk to ask for blankets and sheets and I was told they had no clean blankets 😒 The outdoor pool was a perk for us and found out when we arrived that it was closed Our room smelled heavily of paint and the hallway, well you see the pictures We did get a packaged breakfast but I would stay away from the apple juice and orange juice dispencers If you look close you will see mold around the nozzles Needless to say we will not be visiting this place again

Not sure why this hotel has good reviewsI was really unimpressed with the rooms for the price, but my major gripes are:- Our party had two bed room even though our block asked for kings- Gave us rooms on different floors, even though we had a blockNo one was close to each other for our party, which was really annoyingMy other complaints are:- No soap our room, and no soap available from the people cleaning our rooms either! They said they were out

Had to use body wash instead- Elevator needs a key to work, and it’s unresponsive Super annoying, especially when you’re in it a lot because all your friend’s are on another floor- No fan in the bathroom so it’s damp- Absolutely terrible quality towels So scratchy- Outdated look and rooms, the lobby is the only nice areaThe free and ample parking is nice, but that’s it I would avoid staying here if you can

ShiningStar

The lobby decor is chic and the contemporary art work is nice The flowing water fountain is beautiful, people also seems to use it like a wishing well So go ahead and make a wish

The rooms are nice, the bed is soft and cozy and the front view was nice They offer a weight room for guests use, a swimming pool with a jacuzzi The jacuzzi was temporary closed

The staff was amazing! The hotel was clean and well stocked The kids loved the pool And when I had a bit of an issue with someone in the parking lot that was not a guest there, they were quick to address it and make sure that my daughter’s and myself felt safe and secure with our continued stay

Some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in a very long time Kudos to the employees and management there Would definitely stay again

Ian Kerr

Overall very nice hotel Rooms were clean, fairly large, and hey bidet and heated toilet seat were unexpected but appreciated

only real cons were, despite reasonable button pushing efforts on our end, the room seemed hot Also, and I totally understand that breakfast waffle/pancake machine are finicky but it was out of order Breakfast was good overall, Numerous choices and good coffee

Luke Chang

Stayed 3 nights and travelled with family Definitely I will stay here again and would recommend this place Hotel was easy to find

Location is great It’s close to the highway There are many stores and restaurants close by Parking was fine Staffs were great Check-in was simple and quick Facilities were clean Breakfast was a good experience; there was a staff there cleaning the tables as guest left, so tables were ready for the next guest She also consistently checked to make sure there was food, and kept the serving area neat and clean With the amount of guests, I really appreciate her hard work It made the morning experience start off with positivity Pool and fitness center were nice amenities If traveling with family, especially kids under 12, I would recommend this

I’ve never written a review, I’ll admit Even when I’m happy or unsatisfied with a stay I feel compelled here though bc I often make decisions based on reviews

This place was exceptional Not only was the staff very VERY friendly, the hotel itself was so clean you’d think it was brand new There is beautiful and interesting art everywhere from the halls to the rooms The pool water was warm, the breakfast was above average which was completely fine and I still can’t believe I paid under $200 for a Friday night here Even the showers have full bottles of shampoo instead of the tiny toiletries I will absolutely come again It was just such a great experience that I have to share! If you’re thinking twice on staying here, just do it It’s a fantastic hotel

Tricia Morris

I booked a total of 14 nights at this hotel (2 rooms for 5 nights; 1 room for 4 nights) Be mindful that they will not clean your room or replace towels or other supplies unless requested They charge for breakfast, and I decided to take advantage of the hot breakfast (around $14

95) on my last day prior to a long drive home The hot food barely passed for edible, and my whole group was so disappointed The location is in close proximity to local restaurants and stores, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to this hotel and did not feel the rate I paid supported the experience received

Michelle Angela

Quiet place for the most part Staff is absolutely in need of hospitality training especially Aaron and Katy However the manager Kim fixed the issue

Housekeeping is per your request only However that was not expressed to me at check in with Katy on Thursday because she was too busy on her cellphone and responded to my presence to check in as if I were being an inconvenience Saturday afternoon around 3 when I returned I found the room still dirty and called the desk to Aaron who responded to my request with “We don’t clean every day you have to request if I don’t have anyone to send to clean it anyway You can come get whatever you need” I go upstairs not five minutes later and see the girls are still on the floor So I asked one of them to call the housekeeping manager and have her call me She appeared at my door within five minutes She was courteous and kind and after explaining the situation with not servicing the rooms every day unless it’s by request, was more than willing to service the room even if she had to do it herself Kim is a keeper The housekeeping staff is great Front desk……please train them

I attended a beautiful wedding reception at the Townsend Hotel this weekend The venue was incredible, beautiful flowers, incredible food and drink, and service that was top notch The reason for my review, however, is the lengths the staff went to help me in a funny if not embarrassing incident

I realized that the underside of my shoe had come unglued, making walking quite awkward, and dancing of course, impossible I limped toward the main desk and Sean, the concierge, immediately took note of the problem and radioed his engineer, asking for adhesive Jay, the engineer, appeared with gorilla glue and proceeded to reassemble my shoe including pressing on it and blowing it dry All the while, both were attempting to make me feel less embarrassed and could not have been kinder Believe this or not but after an hour on the dance floor, my other shoe fell victim and once again the staff at the Townsend Hotel jumped to my rescue and repaired it as well Sean and Jay as well as the team at the desk could not have been kinder They helped me make light of the situation and insured that I could revisit the dance floor in no time and enjoy the spectacular wedding Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Townsend Hotel I will honestly never forget your kindness

This location isn’t convenient but it’s worth the experience I’m a Marriott kind of person but this hotel is an awesome hotelRooms seem sound proof, bellman were astoundingly amazing carrying my luggage with such care

The restaurant service is awesome I only at breakfast there The breakfast was typical but service made it taste greatI will stay here again

Brett Ogden

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Birmingham We loved being a short walk from restaurants whether it was a pastry for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, or Bella Piatta for a great dinner across the street Our room was very comfortable but what stood out to me was the shower

Such a great shower! The only downside… as someone who likes to always have a glass of ice water nearby, I didn’t like having to request ice from the bellman

Ciara at the front desk is super pleasant and amazing! Third shift lady didn’t seem to have as much love for her job as much as everyone else I noticed on the team, even the breakfast lady was pleasant! Comfortable beds, a 24 hour gym, complimentary breakfast 6a-10a in the lobby, pool goes up to 55 feet and the biggest PRO is it’s right off the highway and within walking distance of Great Lakes Northern Outlet! Only con is the rooms needs to be updated and you can hear every stomp in the building Also, I know marijuana is legal or whatever but I didn’t appreciate finding a little half of “blunt” under our bed

I think of crawling babies please be more careful with cleaning housekeepers! Thanks so much again! Would recommend!

Rating based on expectations for price Check in staff was very personable, and helpful Breakfast was great, not sure if everyone expects this, but they have the waffle makers my kids love, sausage, eggs, potatoes, and many other options

Coffee wasn’t the greatest, but didn’t take from experience The facility was very clean; room, pool, breakfast area Right next to Legoland, Sea Life Aquarium

Location was OK, in a middle of an industrial office park but there are restaurants around The exterior of the hotel was in poor condition The interior rooms need to be updated and cleaned better

A few things did not work such as the bathroom fan, room phone and TV was hard to navigate The bed was not comfortable and needs to be replaced This stay was well below the standard Hilton/Hampton level of accommodations and I was disappointed My overall stay was average I would stay here again but would definitely look elsewhere before

Brick Mason

The rooms were very nice the staff was very polite I was greeted by even the maid service as I walked by the breakfast I was incredibly impressed with the choice of waffles and the fact that there was so many topping choices Breakfast at a choice of biscuits and gravy eggs oatmeal Cold cereal bagels waffles different juices I took a lot longer to check in than I would have liked but all in all I still gave it a five star

Stayed for 5 night’s with our robotics team to compete in a competition happening at Oakland university Great service, very friendly employees We used the meeting room a few times and it was nice

The pool is great but closes at 9pm which seems early It appeared they had an air conditioning issue of the lobby while we were there but that really had no affect on our stay

Susan Eyth

Unfriendly staff Called ahead and asked if we could check in an hour early so we could get dressed for our memorial, and were told yes, there were clean rooms available

Arrived to check in and could only check in if we paid an additional $50 We were already paying over $220, which included a $20 booking fee They made us sit in the lobby and wait until 3 to check in Also, once we finally checked in we had to wait a long time to get the only elevator up to our room, because the other elevator was broken Got to our room and the key did not work Had to wait for the elevator again to go back down for a correct key We were late for our memorial service The room was nice, but there was no air conditioning in the lobby or halls Fans were sitting all over This place is declining and we would never stay there again! Poor value for the money and no concern for the customer!

London France

The stay was good but not the best However, the key was not working and it gave us a hard time opening the door up The breakfast options were good but when were coming down for breakfast, lots of people were coughing in the kitchen

In the rooms, there was no microwave (which was very inconvenient) the bathrooms were VERY small and the sink was outside the bathroom, the bedding was very hard and uncomfortable, and the bathroom shower also had bugs inside of it Another downside of the hotel, is that the snacks were overpriced The pool seemed outdated and there was not a hot tub or sauna

Showed up after an event let out of Ford Field at 9:30 ish, took us about an hour to get out of down town and to this hotel They gave us two key cards, we opened the room and found a family in the room and it looked like they had been living there for a while Came down to the front desk and the night guy said something like, “they gave your room away

” Asked if we could do a king bed for the four of us We said absolutely not Next room he went and checked first and there were people in that room too Finally gave us a key to room 210 and no one was in the room, but the TV did not work and there were scary water stains on the ceiling They moved us across the hall to 211 The room was a handicap accessible room, so there was a walk in shower with no lip or edge which flooded the bathroom every time you used it Also there were broken tiles and I am sure there is a huge water stain on the ceiling of the room belowBreakfast was awesome, but the police came for a group of young ladies and remained until the ladies finished their foodabout an hourOverall I would not recommend the placewalls were thin and people were running up and down the halls at around 2:30 amIt was clean in the rooms – the shared areas needed a good vacuuming and elevators were full of trash

Glenn Fielder

Haven’t stayed here in years but thought we’d give it a try again Front desk was pleasant and got us going to our room quickly Room furniture is looking well worn, same for bathroom as there is mildew on tile grout and tub looks like Breaking Bad filmed there

Also had to fix a broken curtain for privacy Next morning there were beer cans in the hallway and wife complained that breakfast was not good Wife went down to check the fitness room and pool and was back quickly stating both areas were filthy Came back later that evening and trash cans were overflowing and our floor sounded like party central Best part was, we got to our room and neither of our key cards would unlock our door, so back down to the front desk to get them replaced Next morning, we check the breakfast again and just about everything is gone and they say they are cooking more Just left and got breakfast elsewhere

Rachel Spencer

I love my rooms especially the jacuzzi suite my rooms were cleaned very helpful the manager was very helpful with accommodations because when I first arrived one of my rooms wasn’t cleaned wasn’t happy but we made it happened by cleaning one of our connected suites ourself The jacuzzi was nice and relaxing I shall say the beds were comfortable I had to make some accommodations because of my injuries so they made sure that they make they beds were comfortable for me by giving me extra pillows the pool was nice clean warm water Alexis was very nice too I ♥️her etc

The night shift front desk lady Pam made this experience amazing She was kind and made sure we were more than satisfied with our stay! I hope the next time I visit she is here to continue making the experience outstanding Also, hotel is great, modern, and amazingly clean

So up to date and the furniture around the hotel literally comes out of a catalog

Amy Plumb

Check in was super easy and fast Warm chocolate chip cookies awaited me upon arrival, and you can’t go wrong with that The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet

The towels were larger than some of my blankets at home The gym was bigger than most, three treadmills and multiple other machines in there as well as weights and a stretching area I didn’t use any other amenities and didn’t eat on site One of the restaurants on site has a business casual dress code, which I was not prepared for Any staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful When I was there the elevator on my side was not working, which was fine by me because my room was right next to it The parking situation felt a little sketch being in the back of the hotel, but it’s Bloomfield Hills, so I wasn’t too worried As is true for most anywhere in that area, the pavement to the parking lot on both sides is trash, with extremely large potholes all over the place, so beware when driving The drive in the front was intact and smooth

Zed Alhatab

Stayed there for 2 nights !A very clean hotel! One of the most important things for me ! There was no noise I can hear from the other rooms ! Which is a positive point! The staff was very friendly ! While waiting in the lobby Dominique came from behind the desk to take our picture so that I could be in the photo We met Toni after the wedding when she came to offer us clean towels and clean the bathroom We even shared the wedding pictures with her She is a sweetheart and her attitude is so genuine Definitely would return

Erica Resar

I’d give them even less stars if at all possible The service was horrendous We asked for extra towels and got attitude about using the pool towels

Asked for a clean room because the mattress was stained, and covered in glitter and food and were told it was because people need to put things away properly It’s our first time here She refused to give us linens for the pullout in our room She told me to come down to the front desk so that she could insult me and my children on camera Then when I told her her attitude was not appropriate, she started telling about me and my son to other patrons No one else is available and choice hotels are not answering their phones

We had a wonderful stay at this Holiday Inn & Suites of Farmington Hills Everything was very clean and sanitary The staff was always cleaning in all areas as well as the rooms

The breakfast was hot, delicious and served by a very courteous crew We will definitely be back when we come to the Detroit area again Thank you for having an amazing group of employees who care about the guests!

OMG, where do I start

This hotel and staff are absolutely amazing Upon first walking in I was a little worried Out initial greeting was not the best but that was all We were here for 12 days The GM Ms Joanna, Ms Sasha, Matt and others in restaurant, the front desk staff as well as house keeping All of the lovely individuals working at the hotel made our stay that much better We did not have one need that went unmet Most times staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed Whenever in town this will definitely be our go to hotel Thanks IHG family

jessica bradley

The pool was so dirty that when I complained they had to close the pool No one knew who was responsible for cleaning the pool Uncleanly

No manager on site to assist with anything Even the staff member at the desk said she wouldn’t stay there It was so bad that I checked out right after checking in rather than sleeping there I WAS NOT refunded! I will not be staying at a Holiday Inn again Such a terrible experience! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

This was one of the nicest hotels I have visited in a long time Glass elevator rooms that are up to date with great amenities A pool, workout room, brunch style breakfast in the morning where they have a chef making omelets custom however you want them

The layout was very unique, all floors could be seen from the main level and from the room you can walk out and view the entire first floor Nice bar and restaurant as well The staff does an excellent job accommodating the needs of guest

Alex Eddy

The hotel was really cool The elevators was a bit under maintained And my room and a couple of others room I walked into weren’t very detailed clean

Still hair in the shower and dirty streaks on the shower door and drainstill used soap in there The carpet wasn’t swept very welltook my boots off and socks and it was like walking on crumbs The tables still had cup marks on them and there was layers of dust on the TV stand and end tables by bed This wasn’t just one room This was five different rooms from level 8 to level 4 Detailed Cleaning would go a long wayStaff was super helpful and FriendlyAlso the rooms had a very musky smell to them almost like damp basement smell TV in the bedroom said would turn on but had zero TV TV In the couch area had channels UT the screen was very blurryNice hotel but for as nice as it comes off to be could be alot cleaner and smell a bit better in the roomsI’d give it 5 stars if it was cleanerHad food it was lasagna it was still frozen in the middle Had a sweet little older lady greeting and picking up our plates” ALL BY HERSELF “! with a full dining room while others young men were on their phones I mentioned it to the young men and they just blew me off Not very respectful to there older lady Co worker That lady I didn’t catch her name wish I didbut she was working her butt off with an amazing attitude I let those other lazy boys go and hire 3 of herThose few things change the next time we stay there and I’ll give it a better review Guess we’ll see if customers advice and reviews matter

Embassy Suites is normally my favorite hotel but this trip is quite disappointing We paid for an expensive room that was marketed as nicer than it was Not a huge deal, its still a fine room, but there’s more issues

Our first room was a mess… when we entered all the drawers were open, the microwave was open and had pieces missing, there were glass cups everywhere on the floor, it was ridiculous So we switched rooms to the same type of room on a new floor This room was much better, but there were some random issues like the toilet paper holder being broken and the shower door handle being extremely loose Then, when we were preparing the sofa bed, there were no sheets because instead of being washed and put away for us to put on the bed, they were never taken off from the previous use and the top sheet was stuffed under the coach cushions The dirty sheet was also visibly dirty, like stains all over kind of dirty, it was gross Also, the blanket that goes with it had some stains on it that had a crusty texture, even though it was in the plastic bag seemingly cleaned unlike the sheets (i guess it wasn’t cleaned though, at least not enough because it was gross) We got new sheets and a new blanket, but the new blanket had bleach stains all over it and had a towel-texture instead of a soft texture We stayed at a different Hilton hotel last night that was much cheaper and it was the same blanket except theirs was actually soft On top of that, general issues like the shower sucks (no shelves or ledges to set products on, no ledge to shave, etc) and the fact that on weekdays breakfast ends at 9am (10am on weekends), which is way too early 10am is okay but 9 is not reasonable Im just very disappointed with our stay and the staff was barely helpful It seems to be working out alright now but it was an extremely stressful first day and the room is not as good as it should be considering the very high price The lobby was also kind of a mess, I understand that they are doing construction so its not a big deal but still The biggest problem with the lobby was the elevators… this may just be my irrational fears but I did not like how one of the elevators was very squeaky and rattled as we went up and down I’m sure it’s still safe but it did not make me feel very secure, it could probabaly use some maintenance so that should have already happened…

The place was clean and the room was spacious Some of the amenities were lacking- for instance the breakfast was really disappointing and there wasn’t much I could eat of substance Also, the front desk didn’t tell me that I would need to request my room be cleaned a day in advance until I explicitly asked two days into my stay

I feel like that information should be given during check in The gym was nice, and overall had a good experience with the staff

Ellen Hoard

The rooms are quiet, clean, and well-designed Beds are comfortable We had a block of rooms for family and friends for a wedding

The breakfast is simple but adequate I have an all electric plug in car They provide J chargers (and Tesla chargers) free of charge to their guests There was some periodic confusion with the desk workers, but they were new, as with so many employees in this quasi-pandemic world

Melanie Watson

I can’t recommend this hotel The walls are SO thin that you can hear conversations that are held at a normal tone from other rooms Our room was not refreshed one time during our week long stay, and we only had one night of decent sleep because of how poorly constructed the building is

The rooms also are pricey for what you get I gave the place two stars because the staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was decent

The headboard was heavily used and falling apart, mattress was old and hard, the reading light by the bed was broken and sharp and keeping our one year old away from it was hard and unsafe Black hair in the bathroom, towels were old and not soft, mysterious white stains on the couch Pool is only 4ft deep and small but warm and the hot tub was under construction

Breakfast was eh due to covid stuffThere is better hotels especially for what you pay for itStaff was great, lobby was clean and really nice and updatedWould not stay here again

The room design/layout is horrible I have stayed in plenty of spring hill suites and this layout was the worstThe TV was glued to the top of a piece of furniture

Couldn’t watch TV from the couchBreakfast was powdered eggs and turkey sausage YuckBar was there but no staffThe location was perfect but you need a sign out by the road!

As I found a spot to park and join my friends to few drinks, saw the whole parking lot was almost full Took a nice walk around the hotel towards the restaurant The whole atmosphere is delightful, full of life and very enjoyable

We ordered cocktails and few sides dishes and to share Everything was delicious and very elegantly served Our server was super friendly and full of smiles too The crowd was flowing in and out, though not overly crowdedMy friends loved their cocktails which was great I liked my pomegranate martini but will try another martini another time Little on the sweeter end!The whole ambience was fantastic!

Been aware of this beautiful hotel for 20+ years but just had the first opportunity to stay there Our room with a balcony was so nice Lots of space, comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom (not the usual cramped space) with a walk in closet! Housekeeping was super attentive when we needed them

Restaurant staff was great the first visit, but the second visit sort of ruined the whole fantastic stay it was so bad Fitness center had weights and cardio And the location is perfect for walks to other restaurants and even the local farmer’s market on the weekend I’d recommend this hotel and stay again, but would probably skip the dining room
