Great Bonfire

The rooms were very clean and well maintained, but I had huge issues when it comes to deadbolt The deadbolts for both rooms were either removed, or it would simply lock you in your room and you would have to fight tooth and nail to get the deadbolt unstuck Would have been a problem if I truly couldn’t get out through the door since the window doesn’t open

Other than that, it was pretty all right The continental breakfast left much to be desired, but at least it was something, right?

For the price this hotel served our purposes It was clean, the beds were not the most comfortable, but not the worst I’ve ever slept on either It’s a bit dated, but for the price what do you expect? The location of this hotel is great, minutes to the beach, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and all around great to work with

Kim who was just filling in was great to deal with! It’s a solid 3 star, and will likely stay here again next time I come to visit!

When we arrived at Hotel the air conditioning was not on It had a very musty smell The sink was stop up when advised the desk they said will fix that did not happen

When I opened the dresser to put some belongings in there a roach was crawling I killed and took to desk She said I had to wait for manager to arrive around 11 When to to manager to show him his comment was that’s what happens when people leaves doors open There was no apology from the manager There were hair on the bed and pillow cases and no apology there either It was suppose to be a weekend stay but ended up being only one night stay Not to mention the price over the phone was 109 when arrived I had to pay 145 I do not recommend staying at this hotel I will never stay at this hotel again I have to give a one star to post but no star from me

Had a large family reunion in July, Some family members stayed at the Islander Very happy with room and location

Impressed with the fact that front desk called to assure everything to their satisfaction shortly after check inWould like to personally give a HUGE shoutout to Carol, the event coordinator We used the banquet room for a dinner and a breakfast Carol was so helpful in assuring that we had everything we neededShe was so pleasant and accommodating, just great to work with Thank you Carol for helping to make our beach week such a positive experience!

My husband and I stayed in room 130 and this hotel was great The room was impeccable and we were able to park right in front of our room We used the complimentary beach chairs and am really glad they had them! This trip was unexpected so we were glad the Islander could accommodate us on this busy weekend

I am picky about cleanliness, and this was a totally positive experience!

Gail Langley

My daughter and husband just stayed in room 227 The room was nice, but the air conditioner did not work like it should Had it set on 61 and it never cooled

You could feel the heat coming from the ceiling Not enough insulation I guess Maybe 1st floor would have been cooler They had to buy a fan to help circulate the air Awesome location though Just alot of money spent to be hot

Bed bugs Room wasn’t ready when we arrived Upstairs neighbors were very loud

And we were confronted for having a dog in our room that we paid for and registeredArrived around 3:15 Check-in took 30 min and our room still wasn’t ready so we had to wait another half hour until it was ready The nonsmoking room smelled like smokeWhen we went to sleep, it sounded like kids upstairs were sprinting back and forth across the room The floors are not carpeted so that made the noises much louder This continued surprisingly late and started up again very early the next morningWoke up covered in itchy bites all over my arms, back, and hips I’ve never had bedbugs before but the bites look exactly like the pictures on GoogleAs we were packing up to leave, a lady confronted us asking if we had a dog in the room She told us we were not supposed to have a dog in the room I told her the lady at the front desk said it was okay She then asked if it was a service animal? No Did you pay for it? Yes She said oh, then walked away It was very off-puttingI called to speak to a manager about the experience and was told that he would give me a call yesterday No one has contacted me

Robbie Lee

The nicest thing about the motel is the room was clean However, the bed was uncomfortable The walls are like paper

You can hear everything in the other rooms It was noisy/loud all night I thought this place would be in a quiet town near the beach, but it was not quiet at all I also reserved a king room but they gave me two doubles

Terri Williams

AC didn’t work & hot water wasn’t hot so I picked up the phone to call the desk Phone didn’t work! They moved us to the room next store That room didn’t have any hot water and when I took my cool shower, I stood in three inches of water! Now you know when they’re cleaning the rooms they know if the water isn’t hot or if the tub isn’t draining or the AC isn’t working but sure let’s rent the rooms anyway! Save your money this hotel is a dump!

What a great experience We were able to get a pet friendly room when we needed one The rooms are spacious, clean

Staff members are everywhere and everyone is very friendly Every morning we had complimentary breakfast in the Cafe area with the same staff member greeting us Our stay was awesome and would recommend to all our friends Just want to say Thank you to every staff member!

I give this place *** because it is “good” but not “great” Carpet had a damp smell It is surprising that any hotel has carpet anymore

Location was good Overall, nothing great to deserve a 4 or 5 star It was for $96 as well, which was higher than what I expected to pay for the zip code As the saying goes, nothing to write home about

Pelumi Olaleye

First time staying here I was at New River VOQ before moving over to this location I like this hotel only for the quality of items in the rooms

It is way nicer and much more comfortable than those at VOQ on new river The area here has more traffic Also the location only allows you to make a right turn out of the parking lot Thus, it’s super annoying for me to have to do a u-turn out of the parking lot everyday in order to get to where I need go But for the quality of sleep I get here it’s won’t the annoyances

Probably wouldn’t stay here again The rooms are very outdated and definitely need some love Amenities aren’t particularly great and room service does the bare minimum

The price is pretty comparable to other hotels in the area, so I would certainly recommend staying somewhere else if possible The only upside I suppose is this place is very quiet and secluded

A surprising little oasis on the inlet Satellite view from above seems like it’s going to be a trailer park with a bunch of annual spots People had nice trailers, clean and in nice condition

Our expectation was low having never been there Nice friendly staff, campers and annual people were friendly Decent pool Clean laundry facility A little loud on weekends but super quiet during the week Close to water

10/10 would recommend My husband and I stayed here as a last minute vacation and we had a wonderful time! Our first time in NC The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower was great

Free and fast wifi and the TV had Netflix The staff were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay The location is convenient, there are lots of beaches close by, kayaking, mini golf, restaurants, etc And the view of the sunset from the pier at the inn was amazing We’d love to come back!

It was under construction when we were there but our stay was great The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and spacious The roll in shower was large and perfect to accommodate my disability needs

The breakfast wasn’t the greatest but I would still stay here again if we were visiting They have done a lot of updating and I’m sure it will be even nicer once they are done

Thomas Swab

I stay here for work, and my room is typically disgusting I noticed a hand print on my headboard 2 days into my stay

and my ice bucket had water standing in the bottom of it I don’t understand why these things weren’t addressed by the housekeeper Good luck on your stay, I’ll be back and skeptical because of my experiencesEdit: thanks for your concern, the issues I fore mentioned were things that were present prior to my checking into the room I was not complaining about the housekeeper not cleaning up after myself, but as the TV remote is supposedly cleaned and sanitized between tenants, I was concerned what else is overlooked when noticing the oily hand print on the head board

Catherine Gurak

I’ve never left a negative review in my life but I’ve never had a hotel stay like this We checked in after 8 hour drive and the staff was rude and we had complications from the start Then we get to our room and later pull out the pullout couch and there’s rat or roach droppings all inside

The AC didn’t work when it’s almost 80 degrees I stayed up sweating all night The room was loud I could hear all the other rooms around us and it was difficult to sleep Lastly, when I went to discuss my issues, the front desk said the manager was out so there’s no one I could talk to until Tuesday Guess I’m out of luck

One of the best hotels in the surrounding area for the price and qualityRoom was nice and clean with a nice desk for working at in the eveningFitness center is simple but has enough equipment for a quick work out

Plenty of places in walking distance if you don’t feel like drivingBreakfast is the best I’ve had out of the surrounding hotels The hotels that are “on the beach” are definitely lacking in that regard

Brendan Mcsherry

I have stayed at this hotel twice now Once last year in 2021 and once this year My first experience went well and I had no issues

However, my most recent visit in July was a not a good one at all I woke up just before 2 am to a cockroach crawling on my leg I found it in the morning on the other side of the room I hit it with my shoe and left it upon check out I told a front desk agent about it, and he offered apologies for the situation and advised he would tell his manager about this No follow up or anything was done

What an amazing place! We stayed in a beautiful camper tucked away in the woods behind the Annex building It had a private drive, all the amenities we could ask for, and the sounds of natureI sat on the deck and played my guitar under the awning while my wife watched tv inside

It was hard to believe how sound proof the camper was We could literally live there! If you like nature and quick access to the beach this is your heaven We will be back as often as we can!

Andrea Penn

The owner took the time to welcome us before we arrived by phone I had booked a 2 person room and he offered a better room (think suite with husband) than I had booked because it was available I let him know we were traveling on short notice because my daughter’s grandmother passed away and she (my daughter) was my co-traveler

He showed me a raw kindness, a thoughtfulness, that was unexpectedHe offered us a suite that allowed private access so we could come and go as needed Ultimately, we didn’t spend much time at the B&B I can assure you that the time we did spend was calm, clean, private, and reassuring My daughter, that had never been to a B&B and was thus unsure, was impressed herself She doesn’t want to stay in another hotel She wants to stay in a “home away from home” againThe White House is not a hotel and I’m thankful for that If you’ve read this far, you will be too

Dona Raynor

Robbie was a great host and easy to communicate with My suite was perfect, a large bedroom, bath and private living room with flat screen tv Comfy bed and great furnishings

Beautiful shared kitchen if you wanted to cook! Loved the outdoor space, large porch and landscaped yard Even had a chicken coop! Close to the quaint town of Swansboro and EI beaches Can’t wait to stay again
