I originally stayed with a long term stay guest Crystal was absolutely attentive I decided to rent my own room

Therefore starting my own account I was there 1 week Because of her and housekeeping I overlooked the refrigerator not working, a flashing lamp, and small flies However I could not accept the fact that someone charged my card for 1 payment and 2 payments within 1day After going to the office I was told by a manager that I had been charged for the room I visited previously He said that he charged my card because he saw me with my friend I explained to him that I had my own account and in no shape, form, or fashion was I responsible for any other account He then became very rude, demanding payment for the future stay I was at a loss of words He had practically stolen my money I said that and he said I had 20 minutes to get out Trying not to cause a scene I did I had to contact my bank and a lawyer I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who will be using a credit card because it could possibly be used to pay for someone else’s account

You get one star for a comfortable bedFirst- I booked a lower level room, but we got a top floor room- so beware if you’re unable to climb stairsThe hotel room was absolutely disgusting

And I’m sure they knew it I called the front desk within the first minute of waking in the room and they wouldn’t even answer the call The smell hit before anything else- the nice smell of mold, body odor, and dead body- real pleasant If the room wasn’t non-refundable, we would have left with our money and found somewhere else I assume al the rooms smelled bad- my daughter looked up reviews and that was the top complaintThe comforters were not clean and one of my pillows was filthy At least my sheets looked brilliantly cleaned underneath, but I didn’t realize that the ones on my (adult) daughter’s bed were filthy If I’d realized that, I would have really demanded a new room And the bed is the deal-breaker for me in all things If I can’t be comfortable sleeping, what’s the pointThe bathroom counter looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks- it had stuff caked up on it- only in spots, but still- ew One of our hand-towels was even dirty So if they aren’t even changing the hand-towels…Just don’t do it Save your money and go somewhere else!!!! I had sinus problems all night from the moldy room (even though I was eventually nose-blind to it)We didn’t try the breakfast, so I can’t speak to whether it was worth it or not There were apples, waffles, and what looked like old cereal So we went out for food But the breakfast drinks were goodThe staff clearly did not want to hear how bad the rooms were There was a sign to drop your room key in the basket to check out There was no basket Finally the woman at the counter looked at me and pulled the basket from behind the counter I politely (seriously- it’s not her fault the hotel sucks) told her the room needed to be cleaned, the beds and towels need to be changed, the stench was unbearable- and she just acted like it was nothing I guess that’s why you just put your key in a basket- so they don’t have to hear everyone complain

Monique Jackson

We stayed two nights, the pillows were very flat almost nonexistent, I was very upset when the cleaning lady opened our door around 8:00 am which was no where near check out time Our sink would not drain properly and there were some type of fruit flies around the sink area It was not our worse stay but not close to some of our better stays

Top Notch establishment! I travel the country for work, so I have stayed in all sorts of hotels Candlewood is the best for a extended stay The price is never the lowest on the market and there’s a reason why

IHG hotels are always in good places, either pretty safe areas of that town if not in the safest areas so you don’t have to worry about your belongings or vehicles The services they offer you cant get other places The pantry always has home essentials and a verity of snacks and drinks as wellThat section was about Candlewood in general Now let me tell you about this hotel in Alabaster The staff is beyond nice, management is on point with questions or concerns Pets are allowed! The pantry has most basics you want, a snack or if you need Laundry detergent The rooms are not only clean, they look brand new! Since Covid lots of hotels no longer do cleaning services while the room is occupied This location does If you have questions, concerns or suggestions on the room the staff and management is always there to listenI highly recommend this location for your stay

Samantha Little

Not sure if they went thru a remodel/deep clean but this hotel was great! Did not experience issues in other reviews, and I’m very particular when it comes to hotels since I travel a lot Room was good size, clean, and had everything you needed for the kitchen The fridge freezer even makes ice so you don’t have to leave the room for that

Cool to see they had specialty appliances and games you can sign out I didn’t realize it was a pet friendly hotel until we left, the hotel doesn’t smell of pets or any musty smells Jasmin at the front desk was so nice and helpful as we had multiple people come in at different times, and she was on it!! Will stay here again!

The room was nice and clean Everything that we needed The casing of the AC unit kept falling off I also don’t think it was working correctly since we had it set on 68 and it was still warm in the room

The pool needed cleaned and the breakfast wasn’t great The prepackaged muffins and yogurt were the best items they had Oh and the fire alarm went off right as we had fell asleep

GH0ST420

This is the absolute BEST hotel in the area! Trust me, I’ve stayed at every single hotel in Pelham, pretty much My family was suddenly kicked from our home during covid, and we tried several different hotels before finally landing in the BW It’s easy to overlook because they don’t have huge flashy signs like the other neighboring hotels, but everything about this place is wonderful

I can even say, during one of the worst times of my life, the BW was a home for us, when we needed one the most It was always quiet, breakfast is supplied for guests, which was really helpful since we were completely broke at the time They even allowed our beloved pets to feel at home, there The kindness from the staff was unlike anything I have experienced anywhere else I don’t believe I can say enough positive things about this Best Western Thank you, for your exceptional service!

I reserved three rooms for a concert Not only were my preferences accommodated, all of the rooms were clean and functional The front desk agent was super sweet and patient (my card wanted to give us a little bit of trouble because it’s a new card)

The breakfast was phenomenal My mother enjoyed the pool as well If I’m ever in the area again, this will definitely be the hotel I go to!

Maranda Cristo

When we arrived, it was already late in the evening We had a suite booked for 6 First, the biggest issue was THE AC DID NOT WORK!!!! They tried to tell us it was a switch but that didn’t work and the entire 3rd floor was hot

Others issues were also present The sofa bed had no linens on it or in the closet So I had to go down and get some There was only 3 towels so again, had to go get some The bathroom had no body wash at all No ice in the ice machines The futon mattress looked like it had Cheeto stains on it The floors were so sticky Not worth the $222 spent to stay here The only saving grace was their staff was incredible The overnight check in lady was very kind and the gentleman working breakfast was super hard working

We had rode over 500 miles on our Harley’s and it was 9pm and this was our target for the evening 👍🏻 We were greeting at the front desk by a very nice young lady and check in was fast and easy We found the room very nice, clean and cool Coffee was available in the breakfast area and had a good hot shower and a great nights sleep

Breakfast was continental as there was an unforeseen circumstance with the hot breakfast but there was plenty of coffee and muffins, toast, cereal, fruit ……etc! Highly recommend this motel👍🏻 We stayed in a first floor room!

Johnathan Stewart

Today is our 1st day so we haven’t been able to experience much with the hotel However location is very good with lots of restaurants in the area Check in was easy and getting to the room was also

When we entered the room it was nice and cold Decent size for 3 people It has 2 double beds and the bathroom sink is in the room because the bathroom is only large enough for the toilet and shower Breakfast starts at 6am daily No gym but the pool area is nice It is located in the front by the entrance Try to get a room facing the front They have a better view of the pool and restaurants We got room 205

Mark George

I’m not sure why this establishment has such a high rating It’s fairly well maintained But it needs cleaned

When we checked in our first room we had to request another room The odor of mold and mildew was so overpowering that we would have had a hard time breathing in it The second room was better, but still had a peculiar odor Also, the bathroom and shower area is smallThe breakfast was poor Basically anything that could be watered down was This includes the coffee, juice, etc Multiple people had issues with the waffle iron And the condiments were old As an example, the honey had crystals in itHaving a mixed experience with so many things, I’m not sure I would return – considering this was one of the more expensive options in the area

Richard Harris

Nice, quiet place with a great staff The meeting room served us well for a training facility, on short notice Very accommodating

Very close to many restaurants and storesUpdate (after a total of 35 nights, this year): I am still impressed, and enjoying my stay So impressed, I just reserved a room for another 18 nights

Sara Profitt

Rooms had soaking wet floors, even after not checking in until 10pm Cleaning came in on us without asking and woke us up at around 7am Rooms smelled TERRIBLE

Like burnt wet towels and mildew Shower heads were super gross Elevator broke and we got stuck inside We also see every other person who use the elevator while we were in the lobby get stuck They would just pry the door open and not tell anyone it was broken until the very next day

Joel Sterling

Ok At first I was pleased with the location and upgraded exterior, but it all went south when we entered our room Also, I absolutely understand staffing shortages (everybody has an issue with staffing right now), but the stuff we saw on our room is inexcusable

I will say that the staff at the front desk was pleasant and helpful, so I’ll give them that Our room came with a hideaway bed (sleeper sofa) which we did use Upon opening the sofa, we discovered a mattress cover that hadn’t been changed for months, if ever There was even a used Qtip swab stuck to the cover as well as rust stains (blood ?), hair, other yellowish stains, etcvery grossI requested and received extra sheets from the front desk and made a nice barrier before actually making the bed In the bathroom we discovered toothpaste smeared on the door, a bar of used non-hotel soap in the soap dish, and a tub that drained very slowly It was very late and we had to book this room 45 miles from our destination as all Tuscaloosa hotels were full that weekend, so we stuck it out Otherwise, we would have probably just left I try not to nitpick but I felt these were glaring issues that should have been addressed by the housekeeping staff On a brighter note, the breakfast bar was well stocked, and tasty, especially the fresh waffles

Bathroom does not have a vent therefore there is mold all around the ceiling borders There is no tub The shower constantly drips and splashed onto the floor

The bathroom door doesn’t close properly There are zero USB ports anywhere in the room Paint jobs are super sloppy There was a pubic hair on the pull-up beds mattress cover Our room overall is very run down Nothing like Homewood Suites we’ve stayed in before Overall not very clean in my opinion Do not recommend

Jen Hebert

Cons: Tom was tired looking, no trash bags in trash cans, overhead light was flickering, toilet paper dispenser in bathroom was falling off the wall, coffee cup lids provided didn’t fit the coffee cups provided, the breaker in the kitchenette area was tripped, extremely slow elevators…Pros: very cold ac, spacious, breakfast was decent, staff was friendlyThe cons won’t keep us from using the hotel if we need to come back to Birmingham since the pros were strong, but some of those things are easy to fix (tho the bathroom could use an update) We didn’t bother pointing those things out to the front desk as we were only there for a quick overnight and this feedback is a bit nit picky and things I assume they’re aware of… but these small details are annoying and things you take for granted to be there (trash bags, proper fitting lids etc)

Justin Slaughter

Hotel in a quiet area just off I-65 Rooms were OK with a few minor issues A?C unit ticked at times, but not enough to disturb sleep

Some low level maintenance needed though as had broken lampshade and remote control battery cover taped on with a band-aid Breakfast was just OK as well Was expecting a larger hot breakfast and there were no waffle makers Pool was also closed just before our arrival for a month in peak summer season!

The hotel itself was clean Good water pressure in the shower The staff was friendly

Now I will explain the reason for the two stars The most important thing to me on an overnight stay in a hotel is a good night’s sleep The mattress on the bed was horrible! I was lucky to get 2 hours sleep if that I had springs poking me all night They really need to upgrade their mattresses

Jim Fineis

The staff was nice, but the facility itself shows an immense amount of wear and age Everything was clean and organized, but everything in my guest room needed to be replaced from the televisions to the doors which were warped and coming apart to the shower which had missing caulk The staff did the best they could with the well-worn facility

evelin pineda

Not the best stay As we walked in our room you could feel it musty A shelf on the bathroom wall was close to falling off

The juices in the morning for breakfast were watered down Coffee didn’t even taste like coffee Not a lot of selection for breakfast either and not enough Not well prepared and not well managedNot what we expect from Hampton Inn

Never had such a bad experience with hotels before Rooms had unpleasant smell, not clean Carpet was wet from leaking AC

Chair was broken, we asked for another one but ended up with another broken chair, lol No one cleaned the room or refilled with soap, towels and other things Trash can was full, no one took care of that Awful customer service as well I will not book this hotel ever again, doesn’t worth for the price at all and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Lise Gomora

It was ok We’re a family of 5 plus baby Booked this hotel because they could accommodate us, had the pool, and breakfast

Was not cheap Room was fine, beds comfy but high up The shower/tub was nice good pressure and hot water The ac was wonky we had to fuss with the machine under the window, don’t bother with the thermostat Disappointed with the pool- it was so hot in there no ac no air flow we couldn’t stand it Basket of floaties but most of them deflated and a few small towels Pool was dirty there were things floating in it, and when we got back the kids eyes were red and itchy Breakfast was also not good it was fake cheap food that had already been sitting out, even my kids wouldn’t eat it we still had to get breakfast elsewhere Staff was ok They didn’t clean out or refill the room when we were gone so the trash filled up and we kept asking for towels It was ok not worth the price for the ‘Pool and breakfast’

We were taken such good care of by the awesome staff! The only problem we had during our four day stay was the air conditioner could not be controlled The room was very very cold Breakfast was fantastic and varied each day

We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of the lobby where the met very friendly guest We were there for a wedding and would, definitely, stay there in the future This hotel is dog friendly and fun for kids! If Hamilton is in the lobby he will amaze you with his lego creations!

Clean and the hotel staff very helpful Good breakfastDifficult to get a restful sleep with trains with horns blowing in the middle of the night (in view of your room)! If we stay again we’ll ask for a room on the apposite side of the building

We spent New Years here and it was perfect Check in was easy and fast, rick was super nice The next morning breakfast was awesome and there was something for everyone – hot and cold breakfast

The two ladies at the front desk were very sweet and welcoming And on our last night we had to ask Nicholas for something 2-3 times and he was so nice and never seemed annoyed Overall great room, hotel, and especially the staff 10/10!

Jordan Ritter

Early check-in is sometimes a hassle, not here Jessica was friendly, efficient and prepared with room waiting They also upgraded room, since room booked online was not available so early

The entire staff is excellent! Great Location Breakfast is good- get there early, great coffee Hotel is dated, but clean Elevators give agoraphobic vibes Water pressure less than ideal Hotel was quiet I would definitely stay here again, the entire team here is superb

Tamara Green

Conveniently located off of I-65 near several restaurants and stores The hotel sits back from the main road and we had a little trouble trying to figure out how to get to itOur room was updated, clean and comfortable

Only complaint was that the bathtub faucet did not turn off completely so there was a continuous dripping noise all nightFree breakfast included waffles, scrambled eggs, etc and was kept fully stocked

Stayed for 4 months at this hotel It’s basically the motel 6 of extended stays You get a bed, a bathroom, a fridge, microwave, 2 burner cooktop, and a very small kitchen sink

It’s a small room but an unbeatable price and they are pet friendly The beds in this particular wood spring are ABSOLUTELY the worst Extremely uncomfortable You’d get less angry people if you went back to actual box springsGreat when you’re between housing or in town for extended work Most reviewers seem to be expecting Hilton service out of a motel 6 like setup They are very upfront that you get ONE cleaning every 2 weeks You can pay a fee to upgrade to weekly cleaning They don’t include cookware, utensils, or plates It’s a bare bones room that you can cook in for LESS than a motel 6 if you pay monthlyThe front desk was routinely left unmanned throughout the day but I suspect that was a staff shortage issue Personally my biggest issue was the constant weed smell on what was supposed to be a non smoking floor

Sam I Am

I travel alot for work I’m yet to stay in a nice extended stay hotel

this one is probably one of the nicer ones I’ve been to, but still has issues The bed was very uncomfortable and hurt my back The room only has a bed and 2 uncomfortable hard plastic chairs, therefore I spent alot of time sitting in my car when I wasn’t at work or sleeping There was no lamp, just bright overhead lights There was a horrible funky smell coming from the bath drain They did not have a housekeeper, it is clear that they were short staffed, but the staff they have are wonderful and very hard working The area that the hotel is in is pretty nice, and has all the necessary stores and restaurants are close by Everyone is different of course but the price of the room was good enough to deal with the cons
