Stayed here last week with my wife and chose this hotel because it was closer to the capitol and the palace In theory it sounded good but was a big mistake The area around the hotel (and I understand that this is out of their control) was not tourist friendly

Lots of homeless wandering around, people sleeping on sidewalks, abandoned looking buildings (the longs drugs at the bottom of the hotel was shuttered), and generally did not look safe The hotel itself does not have a restaurant or room service, so you will be forced to look around the hotel, which is fine unless you want to eat after 3pm (most of the restaurants close after this time) Now for the hotel itself The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but they could only do so much There is no fitness center at this hotel (a first for us since even the holiday inn has a basic setup) but they can sell you a one use pass for the 24 hour fitness nearby for $12 The view in the room was great, but the room itself was dated No comforter on the bed, and room service only comes by after 4 days of your stay You can request housekeeping or more towels, but we never actually tried this The tub had jets but as others had mentioned, the nozzles were black and quite dirty In our room the caulking at the base of the tub was not present, leaving a nice gap between the tile and the tub that looked unsettling when walking around with bare feet The carpet was well worn and the wallpaper was peeling in several places The a/c diffuser was placed on top of the door to the bedroom and ended up blowing directly on us as we tried to sleep, which was annoying It was nice that the rooms have a kitchenette with utensils, mugs, etc That actually came in handy a couple of times We did like the fact that there was a small table in the bedroom as well as the kitchen area and a loveseat as well Lots of room, but everything was just so old and worn down Overall, i think the hotel could be great if they just renovated the rooms I feel like this would have been an awesome hotel like 30 years ago

Spacious room with a full small kitchen, a bathroom with a large tub and a washer/dryer, and a large bedroom with a view The neighborhood around the hotel has many AMAZING restaurants, and it is very easy to access Ala Moana and Waikiki beaches (in fact, much of Honolulu) via the multiple bus lines that come right by the hotel Keep in mind you are in downtown Honolulu, and not the tourist-filled streets of Waikiki

Giving this a 5 star rating based on our entire experience The hotel is very clean! It’s an older hotel that’s been very nicely updated! Especially in the beautiful lobby and bar/Restaurant The food here is beyond amazing! The rooms are nice and clean

But more than anything, The entire staff made this an incredible experience You truly feel like they become friends Pony up and get a room with a beach view or better yet an ocean front We had a beach view which was nice but wished we had a beachfront once we saw them Location is amazing too! Away from the crazy Waikiki but yet close to everything! Thank you!

Our stay at this hotel was great! Right on the beach and near lots of park amenities like tennis courts, soccer field, and basketball courts Wide open stone walkway to run alone the shoreline Great views of Diamond Head and close, easy access to gas stations and restaurants

The older part of the hotel doesn’t have an elevator but it is key access to get to stairs Our room was 302 or 304 I believe We had the corner room on the third floor and it was awesome! Very roomy and loved the large balconies and 3 sliding doors to access each side We still had a partial ocean view Room was always nice and cool Fridge and microwave worked great The vanity had two sinks so it was easier to get ready Room was always clean everyday and everyone was always super nice to us Definitely will stay here again

I’ve been staying at the Diamond Head Beach Hotel every time I come to Honolulu for at least 6 yrs Love the location, you will love sitting in lounge chairs on the lawn watching and listening to the oceanThe views are spectacular

Mark and David who I go through to rent a condo, have been greatDon’t expect a fancy hotel, what you get there is a special place that I think same people come back to year after year It’s very relaxing, actually very quietCan’t wait to go back

Milehigh Brat

The place is beautiful and the view cannot be beat Best view in all of Waikiki! The kitchen is fully stocked including spices We loved how both sides open up to the outside with wide open doorways and all of the fun ocean toys provided

The only downfall is that you can tell someone has smoked in the unit It was cheaper to park on the street than pay for the provided parking so was a blessing in disguise that no parking was available through management

Nan F

Unit 1202 needs some love The views were spectacular, but the windows were so dirty that it was distracting Both sofas need to be cleaned, there were mismatched lightbulbs in the bathroom, and the bed was very uncomfortable

We made the best of things, but overall it seemed poorly maintained As often happens the photos are misleading, probably from several years ago

Best hotel experience we have had since pandemic Housekeeping is great, same time, very clean and always clean towels Everyone who works there is super helpful

The vallet is busy but super convenient right at bottom of escalator Busy area but super safe and next to really fun places! Love getting free sparkling water every morning!

Ashley Rowland

Such an amazing place! 6 of us travelled here 4 adults and 2 children and had 2 King size rooms The hotel is clean and everyone is so friendly The kids loved the pool (of course) and the shaved ice every day was amazing

Everything about our experience was fantastic The food and coffee at the hideaway restaurant was phenomenal Plus kids crafts every day and live music weekend evenings! I would absolutely travel here again and I am recommending this place to all of my friends Thank you for a great stay!

Wesley Chang

We have visited Hawaii twice and stayed at The Laylow both times The hotel has maintained its high standard during the pandemic and keeps the rooms extra clean The location is simply unbeatable

You are a block away from the beach, shopping and restaurants but still get to enjoy the quietness in the evening The only caveat is that parking is valet only and costs $49/night We are very happy with our stay and would recommend it to anyone!

Okay so everyone at the hotel was great and friendly and the hotel itself was very clean Now for some of my complaints… the windows to the rooms appeared to be missing their seals or in need of replacements Because of the seals not being replaced we heard loud trucks, people outside yelling, ambulances and my favorite and the reason I am writing this post, construction

I’m sitting here writing this at 6 am because I can’t sleep with all of the beeping noises coming from the construction trucks down on the street below My next complaint would have to be the water temperature in the shower, whenever we did want to shower you’d have to let it run for at least ten to fifteen minutes to get it to a bare able temperature Lastly, something to consider before staying at this hotel is all the extra little fees You have paid for everything, then they hit you with $25 resort fees every day, but I’m not even sure what you are actually getting out of that when we are already paying hundreds to stay here Then if you want to park a car it’s $35 a day for guests and $50 for everyone else I guess I’m not understanding why there isn’t a better rate if we’re already paying that other fee We had an awesome time here in Hawaii but needed up spending the majority of our time in the north shore away from the crowds and loved it even more This hotel otherwise was not bad to stay at and it definitely got the job done for the little bit of time we spent in the room Again not a bad hotel but you ought to know these things before you choose to stay here

Jacob Martinez

Our stay here was top notch Such a perfect location to the beach, less than a 5 minute walk Staff was friendly, they provide beach towels as many as you need, and the rooms were clean and comfortable

Shower is small so be aware, and don’t leave your balcony doors open while you’re out, birds do fly by/in the room sometimes You’re close to all the best spots in Waikiki and the parking is pretty easy I’d highly recommend staying here!

Caroline Loach (CJ)

This hotel is close to everything either way you go Awesome location It’s not on the the beach only 3 minutes away, but those hotels on the beach will be twice as much if not more

If you want an ocean view this may not be for you Also this hotel is extremely dated and could do with an update However, it was clean and the service you got made up for what was lacking The ladies on the front desk were awesome served us well and were very accommodating to our needs At the end of the day you do just sleep in the room Well maybe not but you get my idea Well priced too So if your looking for economy and don’t really mind not having a major fancy hotel this is it

We had a wonderful week stay at the Grand Waikikian The check in and check out was quick and efficient The rooms are nice and are equipped with a kitchen and a washer/dryer in the unit

The customer service was excellent from the valet to the front desk The pools are nice but you do have to go early to get chairs they fill up quickly The resort is big it takes awhile to get use to where everything is The tapas bar has live music and the bands are great It is crowded but we never had issues getting an elevator to our room We are looking forward to coming back here again

Don Mosca

VINH DUONG

I brought my children to Waikiki for the first time The property is pretty big and that is why they called it the Hilton Hawaiian VillageThere are a lot of restaurants

There are 4 pools and a lagoon with fishes The staff were really friendly The room we stayed in has an ocean view which were spectacular We stayed at a lot of Hilton’s hotels before and their services are always second to none We had a wonderful time and my family really enjoyed our time here at theHilton Hawaiian Village

Most of the staff is friendly, but not everyone Room was not that clean There is a kitchenette, but only one chair

So one person should be standing while eating? When requesting for another chair, there were no extra chairs Also no table or chairs are present on the balcony Beach towels also ran outThe location is very good The bed was comfy

Melissa Nichols

The hotel staff were phenomenal One of our party had a mobility scooter, but the elevator was too small to accommodate it The front desk staff kept the scooter in a closet downstairs, and kept it charged and secure when it wasn’t in use

They were so accommodating of our needs, it really made our stay much easier than it could have been The room was clean, but otherwise pretty basic with a small kitchenette The location was ideal for getting anywhere in Waikiki, or catching transit to go farther out All in all, this is a great place to stay

Bea Giron

My friends and I stayed at the Polynesian Residences for 9 days when we went to Hawaii for our vacation Excellent amenities and friendly staff! Good value for your money as their rooms has everything you could ask for such as a kitchenette, bidet, spacious bathroom, kitchen utensils, and many more! Very clean lobby and room service is available upon request Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in Hawaii as their rates are reasonable and close to lots of popular landmarks!

Pros:-location, close to Waikiki beach (10-12 minute walk) and shopping/restaurants-price, it’s very affordable in February 2022-the lobby/downstairs was decorated nicely and a chill place to hang out-staff is very nice and helpful-restaurant downstairsCons:-cleanliness, our room and bathroom were borderline dirty Everything needs a very deep clean You can tell they’re just vacuuming and changing the sheets

-the bed and pillows were uncomfortable There wasn’t any type of protective cover on the bed The ‘comforter’ was just between two flat sheets but it was very stained and I didn’t want to touch it-our room smelled heavily of urine if the temp got above 72F-room fixtures/furnishings aren’t as nice as the lobby You can clearly see this was a motel that they turned into a hotel very quickly, as it was poorly done at parts-the pool looks nice in pictures but it’s small and in the middle of the lobby You can see it from the street when you walk byOverall it was technically fine as a place to sleep, but I didn’t enjoy the hotel itself Next time I’ll pay more to stay somewhere with more amenities and attention to cleaning

Taushiya Dilworth

This hotel has three and a half star rooms but five star service The rooms were on the small side, but are clean, have patios, and some pretty nice showers Every associate here was kind and attentive

The bar/restaurant was great I also appreciate the free parking Walking a couple of minutes is nothing to $40 bucks a day or looking for free parking all night Overall it is definitely a solid place to stay especially if you’re not looking for a resort

Anna A.

I truly enjoyed this themed hotel The employees were amazing! The location is really good, you can walk to the beach or take a walk near the canal I also enjoyed the concert in the evening

The room was clean and nice They have free sunscreen (coral reef safe) in the lobby as well as water and coffee I did smell urine near the pool and in the room Maybe that floor covering isn’t the best idea for a dog friendly hotel The scent was really disturbing, that’s the only thing I didn’t likebut the free sunscreen is greatly appreciated!

The customer service here is just awesome! The suites are nice and clean We got one of the top floors with a beautiful view looking out of the beach The only reason for the four stars is because the showers are really open and it’s so cold when you take a shower

It could be that we’re more conservative, but it’s just uncomfortable taking a shower in the open and it’s freezing cold with AC running in the room They have heated toilet seats in the master suite but no heat for an open area shower

Brady Timme

One of the absolute best hotels/resorts whatver you wish to call it we’ve ever stayed in The employees are incredibly passionate, great at what they do an wonderful conversationalists Full of vast knowledge of anything you’d ever need to know of ANY of the Islanda

If you’re staying in Waikiki This is your place Room service, the pool, the food All amazing and made for a wonderful anniversary trip

Elizabeth C

Service is 5 stars! Wonderful staff here, very friendly and always ready to helpRoom is huge, lovely, and the tub is so greatThe bed…

A rock, hard and lumpy Woke up every night with terrible back painThe pool is small, very small Like it was an after thought I would have loved to use it But it was full of children splashing and jumping off the planters We were on our 10 anniversary, so we left our kids at home with family I would suggest having adult hours Allowing the kids a lot of time, but maybe have certain hours in the day or night for adults only?

Terrible experience The hotel is very old and needs a renovation We couldn’t use the AC because it stinks

We took the filters out and they wasn’t cleaned for at least a few years, and it helped a little bit No windows so we basically had no air The last night at 4am our room filled with smoke and strong smell of something being burned, we were it’s fire but no fire alarm was on The smell and smoke was strong so we couldn’t be in the room since 4am We had to check out and move outThe room was also very dirty and full of previous guests hairThe area around is full of homeless people but it’s a downtown so it’s kinda as it should be in AmericaVery bad experience with this placeThe stuff was very helpful and nice tho That’s the only good thing about this hotel – the stuff

Benjamin Brummel

Very nice hotel with full kitchen and balcony (at least the two rooms I stayed in) Slightly upscale, but not excessive Pricing was reasonable and staff were super nice and helpful

Valet parking wasn’t exorbitant and they provide 24 hr vehicle access Overall, I’d recommend Luana if you have a mid range budget There are both cheaper and more expensive options nearby, but this place was great

Jesse Sinyster

Room was nice, balcony, sink, toaster oven, dishes and silverware It definitely hit all the right spotsExcellent for the Waikiki area

Short walk to the beach and a hop away from the shopping districtThe best part? The diner located in the hotel It was some of the best food we had on the entire island Price is perfect and portions were great Always satisfied with a meal from there

Sampath Durairaj

Our stay in Luana was excellent overall Room was clean and spacious, ocean view and the patio were great and the location was perfect! What compelled me to write a review was the support and care we received from Patricia Davis from housekeeping We forgot few valuables in the room and Patricia went above and beyond in getting them delivered to us

She showed empathy, care and diligence and kept us well informed through the process Her management of the situation and customer care was par excellence! Thank you Patricia!

We stayed on the 21st floor so the view of the mountains and Waikiki is beautiful However, we’ve been staying here for 4 nights and 5 days without cold water in the restroom When I said no cold water, I mean absolutely no cold water Imagine yourself showering with burning hot water that causes third degree burns This is such a traumatizing experience for me and my friends We’ve complained and was advised someone would do something about it, and nothing We couldn’t move to another hotel since everywhere is booked The hotel said someone was going to come and fix this problem, but then again they didn’t care to fix it I’m surprised not much could have been done If you’re unit have a water problem, you can move us to another room This is my first time to Hawaii and it could have been a very positive experience otherwise if it hasn’t been for this I understand there are situations where things just doesn’t work out, and we are just unlucky with the room having a malfunction However, how the hotel react to it is very important Such poor communication and management for such a nice place If you’re unlucky like us then you’re pretty much screwed I would not recommend this place

Enjoyed staying here Book lagoon (not Marina side, not city/concrete jungle side) #1130 was nice for what we needed

Blackout curtains would have been a nice addition Large balcony to have morning beverage or snack, tv, air conditioning, updated kitchen and shower, king bed and sofa bed Can view fireworks from balcony on Friday nights Would stay again Pool was nice Restaurant downstairs outside Ice cream, trinkets and some items at store at hotel like postcards, makeup bags, beach bags, soaps, beverages, snacks Very nice open air restaurant with fantastic history Walking distance to restaurants, beach and lagoon right there, Marina, perfect view from balcony

Room was very nice, great view Centric location in Waikiki Plenty of food, shopping, and beaches in the area

Had fully stocked kitchenette, meaning utensils and cookware Temp was great but wish the fan/cooler could be aimed more at the bed Liked that all we had to do to check in/out was enter a code in the door lock Security was very nice during the few interactions we had with them Not sure if this is a normal thing with these kind of rentals but they only give you a ‘starter’ set of goods (tp, shampoo/conditioner, soap, lotion and towels) and then a small fee of you want more or buy some at the market in the lobby I guess my point is that you usually get those things from room service as part of your stay Was nice sitting on the open pavilion and enjoying a couple of meals at sunset They have two pools, technically Main one is a regular pool with an outdoor hose and then showers in the adjacent bathroom Higher level one was just a jacuzzi and a very shallow pool You will get jealous of neighbors on either side however cause the Hilton has a crazy water fall pool with decoration and the other side has gazebos all around the perimeter of their pool with a big round splash pad Would recommend

We’re staying at the Hilton Waikiki village hotel and it’s beautiful Upon our arrival we checked out the tours and activities desk and made arrangements for a sail cruise We were offered a discount if we attended a presentation “a sales pitch” to hear about their members club to become an owner for their vacation club resort

We attended the presentation not to mention we gave away 2 hrs away from our vacation time Presentation was smooth, agents were so nice until we said no to their offer Their whole personalities changed They were no longer nice or accommodating You could tell they were bothered at the fact that their pitch was turned down Not to mention they tell you there’s no pressure when going into the presentation But yet they pretty much look angry if you don’t walk out saying yes These people get paid to do these presentations I understand it’s their time too but it’s their job They need to be more understanding when it comes to visitors We’re giving up time we could be doing other things instead of being a chair for 2 hrs listening to a sales pitch to only get a bad reaction once it’s all overCynthia you were awesome and polite until we said no and then you could tell it’s all fake As well as the other young lady who came in after you who was suppose to only do a survey but instead just threw another sales pitch Pleasant until she heard a no They need to learn how to be respectful even their sales pitch wasn’t successful

Purchased room with ocean view If you leaned out the window you could see the marina…not exactly ocean view Staff used the elevators with their carts during peak hours, we waited multiple times for 15+ minutes, each time a car would stop, it was full of staff

Expect to pay, room rate plus $44 resort fee, $45 taxes and $65 parking each day Your $249 room is actually $400 Just FYI Our room, we were also lucky enough to share it with the elevators Very loud and very annoying Lagoon tower is garbage in my opinion Staff were very friendly, restaurants were good Super busy

The front desk attendants were exceptional! Sherry and Yuko were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area for dining needs The location is perfect and proximal to the beach and shopping centers Very family friendly or solo traveler friendly

My only complaint was the room, which they quickly and professionally addressed Would recommend for any business or leisure trip

The check-in time wasn’t the best The views is winning I love passing out to the sound of the waves

For the price I only stayed 1 night The room quality – price ratio isn’t on point I had reservations for a bigger room elsewhere The experience was great I actually wanted to stay another night because of the nice breeze and the view Be nice if they can turn 2 corner suites into a 1 bedroom with a big tub A whole 280° view plus some

Daniel

So far this is an absolutely amazing hotel Directly next to the lagoon and everything looks absolutely gorgeous There are throngs and throngs of people here which made check in pretty slow and clunky

It’s also a $50 resort fee per night plus parking fees and the parking garage is cumbersome and difficult to get to but not too bad They have a shopping village and food around every corner They have kayak and paddle boat and paddleboard rentals by the lagoon which is pretty cool

D Gnz

The only complaint I have: was checking in long n slow lines I liked the hotel n service

Our room was kept clean The hotel restaurants were highly expensive but there’s a food truck across the lagoon, the best shrimp n fish The hotel location is perfect: beachfront, lagoon , n many shops ABC stores to get food too Parking space is expensive $59 per day We didn’t use their parking garage, we found a cheaper one 1 block away I will reserve it again because of location

We had quite a terrible time at the holiday inn expressIn our first room, the ceiling was flooding and leaking (see photos) When we told the front desk they had a maintenance person inspect it and tell us we had to move rooms

We got downgraded in our rooms and the front desk refused to give us any compensation for the downgrade or the fact that the ceiling was leaking It was very unfortunateAt the very least they should offer a night or two off or a discountThen, the front desk double charged us twice for our resort fees We paid these upfront through the booking agent, but then they tried charging us again when we arrivedThe morning breakfast is also very low quality and not worth it It’s convenient but not good We ended up going out for breakfast most daysThe housekeepers were great though They always worked very hard to keep the hotel cleaned and they were much appreciated

Jeff Blankenship

Two queens with ocean view is not disappointing us Centrally located and within walking distance of good food and beautiful beaches You get breakfast every morning helping save money on meals

No restaurant or bar on premiseSmall pool but a nice size jacuzzi Putting section and ping pong Great place to relax after a long day of soaking up the sun and surfStaff have been extremely friendly and helpfulWe will certainly come back
