After an incredibly stressful day of travelling, I checked into the hotel The front desk staff, upon hearing my story, spoke to their manager and concessions were made to accommodate my needs for which I was truly grateful The room was large, bed was comfortable, space was clean

Breakfast was decent In the morning upon checking out, my car battery was dead (another hiccup in my travel saga) Staff were supportive in finding someone to boost me and lending me jumper cables Really great service

Rajesh Ojha

The Service desk was nice and accommodating We had issues in the first King room that was allocated where bathroom smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, drawer handle was broken We called front desk and they found another room quickly

Room was very spacious way larger than what we have seen The room AC was very quiet and bed was comfortable Breakfast was nice as well

Arturo Martinez

Service was good respectful But my issues was they say it’s 138 per night then you get there and they wanna charge you $50 deposit Which it was returned the next day

But then they want to charge extra $30 because I was gonna check in before 3!!!! What!! Never heard of that I needed a place to stay so I had to get it But if I had known this I would have gone somewhere else

Immediately entering the hotel it spelled like marijuana The rooms are outdated, the carpet is very old and kind of gross There was stuff all over the walls that could have been cleaned

The bathroom was nasty The beds were not bad, comfy enough The breakfast was not bad The orange juice was disgusting though and there employee only room was open letting you see how disgusting that room was Would not stay here again I wish I would have checked reviews before booking, because I would have chose something better

Our family of 3 spent a long weekend at this hotel in Michigan City, IN From the moment we walked into our room there was disappointment around every corner First, our room wasn’t clean

There was food and debris on the floor, the air conditioner unit was covered in dust and the pull out couch was covered in stains I immediately went to the front desk The solution was for me to clean it myself, which I did Second, the A/C struggled to work and after a couple hours we had to get a fan to help circulate the air in our room This lasted for two days before the A/C tuckered out completely on day #3 Along with shutting down, this unit was leaking on our room floor, the solution to that was an arm full of towels they provided to line our floor with (we weren’t set to check out for another 24 hours) Back to that stained couch This was actually a pull out which allowed our room to sleep 4 That is, if there were any sheets, pillows or blanket provided These also had to be retrieved from the front desk Additional speed bumps such as an unheated pool and breakfast that was beyond disappointing (milk and juice machines were both down) were par for the course for this hotel stay The only positive feature with our room was the size The large room and spacious bathroom has such potential Long story short, the hotel is understaffed Which lead to dirty rooms, unserviced equipment, poor customer service and overall bad experiences

Charlotte Harris

Nice hotel I would recommend Nice continental breakfast I only had one problem

I tried reaching the front desk around 11pm I called and called I even called customer service who said they were unable to reach the local front desk Finally, I had to physically walk downstairs and ring the front desk bell and the front desk lady appeared from the back She was polite and able to resolve my problem Otherwisemy hotel experience was good

This hotel was disgusting upon arrival The toilet seat had spots of what looked to be urine on it The shower had black hair on the floor

The comforter also had hair under the folded area up top I was instantly turned off and felt like I shouldn’t even let my 10 month old be on the floor There was rust debris on the side tables of the bed and the TV stand everything in the room was old and dated I was very dissatisfied and disappointed I was glad that we were only staying one night I would have not been able to be comfortable here any longer than that

Loni Flowers

This was a very nice place to stay Rooms where clean, smelled nice No complaints there

I loved that they had lemon water at the entrance! The continental breakfast was so good! I was pleasantly surprised! The lady that was working the breakfast was so nice and pleasant They had WAFFLES! We will be staying there again The price was a bit much, but I think it was because of an event that was going on I’m hoping it comes down A very nice place to stay! I recommend 👌

Mike Weaver

I had to stay here for a week for a class, and on the second night I backed my truck up to far and got stuck in the trench I really appreciate how above and beyond the Manger went to help me out and made sure I was able to continue my school

The rooms are fantastic The food was amazing, and all of the staff members were very hospitable and polite I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling, as I will be only using this hotel in the future

This place is an absolute gem in Michigan City We decided to take a trip here on short notice, and were happy to see 4411 had king beds available It was in the perfect location for our vacation, and is conveniently located just off the main roads in a great part of town

Check-in was easy and our room was adorable This mid-century vibe carried throughout the property and the fire bits, baggo games, picnic tables and grill was a nice touch The property was recently renovated and clearly well-cared for We found the room to be spacious, clean and comfortable, and the view of the woods out the patio doors made this trip feel more relaxing than we expected The fridge was a great size and the microwave was perfect for us Text communication throughout our stay was so convenient and made things like getting a few extra towels and a bucket of ice a breeze I would definitely stay here again

Sandy

Wonderful stay, beautiful room with a private patio Very clean and newly remodeled rooms Amazing staff, very attentive

Place is located near some great dining and very close to the lake We loved the outside fire pit and seating! Kiyana and Savannah in were super helpful and friendly at the counter, and Patrick and Hal made sure are room was stocked with fresh towels and water Friendly staff to talk too! See Michael when your there, he will tell you the best places to visit Will definitely be back!

Tanisha Perez

We stayed here for a quick girls trip weekend getaway! The rooms were modern and clean The staff was friendly and accommodating and the environment was very warm and inviting The full size kitchen in the 3 bedroom suite was extremely convenient as we cooked our own food

The fire pit was great for roasting marshmallows We also barbecued on the grill that was available Very nice place to stay!

Yes, good price for large rooms with kitchenette I realize it is not the Taj Mahal However, there are real problems for me

Having worked out in the cold, all I wanted was a hot shower and hot water to wash my dishes In 7 days, 3 of them I had NO hot water Not at 6pm, not at 9pm, not at 1am I called the main number AND the emergency number several times Nothing and no one returned a single call NO ONE is EVER in the office, just a sign that says call the emergency number This isn’t acceptable The couch was severely and freshly stained and very nasty We had one cooking pan, 1 cookie sheet, and 1 boiling pan No toaster, no whisk, no spatula No towels to place freshly hand washed dishes on and had to use a shower towel Refrigerator drawers were filthy, and the oven drawer was full of what appeared to be hamburger helper molding Our beds were broken, so much so that one was leaning and stabbed you in the back with springs and FILTHY Also, I would like to add that the people who are actually living there are smoking in the stair wells and they are not being monitored at all Many pets barking all night, people running around the rooms all night long running/hitting into the walls I just needed clean, hot water, quiet after midnight on week days, and not to have to walk through the smokers lounge to get to and from my vehicle every single day and stink like that all day If you are wanting this too, DO NOT stay here

Carl Crayton

This place is the absolute worst suite/hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I travel very oftenDon’t waste your money or effort on these people, you’ll be better off going anywhere else and there’s a better hotel right next doorThe manager Veronica Luque, absolute HORRIBLE, the way she talks to people unacceptable, she had such a snarky attitude for someone who can’t even handle the simplest of issues

I was there for an entire week and was never checked on, when I did need things we were ignored Not answered, I arrived to check in at 3pm on a Thursday and the office was closed already and there is always doors propped open Whats the purpose of having codes for doors if housekeeping and management keeps them propped open

The only thing extraordinary about the hotel was the evening manager, Linda She was very accommodating to our traveling volleyball teamRooms were OK and clean

They are a little dated Carpets are probably close to needing replacement Beds were comfortableThe TV in the “Meeting Room” (aka the breakfast room) doesn’t have a remote for some bizarre reason and is stuck on CNN We had to bring a cable box & remote from one of our rooms and swap it on the TV to have some control over the TV We obviously swapped it back when we left each night

Nick

As a quick stay hotel it was ok, I was here for 4 days on business, the surrounding area is awful and I would not go out past dark Literally people with a 24 pack of beer took up both benches out front drunk rambling and saying nothing positive Staff were friendly of course

The room was nice for what it was but there are a lot of imperfections My soap went missing after day one of my stay, there was paint in things that shouldn’t have been painted the light bulbs didn’t even match and screws missing The pool room was hot as hell which was great but the pool water was soo cold, too cold Hot tub was ok but It felt dirty for some reason All in all I would not return here to the hotel or to Michigan city for that matter if I could help it Also the fridge coolness level was only at 5 which in my opinion was basically not even on, if a hotel is concerned with saving energy like this it’s ridiculous because at what cost do your customers have to suffer due to your cheapness ?

Everything was well in the stay until I woke up with 20+ bites on me We were suspicious but we went in through the day only to find bed bugs in our clothes When we spoke to the desk they were very dismissive and in apathetic

They did a room check and completely tore up the room leaving it as that for us to stay in When we looked through, the beds and sheets where covered in fresh and old blood spots that where clear evidence of bed bugs The manager was in complete denial because they didn’t find any actual bugs meanwhile they looked during the day when they are normally dormant I was very understanding that things like this happen and it’s hard to catch but their lack of concern or help was absurd We had to cut our trip short and drive 10 hours over night in the rain due to fear of us spreading the the infestation at a different hotel After all this when we called, the manager was very short and rude denying us any sort of compensation or refund In fact she continuously gaslit us and laughed at me when I told her about our collected evidenceI should have known from the start when the building was insecure and a woman followed us in after very concerning behavior including staring us down and creeping not even a foot behind us while we were unpacking our car We thought we were in the clear when we got inside but after a few seconds she followed us in and hastily started approaching us as we fan down the hall When we called down to alert the desk they couldn’t even be botheredThat aside the bathroom didn’t even have a light switch aside from a tiny, broken, nub of remains to the motion sensor that didn’t even work The bathroom door was broken, the shower shelves where half way dismounted, the shelf above the toilet falling off, holes in the wall, and an over all must and unpleasant smell If shambles is what your after then this is the place for youAs 21 year old girls just wanting to tour the medical schools in the area, the amount of hazardous situations we were put in was completely unacceptable From the security of the building, the quality of the room, the infestation and the beds and the unwelcoming and appalling service I don’t know what was more dangerous, driving 10 hours home overnight in pouring rain while completely sleep deprived, or continuing to stay thereIf the majority of my bites weren’t in a more private spot I could have illustrated a bit better

Stayed one night, June 18-19, 2022 Arrived about 3:00, checked in to a very smelly, cigarette smoked-in room Had to leave quickly for a wedding

On return about 9:00, at least 6 young children running and screaming at the pool and hot tub Thought we would wait until morning for a swim because the door was printed open at 9:00 am Went to the front desk and asked if they had some air freshener we could use Also asked for more coffee packets as only one regular and one decaf provided My own fault for not checking, but were given 2 decaf Were told they would send someone down with the air freshener shortly Shortly never came We kept the sliding glass door open for air, but no screen so the first bug got the door closed Next morning noticed a large overturned garbage bin, disgusting enough, in front of the pool door and the hand-written sign that said the pool was open 2-10 Dogs are permitted, but clearly no emphasis on cleanup in the grass just off the patio There was not a closet, but rather an open device with rod and shelf All clothes that were hung up had to be washed when got home No folding rack upon which luggage could be placed was in the roomBreakfast was good with biscuits and gravy, hot scrambled eggs and a pancake maker Plenty of cereal, coffee and juices breads, bagels and toasters

Angel Satterly

The room was the worst I’d stayed in for years The tub liner was cracked The curtains were broke on one side and so long they covered the heater on the other side

can you say fire hazard Ugh The refrigerator had a drain that was moldy and the bathroom reaked of mold Besides this random cord hanging on the wall that they didn’t run behind furniture there was a face mask behind one of the cabinets If I was doing anything more than sleeping in this room I would have left The scariest though was walking into the room there was no light switch because they had installed a motion sensor That would be super helpful except the light attached to the sensor was off Also the entry way was so narrow because of a bureau they put there that my bags dragged along the bureau and by the scratch marks on it I wasn’t the first to have an issue The funniest partI initialled that they were pet free, only to be greeted by two dogs in the parking lot and the verbal greeting of at least one more inside Then my room had white dog hair imbedded in the office chair I have dogs so didn’t mind but 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My family stayed at this location for 4 nights and we had a great time The staff was very friendly as well as all of the other guest Breakfast was good but I wish they had more variety

Our room was clean but could use some fixing up Overall this is a nice hotel to stay in Clean, friendly, quiet and not too far from restaurants I would stay here again

K Fleming

Should have been better since it was a Hilton chain I did report that the side exit doors should not be unlocked during 10p-6a We were able to get in during those hours without a key

Hopefully they fix the strike issue on room 104 as the deadbolt was not lined up with the strike There was a slow drainage with sink and tub room 124 & 125 The house cleaning crew did a great job though in all the rooms The pool area was open and clean The outside was clean but the sides of the building was dark to due parking lot lighting being out

Erin DeTray

Reserved a room 2 wks ahead via Hilton app Received multiple email acceptance and reminders including our confirmation number Showed up that night to find out we didn’t have a room?!? How is that possible? Nothing offered to us and All other hotels in area were booked

We are Diamond members but that apparently means nothingNot happy!!!Had to drive 25 miles out of the way to find a place to sleep at midnight

We will stay here again! The staff were very friendly and helpful, happy to be there The rooms and the building seemed clean, however the bathrooms could have used more attention Even though Michigan City has had its problems with catalytic converters thefts, we felt safe at this location

The parking lot was well lit and laid out nicely Wide variety of breakfast items Overall we were very happy!

Ashley Jones-Stewart

MONEY HUNGRY!!!!! I stayed here before and it was lovely This time I booked around 3am and received my COIVD test back and it was positive! I called the hotel a few hours later to change my dates or reschedule they said I would still pay the price for one night! They rather me come and risk getting other guests sick than to cancel without penalty! They will never get my business again

Overall it was a great stay Family and I were passing through to another state and stopped here for the kids themed pool Pool and hot tub was awesome, free breakfast is a perk as well

The location is great for dinner options too both sit down and takeout nearby Losing one star due to the overall state of the king suite on the second floor The carpet needs steam cleaned and there are random drill holes by the pictures Some cosmetic damage to the doors and random carpet stains That aside, we had a great one night here Customer service was top notch, hotel was quiet at night and I would recommend staying here to anyone passing thru traveling with kids

Holli Frazell

The hotel itself was nice I was disappointed with the service, noise level and room Especially considering I picked this hotel because it appeared family-friendly and I was traveling with two toddlers

I asked for a pack and play upon check-in and was told one would be brought to our room Several hours later I called to inquire, again, about it and was told that they’d have to see if one was available… I never received a call back or notice that one wasn’t availableOur room was located on the second floor and the bedroom was extremely bright, even with the shades drawn I opened the window to check and found a large spotlight directly outside the window It felt like we were sleeping in daylightWe attempted to move to the pull out bed due to the light, but the sound was unreasonable with kids running, slamming doors and shouting constantly This was with a loud sound machine onWe enjoyed the pool, but the temperature was very chilly and my son was shaking after 20 minutes in itBreakfast was a highlight; nice selection and the service was great

Amy Morris

We love this location It is fairly clean and well maintained Breakfast is good

Coffee decent The pool is the reason we go but we are at the point of finding another location to enjoy winter pool time The pools are WAY too cold I mean, you’re indoors and shivering because it’s nearly unbearable Time to up the pool temp! I’ve heard many people complain

Not your cookie-cutter hotel chain here Rustic, more of a homey feel Our room was extremely quiet – no noise from the floor above or adjoining rooms

Decent sized pool as well as a sauna Good assortment at complimentary breakfast Hotel is tucked away in a scenic, wooded residential area A lot better than being situated next to a busy interstate highway Really, good value for the money Would stay again in a heartbeat

We absolutely love everything about this place Clean, good breakfast, great view, warm heated pool and friendly staff The only thing I would change is enforcing the rules posted by the pool especially the kids out by 9 and adult time after

We tried going to the pool yesterday wasn’t even packed but the few kids were jumping screaming water all over the place Which I get I’m a mom Just be nice to actually enjoy the pool without all the extra like the signs state in the pool area but is not enforced We can’t wait for our next stay 🙂🙂 Oh the jacuzzi tub rooms amazing ❤️❤️

Miranda Wheatley

Honest review here! We ended up killing about 7 roaches total throughout our stay Maybe we just had a bad room One of which was IN our bed that I had been sleeping with

I don’t usually leave reviews but thought it was worth mentioning Especially since I was paranoid after that checking the bed every night (I’m pregnant so extra paranoid) We just stayed here for a week It is a really cute and quaint place But definitely room for potential No one wants to sleep with roaches in their bed 🙁 but staff was nice Definitely dated but we like that aspect about the lodges we stay at There’s a pizza place next door It’s in a wooded area so the balcony out back was beautiful…just no chairs to sit on and enjoy it which was a bummer Breakfast wasn’t anything great (sausage and pastries…one day there was eggs) and kind of got less options as the week went along but it’s complimentary so not complaining! Can’t beat the price and we got our room last minute Just won’t be coming back unfortunately

Room was okay, bed was very comfortable and looked clean Ac unit stopped working for a while but, finally came back on Bathroom very small

Their breakfast was the worst ever! The hotel was sold out the entire weekend with a cheer competition going on Both days of our stay they where out of everything by 7:00 The attendant gave us they same excuse on both days that he couldn’t do anything until the owner got there because everything was locked up You would think knowing they where booked full that you would have a little more food then what they had Didn’t even have coffee or juiceOh plus they shut the pool down on Sunday I will probably never stay at a quality inn again

Good hotel, location good Beds excellent, high off the ground, which made us smile Plenty of car park space, first class check in and room service man

Our room was not quite ready, but the apologies we’re appreciated, and really not a problem for us, our friends had their room, so just sat with them for 10 minutes, excellent wifi With hospitality like this, these guys deserve to be recognised Nothing was too much trouble,

Lisa Wilson

Our room was not the cleanest carpets were dirty and smelly inside room and hall The entrance door to the back was unlocked for anyone to come in without a keycard The toilet was so low I felt like I was sitting on the ground

Very small restroom Breakfast was very limited I know its from COVID but I have stayed many other places and had more to choose fromThe juice machine was broken so we had nothing to drink besides coffee and it was luke warm Had to take it back to the room to heat up in the microwave We had muffins that were dried up So basically I would say bring your own Breakfast or go outalso while getting our so called Breakfast we overheard the staff at the front desk talking badly about guests stayingat the hotel Another one possibly a manager saw us listening and told them to be quiet just avoid this hotel if you canI won’t stay there again Stairway was dirty

I am surprised that this is rated as a 2 star hotel, I feel it should at least be a 3 or a 35 (sorry not quite 4) Jordan was great at check in, super friendly and attentive which was nice at 11 o’clock at night when I finally arrived

King room was very spacious, clean and comfortable Bathroom was clean, plenty of towels and wahoo for water pressure!! I can’t comment on the breakfast because I was gone before the 7a start time on a Sunday There is also ample room for parking which is a huge plus The only con is that it is a few miles off the I80, but don’t let that stop you it is worth the few mile drive I would stay here again in a heart beat if I am in the area

Coffee Bean

This was the only hotel I could find availability for at nearly 2 am and now I see why For 9 hours in the room it was over $300 The front desk clerk gave me no receipt or paper to sign

She told me it was non smoking and had me sign for my credit card About 15 minutes after leaving I got another $250 charge on my card! Upon calling the hotel, the front desk clerk got super snippy and told me it’s because I had a cat in the room I was never told no pets nor was I given any paper to sign saying I would be charged like every other hotel I had stopped at! All she had to say in response was “there are signs everywhere”, then why didn’t I see any? Why wasn’t it pointed out to me or brought up? The room was nice but not worth nearly 600 dollars for the short amount of time I stayed there It was a rip off and I would rather sleep in my car than stay at this hotel ever again

Jackie Brooks

The service was not great The front desk staff kicked us out of the lobby (rudely) and pool earlier than posted signs The rooms are different sizes and they put my family of 4 in one of the smallest rooms and other families of two that we were there with were in larger rooms

The king rooms do not include a pullout couch There is a lounge chair that is hard as a rock in those rooms so it wasn’t comfortable to sleep on We were actually lucky enough to get the last rollaway bed even though it barely fit in our room (We hit our leg on it trying to get out of the other bed since there was no room) They also ran out of bathroom towels I would not recommend this hotel

We love staying in rooms with a jacuzzi tub in room Not only did Blue Heron Inn have that, but it also had so much more The view from our room was absolutely stunning! There is anything you could possibly want close

The staff were super friendly, and honestly it felt like being at home Rooms were clean and the entire place just makes you feel comfortable I would not hesitate to stay here again next time in town In fact we have already started talking about a return visit

Melissa Womack

We did our reservation online, after I got a message asking what time we would be arriving When we arrived the room was read and the staff was very friendly Over all the room was clean, cloud use a good dusting would not pass a white glove for sure but as far as bed sheets, bathroom and floors it was clean

We had a suite with a lake view The jet tub was amazing personally my favorite after a 8 hour road trip It was very relaxing and cleanThe view from the room balcony was relaxing The only down fall was there were a lot of spiders on the balcony Besides that it was nice to sit outside and relax When it comes to sleeping the bed was soft I loved it but my fiancé didn’t But he still slept good Very cute and not a lot of noise at night Breakfast was good and check is at noon We come up often to La porte and have stayed at almost all the hotels in the area and by far this is the best one We are planning to come up in Dec and already booked a room hereI will note it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the newer hotels across the street but for us it was well worth the money

We stayed here after visiting Indiana Dunes National Park and we are so happy we didThe Inn has an older feel to it and as others have mentioned, it could use an update in areas but overall the Blue Heron is incredibly clean and everyone on staff is so friendly that you feel like you are at home We have never stayed at a place where our dogs were so welcomed and that made a world of difference to us

Also, the big perk is that it’s right on the water and if you want to take a walk to get some fresh air, there’s a nice little park where you can sit by the water right next door and watch the sun set or you can cross the street, walk a block and take the Chessie trailThere’s a distinct unique charm to this place and my husband and I hope to visit it again soon

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and we stayed in the Paris cabin We stayed three nights and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had The staff were all great

They were very professional and they took great care of us It was our first time there, but it will not be our last The spa tub was great, the breakfast basket was delightful We really enjoyed the butler box and the goodies that were placed in there The scenery was so peaceful, I didn’t want to leave I really love how spaced out the cabins were You couldn’t hear any of the neighboring cabins I love the way the cabins overlooked the lake This place is really a five star in my opinion

Our third visit and counting This place screams romance The entire experience was worth every penny

My Husband and I make it a point to do something every so often that allows us to reconnect that doesn’t break the bank and “Serenity Springs” is always one of our options Their website photos are true to life, the staff is very accommodating and friendly and their attention to detail is impressive Even our visit during this pandemic was just as enjoyable It’s not a visit, it’s an experience If you are looking for quality time away from home, Serenity Springs is for you

Ask Yourself

Stayed one night, last minute booking in the whirlpool room Room was clean, the whirlpool drained very slow, but the water and function of it worked very well The biggest complaint we had is with the curtains hanging in the window

We had a room facing the back end of the hotel which had so much light pollution The curtains in our room DID NOT close all the way to block out the light You come to a hotel to get a piece of mind and rest and that’s the last thing we did, was rest It was very difficult getting to sleep so we had to “rig” our window shut as best we could This is definitely an issue that needs to be fixed, especially when paying high price
