Rude Front Desk Supervisor (Ellen)The hotel charge me an extra $300 for 1 night because they claimed I checked in a day before I really didWhen I called the hotel about this I was called a liar by the front desk supervisor (Ellen) and she told me “I was on camera signing papers and checking in on Friday” I checked in on Saturday and checked out on SundayEllen was very rude and was chuckling when telling me I was lying and I stayed for 2 nights not 1 like I actually did

When I asked for her employee number she then hung up on meI called the hotel back 5 times and was sent to voice-mail every timeI have never been disrespected and treated so poorly by a “professional” establishment, this experience made me feel like the gum stuck on the bottom of someone’s shoe This experience still feels really bad and Ellen hurt my feelingsI didn’t deserved to be treated like that and no one deserves to be treated like thatMy Girlfriend and the organization I was at this hotel with are just as upset about my experian as I am

Awesome weekend stay with my kids! Very spacious and clean lobby upon entering the hotel We were greeted by two employees at the front desk with a warm friendly welcome Check-in was quick and easy

We were told that breakfast ends at 10am on the weekends before we headed up to room on the 4th floor The associate also told me that if we needed anything not to hesitate and just ask Elevators were quick and clean Once we got to our room and opened the door we were very impressed The room temperature was perfect, the room was clean, and the carpet floor was beyond clean The bathroom was spacious and had everything from towels to shampoo, conditioner, and body wash A hairdryer was even present!!! The beds were extremely comfortable with both soft and firm pillows provided The tv was a large flat screen mounted to the wall which could be pulled out and turned right or left for optimum viewing angles There was a nice size closet, a desk, a fridge, and an iron This hotel is our go to when we stay in the Pittsburgh area!!!

This is the one you want The staff was amazingly friendly, the room was very clean, and the process was just comfortable start to finishThe WiFi is capped at about 6mb, but it’s stable, so you’ll be happy if you’re the person hooking their laptop up to the TV for YouTube/Netflix

The breakfast isn’t worth it Go to the Burger King next door or Denny’s down the road if you don’t mind payingThere IS rail nearby, and I heard/felt it on the morning I left Pack a white noise machine from AmazonIt sounds like this was a mixed bag, but it really was great compared to other options in the neighborhood I’m sure there’s better/more expensive options in Pittsburgh, but this was close to the location of my meeting and I have no regrets whatsoever

Why was our stay great? Brandi! Your front desk, maintenance, hospitality, teaching, housekeeping, photography and asst manager Brandi took care of our every need from fixing broken lights, instructing us on TV and coffeepot usage, getting clean towels, making new keys (hourly?), and keeping that fire pit going! Stayed 3-4 nights with our kids and grands for family wedding, allcoming and going at all different hours Brandi helped us make this seamless

my husband said on the way home “I dont know what they pay her, but it’s not enough”The only thing she couldn’t fix was the unappetizing breakfast No hot eggs and meats anymore for Marriot customersjust prepackaged quiches and sandwiches served and heated in their wrappers, no cut fruit or yogurtjust green bananas, bruised wrapped apples, and tiny oranges Maybe you should hand one more thing to Brandi!

Stacy Craig

For a non smoking facility Our room stunk like old cigarette smoke I liked the room but the smell was over bearing

I’m glad it was only for one night stay I should have asked for a different room But, they looked like they were fully booked Our room was 405 If you reserve a room for here avoid that room Other than that the pool was warm and clean Breakfast was good also

The interior of the hotel is spectacular! The location is superb! The rooms are beautiful! But

there are two bars adjoining the hotel, which have never been an issue in all my years of traveling However, there are speakers on the exterior of the building which play music out onto Forbes Avenue They played music all night long out to an empty Forbes Avenue The bass echoed throughout our room all night longI complained to the front desk Her reply was that there is nothing she can do about it I questioned about Hiltons satisfaction guarantee She said there was nothing she could do about that either We checked out at 5:30 am and canceled our remaining plans in Pittsburgh that weekendFor $226, we got to be kept awake ALL NIGHT in a nice room We didn’t even get an “I’m sorry” We have been loyal patrons of the Hilton chain, this will changeUPDATE: After receiving a response from the hotel manager, I reached out to him, as he requested He explained the events that led up to the incident with the speakers Being a former manager, I completely understood how this could have happened Sometimes, small details can be easily overlooked, but the consequences on a third party can be enormousI am very pleased with the response from the management and will be updating my rating accordingly! We will return to this location!!!

Arienne Valerio

Front desk probably had some of the nicest folks I’ve ever interacted with: so kind and accommodating! The room was clean, spacious for a downtown hotel, and most importantly QUIET Carpeted halls and well built walls ensured that we literally heard nothing from any neighbors Normally we stay on the Strip’s side of the DLLCC, but this Hilton Garden Inn Downtown was nearly as close and will definitely be our go to! Can’t speak for their food/drink options, but there’s unlimited choices for all palates and price points within a few blocks 🙂

Doctor Crummy

It’s clean, great location, and front desk is always helpful The restaurant is nice but expensive – same with parking My only complaint is the break fast for the high price of the hotel it was literally a bottle of apple juice and two options for food a wrapped cheese danish or a wrapped cheese muffin 💀 I just think the price of this hotel is overpriced

Nice and awesome location yeah but overpriced

Excellent location near Heinz Field and Amtrak We walked to the up and coming Strip District, which looks like it will be fun The dog friendly grass area is across the overflow parking, but we were glad it was there

The room was nice with 2 queens and a sofa bed Beautiful view of the river, too Nice friendly staff, esp Amos in the night shift

Michael Telgenhoff

Hotel was new and really nice Rooms were very good size with great accommodations such as very large wall mounted moveable TV, wireless charges, comfortable sofa beds Staff was friendly

Having simple parking in the city was great Location was good to get to many places quickly Had one major problem on first day that was rectified on second day The entire breakfast and coffee area was allowed to go empty with no one restocking anything – including all three regular coffee dispensers, bread/muffins, condiments, yogurt, etc But day 2, it was very well managed and no issues

Dave

Room super clean Mary at front desk was phenomenal, friendly and helpful! Breakfast was hot and fresh Plenty of food and friendly staff

Maintenance, housekeeping, front desk and everyone were upbeat great attitudes! Really makes a difference! The facility was one of the more expensive Hampton Inns that I’ve stayed in But’ they had free daily parking which was great for my rental, and this hotel is really close to the strip shopping district, views of PNC park within a 25 minute walking distance for reasonable fit people 7 or8 miles And across the street from the Heinz history museum (under 20 per person) If you know Hampton inns you won’t be disappointed If not a regular to the chain they are a 3 star with no restaurant but do have a free breakfast

The hotel was nice but when my family and I walked in I was surprised that the front desk staff didn’t even greet us with a “Hi, how are you doing today?” Instead they just stared at us and made us feel uncomfortable The breakfast was lackluster and provided little to no healthy options besides an applePast that housekeeping did a great job

Stacey Phillips

The room was very clean and tidy Hot breakfast is not being offered Was surprised by the stoic receptionist at the front desk who didn’t bother to provide me with information regarding amenities offered by the hotel or even greet me upon check in

Upon checkout, the young lady at the front desk, failed to enquire from any guests leaving the premises about their stay Clearly this establishment does not value the patronage of its customers As I travel, I notice that the standards of Marriot brand that I have grown accustomed to are diminishing This is sad!

Josh harper

The rooms were clean, But the toilet refused to flush, we had to ask for a plunger and had to use it every single time we used the toiletBreakfast was of the grab and go variety and was just disappointing

Great location Very quiet Loved how close access to the Parkway 376 East, and also the three rivers heritage trail

I ran that trail several times, it’s amazing Good shops and restaurants across the Hot Metal Bridge on the south side But the service at this hotel was terrible No room service available at all If you needed anything you had to go to the front desk to get it Room cleaned? Not without 24 hour notice And often the front desk would report they couldn’t do anything because, “they were understaffed and the only staff in the building” yet it was early evening Strange No continental breakfast, although it stated that on the website If you wanted breakfast it was $16 a person for a buffet I only ever saw one customer in there For good reason I rarely give bad reviews, but this was not a fun stay overall and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone Parking was $20 extra per night And you had to pay that, there’s no place else to park at all The staff just wasn’t interested in even attempting to be polite I know things are bad in a post COVID economy and there are help wanted signs everywhere in Pittsburgh, but a smile is free and easy Disappointed

Liljana Cvetkovska

Worth booking this hotel even though it is close by to a busy road Very pleasantly surprised by the interior and the history pieces in the lobby area, nice back patio with large gas fire pit and sitting sectionals On the 6th level, there is another larger patio /terrace with tables and chairs with a nice view

The hotel room we stayed in was very nice too This hotel provides a free shuttle within a three mile radius; best thing ever not to worry about driving around and looking for parking Last but mot least, it is a dog friendly hotel

R Cameo

The metalworks theme is charmingly done, along with the friendly staff and convenient location The rooms were clean and modern, if a bit worn around the edges Their Dog friendly policy was much appreciated, and our stay went without incident

Provided soaps and sundries are truly for emergencies only I would like to see an outdoor ashtray for staff It would help clean up the side entrance from the parking lot

We called ahead because we pulled in late They had a crib in the room waiting at request The one bedroom configuration was great for a big family

The bathroom was separate so the light didn’t wake up the others Breakfast was delicious with multiple options for everyone The staff were very friendly and helpful They did little things like show me how the remove the tray so my water cup would fit and helping my 10 yr old figure out how to work the pancake maker All and all a great experience Thank you Holiday Inn Express for being such a positive experience on our drive home!

The ice machines weren’t working so you had to have the front desk get you some from the Cafe The breakfast is made to order and is NOT included with your room cost Coffee and fruit are offered free however

The hot tub was out of order and the pool was too cold for my liking so we didn’t utilize that amenity Also the guest laundry feature was out of order Check out was noon and I was able to have a late checkout til 1pm without extra charge Beautiful back yard with large gas fireplace over looking the river made up for all the other things out of order though Very nice Service from staff was excellent

I used a third-party for purchasing my hotel stay I was visiting my friend for the week and weekend, and the hotel did NOT deliver excellent service I was told the standard king room I requested online had a maintenance problem

The staff would not elaborate about why they couldn’t give me the room, until I had heard it from a manager later during my stay Then while I was there, I stepped in something small on the hotel room floor that looked like chocolate or poop I don’t know I took it to the front desk in a tissue No one did anything when I complained I also had to be in charge of throwing out my own hotel room garbage in front of the door Also all the other hotel rooms had their rooms cleaned while they stayed, but mine was NOT cleaned until we left Their excuse was that their housekeeping was short staffed I’m disappointed in the hotel and the travel website I used to book the room The breakfast was acceptable, but everything else wasn’t Best to go to a hotel that actually LISTENS and cares about excellent customer service Not a good hotel to pass through in Pittsburgh

Paul Martin

Extremely friendly staff Very clean room including the small details other hotels overlook or just do a poor job of cleaningI was an extremely late arrival

After a long day of travel, the front desk employee made check in easy and accommodated my stupid request after I had checked inThe only negative I can think of is a minor complaint at best One driveway is closed It’s not well marked and there is no clear direction on how to access the parking lot but it wasn’t that hard to figure out even though it was a very dark night and well after midnight It may have added two minutes into my arrival time See, minor issueI was here for business When I have to come back to our facility nearby, I will stay here again

Rosemarie Smith

I called several weeks in advance to confirm that I needed a handicapped walk in shower The desk person I spoke to said she made a note on our reservation When we arrived we were told no handicapped room was available

For 5 days we did not have the accommodation that we requested and paid for The manager was rude and uncaring of the situation She simply said we don’t look at the notes and that was that!!!Breakfast was good and the other staff was nice

Stayed at this location for work The staff is amazing and so kind! George and the rest of the staff created an environment that felt welcoming and helpful The king suite was huge and I would forever pick the suite over a traditional room

The proximity to the conference center was great They have a small outdoor courtyard that was perfect to just sit back and enjoy some fresh air You also have many restaurants right across from you on a road that is not super busy Would recommend and stay again

Megan Foster

The hotel seems recently renovated Our room was nice and clean The front desk was friendly and accommodated my request for a new iron very quickly

The breakfast at the partnering restaurant next door left lots to be desired both in options and friendliness Coffee in the lobby would be a great addition!!Valet process upon arrival was easy The price of 24$ is what I would expect in a big cityWe had a back alley view and the noise level was moderate Definitely got woken up a few times through the night by street noiseGreat proximity to the convention center Would stay here again!

Great hotel in a fantastic location! It is actually the closest hotel to the Pittsburgh Convention Center The city view side overlooks all the excitement on Penn Ave and the backside overlooks the Convention Center

The hotel has been updated and my room was gorgeous with very high ceilings, modern furniture, large smart TV and a coffee maker I stayed for several days so it would have been nice if they had a microwave in the roomAll of the staff were very pleasant and helpful All in all, I had a great stay!

It was good Christine at the front desk was amazing and gave us so many restaurant recommendations! However, the room was not very clean to Marriott standards and the couch had some very questionable stains on it which I would not sit on I even tried flipping the cushions but they were on both sides

The bed was comfortable and very good water pressure Breakfast was good

Customer service was and is always outstanding We have stayed at this hotel for years when coming home to visit family I’m retired military and my son is active duty

He and my granddaughter arrived early on our last visit and the staff was very accommodating in getting them a room close to us Breakfast was very good and the area was very clean Once agian, all hotel staff personnel were friendly and very attentive Big hit for us were the room(s) this visit Curtains/shades had large cuts and red stains all over them, floors were greasy and slippery in kitchen and bathroom area, etc (Big decline)If the rooms and some of the common/hallway areas get a make over/cleaned up that would improve your ratings and prevent us from seeking another hotel with better/cleaner accommodations I hope you make these suggested modifications because we really do love staying at the this hotel

Jay Mack

Overall, I would have to say that I was very disappointed in our stay at their hotel My son and I were just there for a baseball tournament and we stayed at their hotel When we arrived, there was a sign on the front desk stating that the pool was closed (nice feature and part of our decision to stay there with a baseball team needing to unwind between games)

I inquired and they said it would be fixed and ready to go the next day We found out later that evening it wouldn’t be fixed until Monday after we were gone They offered no form of apologies or compensation for thisNext, I called and asked if they could send up sheets and a pillow for the pull out sofa (used to be standard in the room or hospitality would send it up) and they told me to come and get it from the front deskFinally, our room had a kitchenette and I found it curios that there were limited plates and utensils in the cabinet I looked in the dishwasher and found it full with water and grime sitting in the cups and bowls (ones which were not upside down to allow the water to drain) I found this disturbing because I have no idea how long they were sitting there and would not use themI don’t think I would stay at this particular hotel again!

First time staying at the William Penn Lovely, historical downtown area Hotel is very elegant, quite the visual experience! Very quiet, classy atmosphere

Staff was excellent: front desk, valet, bellman, waiters Prompt service all around Room was slightly smaller than expected Both public and private areas were very clean and well maintained Should have upgraded to a city view room as our room was a view of the brick walled building very close next door Room was nicely appointed Would have enjoyed a small chandelier in the closet area, instead of a plain ceiling fixture (The public areas boasted stunning chandeliers!) Bed was very comfortable, soft linens Shower had glorious water pressure! Bath towels were very clean, but stiff Window shades provided excellent blackout for a nice sleep-in of a morning Brunch in The Terrace Room was excellent Nice variety of foods available, excellent waitstaff Beautiful furnishings Disappointed that The Speakeasy closed at 11:00PM on a Saturday night Would have enjoyed a nightcap after our Broadway show Within walking distance of many popular restaurants and venues Felt very safe here Key card entry required for elevators Highly recommend this lovely hotel and would stay again with an upgraded city view room

Trudy Wodinsky

Lovely, historic hotel in downtown Pittsburgh Ron Gilbert, the Restaurant Manager, was very attentive to my autistic son’s food and other special needs and was so pleasant — he even stopped by our table to say hello Housekeeping very nice, although it seems you have to make a special request to have your room and beds made up

Sam (that’s a lady!) who took care of our room for several days was attentive to our every need and always asked me what we needed She even taught me how to use that little clothesline in the bathroom! Views aren’t great in some rooms I think you really have to make a special request way in advance to get a better view, which we have in the past All rooms have refrigerators and we were able to get a microwave which was useful Everyone was pleasant and helpful All in all, a very nice stay

Very beautiful hotel The staff were amazing, so kind and quick to help out with everything Loved that they had valet parking

The rooms were clean, nicely decorated, and spacious The beds were comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water I would have liked to see a few water bottles in the room given the cost but that is not a huge issue It was conveniently close to everything downtown, we stayed for the Pittsburgh marathon The staff were even kind enough to store our luggage after we checked out for a few hours until we were ready to leave the city Overall it was a great experience and I would easily return anytime and will definitely recommend to anyone traveling to the Pittsburgh area

Where do I start?

After their remodel, they’re now insanely expensive They’ve gone “TRENDY” Whats that mean, you ask? It means; no garbage cans in bathroom, or any real cans anywhere SUICIDALLY dark lighting in the rooms, but don’t worry, you’ll probably concuss yourself on the bathroom door because it blocks the hallway before you can slit yourself you have to close it to get out NO TABLES OF ANY KIND IN THE BATHROOM I had to put up the ironing board to set my stuff on God help you if you’re a female No towel racks because trendy things are trendyOH and if you can figure out how to set their trendy ac unit so it doesn’t blow hot air in the summer, you belong in MENSA Bathtub dirty, fridge iced over etc etcBOTTOM LINE; I’ve stayed there 4 or 5 times This is the last

The worse experience I have ever had! The management including staff and manager Carmen were not accommodating or willing to assist a large family with several young kids We booked online and when we showed up the hotel was under renovations with “pool” Online it states pool indoors

The manager didn’t even want to speak with me at first kept trying to speak over phone with staffing relay information Then they just kept showing us a websitethat is very difficult to navigate and yes at the very bottom after you reserve it satates “no pool” Staff was rude Staff was unsincerce I would never recommend this hotel!!!! 0/5 stars! Or better yet -5/5

Overpriced! Not really a good place for a long stay It maybe good if you’re alone on a business trip but not suitable for family stay There’s no closet, no good place to put your luggages in

Garage isn’t used You’d need to park in front of the hotel They didn’t replenish the toiletries before we got in No free breakfast Please note that there isn’t any guest room too It’s just a regular room unless you get that two room suite

Traci

A group of us stayed here for a bachelorette party, each two to a room which was reasonable The suites, however, were 3x the price of a regular room which is not cost-effective or, quite frankly, worth the expense Just get two rooms if you need to (depending on price) but definitely don’t book without checking

Like the other hotel I’ve stayed at in PBG, the lobby is on the top floor which is interesting The rooms are very clean, well designed and just super comfortable One thing I didn’t love was the view of the trash bins and alley but that mattered so little since we went all over

Missing a lot of basics i cone to associate with Marriott hotels, looks like theres really no difference based on your bonvoy level (this was a titanium reservation) in whats included Even the Aloft I’ve stayed in offered $20 to me for buying breakfast in the in hotel “restaurant” the AC gave me nothing at allTheres no storage space, no dresser in the bedroom just those two little drawers in the room entry, I had to live out of my suitcases for almost a week

There isn’t even a clock in the bedroom! The fridge took days to chill a case if water, then froze some of them solid over the next few daysLocation wise looked wonderful on a map, right next to the DLCC, except that map doesn’t show you the ground level is different, forcing an extra few blocks of a walk between the hotel and convention center, less convenient than other nearby hotels like the Westin, Courtyard and Drury PlazaFor all that lacking in quality, i find out that its also more expensive than far superior hotels in the area The Westin, a better Marriott brand, was comparable in price, the Courtyard is ⅔ the price, Embassy Suites is ⅔ the price, Drury Plaza is ½ the price I spent points instead of money, assuming price meant quality, but this is the worst Marriott chain hotel I’ve EVER stayed in

Room was a nice size Bathroom was sizeable though the sink was outside in the room Shower head had 2 settings which was nice with good pressure and fast hot water

The fridge in the room was a good size so was good for storage The bed was soft and small bit firm so we slept comfortably The staff was friendly The breakfast had variety I’d definitely stay again!

Julian Stirrat

They didn’t clean the rooms while we were out, there’s almost nothing to watch on TV Some channels were frozen, some had two languages at once, and some were even blind people channels where they narrated what was happening Also, the was very bumpy and loud; I did not feel safe riding it

The best part was the beds and the proximity to many attractions including Kennywood

James Paddock

Worst hotel I have stay in this year Cold water was shut off to both the shower and the sink Turn down the cold water for the sink but couldn’t find the turn on for the shower

The sink stopper wouldn’t work The shower stopper wouldn’t work The fridge was frozen up And if you’re a big person you don’t fit on the toilet Whoever’s doing your remodel is a hack and you should fire them And all I got was a thanks for letting me know all these problems were there Will never stay here again
